I am mainly a lurker, as you can see from when I was registered and by how many posts that I have. We bought into the BCV when they first became available and have already added on, which is what really brought me to the DVC discussion board. Since being here since late Feb. I have noticed that there are a ton a people from Michigan, I guess I just wonder how many there actually are and that read and participate in these boards.
So let me start my name is Tom, I am married with three little Disney Princesses. We have been to Disney 7 times since Jan. 2000 and have trips planned twice a year through the next 3 years. We live in Williamston, just outside of Lansing and at least myself and my 3 year old dream of living in Florida one day.
Tell us who and where you are, I just like knowing there are so many like minded people with the Disney addiction.

We have gone to WDW a number of times since our honeymoon in APril 2000 (when we purchased our first DVC points)!
We own at BWV, VB, & VWL!
Don't worry, you are not alone! :)

We live in a small town called LINDEN, about 20 minutes north of Brighton.
We own points at OKw, VWL, BCV's, and a recent add-on at HH.
Our first trip to HH will be in June of 2003!
We have a family of 5, THREE boys, eventhough my wife will tell you she has FOUR boys!!!
We have been going to Disney for 16 straight years!! So DVC was a great fit for our family.
We went to Disney w/ out kids, now we have kids, and plan to keep going till we go w/ our grandkids!!

Hi all! Terry here, my husband and I bought into the BCV the week they were for sale. We had been waiting several years for them to go on sale.
We have two childern a boy and girl ages 6 and almost 5. We live in Livonia, Michigan. We have been to WDW with our childern 4 times now and several times before kids. Our first time home to the BCV is 9/29 - 10/12.
Tom, are you going to take your little Princesses to the the new Princess breakfast while you are there?

Thanks everyone for replying, Terry we hope we are lucky enough to get Cindys and to try the new character breakfast at Epcot. I am very lucky in the fact that we in 7 trips have only missed Cindys 1 time. I get up early to make the call every time but now to have to call for 2 of them could be much harder.
By the way I see that a few of you are going to be at BCV when we are down there in Sept. maybe we will run into you all.

Here's another Michigander checking in! It's always great to see posts by some of my Michigan neighbors. :D
I own at BWV and BCV. I first bought into DVC in May, 2000 totally sight unseen. I have a friend who has been a very happy OKW owner for 8 years. Nothing like a totally satisfied customer to help persuade me, plus the oh-so-addictive DVC video I got in the mail! ;)
I didn't discover these boards until months after I had purchased. They are a gold mine of information, and an awful lot of fun too!
Loved my first stay, which was at OKW. Now anxious to stay for the first time at my 2 home resorts. BWV in Dec. and BCV in Feb. Can't wait!! :jester:

It is great not only to see people from Michigan, but also fellow DVCers.

Hi - we are very much Disney fanatics and I just luv my DVC - dh and I have been members since June 1992 when we fell in love with OKW.
We have been to WDW 27 times, at least, and counting - been going down since our honeymoon in 1973.
We go down to WDW as many times as our points will allow - this year it will be 3 trips. We own points at OKW, BWV, and VB. We always make a trip down in December to take in the Holiday decorations which is something to see, if you haven't already.
We live in Westland. We have 3 grown children who still like to accompany us on some of our trips down to WDW.
I want to purchase more points and go down more often if I don't move to Florida soon - that is also one of our dreams.
We will be going down to stay at OKW at the end of October and then moving over to BCV the beginning of November. Can't wait - it seems so far away!

Hi All,
We are from West Michigan, a small town Greenville ( Home of the Danish Festival) 30miles north east of Grand Rapids. We all love WDW and also just bought BCV in Feb. There is my DH, DD Megan 17 (can't believe it) and DD Elin 9. I just started visiting these boards in Feb and have fell in love, now I know I am truly obsessed.
I have been to Disney for years, but just started staying on property a few years ago. Port Orleans was my DH and DD9's first trip to WDW.
I was just in Willamston a couple months ago, and left alot of my money there- great antiques.
Terry S. - Can you tell me a little more about the princess breakfast, I must of missed that one. This is actually the first year we were able to get Cindy's reservations so we decided to surprise DD 9 and not tell her until we get to MK AM Aug 30th.

Wow! There really are a lot of us from Michigan! (Aren't we like #10 on the list of states with the most DVC members?)
I'm Amy, married to Jeff and mom to Travis. We live in Redford. We own at VWL and OKW. Our first trip to WDW as a family (and Jeff & Travis' first trip period) was in '98 -- you can see from my signature that we've been back a few times! ;)
It's nice to know that there are others here who would know what on earth we were talking about if we brought up DVC in conversation! :D

Hello from Hastings, one of the top 100 small towns in the USA. Jerry and Linda here with four children. Oldest son lives and works in Japan, second son lives at home and works in my hardware store. third child is daughter who just graduated high school, top in her class of 220. Attending GVSU in the fall. Fourth child will be a junior at HHS this fall. (Sure can tell how proud I am of all of them!!!!) We fell in love with OKW and DVC in 1995 and have recuited everyone we know to join. To bad we can not have refferals here in Michigan. Next trip is to the new Beach Club on October 20. Don't know how many times we have been to Disney since our honeymoon visit in 1978, maybe about 50. maybe visiting Disney-Japan this New Years.......

Denise.... There really isn't too much information about the new breakfast except that it is called the Royal Family Princess Breakfast. There willl be princesses there we just haven't heard exactly which ones yet. It will be located in the Epcot World Showcase in Norway. They just started this morning taking reservations and it is filling up fast. It is slated right now to be a trial run from July 28 to October 28th. Being that it is in Epcot it will be nice for those of us who will be at the Epcot Resorts to just walk there.

:jester: Northern Michigan has to be represented, too! We're from Ludington, which is 90 miles north of Grand Rapids, right on Lake Michigan. We are Tim and Lee, and have been going to Florida since 1974, so we've gone there probably 50 times by now! My children are Staci and Taya, both adults now, and Staci has 250 points at BWV, while we have another 450 points at BWV and BCV, and have been members since 1998. We are definitely a Disney family, because my niece Amy also has points, as does her dad, and my sister Terri bought in at Marriott right near Disneyworld, so it's a regular reunion when we all go down! We love DVC, and have never regretted joining!

Hi, Cruelladeville! Just have to tell you that Ludington is my absolute favorite town in Michigan. It is so picturesque, with the petunias lining the streets, the lighthouse and beach, and the beautiful marina. You are very lucky to live in such a lovely place, AND to own a "piece of the magic" too! :)

Thanks, travelbug, for the nice words about Ludington. You really are a travelbug, if you can manage to get to Florida and Ludington, too! This year we are as hot as everyone else in Michigan has been, and the lake is just right for swimming! The Gus Macker is this weekend, for you Michiganians who like basketball, and we will have 1000 teams playing right at the beach, so they can jump right in after their games! It's not Disney, but it's a nice second-best!

Cruelladeville,
You've brought back some memories for me, about 5 years ago we lost in the championship game of the toilet bowl at the Ludington Macker. We had to go and drown our sorrows in a shark bowl at the Tiki Lounge. We always had such great times thanks for bringing back that memory.
I also shouldn't forget as a kid taking the ferry across lake Michigan, I was born in Minnesota but grew up halfway between Whitehall and Fremont.
Thanks again,

We're from Novi (halfway between Detroit and Lansing). We bought OKW resale last year but have only stayed at BWV and VWL so far. Have been going to WDW 1-2 times a year since we had kids (ages 5 and 3). Will be back again late Sept. -early Oct. to celebrate DSs 6th birthday. Love WDW and DVC and wish we had bought on our first trip instead of our fourth! By the way, just booked the Epcot Princess breakfast and am hoping to get Cindy's too.

We just wish we would have bought into DVC sooner! We have two children. Our DD just celebrated her 7th birthday at VB/BWV in May and our DS will be 5 next month. He expects a trip to Disney for his birthday, too! lol He will have to wait. We will be at OKW in early December and then 5 weeks later in early January. Can't wait!!

How about an ex-Michigander? Lived in Saginaw for 62 years and moved to Wisconsin last year to be near family. My wife and I were staying at POR-Riverside in February and went with my son to a presentation on the first morning the BCV was shown. Loved the location and needless to say we both purchased a DVC Membership. Never consider owning a membership until that morning although we had vacationed at WDW since 1983. Our first trip is scheduled for September and then again in January 2003. We will try to make another trip in the fall of 2003 with the whole family…if I have enough points.

Lars,
I miss the Brighton area so much. We lived in Howell for 10 years before moving back to Dearborn. At that time, Howell didn't have a Super Walmart, Meijers, etc. So, we always went to Brighton to shop, eat, etc. It is such a great area. However, when we first moved out there, it took my dh 45 minutes one way to drive to work. By the time we moved, it was taking him 1 1/2 hours one way on a good day! So, while everyone else was moving out of the city to Livingston County, we left the country for the city! I miss my 10 acres. However, my dh has a 5 minute drive to work, 15 minutes on a bad day!

We just used our points to stay two nights at the Disneyland Hotel in Paris (We were in Europe for two weeks and had to get our Disney fix!). If you ever get the chance, stay there!! It takes exactly 30 seconds to walk to the gates of Disneyland Park, and about 3 minutes to Walt Disney Studios or Disney Village!!

Hey there my Michigan friends!
I am a newbie here, as this is my first post. But I have been a lurcker here for a long time. We just returned from our first visit "home" at the BCVs. As most people on this board, we are thrilled with our DVC purchase and are on a mission to acquire more points! <G>
We live in Livonia, in the Farmington and 7 Mile road area. I am a teacher and my DH works in Auburn Hills. We are the proud parents of two sons. Our oldest just graduated from LTU with a degree in Mechanical Engineering and is on a quest to find a job. Our youngest is going into his third year at MSU to become a science teacher.
As I said, we just returned on Monday night from the BCVs. We had a few 'minor" problems while there. The DVD player wasn't connected properly, doorknobs on the closet fell off in our hands, the door lock on the master bathroom fell off and when our company went to turn on the lights in the second bedroom, there were no lightbulbs in the fixtures. All the problems were taken care of promptly.
We were in a dedicated 2 bedroom, room 378. The second bedroom had a bed and a pull out couch. We stopped by the model downstairs (room 108) and overheard the hostess telling some visitors that all dedicated 2 bedrooms have 2 beds in the second bedroom! Of course we corrected her <G>. We did have only a small balcony off the living room with a view of the parking lot. It was very quiet on the end, however.
We had a wonderful time, meeting with a great group of friends while there. We ate a Rose and Crown and found the food only so/so. We enjoyed a fantastic breakfast at Boma's with our group of 10 and then enjoyed a super dinner at the Yachtsman Steak House with a great server named Michael. He was very attentive and friendly!
I already have a studio booked for next Easter and am going to combine my points with a friend for a visit in August 2003 at OKW. We are anxiously looking forward to that visit because it will coincide with the Drum Corp Finals that will be held at the Citrus Bowl there in 03.
Our other interests include DCI and you will find us next week in Indianapolis at the RCA Dome for a competition there and then we'll be in Madison, Wisconsin for DCI finals Aug 11!

Another Michigander checking in!
We live about 6 miles north of Dexter (Webster Township) on 11 acres. Dexter is outside of Ann Arbor.
We are both transplants: my husband is orginally from Blaine, Minnesota and I am from Western Pennsylvania.
We have one daughter, who is three. We purchased our first contract, an OKW resale, in June of 2001 and just closed on an OKW add on. We try and get there twice a year (spring and fall); and have made 3 trips so far with a fourth planned for early December.
Lars624, I think you and I are the closest "neighbors" so far. Did you see me at the Brighton 4th of July parade??!
LisaR, my husband works in Dearborn, he's an engineer at Ford. He hasn't started to grumble about the drive yet, but he leaves pretty early in the morning!
TerryS and Pinnie, I still get my hair cut in Livonia at 7/Farmington area. I used to live in Northville, and some habits are hard to break!
Hope you guys are all having fun at the Ann Arbor Art Fair! It's great, except for those of us who work in town (I'm at U of M)--for us, it is a sea of madness!

Hello from a former Michigan resident and former DVC'er (had to sell our points at VWL for financial reasons). I grew up and still have family in the Camden (tri-state) area. I lived and worked a couple of summers between Ludington and Traverse City. Every year at about this time I get really homesick for there.
I've been in Iowa for 20 years now.

I always wonder what happened to all the West Michigan DVCers. We are a family of five from Zeeland, MI. I know of two other families from our town who are DVC members. We purchased in 97 and have purchased two add ons since. We typically go once in the Fall, and then again in March. Can't wait for our next trip this November!

I just had to jump back in and say we lived in Alpena for two years while I was in high school. I'm willing to bet, WDWDad, that UpnorthPooh knows Mike Nunneley (boy, that last name sounds familiar!). Everyone knows everyone there -- at least that's how it was 15 years ago; goodness knows things can change, but I don't think Alpena's grown that much. Can't say for sure -- since the day we left, I've never gone back.
UpnorthPooh -- does the scent of Abitibi still linger in the air? ;)

I actually grew up in Gaylord. I do hope you get a chance to take Mike and his family to WDW, Im sure they would love it.

For those of you in the Livonia area, I live in Westland - on the border of Redford and Livonia and according to mapquest it will take me about 2 hours to get to the meet - just a little over 100 miles - so I'm planning to go.

Thanks Lars, there is a lot of us from this area! I heard the last one was a Great Lakes Crossing, I wouldn't have minded the hour drive there at all.
Does anyone know if this is a family thing? Kids invited?

Would LOVE to go to Battle Creek, but another trip just isn't in the plans right now. We are in the final weeks of Drum Corp season and are heading down to Indianapolis this weekend and then to Madison, Wisconsin for finals Aug 10 - 12. I have to return to teaching Aug. 15.
Maybe in the fall, those of us in the Livonia, Redford, Westland, Novi, etc. area could arrange a "mini meet" at Buddy's Pizza or somewhere. I wouldn't mind organizing it as long as it would be on a Friday or Saturday evening!

Would love to have a local meet too Pin.... Maybe we should do it at a bigger place though just in case everyone does want to come? The theme seems to be to meet at malls, maybe this is a good idea since everyone knows where they are and they are usually close to freeways. How about the new food court at 12 Oaks Mall? It is a pretty good size! We could do one the following month, maybe mid Sept. How is Sept 14th for everyone?

I like that idea! Sept. 14th would work for us.

Hi Michigan Neighbors
I have been lurking for the past few months. We will become DVC members next week!!!! :Pinkbounc We purchased a resale at OKW. We orginally were going to look for 150-200 points, but after reading all the posts on this board we ended up buying 310!!!!!! Closing wasn't suppose to be until Aug 16, but we got all the paperwork in the mail today, wanting signatures and money by July 30th!!!!!!
We (myself, DH, 3-DD's, DS) are from Macomb Township (that's north of Warren & Sterling Hgts). We would love to get together with other DVC members - will there be more concrete plans regarding the meet at 12 Oaks (that is the mall in Novi isn't it?).

Hi #1 mouse & Congratulations! My family & I just joined this May and are planning our first DVC trip in Feb.
12 oaks is the mall in Novi. It's at 96 & Novi Rd. I would assume you would take 696 to 96 and then you're practically there! Hope to see you there!:p

I just got back from Mackinaw Island, and after being gone 10 days I can't believe how big this post has got. It is great to see all the DVCers from Michigan. I think the idea of a meet is great at 12 oaks, but the 14th is my 11 year anniversary and we are going away. If there is a change the 15th would work perfect, because we have to pick up our children in Canton, if not I hope you all have a great time and maybe we will see some of you at WDW in late Sept.

I think that we should set a firm date for the Novi meet in September. It seems like there are a lot of people interested in attending. Either the 14th or the 15th would be okay with me. It seems like we've had some people say they were busy the 14th but available on the 15th. Anyone have any thoughts?

I'm Patrick and also a lurker, I love this site and do benefit from it often. I am AP holder , DVC member since 2000. I have two boys and have been to WDW every year(sometimes twice) since 1988.
Hello! I am Gina, from Holly. I bought into BWV in 2000 (I should of done it way earlier), then added on at VWL in 2001. I just love my DVC membership and can't think of a better place to take my son for vacation. We are planning our December trip now. It sounds like there is going to be so many new things for us to do for the holiday season. I can't wait!

Hi everyone-
Since it doesn't seem like anybody has a preference as to the September date how about we just say 9-14-02 at 12 Oaks Mall in Novi so that people can start making plans if they want to come. Leave a post if this is okay with you or not & if you're interested or not.

We will be there too! Myself as well as my husband, DS 6 and DD 5. Thanks Lars for making a final decision! Sept. 14th at 1:00, do you think it would be easier at the DS so we can shop while people trickle in or at the food court? Either one is fine with me! I am just glad we have a date and time! Wooo Hoooo!

I am glad that you came up with a date and time, but we will be at the Michigan State vs. California football game that day (GO SPARTANS). Hope everyone has a great time and hope to see you down at WDW sometime in the future. I would have loved to have met everyone, since our first experience home will only be 13 days away from the 14th. Have a great time so that another will be planned in the future.

Checking in late, We are family of 4, 2 sons 12 and 9.
After staying at Dixie Landings in Jan 1993 we were hooked. We stayed on property at the moderates until 1999 when we joined DVC. We are members at Boardwalk with a small add on at Wilderness Lodge.
Unfortunately WDW has become an addiction. The "fixes" dont last as long as in the beginning ! We are now up to twice yearly and I still have withdrawal symptoms.

Late comer to the party....
Wife and I (along with 2 sons - 1 yo and 4 yo) own at OKW. Originally bought 150 points in '96 and added on an extra 80 in '99. We'd love to add more, but for now the 230 points works well for us...

Hi!, Another late poster. I am from Manistique, Mi in Upper Michigan. (hello Disneyfanlisa)! I am originally from Grosse Pointe Woods, Mi. Moved up here with the family in 76'. We have owned DVC since 95'. We are going in January for 16 days at OKW, our home resort. We own 350 points. This will be our 5th visit as DVC'ers and my 8th trip.
