Everyday during our family dinner, my Dad asks each member of our family, "What was the best thing that happened to you today?"
Because you can't pass, it forces you to think about the good things from the day no matter how awful a day you had.
So, I ask you all "What was the best thing that happened to you today?" If you read this thread I implore you to try to think of something before you just continue on your web surfing.
Today after school I was hungry before play practice, so I went to the cafeteria and bought an ice cream from the vending machine. I put in my $1.50 and the machine gave me TWO Chip-Witches! Rehearsal was much more enjoyable today.

I had a co-worker tell me (sincerely) that I am awesome. He trained me on some reports last month. When he took yesterday off I did them all and got them out the door this morning once he looked them over. He usually stresses over getting them out every month. It felt good to have somebody pay attention to something I did and tell me I do good work.
I love this question, BTW. It really forces you to reflect on your day and find the good in it.

Best thing for me is I got to go to Parents' Observation Day at my daughter's dance class.
We play a similar game at dinner called High/Low. I got it from the movie "The Story Of Us", I loved that movie and more so the idea. Sometimes it's all I get out of my teenager. I like that it gives you more of an answer then yes or no.

I held my new baby niece, Charlotte, who was born on Sunday! (I held her on Sunday too, at the hospital, but today was the first day I got to see her little fingers and toes as she was out of the hospital super-tight-swaddle).
Ohhh goodness, she's a cutie! Pink and tiny and perfect. :lovestruc

I helped a coworker secure a deal for 20 new cell phone lines for a small business. That's her entire monthly quota in one swoop. And since I was nice enough to help her seal the deal, she letting me have 5 :cool1::thumbsup2

Best thing that happened to me today was hearing how exciting my daughter was today about first day of soccer practice. Only eight 6th graders made the middle school team. I am so happy for her because she wanted it so much and worked hard for it.
Great thread, BTW. I always grill--err--inquire about the kids' days at the supper table.

I am going to cover yesterday too - hey! It's early yet!
Yesterday - I made DH read his birthday card aloud. It was a cute little "once upon a time" card with a few pages. He pulled out the voices and everyone had a great laugh, but it was a little sappy too. :lovestruc
Today - so far I have a couple of pattern ideas floating in my head, and when I saw the fabric store flyer with my morning paper, I had one of those "WOW" ideas. :goodvibes
We do this more on vacation in our family, but I think I may pull this one out over dinner too. Thanks for getting this ball rolling Gibson!

Well, since it's early today I'll do yesterday. I had a few good things happen.
I went to a work lunch with some of the players and staff from the carolina hurricanes. They did some raffles at the end of the lunch and I won one - a wine basket. The winning part was great, but since I'm 32 weeks pregnant, not so much on the wine part. :lmao: But, when I got back to work I opened up the basket and found a $50 restaurant gift certificate under the wine, so that was very cool.
The other one was DH called me on his way home from being out of town to see if I wanted to meet him for dinner out. I love it when I don't have to think about dinner! :thumbsup2
Oh, that reminds me. Today's bright spot will likely be that I have leftover Olive Garden with breadsticks for lunch! :dance3:

This is from the other day, but I am still smiling about it. I had to do some shopping. Around here you must drive 40 mile to do any real shopping. Every place I went everyone was extremely nice. I went quite a few places too. It was so nice to see everyone that waited on me be in such a good mood. It is infectious. :goodvibes

Let see since I was sick yesterday and stayed home today I will go with today. The best thing that happened today was my 3 year old snuggling with me in my lap cause I didn't feel good. I have a major sinus headache that I could not even open my eyes this morning and he kept asking you OK mama.

Great thread idea!
For me today, it was having my boss compliment me on a project I just finished. It's not necessary for me to get complimented all the time at work (cause at a certain point, I think I should be going a good job or there would be bigger problems :goodvibes) but it's nice to hear a "atta girl" once in a while. :thumbsup2

This is such an inspiring thread - from the big, grand things (pregnancy, cancer-free) to the little amazing things (love from our little ones).
Here's mine for Thursday:
Seeing the joy on DD's face that we got a package in the mail. DH made her wait until I got home to open it. As soon as I walked in the door after work tonight, she's screaming "Get the scissors, mama! Open it! What's gonna be?" It was mostly clothes from grandma, but the box was big enough to get inside, color on, DD tried to put on several pieces of clothing herself - I love seeing things through her eyes. That a cardboard box of clothes could become so many different things and entertain her for an hour.

Thanks to a diser on the family board, I found a place to get my H1N1 shot without waiting and at a place that takes my insurance, so it was FREE to me! I suddenly freaked out just yesterday that I'm due in 7 short weeks and I haven't been able to find anyplace to get a shot. I should have known the disers would come to the rescue, as they always do! :worship:

We had an impromptu family group hug tonight. DH was sitting on the floor and asked for a hug when I got home from work. DD ran over to hug me instead (she doesn't like DH to hug me - LOL) but we pulled her into our hug. We were all laughing and hugging. I actually was thinking as it happened, "This is the best part of my day." :lovestruc
