Now if I can finally decide on a schedule for which park on which day, I'll be good. This new touring plans of a number for each park is still giving me the fits. I just really want to see MK when it's posted as a .1 out of 10. I mean .1, I can't even imagine what that means.

Then there is the issue with the ADR's not showing up now, after the update to the system. Supposedly they are showing up on Disney's side, but just not online. Which is also driving me crazy. But hey anything related to Disney is a good crazy. Right?

I did the same thing yesterday. As far as the dining, I only called because some of the ADR's weren't showing up online. They were all there, it's a website glich. But I also had to cancel a few ADR's, and since they weren't showing up online I had to cancel them over the phone.

When you start planning a vacation 6 months out or more, it's just so hard to believe it when it gets this close.

I think it would depend on how your child handles surprises, or changes in plans.

Example: I originally planned on doing an elaborate ruse for my DS 10 when we go in a few weeks, pretending to my parents and then stopping off at Disney .. just for the day However, after careful consideration, I've realized that he is much like me. He likes to plan things out, have a good grasp of what's going to happen. So we backed it up to the drive down from his mom's house. A whole day earlier :lmao:...... see lot's of time for him to plan and get comfy with the idea right? right? :rotfl2:

Pumba's Truth is right- it depends on your child. I waited until we were in the car and over 2 hours down the road to WDW before I told DD (then 9). She was thrilled- cried with joy when she found out and told me I was "the best Mom ever!!" She LOVES surprises, though, and has been to WDW often enough that she doesn't bother with pre-planning. She leaves it all up to me.

If you have a little one who really enjoys the anticipation and planning, and you can put up with the hourly questions of "How long until we leave, Mom?", then go ahead and tell her as a special Halloween surprise. You could even make it a fun scavenger hunt for her.

If she is a roll-with-the-punches type who likes surprises, wait until you are on your way. She will be thrilled and remember this trip as the one where she didn't know she was going until the day she left. DD still loves to tell people about her surprise trip, and it has been almost 3 years ago.

Just a thought anyways.

Love it - I'm going to put this together for this weekend! She loves scavenger hunts, so this will be the best of all worlds. Plus telling her this weekend will help explain why she has extra homework and needs to take her spelling test early next week. :)

We surprised her with a cruise trip last Thanksgiving and it didn't go over as well as we'd hoped. We'd stayed in a hotel without a pool and told her the morning of the cruise that we were going over to another hotel for swimming. Then we pulled up to the cruise terminal and told her "I know, lets get on the boat and use their pool!" We'd cruise with her several times before, so at first she was like "Yeah!" but then she got quiet and nervously said "no, we shouldn't do that". I think she thought we were sneaking in and would get in trouble. :)

She doesn't normally like the longterm countdown, but does seem to like to focus on events that are close. I'm guilty of beating the longterm countdown horse to death, constantly saying "Only 5 more months till ...." and she usually tells me "Mom, just tell me when it's time." Keeping this a secret has been REALLY hard for me. ;)

We have 2 girls, 5yrs and 5 mo, it will be Bailee's 6th birthday on the 16th. We have the quick dining plan. On her B-day we are getting hair done at BBB and doing lunch with the princesses in Epcot. We don't have park hoppers so we are stuck in one park/day. I was thinking MK on 13th and 14th, HS on 15th, Epcot on 16th, and ? for the 17th.

We are now in the 10 day window, and just completed on-line check in!:cool1: We will be staying at BWV 7-13 Nov. Never stayed at a deluxe before, we are more All-Stars of SoG types...but we will be with our son, his wife, and our first grandchild, who will be making her first visit to t he World!:love:

We will be doing QSDP because we will be so close to F & W, we figured having those extra snack credits would be the way to go.

Did you know that Duffy the Disney bear will be a new Character at EPCOT. Super Saturation. There will be a new Meet & Greet, they'll have Duffy Bears available for sale, and then in each country, you can buy an outfit themed to that country for your Bear. Duffy if you don't know, seems to be Mickey Mouse's beloved lovey teddy. My DD8 has a book about him. And I heard on WDW News Today podcast that the KIDCOT stations will be rethemed to Duffy crafts. My daughter is SO excited about this.

Well, yeah I know about the ADRs I've been working on mine since July (I thought we booked late - :rotfl:)

Anyways - as for taking walk ups - Disney usually allows for over booking with some regards, so you may be out of luck, but ..... it doesn't hurt to try because there are always going to be those who do not show up for their ADR for whatever reason.

Especially with the the issue of seeing ADRs on line- Some people may have already decided not to go but aren't going to call in to find the reservation to cancel it. I know I am waiting until we have made definite decisions before I call and cancel the ones I can't see. I only want one LD phone call thanks ... LOL

Good luck, and keep trying for your ADR as it may come up as time grows closer - I just got a Le Cellier dinner last week. So you never know ... here's some of that special dust for ya .... pixiedust:

Sorry... missed this yesterday. No, I do not yet know what the craft will be. I hope it is something different from the masks. My DD didn't really care for that. My DD8 is so excited about the Duffy stuff. Apparently, several years ago, we got a plastic Duffy as an accessory for Mr. Potato Head at Once Upon a Toy and I had forgotten about it. And my DD8 has the Mickey book about how Minnie gives him Duffy. Duffy was very low key before.

Also, one time while waiting for our food at Columbia Harbour House, a cast member gave my DD and Niece coloring pages and crayons, and then he put their pictures up somewhere on the wall. So, it never hurts to ask about it.

In two days I will be flying to Orlando right now! Woohoo! The first two days of the trip are forecasted to be 50% chance of rain, bummer. One is our travel day, we just have the afternoon and didn't plan to go to a park that day. The other is out Epcot day, hope it holds off! Also looks like some cooler 70-degree temps. High 70's even low 70's will stil be fine for shorts, especially since you'll be walking around---I am planning to bring a LIGHT long sleeve "jacket" with me. Of course she could wear inbetweens/ capris, but I prefer shorts unless it is below 70. In fact, I'm an avid tennis player and we have a general rule about the weather and whether or not to wear a tennis skirt or pants/sweats---if it is above 50*, stick w/ tennis skirt and if it's 50 or below, pants. HOpe this helps. A sweatshirt can go a long way too---if you arre wearing shorts and sweatshirt if it is 72 or lower should suffice---I think.

Try Holidays around the World in Epcot. We got a great picture with the Three Kings in Mexico! France and England have nice santas. You can also see Santa & Mrs. Clause in America.

They also have a cute holiday display in the front of Epcot, I think it was Mickey & Minnie and I think Donald was selling trees!:santa:

I don't know if they decorate the exact same every year..but I took a very nice picture in front of a display at EPCOT, maybe it was near England... it was a life sized toy soldier, a toy chest and other holiday acoutraments. I'll see if I can find the picture. I didn't upload it to Facebook. :confused: In front of the Gingerbread house at the Grand Floridian would be a really nice place to take a pic too.

Oh Fariy God Mailers are so cool!! Your Fairy God Mailer is someone who will be at Disney before you and will send a postcard (from Cinderella, Mickey etc wink wink) to your family. They can say, "I am so excited about your visit and I'm looking forward to seeing you". Or "we are preparing everything for your arrival". Something along those lines.

I think it would be cool for someone to send one AFTER your visit as well to say "It was so good to have breakfast with you" or "It was so good to meet you".

How fun is that?

Three years ago, ours was with Donald in front of the Christmas Tree Farm. I know it was during MVMCP so I'm not sure if that "scene" is there at other times as well. Cute Cute.

There is also a carriage in Liberty Square outside of a brick building (sorry I can't remember which building, but Liberty Square is fairly small so you should see it). I couldn't find a picture of it decorated at Christmas. It is richly decorated and makes for an awesome picture.

but between then and now is lots to do including having a parent-teacher conference. Fortunately, it was called by me so I am leading the discussion and am not walking into it blind. But I am still worried about it because of what I have to bring up. I was awake for two hours in the middle of the night thinking about it and of course thinking about packing and getting to Disney.

I am so looking forward to getting to Disney and enjoying my time in my favorite place. Just have to get this weight off my mind first. Hopefully I can get some sleep in the car later.
