Hi, another question here. Does anyone have any recommendations on hotels near port canaveral that are economical but nice and clean. We're driving in the night before and don't want to spend the big $$$ before getting on the ship.
thanks for any suggestions!!! (p.s. we are family of 5: 2 adults/3 smaller children).

We stayed at the Royal Mansions on the Beach for about $80
a night. It was clean and comfy and very close to where you
board the ship. You can even see the ships leaving from the
beach. It is more of a condo/suite hotel. We booked this
thru Hotel Kingdom. If you have any questions, please contact
me!!!!

I booked through Hotwire.com and got the Hilton, right on the beach, for $42. Room was big and clean. The pool isn't real big, but we enjoyed the day on the beach the day before our cruise. If you enjoy BBQ'd food, Sonny's is right up the street. Good food great prices. We were only about 10 mins. from the port.

Radisson Resort at the Port is the closest hotel to the port and has a shuttle service also, plus Avis is onsite if you are renting a car.Rates are around $140 during your time frame.

Is it necessary to book before arriving or do you think they will still have availability when we arrive (no specific hotel)? I'd hate to book and then not actually make it that far driving :-):)

We too were looking for a cheap hotel for our cruise this September. So we jumped on HotWire and secured the Hilton for approx 38.00. I heard the pool isn’t too big but the hotel is right on the beach.

Thanks 4nana for the information. You gave me an excellent idea and I wanted to share what I learned in the process with everyone cruising some time next Spring.

I called the noted 800 for Radisson and explained I wanted a standard room for April 25th. (7-night Western Cruise April 26th) and wanted to know if they would honor this "Fall Special" provided I prepaid for 2 rooms.

They couldn't do this; doesn't hurt to ask though :p however the agent did note that some time in December/January that they will run a "Spring Special" like this one so to look for it. $59 for a standard room at the Radisson is certainly a good deal.

Something to consider.

My mom, sister and 2 nieces are staying at the Howard Johnson Express which is about 1 mile from the ship. It costs approx $59.

So if you book a room on their $59.00 fall special can you still leave your car their for the 4 days?????

I'd have to double check this on the RAdisson website to be 100% sure .. but believe it is the general policy to allow free parking for any hotel guest during their cruise time. Also, saw someone posting this on another thread regarding parking at the Radisson there.

I want to thank everyone for all of their help on finding a room. I believe that we are going to go with the Radisson and just shuttle to the port from there. That seems to be the easiest option. Thanks for the info on the fall special, that came in handy!!! Everyone have a nice weekend!

I just got a reply from the hotel on rates for Sept 2003 and he stated that there is free parking while you are on the cruise. Here is there email address if you have more ? radport@aol.com

Hi~~yes you can park there for "free" while on the cruise if you have booked a room and stayed there before leaving on the cruise.

**Here is the skinny on the fall special rates. I called the toll free number and the hotel direct on the fall rates. I was told that during our trip time (october 6) we could NOT book at the $59 or the $99 rate. The cheapest quote I could get was $129.00.....if your time frame is different maybe you can get it at that quote, but I couldn't no matter who I talked to.

Also, if you do opt to stay at the Radisson you will have to schedule a time to be shuttled to the cruise port when you check in (at least this is what I was told).

Hope some of this helps.

Hi jwolfe

Just got back and we stayed at the Radisson. Very nice and very close. If you are going to take the Radisson shuttle over - make sure you get a reservation. I didn't realize they took reservations for the shuttle and when I inquired the first available was at 2:00 p.m. We wound up taking a taxi over to the Magic.

You could not get the $59 or $99 rate for you stay on October 6 of this year? HMMMmmmmmm .... I looked up the rates on Radisson's site for that date, departing the next night and it displays a "Visit Florida Std" rate of $59 and a "Visit Florida Ste" rate of $99. On both rates it does display available rooms. Either their website is messing up or something is wrong there.

I hope its not their website because I did book a room through their site at the $99 rate.

wow ... this is wild. Through the Radisson's website the 4th can be booked .. and the 6th ... but not the 5th at the $59 or $99 rates. Shucks! They must be having something there that night or not what. Interesting.

Glad someone else checked too! I was beginning to think I was a little crazy:) . Anyway, does anyone think it's worth $129 +tax for that night? We will be getting in pretty late that night and I'm worried that when we reserve our shuttle ride it will be one of the later ones since we'll be arriving late. Any suggestions ?

Yeah .. isn't that just so unfortunate .. every night around your day can be booked .. but not that date. Darn it.

Tough decision you have there .. hmmmmmm ..... I know Shirley from The Perfect Gift did mention that the Motel 6 was nice and pretty close. Shirley is a great help.
