Booked this morning at the first available Gold booking window!
We are on the Aug 16th as well!
It will be myself (Nita)
Dear Husband (Michael)
Dear Daughter (Sarina) who will be 11 at the time of sailing
Dear Son (Nathaniel) who will be 6 at the time of sailing.
The sailing will be our 9th sailing.
We are excited. We're booked in a Sideways room...Virtual porthole.
We've been calling it
"Double Dipping Dreams before the School Bell Rings" all day today. This will be the last week before school commences in Texas so that will be our big 'send off to summer' prior to School starting the following Monday.

We'll be celebrating (although about a week early) our wedding anniversary as well.
My kiddos are so excited. It is sooooo far away though.
I bet the list of families grows fast. I was surprised this sailing was considerably cheaper than just one week prior.

I booked this cruise for my DW and I this morning. I'm hoping we can keep this date, but it all depends on what date my DD and her soon-to-be fiance decide to get married. It could through a monkey wrench into mom and dad's plans.
Below, is the price I received, when I called at 8am this morning:
Cat. 10A 2A $1652.34 excludes transfers/insurance
The price was $779.00pp, I am paying $769.00pp for our 4 day cruise in April 2010 for the same category cabin.

Hey neighbor! I can't believe the difference in price between the 7th and the 16th. It's like they made a mistake or something. I was so sure the prices were going to be through the roof. (like the 2010 5-nighter's) Very glad I was wrong! :thumbsup2 I just may switch categories before the week is out. I keep looking at those aft balconies! lol :rotfl:

Well, I can't book until Monday. I have a quote request in to my TA at DU. I was originally considering the earlier 5-night, but looking at the prices...wow, what a difference! I guess because of school schedules? Whatever the reason, I'm thrilled with it. Really looking forward to trying the new ship.

We're booked, CAT 9A Deck 8
2 rooms/4 people 2A, 2K (14, 12) at sailing
Will be traveling with 2 sets of friends with kids:
2A, 3K (14, 12, 6)
2A, 4K (14, 12, 11, 5)
As for the difference in price between the two weeks, we cruised this past August on what should have been a Tortola route (changed to Western). The difference between that week and the week before was about $1500 less so I hoped it would be the same this time around. Glad to hear it is.

Hi! We're booking on this cruise as well. Still need to decide on the actual category. At various times when I looked today 11C, 10A and 9A were all in GTY status. And at one point, 11C was no longer an option for 4 people, but it opened back up, though at GTY status. When I went back to look at the 10A GTY, it had opened back up with actual rooms.
But we're excited to be on the ship!

If you've booked 9A GTY, you are guaranteed to get assigned at least a Cat 9A room. You could get assigned a room in a higher category as well, which would in essence be a *pixie dust* upgrade, since you'd be getting a more expensive room at the lower room price.
Rooms have generally been assigned 30-45 days out.

Hi everyone. New to this board (2nd post). We booked this cruise today. Third Disney cruise for our family (we've done Western and Eastern Caribbean before). We're in a category 6a--room 10664 (back of the ship). Anyone have any thoughts about being on the back of the ship? It seems convenient to get to the kids' pools and elevators, but my DH is concerend we might not see anything off the balcony if we're in the back. Probably overthinking this! Can't wait. Wish it were next summer.

Hey we are on this one too!
I must apologize if I do not post much from now and until mid-December as we have a family reunion trip to WDW very soon. I feel as if I have ten thousand things to do. We leave in 18 days and I was little miffed with Disney making me plan our next trip before we came back from this one. :rotfl:
Have three staterooms, category 11B, in row on deck 7. This is DH and I's third cruise, DS 2nd, and youngest DS first.
MY BIL And SIL are in one of the rooms and this is their second, their son and his family are in the other, this is their first cruise.
HOPEFULLY - things stay as planned!!

Hi! I booked this afternoon for this cruise for my DS(13 at cruise) and I in a cat 9A. I noticed a few people here said it was in GTY status earlier, but my TA got me in 6502. I guess rooms are being held and then released as people decide what they want to do.
This will our 3 Disney Cruise, we did a 4 night double dip in 2008, and we are doing the 8/12/11 4 night right before this one with my parents, 2 sisters, 1 bil, 3 nephews, and maybe one niece. the 8/16 5 night is just for me and the kiddo.

Looks like we are going to be neighbours :thumbsup2
we're back there too in 10162 6A cat
This will be our 5th cruise so we will be gold castaway club members after this one
there will be me Jackie , DH Micheal ,DS Aidan 19 and DS Micheal who will be 13 at the time of sailing

Ha! That's the room I changed from! Welcome aboard. :thumbsup2
Cool, Disney minds think alike you know....Thanks for the welcome!
Welcome!
We're right across from you in 2028! :thumbsup2
Sounds great! Glad to get a room mid ship, of course I'll appreciate it if I get upgraded as well....;)
So you're the one! That's one of the 2 11C rooms I was looking for! (non-connecting ones). Great deal!
I also looked at 2525 right across the hall. I hope deck 2 isn't too noisy, what with the restaurant on it. What category did you decide on?
I saw in your sig that you were once upgraded to the Roy suite!! That must've been awesome - I think I would have fainted! What cat. were you when that happened??
So glad to be on board! Hope the time flies for us all!

Booked this afternoon! Category 8C, Deck 7, aft (7180). This is non-connecting and sandwiched between two decks of just staterooms. Excellent. This will be our first Disney cruise! We've booked three times but have always ended up cancelling. This time I am determined to go!:goodvibes

I booked a 6b back there, because I thought it would be a great view from back there. Just my opinion though.
My first choice was the back of the ship. When I booked every cabin was open, I was the first one! Took a 6b.
I think all the way aft will be wonderful. We always book aft for the location, but being on the butt of the ship you can sit and watch the world fade away. How nice!
Looks like we are going to be neighbours :thumbsup2

Thanks for the insight. Very helpful. My only reservation now about this stateroom is the solid wall verandah. Not sure if it makes sense to switch to a 5E to get the plexiglass.

Hi!! We are booked!!! We will be joining you on the Dream!!! :cool1::cool1:It will be me, DH, DS (12), DD (9) and DS (8). We are in a Cat 8B room 9158!!! Soooo excited!!:yay::yay: We had booked a 5 night for Aug 2010 and they were able to apply the credits and discount to the Aug '11 cruise and b/c of the new inside rooms we only need 1 cat 8 room!!! We never used the balcony on the Magic last year!! Actually I used it once to dry clothes and the ship encountered a flock of migrating birds that manage to use the balconies for a rest area and a bathroom :eek:!!! So we really don't need it!!!
Question??? Does anyone know what a Cat 8A is??? Is it really bigger??

I still haven't decided on a category or room yet. Still debating between 11C, 10A (if they come available again), 9B and 9A.
When we upgraded to the Roy suite last year we went from Cat 6 to Cat 1. It was wonderful! We're in for a shock on our next cruise in Dec, though, since we booked Cat 12 and were assigned Cat 10. And we have a Cat 8 room booked in January on the Wonder. Our 2 cruises thus far ended up being in Cat 3 and Cat 1, so we've yet to sail outside of Deck 8.

We are very excited. Can't wait to meet you all!!!

Woohoo, August 29th Alumni here:rotfl:! We are also booked on the 5 day double dip (this is cruise #3). We are thrilled about the price, $3860 for a family of 5 in an 8D - stateroom 6672 (we usually have to book a Cat. 4 - and we used the balcony just a handful of times this last cruise). That large Porthole looks great, and the girls have already "called" it for Day 1-5!

Well, back to work tomorrow for me....Hopefully I don't day dream too much. :goodvibes
So how far in advance do you all put in for vacation? I'll feel kinda silly putting in 21 months in advance as I'm not even sure I'll still be there or what sort of changes will be made between now and then. I know one coworker who put in a request a year out for a vacation. Thoughts anyone??

Wow! this board is rocking already! I just booked this cruise with my dummy date from the Hallowonder cruise last month. There are 4 of us Me-Celebrating the big 4-0, DH-older than me, DD-Amber 14 on the cruise, and DS-Jake 10 on the cruise. Wow that's wierd thinking that my daughter will be a teenager! :scared1: I know this is really early but I'm in if we are doing a FE, my kids had such a great time with it on this last cruise. I like the name "Double Dipping Dreams before the School Bell Rings" that Texasgirl came up with! It fits my crew perfectly, I'm not even sure when our school starts that year because the calander is not out yet. I hope they don't miss the first day of school because we're on a cruise!

I'm new to the board, but we're 8/29 alumni too (celebrated our 10th anniversary). We were hoping the Magic would stay in the US for the Summer of 2011, but 5 days with two stops in CC on the Dream is almost as good.

Hi All...sounds like quite of few of you already know each other from previous cruises, so I am guessing there are kids that have some built in friends for this trip.
My son asked yesterday if the kids would have a place to "talk" before the cruise..he met a few friends on the boards prior to our last trip and is interested in doing the same this time. If I have counted the posts correctly, there are already 12+ kids in the 11-13 range, which I think is the right ages for the tween club (which looks pretty cool). Last cruise, someone with a lot more skill than I :),set up a kid's website, so they could talk, but more privately than the disboards. Anyone interested, or would everyone be okay with a separate thread for the kids here?
My DS will be 13 at the time of the cruise (just a couple weeks shy of starting eight grade!! That sounds crazy since we have only put a dent in his sixth grade year!)
thanks for any thoughts!

My son is in the same scenario - just started 6th grade but will be 13 and just shy of starting 8th grade when we cruise. He is so excited about a teen club. We were on the wonder 2 weeks ago and he went to the club for about 1 hour total. He got so used to Ocean Quest on the Magic that he said the lab was for little kids.

Hi Winnyis! I thought I saw a couple of us Hallowonders here, I think SNicksed was on our cruise too! My kids would love to do a kids chat area if someone knows how to do that. Also if someone could make a list of everyone on here that would be cool too. I'm just not that computer savvy to be able to do those things! My kids didn't really get into the kids clubs that much on the last cruise but I'm hopeful that they will want to go there on this cruise. Maybe if they were chatting with other kids before the cruise that would help.

I have to admit that this is the first summer cruise we've ever booked, and I'm already noticing a much different, perhaps more vibrant, tone to the cruise than some of the others I've been on. It's great to see the large number of kids on this cruise just on the dis alone. I guess since we've always cruised during the school year, the number of kids has been generally lower.
We've also done DIS meets on the ship generally at 3pm in the Promenade lounge on embarkation day. Plus bracelets and t-shirt designs, and other fund ways to identify your fellow DISers! Has anyone come up with a name yet??
Oh yeah, it'll be me, DH, DS 7.5 and DD 4.75 on the cruise.

Yes!!! We just came off the 10/29 HalloWonder cruise, too! That was a great cruise with perfect weather! :worship:
Our DS Ryan will 12 and 3/4 when we sail. He wasn't into the lab much either. I think getting to know other kids ahead of time would help.
This is going to be a fun time leading up to this cruise! :thumbsup2

I can't create a website, but I could create a Facebook group that the kids could use. We could set it up so an admin would need to approve who joins, and lock it down, so anyone that is not a member of the group could not view any of the info.
I don't know how comfortable I am having my son post info here on the boards, (although I know it should be okay, i am just never sure who is lurking) and I would feel better with a much more controlled page.
If enough are interested, I will happily get it set up, and then anyone that wants their kids involved, can send me a PM, and I would know who to approve on Facebook as a group member. Anyone who hasn't sent me a PM first on this board, would not be approved to join the group on Facebook. Other parents would be welcome to join, if you want to monitor your kid's conversations.
the only thing I guess some people might be uncomfortable with would be full names are used on Facebook, although you could create a "screen" name instead of using full name.
If I am overthinking this, and everyone is okay with a kids only thread here on the disboard, please say so!
other suggestions? or if there are any website gurus that are interested in building a site we can password protect, go for it!!

Last cruise we did a meet at the Goofy pool. We sold 400 bracelets so we could i.d. each other. It was described as a roudy craps game with a woman drinking out of a bottle of champagne (that was me)!:drinking1:drinking1

I figure the cabanas will be outrageous! The ones at WDW waterparks are $250 a day for 6. I bet at CC they will be a lot more!
Don't worry about booking Palo, we'll also have Remeys! I usually book the private room and have a dinner party with my DisPeeps! It's nice for the people who can't get reservations.

Speaking of TA's, OBC and all that good stuff.
I still have a 2010 Wonder cruise booked.
This cruise I booked through DCL. No discount, no OBC. Anyone have a good TA that gives deals and perks if I sell them the reservation? We normally use AAA for a $150 OBC. Not sure if they can offer that with the dream.

LOL, the last two cruises....we had "bad" luck it you want to call it that..........This last cruise though worked out two stops at CC. It was soo nice the itinerary was a bit rushed with so many ports, we did, CC, Cozumel, Cayman Islands, and back to CC. But it was GREAT!!

I was also on a hurricane cruise - in 2004 - I was on the Magic that got extended to 10 days from 7 days due to all the hurricanes in Florida. It was great on my end but bad for the people who had the cruise after us booked as they got a shortened cruise.
Kritter - does your TA except transfers. I have 4 ressies booked for my family - all through DCL directly. I didnt want to leave it to a TA to get them initially booked because I didnt know where on their lists we would be. But if I can get my family some extra OBC that would be great.

Hello Everyone! We are joining in!
It will be myself, DH, DD (15 when we cruise) and DS (11 when we cruise). This will be our 3rd cruise and we can't wait!
On our last cruise, I created a website for our group that was really helpful. If anyone is interested, I am willing to do it again for this group. I had lists of who was cruising, information for kids to contact one another, our fish exchange list, great information about cruising, pages for each person who wanted to have a family page so we can get to know one another, etc. I know it was really helpful for my family and like I said, if people are interested, I will set one up for this cruise as well.
Have a happy day everyone!

Did I mention I'm not that good with computers? :confused3 Bracelets, Dis meets, and FE's oh my! I can't wait to do all of that great stuff! I think that's why I book with Disney instead of another cruise line. I guess that's what the board will do to ya!

Ok, this board is way to hoppin' after I went to bed last night you all added like 5 more pages!!!! Ok, so I did go to bed early. I'm cool with any chat room you guys want to set up for the kiddos but if we do facebook someone will have to walk me through getting an account there. Did I mention I'm not that good with computers? :confused3 Bracelets, Dis meets, and FE's oh my! I can't wait to do all of that great stuff! I think that's why I book with Disney instead of another cruise line. I guess that's what the board will do to ya!
Last cruise we did an FE exchange and it was GREAT. We also ordered landyards which wee sooo cool!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Kritter,
You and I will be in the same boat! I have rotten hurricane luck. We were on the famous Hurricane Jeanne cruise.
For those on the boards who don't know me, I do hurricane forecasting when we get within 30 days of our sail date. I call them my tropical updates. DH and I (unitl June) are TV people.

Booked myself via DCL. We are onboard in a couple of weeks so I am going to see if I can rebook to get discount and credit and THEN I will transfer it to Carol!

Love the website idea! I am exhausted just trying to keep up with all the posts already! I am bringing two families with us on the cruise who have never cruised before. I am not sure they really believe me when I tell them how enthusiastic Disney Cruisers really are - wait until I put them onto this thread! They already think I am a nut with how obsessed I have been over the years with planning Disney cruises.
Looking forward to getting to know everyone - what a great group! :yay:

since midnight there have been 66 posts and the day is not over.
we're 643 days from sailing.
643 x 66 = 42,438 posts by August 16, 2011 give or take a few THOUSAND!!!

We booked 4D for this cruise. May change to a porthole though as the kids are intrigued by the seating in the porthole. I hate to give up my verandah but it would save a few bucks!
We will be at WDW Dec. 27 - Jan. 2. How about you?

On our last cruise, I created a website for our group that was really helpful. If anyone is interested, I am willing to do it again for this group. I had lists of who was cruising, information for kids to contact one another, our fish exchange list, great information about cruising, pages for each person who wanted to have a family page so we can get to know one another, etc. I know it was really helpful for my family and like I said, if people are interested, I will set one up for this cruise as well.

We are so excited! After working with the TA today, we have our 2 rooms booked! We will have 1 for the kids and 1 for DH and me!!!! All the deposits are done and I have confirmation numbers!
I had decided last night after seeing the price form our TA. This morning, I asked her to check on the price of 2 rooms and decided to just go ahead and book it that way instead!
So, as I said, last cruise I did our cruise website and if people want...I will do this one as well. I can start it right away but just need to hear from people. I would password protect the site and people can send me a PM to get the log in information. It was such a great help for our last cruise and I think it could be wonderful again! Let me know what you all think and I will get started ASAP!

Here are some of the things you can PM to me:
• names (and ages of kids) of everyone in the cabin
• stateroom number
• dining rotation
• where you are from
• celebrations you will have while onboard
• let me know if you want your own family page (I will give you more information if you want this - it is fun to create these!)
• will you be doing more than the cruise (like WDW before or after)?
• do you want to be a part of the fish exchange?
I will be adding more but this is a great start! Share as much or as little as you want in your PM and I will create the pages!

If you sent me information for a family page or other things I did not respond to yet, I will be getting to that in a day or so.
Please let me know if you see any mistakes or if you have any suggestions. I want it to be a helpful site for everyone!
Also, if you sent me a PM and I did not get back to you, give me 24 hours. If you still have not heard from me, send me another message. I try to be as quick as I can but sometimes I get a lot of PMs at once and even though I try to be careful...I do miss some. Sorry in advance if I miss yours!
