Just wondering if anyone who was recently there has been able to either convert their counter service credits to snack credits or just use them in place of them. I'm thinking we might end up with some leftover credits. Thanks for your input!

Thats a real waste of money!!

I think it would be more of a waste to let them go unused. And, it's free dining, so not so much a waste of money.

I've read in the past that some people have been able to convert a CS credit for 3 snacks or something like that. Just trying to see if that has been an option in recent times. My kids aren't big eaters, so we will probably share some of our meals. That's why I think there might be leftover credits to use.

Sorry, I'm paying for my dining so to me its a waste of money!

Have not tried it but I have read that it can range from 2-3 snacks and can vary by location.

I've also heard your best bet is at food courts.
Some people have had luck talking to the concierge and getting them switched also (so I have heard).

If that does not work you can ask around when you are there.
I've heard that the answer can vary by CM, even in the same location.

There does not seem to be an official policy and even if someone was able to do it yesterday it does not mean you can today.

Good luck and since it is "Free" don't worry too much.

From what I have read, I agree that the food courts seem to be the places to go (as opposed to the theme park locations). Also, reports seem to indicate that the value resorts are more flexible on this. Again, results vary widely and you would need to ask before gathering your goodies!

Some people have actually successfully had their credits "converted" at their resort guest services. I have tried none of the above as flying international, I really don't want to take food in my luggage :scared1:! However, if you don't ask you don't get. I would also suggest that you don't leave it until your check out day to try. That gives you more time to be persistent. If you are midway or so through your stay and find you are looking at too many credits left, start finding out then.

We were there the first week in October and twice I was behind someone in line that was doing just that....once at Goofy's Candy Company, the woman had 4 CS meals left over and was getting 3 snacks in exchange for 1 meal (why do I always get behind these people??) and the clerk knew exactly what to do. Then again 20 minutes later I was behind another couple at Earl of Sandwich that was doing the same thing there (3 snacks was 1 CS credit there too). No problem either place (except that the lady in front of me at Goofy's could not make up her mind about what she wanted :confused3!)....my daughter told me to buck up because the lady in front of her in line at Goofy's was trying to use up 26 snack credits and then just when she thought she was finished she decided to use up the rest of her counter service credits there too!

We did it in June at All Star Movies. We never would of thought of it either.

The cast members suggested it to us.

Last Oct we had tons of CS left at Animal King Ldg. When we asked if we could get a snack instead of the food part, it was a big fat NO!

Sorry, but to me, paying for dining would be a waste of money. We were on the free DDP last week, and it worked out wonderfully for us.

Well, you are not her, so why does it matter to you? She asked what was possible, not if it was a waste of money. And yes...it's worse to not use them at all. OP, good luck finding an answer!

WOW! What did she get? Besides a sugar rush, I mean. :rotfl:

You must have been in line behind me because that's exactly what I did (though I think it was different credits, but still...an absurd amount)...Earl of Sandwhich too.....so sorry to keep you waiting if you were in fact behind me.

We just tried to do this at Saratoga Springs on Sunday and the CM said they could convert snack credits to counter service, but not the other way around. I thought this seemed very strange, but was too tired to challenge it. We ended up with too many counter service credits. If we had had more time I would have asked another CM somewhere else, but we were on our way out. Hope you have better luck than I did!

Wow, that is really strange. I've always heard there was no trading up. We'll have to start trying earlier in the week if it looks like we'll have extra credits. Thanks!

I agree - that to me is on the same line as trading CS for TS .... and we all know the answer to that one! Did you do it mousekis? I am sure the CM there must have misunderstood your question and even if not, it sounds very strange. Not questioning you, but I doubt you were given correct info. What were they suggesting - trading 3 snacks for CS? :confused3

In January we were able to use 3 Snack credits for one CS credit. WE just got back on Monday and the CM at Captain Cooks said they are no longer allowed to do that. no snack credits to replace a CS credit. We had a few CS credits left over so just got muffins and drinks with those and left the food.

I asked a cm at CBR what I could do with extra cs credits. She took me right over to the gift shop and pointed out all the little boxes of cookies and pretzels and rice krispy treats. She told me I could choose 4 items for every cs I wanted to exchange.

Maybe I just got lucky!!

I did not trade the snack credits for counter service. I am pretty sure the CM understood my question, but I guess you never know. I assumed she was misinformed, but it wasn't worth making a big deal about. We had plenty of food on this trip. :thumbsup2

We too anticipate having a number of CS credits left over. And we've been wondering how we can get the CMs to allow us to exhange them for snacks. Thanks for the tips, Dissers!:)
The only problem I see now is getting the snacks packed and lugging them clear across the other side of the globe where we live without damaging them. We'll probably get those big Disney cookies and rice krispy treats. Does anyone know if they sell those at the resorts? Or are they exclusive to the parks and DTD??

I have been daydreaming and have come up with this "if only'.

If only they would give you a certain amount of credits per day for the dining plan. 1 credit for a snack, under a certain amount, 3-4 for each CS meal, 8-20 credits for TS meals depending on price range of food. That way folks could truly use the DP to fit their way of eating. You could pay less or more according to how many points you wanted to buy. My point values might be a bit off but you get the general idea.

Yep, you can get them at the resorts. We also do a longhaul flight but I don't usually bother with the snacks. Takes up room that could be occupied by new shoes from my quick flit around the mall ....! AFAIK you can only get the "small" mickey treat as a snack on the DDP, but you can get the larger crispie squares. ;)
