Jamie and I are in 8504, 9A right in the front with a sweeping ocean view (that corner room) for the inaugural.

Then we are staying B2B and moving down the hall to 8563 cat 11A "Virtual stateroom" for the second cruise.

Wanted to try out two different staterooms so I can get a better idea of what I like on the new ship.

I will be wearing my swimsuit to the port under our clothes so we can be first on the Aquaduck.

Shrimp can wait!

6. and have a gazillion DVC points
7. Has the potential to be retired by then
8. AARP member
and a few other things.... to be determined at a later date... LOL

We are two nurses from South Jersey (alias Disney Dudette Two and Three:earsgirl::earsgirl:) cruising together and reuniting with dear friends :grouphug: including Disney Dudette One. Some of our dear friends already posted and that's how I knew about this board! Pooh Friend #1 Heidi and Chris and Jiminy C fan Sandy and Ted are friends who we have cruised with many times including "Bringing the Magic Home" (Panama Canal cruise) and we can't wait to see them.
We are booked in a Category 9A Cabin 6002. I have no idea where we are. All I knew is I wanted to be on this maiden voyage with my friends!
We aren't doing the back to back but we are going to WDW before the cruise. I would miss not going to the WDW.
I really don't know how I will control my excitement until -1/26/2011!:banana::yay:

We have always bought insurance since a friend of ours was leaving the next day for a cruise, fell, broke her leg and had surgery instead of going on her cruise. They had to absorb it all. I do not gamble anymore like we use to. You just never know.........

Great question - I used a T/A and normally did not purchase DCL - instead used one that was recommended by T/A. This time the T/A recommended the DCL after some research. We all need to read the fine print, I am waiting for details. It is supposed to be a "cover-all" type, including the deposit. One catch "might be" that you have to be paid in full, before you can put in a claim. The quote I was given was reasonable (I thought).

I never have done trip insurance before, but I did it on this one. I was able to add on the DCL insurance for $69 per person and I was told that if something happened and by chance the insurance company didn't cover DCL would guarantee that they would move the $800 on deposit to another cruise.

I didn't want to take a chance and for $138 I felt it was well worth it.

We always just go through DCL. I actually needed it one year when my son got that "cruise ship sickness" that was going around a couple of years ago. We were quarantined to our room for three days and the insurance paid me for 3 days lost for me and my son.

No time for scrapbook class for this cruise. However, I see what my life schedule is like between now and then and maybe, just maybe, I could design something, have it all in packs ready to go and then everyone would just pre-pay the cost and I would deliver the packet with full instructions to you on the cruise and you would just put together on your own. Just a thought.....

Booked connecting 11A rooms on deck 8 (kids requested virtual portholes). First time in inside room and very excited to try it!

Someone asked a question on another thread about whether or not the ship will feel cramped with double the guests. Morning gang! Glad we will be cruising with so many old DIS friends and looking forward to making lots of new ones too!

We added the cruise after the MV to do the back to back and seems like alot of others are too :)

Slight irritation with DCL and hoping they 1) fix it and 2) hasn't happened to anyone else :)

We booked the Maiden Voyage, confirmed, paid deposit, everything good online, confirmation paper came in mail. Called yday to book the second cruise and asked to be placed in same staterooms if available. Those staterooms are available for second cruise, BUT, our staterooms for the Maiden Voyage have been changed! Still same category but different room assignments, different deck and not connecting. Not happy that DCL switched us without telling and supposedly a supervisor is calling us back at 11:25 a.m. today to give us the scoop (yes, 11:25 a.m.). They offered us different connecting rooms on a lower deck, higher category, more money and not available for the back to back. At this point I'm not willing to do that and since I have the room confirmation in writing would like my original rooms as booked and deposited.

Regardless, even if it's closets we will be on the first two sailings :)

someone mentioned the fact that alot of us have cruised before, YES, but it is a very friendly group of people, meeting new people is probably the best thing of all this!
alot of the people on this cruise do all DCL's First Cruises (most of them ) on whatever the ship may be!

The last time we did it we set up a specific time and date for the tour. Then (my recollection) is we had a map and started at the first one and then kept moving on to each one on the list. It was pretty funny because there was a long line of cruisers going down each hallway and going into specific rooms. The cast members were great at "staying out of our way" and making sure the rooms were clean for the day. I believe each person just let their cast member know that people were coming to see their stateroom that day and the time.

If I do it that way, then the hosts/hostesses could be at the first of the group so they could unlock their stateroom when we got to them on the list and then join the back of the group after they kick everyone out so they don't miss the other ones.

I think that will work best, because I want to see all the rooms too!

Crossing my fingers you can get a concierge level room!

That's too freaky! I grew up on Chateau St... a very very long time ago...:rotfl: Then moved out to the South Hills area. I worked at Three Rivers Stadium when it opened.... My kids were born at AGH and Divine Providence.

Just a quick note about lanyards. I will be gathering the name badge/lanyard list later on as we get closer to the cruise - so no need to to reference the lanyard list at this point. Everyone on the cruise list qualifies for name badges and lanyards. What I will be doing later is asking for the first names of everyone in each group for the name badges.

You may have seen people ask to be on the lanyard list and/or the lanyard team. The lanyard team is the group that helps pay for the lanyards and name badges. The name badges and lanyards are free to everyone on the cruise list as a gift from the "lanyard team".

Hope this helps clearify the lanyard process - or at least my version of the lanyard process.

the Design however is a Surprise
until cruise time!
Trust me they are awesome!!!!
and a great spot to keep the room key around the neck it can slide in to the holder on the lanyard!

will look into it , down side to doing a party at a tree house is that each TH is very limited in parking, like one parking space per TH. So folks would have to park and walk or shuttle, maybe we could get one of those DVC Vans for a shuttle, LOL, there was a sign to a boat dock, did not explore that, but I like the thought....

Hi MJ, I soooo wanted room 2000 but it was already booked. That's what we had on the PC. Good to have you as a neighbor! Ever since talking to you about the Magic MV, I had dreamed of doing one. Now I am! Deck 2 was our favorite deck on the Magic. I am still a bit nervous that the Dream deck two will have two small portholes. Sometimes you read yes and other times no. Wonder when we will know for sure.
