I sure hope you Platinum Cruisers leave some Palo reservations for us Gold members....

I must say I am a little upset about the January 23 sailing and I sure hope that for the money we are paying for the first "official" saling, DCL makes it special for us. I do think that since word is out about the January 23rd sailing that some people would probably cancel this sailing if the deposits had been refundable.

I'm also a little surprised to read about people recently booking the cruise in lower QTY catergories...when we booked (within the first week) we were told we could not book a QTY, we had to book an available category and cabin. I know we ended up paying more than what we wanted to but we booked the lowest category that was available.

It will be interesting to see how "busy" Remy's will actually be if they are charging $75 per person and there is no platinum perk to go like DLC offers for Palo's.

After the initial voyages on the Dream, alot of the families crusing on the Dream will be first time cruisers because of the 3 and 4 day itineraries. Even on the Wonder Palo's is usually pretty open because new cruisers just don't know about it or don't have the time to experience it.

Don't know if I want to pay $75 for me and Jamie to go to Remy's when we get to go to Palo's for free.

Yeah, I just verified w/ DCL when I made a phone pymt and I really :scared1: when he actually said $75/pp. I verified Palo to see if they were jacking that price up, but luckily it is staying @ $15/pp. I guess we'll be doing Palo for free too, unless we view the menu and decide to go for it @ Remy, which I doubt. ;)

Off to check it all out, as we can make our ressies tomorrow! :cool1:

Could be, but ya know, DCL has known this date was on the horizon for forever, so there really is no excuse as to why there is a delay, imho. They should have planned better so when the date arrived, they'd be prepared & their Platinum CC Members could book on-time.

12:00 noon really is much better for everyone on the East Coast... Then Disney can have support staff on call for web problems...

That said... Wouldn't it be nice if the Disney Web site for the cruise line

When I originally booked last year, I had to book a specific category and cabin - but I think the inventory is loosening up as the PIF date draws nearer. When I noticed some lower categories available, my DU travel agent was able to 'downgrade' me to a lower category cabin in the same general style (verandah). It might be worth a call for you to see if a lower category is available now. You may have to go into GTY, but for me, the almost $200 savings was worth it!

OK...got online at 12:01 with no difficulty.....no Palo or Remy's until tomorrow at 12:00 noon. Not interested in the spa so did not have to book that. No Nassau excursions for us (probably stay onboard)...so only thing I booked was the bike rental and floats at CC!!!

My understanding is that Remy's is going to be more of a V&A atmosphere/experience, so that's why it costs more. I originally wanted to try Remy's but at that cost I won't (don't like French food that much). I'll just stick to Palo. :)

I had a 10:00 slot checked for 2 guests, but when it came up to confirm, that slot was no longer available. I could not get 10:00 or 10:30, but had the options for 11:00, 11:30 & 12:00. I took 11:00. 11:00 is the only thing that seems to be left at the moment, as the 11:30 and 12:00 are shaded out/closed as well.

I logged on at 12:5 and there were Palo ressies open first day and CC day for dinner (didn't really want those times) but Brunch and High Tea were not available.....nothing available for Remy either....so, for all my efforts last night and rushing back home today, all I got was float and bike rentals at CC that I could have booked on the island when I got there!!! I guess it's one less thing off my list.

I will keep checking back for brunch ressies...would prefer that to dinner (I guess everyone had the same idea!!).

I will also check onboard....which was stated online that changes for dining can be made at the Guest Services desk (did not have a lounge listed like on Magic and Wonder).

Have basically assumed there will be no brunch for us, even though we are golden. I love it, even more than dinner, but with only one sea day - I not be disappointed but rather will use it to see the ship. Of course "I WANT TO DO IT ALL"....we will see.....

Strange online booking as usual for DCL.

Thanks to work meetings didn't get a chance to get on-line until about 12:40. No Remy or brunch showing. Did get Palo on the last night.

Then decided to check brunch once again and, wow, brunch showed available at 11:30 so grabbed that.

Checked Remy again and, wow, now showing slots available on the first night so grabbed that as well.

This all occured between 12:40 and 1 pm.

Don't know if it was just the way they were being loaded or if folks were cancelling reservations they had just made (there seemed to be too many time slots available for that to be the reason).

Never did see any tea slots available.

Our only grandbaby, 3 years old, has been going through a lot of medical testing as we're trying find the cause for his mini seizures. We will get the results from the tests a week from this Friday. Please remember Nate in your thoughts and prayers as we're very concerned.

And we're remodeling too! Boy that's a trip! But after 20 years the house needed an update.

I don't know if we're going to try so much for PALO brunch on the 13th or wait and try for it for the second cruise of our B2B. We'll probably come closer to getting it then.

Carol and Doug, pahrumpgirl, are coming for a visit in a couple of weeks and we'll work on our FE gifts then so I guess we're pretty much on track!

I still can't believe we're on the (cough, cough) inaugural! Both our DHs told us there was no way they'd go on the new ships until all the bugs were worked out. Two thoughts here: hopefully there won't be any BUGS and this just sets them up for the inaugural on the Fantasy!

True, a lot of people don't like using their points for cruises but remember, the point per cruise price includes meals. And, it's very nice paying our $95 to book and we're done!

To each his own. In fact, we'll be using 1/2 points, 1/2 cash for the 2011 DVC members' cruise.

Either way you use them, enjoy!

We usually use our points for WDW because the category we book on DCL usually works out to be cheaper if paying cash. We are doing inside cabins for the Member cruise on points (hope this works with the virtual porthole because I am claustrophobic and usually need an outside cabin). I think it all depends on your number of points and how you are happiest spending them. :goodvibes

Yesterday was way to stressful with the pandamonium of platinum members booking at once. I am in agreement that DCL is holding back some of the brunch ressies for both Gold and Silver as well as on board booking, and think everyone will be rushing to book this venue once on board. We did snag a dinner at Palos. We wanted to try because it's a free perk. I was unaware that Platinum members are "guaranteed" a slot for a Palos dinner... I never heard that one, only that if you book one it's "free."

We were hoping for brunch, as it is a favorite to go with friends and oooh and aaah over all the great arrangements of foods, laughing, giggling, and smiling the whole time. :thumbsup2

All in all we are very happy just to be able to go.

Thanks for the update Tracy. What disappointing news for everyone! :confused: If that is really the case, it would be a first with DCL, and would not be well received by their guests.

They should post that information on their website as well as greying out the Remy button instead of letting you select it only to be told there is nothing available.

A possible correction...maybe things have changed....I booked the Wonder for Mother's Day less than a week before sailing. There were no Palo reservations available...concierge called me 3 or 4 days before we sailed to book my "free" dinner at Palo. I was told it was a courtesy.

December 1st sound like a good cut off date to me. It still gives us time for more to join the party. The day at sea sounds good for the room tour too. Our room is available since it is a handicapped room,maybe it is a little different for everyone to see. I bought a FE on ebay today so am really getting excited now. Actually, I have been besides myself with excitement since I booked the cruise. Just wish I had known we could do a back to back. Oh well, will do it another time.

You are the queen of the PJ Breakfast, so I thought I'd ask. Daniel is on the Dream so I could give him a heads up before we get on the inaugural cruise and a tentative idea of how many people.

We've decided to hire a car on our arrival at MCO and use it for the 2 days that we're at OKW, then we'll drive down to their rental place at PC early doors on the Wednesday and drop it off.

We'll then get Disney transport back to MCO on the Sunday and we've hired a day room at the Hyatt ($89 + tax .. 10am-6pm) so we can relax before our flight at 7.30pm!

At least it's one less thing to worry about .. now I've just got to figure out what company to use!!:confused3

HERE, is what I would do. Take, Magical express to OKW, Night before the cruise Go to DTD , Walk across the street pick up a rental car from Avis, drive to Port, drop car and take there shuttle to ship...

According to the thread on the main board, this is the message that is posted:

"Disney has announced that their reservation systems will be down for maintenance next week. The enhancement will be taking place from October 12 at 4 pm EST through the morning of October 14."

"Room-only and vacation-package reservations will not be able to be processed for the Walt Disney World Resort, Disneyland Resort, Aulani, the newest Disney Vacation Club resort, Disney's Vero Beach Resort, and Disney's Hilton Head Island Resort by phone or online. This will affect making new reservations, making modifications to existing reservations, checking confirmations and taking payments.

Also affected will be the ability to use online check-in and to make reservations for dining, dinner shows, tours, recreation Cirque du Soleil and children's activity centers.

If you need to make a payment or a modification to an existing reservation, please attempt to do so before October 12, otherwise you will have to wait until after October 14. "

There is no mention of DCL. I believe this outage has something to do with enabling DVC members to book online with points.

I posted quite awhile ago the information on the Dream. This is what Captain Tom told me when I toured the Dream in Papenburg in June on the signature collection excursion with my daughter Jamie:

January 1st-Dream will test dock at Castaway Cay
January 2nd-Dream will test dock at Nassau
January 3rd-Dream will test dock at Castaway Cay
January 4th-Dream will arrive in Port Canaveral

That is why we are booked on the New Year's Eve cruise on the Disney Magic. The Disney Magic will be in Nassau on New Year's Eve, sea day on New Year's Day and Castaway Cay on January 2nd.

I asked Captain Tom to be sure that on New Year's Eve to get close enough to the Dream so we could do fireworks at sea together! :rotfl:

Then I asked him to make sure on our sea day we just circle Castaway Cay so I can get pictures of the Dream docked at Castaway Cay.

I am hoping my "Dream will come true"

When we had the opportunity to eat dinner in the Palo's Private Dining Room I did mention to Tom Staggs that they needed to put the whole sail out on line because we would all be watching. He just smiled, so I don't know if they have any plans or not. I'm sure we will be able to pick up on different webcams in different cities as the ship makes its way. I am sure they will film the whole thing for historical purposes and at some point we will be able to see it. Just hope it is "live" while it happens.

After sea trials in November, the Dream will return to Germany where it will stay until Captain Tom actually takes over the ship and if my memory serves me correctly, they leave Germany somewhere around December 17th I think. It might be as early as the 13th, but I didn't write it down when Captain Tom stated the date, so I am not 100% positive on that bit of information.

I would love to be in Papenburg when the Dream goes out the River Elms to the North Sea. They had pictures at the shipyard of previous cruiseliners going out and there are hundreds of people along the river watching, taking pictures, etc. It just looks like it would be absolutely incredible. We were told that the ship will actually go out AFT first, and be backing out the whole way. Can you imagine what a sight that will be?

I'm just crossing my fingers that we will get to see it play out live through the internet somehow.......

Yes -- they still use the envelope method. One change since you last cruised is that you can choose to charge your tips to your shipboard account instead of using cash. If you choose this method, a "chit" is delivered to your room the last night for you to put in the envelope (you can choose to augment if you rec'd super duper service). The tips are deposited into the employees account right after the cruise. Other than the recommended tips, you might want to have a dollar or two handy for a tip should you order room service.

Here is the BBQ announcement, I have listed the folks that we have previously heard from, for those who have not talked to us lately, please confirm that you are still planning to attend. The particular BBQ area will depend upon where our condo is when we check in, they are first come-first served, so that means we will go out and start setting up before the time of the party. I am hoping to miss the lunch crowd and get in before the dinner crowd - not that I have ever seen any crowds at those areas.
