Hey everyone just subscribing. Really down on the exercise this week, caught a bug and just didn't feel I could pull off any miles this week. Good this this was a pull back week so I didn't miss the long walk but still feel it is going to take a bit to build back up.

Have a great Sunday all.

Hi all,

Well saturday's race went okay. 5th overall, and 1st AG, but I was disappointed in my time of 1:43 even. It should have been a 1:40 but unanticipated hills, lots of turns, lack of rest, and attempting to run a pace that I could keep up for a full slowed it down. It seems like lots of people were slowed down though.

I'm going to go for an easy 8-10 miler this afternoon to get my head back on.

Best,
Jennifer

Thank God October is over, it was ugly, nasty and smelled. Yucky darn month, just glad to get out of it alive.

Connie I had 84 miles and Erica had 25 miles. She will start getting a few more hopefully this month and me to. It's been one of those fog of life times and hopefully it's going to clear soon.

I will be getting reaquainted with my stretching this month. I've been lazy when it comes to staying limber.

Dave/Jennifer - Congrats on your races!

Kim - pixiedust: Hope you're feeling better today!

Scott - Snow?! Eeek! Hope it warms up for your run later on today.

Well tree is processed and ready to load up and haul off tomorrow morning. I was a bit of a Key Stone Cops moment but I got through it. I bought an elec chain saw. Got it home discovered that it used oil for auto lubing the chain. Back to the store for oil. Started using, chain jumped off. Put chain on and it wouldn't cut. Got out directions and discovered that it matters which which way the chain in on. Flipped the chain around and it cut, then the chain jumped off again. After the chain jumped off a few more times, back to the directions. The chain tension matters. Adjusted tension and then got some work done.

After 4 hours 3 of us processed the tree. I'm tired and the the baby is major upset, we think teething. So it will be an interesting evening. Oh and we walked 4 good miles at the mall, pace high 13:50 per mile.

Scott, that's great about getting on the cruise.

Good morning team! I went out for a 3 miler this morning. It's nice to have some sunshine in the morning. I waaay overdressed this morning because it looked cold. I was too hot 5 minutes in.

I worked out at the gym last night and had a new physio observing my session. Kind of neat to have two trainers :) My PT looked at my back and we think it might have just been a sneeze that put it out of sorts. So I learned the correct way to sneeze - face forward and not twisting to the side or holding it in.

Will probably go out tonight for a quick walk - try to burn off some more Halloween candy.

Have a great day everyone! :wave2:

Looks like we might be on the road tomorrow, PT test Thursday Morn, feel a cold comming on,

Vicky, good news on getting out there,

Dave glad the tree is now toothpicks

Margie, I know it sounds crazy but raking piles of leaves in the fall is a very relaxing thing, great smell...

Thanks for the well wishes on the tree. Yes it's another stressor that bite the dust. Scott if we lived close I sure would have called brother Scott to come and help.

Pandas are going extinct, nothing they can do about it. But people who are not facing extinction make a concious decision everyday to shorten their own lives by making bad choices. By helping people see that there is a better way and they can make their own lives better, just by changing their lifestyles, maybe they will begin to care more about the other bad choices we are making concerning our world. The panda is a symbol of what we are doing wrong.

I wrote that today and wanted to keep that thought going. Hope it makes sense.

No gym this morning – my muscles are screaming at me! Wimpy Old Lady :sad1:

Scott- this was not a relaxing raking. I had to power rake-2 1/2 hours. I have 30 plus trees, and it was the day they pick them up. The leaves are coming off early this year and I had mega leaves. The neighbor and his little boy seen the trucks a couple of streets over, came over with his mower, and helped me by doing my front circle. Then SIL arrived and used the mower to pick up the leaves in the back yard. We made it-What a blessing! Shoulder muscles are sore and I have several blisters.

Morning everyone! Went out for a 30-ish minute tempo run! It was really chilly this morning - I think I have to make the change from a cap to a more wintery hat. My ears were really cold!

Margie - No wonder your muscles are sore - raking leaves from 30 trees in 2.5 hours! That's some serious exercise! I wouldn't say you were wimpy at all.

Sue/Kim - How's the Goofy training coming along? Just wondering if either one of you have done the Around the Bay race in Hamilton (30K). I'm thinking about this one but don't really like having to drive out to Hamilton twice (once for packet picket up and then for the race).

Good morning Team!

Finally, all the company is gone.....for now! Have stuff to do to get ready for the next wave. Looks like we will have 3 full houses for Thanksgiving! We have a travel trailer and the little house and they will probably have people in them!

Vicki - My granddaughter is still in a great deal of pain and NO ONE wants to do anything about it. Although the school has been kept up to date with everything going on and even spoke to her doctor themselves, they were about to prosecute my daughter for allowing DGD truancy! My DD had to pull DGD out of school to for home schooling despite the fact that the school was supposed to provide a tutor. It's truly a mess. Most of the consulting doctors have stepped out of the loop and now my DD is just frantically trying to find someone who will even see her! Your prayers would be most appreciative.

Hello everyone. I will try to post more regularly!!! Off to do our numbers!

Hi TEAM! :wave2:

Connie- so sorry to hear about the lack of medical support for your grand daughter's medical problems. Will be praying for a quick solution. Yup, extra people is the house is can be lots of fun and lots of work! :confused3

Scott- I had several 4' piles that completely lined the front of the property! And I have a HUGE decorative pear tree that is still all green and has not lost a leaf-the oak trees do not count as they can keep leaves until spring! We are not allowed to burn. WoW Margie, that is a forrest , but you could have made a really big pile of leaves to jump in...

Vicky- Hummm now you are modeling the moves. Way to go Girl! ::yes::

Sue-Where are you? :upsidedow

Good Morning Team!

Connie, Cont'd prayers for your DGD.

Margie, 30 trees. :faint:How big is your property? We live in an older neighborhood with many trees but not that many. After you rake, what happens to the leaves? We are required to dispose of them via large paper bags that the compositing truck picks up every other week. The bagging is harder then the raking.

Vicky, Definetely recommend. One of my favourite races. Well maybe not around 25k at the time but looking back it is. This race is always a sell out. Register early.
+ well organized, water stops, spectators, ability to wait inside Copps before the race with real washrooms with a short walk to the start, finish inside Copps with a great spot for spectators to wait, great step up from 1/2 to full distance.
- rolling hills through Burlington & a tough hill up the escarpement (sp?) around the 25k mark, trying to stay motivated after finishing Dinsey in Jan then training through the snowy, snowy, snowy winter.
Things you can't control. Race day weather. For March I lucked out with a beautiful day but it was cold & windy along the stretch by Lake Ont.

Another night. Another run. Now it's back to running in the dark after work. It seemed cold last night with a strong wind. Will be out again tonight.

Have a great day everyone..........Sue

Jack - I can't say the knee is doing well, yesterday I could barely walk, it is better today, I did some exercises last night and again at the gym this evening, my walking pace is about a 19 m/m.

Morning walks have been nice if dark and cold! Ithas been easier getting up early after being on the east coast then changing off of daylight savings the same day we got back.

Work has been going good, not too busy yet, but it will pick up here shortly. No one really knows what their duties will end up being, so we are all doing a little of everything.

Good morning everyone! I did 3 miles this morning. It felt colder than it was because of the wet weather. My shoes got soggy so I think it was raining a bit harder than I thought or maybe I just ran into a puddle.

Connie - I'm really sorry to hear about the lack of help - that's so frustrating. I'll keep your DGD in my prayers. I hope something will work out.

Lynn - pixiedust: for your knee!

Jack - Hope your BB gets fixed soon!

Sue - I don't know about this daylight savings. I'd much rather have the extra hour of daylight at the end of the workday. I think the morning sunshine is only going to last another two weeks or so. Thinking about training through February made me a little nervous. I'm not sure I can do it but there aren't that many 30K races. I figure if I can do this one, then I'll survive a marathon.

That's all for now! Have a great day everyone :)

Yes, I am still here! Just hard to get on to the computer when I am working 8 hours a day - don't know how most of you folks do it! Knee is taking much too long to heal, it is very frustrating! But I do get in a short walk each morning, and have been doing the weights at least every other day, if not every day. Still seems like there is no improvement in strength.

The weather for the weekend should be nice, so hopefully, we will both get some distance workouts in - Scott a long run, and me a longer (maybe 6 miles) walk.

Hi everyone! Really great running weather this morning. Like Sue, I also overdressed. Did 6 miles and almost got it in under an hour. I had some chest pain just as I was turning onto my street and had to slow down. Oh well, next time :) Got a couple of really great miles in - one of my splits was 9:22 m/m!

Good Morning Team!

Sue - I am again working for the Census - this time as an office clerk - the pay is not as good as field work, but it will probably last longer, and will be inside for the winter! I am going to put in for one of the supervisor positions that just opened, that will give me a bit more in pay, and maybe will last longer - right now, I will probably be working just until Christmas. I am hoping to make enough money to pay for Christmas this year.

Knee feels better today, but I did not stress it much yesterday, one short walk with the dogs, and lots of up and down stairs doing the laundry. Today I will need to do my weights, as I am trying to get them in at least every other day, I should be doing them every day.

Sounds like everyone is getting nice weather, yesterday was really nice here, but we did not go out as Scott was not feeling well, today is colder with wind - 20mph w/gusts to 30, making the wind chill 23 degrees!

Have a great day team!

Hi TEAM! :wave2:

pixiedust:pixiedust: Scott, Lynn & Jennifer- pixiedust:pixiedust:

Sue- we too had awesome beautiful walking weather again today – but I did get too hot! We must be on the same training schedule I did 6 miles yesterday & a 14-miler today. Ouch, a nice big blister on my big toe! My Garmin lost satellite reception on mile 11 and never came back on. Frustrating- I was on a normal route pretty much out in the open. Came home guzzled a Gatorade and a chocolate Myoplex – then I had time to shower, wash my hair, do my cold 10-minute soak before the guy to winterize the sprinkling system arrived.

It said on a Discovery Channel special on cold that when your body temp gets down to 89 degrees you go into a stupor. I need to go take my daughter's temp, that would explain a lot.

Erica and I got in a good hour and a half walk, a bit over 6 miles for a high 14s pace.

Hi everyone! Did my 3 miler this morning - nice and cool :) I went a bit slower since I had a tougher workout at the gym last night with heavier weights and deadlifting.

Kim - I know the feeling. You just want to get out there. Have you gone to see a doctor or Physio about your heel? They might be able to recommend some stretches or exercises for it. pixiedust: I hope it gets better soon.

Dave - you made me laugh! Now I'll have to take the temperature of everyone at work - that might explain a few things :)

Scott - Glad to hear you're feeling better :)

I'm expecting a busy day at work so I'll check in later. Have a great day everyone!

Good Morning Team!

Day off here today, so hopefully, we will both get out for longer walk/run. The knee doesn't feel too bad today - but then, I have done no more than short walks for the past 2 days. Yesterday, after work, we drove down to Denver for "Wicked", and did not get home until 1AM - glad we did not have to get up for work today! Wicked was great! Now to make up for no exercises yesterday!

Hi everyone! Another busy day here so just a quick drive by for me... Was suppose to do a 35 minute tempo run this morning. But I only managed 3 miles - what a stonker :( Not sure exactly what happened since everything felt fine. Maybe I have to start eating a little bit of something in the morning before I run. I use to do ok on an empty stomach for anything up to 6 miles.

Lynn - Glad to hear the knee is doing okay! Sounds like you had fun at Wicked :)

Jack - I must remember to track you down in January and ask you about that code of conduct policy. Sounds interesting ...

Margie - Thanks! That made me smile :) Hope you're able to shake that cold pixiedust:

Good morning team! Not much of import to report ... I skipped my run this morning. I was awake but my body just felt exhausted so I thought it would better to give myself a break. I'll still head to the gym tonight and maybe do a 1/2 hour on the treadmill after training (as long as we don't go heavy with the weights).

Jennifer - Looks like everyone is looking forward to a day off :) November is kind of a dull month here since we don't have any public holidays - unless you for the government or bank (and even then not really).

Sue - Let me know if the both of you sign up. I'm still waffling on it but will probably sign up in the end. The distance still seems daunting to me. I guess it's really just a half marathon with an extra 9K on the end :)

Connie - How's DGD doing? Have you been able to get any kind of help from the doctors?

That's all for me! Have a great day everyone :)

It's almost mid-November. Time is going by too quickly. Many things to get done over the next few weeks. A smidge of anxiety just hit me. I need to work on a big To Do List of all the things I need to accomplish before Marathon Weekend. While I love the training, we're not left with much "free" time over the coming weeks.

Never was one to be superstitious but today I got two paper cuts on the same hand, forgot my security pass at home and ended up being 30 minutes late for work, got my finger (opposite hand from the paper cut hand) caught on the door and the Starbucks barista mixed up my decaf with DF's coffee ... so I ended up being really wired (don't usually drink coffee) and he ended up feeling tired when he could have used the caffeine :laughing:

Well, at least it's Friday :goodvibes

Good Morning Team!

As Scott says, we got 3.5 inches of snow last night - I will try to get dogs out for at least a loop later today, need to do my weights - skipped them yesterday and I am feeling it in my knee now. Of course, I could us the weather as an excuse for the pain, but I never really saw a correlation between the weather and the pain.

Have a great day all - we are going to brave the weather and go out to meet some friends for breakfast!

Ok I have had a time of it with that virus. I ended up having to erase my hard drive and then puting it back to out of the box condition, which unfortunately was 3 years ago so the updates are endless. I have hopefully though got the virus critters on the run.

My training has sucked the last week, my left calf has been tight and it's throwing my whole stride off. I have been stretching and icing all week, hopefully it will be better by the Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving day.

Sorry all my news has been a bummer but this whole year has been a bad one. Next year has to be better, come on January and a fresh new year!!!

Shorts in November! :upsidedow Who'd have thunk it - well, continuing on in my quest to ensure the mild temps stick around. I placed an order for some cold weather running gear - a hoodie, tights, wind pants. Actually, I lost enough weight from last winter that I don't fit into some of my running stuff anymore. Good for me, bad for my pocket book. I did manage to get a 50% discount code for the Adidas store (Canadian) so it wasn't terrible. I've never worn their stuff before so we'll see how it goes.

Did my 7 miler today... it was so-so. Went slower because my knee was pinching a bit. I think it was from my IT band being tight. Perhaps it is time for another massage :) I ran the whole way without stopping but I suspect that was because I was going slowly. I figured I might as well take the time to pay attention to my form and make sure I wasn't slouched over etc. Training overall has been kind of meh this week - the gym workouts have been good but running has been slow. It's a little bit of a let down after I had a couple great weekends.

Dave - Sorry to hear about the computer viruses! They are a pain to get rid of. Do you have a virus checker program?

Lynn/Scott - Yikes! Snow :( Wouldn't it be nice if we could just bottle the stuff up and send it somewhere far, far away... Lynn, hope your knee is feeling better soon!

Margie - I wanted to register for the 5K but I think it's full. Next time I guess. Save me a hug for January :)

Have a great day everyone!

OMG it seems like forever since I've been here. I pop in on Facebook now and then and see the email updates but we have been busy at home. Some good - the princess, some bad -(another story). All seems to have settled down and that's good considering I will be leaving on Thanksgiving for WDW. Yes Mark and I are leaving early. A bit of an anniv present to ourselves. Next Monday will be 35 years and we spent our honeymoon in Fl. We were on International Drive in 1974 when it had 3 hotels. The dark ages........

Miranda will be working on Thanksgiving as will Hope and both will be too tired to come to dinner afterwards so Mark and I decided to treat ourselves to an early escape as the clan will swoop down to WDW the following Tuesday.

Not much to report this month but I will have a bit in the coming weeks with all the early morning jaunts in WDW. At least that's what we're planning.

I see that everyone is in high gear finishing up their training for the big events in January. Soon it will be taper mode!

I;ll be with you in spirit. But this year with all the issues, it's for the best that we had not planned our Marathon weekend.

Take care all,

Good Morning! Just up from down stairs 40 min. on elliptical 4.5 miles. weights, shower, coffee and :surfweb: let's see what the day brings.

Last night we had a Wind meeting. Yes Wind! We're hoping to put a wind turbine in town to assist in powering government buildings, the first would be ours :goodvibes we hope. Had a Monk from Portsmouth Abbey speak as well as an engineer, company rep and lawyer. Seems people are afraid of things like "how loud it is!" "my property value will go down" "I don't want to look at it!" Hey folks it's not a NUCLEAR PLANT! One guy compared it to looking at Foxwoods (Casino in Ct.) Me personally I'd love one in my yard. The Abbey has one in a very affluent area of Narragansett Bay, neighbors don't mind; they like it. We have the land for it plenty of acres. and we're on the ocean. The engineer from Denmark explained they are CLOSING nuclear plants in Europe because of wind turbines, they are tearing down dams and reverting rivers back to nature because of turbines. It's hard to get people to change. We should be embracing alternatives to Oil/Coal and other limited natural resources. :confused3 Ok sorry I'll get down from my soapbox. :rolleyes1

Hi everyone! I decided to switch things up this week and run in the evenings. DF isn't around until Friday (rest day) so I thought maybe the extra hour of sleep in the morning would help out. My order of winter running stuff came last night and wouldn't you know it, it's suppose to be about 10C (50F) tonight.

Jack - I remember hearing that wind farms can change weather patterns and that electricity from wind farms is more expensive. Other than that, haven't heard anything negative.

Vicky, Only once track season starts. Actually a large part of the problem stems from the fact that they have no recess and only thirty minutes of PE at 8 am 3 times a week.

Rainy morning here. Nothing exciting to report. Actually I'm a slacker this week. Went for a pedicure last night & going to a concert tonight so no running. Didn't even bring my clothes to workout at the gym during lunch.

Mary, Nice job.

Scott, Taking DD7 to her first Jimmy concert tonight. I'm assuming you're a fan from your signature.

Vicky, We are passing on ATB. Pretty sure we are going to do Ottawa instead.

Margie, Hope you are feeling better from all the raking.

Have a great day............Sue

In the meantime, for you morning chuckle; just when you thought you've heard it all, a woman called in this morning she is having a domestic please send an officer "who are you having a fight with?" "MY CAT! HE IS 24 YEARS OLD AND HAS JUST STARTED ACTING UP!"
Really you can't make this stuff up. :goodvibes

Yes it's hard to make up better stories than the things some people do. One Day a man walked in our Lenscrafters store and said I'm here to pick up my glasses. I looked everywhere and couldn't find any information that he had ordered any. Turned out he got his exam next door and the receptionist said that Lenscrafters can have glasses made for him in an hour. So he wandered the mall for an hour and then came in to get his glasses.

Today was rest from training miles but good pilaties and stretching routine.

Hope everyone has a magical day.

Hey everyone! It's a grey and rainy day here like Sue said. I was actually up at 6AM, ready to do my 3 miler (since Thursday evenings I'm at the gym). It was raining so I decided to get some extra shut eye. Will do my 3 miles at the gym after training. I plan on going easy because of the 10K Sunday.

Jack/Dave - Too funny! Thanks for the smile :) those stories remind me of the 911 call from a woman who said she was trapped in her car. Turns out all she needed to do was to unlock the door

Sue - The only thing about ATB is that you can't do packet pick up the day of the race. I thought about getting a hotel room but then maybe I should just make a weekend out of the race and go somewhere like Quebec City. Have you ever done a race there? Have fun at your concert!

Jennifer - I see ... I think I might go a little stir crazy too. How come no recess breaks? Waaaay back when I was in elementary school, we had two 15 minute recess breaks and a 1 hour lunch break. That must be hard on the teachers too, going the whole day without a breather. :(

MaryJ - WTG on your 5 miler!

Margie - WTG! That's one hard core training schedule! I guess with as many miles as the Goofy is, you have to keep up with training.

Kim - How's your heel doing today?

Scott/Lynn - :wave2:

Ok, that's all for now! Have a great day everyone!

Sue-Enjoy the Concert! :rockband: Your training schedule will never notice a 'Slacker Day.' :goodvibes And Thanks but nope, Artie is still complaining about all the extra activity. :thanks: Tylenol Arthritis does help a little.

:hippie:Well-if she told him you would have them ready in an hour. I see it as it was her fault for not getting you the prescription! :rolleyes1

Jack- Okay how was this :sad2: case of Domestic Disturbance handled? - What was the cat doing anyway? :lmao:

Today is still Dark and Dreary, but a warm 40 degrees. They say sunshine is coming later today. It sounds like all of us 'with the exception of Scott & Lynn' has had okay even nice weather for November to get our training.

6-miler and Pilate’s this morning- prep for the 16-miler tomorrow. I keep telling my self-‘Self it is just 3-miles longer than a Half and you like the Half distance!’ Captain Connie suggested taking a route 4-miles out 4-miles back; pit stop at home for quick potty & Gatorade; Oh, I have to wash my wash, as it seems I am allergic to my own sweat-the salt actually burns my face! :lmao: (and it will be way faster than the port-a-potty lines) back out for 4-miles out 4-miles backs. I am going to try it.

Sue- Did DD enjoy the concert? :goodvibes

Good Morning Team! I am here for my weekly post (I cannot seem to get on the computer more than once a week!)

:rolleyes1

Wind generators are very common here, with all the wind! We have looked into putting a small one in our back yard. Some folks do object to them, whenever a new "wind farm" is proposed, but, all in all, it sounds like a good alternative to me.

I'm happy to report that I did my 5 miles this morning with no trouble. It's cloudy and cold here, so I ran indoors on the track at the gym. Went with a walk 3 min/run 2 min. the entire time, which gave be about a 14.5 minute pace. After being so sick, I am thrilled with that! I felt good after the run too!

Hope everyone here has just as good a day as I have! :cloud9:

MaryJ - that is a great pace!

Good Morning, gym was full this morning will go down after it clears out.
:goodvibes

Oh the stories we could tell!

I have been getting out every morning for a quick walk with the dogs before work - then have been hitting the gym or our basement for weights at least 3 times a week - no long distances, right now, 3 miles seems long to me - we need to start some longer walks over the weekends. The weather actually has been really nice - sunny and highs in the upper 40's to 50's. Although it is cold in the mornings - 20 degrees, there is no wind, so it has not been bad walking.

Have a great week all! May get back next Thurs.

So Lynn is Scott using my plan of doing the Goofy on lots of 3 to 6 mile training distances? I haven't had any LSD either.

This is something I wrote for someone else on there facebook wall:

Our scar tissue is a road map of where our lives have taken us in the past. It's on our bodies and in our heart and memory. Each day we advance in spirit we heal some of the scars in our hearts and make peace with the scars in our memories.

I liked that and thought I'd share.

My workout today was a good 4 miler at the mall average pace 12:30 per mile.

Have a great weekend y'all.

My workout today consists of cleaning the house. My mother in law's birthday is Monday, She'll be 85 on our 35th wedding anniv. I married Mark on his mother's b-day so he would never forget our anniv. :rotfl:

She's coming tonight for dinner so the place has to be **** and span. I also have bee at my house on Monday so I made a double tiramasu for dessert. One for tonight (her request) one for the bee girls. Jacques Torres cookbook, enough calories and fat for about a week.

Windows open, its a beautiful day here in NH and I will put up our Christmas tree too. Just to make it festive.

Hello Everyone!!!

Wow! Computer is getting harder and harder to find.

DGD (11), is finally diagnosed. Her small intestine has migrated out of the sack that is supposed to contain it. This allows all kinds of yuckiness to get to places it shouldn't go, like gastric acids! Not good for the body! So, they are doing a series of photgraphic looks at her little body so that they know how to attack it when they do surgery...sometime next month. My DD had to pull her from school and home school her because she hasn't been able to attend since September and the school decided it would be cheaper to prosecute my DD for my DGD's truancy than to provide the tutor that the law requires!

We also have guests for the next two weeks. A friend from Arkansas had a full hysterectomy yesterday, so they will have to be here until she can safely travel home, sometime in December!

But, I am getting my training in! I sooooooooooooooo need a vacation!

I am keeping up, and I think of you all everyday!

See ya -- Connie

Connie, Continue PD for your DGD. Glad to hear the doctors have made a diagnoses.

Margie, Nice job on the training. Nothing beats a HOT shower after a long run.

Happy Monday everyone! The mild sunny weather continues - except I'm stuck in my office. Oh well.

Did my 10K race on yesterday in great weather. I was so happy I got to wear shorts and not tights and and a jacket like last year. The race was fairly small and there were a few starting at the same time - 5K, 10K and a 10 miler. The course was flat and went along the waterfront and through some residential neighbourhoods (I wonder how they felt about us taking over the streets with our cars and plyons). I had a bit of a panic attack when another runner seemed to think I was going along the 10 mile route. The course at that point seemed to only have markers for the 10 miler anyway so I wasn't sure. I asked another runner and he seemed to think I was fine. Sure enough, the turnaround was just a few minutes away. I saw him on the way back and he gave me a big smile and thumbs up! Had some chest cramps on the way back and had to walk for a minute or so. I finished in 58:07 which takes 2 minutes off my 10K from October! Hooray for another PB!

Sue - Haven't been to a Santa Claus parade at night before. Sounds like fun!

Scott - Glad you were able to run outside! Did the TM last week for the first time in almost a year and didn't care for it much.

Denise/Mark - Happy anniversary!!

Margie - WTG on your 16 miler!! You go girl :)

Connie - I'm glad the doctors have figured out what's going on with DGD! pixiedust: for her upcoming surgery! Keep us posted on her progress.

Dave - Your walks are so speedy! Somedays I can barely walk that fast! Say hi to Erica for me :wave2:

Hi everyone! Kind of a drizzly grey day today. Meet up with DF for lunch before he headed off for the day. Ate a pretty healthy lunch of Morroccan chicken soup, carrot sticks and a giant hunk of bread. I guess the bread wasn't too healthy but it was whole wheat so maybe that cancels out the giant part.

Worked out at the gym last night - did some glute activation exercises to get rid of the post race knee soreness. I'm planning to run 4 miles tonight and will probably take it easy.

Kim - pixiedust: for your heel! I'm planning on bringing the Tylenol too. Btw, aren't you loving this mild weather? Makes me think I should have registered for the full instead.

Margie - Thanks! Hooray for rest days :) You'll have to give me some of your tips for making it through LR for next year. I worry about those a little because I don't have anyone to run with.

Oh, my Marathon Weekend is coming fast – can you believe there are only 5 more days in November! ::yes::

Gray and Dreary here too…but still good for training. I did my 3.3 miles this morning and then off to the doctor.

Hummm it seems like my BP meds are slowing my heart WAY down but not lowering my BP. So the doctor is changing my meds gradually. I developed a floating spot on my right eye this week. So my doctor said get in for an eye exam yesterday. :confused3

Vicky-I really enjoy my Rest Days! I do not like the long mileage for the same reason-Captain Connie suggested breaking it down and it worked get for the 16-miler. So my next 18-miler will be 4 ˝ out 4 ˝ back Quick Stop at home-potty, GU, Gatorade, and back out for 4 ˝ out 4 ˝ back. Just make sure the stop at home is quicker waiting in a line along a marathon route for a port-a-potty. :goodvibes

Hi team!

Went out for a slow 4 miler last night - I was running on the road with my blinky light and still almost got mowed over by someone not paying attention. I guess the situation is somewhat ironic. The guy was driving while on his cell phone so while he wasn't paying attention to what was going on, he wasn't really going fast either.

Planning on going to the gym tonight to do some speed work on the TM. I'm not really fond on the TM but it's usually dark by the time I get home (or leave work ugh!) so the track is out.

Margie - Now that I think of it, most of the glute exercises are some variation of a squat. We do the gobblet squat with a 25 lb weight, cable pull throughs (I think it's 40-50 lbs) and Bulgarian squats just body weight. There are two other exercises (that aren't squats) but I don't know the names of them. I'll ask for you on Thursday.

Dave - That's a lot of mileage! WTG!

Ok, that's all for me! I'll check in later! Hope everyone has a fantastic Thanksgiving!

Training has not gone well - I get in a 1.27 mile walk in the morning with the dogs, and I did get in 6 miles last weekend, and we will be doing a 6.2 miler tomorrow, but that is as far as I have gone, and my pace is still in the 18 m/m range.

Happy Thanksgiving to all my friends in the US! Hope everyone is enjoying the day off and eating lots of yummy treats! As for me, another day in the salt mines but at least its Thursday. Did some speedwork on the TM last night. I tried running some of the intervals at 8:00 m/m or faster and it was tough. But hopefully it will make me faster and I think of the calories burned off :) Tried to go running this morning but it was raining so that was a bit of a bust! Will do a slow 3 miles tonight at the gym after training.

I forgot to mention that there was a seat sale on Air Canada and I managed to extend our trip by an extra day in January!! We only had to pay the change fee which worked out to $105 for DF and I. Lynn, Good news about your job promotion. Here are some more well wishes for your knee.

Almost done at work & heading home for at least 6 miles if the rain holds off.
Didn't want the tm last night so went to spin class instead.

Are there any "stick" users among us? Pros/ cons?

Have a great day..........Sue

Is that the rolly thing you use after a walk/run?

Love how I just know all the gargin'

If it is, we borrowed Dave and Erica's after last years marathon and Mike loved it so much we bought one when we got home. Also DS used it after his and also thought it was awesome!!

Also, I recall being able to purchase the Stick via Amazon for less than directly from Stick.

Good Morning Folks!

Just have a few minutes before having to go to work - yes, I volunteered to work today - they wanted a skeleton crew, and Scott said he was going in, so I said I would to (and I do not get paid if I don't work - no paid holidays on this job).

thanks for the congrats - yes, the promotion is good, it gets me more money, the responsibilities aren't overwelling, and the job should last until the end of the census (Oct. 2010 - unless we finish earlier). It is just hard for me to work 8-4:30 Monday - Fri., I do not think I have ever worked those hours before (working shift work all my life), I miss being able to go out shopping or running errands whenever I want.

I was encouraged by my pace in our virtual Turkey Trot yesterday - ended up being a 16:45 pace, which is faster than I have been training for a long time. Of course, it does help walking in daylight - most of my walks are now in darkness, and I am sure I walk slower because I cannot see where I am going.

Dave - :hug::hug::hug::grouphug::grouphug::grouphug:

Time to go - have a great day all!

Happy Friday everyone! Quiet day here so I thought I'd pop in for a quick post. I saw someone in my building dressed in running gear during my lunch break yesterday. I should have asked where he runs - although I'm not sure where I would freshen up after running at lunch. Rest day for me today - had a fantastic workout at the gym yesterday. My PT spent almost an extra 30 minutes with me working on deadlifts because his next client was running late. I got up to 135 lbs from the rack but couldn't manage to lift it from the ground. Ran for 3 miles after that on the dreadmill. Have a massage booked for Sunday so I'm really looking forward to that!

Dave - Hope you're feeling better today!

Lynn - Congrats on your 10K pace! I use to do shift work too and usually had Fridays off and worked 12-8pm. I loved it!! I've done 9-5pm for the past few years and still haven't gotten use to it.

Sue - I have the travel version of The Stick. I'd say the pros are - it's portable, always available and will help to losen up a lot of tight muscles. For me, the cons are - you have to use pressure when you roll which isn't always pleasant, some spots on your body are hard to reach using The Stick. I always find it hard to do my hamstrings so I usually just use a foam roller instead.

Have a great day everyone! :wave2:

Happy Friday Team!

Had a good 10k last night. Spin tonight with back to backs on the weekend.

It's almost the end of Nov. & no snow. News is reporting it's the first snowless Nov. in 70+ years. Fine by me.

Vicky, I'm interested in the stick for my hammies. Felt good in the store but over the long run will I use it. Not cheap to use it just once or twice.

Happy miles. Have a great weekend. Another busy one planned here.........Sue

Monday and Tuesday were horrible. I'm quite likely going to have to quit my job on Monday due to problems with my students and the lack of administrative support.

Not many workouts this week. Went black friday shopping this morning and did 30 minutes on an elliptical and 15 minutes of strength training.

Hi TEAM! :wave2:

No Black Friday Shopping-
Made it to the gym - bike/weights-then cross trained running after the little guys. :rotfl:

Sue & Vicky- I have the Stick. I like it but do not use it as often as I should. The regular sized one can be used in most areas.

Jennifer- :flower3: Is it discipline issues? Could you talk to another teacher in the system-pick their brains? I know it must be 'a Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Bad Day - but you might be more contented in the long 'run' if you find a solution to the problems rather than giving up. :upsidedow

Lynn- :cheer2: CONGRATULATIONS :cheer2: I was encouraged by my pace in our virtual Turkey Trot yesterday - ended up being a 16:45 pace, which is faster than I have been training for a long time. Of course, it does help walking in daylight - most of my walks are now in darkness, and I am sure I walk slower because I cannot see where I am going.

:hippie: Not to be concerned lots of :grouphug::hug: available for Friends! I think Doctors should prescribe them :goodvibes

Margie, Thanks! Sadly the advice I'm getting is that I simply need to toughen up and see it as a challenge. Sadly it is past that point. Part of the reason my running has slowed down a bit is the stress has me on the verge of relapsing into an eating disorder. While I would much prefer to stick it out, it's not worth my health. I'm asking them to move me classes, but if they won't I'm going to quit. The question is are they willing to try hard enough to keep me to attempt to fix it. I'm the youngest teacher at the school, with the oldest kids, and the job no one else, and no administration support.

Margie - That is a prescription I could go for! WTG on getting out to the gym!

Jennifer - Sorry to hear about the lack of support. I wish I could offer you some advice but I haven't been in school for a long time - Long enough that when kids misbehaved, they were sent to the principal's office for a spanking! Yep, that's how old I am... :scared1: Are you allowed to call the parents and talk to them about the discipline issues?

Sue - I'm hoping we can go for as long as possible without snow.

Got out and ran my 8 miles this morning. Getting chilly!! I experimented a little with 20/1 intervals - I'm trying to time my breaks with the water stops so I figure 20/1 or 15/1 will work. Tomorrow I'll do my 3 miles before my massage appointment. I'm really looking forward to that.

Hope everyone is having a great weekend! :wave2:

Hi everyone! Went out for my 3 miler this morning but it wasn't going too well - I just couldn't get myself up to speed and seemed to be stomping the pavement a lot. I cut the run short and turned back to go home. It seemed a shame since it was such a nice morning. Went and got my massage which was really heavenly! Back to the gym tomorrow and back to work (groan!)

The end of another month approaches...

Jack - Yikes! Saturday night - hope everything went okay. Btw, I like your advice for Jennifer!

Jennifer - Which marathon are you running in?

Have a great night everyone!

Hi TEAM! :wave2:

Cold rain in Michigan this has been a really dreary day. :upsidedow

Scott- Did you get all your lights up? Looks like everyone in my neighborhood (except me) has all their Christmas decorations up too! I have started. I have one tree up inside - three little ones outside, so I am not too far behind. :goodvibes

Vicky- I cut the run short and turned back to go home. It seemed a shame since it was such a nice morning. Me Too - I blamed it on adjustment to the new BP medication. So I was reluctant to push it. Still did not feel too good today. :confused3

Jennifer- :hug::grouphug::hug:

Oh My - END of November. Captain Connie I will PM my Miles & Time sometime tomorrow.

Got in 6 miles yesterday with DH. Ran on the indoor track at the gym as it was cold and rainy outside. Felt a little stiff afterwards. I'm sure it didn't help that we went to a movie (The Blind Side) immediately afterwards. Feeling pretty good this morning though. The best part is that after the 6 miles, DH said he was dying and except for sore quads, I felt pretty good! :thumbsup2

Yep we got all the outside lights up and some inside.

Hit the TM this morning and did not feel great, into work felt worse, cold chills etc, went home, just a local crud going around.

Hope all are doing well and had a great holiday. We did. Now to see if the pups will move enough for me to get to bed and sleep.

Good Afternoon Team!

Did back to back (10 & 20) on the weekend. Wasn't really looking forward to yesterday's 20 miler but I got through it.

The gym is having a special evening so tonight's classes are cancelled. Boo was looking forward to some stretching. Instead I am taking advantage of the night off. Taking DD to see Santa. Then the Holiday Train is making a stop later this evening in town. We have never seen the train. One more thing to put us in the Christmas spirit.

Jen, Hope things went well today at school & that you will be getting the support you need.

Margie, Hope you are feeling better soon.

December is almost upon us. I'm not sure what smilie to use. :yay: or

Have a great evening everyone..........Sue

Making it in in the nick of time.

Did 6 miles in 47.5 minutes.

And I didn't have to quit. I did have to take a sick day and get put on anti-anxiety pills, but I didn't have to quit.

Hi TEAM! :wave2:

Connie- I just PM'D my Time and Miles for November

Jennifer-:grouphug::hug: I do hope there were some other positive changes for you too!

Jack- :confused3 Where are you - did you have to work all weekend?

Sue- Hope you enjoyed a Rest Day with DD :goodvibes The meds do not have my BP under control as of yet. This morning it was 179/94 but the good part is my pulse has come up a little it was 66. When I did the Elliptical tonight at the gym I was amazed it made it so much easier to breathe.
