Cast of Characters:

http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll60/myjanboys/DSC00498.jpgA very squinty family portrait from our last trip in Jan 09

Elastigirl: me (30) Just turned 30 this past week and I still love WDW as much as I did when I was 13! SAHM to my two boys. Lover of reading, TV, scrapbooking, Disney, Texas sports, Disney, and my boys!

Mr. Incredible: DH (31) Will be turning 32 on this trip. Restaurant manager that works too, too many hours. His first trip to Disney was in Jan 09 and I thank God that he liked it! I'm a blessed woman to have a hubby that likes WDW too!!!

Dash: DS1 (6) This is his celebration trip too!! He'll turn 7 the day after we get back. He loves WDW. This will be his 3rd trip to the World and he's planning on going to Disneyland again this summer with relatives. A very smart and sweet boy!! Loves pirates!! Dressed as Cap'n Jack tonight for Halloween.

Jack-Jack: DS2 (21 mths) Another celebrator!! Will be 2 the day after we get home. (yes they have the same birthday, exactly five years apart :lovestruc) He went last year for the first time and was a very good sport but wasn't really into a whole lot. This year will be a whole 'nother ballgame. Aside from the terrible two's and the level of independence he's demanding, he's bound to notice a lot more around him. While this is exciting because he'll get to experience more of the magic, it's always going to be a challenge when he wants O U T out of his stroller!! I'm both dreading and looking forward to the challenges of taking a 2 yr old to WDW!

More recent picture of the boys

Welcome everyone. It's time to get things rolling. We are leaving in a little over two months. Amazing how time flies when you don't plan trips 12 months in advance! This will be my second TR. Sadly, :rolleyes1 I never finished my first one. I got all the way to the last day and just never went back and finished. For those of you that were reading and posting along I'm truly sorry. I know what I did wrong, and why it was so hard to finish it and I won't be making that mistake again. So please give me another chance!! :guilty:

My mistake was trying to draw out the trip report to make it last. What I ended up accomplishing instead was losing momentum!

So enough about my previous TR bad behavior and onto how this trip came about....

It's not like I didn't want to go back. I always want to go back. I want to go back as soon as we get on the ME to the airport. But I swore I wouldn't take Dash out of school again. It's not a problem for our district, and I'm very hands on so I make sure he gets plenty of practice reading, with math, etc while we're away. It was the fact that he had 2 absences the entire first semester and 15 the second!!!!! :scared1: He ended up with a nasty virus right around Easter that turned into Pneumonia! And this was right before the news of the H1N1 virus hit. We all had stomach issues at the same time. A nasty little stomach bug and then Dash had the stomach issues plus the Upper Respiratory Infection that turned into Pneumonia. Don't think I didn't wonder if we had the H1N1 flu before people even knew what it was.... cus I wondered a lot. I mean we live in Texas and ground zero was Mexico. Not a huge stretch.

But I digress....

I do that.

Anyway, so Dash ended up missing way more school that I had ever intended. So I said never again. We'd go at Spring Break instead. Well..... never say never.

We originally were planning on going at Spring Break. Scratch that. We ORIGINALLY were planning on a couples trip in September for our anniversary, with free dining. That got cancelled. Which killed me. Cus we had a PIN. An elusive pin. Never mind that free dining was going to be offered to the general public later on, we had a PIN!! And I wanted to use it!! :rotfl:

THEN we were planning a trip with my entire extended family for Spring Break. That fell through when my brother was laid off unexpectedly.

So I still wanted to go back. I mean I'd gotten the planning bug pretty bad thinking of our extended family trip. So when the 4/3 deal came out again, I mentioned it to my mom (who went with us on our last trip) and she volunteered two airfare tickets from her Rapid Rewards account. Score!!!! her!! So with the 4/3 deal, and the airline tickets, how could we not go back!!!!????

I started looking at dates. December is always a no no because of holiday parties for Mr. Incredible at work. Busy time of year for the restaurant business. There was a great weekend in February, because Dash would have a 4 day weekend. It just happened to be Valentine's weekend. Another big no no for a restaurant manager. So I started looking at January again... We went the 22-28th last year and it was more crowded than I thought it would be. Most CM's said it was because of the 4/3 deal. So I figured, if it's gonna be crowded anyway, might as well go on MLK weekend and take advantage of the 3 day weekend. AND by going before the 20th, we'd squeak our Jack-Jack into a lap baby ticket and avoid paying for his ticket. So all we had to do was buy Dash airfare and we were golden!!

The original plan was to only take Dash out of school for 4 days this year instead of 5 as we were going around a 3 day weekend. But alas, Southwest airlines had changed their direct flight's time from leaving at 1:30pm to 10:20am. This meant I couldn't send Dash to school in the morning to stay long enough to be counted for attendance before pulling him out to make our flight. He has to be there until 9:30am in the morning to be counted as present for the day. 50 mins is cutting it way to close to get to the airport and get on a plane. We debated....a lot... about taking a later flight... a flight that wouldn't be non-stop, that would be 6 hrs travel time instead of 2 1/2. A flight that would mean getting there too late to go into a park on the first day, essentially making our trip a 6 day trip, instead of 7.

Ultimately, I decided that the difference in 4 days in abstentia vs. 5 days was negligible. I mean if we're commited to taking him out 4 already, it's really splitting hairs to care about one extra day. I've already talked to the principal about this and she's all for it. We know the importance of reading on a daily basis, as 1st grade is a huge reading year. And we feel that Disney will provide tons of reading opportunities along the way. Plus we'll be bringing along all his make up work and readers.

So the dates we are going are Jan 12th - Jan 19th.

The boy's turn 7 and 2 respectively on the 20th. So when I say we're squeaking Jack-Jack under the lap baby radar, I mean we are SQUEAKING him under. I'll have to provide a birth certificate to prove he's not 2 as he's a pretty big boy!

So now you know the who, the why and the when ....

Stay tuned for the where!!

I know you're all dying to know the where!!! :rotfl2:

But first a little more about the who!

For anyone that read my last TR, you know we had a few people joining in on our last trip. My mom, and Mr. Incredible's mom, sister and brother in law! It was a big group. And I had my fair share of stresses from planning for everyone. Thankfully most of it worked out!
This year my mom can't make it. She wants to go, I think she'll always want to go, but she's having problems with heel spurs and doesn't want to try a trip in a wheel chair yet. She's holding out hope that her heel spurs will get better!

My mother-in-law, however, will be joining. She lives very close to WDW and this is a great way for her to see her grandkids. I will say that she and I... um.... operate a little differently in the mornings... :lmao: I can get out the door in 30 mins. She needs 3 hours! Needless to say, we didn't necessarily get off as early as we (ok ok *I*) wanted to most mornings. Which meant no early ADRs for breakfast, no rope drops, missing out on FPs for Soarin' and Toy Story Mania!!! :scared1:

When DH and I were discussing going back, we knew it would be hard to not invite her. So I came up with a brilliant idea if I do say so myself!! :rolleyes1

We invited her down for just the weekend. This way we'll have four days in the park as a family of 4. Something I'm looking forward to for many reasons!! We can get up early, and see how it'll be with just our little family. On the flip side, I'm a little nervous about this, too. We never had to do baby swap last year with both grandmothers there. Mr. Incredible and I got to ride a lot of the thrill rides just the two of us, and that was fun!! One of my favorite memories from our trip was TOT at Sunset just the two of us!

But getting to do it our way for four days will be great!! :woohoo:

Not that my MIL isn't an easy going, go with the flow kinda lady most of the time! She just got tired after so many days in the park and from having to get up every morning 3 hours before any of us did.

So we get to try it on our own for 4 days and she gets to not be so pooped at the end of the trip!! WIN WIN situation!! :yay:

She'll be joining this year on Saturday and staying for three nights. She's going to provide us a babysitting pass for one date night, just Mr. Incredible and I. :lovestruc

There is a possibility that Mr. Incredible's sister and brother in law may be joining us for the weekend as well. However, they are both swamped with work and other details and haven't made a decision yet. While this is a bit challenging for planning, I learned after last year that I can't control their actions, and I have to make my plans regardless and hope they can join us for certain ADRs and if we can't fit them in, then I'm sorry!! BUT I'm still gonna eat! :lmao:

So for those of you that are counting... :teacher: it'll be four of us for the first four days, with MIL joining on the fifth day and potentially SIL and BIL as well.

So now you know more of the who....

I promise next up the WHERE!!!

Thanks!!! I thought it was a good idea, too!! Best of both worlds. I was pleased and relieved that I came up with a solution to my MIL being so close to WDW. Don't get me wrong, I love her and I love watching her with the kids, but the thought of my MIL joining in on EVERY SINGLE family vacation to my happy place, :scared1: !! :lmao: So this was a good compromise for all of us! :thumbsup2

So on to the where.....

I know y'all are all dying to know.

:lmao:

When we first started planning this trip, I looked at a lot of options. As I always do. As if the Poly is magically going to cost what a value does if we stand on one leg while checking in on the fifth Thursday of the month.

But alas, the prices were still way out of our budget. Even with the 4/3 v. 5/2deal difference. I started looking at Pop Century, the resort I stayed at the last two trips I've taken. $1200 for the 3 of us as Jack-Jack is still 'free', which included 7 nights and 7 day base tickets. I seriously did consider booking Caribbean Beach. For our family, it would have meant an additional 200$ for the entire 7 nights. REALLY tempting. I mean when would we ever get to upgrade from Value to Moderate for that small of a difference.

And we probably would have upgraded. Except for MIL. Not that she wouldn't like to stay at CBR. I'm sure she'd love it. But for her room, for only 3 nights, without a room only discount (yet...?) it would be 300$ more to upgrade to CBR for just her 3 nights! :scared1: So in fairness to her, how could I ask her to double her hotel budget to upgrade to a moderate? So I booked the MYW package for us and a room only for her for Pop Century.

We paid the deposits and were all set.

Til I had a dream one night.

Literally...... I woke up one morning and remembered my dream and thought I've got to call MIL and see if this will work!!

You see, Jack-Jack is FREE! Meaning he's under 3 and doesn't count toward the room maximum. Which means...... we could have say THREE adults, one child and one infant in ONE room at CBR!!:cool1::cool1::banana:

Hot dog!! I figured out a way to upgrade!!!!

So I texted Mr. Incredible first. Had to make sure that he was ok with his mother bunking down with us for 3 nights. I mean same shower, same room, etc. That's a lot to consider. Again, love my MIL but ittttty bitty living space.

Mr. I said it didn't matter to him either way, but he'd doubt that MIL would go for it. She's a pretty independent lady with definite ingrained habits that he felt would mean she'd insist on her own room. And in all fairness, she had previously told me she would never bunk down with her daughter and son-in-law. That she would never do that to her son-in-law. :rotfl: So I knew it was a long shot, but figured what the hey... ask anyway!

I called her and she said SURE!! If y'all don't mind, sounds fine with me! :scared1: I was floored! But super excited. I mean I know this could make for an interesting 3 nights, but really it's just 3 nights, one of which will be a late date night for Mr. I and I and we'll be in the parks the majority of the time. And us four all sleep like the dead. So she'll be able to get up earlier than us and start getting ready and we'll most likely never hear her. Besides, I don't sleep that late when at Disney. I wrote up TR notes to the light of a muted Stacey many an early morning last trip.

I asked her if she would have a preference between CBR, CSR, or POFQ, explaining the theming differences and location etc. She said she'd like the island theme best, and since that was the one mod I was leaning towards, we were golden.

Until I looked up the rate again and no standard rooms were left....:sad2: The whole point of upgrading to Mod was to use the money MIL was going to be paying for her own room, and put it toward the upgrade. Remember it was a 200$ upgrade and her room at Pop would have been 300$. So she was actually going to be saving 100$.

The cheapest view was standard pirate or water view. 400$ difference from Pop.

Well, I got to thinking.... let me tell you, my husband generally cringes when he hears those words. :rotfl2:

If we were willing to upgrade to Mod and it cost us 200 more, just exactly how much more would it be to upgrade to hmmmm let's say AKL?!?!?!?!? :yay:

I checked. And there were standard rooms available at AKL and with the 4/3 upgrade and MIL's 200$ contribution (cus I had already told her I'd save her 100$ and I wasn't gonna go back on that) upgrading to AKL was an extra 400$ for us. :cloud9:

I have priced a many a trip to WDW in my 30 years and correct me if I'm wrong here, but I've never seen an upgrade from Value to Deluxe for 7 nights that would only cost 400$ more. So I txted Mr. I immediately.... and got the response.... "$400 is a big jump baby."

To which I txted back "But just think... we could walk down to Jiko for our date night, and not feel bad about staying late since we know they are just down the hall, and we can go to the lounge at night and have a cocktail, and we can try Boma for breakfast and we could have Zebra domes EVERYDAY"

To which I got the following reply "You should be in marketing."

 :lmao:

See we had been to AKL last January for a date night to Jiko and we both  AKL. Which honestly surprised me. I'm not one to like zoo's, AK is my least favorite park, you'd never catch me wearing animal print, mostly because the stripes NEVER go the right way.

But we loved that resort. The dark wood, the squishy giraffe print carpets, Jiko, the bridges, the gift shop, the sitting areas, the rocking chairs, the firepits, the winding water stream from Jiko to Mara..... Loved it!! We had actually booked it for our couples only trip that we had to cancel. So getting to stay at AKL was a dream for both of us.

I had thought, since I was 13 and first toured Deluxe resorts for fun, that my dream stay would be WL. Just goes to show you never know until you try something new! I would have never in a million years thought I'd pick AKL over WL! Who knew!

And I knew when I got that last text that I had convinced him that it was worth 400$. Santa :santa: may have to shop at the Dollar Store. We may have to eat a lot of beans and rice between now and January, but it's gonna be worth every single gas pain. :woohoo:

I called MIL to make sure she wouldn't mind a safari themed hotel, and explained why CBR had ended up being more costly to upgrade to than I had said it would be and we were able to swing the upgrade since it was a once in a lifetime upgrade to a deluxe resort. I don't know that she fully understands what the difference in value and deluxemeans.... she's never been to AKL. She visited 'Ohana with us so she saw the difference in Pop and Poly... so maybe she's a little bit excited too. But she was :cool2: with it.

I called Disney and asked the one question I was scared would bring all these thoughts of mine to a screeching halt. Can you have a guest for 3 nights without them being on the same package? And if so, how much for an extra adult? His first answer was ... yes you, can declare a guest for a partial stay and they do not have to be on the same package. But AKL would not allow 5 people in a room.

Wait!! I said. One of those people will be under 3. Oh! He says, then sure no problem!

:worship:

I feel sorry for people that call and are clueless. Cus he totally didn't pick up on what I said said originally about knowing the child under 3 didn't count. Don't get me wrong, I don't think he was trying to pull one over on me. Just didn't catch all the details. Thankfully I already knew that if we were ever going to have MIL stay in the same room as us, without upgrading to a 'deluxe room' at a Deluxe hotel, it would have to be this trip before Jack-Jack turns 3!

That minor scare out of the way, and with the knowledge that it would be an extra 25$ a night for the three nights MIL would be there due upon her cking in, the CM was able to make the upgrade, with the 4/3 code, cancel MIL's room only ressie and we got to keep the same confirmation #. Let me tell y'all, I was walking on air the rest of the day!!!! :dance3:

Total package with MYW base tickets, for our party of 4 = $1815

Minus the deposit, minus MIL's 200$, we owe $1415 by Nov 28th. We would have owed $996 for the Pop stay.

So the Where is...... Animal Kingdom Lodge!

The When is .... Jan 12-19th, 2010

The Why is.... because we love it and my 3 boys birthdays are within 3 days of each other in January.

The Who is.... definitely Mr. I, myself, Dash and Jack-Jack for 7 nights, MIL for 3 nights, and potentially BIL and SIL at some point.

Transportation to the World... SW Airlines non-stop flights out of Austin

So now that you know all of that information....

Stay tuned for the What in the World are we gonna EAT!!!! popcorn::

Smart move on the MIL just coming for the weekened. Doing the baby swap isn't bad at all - I've met lots of nice strangers on various rides using the baby swap. ;) Plus, you can now get 2 fast passes, one with your ticket, one with your DH's - and use the baby swap for the other person. Awww!! Thanks LL! Love that 4/3 deal! We took advantage of it last year, at the value resort. The fact that they switched it to a 5/2 at Value this year, made the upgrade more doable. If we got 3 nights free at Pop too, I doubt I could have justified the extra expense of AKL! Splitting hairs maybe, but it made a difference in my mind!

For Brook and Sare and whomever else was reading my TR that I failed to finish...

A foolish TR finally finished ( like my title twinnie??)

Here is a link to the TR from Jan 09 Hop, Skip and a Week!! A TR full of Mayhem, Masticating and Mortification! (http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2076554)if anyone else would like to read it before reading what this post is going to be.... the FINAL installment. I know I could ask a mod to reopen the TR but really, for one post? I figured I'd just highjack my own PRT. IF that's possible.

Without further ado....

We actually managed to get up fairly early the last day. It was our second day in Epcot and I wasn't about to miss Soarin'. I mean, I'd already missed Wishes, FOUR times. I wasn't gonna miss Soarin'. So I took a proactive approach and asked Mr. I to bring breakfast back to the room. Breakfast for all of us, including MIL (she was referred to as Mary Poppins in the TR). So Mr. Incredible got up a little early and got ready a little faster and went and got us all something light for breakfast, as we had a reservation for lunch. So we made it to Epcot by 10am ish. Stopped to take a few pics.

Mr. I and I in front of the ball!

Then we parked the moms and the boys and Mr. I and I went to the Land to get the Soarin' FPs. When we got back, we found Dash with TWO more pins. Some nice gentleman had seen that he was wearing one sole pin on his t-shirt and gave him two more. pixiedust: Love the Magic!!!

After scoring 5 FPs, we made our way out of FW and decided to head to our ADR via the Mexico side because we had already covered the other half of the WS on Friday. The WS was fairly empty and we weren't in a huge hurry. It was around 11 by this time and our reservation wasn't til 12 at Tutto Italia. MIL and Mr. I are HUGE Italian food fans. So this was a big reservation for us. I was nervous we wouldn't like the changes but to be honest, I wasn't a huge fan when it was the original Alfredo's either.

We took the "short-cut" bridge back behind the Odyssey ? pavilion and then made our way around. We didn't go into any countries... :confused3 just didn't. I think we thought we'd head back after lunch and just wanted to soak it all in.

We took more pictures...

Love this one! Mr. I was watching Jack-Jack while I went photog-ing!

My mom! Looking fabulous for 66! This is a traditional photo op spot for us, we have lots of pics from this fountain over the years!

Finally I checked us in around 11:45 and they sat us pretty quickly.

Our server was Marco and he was awesome!! Loved him! So funny. He really spent time with Jack-Jack - was too cute. All the servers kept walking by and touching Jack-Jack's hair and saying bellisimo! Too sweet.

Jack-Jack with Marco.

Marco showing us his tongue... for some reason. lol

Lunch was yummy! I didn't enjoy my entree as much, I had wanted the Bucatini Gratinati but it was no longer on the menu. I ordered what I thought was the dish that sounded the most simlar. But it was a farfalle and it wasn't baked and ooey gooey. But everything else was phenomenal! The calamari was the best we've ever had and we have had it a lot of places. They had a white bean brushetta dish for an appetizer that was wonderful. My mom's eggplant appetizer she ordered as an entree was great! Mr. I's pasta primavera was soooooooooooo good. The pasta tasted homemade whereas my farfalle was dry and overcooked. So who knows. But he was sweet enough to trade me at the end of eating, so I got the last few bites of his. :lovestruc

Jack-Jack ate until he was stuffed!

http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll60/myjanboys/DSC00892.jpg
Mr. I couldn't shoove it in fast enough to suit Jack-Jack!

http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll60/myjanboys/DSC00894.jpg
Well on his way to miserable. We cut him off at this point!

There were a lot of birthdays that day so we knew what was coming. Which was good, cus those cute Italian boys are LOUD! They sang to both boys and brought birthday desserts. They were yummy too!!

Continued from previous post!

We left Italy and took some more pics as we slowly headed back around toward Canada.
http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll60/myjanboys/DSC00903.jpg
Another traditional photo op spot. I have a picture of myself, at 6, in the same pose. Gonna frame the pic of me and of Dash together, at some point!

http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll60/myjanboys/DSC00913.jpg
My second favorite artsy fartsy pic. It, too, will be an 8x10 in the office. I hope to take more pics to add to the office wall of places we've been!

We eventually made our way to the Land in time for our FP window. Soarin' was as wonderful as I remembered. One of my faves for sure. I was anxious to see what Mr. I thought of it. However, because of the grouping of 5 and Jack-Jack not being tall enough, Mr. I rode with his Mom and I rode with my mom and Dash. We all chilled on a bench by the bathrooms, while we waited on the other group to ride. At one point, Jack-Jack was fussy so I took him into the family bathroom and nursed him asleep. By sitting criss cross apple sauce on the bathroom floor!!! :lmao:

I know I know... but really what choice did I have?? I'm not saying there's anything wrong with public nursing. Lord knows I nursed him on the HM ride, in the middle of CoP. But it was dark and I was in a corner off to myself. Not in front of hundreds of people waiting to ride Soarin'. Just not something I'm comfortable with, whipping it out in front of people. So I did what I had to, and yes I was a little skeeved!! In all fairness, it had just been cleaned... and I sat on the changing pad.... like that even began to cover the surface area of my tush but it made me feel better!! And it was worth it. A very fussy Jack-Jack fell asleep. And then the real problem presented itself. How the heck was I gonna get up off the floor with a sleeping, deadweight 25 lb baby, a bum knee and a bad foot. :lmao: Real smart, gellybean! It hurt. Boy did it hurt. But I managed with a little help from the sink. I just knew I was gonna pull the sink off the wall!!! :rotfl2: Thankfully that did not happen but man would it have fit in with the rest of the mortification on this trip!

I laid a sleeping Jack-Jack into his stroller and he stayed asleep. He was so tired by this point. We were all reunited shortly after and I'm happy to report that Mr. I really enjoyed Soarin' as well!!!

After Soarin', we headed to Mousegears and did some shopping. I found a cute cute hoody that I had been looking for in my size and an antenae ball. About this time, Mom decided she wanted to head over to MK. We had a 7 day pass, and had only used 6 days and were leaving the next day too early to go into a park. So I had called some CM somewhere in the Disney ether and asked if you could do two parks in one day if you were willing to use two days off your pass. She said sure. So Mom wanted to catch Wishes. And she wanted to prove she could do it all by herself. She has a friend that keeps bugging her to do a trip and she's never been to Disney without me or my sister. So she was wanted to try it out, knowing I was just a phone call away. I was all for it.

She headed out and Mr. I and I were going to ride Test Track and Mission Space. We had barely covered Future World on our first Epcot day and Mr. I really enjoyed the theory of those two rides so we were going to do those. Until we picked up on what MIL was emoting.

Up til this point, she'd been all for sitting on a bench, watching the boys for us. But she was exhausted and cranky and wanted to go back to the room. Well that was fine. Except she wouldn't go back without us. She was scared she'd get lost. Both boys were passed out in their strollers at this point.

http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll60/myjanboys/DSC00933.jpg
Dash was out!

http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll60/myjanboys/DSC00934.jpg
As was Jack-Jack.

If you'll remember, this was the same woman that refused, the day BEFORE, to push a sleeping Jack-Jack in his stroller from CoP to Cosmic Ray's because she wanted to let him sleep. Well, today her story was different. She was all for waking BOTH boys up so she could go back to the hotel. :scared1: Not exactly consistent with her tune the day before. To say I was a little miffed at this point, well that would be putting it delicately.

But...

What choice did we have? Force her to sit on a bench watching two strollers, containing two snoring boys while we went and had fun?

*sighs*

So we pushed the stroller as far as we could toward the entrance, got Dash out. Pushed Jack-Jack to the bus and woke him up to get on the bus. It was about 4pm at this point. On our last day. :headache:

Yeah, I was a little frustrated. But it was the last day. We'd been together 7 days. She had no idea what a 7 day trip would be like. She'd only done a 3 day trip before. So I bit my lip and went with it.

We got back to Pop and Dash wanted to swim. So Mr. I rested with Jack-Jack briefly, before joining us within 10 mins. Jack-Jack was awake now and wasn't about to sleep. So we played in the kid's swim area for about half an hour before it was getting too chilly.

http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll60/myjanboys/DSC00935.jpg
Dash loved the kiddie area at Pop!

http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll60/myjanboys/DSC00941.jpg
Jack-Jack didn't quite know what to make of it.

Well, we had contemplated going into MK ourselves and using that extra park day to see Wishes. Until I get a call from my mom. The information we had was wrong. You can't use two days on your park pass at once. Which makes sense, really. I mean it's cheaper to buy 3 extra days than a park hopper and if they let you just use extra days, everyone would do that instead of shelling out $50 a person for hoppers. Thankfully, Mom was her sweet little old lady, southern charming self and told the CM what we had been told and that she just wanted to see Wishes but understood and would never want to break protocal and they let her in!! THAT'S why I love Disney so much! So my mom, walked up to the train station, parked herself on the bench and just people watched until Wishes started. She said the crowds were considerably less that night since there was no EMH and no Spectro. Something we're going to take into consideration next trip!

So now that I knew we couldn't get into MK-something I'm glad I knew before loading all of us up and catching a bus to MK-we had to decide what to do. MIL was heading to bed for the night. And it was like 6:30. She was EXHAUSTED. Something else I'm taking into consideration next trip... less days for MIL. She gave us the keys to her Mimi mobile as I called it all week and we decided to head over to DTD one last time.

This night was one of my favorite nights. Which, frankly, surprised me. But it was one of my most warm and fuzzy moments of the trip. It was just the four of us and it was great! Gave me hope that we can do a trip without extra help. We shopped some, but not much. DTD was still really crowded as the parks were closing early for Winter hours. We ate at WPE again.

http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll60/myjanboys/DSC00959.jpg
Eating... again! How he found room after lunch, I have no idea!! Remember me saying to watch his cheeks as the week progressed!! It was nice to see though, after he had lost 10 % of his body weightwith the scarlet fever!

Next we got sundaes at Ghiradelli and just soaked it all in. Walked around some and then headed back to the hotel about 9pm. I let the boys go on to the room and I bought all the souvies I had been looking at all week, from Everything Pop. There wasn't anything at WoD that I wanted that I couldn't get at the Pop gift shop.
When I got back to the room, Mom had just gotten back from Wishes and had thoroughly enjoyed herself! She was on :cloud9: herself and MIL was feeling much better having rested and gone to Everything Pop to get herself something to eat. We started packing up and getting ready to leave the next day.

http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll60/myjanboys/DSC00967.jpg
Mr. I packing up.

http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll60/myjanboys/DSC00969.jpg
Jack-Jack playing with his new toys, glad to be out of the stroller!

We woke up around 9am our last morning, finished packing and triple checked the room that we hadn't left anything. Said bye to our rooms on the first floor of the 60s building and took our luggage to bell services. I took a few last pictures of the Pop lobby and then we ate breakfast.

http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll60/myjanboys/DSC00971.jpg
One last Pop Waffle!!I think Mr. I was done with pics by this point :rotfl:

Eventually it was time to load up on the ME. We hugged and kissed MIL and said our goodbyes and loaded up. When we arrived at MCO we found out that our flight was delayed. So we camped out at the foodcourt, ate McD's, and did some of Dash's homework. Took some pictures.

http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll60/myjanboys/DSC00972.jpg
Dash loves fountains! So he asked for this picture.

One last Disney photo op

http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll60/myjanboys/DSC00981.jpg
Harley Davidson store! Dash was in awe! He calls one of his grandfather's PaPaw Harley because he used to own a motorcycle and be a Hell's Angel! Which is always been too funny to me cus he's the sweetest man!

http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll60/myjanboys/DSC00983.jpg
Mom wanted on it next. Said she's hadn't been on one since she was in her 20s. Her face cracks me up in this picture!

http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll60/myjanboys/DSC00988.jpg
Full circle from the first pic of this TR. Boys eating in an airport foodcourt!

We nearly missed that the flight had arrived sooner than they thought. Thankfully we thought to ck the Arrival and Departure boards again and managed to make it by family boarding time and were all together on the flight home. Retrieved our luggage, found Mom's van and headed home. Mom stayed long enough to look at the pictures on the laptop after I downloaded them and then she drove the hour and half to her house.

IT was a great trip. Looking back 10 months later, it was a really great trip. We definitely had our (ok my) frustrations but it was a wonderful, memory making, hubby brainwashing trip. It felt like Jack-Jack was so big but looking back now he was so little. I don't care that he won't remember it. We will.

Can't wait to go back again, and again. And watch the boys grow up with the Mouse! And maybe take that couples trip just us. I just don't think I'll ever tire of it. It's so much more than a place, it's a state of mind. It's a promise of better times.

Thanks for putting up with me highjacking my own PTR!! I promise Dining plans for our 2010 trip, next update!!

Two stories you need to know before getting to the good part............ THE FOOD! :goodvibes

Story #1: I turned 30 on October 23rd and was hosting a baby shower for my BFF on the 24th, in San Antonio (about an hour and half away). So the plan was to go out with BFF the night before, seeing as how she was an automatic desiginated driver, have a few cocktails to mourn the loss of my 20s, then throw the shower on Saturday, stay to watch the UT football game after the shower, cus I bleed burnt orange nearly as much as I bleed Mickey Mouse colors, and drive back late Saturday night. To wake up at 5:30am CDST to make ADRs. :scared1:
Well, when I returned home around midnight Saturday evening/Sunday morning I was tired and wasn't really feeling the whole wake up call thing for the next day. I got online to see if I could make ADRs since it was technically now the 25th and voila... it let me! I don't know if this is the norm of maybe some glitch because it was two days before the ADR system went back to 180 out instead of 90 but for whatever reason I got all my ADRs made, only having to change one up, and was able to sleep in the next day! :yay:

Story #2: Mr. I and I have been watching our weight now for about a year. And by watching it I mean watching it stay the same! But we try. And have lost a little bit but still need to lose more! We are currently doing Weight Watchers again seriously. We both want to lose 30 lbs ish before Disney and we are about half way there. It's doable but with the holidays coming up, it's gonna be a challenge!
A challenge that would be easier with a brand spanking new elliptical machine we bought last year :lmao:
Easier...?? Seriously?? For beginners, an elliptical was not a good idea. A stationary bike would have been much easier to start out with. A treadmill even. But an elliptical was challenging. At least that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it. So we rarely used it.
I had planned on doing a garage sale to help pay for the Disney trip, with our AKL upgrade :cheer2: and DDP plan cost looming. Big ticket item #1 was gonna be that elliptical. Well...... one day last week I was on the DISboards... big shock I know and I happened to be on the budget board, one I rarely frequent, and I saw a post about Costco's lifetime return policy. Too good to be true right?! I mean we bought it 17 mths ago and don't have the receipt.

But what harm is there in calling and asking??
I called and explained when we bought it and that I didn't have the receipt and that there was nothing wrong with it, that we just were too lazy... um I mean inexperienced to use it. They said.....

NO PROBLEM!!! Bring it on in and we'll give you CASH!!!!!
:dance3:  :dance3:

Seriously?!

Well, before poor Mr. I took it all apart and put it in the back of the SUV, I called back today to make sure I had the right information. I would have hated to have gotten up there with that 300 lbs thing and been told no. And since I had forgotten to get the name of the person .... :rolleyes1 I had no way of saying but but but... so and so said it was ok.

But today, when I was told yes it would be fine, I got her name. The one glitch was that she said they couldn't give me cash.... we'd have to take a Costco gift card... Meh. Not quite as good as cash but who can't find a way to spend money at Costco? The trick was going to be not spending it all at one time and using it in lieu of grocery budget money, so the grocery budget money could go to Disney! Let me tell you, a SLR camera or a new flat panel TV were both VERY tempting! But we had to be grown up about it. We wanted Disney more and couldn't have Disney and a new camera or TV. Being an adult sucks sometimes!!

We got all loaded up (which was fun let me tell you... I had to drive because my legs are shorter and we had to bungee cord the back door shut) and got up there and the lady I had spoken to was the returns manager. She was standing there and instructed the guy at the register to give us a Costco gift card... but she walked away.

When the guy finished the transaction he asked if we wanted cash or credit... um... Cash if it's an option. SURE he says and counts out $866 bucks. :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

We did get some things from Costco. Only fair to put some money back their way. But we have more than enough to pay for our upgrade and make a dent in our DDP!!

Does anyone else see the irony in posting about a returned elliptical machine that's gonna pay for a Disney trip filled with ADRs ?! :lmao:

So without further ado...

THE ADR LIST made possible by the DDP that the returned unused elliptical paid for!!!

This is the third version... the short of it is... we switched Wolfgang Puck Cafe for San Angel Inn after reading really bad reviews of Wolfgang Puck. We loved Shinois in Vegas but have read that WPC has gone downhill in recent years and hate to waste a TS credit there. I know San Angel Inn gets mixed reviews as well but the atmosphere is awesome, and this was the one Mr. I picked to replace his beloved Wolfgang Puck meatloaf meal, and we get great Tex-Mex in Austin all the time, so we are going in expecting bad food... :rotfl: Just give me a margarita or three and I'll be fine. :thumbsup2

Then there was the great resort upgrade heard round the world.

Which opened up all kinds of possibilities. We have never attempted an ADR for breakfast because we aren't morning people and with MIL last trip we definitely weren't gonna make it. In fact, I cancelled Kona breakfast last year, the morning of.

BUT with Boma just downstairs I figure we have a good chance of making it and if MIL doesn't get up in time, we can just leave her in the room.

I added Boma breakfast for our departure morning for those counting we'd have to pay out of pocket for this.

Then I started thinking... and looking at what we'd be ordering from Jiko... and really it doesn't fit well for a TS credit. We'd prolly want an appetizer so that would be OOP and a few cocktails so that's OOP and we'd probably be too stuffed to both get dessert. So we are going to pay OOP for Jiko and use the 2 TS credits elsewhere. When I priced out all the meals, some of our 1TS meals will cost $98 for all 4 of us, where the Jiko 2TS meal would cost around $100 for the 2 of us. So it makes more sense to use the TS credits for 2 1TS meals.

And we decided we'd rather try Boma dinner instead of eating 50s PT Cafe. We both have great cooks for mother's and Mr. I is a chef and cooks home cookin' all the time, so we'd rather try something new that we can't get everyday!

So our final ADR list (at least for now is):

Weds 1/13 Le Cellier Lunch 1:30pm for 4 *
Thurs 1/14 Boma Dinner 8:50pm for 4
Fri 1/15 San Angel Inn 6:30pm for 4
Sat 1/16 Jiko 8:55pm for 2
Sun 1/17 Tutto Italia 6:35pm for 7**
Mon 1/18 LTT 11:55pm for 5
Mon 1/18 'Ohana 8:55pm for 5
Tues 1/19 Boma 8:55am for 5

*Originally wanted dinner but the items we are looking to order are on both menus so not a problem. It should be said we could have gotten a dinner ressie for Sun the 17th, our other Epcot day, but the 17th is Mr. Incredible's birthday and he's rather have Italian and his mom would rather have Italian and that's her only Epcot day. They both loved Tutto last year, as well as I did, so really, switching days wasn't an option.

**The only reservation I made with the hopes of BIL and SIL joining. It is Mr. I's birthday meal so that would be ideal if they could join. And with MLK holiday I feel the chances of them joining for that meal are better than the meals on Monday. We're too selfish to include them in on our date night. So I made it for 7.

The only ADR I'm second guessing, currently, is LTT. I've never eaten there and the sticky toffee pudding looks good, but now that CP is closed for refurb and LTT is going to be a character meal... scares me a little. I've already read about slow service. Characters can't help that !

So there ya go!!!! The ADR list!

Next up... the day to day plans, complete with CS meals to fill in the gaps!

Great ending. I love Tutto Italia. Your pictures turned out great. I am glad that your last night had such special memories for you.:goodvibes

Thanks belle!! I love Tutto too! Really looking forward to a big meal there with the entire family, to celebrate Mr. Incredible's birthday... the boys' bdays too but mainly that meal will be for Mr. I! I thought the pictures turned out pretty well myself! One of these days I want to take a class and get a decent camera so I can do justice to all the beautiful things there are in this world!!

That last night was great!! :cloud9:

Score on the Costco return!!

I think your ADRs look great! Lots of yummy places to eat! :thumbsup2

Score!!! I still can't believe our luck! Now I'm contemplating whether we're still gonna do a garage sale!

The ADRs are shaping up nicely! Hopefully they won't change too much more! I need to stay away from the Dining Review board. Everytime I read a new yummy review, I think hmmmm maybe we should eat THERE instead! :lmao:

The only problem I've had with the online dining reservation system is I can't figure out how to cancel an ADR online.... or do you have to call to cancel? I know I need to cancel the unwanted ADRs, just hoping there's a way to do it online! Does anyone know it it's possible and if so, how?

For Brook and Sare and whomever else was reading my TR that I failed to finish...

A foolish TR finally finished ( like my title twinnie??)

yes, i love the title!

Here is a link to the TR from Jan 09 Hop, Skip and a Week!! A TR full of Mayhem, Masticating and Mortification!

I wasn't gonna miss Soarin'.
darn skippy! Stopped to take a few pics.

and looking very snazzy... nice ears!

That's so sweet

Continued from previous post!

We left Italy and took some more pics as we slowly headed back around toward Canada.
http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll60/myjanboys/DSC00903.jpg
Another traditional photo op spot. I have a picture of myself, at 6, in the same pose. Gonna frame the pic of me and of Dash together, at some point!
Turning into such a little man!

http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll60/myjanboys/DSC00913.jpg
My second favorite artsy fartsy pic. It, too, will be an 8x10 in the office. I hope to take more pics to add to the office wall of places we've been!
i like this one, too

We eventually made our way to the Land in time for our FP window. Soarin' was as wonderful as I remembered. :lovestruc One of my faves for sure.

Thankfully that did not happen but man would it have fit in with the rest of the mortification on this trip!

Okay i'm trying not to laugh at this image... but i just can't help it :rotfl::lmao: and you know if i'd been there i'd be too busy laughing at you and taking pictures to help you up....

I laid a sleeping Jack-Jack into his stroller and he stayed asleep. He was so tired by this point. We were all reunited shortly after and I'm happy to report that Mr. I really enjoyed Soarin' as well!!! :lovestruc:

I was all for it.

i remember you texting me about this at the time

This picture cracks me up

http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll60/myjanboys/DSC00934.jpg
As was Jack-Jack.
look at his chubby lil cheeks!!

Uh, YEAH. Duh. Of course that's what you do! :confused3

*sighs*

Something we're going to take into consideration next trip!

i still wish you had gone with her so you would get to see Wishes. i still feel bad that you had to miss it the whole trip!

But it was one of my most warm and fuzzy moments of the trip.
awwwww :lovestrucIt was just the four of us and it was great! Gave me hope that we can do a trip without extra help. yes, you canWe shopped some, but not much.

But he's so darn CUTE with fat little cheeks!

Ahhh, more late-night shopping!

Mr. I packing up.Ummmm it looks more like he's trashing the room, to be honest... "Let me just grab one more thing to throw on the bed..."

http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll60/myjanboys/DSC00969.jpg
Jack-Jack playing with his new toys, glad to be out of the stroller!Hehe the familiar sight of Jack-jack sans pants.

I was done with pics by this point :rotfl:Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm waffles!

Eventually it was time to load up on the ME. We hugged and kissed MIL and said our goodbyes and loaded up. When we arrived at MCO we found out that our flight was delayed. So we camped out at the foodcourt, ate McD's, and did some of Dash's homework. Took some pictures.

http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll60/myjanboys/DSC00983.jpg
Mom wanted on it next. Said she's hadn't been on one since she was in her 20s. Her face cracks me up in this picture!
Yep she looks like she's remembering being 25 and looking at you wondering how she got here so fast! :rolleyes1

Nooooo it can't be over!

IT was a great trip. Looking back 10 months later, it was a really great trip. We definitely had our (ok my) frustrations but it was a wonderful, memory making, hubby brainwashing trip. Heheheh :lmao: i need one of those.

Thank you for finishing your TR for me!!!! lulu!

Yay for Costco giving the money back - and in cash, no less. Whoot!!!

:yay: you finished your TR! Love it! There is SO much to comment on, I'll try to remember it all:

- So sweet about someone giving Dash the extra pins! :wizard:
- Love the pics of you and Mr. I, you got some really great ones.
- And of course, love the pics of the kids! Adorable as always!
- Great artsy shots in Italy too. :thumbsup2 If I remember, I might steal your angles...for pictures for the house! Great idea!
- That stinks about having to nurse on the floor - but I SO understand why. You are a good Momma for enduring that. :goodvibes I was laughing out loud at the thought of the sink coming off the wall, I can completely picture it.... :lmao:
- Sorry to hear about the stuff with MIL wanting to go back to the room at 4! :sad2: BUT, it turned into a great night for just you four, so that is perfect!

And I was giggling at your ADR story - I even told Joe who started to laugh with me. It is SO something we would do too!!!!! :rotfl: Score on the $866 CASH. Woot!!!!! :yay:

Your ADRs look great! Boma breakfast. Drooooooooooool. How I love thee! It is worth getting up for!

Thanks for all the comments through the TR finale, Sare!! I can't figure out how to quote your quotes without quoting the whole two posts again!! :confused3

hehe @ booking at midnight. Someone else needs to try that to see if it'll work!!

Costco return was awesome!! I was already pretty hooked on them but now I'm definitely a customer for life. Now they have gotten smart and have limited their lifetime return policy on cell phones, laptops, ipods, cameras, tv's etc to a 90 day return policy. And I can't blame them. I knew a guy that would buy a laptop from them and return it yearly. So I'm sure they had to adjust their policy but it does work on everything else!

Need to call and cancel those ADRs this week!!

Saw the pics!! Awesome :)

:yay: you finished your TR! Love it! There is SO much to comment on, I'll try to remember it all:

- So sweet about someone giving Dash the extra pins! :wizard:

It was sweet! My mom says the guy was a 'manager' for Innoventions. One of the pins Dash got was a pirate Mickey, almost in a vinylamation likeness so he LOVES that one. He may trade the other two and we may get him a lanyard this trip if he's starting to get into it on his own.

- Love the pics of you and Mr. I, you got some really great ones.

Awww thanks!! I always seem to remember on the last day to take more pictures! I think I doubled our entire pic count for the trip, on that last Epcot day.

- And of course, love the pics of the kids! Adorable as always!

Thanks !!

- Great artsy shots in Italy too. :thumbsup2 If I remember, I might steal your angles...for pictures for the house! Great idea!

Steal away!!

- That stinks about having to nurse on the floor - but I SO understand why. You are a good Momma for enduring that. :goodvibes I was laughing out loud at the thought of the sink coming off the wall, I can completely picture it.... :lmao:

:lmao: It is funny now... but I was seriously feeling the pressure, knowing there were people waiting for the family restroom and I needed to get up off that floor!! Hopefully this trip I won't have a knee and foot injury. And of course Jack-Jack isn't nursing anymore!

- Sorry to hear about the stuff with MIL wanting to go back to the room at 4! :sad2: BUT, it turned into a great night for just you four, so that is perfect!

It did turn out great. I just couldn't believe the 180 she took. *sigh* I think it just proved that her not wanting to push a sleeping Jack-Jack in his stroller the day before was more an indication of her wanting to sit on the bench than not wanting to push Jack-Jack. :rolleyes1

And I was giggling at your ADR story - I even told Joe who started to laugh with me. It is SO something we would do too!!!!! :rotfl: Score on the $866 CASH. Woot!!!!! :yay:

Heheheh This will forever be the trip with the food paid for by an elliptical machine! :rotfl: Glad I'm not the only one to sell an exercise machine for high caloric intake! :thumbsup2

Your ADRs look great! Boma breakfast. Drooooooooooool. How I love thee! It is worth getting up for!

I'm definitely looking forward to Boma breakfast... but lately I've read some less than favorable opinions of Boma dinner buffet... Have you and Joe eaten there for dinner? Thoughts?

:cheer2: for page 3!!! If anyone else is reading, don't be shy :flower3:

Sorry for the delay in posts, everyone!!
 I've been sick this weekend.... woke up Friday morning with a stomach virus and it only lasted about 24 hrs but I still feel beat up and puney. Thank God the kids and Mr. I haven't caught it. Dash did miss his first day of school on Friday though because I was literally incapable of getting him there. But 1 absence, hopefully, for the whole first semester should make next semester easier to miss 5 days for Disney!!
My mom did drive the hour and half from her house Friday morning and stayed through Sunday. her. She was just a great help! I thought my house was clean before she got here..... She rearranged my pantry, helped Dash clean out his closet, matched socks, did copious loads of laundry. She's 66 and put me to shame! :rotfl: Which makes me wonder why she thinks she can't go to Disney... :sad2: After I started feeling better Saturday evening, I showed her some pictures of AKL since she wasn't on our date last year. ;)

She really liked the looks of it too, though I don't think the pics even begin to do it justice. She is now talking about taking a trip in May with a good friend of hers. So she's getting excited about it. I'm a little sad that she's not going with us, but glad that she'll get a whole new type of trip. I know she loves going with her grandkids, but I'm also sure that it adds extra work and responsibilty to her, too. A trip, with just a girlfriend, will be a nice change for her! :goodvibes

I'm gonna try to get an update done tonight or tomorrow...

The next update is gonna be a To Do List and Arrival Day Plans!!

Feeling much better, though still not 100%. Gave me a good jump in the weight loss dept though hehehe. I think I lost about 7 lbs last weekend! :woohoo: Not a great way to lose it but I'll take it.

I'm glad you are better! Hooray for your mother! That was so sweet of her... :goodvibes

Thanks Wigd!! It was very sweet of her, and I'm bummed to report I got her sick!! She claims her case was much milder, thankfully, and she's already feeling better. Whatever bug it is, it's a fast one, thank God!

Now that I'm feeling better, and things are back into a somewhat normal schedule for our little family, it's time for that to do list and Day 1 Itinerary post!

:thumbsup2

The to do's are things I need to get done now, definitely not a master to do list for the trip.

Request copy of Jack-Jack's birth certifiate to prove he's under 2

Cancel unwanted ADRs, via phone or online if can figure out how :rolleyes1 DONE! Figured out how to do it online!

Call Pirate League and try to get an appt for Dash on MLK day :scared: I'm keeping this one a surprise in case they are booked or the park is just swamped that day

Work on a Countdown Calendar

Work on Master packing list

Start picking up a few things (ie travel size tolietries, Disney T-shirts, treats, etc) here and there to make it easier on the budget

Open new Utility deposit to get old account deposit back :yay:

File Dental Claim on Dash's secondary insurance to get a refund of $168 back

That's it for now! The utility deposit thing is kinda a long story but I'll try to keep it short. We bought the house we were living in, renting from my parents actually, last April. So the waster water, water, sewer and trash were all in my parents name. Over the years, with a different tenant for two of those years, the utility deposit grew from disconnects. :lmao: There's a $500 deposit built up on the account, and opening a new account is only a $100 deposit. I need to pay the new account deposit and Mom is going to give us the old deposit, since we paid the bill for the last 3 years anyway!

As you can see, we are paying for this trip with really imaginative funds! Dental claims, utility deposit, returning an elliptical machine, catching that our Home Owner's insurance was double paid for 5 mths with the confusion of the house purchase.

For those doing the math, :teacher:

$168 dental claim
$866 Costco elliptical return
$400 net difference from utility account
$178 from Home owner's insurance double coverage
$200 from Mother in law's portion of the room

=1812.00

Balance due before deposit that's already been paid... 1815!!! :dance3: :cheer2: :yay: :worship:  :cool1: :thumbsup2 :woohoo:

PAID for! We're charging the whole trip on my mom's SW Visa so she can get more points for free flights. But the trip will be paid for by all of those weird money finds.

All that will be left to pay for is the DDP and souvies and echnically we have $200 overage to pay toward the DDP. I'm going to add DDP about a week before we go so it's on another billing cycle of mom's visa and gives me an extra 30 days to pay her back! And yes I called Disney and made sure we could pay this off on a credit card that won't be with us when we check in. They said no problem. :woohoo:

Itinerary:

Monday, January 11th

Pick Dash up from school, as usual
Take Jasper, out doxle, to dog sitter
Finish packing
Hope Mr. I gets home around 6pm so he can pack himself, not that I wouldn't do it for him, he actually likes to do it himself! :scared1:
Load car up that night, except for things needs for light over night bag
Finish last minute house details, hate coming home to a messy house

Tuesday, January 12th

Wake the boys up at normal going to school time 7:00am
Eat light breakfast, take snacks with us
Leave the house by 7:30am
Arrive AUS airport around 8:15am. Toll road traffic should be fine, but this still allows for hitting morning rush hour some
Long term park and shuttle to the terminal
Check in Southwest, free bags!
Ck bags all the way through to ME (learned last year it's too hard with two kids, stroller, and all our bags!)
Eat breafkast again if hungry
Be in boarding area, group A hopefully by 9:30am
Flight leaves AUS 10:20am
Arrives MCO 1:45 :cloud9:
ME to AKL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :cheer2:
Check in to AKL, hope room is ready
Explore resort some, grab lunch if hungry, otherwise gets our tushes to MK
MK afternoon til 8pm
Bus back to AKL
Dinner at Mara
Sleep!!

MK Day 1 Park Goals:
IASW has to be first -family tradition
Splash Mtn
BTMRR
PoC
HM
SM (if open)
Wishes

My goal is to cover all the must do's for MK this afternoon evening because our other MK day is MLK day so I'm expecting ridiculous crowds. However, everything I'm reading says the crowds are bad for January, not necessarily bad for June crowd standards, so I'm optimistic but realistic at the same time. If we have to head back to the hotel on our last day and enjoy it until our dinner reservation at 'Ohana, then that's one more reason I'm glad we upgraded to AKL!

Stay tuned for Day 2's plans!!!!

i'm glad you're going to be tagging your bags right through to ME this time. Hopefully it will keep you from feeling you need to do some acrobatic interpretive dancing in the airport and therefore you won't spend the trip with a bum knee and ankle.

i'm so so so excited that you're staying at AKL this trip. i know it's all vicarious excitement but i'm soooo happy for you. If weird/funky/fuzzy Disney math is what it takes to get you there, then so be it. :goodvibes

Mr. I is in Denver for a business trip... however will I pass the time?

:surfweb:

:lmao:

Things are quiet around here, for now. It's kinda nice. Jack-Jack is taking a nap and Dash is away for the weekend.

What better time to do the DIS?

I haven't gotten much crossed off my To List I have to admit. I'm in a planning rut. So close, yet so far away....

I hope to get a lot done the week after Thanksgiving, cus ya know next week is shot with the holiday. I think I have decided against Pirate League. Dash was a pirate for Halloween

http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll60/myjanboys/DSC02474.jpg

and dresses up in his costume all the time. I think he'd rather spend the $50 on souvies, especially when you consider the only day we could do PL is MLK day itself and I'm concerned the park is gonna be so crowded we won't stay long.

But I'm getting ahead of myself talking about Day 7!!

Day 2 Itinerary

Wednesday, January 13th:
Sleep til normal school/work time = 8am ish EST
Light Snack credit breakfast from Mara, possibly even picking up the night before and eating it in our room
Bus over to Epcot
Obtain FP to Soarin' first thing
Cover as much of FW as time allows
Head to WS for 1:30pm lunch ressie at Le Cellier :woohoo: We get to try Le Cellier FINALLY! :yay:
Finish FW rides, Soarin' again if FP/wait times allow
Back to resort midday for nap/rest/swim
DTD in the early evening
Dinner at WPE - I'm not a huge pizza fan but I  the pepperoni
mushroom pizza from WPE
Goofy's Candy Company snacks to take back to resort
Ghiradelli Ice Cream for dessert
Back to AKL fairly early... around 10pm (9pm our body clock time)
Resort explore, take pictures, check out night vision animal viewing
Sleep!

Epcot goals:
Soarin' twice
SE
Test Track (missed this one last time)
Nemo

DTD goals:
TrenD
Basin
World of Disney
Once Upon a Toy
Ghiradelli
Goofy's
Make Your Own Tshirt

Thoughts on the Day:
As you can see we aren't gonna push Epcot this day. I figure our long arrival day may be taking it's toll and we have 3 Epcot days planned this trip. So our main goal is to just soak it in, take lots of pictures and enjoy being there!

DTD however, we have a lot to cover. This is our only schedule DTD evening. We may end up back over here, we did last year on a whim. BUT I don't want to take a chance on maybe getting back over there.

This is one of my favorite days planned so far, just because Epcot and DTD are really two of my favorite things! I love MK and DHS but Epcot and DTD on the same day?! AWESOME! Le Cellier AND WPE on the same day?!! :cloud9:

Stay tuned for Day 3 !!

What I do is get thumbnails of my pictures and put them in paint right next to each other and then save it as a document and then upload it to the Mickeypath ticker website. Sometimes you have to play with the size a bit to make them look right. If you can't figure it out, I can help you make one if you want. :goodvibes

What I do is get thumbnails of my pictures and put them in paint right next to each other and then save it as a document and then upload it to the Mickeypath ticker website. Sometimes you have to play with the size a bit to make them look right. If you can't figure it out, I can help you make one if you want. :goodvibes

Fabulous idea!! I'll have to work on that. The only thing is I hate to lose my 'progress' by starting over with a new ticker!! :rotfl:

I may holler at you if I can't get it to work!

Thanks!! :goodvibes

I just found this and I've been literally lol-ing:rotfl2: That's so cool that you could move up to AKL! I told my mom about it with the 3/4 deal and her response: "Why don't we do that?" "It won't be happening when we're there" "So pick a different time!" "When? I can't miss two weeks of college! We're not going over spring break and we won't have the money by January!" "Oh, yeah" Here's to hoping they extend the 4/3 deal...
You're creative use of funds also made me chuckle. I'm sad to hear about the elliptical though, because I use that at my school gym and I love it-doesn't kill my shins like the treadmill!
I see you want to ride Splash Mountain, but in case you didn't know, it will be closed then:sad2: Space will be open though! Your dining choices sound good, we are also eating at Le Cellier, Boma (breakfast) and LTT (non-character lunch), so I'm looking forward to hearing about those.

Glad you are reading and enjoying it... if you have time go back and read the TR from January. Some definite comedy (mostly at my expense) in that report. ;)

LOL @ your mom. Sounds like my mom. They extended the deal last year so fingers crossed for you getting the deal!!!
As far as January goes, not to encourage debt or anything but you know the Disney Visa offers 6 mths no interest on Disney vakays right?! :rolleyes1 Just saying !!

Splash is closed?!!?!?!?! Oh no!!! How in the world did I miss this?!!? Dash is gonna be heartbroken! :sad2: Thanks for letting me know!!

We booked with a AAA discount and that saved us $150, but this deal would be better! We really wanted to stay at POFQ or POR, but we're okay with All Star Music because it's just the two of us and we won't be in the room that much. I applied for a Disney Visa, but because I have no prior credit history they wouldn't approve me :sad2:

Been there done that!! I know the frustration of all those great perks that are only available to people that can qualify for a cc! Hang in there!! One day, all that debt er I mean perks can be yours too !

We've stayed Value the last two trips and love Pop. No more time than we traditionally spend in the resort, the values are a great.... wait for it...
VALUE! :lmao:

Hopefully they'll extend the 4/3 deal through the dates you guys want. Last year the 4/3 was good for value as well as mod or deluxe. The only reason it was such a great deal for this trip for us to upgrade was because of the 4/3 v. 5/2 deal difference.

Sending pixiedust: your way!!!

:dance3: for multiple Soarin' rides. The only thing that could make it better is for Mr. I and I to get to do it together. That's a goal of mine for Epcot Day 7, for MIL to watch the boys so Mr. I and I can ride Soarin' together for the first time!

Oops, there I go again getting ahead of myself. :rolleyes1

LOL @ brief visit into Canada. I think I should petition Disney to do a Texas pavilion. I mean afterall, we're practically our own country. :rotfl2: That way you could briefly visit Texas too !!

I just called and paid our package off!!!!!!

Thanks to Leslie.... :rolleyes1 I also asked if they had availability to check in a night early and fly out 6:30pm Monday instead of 10:30am Tuesday. They did have a room but it would have added an extra $284 dollars ! That's half the cost of DDP for the 3 of us that are old enough! I was tempted to add the day but just couldn't do it! :sad2:

Am gonna play with flying in a day earlier and booking a room at Pop. :hippie: and then moving over to AKL the next morning... Don't know if it's worth it or not. But am gonna play with it online anyway, for the heck of it.

BUT!! regardless of what we decide about the extra night or not, our 7 days at AKL are paid for!!!!!!!!!!

Pop's an extra 100$. So it's tempting but I think I've about talked myself out of it. We'd get into MCO at 11pm, by the time we got to Pop we'd be pooped! Then have to get up the next morning early, repack whatever we unpacked, get over to AKL, ck in .... cus there's no way I'd want to go to MK before getting AKL settled, I'm weird like that... hopefully get our room... we might get to MK by 1pm? As opposed to 4pm if we keep it the way it is now... with non-stop flights and plenty of sleep the night before...??

So yeah... I think I've ixnayed that idea!! But it was fun to think about and plan in my head while it lasted!!! :rotfl:

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!! I hope everyone is having a wonderful day full of good food and great company!

I'm sitting at home watching football. Mr. I had to work and Dash is with his Dad. Jack-Jack is down for a nap. So I'm curled up with the newest addition to our little family- Bella our long haired chihuahua puppy. I'm smitten. I must admit. I decided our beagle/dachshund aka doxle puppy Jasper, needed a playmate. And I wanted a smaller dog this time, since Jasper got way bigger than I thought he would, really too big to be an indoor dog. Jasper is spending more and more time in the backyard, much to our fences dismay; he's shredding it! I really wanted a lap dog  So far it's working out really well. Bella's a little too young to play with Jasper just yet, but they get along really well and she likes to hide under the sofa and come out and attack him when he's not looking and then dash back under. :lmao: I'm having fun watching their antics. As are the boys. Jack-Jack has started calling her "Bewwa" which is too stinking cute, even if I am biased. :cloud9:

We are heading to my parents house this weekend for our holiday celebration. The boys, dogs and I are going down tomorrow and Mr. I is joining us Saturday after he gets off work. My mom moved our family Thanksgiving to the weekend after, years ago to accomodate in-law's. It's worked out really well.

So that's why I'm sitting at home on Thanksgiving, curled up with a 7 wk old chihuahua, watching football! It's kinda nice actually! :goodvibes

I figured with my little unexpected quiet time, I should add Day 3 plans !! :thumbsup2

Day 3 Itinerary-

Thursday, January 14th:
Sleep til normal work/school time
Breakfast at Mara
Bus to DHS
FPs for TSM
ToT and RnRRC single rider and FPS
Light Lunch at Starring Rolls
Take our time explorin' DHS
Leave for afternoon nap if boys' need it
Return to DHS if time allows
Return to AKL at park close
Boma dinner ressie @ 8:50pm - a first for us!
Bed!

DHS goals:
TSM-missed this last year
ToT multiple times
RnRRC
VoLM
Playhouse Disney
Butterfinger cupcake :rolleyes1
StarTours for Dash
Great Movie ride if time allows

Thoughts:

This may be our only DHS day. While we love the park, there are only a few things we feel we have to do. We could sit and soak up the streetmosphere for hours but with two little boys, that's difficult. I don't believe Fantasmic is playing that night but even if it was, we'd skip it. I wasn't a huge fan :confused3 and would rather get back to the resort at a decent time and get a late dinner at Boma! :yay:

I just paid a renewal subscription for TGM. I didn't really listen to him last year, and had quite a few days that were poorly timed. Because of MLK weekend, I felt that it would pay me to see what he has to say about this year. I have a problem that I'm a traditionalist and like to go to the parks in order, that is, the order that I always did them as a child. In order of oldest to newest. So that's hard to deviate from, but I may have to, considering the holiday weekend. I'll let you guys know what he says and if/how it's gonna affect our plans!!

Edit: Ok TGM had some good points, so I'm breaking tradition and going out of order, kinda. We're gonna do two Epcot days in a row and do DHS on Day 4 instead of Day 3. Since we aren't huge Fantasmic fans, we're gonna skip DHS on the day that is Fantasmic because of the crowds. So I'll repost Day 3 plans as a second Epcot day and move these plans to Day 4 in the next update!

Alrighty...

So after carefully reviewing TGM's plans for our dates, I decided that we were gonna flip flop our 2nd day in Epcot and our DHS day. My original plans had us in DHS on a Fantasmic day, and TGM, rightfully so, advises against this strongly. And since we have no desire to see Fantasmic anyway, why torture ourselves with the crowds?

To sooth my weird hang up about not going into the parks "out of order", we're doing Epcot two days in a row then DHS. Technically still in order. :goodvibes

Something else TGM really made me rethink is getting into the parks early and going back to the hotel for a rest. It's always been a option for me, but nothing definitive. Now, I know some of you are saying well duh! But, I think we are really going to try to get to the parks as close to opening as possible on the days MIL is MIA! And then make the time to get back to the hotel mid afternoon, especially on the parks that don't close 'early'. Regardless if the boys seem tired or not!

Revised:

Day 3 Itinerary-

Thursday, January 14th:
Sleep in, thus eliminating need for midday break
Make our way to Epcot whenever we wake up and get going
Grab breakfast/lunch at Sunshine Seasons
Grab FP for Soarin' if available and head to WS.
Dinner ressie at San Angel Inn 6:30pm
Grab FW rides if walk on
Illuminations ?

Epcot Goals:
TAKE OUR TIME!!

Thoughts:
There are lots of shows and exhibits I've never seen, much less Mr. I and the boys. I want to seek these out !
Illuminations will depend on rather we caught it the night before and how tired the boys (read: Mr. I) are.
Margaritas at San Angel Inn. I don't think I'll be taking the boys into the Ditch aka the Tequila bar. Just not something I really want to explain to Dash. He's off the age where everything is black and white and right now alcohol is BAD. So, taking him into a BAR I think he'd have a stroke. :lmao:

I had no problem switching my San Angel Inn ressie from Friday to Thursday. Same time and everything. :thumbsup2

Day 4 Itinerary-
*copy and pasted from previous update*

Friday, January 15th:
Sleep til normal work/school time
Breakfast at Mara
Bus to DHS as early as we can muster
FPs for TSM
ToT FPs and RnRRC-single rider or FPs w/ baby swap
Light Lunch at Starring Rolls
Take our time explorin' DHS
Leave for afternoon nap/rest. **
Return to DHS if time allows
Return to AKL at park close
Boma dinner ressie @ 8:30pm - a first for us!
Bed!

DHS goals:
TSM-missed this last year
ToT multiple times
RnRC
VoLM
Playhouse Disney
Butterfinger cupcake
StarTours for Dash
Great Movie ride if time allows

Thoughts:

**This is the one early close exception to my newly TGM enforced afternoon rest policy because of the early closing hours and its our only DHS day. It's really gonna depend on how much we get done that morning!

This may be our only DHS day. While we love the park, there are only a few things we feel we have to do. We could sit and soak up the streetmosphere for hours but with two little boys, that's difficult. Again, not a huge fan of Fantasmic so we aren't worried about being in the park on a day it's showing. Changed our Boma ressie to Friday instead of Thurs with no problem. Bumped it up by 20 mins since DHS closes at 7 pm this night. Will give us time to get to the room and refresh/change clothes if we want before dinner!! :)

Day 3 and Day 4 DONE!!! Love TGM! I knew to avoid EMH park days but didn't really think about how rare Fantasmic is showing = crowded parks those days. So thankfully I was able to rearrange without offending my ocd-ness. :rotfl:

The only yellow day we're looking at, according to TGM, is actually on MLK day. But you'll have to wait and see what our plans are for that day later. :rolleyes1

I made customized park maps today and had them mailed. I know the parks pretty well after 25 years and 12 trips but I think the maps will be cool to have as souvies and Dash is learning about maps, so he'll enjoy having OUR own maps made for us!

On a related, unrelated note, I ordered a new bag this afternoon for our trip!!!! :woohoo:

I've been looking at Vera Bradley and Baggallini's for a while. Last year I used a Pottery Barn Kids diaper bag one shoulder strap backback. Loved it! It was great! But it's a little bigger than I'm wanting to carry on this trip and for future trips. It worked well for last year, with Jack-Jack only being 12 mths and needing more stuff. This year I'm hoping to get away with only a few diapers, small pack of wet wipes and one change of clothes. Maybe some infant tylenol, and a few other small items like that. But I won't need to take multiple changes of clothes, baby food, baby snacks, sippy cups etc. :thumbsup2

I found on the ebags site, an ebag brand bag comparable to baggallini but a little less expensive, especially with the Black Friday deal and free shipping. It looks a little smaller than the Baggallini messenger bag, but bigger than just the travel shoulder pouch.

Here's a link to the one I ordered:

Handy dandy bag link (https://secure.ebags.com/ebags/piazza_day_bag/product_detail/index.cfm?modelid=94553)

I ordered it in the color Chili, that way it's still Disney-ish and girly-ish but not something Mr. I would feel weird carrying! I really like it!! :cheer2:

After the free shipping, I paid less than $50 for it including tax.

Oh and according to TGM we have 47 days to go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bout time to make that countdown calendar so Dash can better visualize how much longer we have to go!

Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving and that your good times continue into the weekend!!

Hey everyone!!! Sitting here watching Disney shows on the Travel Channel!! :goodvibes

Time just keeps on truckin', doesn't it!? Thanksgiving has already passed us by, our Christmas tree is up, ordered most of the presents already--only a few more left on my list--we're getting ready for school holiday parties and then before we know it, Christmas will be here! :santa:

Dash had what I think was Fifth disease over Thanksgiving. The only symptoms that he had was the rash, but now Jack-Jack is running fever and overall feels crummy. No rash yet. So I don't know if he's caught what Dash had or has something else?? :confused3 If he's not better by tomorrow, I'll have to take him to his ped. It's like deja vu though. This was the time last year that he started with the whole Scarlet fever thing that took a month to diagnose. :sad2: I'm hoping this is just a virus that he'll get over on his own! I guess the bright side is we're getting all our sicknesses out of the way early!

I got our Disney store order in! :woohoo: The t-shirts are all very cute. I was going to wrap the boys' shirts for under the tree but Mister Dash got a butter knife out of the drawer and opened the box before I knew what he was doing! :scared1:  I told him he still had to act surprised when I wrapped them under the tree for Christmas eve family gift exchange. He likes the idea of 'acting' so that should be funny.

I also got my ebag in!! :cloud9: Love it. It's the perfect size. I'm super excited about it. I may have to pack a small supplemental diaper bag for extra diapers, but the bag should work for everything else, and will definitely work for future trips. I have to remind myself I won't be taking a diaper clad toddler to Disney much longer. A joyful thought but a tad bittersweet too. They grow up so fast!

I've found a Masters program that I plan to start the application process after we return from Disney. When I finish, I'll be a Licensed Specialist in School Psych!! I'm excited about it. The timing should work out great too. I should be done about the time Jack-Jack starts Kinder so that should be about perfect to go back to work! And since it'll be in the education field, I'll have the same breaks from school they do! :thumbsup2

Enough blabbering about non-Disney stuff eh?

On with the Itinerary!

Day 5 Itinerary-

Saturday, January 16th:
Sleep til normal school/work time
Open day --- come again???? Did I just say open day?!?! :lmao:
Most likely will hit AK for a short period of time, maybe DHS if we didn't get it covered the day before
Return to resort early afternoon
Chill, relax, explore, swim, sleep etc
Meet MIL in the lobby when she arrives
Hang out with her, visiting and letting Jack-Jack get reacquainted with his grandma
Get ready for our date
Head down a little early, get cocktails at one of the lounges in AK
Dinner ressie at Jiko for 8:55pm-party of 2
Return to the room
Tuck the kids in
Sleep!

IF AK-goals:
Lion King
EE
Nemo
Maybe Safari if time

Thoughts:
AK is our least favorite park. Mr. I didn't enjoy EE as much as I do... so this park isn't a huge priority for us. I love Lion King but we missed it last year so Mr. I doesn't know what he's missing. Nemo, neither of us have seen so that's a new goal. We may head back to DHS if we didn't cover all we wanted to the day before. TGM said MK and Epcot were both no-no's this day, seeing as how MLK weekend will be starting in full swing by Saturday. We don't want to spend a full day in the park, because we'll want to meet up with MIL and as she's only getting a two day ticket, she won't be able to go into a park this day anyway. Hence the date night. Really AK makes the most sense for a half day park! BUT I promised myself I'd stay open and flexible. :rolleyes1 I'll let y'all know how well that works out for us! :rotfl2:

Update to Day 4 plans:

I went ahead and added a lunch ressie for Mama Melrose's for lunch. None of the CS's in DHS really excite me. I made the reservation for 12:15pm and our dinner ressie for Boma is at 8:30pm. Should be plenty of time between the two to get hungry enough for a buffet!!

Up next - DAY 6 Intinerary which just happens to be Mr. I's birthday!!! :cheer2:

Just got a note from SIL that she and BIL will be joining us afterall!! :cool1:
They are staying just two nights, over the weekend, at Coronado Springs, arriving Sat and leaving on Monday. I don't know if they are planning to just go in the park with us on Sunday or what. Hopefully will get more details from her soon. I already added them to the Sunday ressie at Tutto Italia back when I made it, knowing that was the day they would most likely be there all day, so I was right about that! :thumbsup2 Thinking of moving our Boma breakfast ressie from Tuesday to Monday so we can all have breakfast together before they have to head back home. That would mean cancelling our LTT lunch ressie and getting to MK a little later on Monday but that would be ok! It'll be our second MK day anyway, and the most important thing to me will be Wishes that night! I'm already prepared for massive crowds that day and have a backup plan of watching Wishes from the Poly Beach that night. Oops, I'm giving away furture day plans!! :rolleyes1

The really cool thing is Mr. I will get to spend his birthday with his mom and sister! Something he hasn't done in years, since he moved to Texas to marry me! :cloud9: I'm excited for him, that he'll have his whole family with him on his birthday !

Will put up day 6 plans, and possible amend day 5 plays as soon as I hear from SIL!

I'm definitely looking forward to Boma breakfast... but lately I've read some less than favorable opinions of Boma dinner buffet... Have you and Joe eaten there for dinner? Thoughts?

We have eaten dinner there, on our Disneymoon back in 2006, so quite a while ago! If I remember correctly, it was after our first full day there. We enjoyed it, I remember eating a TON of pita bread and hummus and sipping the coffee. But, I also remember it not being our favorite....just our tastes. I've never really read a poor review of it - I'm shocked it's getting less than favorable reviews!!!! What are people saying about it?

I was obviously behind - so I have to say that I'm glad you are feeling better...a month ago. :lmao: :goodvibes All those sickies better STAY AWAY. ::yes::

I love how you are paying for the trip with all the "found" money! That is just awesome....and to be paid in full is even better! :yay:

Your plans are looking GREAT!!! I like how you can manipulate it a bit, but still feed your OCD. :rotfl:

I've never really read a poor review of it - I'm shocked it's getting less than favorable reviews!!!! What are people saying about it?

Just that it's too exotic and that the Americanized food offerings aren't anything special. It's on our first to cancel list if that makes any sense. Because we're staying at AKL, depending on how we like Mara, we'll probably keep it if we have the credits, or are starving that night. But if we need the credits, we'll cancel.

I was obviously behind - so I have to say that I'm glad you are feeling better...a month ago. :lmao: :goodvibes All those sickies better STAY AWAY. ::yes::

Thanks! :goodvibes We've all been varying forms of sickies! Dash missed two days of school last week with fever, headache, and itcy achy eyes. I'm thinking it was a sinus infection. He got over it on his own. I'm not a huge fan of antibiotics so I try to let the fever do its thing when possible. Thankfully this time, that's all it took. His body took care of it! :thumbsup2 So he'll be able to make it to school this week, and enjoy all the holiday festivities! :santa:

I love how you are paying for the trip with all the "found" money! That is just awesome....and to be paid in full is even better! :yay:

HEHE I liked all my found money too!! Can't think of a better thing to do with found money, than to pay for a trip to Disney!

Your plans are looking GREAT!!! I like how you can manipulate it a bit, but still feed your OCD. :rotfl:

Gotta keep momma happy :rotfl: And my boys know it!

:lmao: I LOVE how you put this on the Goals list!!! Is it found at Starring Rolls? It sounds DIVINE.

It's Starring Rolls yes! I haven't had it yet. But I saw a pic on a Dining Review. OMG! MUST have!!! :worship:

Hey everyone!! :goodvibes

I hope everyone is enjoying the holiday season!! I know we are!

We're down to 30 days!!!! :cool1:

I'm nearly done with all my Christmas shopping. I have to work on MIL's gift this week and get it ordered--doing a photobook on Shutterfly for her.
Then one more gift to purchase for a nephew and I'm done!! D O N E! Not too bad, if you knew my history. I've been known to put it off til the 23rd of DEC!!! :scared1: Course that was pre-kids. I'm much better about it now that I have to think about :santa: etc.

I got Jack-Jack's birth certificate in the mail. It, along with the ME tags, are tucked safely in my ebag. Did I mention I  the ebag? Will post pics soon. The Disney shirts are tucked safely away. Dash has been asking to wear them to school to which the answer has been, and is going to stay, NO! I want to save them for Disney... if for no other reason than STAINS! That boy gets half his lunch on his shirt.

Mr. I spoke to his sister and got a bit more details about their trip. They are driving down on Saturday, from Atlanta, and driving back on Monday. So they :lovestruc us to be doing that to see us for a day! Bless their hearts! So we'll get A - 1 - UNO - SOLO day with them in Epcot. Thankfully that just so happens to be the day I had made a reservation for Tutto Italia for 7. Go me for being Disney-psychic. Who knew!!!!

To Do list updated:
~Finish MIL's gift-have shipped to SIL
~Itemize existing travel size goodies and purchase any needed
~Start packing items not needed between now and then
~Pack customized maps as soon as they arrive
~Finalize and confirm all ADRs
~Tip money
~Print airline confirmations
~Decide about online hotel checkin
~Mail Christmas packages
~Finish countdown chain I started
~Get Mr. I's car into the shop
~Find 17 small gifts for Dash's Christmas party (any ideas?!-has to be
something CHEAP per the school's instructions)

I'm sure I'm forgetting a ton of things from that list... but that's all I have for now.

Here's the Itinerary for Day 6-

Sunday, January 17th:
Sleep til normal wake up time
Eat light breakfast at Mara
Meet BIL and SIL either at hotel or Epcot
FPs for Soarin'
Hit the highlights of FW
Lunch at Sunshine Seasons or around the world snackage
World Showcase
Dinner for 7 at Tutto Italia at 6:30pm
Illuminations for all those interested in staying
Back to hotel, saying bye to SIL and BIL at some point

Must Do's:
Soarin'
Slushie from France

Thoughts:
I know... now many Must Do's this day, but I AM TRYING TO BE FLEXIBLE! :lmao: This is the one day that BIL and SIL have so I'm gonna try to chill and let them kinda lead the way with some gentle guiding. :rolleyes1
Soarin' is a must do though!! MIL loves it and this will be her only day in Epcot. And BIL and SIL haven't been to Epcot since they put Soarin' in. So definitely must do. As far as the slushie goes, it could just as easily end up being a margarita or martini. I just figure with all 7 of us, alcohol will be something I'll need by the end of the day! :rotfl2:
I'm really looking forward to Tutto with Mr. I's whole family. The 17th is his birthday, so I'm excited that he gets something special on his day. Italy at Epcot with his whole family is pretty high up there on his special list. :cloud9:

Will get Day 7's plans done soon and will update the To List and start a Packing list!! Plus I may just include our budgets for ADRs tip figuring. Don't know yet... might be a bit nerdie for you all! :teacher:

Got our package vouchers in the mail today!! and our customized maps!!! They look really cool! I'll take pictures and post them soon!

I hit up Target's trial size aisle this afternoon and stocked up! :cool1: I also picked up a pack of glow in the dark sticks for the boys to play with in the parks.

Took Dash to the doctor to follow up on his fever he had last week, to make sure he didn't have a lingering secondary infection. Turns out he has strep! Go figure. The child never complained of a sore throat, never would have even thought to check for strep had his teacher not told us she'd had some confirmed cases in the class. So there ya go. Just goes to show you that strep can manifest in different ways. Such as fever, with a headache! :confused3

So he's gonna miss another day of school tomorrow, til he's been on antibiotics 24 hrs. So that's four days missed this semester. They are allowed 17 absences so Im not worried about the 5 days he'll miss for Disney! Whew.

We went ahead and let Dash open up his 'big' gift from us. We got him a PS3. I had made an agreement with him that if he would work really hard on his reading/sight words that would be his end goal/reward. And he's worked realllllly hard!! His reading has greatly improved. And he knows he's still gonna have to read EVERY day we're in Disney and that he can't slack off now, just because he knows all his First grade sight words.

He opened it and was completely blown away. We had told him we weren't doing any big gifts because of our Disney trip, but we found a great deal on the PS3 and it was really as much of a reward as it was a Christmas gift. So that's why it's from us and not :santa:. I didn't want him to open it in front of his cousins at our family's Christmas at my mom's. I'm not a huge fan of opening expensive gifts in front of other family's children, ya know?

We are so blessed and we know it! :cloud9:

Day 7 Itinerary :)

Monday, January 18th:
Sleep til normal wake up time
Light breakfast in room/Mara
MK fairly early
Catch any rides we missed/want to do again
FPs for BTMRR and Space Mtn for me
Lunch at 11:55am @ LTT
Back to hotel for rest
Back to MK for Wishes
Dinner at 8:55pm @ 'Ohana
Back to AKL
Start packing up
Bed

Must Do's:
Wishes!
Soak it in pixiedust:

Thoughts:
MLK Day- According to TGM Saturday is really the day that gets the most crowds from MLK weekend, so I'm optimistic that it won't be super crowded in MK on Monday. We are purposefully avoiding MK on Sunday, because the EMH hours were until 1am! :scared1: C R O W D E D! If the crowds are ridiculous and I think that we're gonna have a hard time getting out of the park and over to 'Ohana in time for our dinner ressie, and IF we managed to catch Wishes our first night, then our back up plan is leaving the park before Wishes --if we even go back into the park after afternoon break-- and watching Wishes from the beach at Poly! :lovestruc

We really enjoyed 'Ohana last year, as did MIL, so I'm glad it's our last dinner ressie!

Will be back with pics of all our trip stuff and Day 8-Departure Day Itinerary!

Awww thanks! Dash is feeling better. He really was feeling better Saturday. It was the weirdest case of strep I've ever seen. He must be one of those kids that isn't affected by it much. Unlike Jack-Jack who got Scarlet Fever from it last year. I never knew that Scarlet Fever was just strep with a rash until Jack-Jack got it. I also never knew that not everyone can get Scarlet Fever. You have to be allergic to the toxins that your body produces when you have strep, to break out in the Scarlet Fever rash. The rash is actually an allergic reaction to Strep! :confused3 Who knew! So we are watching Jack-Jack VERY closely now that his brother has had a confirmed case of strep. Don't wanna mess around and let him get Strep and not nip it in the bud quickly!

LL- Let me know if we overlap. A DIS meet would Rock!!!! I know we didn't overlap when I last checked your plans, on your last PTR, but haven't really thought to look again with your new PTR!

To make it easier on you, here's our plans-short version:
1/12 - arrive at AKL early afternoon, MK evening
1/13 - Epcot all day, DTD evening
1/14 - Epcot all day and evening with afternoon break at AKL
1/15 - DHS all day, evening at AKL
1/16 - AK day maybe, AKL evening
1/17 - Epcot all day, with afternoon break at AKL
1/18 - MK all day, with afternoon break at AKL, evening at Poly
1/19 - departure day, AKL til noon-ish

Mini-update:
And on a PTR note- Guess what I got in the email yesterday while waiting to take Dash into the doctor?

A PIN code!!! :lmao:

Seriously?!

Why do I always get them when I already have a trip planned, so I don't really need an incentive to take a trip, and while a general discount is going on that actually is better for us than a PIN and WHY do I get them to my email address but they are in my mom's name, who ISN'T going on the trip this time!?!

:rotfl2:

Good thing I didn't need it yeah?

For those that are curious, it was the 30/35/40% off for dates throughout most of 2010. The good news is, my mom, who it was 'addressed' to CAN use it! She and her best girlfriend are planning a trip in April/May so I'm hoping she can get some good out of it! :cheer2:

I'm getting things crossed off my list! :yay: I've gotten all the scanning done for my MIL's gift, mailed my SIL and BIL's gift, got my Disney 'area' cornered off so I can start setting trip stuff aside.

Dash will return to school tomorrow, then he has 2.5 days til Christmas Break. It'll be Christmas the following week, then bowl games and New Year's, more Bowl games, then return to school on January 5th! Dash'll have ONE week back at school before we leave!!! It will be here before we know it! I love planning trips in January because all the holiday activity in the weeks leading up to the trip, make these last countdown days go by so fast!

I'm about to update my spreadsheet for ADRs, crunch the numbers on the DDP yet again, and figure tip amounts if we decide to add DDP. We were planning on adding DDP the last week in December, to give us another CC billing cycle to pay it off and we may still do that. However, I just checked the 2010 DDP brochure and some of our restaurants still haven't confirmed their participation. I KNOW it can take a while for the negiotiations and that most of the restaurants will jump on board, but the late date is worrying me a little. So I need to decide if we'll still do the DDP if the restaurants we want don't all participate. I may wait to add the DDP til January 1, which should still be plenty of time to not interfere with our package, but give the DDP list a chance to finalize.

I am going right now to take pictures of all my loot and will upload them tonight!!!

Kidding. a) I'm not THAT stalker-ish. Honest. and b) I've never EVER never dyed my hair.

And now an update!!!

Change o plans!
I was reading on the Dining reviews boards and found out that the menu is changing for the LTT lunch with the character meal change over from CP. Some of you may be saying ... well DUH BUT in my defense I called and talked to someone back when I booked the reservation in October and was told the menu would not change, just the characters were back. THEY WERE WRONG! (I just said that in Ron White's voice if any of you were interested in knowing that)

I called WDW Dine back today after reading Dis-Yoda's review of LTT and lamentation about the menu changing for the next trip in Feb, and sure enough the meal will all be family style, very Thanksgiving-y. NO Celebration Salad and NO STICKEY TOFFEE PUDDING-Y CAKE-Y Dessert. :sad2: :scared1:

Considering that we were over our TS credits by 1 credit anyway.... it was an easy decision to cancel this one. I will jump online and cancel our lunch for Monday January 18th at LTT here in a bit. We'll probably eat lunch at CHH that day or sleep in and have a late breakfast. Cus the likelihood of us getting to MK early with MIL is slim to none anyway. Might as well sleep and take it easy on our last day. Course a lot of this depends on how much we covered on our first night in MK. If we did a lot then I won't be such a stress bucket about getting to the park early. We could always go in early and come back to get MIL around noon... or after early afternoon nap. Or something to that affect.

Departure Day 8 Itinerary-

Tuesday, January 19th:
Wake up normal time
Finish packing as much as possible
Walk downstairs
Breakfast ADR @ 8:50am at Boma
Return to room, pack up last minute stuff
Say bye to MIL
Catch ME around 10:30am I'm guessing.
Flight out of MCO at 1:20pm

Thoughts:
Another reason I'm soooooooooo happy to be staying at AKL. To be able to walk down to Boma buffet breakfast on your last day is great! :yay: Any other departure day there'd be no way we could get over there and back and get packed up and make our ME bus time of 10:30am. We may try to get down to Boma a little early and try to get in around 8:30am. This reservation is made for 3 adults 2 kids but MIL may not make it down in time, which is fine.

And that's it!!!! All our plans!!!! It's right around the corner!

So on to the where.....

I know y'all are all dying to know.

Stay tuned for the What in the World are we gonna EAT!!!! popcorn::

Gelly, I am loving your resort evolution... You just went from Value to Deluxe in one foul swoop!! Don't you love how we justify these things? Not to mention the SACRIFICES we make. I mean, you are going to be sharing a room and a bathroom with your MIL! You are either A. a saint, or B. extremely efficient in the bathroom (since your MIL, like mine, is NOT) or 3. a real animal lover to make such a sacrifice.

Seriously, though - that is going to be so AWESOME!!! Can't wait to hear how much your little dudes love that resort!! I have never even been there!:scared1:

Ta ta, fellow Austin-ite! Oh, and Gig 'Em!! (jk - you know I could care less)

I think St. Gelly has a nice ring to it, doncha think?

:lmao:

Seriously I am pretty much no muss no fuss when it comes to getting ready on vacation. So that does help! And MIL will wake up much earlier than we will, so she can get herself beautified. So that was part of the justification too.

Glad you found me!!!! :goodvibes and :welcome:

I can't wait either. It's gonna rock. I can't tell you how many times I've talked myself into and out of calling and upgrading to Savannah view. I keep reminding myself that we already made the jump up from Value AND that the price of upgrading to Savannah is half of our DDP cost fo the 3 that are old enough to eat. Someone really should tell Jack-Jack he can't eat this trip. :mickeybar

So I'm not gonna call and upgrade.

I

am

not!

Honest! :rolleyes1

But a girl can hope for a little pixiedust: right? So I'm crossing my fingers for one of those magical free upgrades. :woohoo:

That being said, I could have a view of a ditch and broom closet and we'd all be ecstatic just to be there!!!! I mean if you think about it, I'd be paying 300+ dollars for a view of a Giraffe's butt and a bunch of animal poo?? A ditch and broom closet sound pretty good in comparison if you think about it like that.

:rotfl: @ Gig'em!

Our poor puppy does look pretty pitiful doesn't he? Notice my Ikea shelves in the background. You might know where I picked those up from. Our old entertainment center is still sitting in the living room- its been a week. *sighs* Mr. I claims it's too heavy for him to move without a dolly. Does anyone else see the irony in that sentence? His name is MR. INCREDIBLE and he can't move an armoire?

Just saying.

Hopefully we'll be renting a dolly this weekend so he can get it out of my living room!!!!

Ho Ho Ho everyone! :santa:

I sat down last night and looked at the DDP more closely, cancelled LTT and figured up money for tips. As of right now, two restaurants that we have reservations for aren't on the DDP list. I'm hopeful they will get their contracts finalized in the next 15 days or so. So as of now, we're going to plan on adding the DDP in the first of January. If we have to pay OOP for all our meals, it'll be ok. On one hand we may end up spending more money, but on the other hand we'll have more flexibility in our ordering, will probably end up sharing more desserts instead of each having our own, ordering water instead of a soda, etc. I think it will work out in the wash. I'll continue to check the DDP list and make the final decision to call and add DDP right after New Year's.

I have all the meals worked out, we're using exactly the # of credits we're given with some snack credits left over for unplanned eating urges. I now have the amount I need for tips, though I don't think I'm going to do pre-determined tip envelopes. Just gonna make sure we have plenty of cash on us, in various of denominations. Because Mr. Incredible is in the restaurant business, we tend to tip well, however, we do tip based on service, not just the meal price. We RARELY ever tip below 15%. We understand all too well how the kitchen can influence a server's performance and that anyone can have a bad day. However if the service is really great, we want the option to bump up the tip and I won't have quite that flexibility with pre-tipped envelopes. :confused3 We're weird, I know!

I am heading out of town this weekend. Gonna do some shopping at the outlet malls  and see my best friend's baby for the first time finally!! He's nearly 4 wks old. I've tried to make it down there twice before now, it's only about an hour and half's drive. Had to cancel both times, so I'm determined to make it down before the kid is sitting up! :rotfl: Course the fact that I'll pass the largest outlet mall in Texas on the way, is just an added bonus! I'm bringing two of my nephews back with me tomorrow, so they can catch a ride with their other aunt to my parents house for Christmas break. Gotta love logistics! Thankfully most of us Dis'ers are pretty good at logistics. We have to be to make all these Disney plans work! :thumbsup2

Hope everyone has a great weekend!!! Christmas is right around the corner!!!! :cloud9:

Ok, so the last time I did the full on DDP (rather than the QS) tips were included. Even still, I just don't see how I could do the pre packaged tips.. Good for you!! That is the kind of activity that makes me want to hack off a limb and beat myself with it. I guess math was neevr my forte!! I do see the value in it though... DH and I NEVER carry cash so we are no good about controlling it when we have it! Our tip money would be gone in the first two days... A cookie here, little trinket there... besides, we never really know what we'll get at a restuarant until we're in the seat. We might want water, or Coke, or something a bit stronger!

Have fun at that outlet mall.. I"m already eyeing my calendar to choose a day when I can go....

Well, I had a nice long response and then the boards went down last night!

I'll sum it up at this - your plans are looking great! And, I couldn't do the pre-packaged tip thing either....we always decide after the meal what the tip should be, then charge it to the room, works slick, and that way we aren't carrying extra cash. Though, those tip envelopes from the DISigns board are very cute! :goodvibes

Thanks!! Got a new black bag! Love it! The coupon wasn't necessary. They were passing them out in bulk. Who knew?! BUT thank you so much forwarding it to me!
I drove back by on the way home from San Antonio on Saturday, thinking I'd run in and grab the matching ponytail scarf to tie on the bag... the doors were CLOSED because they were at capacity. There was a line waiting to get in, and they were manning the doors, letting them in as someone would leave. NUTHOUSE! So I came on home. Didn't need the scarf that badly!
Let me know what you think of the outlets in SM once you go!!

We never carry cash either!! BUT thanks to Brook, I just realized we can charge tips to the room!! DUH! Why didn't I think of that?!

Just checked the participating DDP list again and all the restaurants that were missing are on their now. So I'll be calling and adding DDP tomorrow! :cool1:

This'll be our first time using it. Here's hoping we like it!

On a sadder note, we had to put our 12 wk old Chihuahua puppy to sleep Christmas eve. My brother has a much bigger dog and we were all at my parents house for Christmas. Bella was out pottying and the bigger dog decided he could use her as a ragdoll. I blame myself, because I should have stayed outside with her while she pottied. Hard lesson to learn. It definitely put a damper on our Christmas. We had only had her for 5 wks but we were all in love with her already. She will be missed deeply. I am trying to keep my perspective about things, though it's hard. I KNOW I am blessed beyond measure and was so thankful that Jack-Jack was healthy this Christmas, with the memories of his Scarlet Fever from last Christmas still fresh in my mind. It was nice seeing how much more he appreciates gifts and opening presents now that he's so close to 2.

I can tell you that this Disney trip is a God-send more than ever. Knowing that I'll be in my laughing place in 17 short days is keeping my focus off of losing Bella mostly. Though I know I need to let the grief hit me, because if I don't, when we get back from vacation it'll hit even harder, the post-vacation blues!

There's not a lot of planning left to do, though I'll be sure to update as we start the packing process, and the weather forecast comes into play.

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas!

So I get this text from Mr. Incredible this morning...

"Ops meeting scheduled company wide for the 12th and 13th in Dallas. Got permission to only go the first day. "

:faint:

Ummm hello.... we LEAVE on the 12th. 10:20am on the 12th! So I'm freaking out. I mean, yes it's not as bad as cancelling the whole trip, and yes he could have to go both days and lose TWO days of vakay but still!!! They wait and plan this mandatory meeting NOW?!

I'm re-working the whole intinerary in my head, trying to figure out if I can switch his flight to leave a day late, if we'll all leave a day later. If the boys and I head down by ourselves, how am I going to handle both of them in the airport, etc. My mind is racing. I try calling Mr. I to get more details, he doesn't answer. I'm txting tell him to call me asap etc.

Finally, after about 10 txts it occurs to me that he has the WRONG dates!!!!!!!! Coulda killed him. Ops meeting is the 11th and 12th, so he'll have to drive to Dallas on Monday, and drive back that evening after the meeting. He won't have to stay the night Monday night and attend the second day of meetings, thank God. He'll be back in plenty of time Monday night to help pack up his stuff ( I try to have most of his stuff laid out and sorted, so his packing is minimal. He just likes his stuff packed his way and I like my stuff packed my way. :confused3 )

Crisis averted, though let me tell you I was ready to thortle him for scaring the poo out of me thinking that he was going to have to be at a meeting on Tuesday, the day we were supposed to be leaving for vacation!

There was a manager a few months ago, that had a vacation planned, well ahead of time, and then the company called one of these meetings and the manager chose his vakay over the meeting and they terminated him!!!! :scared1: So IF the ops meeting had been on the 12th, Mr. I would have had to have gone!

Checked the weather the last few days and I swear it's swinging by 10 degrees each day that I check! One day Sunday is showing a high of 75 the next day it's showing Sunday to be a high of 65. Definitely gonna have to wait til closer to the trip to get an "accurate" forecast. Oxymoron anyone? Unlike the Disers that live in the North, ( Brook! ) we can't pack our clothes and wear our winter clothes in the mean time. Our climate is about the same as Florida's so we'll be packing last minute regardless of the weather and just packing more layers if the weather forecast is showing cold-ish weather.

Still haven't called and added the DDP. Guess I need to do that tonight!! :cool1:

Hope everyone is getting geared up for a fabulous New Year's eve!! We keep it pretty boring around here. Just tv and family time. Mr. I will have to work that evening but he should be home well before midnight.

Here's our family pic from Christmas Eve night. I think Jack-Jack was trying to do Hook 'em horns with his fingers. One of my nephews was probably flashing it behind the camera to get him to look at them. LOL Let me know if y'all think this size is too small!! Still playing with photobucket and want to get it right before I start the TR!!

I've really been thinking alot about our time crunch on Monday, Jan 18th to get from MK after Wishes to our 8:55pm 'Ohana reservation. I recently read a TR that said that the resort loop took 30 mins! So if you factor in the great rush of crowds leaving the park, and the line at the monorail and then the loop time to get around to Poly... it's the middle stop right? .... the chances of us making our ADR are slim. And while I know I said that I had a back up plan to watch Wishes from the beach at Poly, and yes I do I love watching Wishes from the beach at Poly, BUT I'd rather watch the fireworks in person, under the castle for our last night.

I had checked for later times before and always got the little message about your party may be split, and I just wouldn't do that to MIL. And I realize that the likelihood of this happening is prolly slim, we could always pull up a chair, etc. I just never switched it.

Well, I just happened to think to try again and voila I got a 9:30pm dinner ressie without the little blurb about having to seat your party separately!

I'll cancel our 8:55pm ressie. This will give us 35 more mins to get over there, and if we check in early so be it. It'll only be 8:30 our body block times and we're all late eaters anyway. So BONUS! :yay:

Because we cancelled LTT for lunch, I have no clue what this day will entail. I know we have MK planned at some point our last day. Whether we get up early and hit MK, then return to AKL for a nap and then back to MK for Wishes and then Poly for Dinner, or we sleep in and hit MK later in the day remains to be seen. A lot of it depends on how tired we are by that time, how Jack-Jack has been doing... is he taking naps in his stroller, sleeping well in the room during our attempts at afternoon breaks, how early is MIL managing to get up.... :rolleyes1 etc

As long as I get to MK at some point on our last day, as long as I get to see Wishes.... please please no bad weather that day!! and as long as we get to finish our night off at 'Ohana capped off with their yummy bread puddin', I don't think I could ask for a better last day of vacation!

I did call and add DDP! So that's D O N E done! :cheer2: They had to do some finagaling and get a manager involved since the code I used... buy 4, get 3 free wasn't active anymore. But they got it done. $671 to add for the three of us and Jack-Jack will eat off of my plate most likely. I'm very anxious to see if we're really gonna come out ahead using the DDP. I know we'll have to do some out of pocket eating for adult bevs, a few choice appetizers (soup at Le Cellier, calamari at Tutto :woohoo:) and Jiko will be entirely OOP. So we'll see how it comes out in the wash, as my momma would say!!

Hope everyone has a fabulous day tomorrow!!

WOO HOO on getting the later 'Ohana ADR. I think that will be much better as far as time goes. :thumbsup2

Checked Disney's big 75% off sale at the Disney store online and then the Disney outlet. Scored two matching rain coats for the boys. The only sizes they had left were the two I needed so SCORE! :cool1: 9.99 a piece!

I also found another t-shirt for me for 7.99 and a Tink hoodie for 14.99!!

I also called ME and gave them our flight info. I swear I'd given it to a CM at some point along the way but I noticed it wasn't on our vouchers. So got that added and requested some more ME tags, since we're flying on Southwest and may actually check more than one bag per person. I really don't want to carry on any more than we have to. With all the increased security because of the terrorist attempt Christmas Day, I was starting to get a little concerned about what time our ME bus would leave on Tuesday, the 19th. Our flight leaves at 1:25pm so if ME leaves 3 hours before hand, which is the usual time, we'd have to be on the bus at 10:25am. Assuming they don't bump the ME times up on us with the heightened state of awareness change.

Our Boma breakfast ressie is for 8:45am and it was our only breakfast buffet ressie for the trip. I don't want to rush eating at Boma breakfast for the first time. <I really need a pouty lip smilie here>

I jumped on WDW .com and got on the dining reservation site and ta da we have a breakfast buffet ressie for Monday the 18th for 8:30am. Since we cancelled LTT and considering MIL will be with us, rope drop ambitions for MK are a little lofty, I though why not?

AND I didn't cancel the Boma ressie for Tues! :rolleyes1

Don't hate me!

If we love Boma breakfast buffet and if our ME time isn't til 10:30am and IF we get everything packed up in time, we'll try to make it to Boma breakfast on our last day too! If not, we'll just call and cancel and grab Mara breakfast instead which will give us much more flexibility!

I really need to quit tweaking things!

Three shirts... Too funny!! I knew I was a bad influence. :sad2: But if I have to be a bad influence somewhere than the Disboards isn't such a bad place to be one.
I was a bit surprised at the ease of my ADR tweaking, just two weeks out and on a holiday! Both ressies I tweaked were for MLK day itself. It gives me hope that maybe it's not gonna be nutso crowded. Last January we were there a week later, Jan 21-28 and it was crazy crowded... for January at least. 50 mins standby wait for BTMRR 90 for TSM and Soarin'. FPs sold out for TSM by 10am etc. Which I thought wasn't the way January was supposed to be. I spoke to a few CMs about it last year and they said it was unusually busy for that time of year, probably because of the 4/3 deal. :scared1: So when the 4/3 deal returned this year I thought well heck, if it's gonna be that crowded anyway, might as well go over MLK weekend, save an absence for Dash and get Jack-Jack a lapbaby ticket in one last time!

So yeah... the ADR tweaks are giving me hope. I just hope it's not false hope!

Oh and accuweather this morning has swung back around to sunny with highs in the 60s and lows in the 40s. So who knows!

Hope everyone has a great day!

I give it a 2 :thumbsup2 as well... at least the parts that Jack-Jack let me watch!!! :sad2: :lmao:

It was a good trial run. He made it sitting down at our seats until the food ran out, then he wanted down... TO FIND MORE FOOD! :rotfl2:

I caught him picking up God knows what off the floor, trying to put it in his mouth. I caught him thankfully but he was lookin' for more food!

I ended up watching the last hour as I pushed him up and down the side entrance aisles, or as I followed him as he pushed the stroller. Thank God I brought the stroller in.

I look forward to buying The Princess and The Frog on DVD so I can actually watch the whole thing! But I caught most of it and it was very very cute. Loved the New Orleans element. Great touch!

On the bright side, at least I know he'll sit through a 30 mins show with FOOD! :rotfl: That should get us through a few shows in Disney!

Okay, the imagery I have in my head of you dealing with Jack Jack in the theater makes me laugh. I'm sure I wouldn't have been laughing it was me.

I think it was a great movie, I really want to go see it a second time.

I'm laughing about it today.... yesterday, not so much! :rotfl:

Great movie! Came home and bought the soundtrack! :rolleyes1 With money I should be saving for Disney souvies! My justification is the soundtrack is a Disney souvie, a little early!

The weather is looking FABULOUS!!! Can't wait til we can look at a 7 day forecast and hope for more accuracy! Right now it's sunny with highs in the 60s and lows in 40s! PERFECT for us! Maybe not swimming weather, but since the pool at AKL is under refurb, that's not really a bad thing. We can use the pool at Kindani but I'm not getting on a bus in my bathing suit. NOT gonna happen! :rotfl2:

Trust me, y'all will thank me for this decision!

Hi Twinnie! *waves from her desk at work*

i've been checking in on your PTR when i get the chance - i LOVE your new shirts! The "Toys will be toys" one is the same as the one i got for one of my nephews for Christmas. i love the Sally one as well!

Yay for being able to switch your ADRs to times that will make it easier for you. You don't want to spend your whole vacation rushing around being stressed out about being late for a ressie. The way it looks now, you will be able to leisurely get from one place to the next and have time to admire the scenery on the way!

i'm so sorry again about Bella

i was also laughing imagining your Jack-Jack appeasing antics in the movie theatre. i've never gone to the movies with a very small child and methinks i might keep it that way! Hopefully the Disney shows will be able to keep him entertained (and if all else fails, you know food bribery works!)

i'm so excited for you that your trip is so soon!! i promise to check in here more often :goodvibes

Sare's back!!!

I've missed you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Though I know you have a really great reason to be off the Dis boards. Real world comes first.

If you lived in Texas... ahem... you would have totally been at that theater with me with the boys watching the movie and it wouldn't have been so bad!! I needed an extra pair of hands or three. Thankfully Dash is a seasoned movie goer and just sat in his seat, with his eyeballs glued to the screen the whole time and I just peeked up at him everytime I made it back down to the theater on my never ending up and down pushing of the stroller.

FOOD will work for bribery... but Jack-Jack doesn't seem to know when to quit. I don't wanna make the kid sick by stuffing him full of sweets and treats just to make it through all the Disney shows. I'll be selective about the times of day we try shows and which shows we attempt. And Mr. I or MIL may wait outside on some of them, with Jack-Jack. They aren't big show people anyway. So this might be a great opportunity for Dash and I to have some quality time ! :goodvibes

Glad you're back around!!!!

My wife and I read through your PTR last night. It was a nice Disney moment after a long drive from the Twin Cities to Kansas to see Dugette's grandpa.

We're heading out in a moment, but just wanted to say your PTR is very well-written: we were on the edge of our seats with all the twists and turns! From the magical upgrade to AKL to the elliptical return for the DDP: very suspenseful!

Sounds like your plans are great!

One quick question. I'm not familiar with TGM. What are the differences between his advice and the unofficial guide/touringplans.com?

We will be at Wishes on your last night, most likely. Maybe we'll spot you there!

Fun to read a PTR that overlaps with when we will be there! We are a little nervous about the possible crowds on MLK weekend (we were spoiled going in September last time and walking onto almost everything), but that's part of why we kept our Poly and WL days...so we can escape the crowds, if needed, and still be having a great time.

AKL sounds great. Definitely on our list of places we'd like to stay someday. We went to Boma on our last trip and LOVED it. I'm, at best, a mildly adventurous eater, but there was plenty that I really enjoyed. Still mentally toying with going back again this time.

As far as other food, we're looking forward to our 1st visit to LeCellier too! We went to Tutto Italia last trip and enjoyed it. Maybe not the best Italian food we've ever had, but it was on the free dining plan, so it was good! It will be interesting to see what your experience at San Angel Inn is like. DH would really like to have a meal in that environment, but we see such mixed reviews we haven't made an ADR this trip.

By the way, as a penny-pinching accountant, I really appreciate your creative Disney math! :teacher:

Thanks for the kudos on my fuzzy Disney math! I was pretty pleased with how I came up with paying for the trip. :goodvibes

It is neat reading plans of someone that will be there at the same time, isn't it?

We ate at Tutto and loved it last time and we've eaten at some pretty decent Italian food places, though granted not in Italy. I will say the item I ordered last year was icky... so maybe it's just what you order, as I guess would be the case with anywhere. I am hopeful that its as good as we remember, as this is Mr. Incredible's big birthday ta da! And I hate asking relatives to pay $25 a plate for food they think is bad. :guilty:

Thank you, thank you for passing on your favorable opinion of Boma! I'm a little nervous about that one too, but since it's just for the four of us, not as pressured to produce a great meal ressie... if that makes any sense.

San Angel Inn is a great place to eat for the ambience. Being from Texas, I just accept that the food isn't gonna be great Tex-Mex... which is what I'm used to as Mexican cuisine. Since I don't get down to Mexico often, I can't really compare. I haven't eaten at SAI in years, but imo, it's worth it if you like margaritas and a great atmosphere!

The possible crowds that weekend were another reason :rolleyes1 I wanted to upgrade to AKL. If we end up spending a lot of time at the resort, then it'll still feel like we're on vacation!! :thumbsup2

I'll hop over and read Dug's update soon!

:rotfl2: about you rather putting your head in a vice ! I do understand. I'm sure there will be plenty of times on this upcoming trip where I'll be ready to throw something at them. Should make for good TR fodder though!

We're doing the single digit dance today!!!

Oh yes we are!!!!

9 days baby!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And finally we're close enough to use weather.com's 10 day forecast. There's about a 10 degree split between their forecast for Jan 12th and accuweather.com's. :scared:

So... still really don't know what the weather is gonna be like. Anywhere from a high of 69 to 61 and a low of 55 to 41 for arrival day.

YIKES!

Looks like I'll be packing half the house. Not that I wouldn't be doing that anyway!

I've been trying to stay away from online shopping!!! There was a great discount at Vera....and I resisted. Which was HARD ! :rotfl: I didn't order a new memory card for my camera... yet. :rolleyes1

I am still waiting for our last Disneystore.com order to get in. I've got our suitcases out and we are sticking a few things in there that I don't want to get lost in the laundry between now and then. Still need to clothe us between now and then, but some of the cuter outfits we can do without, I'm packing away.

Mr. Incredible is off today! Poor guy. It's his first day off since Christmas. He's exhausted, so I'm trying to be gentle with the honey do requests. He is off again on Tuesday and that will be his last day off before vacation. :scared1:

He has to drive to Houston, not Dallas, for his ops meeting. I think he's gonna drive down a day early, so he's not leaving Austin at 5:30am to make the meeting. He should be home late Monday, Jan 11th, night sometime, but I'll be running around like a chicken with my head cut off getting everything done.

My mom and I talked and she was really starting to worry about keeping our Doxle puppy. To say he's hyper is an understatement and mom is young for her age, but she is still 67. And I have a hard time handling the puppy some days. So she generously offered to pay half of his boarding fee for our vet's facility. her.

We'll be dropping Jasper (the dog... in case you got confused) off at the vet's Tuesday morning, then driving to my sister's house who has generously offered to drive us to the airport. So no long term parking fees!! She'll be able to pick us up, upon return, as well. She'll keep our vehicle the whole week so she can put her car in the shop! Win Win situation for us all! :lovestruc her too!

We are getting down to serious countdown business around here! Jack-Jack is clueless of course, but Dash is asking daily how much longer, how many days he'll have to go back to school before we are leaving etc. We are reading, reading, reading and already working on next week's spelling words.

I opened a Touringplans account last night, the free kind, and started on their free planning journal thingie. I'll get that finished and see if it's worth printing it, or if I'm just gonna use it to remind me of things for my own lists!!

Hope everyone is having a fabulous weekend and a wonderful 2010 so far!! The new 2010 Disney logo is too cute!!! Can't wait!!!

Just got a new Walt Disney Travel Company packet in, reflecting our adding DDP. They sent it to us 2 day air, since we added it so late. Thought that was nice of them! :goodvibes

We now have official proof that we are on the DDP!

I went ahead and called the front desk of the AKL, since they have our reservation now. They don't download them until 10 days prior to arrival. I changed our room request from 'close to the lobby' to 'Ostrich Trail'. I mainly wanted to talk to the front desk person to make sure that there were 'standard view' rooms in the Ostrich trail, and there are but of course they couldn't tell me how many or which ones, etc. I just wanted to try to get close to the main area without having a view of the walkway to the transportation area. Not too keen on the noise potential, having a room facing the bus depot! Hopefully this request will work out. It seems away from things enough, while still being close to the lobby's gorgeousness and Mara, Boma etc.

I also went ahead and did online check-in!!! :scared: Little nervous about how this will affect our room request, but figure the rooms are assigned early enough I hope it won't matter what way you check-in. So that's done! It was painless and I have the printed confirmation of check-in just in case! Will be interesting to see how different the process is with having checked in online!

Registered the new photopass card we got in the latest packet. :thumbsup2

Starting a packing list spreadsheet!! FUN! :teeth:

Well, we're officially back in the swing of school. Did not want to get up these last two mornings! But Dash was happy to see his friends, albeit reluctant to do homework again.

We are expecting a cold front tonight that's gonna bring us the lowest temps we've had in 14 years! A low of 20!!!! :lmao: I'm sure all you Northerners are laughing at that, but that's COLD for us.

So far the Austin weather forecast for our departure day is highs in the 50, lows in the 30s with a morning shower. Nothing that should affect our flight! :thumbsup2 Here's hoping it stays that way!

The weather in Orlando is still all over the map. Right now the consensus seems to be highs in the 60s lows in the 40s with some showers some mornings, mostly to partly cloudy most days! I'll be glad to check a local Orlando news station's weather report here in a few days to get their opinion too!

We made a run to Wally World yesterday. It was Mr. Incredible's last day off before we leave! Poor guy.

I grabbed some color wonder packs, one for each boy, Disney themed of course, and then some blank color wonder paper because Jack-Jack is more into doodling lately. I also found Dash a composition notebook that has primary paper in it--lines at the bottom and an area to draw up top-- so he's all set for his travel journal. I thought it would be neat to use this journal for future trips/occasions, and get him in the habit of putting some of his thoughts down so he can do TR's when he grows up! :rolleyes1 :lmao:

We grabbed plenty of NON STICKY snacks for the plane with enough leftover to take back to the room, socks for the boys -- I can never find socks in this house! --, a pack of four travel packs of wet wipes -- I tried the refill method last year and kept running out-- and as we were checking out I grabbed two Disney flashlights off the impulse area. :sad2: Shame on me but they were tooooo cute and only 2.88 a piece! They have different lenses you can change out to make shadows of Mickey Mouse or whatever, and Jack-Jack is really into flash lights lately! They'll be cheaper 'light up' toys than we could purchase at Disney and with the glow sticks I already picked up, we should be good to go for night time entertainment for the kiddos.

The laundry basket of Disney destined clothes is filling up fast. I plan on putting the suitcase up on the dining room table this weekend, and dragging out the other ones. The spreadsheet is mostly done. Mr. I is gonna look at it and list things for himself so I can try to pack him as much as I can. The Touringplans free travel journal didn't really excite me too much, seemed almost info overkill.

I have all our documents set aside. I'll print airline confirmations after we check in 24 hrs in advance! Not paying the 10 bucks to check in earlier with Southwest! Last trip I had this elaborate folder set up with all our paperwork in it and it took me forever to just sort through the folder. Not gonna do that this time. All in one place, maybe a gallon size zip lock bag, and in the front of my bag. Easy access. After departure and check in, you don't really need it again until the flight home, anyway. I'll lock Jack-Jack's birth certificate in the safe!

6 days!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! In one week we will be making our way from Future World Rides to check in at for our very FIRST Le Cellier ressie at 1:30pm!

Well I was all organized and ready to go.....

:lmao:

If I don't laugh about this, I'm gonna cry!

So my MIL calls this afternoon. Turns out BIL has a last minute meeting in Orlando Friday, the 15th --the day BIL and SIL were scheduled to arrive. Which means they are going to drive down Thursday instead of Friday, and are going to stay an extra night. GREAT! An extra day with them.... but wait....

They have to go home a day early now, because BIL now has to work on Monday. Um ok.... :confused3 So they are now returning home Sunday, early.

There goes Tutto Italia, for all 7 of us on Sunday. :sad2:

But wait! There's more!

MIL has decided that since BIL and SIL are going home Sunday, that MIL needs to come down Friday instead of Saturday, or else we won't all have time together. Which I understand, truly. It would stink for us all to be there, but only have 2 hours total with us all there at the same time.

And thank GOD she decided not to add another night, but to just shift her stay up a day. On one hand I'm thankful that I'm still looking at just 3 nights of extreme family togetherness, instead of 4. BUT on the other hand, now we're talking Friday plans, Saturday plans, Sunday plans and Monday plans have to be re-worked.

Now, instead of us all doing Epcot on Sunday we have to all do something on Saturday. Which Saturday was our date night... so there goes that.

Friday instead of all day in DHS, now we have to leave early to meet MIL at the hotel to help get her checked in and unloaded.

:scared1: :scared1: :scared1:

I was proud of myself. I didn't pitch a tizzy. Externally.

This is what I worked out.....

I called my SIL and asked her if they had their heart set on going into a park or if they would be content just hanging at the hotels, theirs and ours, and going to DTD. She said that would be fine. They were really just coming down to see us.... so this made it much easier to switch it all around. I really wanted to do a birthday dinner with all 7 of us, still. Even if it would be a day earlier. By moving said dinner to a resort restaurant, we saved BIL and SIL having to buy a park ticket. I immediately went to the restaurants at AKL to make things easier on everyone. Jiko or Boma were our choices. Sanaa I thought would be too spicey for everyone. Jiko would be awesome for a birthday dinner, but I hesitated to ask them to spend that much money and also I didn't really relish the idea of taking the boys to Jiko. So I decided to try to switch our Jiko and Boma nights. I was crossing my fingers and saying prayers when I jumped on Dining reservations.

And I got it done!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

Re-worked plans:

Friday- DHS early, Mama Melrose lunch still, leave around 4pm to meet MIL, Jiko date night MOVED to 8:40pm Friday night instead of Saturday. WHEW!!! Possibly meet up with SIL and BIL at some point if they aren't crashing from their near overnight drive Thursday night.

Saturday- DHS return in the am if we didn't cover it all Friday, leave MIL, SIL and BIL sleeping in at the hotel.
Meet early afternoon at AKL, bus over to DTD. Spend afternoon there, light lunch at WPE.
Boma reservation for all 7 of us at 8:10pm to celebrate Mr. I's birthday.

Sunday- Epcot still with just MIL instead of all of us. Still keeping Tutto Italia ressie for Sunday night, but moved it to party of 5 instead of 7, and that pushed it to 7:50pm.

Monday- Boma breakfast still for the 5 of us. See MIL off, hit MK for a few hours, return for afternoon break. MK again for Spectro and Wishes. Got new
'Ohana ressie for 4 instead of 5 at 9:40pm instead of 9:30pm. :thumbsup2

Tuesday - Boma breakfast buffet for 4, if time allows, ME to airport around 10:30am

Holy DISNEYFREAK Batman, I can't believe I pulled that off and in about 30 mins. I have so many ADRs right now my brain is spinning. I'm going to get them all straightened out and cancel the ones we won't need ASAP. But I wasn't about to cancel a ressie before I replaced it. If we had to keep a ressie and tell them our party didn't show and it was only 4 instead of 5 or 7 then so be it!

I think I got it all worked out. What a wrench! It could be worse.... I think. :rotfl: No really, it could have been worse.... maybe not from a logistics standpoint, but BIL's meeting could have been in North Carolina on the same day and they wouldn't have been able to join us at all. So, despite my internal freakout at all the re-working I had to do, SIX DAYS before our trip, I'd much rather do this than not get to see them. :goodvibes

Can I just say :yay: for last minute ADR availabilty!!!!!!!! FYI I actually was able to get a new Le Cellier reservation in one of my attempts to make this all work. I let it go, but was SHOCKED that I could get one so close to our trip. It was for lunch.... but there was one!

And FYI-- SIL was able to add an extra night at Coronado Springs and was told she would be able to keep the same room. I'm sooooooooo hopeful that this means the crowds won't be too bad!! :woohoo:

I'll try to post our new plans in their entirety once I know what they are, again. :lmao:

You are a better woman than I - I think I may have lost it! Good for you staying calm (even if it was only externally :thumbsup2 ) and getting everything re-worked.

I also think it's a good sign that you were able to book ADRs this late, hopefully it means crowds will be light!

Holy Freakout Batman!

I wanted to throw a hissy. Considering I got this call just after returning from spending 300$ unbudgeted dollars on two new tires for our car. :scared1: Yeah.... wasn't the best timing. But if you'll remember Mr. Incredible nearly had an issue with a mandatory meeting at the beginning of our trip, so I just as easily could have been redoing everything because of a snag on our end. And honestly, I was just glad they are still trying to come down. It would have been easier on them to just say sorry and have put BIL on a plane and SIL stay home.

You are a better woman than I - I think I may have lost it! Good for you staying calm (even if it was only externally :thumbsup2 ) and getting everything re-worked.

LOL See above. I definitely was close to losing it! And thanks for the kudos. The thing that irks me the most I think is they have no idea how fortunate we were that it all worked out to switch everything 6 days from leaving. AND because I was able to switch it all, they now won't believe for future trips that booking things early is important because I was able to pull it off!!! I need a growling smilie here! LOL

I sooooooooooooooo hope it's a good sign that the crowds will be light. MLK weekend worries me a little!!

Soonergirl- how cold is it up there???? Are you gonna watch the game tomorrow night?? You're not pulling for Bama are you?! :rotfl2:

Mini-update:

When we got home from our tire buying, we had a package from Disney Store. We got the boys raincoats in and my hoodie and tshirt! The hoodie's cute, not embroidered or anything fancy but cute nonetheless! :woohoo: Maybe it'll hold up better than the white one!

The boys raincoats fit perfectly but they are more what I would call a wind breaker than a rain slick kind of material. Hopefully they'll work and hopefully the forecast will stay just 'few showers' and not 'rain'.

I also got our additional ME tags in so we can each check 2 suitcases straight through to AKL! :thumbsup2 :worship: Southwest no baggage fee policy! Looking at that packing list, we're gonna need all the luggage we can take. I just have to remember we still have to get it into and out of the airport.

Doing more laundry and getting more piles of stuff set aside!!!

I had made index cards for each day with park hours, ADR #'s etc. I'll have to do a new set tomorrow with all the changes to ADRs I just made. My inbox was lit up with new ADR confirmations. I think I made 6 ADRs in about 20 mins. :lmao: Thank goodness for online reservations. I would have HATED to do all that on the phone with someone!!!

I have organized all the confirmations into keep and cancel lists and will be canceling online shortly!

Getting ready for our big temp drop tonight! :hyper: So excited!

All caught up now! Six days! :dance3:

Wowsers on the wrench!!! :scared1: You handled it like a pro though. Your plans are looking great!! Now, no more freak-out stuff is allowed to happen for you on this trip!

I completely missed the terrorist threat on Christmas Day. My FIL caught it on the news at AKV, but Henry was busy with something so I only half heard what he was talking about...I forgot about it until you mentioned it here! I gotta Google it....anyway, as far as ME buses-ours was still the same on the 1st, 3 hours in advance of your flight.

Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!! :worship: I would have never THOUGHT to just charge the gratuity back to the room! :yay:

Glad that bit helped you! :goodvibes I love not having cash in the parks, one less thing to worry about loosing. You have enough of that when you have a 2 year old! ;)

I am VERY SORRY to read about your dog. That is heartbreaking...:hug::hug:

:welcome: home Brook!!!! Glad to see you back around here. It was so fun following your trip on Facebook. Really lookin' forward to your TR on here, may have to use the blackberry to check Dis from Disney. Wouldn't want to have withdrawls.

Thanks for letting me know that the ME departure times are still 3 hrs. I just read somewhere on the Dis that Southwest's check in lines were an hour wait! HOLY FREE BAGGAGE Batman! That's nuts. Can we say curbside check in?

CRAZY!

Tell me about having enough to worry about with a 2 yr old.... GOODness he's acting 2 already and he's not officially there yet. His new word.... MINE! I knew it was coming... but now that he's got it, he's intent on mastering it by using it ALL THE TIME! :lmao: Should make for a fun and memorable trip to Disney.

Thank you, truly, for your condolences about our little Bella. It was rough... and I hated that I put a damper on everyone's Christmas. My brother and sister in law were understandably upset because it was there dog that hurt her... my sister who isn't a dog lover at all was upset, my mom, Dash. It was hard. Thank goodness I had this trip to continuing planning. And thanks to my lovely in-law's I had more plans yet to make apparently. :rotfl:

It's stinkin cold!! 11 degrees this morning with a 20-30 mph north wind - burrrrr.

I will be watching the game tonight, I love college football! About who I'll be rooting for.........

Roll Tide!!!! :rolleyes1

Just kidding, I really won't know until I start watching the game and see which way my cheers lead me. :lmao: The real funny part is that years ago I wouldn't have thought twice about it - Texas should lose every game they play, period. But the longer we are in the same conference the less I dislike them. It also doesn't help that Colt McCoy is such a likable kid - it was much easier to hate Texas when Chris Sims was your quarterback!

An hour in security lines! Ick! We did Southwest to NOLA (which you may recall my comments about on FB...:rolleyes1) and the lines weren't too bad at all. Maybe 15 minutes or so.

I also heard Minneapolis airport had a BOMB THREAT on January 5, just a few hours before we landed. We landed at the smaller airport, so it didn't affect us, but the ENTIRE airport was shut down!!

Ah, "mine". Such a fun word. :headache:

Wow, crazy changes in your plans! Sounds like you did a great job of re-working it, though. And I think Boma will be a good birthday meal for a group...everyone can get whatever food they want. And as many yummy birthday desserts as they want :thumbsup2

I am also encouraged that you were able to change ADRs so close in. Hopefully, the crowds will be reasonable for our trips!

So, Jack-Jack likes the word "mine" now, huh? You should get some video or pictures of him in front of the "mine, mine, mine" birds at The Seas w/Nemo...that would be cute. Although it might encourage him...

Hope there are no more last-minute wrenches for you! It's getting close now! :woohoo:

From what I heard, it was not a bomb threat, it was that an explosives-sniffing dog found a piece of suspicious luggage. Turned out to be nothing of concern, but they did shut down the airport for awhile as a precaution. Glad you made it back without having to deal with that!

Thank you for rooting for my Horns. :goodvibes Such a heartbreaking game. I remember thinking when Bradford got hurt how much that must stink for him and the Sooner fans, coming back after a Heisman to try for a championship and then get injured. :sad2:

I was prepared for us to lose against Alabama but not like that. Poor Colt. They said, in the locker room, he was trying to throw a 7 yrd pass to his Dad and couldn't, and he kept trying, over and over, making his Dad give him the ball again and again to try to complete that pass. Heartbreaking really. He wasn't in any pain, just couldn't feel his arm. Limp noodle. You could tell he was devastated in his post-interview but he just kept giving God the Glory and congratulating Alabama on their win. Really classy kid. He'll be missed by this Texas fan at least.

I felt bad for Gilbert too, I mean seriously.... true freshman all the sudden thrown into the biggest game possible and he's not warmed up, wasn't mentally prepared and is under this HUGE spotlight. Not to mention, he had huge shoes to fill. Not that Colt was the whole team but he was our passing AND running game.

Oh, and fyi I didn't root for the horns when Sims was there and that's when I was a student. :rotfl2: Couldn't stand him. I really got into college football and the Longhorns the most when Vince took over.

Ok... I'll shut up about my Longhorn obsession. :rotfl:

Holy carp that's cold! We got down in the 10s for the first time in I don't know how long. My house is not made for winter weather people! Glass with no curtains or insulation = COLD!

I don't think the security lines were an hour long, it was the baggage check! How nuts is that?! So if we can check our luggage curbside, we will! Especially at ME drop off since you get dropped off a level below. We did it last year because of how much stuff we had, and I know one of our suitcases was over 50 lbs and the curbside guy just flagged it as Heavy and said next time bring an extra suitcase. Didn't charge us for the over the weight limit fee. Basically paid for his tip.

I read about your MCO to Nola flight issues. Whoops! Hope it wasn't too bad. Can't wait to READ ABOUT IT IN YOUR TR! :rolleyes1 :lmao:

Mine.... oh mine. Lovely that. I'm just so happy he's talking he could probably be saying wordy derds and I'd be happy. He's taking his sweet time, always saying just enough to be ahead of a language delay, technically. The ped isn't concerned, he's doing everything else he's supposed to be. He just doesn't use a whole lot of real words yet. So anything he says is a :thumbsup2 in my book.

I may regret just saying that. :rotfl:

Seriously though... totally understand the TR thing. Take your time! Lord knows I have no room to talk, Miss-Didn't-Finish-Her-First-TR-for-Nearly-a- Year! :rolleyes1

Thanks! :goodvibes It was a mad dash of ADR switching and trying to figure out the easiest way to tweak our plans, but I'm glad I got it done.

Great idea about that picture!!!! :rotfl2: I'll so have to do that!

I'm super encouraged by the changing of the ADRs. I just switching another one last night.... I know I know... I need to leave it alone. But with MIL leaving on Monday instead of Tuesday, our breakfast ressie at Boma was way too early... there's no way we could get down to the restaurant by 8:30am on a non-park morning while she's trying to get packed up. So I switched it to 10:00am and they had availablity. WOOT!

3 days!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

:dance3: :yay: :woohoo:  :cool1: :cheer2:

This is the hard part for me. The hurry up and wait part. The we're so close we can taste it so why am I not on the freakin' plane yet, part?

:lmao:

Although, there is a small part of me that's sad to see the trip actually get here. Sounds crazy I guess. But I love having a trip to plan and to look forward to. When it gets here, I'm super excited and so ready but there is a small part of me that's sad to see the trip start, cus that means the planning part is over and that means the trip will soon be over too.

Am I crazy?

Don't answer that.

I've got the suitcase up on the dining room table now, which is an upgrade from on the floor. :lmao: It's acutally open now and I'm piling things in it. Now obviously we're gonna need more than one suitcase, this is just the one I pulled out to hold all the goodies I didn't want to lose between the time they arrived and the time we started packing.

I guess it's official then.... we have started packing!

Mr. I is leaving Sunday afternoon for Houston. He should be back by 10pm Monday night I'm hoping. We have to do laundry-- most of the stuff he's taking to Houston he'll need for Disney-- and pack him once he gets home Monday night. My goal is to have the rest of us packed, minus whatever items we need the next morning, so that we can focus on getting Mr. I packed Monday evening. We won't have time for a mad dash the next morning. We'll need to be up and ready in time to take our doxle to the vet/broaders by 7am. My sister is driving here to pick us up. Thankfully we worked out a way to switch the cars around the night before so it works out for her to come here instead of us picking her up. We live much closer to the airport than she does, and it would mean the difference in easy peasy toll roads vs. roads with morning rush hour traffic. :scared1: No thank you!

Gonna get new index cards done today for each days hours, reservations #'s etc. I think we've decided to use the DDP for Jiko afterall, which means another reservation will have to bite the dust and one will have to be paid for OOP -- most likely Boma breakfast. I feel like we're probably going to cancel a ressie last minute. We did last year. We were too tired, or wanted to do somewhere else or timing wasn't gonna work out. So I'm probably not going to cancel any ressie now. Just wait and see what naturally gets weeded out. And Yes I will cancel the ressie once I know we aren't going to make it.

We're really trying to spend the least amount of money OOP as possible. Trying to stay on budget--which is the whole reason we did DDP, to know exactly how much we'd be spending on food. We'll have a souvie budget and take cash for tips. We decided not to put a credit card on the room for charges. Too many risks considering it would be our debit card on the room and not an actual credit card.

Trying to get the house clean before we go. I hate coming home from a nice hotel with housekeeping to a mess at home. Just makes the reality of vacation being over, that much worse. Plus we'll probably host a small birthday party for the boys, family only, the Wednesday after we return. It'll be nice for the house to be clean for the party so I won't have to do anything but unpack and :laundy:

I may post some pics of the pile o stuff here in a bit and a few more as the packing process continues.

Hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend!

I think I have lost my ever lovin' mind.

Guess who just upgraded from regular DDP to Deluxe DDP 3 days before her vacation starts?

C'mon people... this isn't hard to figure out....

:rolleyes1

Yes, that's right. Me.

Mr. Incredible and I were talking and we really wanted to not have to spend a lot of OOP money during our trip. And you're wondering.... what's the difference in OOP money on our trip vs. an extra $500 added before our trip?

We talked about it I guess last Thursday and Mr. I popped off about upgrading and I blew him off but the more I looked at how many ressies we were gonna have to cancel and the more I looked at the number of ressies we were gonna have to pay OOP, or at least the items at each restaurant we were gonna be paying OOP for, or the more I watched my near 2 year old out eat his 6 year old brother!!! And he's not even on the plan at all, well it added up fast.

So we'd rather have an additional 45 days to pay for the Deluxe dining then pay a bunch of money OOP while we're there. Last time we went we had X number of dollars budgeted for food and we spent X times 2! I'd rather KNOW how much we're gonna spend then pay for DDP and then pay 2x's what we think we're gonna spend OOP.

Plus Mom'll get more credit toward a free airline ticket for her upcoming trip in May.

More fuzzy Disney math! Don't ya just love it!!!

So now............... THREE days before arrival I get to make more ADRs and figure out what I'm gonna do with all those credits. I realize we''ll probably have credits left over. But I bet we use most of them.

Will post what dining changes come from the GREAT LAST MINUTE DELUXE UPGRADE HEARD ROUND THE DIS!

Thanks!!

We really aren't adding that many more ADRs. We really don't want to be restricted to times 3 meals a day and hopping all around the world. We really added it for more total credits and to have more food each meal to help feed Jack-Jack. Disney really needs a plan between regular and Deluxe, cus that's what we needed!! 2 QS and 1TS credit a day would have been perfect. :thumbsup2

I feel bad not utilizing every single credit as a TS, the better value. BUT! I don't want to spend the whole vacation in a sit down restaurant.

We are taking advantage of the extra credits to use them at Jiko, and are adding a few more Boma breakfast buffets, since Jack-Jack can eat off the buffet and really the buffet is gonna have the same exact food at a Mara kid's meal would.

The mugs'll be nice, too!

Mr. I and I both like the menu at CG, Citrico's and Flying Fish but are hesitant to bring the boys to a signature meal. And I'm not about to ask my MIL to come down longer just so we can go out on another date. :lmao:

I can't believe I did it either. I'm gonna kick myself if the receipts end up totalling 100s of dollars less than DxDDP cost! Here's hoping it works out!!

:goodvibes Last minute change QUEENS, we are! Boma breakfast is scheduled for two days and Mr. Incredible says we may try to wing it a few mornings. I mean really, a credit gets me Boma breakfast or Mara breakfast... either one. Kinda hard to pass on Boma.

That being said I don't want to eat there so much it loses it's special-ness, ya know?

Should be interesting to see how it all ends up, credit wise!

Wow, it's almost time for you to go! :yay:

Looks like the weather will be getting progressively warmer throughout your stay, from what I'm seeing. Yea for 70's!

Wow, the Deluxe DP...so much food, I hear. You know, if you can't eat it all, feel free to have entire meals put in doggy bags your last few days and drop them strategically throughout the parks for us to find ;):rotfl:

For what it's worth, if you find yourself trying to use up TS credits on 2-credit meals, we ate at CG last trip and LOVED it. I don't know what it would be like taking kids there, but the food and service were awesome. And the view of the fireworks was neat too.

Good luck with all the last-minute stuff and enjoy your trip!

In case I don't get back here before you leave....HAVE A MAGICAL TRIP!!! :yay::yay:

Thanks!!!

I'll be sure to ask about insulated doggy bags so I can leave you guys some treats around the world! :lmao: Really though, Jack-Jack is our Mikey. He'll eat anything. I swear at 2 he out eats his brother. We have to watch him! So I'm sure we'll find a place for most of the food. And I wouldn't mind having some snack credits left to stock up on stuff the last day! :thumbsup2

Cali Grill sounds awesome. So tempting. We are going to leave some of our spots open to wing it! :scared1: I know, I know. But we feel that we have enough ADRs to ensure that we get to eat where we want that we can just try luck of the draw a few times too. If we can walk into let's say Coral Reef, great! If not, we'll toodle over to Sunshine Seasons. Should be fun!

You guys have a great trip too!!!! If you see us somewhere -- since our pics are posted -- be sure to holler! :goodvibes

Thank you Brook!!! I'll be updating on Facebook some but not a whole lot! And I may just be checking the Dis from my phone some nights. Especially if everyone else is asleep and I can't sleep cus I'm too excited!! :hyper:

Thanks for the second on CG too!! A lot of it's gonna depend on how our credits are looking toward the end of the trip.

Soonergirl and Brook - I asked Mr. I about the dinner shows and he said no. :sad2: He's not really a dinner show kinda guy. I may be able to talk him into them for a future trip but not this one. Oh well! I'll still be in Disney!! :cheer2:

Alright all you fabulous Disers....

we are PACKED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mostly.

:rotfl:

There's one load of things in the dryer and one small load in the washer and we'll be done. 4 suitcases total - 1 for the boys, 1 for me, 1 for Mr. I and 1 for my pillows and noise machine (and to catch any goodies that might try to stow their way back to our house). :thumbsup2

We have two carry-on's - both backpacks. Dash'll be carrying one. It has Color Wonder coloring books, snacks, his journal, his homework, wet wipes, crayons, an empty sippy cup, and some cars and army men for the plane!

Mr. I will be carrying another backpack. This one contains a throw for the stroller, an extra hoodie for me, fleece for Mr. I, change of clothes for Jack-Jack, gloves and mittens, extra diapers. Basically everything we'll need for the cold temps in MK tomorrow night. Didn't want to get too hot on the plane, or have to carry too many extra layers.

I have my park bag packed. I am leaving my purse at home! I know, the shock of it all.

I transferred my wallet over to the park bag, as well as my camera, cell phone, cell phone and camera charger, Ipod and earbuds, travel jounral, pens, diapers, wet wipes, sanitizing wipes, ME vouchers, Jack-Jack's birth certificate, my handy dandy index card for the day with our confirmation #s on it, invoice of proof of paid in full balance at AKL, package booklet, and the disposable placemats for Jack-Jack.

Whew! I was impressed with that little bag. I knew I liked it but was a little worried about how much I could truly get in there. That bag freakin' rocks! I was amazed! I'll rearrange some thing into the safe at the hotel, and fit more of Jack-Jack's things in there for the park but it should work great!

I do have the brown Pottery Barn Kids backpack packed flat in one of the suitcases, just in case.

We're all so excited. The boys were playing around tonight, laughing and running. The anticipation of the magic is palpable. Even though I'm quite sure Jack-Jack is clueless about the trip itself, he knows something is up. We've been talking about going bye-bye on an airplane. Whether or not he gets it, I don't know. But he's excited.

On an unrelated note, Dash's teacher called me this morning at 10am. I just knew something was wrong. Turns out she was calling to give me the results of his reading level testing. She had gone ahead and tested him before we left, and was going to tell me if it was good news and not tell me if it was bad news. I thought that was really sweet of her. So she broke protocal by calling me during class time to let me know he made an 96% on level 12. I know that probably doesn't mean a whole lot to anyone, but....

Dash has had a hard time with reading. He didn't go to pre-k and everytime I would try to work with him, he resisted. I didn't want to create a negative association with learning, so I didn't push as hard as I probably should have.

He ended kindergarten on a reading level 2 and minimum for the end of K is a level 3. So he's been put into reading intervention, something we're all for. The more time reading, the better! :thumbsup2

When he started the first grade, he tested out a level 3, so he came up a level over the summer. I was told that he had to be at a level 16 by the end of the year or they would seriously consider retention. I freaked.... Mainly because Dash is a sensitive boy and he would know what it meant. And he's already the tallest kid in his class. He would stick out like a sore thumb if he had to repeat 1st grade. He's not behind in any other areas, so I was really hoping we could get his reading where it needed to be.

His teacher knew how hard we'd been working, and how concerned I was about this. There could not have been a better magic moment to start our vacation off right then her calling me to let me know how well he did on his reading. The levels are even numbered now, so he only has to progress 2 more levels to meet end of the year requirements!!!! We're hopeful that he'll actually surpass that minimum.

Let me tell you, this momma is on :cloud9:!

So boy do we have a whole lot to celebrate!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you all for following me on my pre trip planning adventures. It's been a lot of fun doing this PTR. I may be able to post a bit from WDW if my phone will cooperate!

Otherwise, I will see you guys on the TR side of the Disboards!

We fly out in 10 hours!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We're baccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccck!!!!!!

We had a fabulous time, seriously. One of the best trips I've ever had to WDW. Will be starting the TR soon.

Tomorrow is Dash and Jack-Jack's official birthday. Having a small family get together with.... cupcakes!!! You'd think they'd be tired of cupcakes after all the birthday celebrating we just did.

Hope everyone has had a wonderful week. See you all on the TR boards!

Oh my gosh!! After I read about your elliptical machine episode on my PTR, I went and found your TR from last year and your PTR here and read EVERYTHING.:thumbsup2

Your are hysterical!! I particularly loved the "You're not gonna be a momma anytime soon" anecdote. Dash is just like my kiddies...here it's called "investigatory research" and that's so awesome that he got the gma's all involved and everything. Too funny!!:lmao:

Anyway, I just HAD to let you know how much I've enjoyed reading all your stuff and I can't WAIT for the TR for this latest trip. I want ALL the juicy details about AKL and the days where it was just the four of you.

Did you actually get to see Wishes this time? Did you get on Soarin'? What about all your other missed opportunities from last time? Any more embarrassing moments or did you have more than your fair share last time. I NEED TO KNOW!!

Oh, BTW...I think your arsty fartsy photos are really good. I really liked your fav and I think framing it and putting it up in the office is a great idea.

Waiting impatiently for the TR to begin!!

Okay then....stalker out!! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
