I am thinking of taking my laptop to VWL this time and wonder if anyone has experienced this.

I have AOL so I pressume all I need is a local dial up number to connect. If I make local calls from the room ( I think I seen a connection on the side of the phone for laptops or is it down beside the phone socket .... ) does this cost anything, as in the past I have been very wary of using hotel phones !

many thanks

David

All WDW resorts do have dataports on the room phones.

Make sure you have a local dialup number. The charge per call is .35 for DVC members (while staying at a DVC resort on points) and .75 for others.

You should also verify that the number is local- some nearby numbers are actually long distance. You can check with the list of local #'s in the phone book or call the WDW operator to verify.

Enjoy!

I have AOL and confirmed with the OKW & BWV operators that all numbers labeled as Orlando are local (do not use Kissimmee). But confirm when you arrive in case they have changed numbers.

When you do your setup, you have to include the local dialout access number (9) and the area code (407). I have 407-587-0072 as my primary #.

Does anyone know how they charge for (800) numbers? I can use an account that has a (500) number (similar to an (800) number) and am curious if this number is treated like a local call.

If I remember correctly, 800 numbers are not charged the 35 cents. I used an 800 number at VWL and OKW on the last visit and don't remember being charged (although I may actually have been)...
