Point Upgrade Question

Since we are buying 170 points at the end of the month, can we, lets say in 10 years, bump the points up to 200 or 225 with out having to purchase from another resort if our home resort is sold out?

After 10 years, your home resort would likely be sold out...even for owner add-ons. However, there is a wait list through DVD, as well as re-sale.

Once a resort is sold out, DVC will have no more points to sell for an add-on. Your options will be to find a resale for an add-on, add points at another resort or get on a DVC waitlist to see if they should reclaim any points for your use year.

DVC doesn't just "hold" extra points in case a member wants to add on later.

Thanks! I got that. Another question. Will I have to purchase the minimum at the new resort? Or can I just purchase 25-30 points?

You could just purchase the 25 - 30 points if you wanted.

The 150 point minimum only applies to the initial first purchase of DVC.

The minimum add-on thru DVC is 25 points. The points can be any number (26, 27, 42, etc.) as long as it's 25 or more.

Keep in mind that the minimum is 50 pts if you use Disney financing.
