What types of things are there to do in Grand Cayman if you opt NOT to take an excursion????

Thanks, Kamy :)

we did Grand Cayman on our own. You can walk about a block and a half to the right, and you will be at the Atlantis Sub place, and can make your own arrangements for when you want to do this. I think it is scheduled for every hour and a half or so. Then if you keep walking about another block along the shore line, there is a place that you can snorkel. It was pretty good, and you can rent gear there cheaper than what you can on the ship. There is also lots of shopping in this area.

You can also take a taxi to the Seven Mile Beach. I can't remember the exact cost, but it was very reasonable.

Thanks Sue! We are trying to decide which stop to NOT do an excursion in. We are concerned that by doing an excurison, you miss out on "free time" on the island.

Thanks again!

There are things that you can do within walking distance of the pier when you tender in Grand Cayman. We have benn there twice, and both times we felt comfortable doing things on our own there.

Did anyone rent a car on Grand Cayman?

We did not do any organized excursions on our 6-22 western Magic, and did not feel like we missed anything. We like to make our own excursions, both to save $$, but especially to go at our own timetable, and depending where we are, to go off the beaten path. We are myself, dh, and ds's 12-12-8
On Cayman we took a cab to 7mile beach (4$ each I think) and snorkeled using our own equipment. We went to the Marriott and ended up walking three resorts toward the ship. Based on where my parents went, I would recommend the Holiday Inn for restroom and food facilities. The fish were plentiful with a wide assortment. After a couple of hours we went back to the ship (tendering was very quick and easy) to drop the gear and rinse off and then DH and I went ashore to do a little shopping near the tender pier.
