THE WHEN THE HOW AND THE WHERE

Thanks for sticking around/ coming back! :thumbsup2

Before I get to The When, The Where and The How, I have a little surprise for all of you!

I have a co-author! :) My Dh, Ken and I decided that it would be fun to share this PTR!:yay: He will be chiming in with his take on things posting under his DIS name of FIRESTARTER!

To keep you from getting confused, Ken will be posting in BLUE!

Now, let's get to the details! :cool1: Cause that's why you're all here right? :surfweb:

THE WHEN

Our vacation will officially begin at 11am in the morning on January 25th, 2010.

That morning one of us will take the girls to school for the first period of the day. When said child deliverer returns home by approximately 8:50am, we will commense furious finishing of packing and loading of the van!

We will do all the necessary things a family must do to keep the house tight and sfe while on vacation. Oh yes and feed the cat too! The house and cat will be regularly checked upon by various members of family and trusted friends!

At exactly 10:50am, we will depart our driveway for the .6mile drive to the girls school where, upon arrival, we will collect the children, buckle them into their seatbelts/ booster seats and begin our vacation! :car:

THE HOW

We discovered in the planning of our previous trip that flying out of Canada into the U.S. is extremely expensive!

So, the fact that we live just 6.5 hrs from a Major American Flight hub, we decided to investigate what it would cost to fly from Minneapolis! I knew from our adventure last year that flight prices can fluctuate quite frequently!

So I began watching, and watching, and watching! Finally about the middle of August, those airfares began to drop! :cheer2:

I watched for a day or so :surfweb: and saw something very amazing! We could fly R/T to Orlando from MSP for just over $600 CANADIAN!!! Needless to say, we snapped that deal up in a hurry! :woohoo:

So we will fly from Minneapolis to Orlando on Sun Country airlines at 8am on Tuesday January 26th. We will arrive in sunny Orlando at 12noon!

Once we arrive in Orlando, we will catch Disney's Magical Express to our Resort!

THE WHERE

By now, the anticipation of knowing where we will be spending our Winter Wonderlude must have you quaking in your computer chair! :lmao: Well, I won't keep you in suspense much longer! ;)

Our trip last year, we had originally booked to stay at POFQ. Well, when the 4/7 deal came out we were able to upgrade to WL! That was so sweet! We absolutely loved the Wilderness Lodge! If you have never stayed there I would highly recommend trying it out!

As much as we liked WL, this time around we are in the mood to try something a little bit different. So......we will be spending 7 nights at Port Orleans French Quarter!

We are very excited and can not wait to be there! I have looked at lots of pictures and I think it is going to be amazing!

Up next......park plans and ADRs

How fun that Ken is coming along too!! I love his humor!!!! I like to try new places too---we can't do the WL, because they only allow 4 in a room...we dont want to pay more for a suite! But I would like to eat over there!!!

I'm here ! I am excited you're staying at POFQ - that's been on our list every year, but the 4/3 always allows us something new ;)We were at WL last Jan as well and loved it!
Flying out of the US is much cheaper. We live very close to the Buffalo boarder, however we have never flown out of Buffalo- yet... last Jan the pricing wasn't there for us, we'd need to go down the night before, hotel and park n fly trumped that idea. This trip our because our flight was so good last year I am rebooking the same flight out of Toronto.

Thank you for sharing your plans with us! :goodvibes

I am waiting for my hubby to post his views! He told me not to post the third chapter until he had a chance to comment on this posting. Yeah, I guess being a family of 5 you are kind of limited on where you can stay. My sister is currently planning their first trip for MArch 2010 and they just booked the cabins with the 4/7 deal. :) They have 2 boys and a girl too! pirate: pirate: princess:

Ok, I'm in for this report!! I can't believe those airfares - we paid $700 each out of Winnipeg! There are much cheaper flights out of Fargo, which is a 4 hour drive south from here, but we're terrified of a snow storm that would mess up our plans.

Is the trip a surprise for the kids?

:goodvibes Glad you could make it over! :) We are in Thunder Bay and airfare from here would have cost about that too! Just couldn't do it! Basically, getting this airfare at such a low cost cinched the trip for us! :woohoo:

We were very lucky last year...it was clear when we left our house at 7am for the drive to MSP. It started to snow about 15 mins after we crossed the border. I will tell more about that in a future episode!

We will play it by ear this time. If the weather looks like it will cooperate we will stick to the aforementioned plan. If the weather looks iffy we can leave sooner. If we have to we can even leave the day before and spend an extra night on the road! We will see what happens! :)

No. this trip is NOT a surprise for the girls. We surprised them with the trip last year. They said if we ever went again that they would like to help plan so we told them this time! They are so good about it though! We told them Thanksgiving weekend and they have only asked maybe 2x how many days until we go to WDW!

I think that we will make a countdown calendar when we get closer to 60 days! I need to use up all the Home Depot Disney paint chips I have in my drawer! :lmao:

A Northern Family's Southern Getaway – Take 2
~A January 2010 PTR~

Hello! Welcome to this, the Pre Trip Report for our second Disney Vacation! :woohoo: I appreciate you stopping by to say hello. :goodvibes I hope that you will enjoy reading along as we plan for our not too distant trip to Walt Disney World.

Before we get much furthur, please allow me to introduce myself and the rest of my family!

Before I go any further let me say that my wife does hold her spelling abilities as a token of esteem...

THE WHO

Me (Kim) - SAHM, daycare provider and obsessed planner and lover of all things Disney.

"Obsessed: to haunt or excessively preoccupy the mind of" (http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/obsessed)
My wife omitted an adjective in the above sentence. It should have read "obsessed planner and obsessed lover of all things Disney."

DH (Ken) – Computer geek, drama nerd and holds the “official” title of “Best Dad EVER”

She failed to say hauntingly attractive.

DD8 (Emily) – Big sister, reader extrordinaire, plays piano amd loves to create and craft, also a very excellent draw-er!

She loves Star Wars too. And that is why she is cool.

DD6 (Natalie) – Little sister, loves reading, dressing up, baking with mom and is the best whistler I know!

The kid also has an affinity for violent video games. When not playing ones that involve punching she will introduce that feature in real life.

Here is a picture of us from our last trip this past January 2009.

I took that picture. No, I'm not capable of quantum shifting, I used the auto-timer. I'm so Canadian I'm too shy to ask strangers to take our picture.

Well, now that you know who we are, I'll just bet you are curious to find out the details of our next trip! popcorn:: Well, they will be posted soon, along with a fun surprise! ;)

To keep you from getting confused, Ken will be posting in BLUE!

And to prevent my wife from confusing you, I'm writing in red with the Palatino Linotype font.

Now, let's get to the details! :cool1: Cause that's why you're all here right? :surfweb:

Either that or living vicariously through your reporting style, wishing they had someone so witty as I to provide colour commentary.

Count yourself lucky you don't have to listen to this in real life...

THE WHEN

Our vacation will officially begin at 11am in the morning on January 25th, 2010.

Not for me, I'm booking out of work at 4:45 on the 22nd. If dreaming and mentally projecting is counted as part of the vacation, then Kim started on the bus ride to the airport on our last visit.

That morning one of us will take the girls to school for the first period of the day. When said child deliverer returns home by approximately 8:50am, we will commense furious finishing of packing and loading of the van!

And that my friends, is why she gets to plan the Disney part of the vacation. The van will be packed Sunday afternoon with leisure and ease.

:car:

She gets out. I'll tune in Dream Theatre, or the Matrix soundtrack on the stereo.

:cheer2:

This is something Kim does really well. Me, I am used to going on business travel with a large corporation. My planning involves a vague direction of where I want to go.

Providing the pilot doesn't overshoot the airport by doing a computer lesson in the cockpit.

Once we arrive in Orlando, we will catch Disney's Magical Express to our Resort!

Kim already has her seat picked out. It's not beside me, and I'm not sure why...

BEST... RESORT... EVER!

Seriously. I would sell our house and live there. Ahhhh. After the first hour I had a change of address for my happy place, and it is the Wilderness Lodge.

As much as we liked WL, this time around we are in the mood to try something a little bit different.

Speak for yourself woman. Can I stay at the Wilderness Lodge again and just meet you in the parks?

So......we will be spending 7 nights at Port Orleans French Quarter!

We are very excited and can not wait to be there! I have looked at lots of pictures and I think it is going to be amazing!

Ok, truth be told I originally wanted to stay in Port Orleans. Then I stayed in the Wilderness Lodge. I'm a skeptic. How could anything else compare?

She failed to say hauntingly attractive.

I believe it!!

The kid also has an affinity for violent video games. When not playing ones that involve punching she will introduce that feature in real life.

Sounds just like my DD6 - when she's getting wild, we hook her up to the Wii boxing game so she stops trying to punch her family members!

I took that picture. No, I'm not capable of quantum shifting, I used the auto-timer. I'm so Canadian I'm too shy to ask strangers to take our picture.

Minnesotans and Canadians are a lot alike, eh?

THE WHAT (aka Park Plans and ADRs ) PART 1

ARRIVAL DAY – January 26th

Seeing as how our plane is scheduled to land in Orlando at 12 noon, we will quite hopefully arrive at POFQ by Magical Express around 1pm! :cool1:I say hopefully because this would be the ideal arrival time after everything has gone according to the schedule. By that I mean, MY schedule! ;) There will be no forgotten cameras this time around and no getting confused on how to find Magical Express in the airport! :rolleyes1

Once we arrive at POFQ I will, as quickly as possible, find my way to the Online Check in desk (I plan to do online check in) receive our package and tickets etc, collect my family and then we will make our way to our room while taking in all the beauty of the resort around us! Of course the room WILL be ready for us because we have NO REQUESTS!!! I have studied that resort map so many times I feel comfortable accepting any room they can give us! This family is not afraid of a little walking! :cool2:

Once we find our room we will try to settle in a bit! Unpack our stuff (at this point we are considering going with just carry on luggage but haven't completely decided yet!) and get familiar with the room. If we need to eat perhaps we will mosey on over to Sassagoula Floatworks and check out the menu there. If we don't need to eat then perhaps we will take a bit of a stroll around the resort and admire the scenery! :cool1:

At about 3 pm I would like for us to head over to the Magic Kingdom! :woohoo: Once we arrive at MK we will be heading into Frontierland. Alas, our beloved Splash Mountain will be closed :sad1: so instead we will take ourselves on the Big Thunder Mountain Railroad! :cheer2: Following this we will probably take in as much of Frontierland, Liberty Square and Adventureland as possible!

We plan to eat at Pecos Bill's sometime before it gets super busy and Ken's biggest wish for this evening is to see Wishes in its entirety! Last trip he was chosen to take Natalie to the washroom and he missed the beginning of the show! :sad1:

Once Wishes has ended we will casually make our way down Main St, perhaps shopping along the way before heading out of the park to head back to POFQ for some much needed rest!

That morning our flight leaves MSP @ 8am so we will have to be awake around 5am. I can hope that the girls will be sensible enough to rest on the plane but who am I kidding? We will probably be having a little nap at POFQ after we check in and BEFORE we leave for MK!!! :confused3

up next..... Day 2 plans!

Disney Mommy 3

Sounds great so far!!! Just know that it usually takes us a wee bit longer than one hour to get from the ME counter at the airport to the resort...it all depends on how long that line is down there. Also, if your resort is the first or last to drop off!!! I think our trips have been about an hour and a half...not too bad for a free trip!

I hope things go Kim's way as well. That bodes well for me, and being selfish that aligns with many of my life's goals.

The Camera incident was funny. I brought our old camera so our older daughter could keep her own record. She lost it the first day. Go figure. What happend was I had the nagging voice in my head (it sounds just like Phyllis Diller, I can't miss it) that said "Double check to see if you have the kid's camera". I listened to said voice JUST outside security. Lesson learned: If it nags, obey immediately. How I forgot THAT from childhood...

Once we arrive at POFQ I will, as quickly as possible, find my way to the Online Check in desk (I plan to do online check in) receive our package and tickets etc, collect my family and then we will make our way to our room while taking in all the beauty of the resort around us! Aka: SPRINT! Wait. SPRINT! STOP! Look, take photo. SPRINT!

Of course the room WILL be ready for us because we have NO REQUESTS!!!

Kim, meet Murphy. He makes edicts, laws if you please.

I have studied that resort map so many times I feel comfortable accepting any room they can give us! This family is not afraid of a little walking! :cool2:

If there is a room where a tree has grown in front of the window, we will get that one.

Once we find our room we will try to settle in a bit! aka Kim will leave immediately to photograph the park while I try to wrangle the two perpetual motion small bags of water into beds.Unpack our stuff (at this point we are considering going with just carry on luggage but haven't completely decided yet!)I'm giving 5:1 odds we don't and get familiar with the room. If we need to eat perhaps we will mosey on over to Sassagoula Floatworks and check out the menu there. Emily will have a hamburger, Nat will have the nuggets, I'll have the largest legal serving of meat available. If we don't need to eat then perhaps we will take a bit of a stroll around the resort and admire the scenery! :cool1:

At about 3 pm I would like for us to head over to the Magic Kingdom! :woohoo: Yay!Once we arrive at MK we will be heading into Frontierland. Alas, our beloved Splash Mountain will be closed :sad1: Boo!so instead we will take ourselves on the Big Thunder Mountain Railroad! :cheer2: Following this we will probably take in as much of Frontierland, Liberty Square and Adventureland as possible! I really like Adventureland. It will stink not having my internal organs repositioned by negative G's on Splash Mountain. That said I really like the look of the liberty square area. For a Canadian I find American history fascinating, and not just the part where we burnt down your White House.

We plan to eat at Pecos Bill's sometime before it gets super busy and Ken's biggest wish for this evening is to see Wishes in its entirety! Last trip he was chosen to take Natalie to the washroom and he missed the beginning of the show! :sad1:

Suffer me to clarify the moment. These awesome fireworks, the best I have ever seen in my life, are about to start. My younger daughter has a panic attack due to the impending loud noise. She suddenly "has to go pee" and we take off at a good trot so she doesn't have the trotts. She then hid in the women's washroom while I waited outside and heard OOOOH! BANG! AHHHH! (That was my rendering of the fireworks, not nondescript sounds I heard from the women's loo)

Once Wishes has ended we will casually make our way down Main St, perhaps shopping along the way before heading out of the park to head back to POFQ for some much needed rest! Did I mention I LOVED to take the boat back to Wilderness Lodge. SIGH. No Monorail. No Boat. Why is Port Orleans better again dear?

That morning our flight leaves MSP @ 8am so we will have to be awake around 5am. I can hope that the girls will be sensible enough to rest on the plane but who am I kidding? We will probably be having a little nap at POFQ after we check in and BEFORE we leave for MK!!! :confused3

Medical science can solve this problem, I'm sure of it. That or a tape of Ben Stein reading legal briefs...

I know that realistically it will probably take a bit longer BUT, the fact that we are travelling on a tuesday in the middle of the day leads me to think that it may only be a little bit longer! We shall see! Past trip our flight landed 10 mins early and had it not been for the forgotten camera <lettingitgolettingitgo> we would have been totally on schedule! Our flight landed at 11:25am, we were at the ME desk at noon and at the resort at exactly 1pm! I am really hoping to get to the resort as quickly as possible!

Oh my this is going to be one interesting PTR!!! I hope we won't have to separate you two by the time it's over :lmao:

Oh no worries Kim! ;) This is all good natured fun! We spar like this at home ALL the time! He loves to tease!

Why does everyone elses plans for the park seem far more relaxing than mine? :confused3 LOL.

MAJOR TRAVEL CHANGES :scared1:

Well, not too Major, nothing that couldn't be fixed! ;) Here's the Story...

I had not yet booked out MAgical Express and thought I would get that done today. So, I went into my email to retrieve our reservation numbers and then proceeded to check our flight schedule. Good thing I did! I did a triple take when I saw that our flights had been changed to different days!!! :scared1: Our airline now had us travelling on the 25th and 1st!

Needless to say, I very quickly called them up to see what the deal was. A very nice customer servie rep told me that due to a scheduling change they were no longer flying on Tuesdays! WHAT??? :confused3 She said I could accept the change or cancel. If we chose to cancel we would be given a full refund. If we chose to work around the changes we would be given 4 $100 vouchers good for any flight on the airline AFTER this current trip! :thumbsup2 What do you think I chose to do? ;)

I said to leave us where we were for the time being, that I would try to change our resort reservations and get back to them. So, I immediately called Disney. Hoping against hope that there would still be availabllity at POFQ for the new dates. A very nice CM, I think his name was Vance, reassured me that indeed there was still availablilty and quickly made the changes AND booked our magical express.

I again called the airline to affirm the change and to confirm our mailing address for the mailing of the vouchers! :yay: As I got off the phone, it dawned on me that I would now have to rearrange our park days a bit AND change some of our ADRs :scared1: After a quick check of the crowd calendar, I was releived to see that I could still keep most of them AND I wouldn't have to give up my coveted Le Cellier! :cheer2:

So, after all the phoning and rearranging, Here is our NEW (and I think, slightly improved) January 2010 WDW Northern Family Vacation schedule......

So happy were able to change. That may show us how less crowded we expect this time of year to be. I need to also book my ME! I should try to accomplish that asap.
I did book my flight last week, paid for done deal! :yay: No turning back!

My new avatar - found daisy during a google search, love my random sarches

Firestarter gets full credit for Phyllis Diller, I just wanted him to know he's not alone! She's inside all our heads if you listen real close :rotfl:
Like right nowtelling me to get up and call about the ME, sort out my ADRs and see if I really want and early LTT on departure day! Then she switces to tell me "what were you thinking doing the red eye on departure day, what are you going to do all day without a bed to nap in ??" :confused3

Maybe this is a sign I need to do a PTR to ramble my concerns, however I hear they have a curse!

oh, I think I would have had a heart attack !! What airline are you flying on? This is always a major concern for me when travelling in winter especially - an airline that has limited flights. We are paying through the nose for flights out of Winnipeg, but with United, there are like 5 flights per day. We could have flown from Fargo (4 hour drive south) for half the price, but they only fly down to Orlando twice per week. All it would take would be one good winter storm, and half our vacation would be gone.

Annnnnyway, I'm so glad it all worked out for you. I hope you manage to rearrange your ADR's without too much trouble. Your dates are almost identical to ours - we head down a day earlier than you.

We are flying Suncountry. When I booked our flights, they were flying every day at least 1x if not 2x a day! I guess they have just made some recent changes to their schedule and had not gotten to our reservation yet. Because I found it first, we were given $400 for another trip! :woohoo:

Now we don't have to worry about the girls going to school on the Monday because we will be leaving to drive to Minneapolis on the Sunday! :thumbsup2

DAY 2 PLANS

Well, with the change in air travel and consequently, the change in days, we will now be going to DHS on our second day. :wizard: Here are the plans I have so far....

hopefully we will be able to wake up around 7am. :rolleyes1 Do all the necessary getting ready for the day things, grab a pop tart or granola bar and head for the bus by 745am!

I want to be as close to the front of the herd as possible for the run, er, I mean, walk to TSM!!! I am sure that Ken would love to have a better view of the opening show at DHS as well! He LOVED the streetmosphere characters last time! He was even fortunate enough to strike up a conversation with one of the "rising stars" on one of our days there! He was thrilled!

The TSM plan is thus...I will walk as quickly as possible to the FP machine, grab some FPs for all of us and then find my family (who will already be in the standby line waiting for me) and we will ride our favourite ride together! :yay:

After the TSM madness, we will head down Sunset towards the dreaded Tower of Terror! :scared1: This was one ride that my dear husband had his heart set on riding last time but was unable to ride because of scheduling issues. I am determined that He will ride ToT at least once this trip. More if possible! I have absolutely no desire whatsoever to ride this AT ALL!

Once Ken has had his fright for the day, we will continue on to Rockin' Roller Coaster! Now this I do want to ride! Emily does too! :yay: Natalie will not be able to ride because she will not yet be tall enough! Not that she would ride it anyway! A bit yellow, my little girl is! Oh well, we will get a baby swap if they have 'em and Em will get to ride twice if she wants!

After we have rocked our brains out, we will probably be ready for a small snack of some sort. So we will probably head over to Starring Rolls and find ourselves a treat! Ken is determined that He will have, AND finish, one of those gargantuan cupcakes! Check out this link to see what I am talking about -

http://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2009/10/05/you-wont-believe-this-snack-butterfinger-muffin/

After our snack we will most likely head over to do Star Tours. Natalie has recently watched ALL 3 of the original Star Wars movies and is actually excited about going on this ride! :cool1:

This will be followed by some Muppets and if we have enough time before our 12:45pm lunch at Sci-Fi, we may play at the HISTK playground for a bit! :woohoo:

After eating, we will probably be ready to hunt out some characters so I think we will head to the Animation Courtyard to see who is hanging around! Both our girls really love to draw so I think we might even do the tour if they feel like it!

Somewhere in there we will definitely be using our FPs for TSM and possibly be getting more depending on the return times. If it is really late we will probably pass.

I really would like to see the Indiana Jones show and I think there is one at 4pm so this will be the last thing we do before heading out of the park for the day!

We will return to POFQ for some down time and then I think we will head over to DTD for the evening! Last year the girls had so much fun playing in the fountains, they really want to do this again! They also want to play at the Lego store and browse through the World of Disney and Once upon a Toy! :)

We will most likely grab some supper at either Wolfgang Puck Express (I've heard it is REALLY good) or Earl of Sandwich (I am very curious to try it). We will most likely head back to POFQ by 8:30 or so to get the girls to bed.

So ther you have it - Day 2 plans, what do you think?

Oh just for visual appeal, here are some pics from our last encounters at DHS!

Sounds like a nice plan! That cupcake is oh my gosh.:worship:
Do you know what time Starring Role closes? On my trip the park closes at 8 and we're seeing Fantasmic at 8. So, while the crazy herd leaves I would love to stay and get that cupcake before facing the devil for the boat back to the resort.
I love the DHS pictures! The one with the girls covering their face is too funny.

your plans look great!! We are hoping to get to DHS early one day too solely for TSMM! we are not big coaster or thrill ride folks, so we don't do too many rides. The only reason we are there more than half a day is the shows - you can't see them all based on the schedules!!
I want to try Earl too! It's very reasonably priced so we'll probably do it OOP before our package kicks in. We have one room only night at the beginning.

Are your girls still into autographs? You can get some good ones at DHS. I think some are more rare too.

We did all the shows that the kids wanted to last time. We did Beauty, Little Mermaid and Lights, Motors, Action! We would have done them all in a single day except that VOTLM was closed on our first day. The girls really aren't interested in seeing any more shows this time around but I want to see Indiana Jones - cause it's a memory for me of trips when I was a kid AND I know that Ken will like it!

Yes, they ARE TOTALLY into autographs! They often look at their book and decide who's autographs they still need! I think some that are on the list are Lilo, Mary Poppins, Alice, Fairy Godmother, Chip and Dale and Dug from UP!

Hey~ your day looks good!! Oh my word!!! That Cupcake!!!! I don't think I could eat that thing.....toooo big!!! Now,...that giant Mickey shaped Rice Krispie Treat I am gonna try!! I hope we all get to ride Toy Story over and over!!!!!!!

There is NO WAY that I could even imagine eating something that huge! I would so totally hurl! My dear sweet husband is blessed (or cursed - not sure which) with both a HUGE sweet tooth AND a cast iron stomach! He can pretty much eat ANYTHING he wants and never has any issues. Lucky guy! ;)

As far as TSM, we should be able to ride it at the very least twice! I can just hope for 3 though right? :wizard: I think four times would be pushing it!

[/b]
ok, i'm on frickin' vacation lady! Seriously. Sigh. Ok, you want to be at the bus by 7:45, here is how it works:

6:59 Snooze alarm
7:06 Wake up to second alarm in panic
7:07 Kim starts her shower
7:20 Kim gets out of shower
7:21 Kim wakes up kids and ken
7:22 Tell kids to get dressed.
7:23 Tell kids to get dressed.
7:24 Break up fight between kids.
7:25 Tell kids to get dressed.
7:26 Threaten to dress kids.
7:27 Ken goes for shower.
7:29 Ken gets out of shower (still remember how to do that from being on ship)
7:30 Ken starts to do his hair
7:31 Ken realizes he has no more gel and searches for hat
7:40 Ken finds hat
7:41 Nag kids out of the door
7:42 Realize a child forgot a sock
7:43 Mad sprint to bus depot
7:45 Arrive at bus depot
7:50 Bus arrives

I want to be as close to the front of the herd as possible for the run, er, I mean, walk to tsm!!! I am sure that ken would love to have a better view of the opening show at dhs as well! He loved the streetmosphere characters last time! He was even fortunate enough to strike up a conversation with one of the "rising stars" on one of our days there! He was thrilled!

That show was soooo fun. I love interacting with cast members who can talk. Eeyore was no fun, even though I had the killer line of "did you know your name was onomatopoeia?" Yet I understand the importance of getting to toy story mania. It's up there with getting in the front row to meet the Queen.

the tsm plan is thus...i will walk as quickly as possible to the fp machine, grab some fps for all of us and then find my family (who will already be in the standby line waiting for me) and we will ride our favourite ride together!

Wuss. I missed riding the tower of terror because none of the other rides caused me cardiac difficulties. Save Spash Mountain. How anyone can enjoy a ride you're not tied to is beyond me.

once ken has had his fright for the day, we will continue on to rockin' roller coaster!

Probability of Emily wanting repeat: 100%. Is it wrong that I want to do this on the ride? (be sure to mouse over to see the alt text):

My idea of roller coaster fun (http://xkcd.com/249/)

I have 3 words: Mmmmm^3

after our snack we will most likely head over to do star tours. Natalie has recently watched all 3 of the original star wars movies and is actually excited about going on this ride! :cool1:

As opposed to last year where she had panic attacks just looking at the queue display.

this will be followed by some muppets and if we have enough time before our 12:45pm lunch at sci-fi, we may play at the histk playground for a bit! :woohoo:

I loved the muppets. Maybe it's a surprise but I enjoy their humour. "I did not expect this disaster!" "What sort of disaster did you expect?" True Genius

after eating, we will probably be ready to hunt out some characters so I think we will head to the animation courtyard to see who is hanging around! Both our girls really love to draw so I think we might even do the tour if they feel like it!

She says hunt but it's more hide and seek than counterstrike. I wonder if there would ever be a paintball round in Disney. Must send in that suggestion...

somewhere in there we will definitely be using our fps for tsm and possibly be getting more depending on the return times. If it is really late we will probably pass.

I really would like to see the indiana jones show and I think there is one at 4pm so this will be the last thing we do before heading out of the park for the day!

SIGH More cool 80's movies to watch with the kids. Both Indiana Jones movies: Raiders of the Lost Ark and The Last Crusade. Thank goodness they only made two, and they were both great.

we will return to pofq for some down time and then I think we will head over to dtd for the evening! Last year the girls had so much fun playing in the fountains, they really want to do this again! They also want to play at the lego store and browse through the world of disney and once upon a toy! :)

You neglect to mention making a lightsabre. For each child. And me. Especially me.

we will most likely grab some supper at either wolfgang puck express (i've heard it is really good) or earl of sandwich (i am very curious to try it). We will most likely head back to pofq by 8:30 or so to get the girls to bed.

6:59 Snooze alarm
7:06 Wake up to second alarm in panic
7:07 Kim starts her shower
7:20 Kim gets out of shower
7:21 Kim wakes up kids and ken
7:22 Tell kids to get dressed.
7:23 Tell kids to get dressed.
7:24 Break up fight between kids.
7:25 Tell kids to get dressed.
7:26 Threaten to dress kids.
7:27 Ken goes for shower.
7:29 Ken gets out of shower (still remember how to do that from being on ship)
7:30 Ken starts to do his hair
7:31 Ken realizes he has no more gel and searches for hat
7:40 Ken finds hat
7:41 Nag kids out of the door
7:42 Realize a child forgot a sock
7:43 Mad sprint to bus depot
7:45 Arrive at bus depot
7:50 Bus arrives

Oh my dear sweet man! :lmao:  You don't think you will be able to get up at 7? Even when you will have been in bed since 9:30 the night before? ;) :rotfl2:

Sshhh! This is my dream fantasy! :cool1: Of course the children will not be fighting! ;) Who ever heard of such a thing? Children fighting while on vacation! :confused3 :rotfl:

Don't worry dear, there will be NOTHING forgotten during this vacation AND you WILL be fully stocked with hair gel! :)

I'm rooting for you Ken!!!! You can do it- perhaps the girls can nibble a bit to help.

I giggled out loud at the kid's fighting on vacation. Last trip DH took pics/vidoe of all the kids he saw throwing temper tantrums. He enjoyed the irony of being in the happiest place on earth while watching a mom pick her jelly legged screaming 2 year old up off the ground. :lmao:

Hmmmm :rolleyes1 Both my girls have a serious love for chocolate! ;) I think that they will have to fight their father for a bite - cause I do believe he will be able to eat it ALL BY HIMSELF!!! :lmao:

Maybe it was just me being in a bubble again, but I really didn't notice too many unhappy families! :confused3 I think I saw a few tired kids but I really didn't see any examples of "uneffective" parenting! :)

The one thing I DID notice was so many BIG KIDS in stollers:confused3 The girls even noticed it too! They saw a boy who had to be at least 10 yrs old sitting in a stroller and asked why such a big boy couldn't walk when they were walking? I didn't have an answer for them! ;)

ANYWAYS - Should have DAY 3 plans up by tomorrow! :)

I was noticing that you drive down from Thunder Bay. Have you ever looked into the airline Allegiant Air? They have a direct flight from Duluth and like any airline they sometimes have some pretty good deals. It would save you some drive time if your planning on anymore trips in the future.

SIGH More cool 80's movies to watch with the kids. Both Indiana Jones movies: Raiders of the Lost Ark and The Last Crusade. Thank goodness they only made two, and they were both great.

Are you refusing to acknowledge the existence of the other two movies?

:upsidedow So sorry my friends! I failed to post Day 3 as I said I would and I apologize! :guilty: Today was a bit more crazy than I had anticipated! I will get that chapter up either later tonite or at the latest, tomorrow! :goodvibes

Today was a day full of grocery shopping, laundry, dishes, garbage and doctors appointments! :faint: Emily is going to a birthday party sleepover soon and then Ken and I are taking Natalie out for dinner and shopping for a new Christmas tree! We have decided to go fake because of my unavoidable allergies to trees! :rolleyes1

Until then, my friends, :flower3:

Well we didn't end up getting one last night! :upsidedow We shopped around and decided on what we want exactly! Pre-lit, Pine tree, at least 6 ft with between 500-600 points and branches that we DON'T have to hook on! We also do not want to pay more than $250! :) So....we will wait for abit and watch the sales! We don't usually get a tree until the week before Christmas anyway so we have a bit of time! :goodvibes

DAY 3 - EPCOT

This day will begin just as the previous day did! ;) You can choose my version or Ken's! :lmao: Either way, we WILL be at the POFQ bus stop by 7:45 am! I have great aspirations of being able to actually shake the hands of the characters when they open the park! :cool1: Last year we were about 4 rows deep and could only see the tips of Mickey's ears!

After the rope is dropped, we will join the stampede to acquire Fast Passes for Soarin'! :cheer2: The girls and I are all VERY eager to ride this ride! It was our second favourite of our trip last year! (TSM being the first) Hopefully we will also be able to ride it standby at that time! However, if the line to ride it Stand By is more than 20 mins, we will probably just go back later!

Our third fave is Test Track and Natalie is actually excited about riding this one this time! :woohoo: We kind of tricked her into riding it last year and as you can see in the photo below, she wasn't actually thrilled to be on it!

http://i463.photobucket.com/albums/qq354/kdhorton08/251.jpg

After riding TT, I think we will probably head over to Mission: Space so Ken and Emily can do their Father/Daughter Space bonding thing! :thumbsup2 I am just not interested in doing this one - not even the green team! Not sure if Nat will be brave enough to try this one or not!

By this point we might be able to acquire more FPs so we will probably decide on TT or Soarin'! I think from here on in we will just play it by ear and see how the crowds are and do what we want. Possibilities are Living with the land, Circle of Life, Nemo, Turtle Talk, Spaceship Earth, Imagination, Universe of Energy (which was closed for refurb last year) or we might even check out Innoventions! Who knows where the day will take us?

At some point we will stop for a bit to eat - most likely close to 11am at Sunshine Seasons! I have been so eager to try this place out. We had some treats from there last time but I want to try some of their REAL FOOD! :cool1: We have an early ADR for supper so I think there is the possibility of maybe sharing some food and having a snack a bit later!

We will probably head into the World Showcase at some point AFTER lunch, maybe around 2ish! The main focus for this day is Future World and doing all that we missed last trip! We actually did very well in WS last time and saw and did quite a bit! I think that we will most likey try to see the American Adventure this day because it broke down half way through the presentation we tried to see last year. :sad1: I would really like to explore The Chinese and Canadian pavillions a bit more thoroughly and see the Chinese Acrobats and the Canadian Celtic Music show! popcorn::

We have an ADR at 4:30pm for Le Cellier! :cheer2: :yay: :woohoo: :cool1: I know that my dear sweet husband doesn't fully comprehend just how important this ADR really is! ;) This was my #1 ADR choice! I am so happy that I was able to get in here! The original ADR was for a different time on a different day and then I decided to switch things up a bit and found this one ADR still available! SO HAPPY!!!

I think that after supper we will probably be ready to head back to POFQ for some down time! The girls will probably be ready for some playground time OR if it is nice weather , maybe an early evening swim! :cool2: We shall see! :) I think that this will be an early to bed night for all of us! :thumbsup2

Here are some more photos of our Adventures at Epcot last year!

DAY 3 - EPCOT

********

Ok, so I wanted to do this visually, so I drew up our Day 3 plans in Google Maps. Check it out!:Epcot - Day 3 - My Map! (http://maps.google.ca/maps/ms?ie=UTF8&hl=en&msa=0&msid=106606691593121245071.0004784aef120d8afecad&ll=28.381074,-81.538639&spn=0.004682,0.009645&t=h&z=17)

This day will begin just as the previous day did! ;) You can choose my version or Ken's! :lmao:

I choose the one where we ALL get Rocket Boots.

Either way, we WILL be at the POFQ bus stop by 7:45 am! I have great aspirations of being able to actually shake the hands of the characters when they open the park! :cool1: Last year we were about 4 rows deep and could only see the tips of Mickey's ears!

I can not see her get distracted by characters on the way to Soarin'. She'd drop kick Donald if he was in the way. In Hollywood Studios last year she bolted ahead to get fast pass while I trudged with the kidlings. I stopped to let Nat meet Minnie since Nat wanted to, and Minnie was lonely in the river of people desperate to get to Toy Story Mania.

Last year I had, as I always do, a cup of black coffee in the morning. When we got to Epcot there was not a chance to go pee from the Monorail until we were done Soarin'. I thought I would provide a different aromatic experience to that ride. Never again.

Our third fave is Test Track and Natalie is actually excited about riding this one this time! :woohoo:

We tricked her by forcing her into the only exit in the ride, the car. She had a "got to go pee" panic attack right at the end of the line. Another time to leash the kids I figure.

By the way, whenever I think of Test Track, I think of this video clip (http://www.iihs.org/50th/default.html#). It's from the 50th anniversary of the IIHS, and it pits a 1959 Bel Air against a 2009 Malibu.

We kind of tricked her into riding it last year and as you can see in the photo below, she wasn't actually thrilled to be on it!

http://i463.photobucket.com/albums/qq354/kdhorton08/251.jpg

She didn't mind it too much once she was on it, although she didn't go back on it again.

After riding TT, I think we will probably head over to Mission: Space so Ken and Emily can do their Father/Daughter Space bonding thing! :thumbsup2 I am just not interested in doing this one - not even the green team! Not sure if Nat will be brave enough to try this one or not!

Mmmm, ride with multiple health warnings. I wish there was a "Red" option. I took it as a note of pride that I was one of the few grown ups skipping off the Orange ride saying "Can we go again!?!" :yay:

By this point we might be able to acquire more FPs so we will probably decide on TT or Soarin'! I think from here on in we will just play it by ear and see how the crowds are and do what we want. Possibilities are Living with the land, Circle of Life, Nemo, Turtle Talk, Spaceship Earth, Imagination, Universe of Energy (which was closed for refurb last year) or we might even check out Innoventions! Who knows where the day will take us?

I'm fine with a revisit to each. If Future World has a 4th dimensional flux adjuster we could revisit them ala GroundHog Day. Or a modded out DeLorean.:thumbsup2

Sharing food usually means I eat the kid's stuff too.

We will probably head into the World Showcase at some point AFTER lunch, maybe around 2ish! The main focus for this day is Future World and doing all that we missed last trip!

Maybe Future World will have Rocket boots and a cyborg pets too!

We actually did very well in WS last time and saw and did quite a bit! I think that we will most likey try to see the American Adventure this day because it broke down half way through the presentation we tried to see last year. :sad1:

Yes, the American show became a horror when the animatronics folk singer was effectively decapitated. I thought "How peculiar, he's singing at his shoes." Then the ride ended. Hmph.

I would really like to explore The Chinese and Canadian pavilions a bit more thoroughly and see the Chinese Acrobats and the Canadian Celtic Music show! popcorn::

Hear Hear!

We have an ADR at 4:30pm for Le Cellier! :cheer2: :yay: :woohoo: :cool1: I know that my dear sweet husband doesn't fully comprehend just how important this ADR really is! ;) This was my #1 ADR choice! We can eat Steak here in Canada already, right?

I think that after supper we will probably be ready to head back to POFQ for some down time! The girls will probably be ready for some playground time OR if it is nice weather , maybe an early evening swim! :cool2: We shall see! :) I think that this will be an early to bed night for all of us! :thumbsup2

DAY 4 - Animal Kingdom/Downtown Disney

I don't think we will have such an early start on this day. ;) We should be able to sleep in a bit, say to around 7:30 or so! If we don't quite make RD for AK, I don't think our day will be ruined!

The plan for this day is first to get FPs for anybody that wants to ride EE. Definitely Ken, quite probably me, maybe Emily but, again, our little monkey Nat is just a teensy bit too short. She most definitely wouldn't ride it even if she was tall enough!

Next I think we will go over to Dinoland and try out Triceratops Spin. This was closed on our last trip. The refurb was only announced a week and a half before our trip. The girls were in the know by that point and were both pretty disappointed that this one would not be available to ride. Also, I think maybe, just maybe I will have a crack at Primevil Whirl this time! Perhaps Ken will want to ride Dinosaur! but I don't think he will convince any of us to ride with him!

Our FPs for EE may have opened by now so perhaps we will do that next. After an encounter with the Yeti, I think maybe we will go and procure some FPs for the Safari ride and then hop the Train to Rafiki's Planet Watch and Conservation Station! We just did not have enough time to do this last trip. I think the girls will love it! They do love animals and trains and characters and are actually quite good at speaking to adults so I believe that they will very much enjoy the veterinary clinic!

When we arrive back in Africa I think we will head over to grab some lunch. The girls are begging for Pizzafari again but Ken and I really want to try Flame Tree BBQ. I think that Daddy + BBQ ribs is going to win this battle hands down! I guess it will also depend on the day too. I really am not one for eating outdoors so if it is a cold nasty day (heaven forbid) we may choose to eat inside where there is warmth!

After eating we will probably go have a turn on the safari and then try to catch the first afternoon showing of Festival of the Lion King! This is the ONLY show the girls have asked to see again! I don't balme them - I think it was my fave too!

At this point we will have pretty much done all that we came to do at AK. If the girls want to play at The Bone Yard for a bit that will be fine - Ken may want to try to catch another ride on EE! We will most likely try to leave the park BEFORE the parade starts! We saw it last time and enjoyed it just not super interested in seeing it again.

I think we will head back to POFQ for a bit and then catch the boat to DTD! We have an ADR @ 6:30 at Raglan Road. Ken and I are both quite excited about this one! We will probably shop around a bit before and after and let the girls play in the fountains a bit! I will definitely be making a trip to Goofy's Candy Co.! Also I read that their is a new shop opening soon - Little MissMatched! It's the 3 to a pir sock place that sells really funky socks! Gotta check that out!

We will all probably be pooped by then so back to the Resort we go to shovel ourselves into bed!

I always say we're going to sleep in at Disney- it is vacation after all- but I always find myself up at the crack of dawn fake coughing or making little noises to *accidentally* wake my kids who then will wake my DH

We loved Festival of the Lion King too! Last trip was our first trip seeing it and it was much better than I thought it would be.

Little Mismatched is right up my alley!!!!! I love fun socks! It's the teacher in me I suppose. Hope you're feeling better. Hot tea is my favorite when I'm sick...well it's my favorite even when I'm not sick ;)
I have not had a cup of coffee all week, I almost don't even miss it! I have been drinking so much tea we are nearly out! Good thing it's grocery day tomorrow!

Sleeping in til 7:30 :lmao: What no bus stop at 7:45????
I always say we're going to sleep in at Disney- it is vacation after all- but I always find myself up at the crack of dawn fake coughing or making little noises to *accidentally* wake my kids who then will wake my DH

I swear my children do not understand the concept of sleeping in! On some school days I seriously have to drag them out of bed but EVERY saturday morning they are up by 7am ready to roll! Our trip was no different! They were wide awake and ready to rock every morning by 7am! Even on the nights they had been up late! :confused3

We loved Festival of the Lion King too! Last trip was our first trip seeing it and it was much better than I thought it would be.
I know! It totally blew me away too! AWESOME show!

Little Mismatched is right up my alley!!!!! I love fun socks! It's the teacher in me I suppose. I have socks for almost every holiday and weird ones for in between- some have monkeys, some have rubber ducks in the tub, some have crazy stripes. I've collected quite a few over the years! I'm adding that store to my To Do List!

I will have to double check my source! I think I saw it on the last newsletter from AllEars! I am totally psyched about this store! I  fun socks!

I am starting to feel a bit better! Still have lots of ooey gooey grossness evacuating my head though! eeewwww!

where is this MissMatched store? At DTD? I gotta check it out!!! Your day sounds great...we are still planning to skip AK...I keep asking in case I need to redo some planning...but they all keep saying skip it!

Personally, I would probably skip AK too! Actually thought about doing it too! Ken REALLY wants to ride EE again...and again, though! I sincerely believe that the man could ride that ride ALL DAY long and be quite happy afterwards! :upsidedow

:rotfl2:

That's my honey! He is sooooooo funny! What a goofball! :rotfl2:

Here is the explanation - He gives me the camera and says "Take my picture hun" and proceeds to bend over and tie up his shoe. Being the somewhat occasional blonde that I am says "why do you want me to take a picture of you tying your shoelace?" Then I look through the lens and actually SEE the shot and just about drop the camera from laughing so hard! :rotfl:

A new shop, LittleMissMatched, opened November 9 at Downtown Disney West Side in the spot that formerly housed Starabilia's. The shop sells colorful mismatched socks, gloves, pajamas, other clothing, bedding, and more.

DAY 4 - Animal Kingdom/Downtown Disney

I don't think we will have such an early start on this day. ;) We should be able to sleep in a bit, say to around 7:30 or so! If we don't quite make RD for AK, I don't think our day will be ruined!

No. It's not the sleeping in, it's the dragging around of the half awake kids. THAT is what holds us up. Our day is pretty safe from ruin unless Expedition Everest is closed.

The plan for this day is first to get FPs for anybody that wants to ride EE. Definitely Ken, quite probably me, maybe Emily but, again, our little monkey Nat is just a teensy bit too short. She most definitely wouldn't ride it even if she was tall enough!

I'm open for bets on Kim's second ride. I give 7:1 against. Beginning bet is $20.

Wasn't there a ride on a river that Emily REALLY wanted to go on, but was upset she missed? We need to fit that in.

Primevil Whirl was fun, although hard on the hips, lower back, and any exposed skin to the padding. Trying to stop the collective body mass of the people on the bench using 2 square inches of my leg == OW!

Dinosaur is a fun ride. By fun I mean freakin terrifying. I suffer recurring dreams of being pursued by a Tyrannosaur. The best part of the ride is the photo at the end. It's taken at a moment when half of the participants look like they either filled their shorts or received an unexpected prostate exam. The other half have their eyes closed. This year I will buy pictures of other people riding it.

I know nothing of Planet Watch or Conservation Station, but I promise not to bring forward contrary scientific studies on the rate and cause of climate change, nor cite 17th century ship logs that sound eerily familiar to current extreme weather conditions.

Unless I get bored.

Emily is a major fan of ribs too. And Kim.

I want the kids to enjoy the trip. We can do both. They do takeout at the BBQ right?

On another note, I think Flame Tree must have some other meaning, because I'm thinking of an alternative lifestyle Treebeard, and I KNOW that's not what WDW means.

After eating we will probably go have a turn on the safari and then try to catch the first afternoon showing of Festival of the Lion King! This is the ONLY show the girls have asked to see again! I don't balme them - I think it was my fave too!

Please balme me baby ;)

It was an amazing show. So active and creative. I wish the theater were only darker so I didn't judge so many other people on what they wore.

I'm realizing I'm not really a people person.

WHAT!?!?! No Parade? SIGH, ok. The parade was awesome and fun. Why do we want to go to this park late and leave early? Can't we just ride Expedition Everest like 10 times while people are all at the parade? Maximize efficiency woman!

Irish is a distant succor to Scottish. They don't know how to make the most of an animal (food, musical instrument AND companion ;) ) but they do make decent beer.

We will also re-visit the lego and Star Wars shops, right? RIGHT!?

And the Candy. I will promise to think about running for 2 miles for each candy I get to eat at Goofy's Candy Company.

We will all probably be pooped by then so back to the Resort we go to shovel ourselves into bed!

Here are some pics from our last trips to AK.....

DAY 5 - ALL DAY AT THE MAGIC KINGDOM

This Day will again be an early start for us! ;) We have an 8:05am ADR at Liberty Tree Tavern. When we asked the girls where they wanted to eat on this trip, they both shouted out at exactly the same time - "CRYSTAL PALACE" :) They were both more thanjust a little disappointed when I told them them that their beloved CP was going to be closed for refurb during our trip. :sad2:

So, for this trip CP will be replaced by LTT. The food sounds yummy and I am actually excited about the fact that it is served Family Style! I found it a little stressful to try to get over to the buffet while watching for characters! I really hope that we will be able to finish and be at the Fantasyland Rope Drop for 9am! :cool1:

Here is the list of what we hope to accomplish on this day at MK - anybody wanna make bets on how much we actually are able to accomplish? ;)

Dumbo
Peter Pan
Winnie the Pooh
Tea Cups
Mickey's Philharmagic (may skip if we did it on our first evening)
Carrousel
IASW
Haunted Mansion
Big Thunder Mountain
LUNCH - depending on how hungry we are we may share some CS (CHH)
Pirates of the Caribbean
Aladdin's Flying Carpets
Jungle Cruise
Swiss Family Treehouse
Enchanted Tiki Birds
Grab a snack
Find a seat for Parade
Watch Parade
Shop on Main St
Leave for POFQ

Once we arrive back at POFQ, assuming it is nice weather, I think we will all be ready for a swim! :thumbsup2 If it is NOT nice and sunny warm, perhaps we will do a tour of playgrounds at POFQ/POR! We have no further plans for the rest of the day so we will most likely just hang out and enjoy our resort!
We will probably eat at one or the other of the CS eateries at POFQ/POR! I will definitely be trying some Beignets this evening! mmmmm mmmmmm :cloud9:

I am also disappointed at missing the Crystal Palace. It was food so rich I'm still wearing it (not on my face, on my belly). That and the chance to use the "onomatopoeia" line with Eeyore.

:cool1:

Pet peves:

1. Rushing through a buffet meal because characters are spaced 5 minutes apart. Here is my memory of Chef Mickeys:

A) Get awesome food in buffet.
B) Scarf food.
C) Characters parade out and start visiting tables in a clockwise fashion. They start immediately to my right.
D) Wait to take picture of kids with Mickey.
E) Bolt to the buffet line for seconds of ribs.
F) Nearly bowl over a slow moving kid with poor co-ordination when sprinting back to the table to photograph Donald.
G) Repeat until you leave.

2. Having an appointment RIGHT after a buffet. When filled to capacity the stomach is inclined to push back on the area of least resistance, or what goes down with grace and joy returns with acid.

Here is the list of what we hope to accomplish on this day at MK - anybody wanna make bets on how much we actually are able to accomplish? ;)

Dumbo - Long wait, but if you get bored look close to see the groundhogs impaled on the apertures.
Peter Pan - Awesome use of black light to best effect.
Winnie the Pooh - Neat ride, but Peter pan makes better use of the height.
Tea Cups - I was born for this ride. Emily and I do our best to detach our internal organs from our skeletal structure on here. WAY FUN!
Mickey's Philharmagic (may skip if we did it on our first evening) - Unless it rocks. Then I'll put my foot down, if you'll let me dear.
Carrousel - Yes, I know, search for Cinderella's horse. This ride is cooler after dark.
IASW - :scared1:
Haunted Mansion - Funny the younger one likes this one, but Emily (and I) are nervous.
Big Thunder Mountain - Emily was bored by her 3rd run on this last year. That's my girl!
LUNCH - depending on how hungry we are we may share some CS (CHH) - I will not share any.
Pirates of the Caribbean - x3 pirate:
Aladdin's Flying Carpets - Wallet stays in backpack on this ride. Don't let camel spit on us.
Jungle Cruise - Maybe we'll get the same girl last year, she was HILARIOUS. What was her name?
Swiss Family Treehouse - I will most likely make a snake noise in this one to scare Kim. Pictures for the rest of the day will include me with my new black eye.
Enchanted Tiki Birds - MUST... DO... IAGO... IMPRESSION! I did impressions during a fringe festival a few years ago and learned how to do Gilbert Gottfried's voice. Useful in two places: Elevators and DisneyWorld.
Grab a snack - And eat snack.
Find a seat for Parade - I must remember to pack inflatable cushions. If it get the hemorrhoid kind no one will think I'm a wuss.
Watch Parade - And take pictures.
Shop on Main St - I think I'll get a wicker hat.
Leave for POFQ - AWWWWWWWW

You forgot to mention "Not lose my wallet" and "Have Ken meet Stacey".

For a thrill ride guy I LOVE Magic Kingdom for the rides with the kids. They love them and I can enjoy the detail work on them.

Except for "It's a small world". I could enjoy that ride after a tympanic membrane rupture.

We picked up a CD set last year of the music from the rides from each park. An awesome buy. I am an armchair researcher in neurological science and I find how we store memories fascinating. We remember through all the senses and so if you can use something other than sight as a memory you will be better able to revisit the moment. Hearing the "Pirates of the Caribbean" soundtrack does that for me.

Once we arrive back at POFQ, assuming it is nice weather, I think we will all be ready for a swim! :thumbsup2 If it is NOT nice and sunny warm, perhaps we will do a tour of playgrounds at POFQ/POR! My planning has been stymied by the fact that I lent out my PassPorter and ALL my planning info is inside of it :scared1: Must get that back so I can further agonize over and tweak my ADRs...

Cheryl

Hey Cheryl! :goodvibes

Good to hear from you! Glad you are feeling better! :) I lent out my books too! Just recently got them back. Hope your planning is going well! I am kind of stumped on what to do next! I guess perhaps I should just focus on this PTR huh? :thumbsup2

Hey Folks! :goodvibes

Sorry I have been absent for a few days - things have been really nutso around here!

Ken and Emily are involved in the Dinner theatre that our church does EVERY Christmas and that is now only half completed! They have 3 more shows to do - this Thursday, Friday and Saturday. After that I will have Ken home for a couple days and then the Drama team starts to get ready for Christmas EVE!

I have been busy doing what I do around the house plus doing childcare, doctors appts grocery and Christmas shopping and trying to keep everybody somewhat healthy! ;)

I hope to do up the next Day's plan soon! Just waiting for Ken to do his take on the previous Day! He really wants to do a map for MK!! :) He said he will TRY to get to it tonite or tomorrow. The poor man is completely exhausted. He slept for 4 hrs yesterday - and that was AFTER having a good noghts sleep!

Hope everyone is doing well! :goodvibes

I loaned my books to a friend, got them back, planned more - but I didn't write anything in my passporter. Good thing, since I just passed them off to another friend! I am going to WDW WITHOUT it!! Aren't I brave? I am still bringing my cruise passporter though. I'm not as familiar with the cruise to leave my book behind. I've got my itinerary and all the info for WDW in my iPhone.

Kim - I know what you can do - pray that no one in my family gets sick and that the weather stays nice for our trip! Thanks! I want more PTR stuff from you and Ken - Hurry I'm leaving on Thursday and will want to read it all in the car!

Yes! It is the 4 Parks, One World CD set! They are so amazing! I don't ever get tired of listening to the music! It's wonderful! You definitely should get them - totally worth the $$$! :thumbsup2

I am so totally excited about seeing this one! Not quite sure how the girls will do though! They are super enthralled with 3-D stuff! I guess they can just take their glasses off if they don't like it? :)
I was another one of those people that had the CD in my hands and didn't get it. :headache: It is a definite purchase this time around! As long as it has Illuminations on it I'm happy. Does it have Epcot's Tapestry of Dreams on it?

I know what you mean. I haven't posted on my PTR much either. Just haven't found much time with the holidays and being a childcare provider certainly takes away from my DIS time. How many kids do you have? I used to just have 2 plus my own 2 and recently took on 2 more and it made a HUGE difference in my day. This is what I look like these days by 5:30pm :faint: and my house looks like this little fella :stitch2::stitch: had his way with it. I have never had a better job though! :cloud9:

You ARE brave! :thumbsup2 I think that this year I will just take my Journal and maybe my new 2010 passporter when I get it! Should be in stores in a week or so!

I have been praying for your Family AND Shawna's too! I will continue for the length of your trip until you are safely home! :) I can't believe you guys are leaving so soon! I am so excited for y'all! I can't wait to hear ALL about the trips from both of you! PLEASE take tonnes of pics! I don't know if I will ever have the fortune to get to WDW at Christmas so I will need to live vicariously through both of you! :worship:

No, it doesn't have Illuminations on it! In fact the only "non ride" music it has on it is the Epcot entrance Music and the "walking right down the middle of MAin St" song! Oh yeah and the "All Aboard" song from the WDW railroad.

I only have 1 little girl right now and after Christmas break I will just be doing after school stuff! I decided that I needed a break! Some time to focus on Me for a while! I have been doing childcare part time and full time since Natalie was 15 mos! It is time for a break! :cool1: I know what you mean about that pesky stitch though! It is all I can do to keep the toys picked up and put away each day! ;)

Well, I see that my darling husband has posted his next map so I best be of to take a look at it! :)

I don't know if you read on my other post (I think the Snowbird one) we aren't doing disney next year. Mike said we can go to NYC!! And EUROPE!!! So,... I am ok with skipping disney for a year or two to do that!!! The kids are big enough to do something longer and a little tougher. So...I gotta take an enormous amount of pictures to get us through till next time!! 4 Days!!! I hope to be mostly packed by Thursday night!

I will be taking lots of pictures for sure!! We're very excited, mostly packed. Just a lot of last minute stuff to do.

Ken - I LOVE your maps and comments - you are so funny!
I had a bunch of comments I wanted to make, but have now forgotten most of them! I would be one of the people getting sick watching you on the teacups.

Isn't there a different CD that might have Illuminations and all that? I'll check when I go because I will want that too! I have Fantasmic music as my ringtone on my cell phone.

Deja vu! So now I'm planning to take a family trip to England in summer 2011!! I can't believe it! DD8 says, I don't want to fly over an ocean! I said, you don't mind going on a cruise IN the ocean! CHAPTER 6: A Sleep in Day and our Return to Epcot!

This day is going to be a bit different for us! No jumping out of bed at the crack of dawn, no rush for the busses, no jamming granola bars in our faces at 7:30am!

This day will start when we wake up! Sometime after that we will make our way over to The POLY! We have a 10:25am ADR @ 'Ohana! :thumbsup2 We will be dining Hawaiian Style with Lilo and Stitch this morning! :yay: I am so excited about this ADR! I have heard so many great things about it! Ken and the girls are excited to see Stitch and I am SO VERY THRILLED about actually exploring the Poly IN THE DAYLIGHT!!! :woohoo: We had supper there last time but it was already dark out when we got there so... :sad2:

After we finish our meal we plan to wander around the grounds and Great Ceremonial Hall to check out the Poly and all it wondrous beauty! :yay: I have seen so many beautiful pictures of the place, I can't wait to see it with my own eyes! :)

After our time of exploration, we will walk over to the TTC and catch the Monorail to Epcot!

The Plan for this day is really not a plan at all! ;) We will do whatever we didn't do on our previous Epcot day and revisit the some our favourites! We will definitely be visiting Innoventions at some point because Ken has recently found out about the Sum of all Thrills! He is SO excited to do this! What more could a thrill ride Junkie ask for? First you get to build/design your own roller coaster and THEN you get to ride it! WOW!!! :cheer2:

Emily has made one request for this day as well! She wants to visit France so her little sister can visit with Aurora and Mama can have a Cappuccino and a treat from Boulangerie Patisserie! Have I ever mentioned how sweet this girl of mine is? :lovestruc

Natalie is considering riding Maelstrom but is definitely pushing for a return trip to see the Japanese Drummers! :thumbsup2 She is also very much excited about Spaceship Earth! She wants to "stop beside the garage again" so "Daddy can see the computers getting built!" Such sweet thoughtful girls I have! princess:

We have a 6:15 ADR for supper @ Biergarten! Now who do you suppose requested the return to this particular place??? Could it have been my wonderful beer and sausage lovin' hubby? Why, YES, it WAS!!! This was his #1 request for ADRs when we dicided we were going back to WDW! What can I say? The man loves him some sausage! ;)

After our German sausage feast, we plan to stroll the WS a wee bit and decide on THE PERFECT place from which to enjoy Illuminations! :cool1: We didn't see it last time as the girls were completly wiped after a long day of park hopping! :sad1: The last time I saw Illuminations was MArch of 1994!

Ken and I are both VERY excited to see this! Emily will enjoy it for sure! We are a little nervous about how our little fraidycat Nat will react to the noise! Last year she enjoyed Wishes while sitting in the ground with her fingers firmly planted in her ears! Her fear of loud noises has improved a GREAT deal over the last year but she still has a tendency to react strongly when surprised by sudden loud noises! I really hope that she will be able to enjoy the show!

Once Illuminations has ended we will decide on our exit strategy. If the girls are UBER tired we will more than likely go through the International Gateway and catch a cab from the nearest resort, which I believe is the Beach Club? If they are up to the challenge of facing "The Wall of Humanity" then we will slowly make our way to the exit along with the other thousands of people and wait as patiently as we can to catch our bus back to POFQ! I wonder how many busses we will have to wait for this time? :confused3 When we left AK last year after PM EMH we had to wait for 3 buses before we could get on!:scared1:

This will conclude our time at Epcot for this trip so which ever way we choose to leave we will be bidding goodbye to our second favourite park until the next time are able to visit! :sad1:

Here are some photos from our previous days at Epcot! Enjoy! :)

Sounds like a great day Kim! We just got back today and of course, I'm on the boards! Also having a child with a fear of loud sudden noises (also improving), I would advise you to pay attention to where the speakers are around the world showcase when choosing your viewing spot for Illuminations. We sat by Mexico and were RIGHT under a speaker. Thank goodness I brought the earplugs! I'm going to do a TR eventually after I upload my hundreds of pics, so I'll fill you in on all the details! It was a great trip though!

CRAZY!!! WOW, I don't think Ken would ever be brave enough to drive more than 15 hrs at a time! Our highways up here are a little nutty sometimes! Especially the stretch between here and the Manitoba border - it is only 2 lanes! :scared1:

We arrived to our ADR a bit early. I think it was closer to 10:00. And they got us in within about 5 minutes. I think we were there for 45 minutes to an hour. After breakfast we explored the Poly a bit and did some shopping in the gift shop. I am thinking we got to Epcot around noon. So you should have plenty of time to make it there by 1:00. Ohana might take a little longer than Kona because of the characters. But then maybe not, because we had to order at Kona and at Ohana your food is brought right out to you.

By arriving on the monorail we were able to see the wait time for TT before we even got to the park. Pretty cool!

SLIGHT CHANGE IN PLANS!!!

We have decided to extend our DHS day! :cool1:

Since it will be the ONLY day we will be able to be there we have decided to make the most of it! :woohoo:

Originally I had thought that there would not be enough to keep us there for a full day BUT as it turns out, there IS!!!

The girls WANT to see Beauty and the Beast again, the parade looks like it is worth sticking around for AND I was able to change our ADR @ Sci Fi from a lunch to a dinner! :) We will now be dining there at 5:55pm! :woohoo: I have been assured that if we want to eat the "lunchtime burger" that IT IS available at suppertime as well! :thumbsup2

Now I have to come up with a touring plan for an all day adventure at DHS! I want to make sure that we see everything that we want to! :surfweb:

I am right now trying to come up with a plan for lunch now that we will be eating at SCi Fi for supper! We ate at Pizza Planet last time so we want to try something new. My short List contains the following places - Backlot Express, Fairfax Fare, Starring Rolls amd Studio Catering Co. :surfweb:

Thanks to you Shelly I know not to eat at ABC! Thanks for the heads up! :thumbsup2

Does anybody have any other suggestions or opinions on good places to eat?

My girls are both excellent eaters who actually prefer HOT food rather than sandwiches but are NOT picky AT ALL so will pretty much be happy with just about anything!

Ken likes his food HOT and LARGE portions! He is still determined to eat that ginormous cupcake from Starring rolls however.....;)

I agree with Shelly on the ABC Comm. We used to eat there but it got grosser (is that a word?) and grosser (I'm going to pretend that it is.;)) until we simply refused to eat there anymore.

If you don't want to eat at Pizza Planet, I think I'd suggest Backlot Express. We've been able to find seats there and the food is not too bad. To me, the counter service food at Hollywood Studios is all kind of bleh.

We don't care much for the CS at DHS either. We had some pastries from Starring Rolls - very yummy chocolate croissants, but never ate lunch there. DH and the girls got some food from the place over by the B&TB and Fantasmic theaters. The name escapes me. It was standard burgers, and nuggets, fries etc.

We ate the same burger place...and one of my kids got a turkey leg over at the next little spot over. It was our dinner...it's all kinda boring food, but we did stay a full day! You will have plenty to do..and there is always the funny and crazy Streetmosphere People to watch if you have some down time!

Was it Rosie's All American Cafe? Depending on where we are in the park at the time, this is also one of our alternatives! :)

We ate the same burger place...and one of my kids got a turkey leg over at the next little spot over. It was our dinner...it's all kinda boring food, but we did stay a full day! You will have plenty to do..and there is always the funny and crazy Streetmosphere People to watch if you have some down time!

I am actually getting really excited about all the things we will be able to do and see there! :cool1: I told Ken about the leg lamp and he is now determined to find it! :lmao: The Christmas Story is his fave Christmas movie! I wonder if it will still be there? hmmmm

YAY for more time at DHS. We have eaten CS at ABC, Backlot Express and Pizza Planet. This time I am thinking is we go CS we will do Studio Catering Company.

I go my ME mail today - so your's is on it's way!:thumbsup2

SCC is also an option, I guess it really will depend on where we are in the park around 11ish! We got our ME stuff yesterday! :yay:

Kim - I forgot to answer your questions about our trip down to FL - Since we left at dinner time - we only stopped about twice that night. We stopped in Tomah WI on I-94. That's about 2 hours from our house. Then we didn't stop again until Belvidere IL at an Oasis (it's pretty nice, has lots of food options and gas station. Then we just kept on driving. The kids were out cold, so we didn't stop. We usually stop at the rest stops on the interstates. I'd have to check on the specific route that we took. We drove around Chicago and into Indiana, turned south and went through Indianapolis, through IN to Louisville, KY, then to Nashville TN, Chattanooga, then into Georgia and down through Atlanta... to FL. I slept through IN and KY. Dave says that he went through the bigger cities at night and that helped him stay awake. The GPS had a different route planned.

I'm uploading pictures to photobucket, so hopefully will have a TR up soon! I'll post the link.

WOW!!! Thanks Sheree! That sounds pretty close the route that I researched on Mapquest! :thumbsup2 I think that if we ever did drive we would definitely do it in 2 days at least, maybe 3. No straight throught the night drives for this family! :) You guys are SO BRAVE!!! :goodvibes

Oh probably more impatient and crazy than brave! My DH did pretty much all the driving - I drove some the morning after the all-nighter. He loves to drive and it is nice and quiet during the night when the kids are sleeping. It's just not too comfortable to sleep in a car! If you have the time and the patience, I would recommend you take 3 days. I just hate driving long trips because I'm so anxious to get there!!

I think it would be so much fun to drive over a few days and see some of the U.S along the way! :thumbsup2 I haven't driven south of Minneapolis! I would love to see what that part of the country looks like! Seeing the scenery change as we get closer to the south would so very interesting! :) Or perhaps I just have an overly romantic idea of what it would be like?:confused3 I hear that Georgia is just really big and boring! ;) My favourite part of our first moments in Florida is seeing Palm Trees! :cool1:

Sadly, a lot of the trip is big and boring!! HA! You could look for some "interesting sites" like a big ball of yarn or something to stop and see! LOL!
Unless I'm going somewhere with a scenic route, like through the rockies or something, I'd just as soon get there quick!

Well, thank you! I'm glad someone thinks I know something! My kids sure don't seem to! Therefore, you get a sneak peek at my info!
Off the top of my head, I want to say around 8 pm. It was definitely dark out, but it was raining. My notes (in my phone since I forgot a journal) don't specify what time it was. DH thinks that it was 8. So I guess it was 8.

I have a question for you too - how do you set up the title when you update and put the update info in the title? Did you do chapter links at the front end? I suppose I could go look. How does one do that? Can you tell I'm getting ready to start? Still working on a title.

So it took you a little bit more than 24 hrs? That is a LONG HAUL!!! :scared1:

After you do your original post, you can always go back and edit it for updates. Go to your first post in the TR and then click on Edit. The edit screen will come up and then click on advanced edit. You should then be able to edit your title bar!

I did leave space for chapter links but have yet to figure out how to do them! You can use your second post after your introduction and just say something like "saved for chapter links!"

CHAPTER 6: A Sleep in Day and our Return to Epcot!

This day is going to be a bit different for us! No jumping out of bed at the crack of dawn, no rush for the busses, no jamming granola bars in our faces at 7:30am!

I plan to stock up on sleep before we travel and supplement with copious amounts of caffeine. A Coca-cola split between the wee ones and we'll be rip-roarin' to go by 7. As much as I *like* to sleep in I don't want to miss a minute while I'm at Walt Disney World.

:sad2:
I can see quite fine at night, I'm used to being in the dark...

Hey, fun game I just thought of: break a plate and blame it on Stitch!

After we finish our meal we plan to wander around the grounds and Great Ceremonial Hall to check out the Poly and all it wondrous beauty! :yay: I have seen so many beautiful pictures of the place, I can't wait to see it with my own eyes! :)

As opposed to the spare set of eyes she claimed from a stranger...

After our time of exploration, we will walk over to the TTC and catch the Monorail to Epcot!

Monorail-Monorail-Monorail-Monorail!

Seriously the BEST mode of transport EVER. I remember back in grade school in the '80s when the Monorail was all new and cool. I have loved it since. It is tragic with the accidents that it has had in recent months, and it adds a sombre mood to what amounts to a ride in and of itself.

Is this better than "It's a Small World"? Deductive reasoning says: 'YES!'

WOW!!! :cheer2:

My goal is to make a ride I can't ride myself. I'll follow this up by eating a hamburger larger than my head.

I wonder if I can stretch the laws of physics on this... Maybe I should research the physics engine.

Emily has made one request for this day as well! She wants to visit France so her little sister can visit with Aurora and Mama can have a Cappuccino and a treat from Boulangerie Patisserie! Have I ever mentioned how sweet this girl of mine is? :lovestruc

Don't the Italian's make the better Cap? I would rather try the cheese. Or the chocolates. Or the wine. So long as we do this AFTER the Sum of All Fears, lest it get messy.

Natalie is considering riding Maelstrom but is definitely pushing for a return trip to see the Japanese Drummers! :thumbsup2 She is also very much excited about Spaceship Earth! She wants to "stop beside the garage again" so "Daddy can see the computers getting built!" Such sweet thoughtful girls I have! princess:

I put 3:1 odds against the small one take on the Maelstrom. Maybe she can be bribed with some Scandinavian chocolate...

The Japanese Drummers were awesome. It was a pity the last time there were drunken boors tapping the ceremonial instruments. If I had a katana I would have taken the Samurai code seriously. Happy I was NOT! (Sound like Yoda I DID)

And yes, the kids are considerate, but we must remember we are 3 days from Christmas and the Elf Audit may have some bearing on that.

The man loves him some sausage! ;)

For the record:
I AM STRAIGHT.
Seriously, am I the ONLY one who was uncomfortable with that wording?

Biergarten is the place. I do love tubular meat. I love Mustard Pickle (two great tastes that taste great together!). I love beer with greater than 4% alcohol volume (sorry Coors, Bud, etc). The thicker it is the better.

I could eat at the Biergarten for about 5 years before I quit. From heart failure.

I love the family meal setting too. I found Disney to be very secluded. One simply doesn't strike up conversation with strangers there. So to be perched at a table where you must make conversation is a treat. But I'm an extrovert.

Unfortunately most of the German I know comes from the lyrics of my favourite band, Rammstein. For those who don't know mix Metallica's style with 2-live crew's lyrics, but in German.

This is another vaguely exciting aspect of this trip. All I know is that these will be spectacular fireworks to music. Clearly an understatement which only adds to the anticipation. (shudders with excitement)

Earplugs are an option.

Wait, why aren't we taking the monorail?

This will conclude our time at Epcot for this trip so which ever way we choose to leave we will be bidding goodbye to our second favourite park until the next time are able to visit! :sad1:

Here are some photos from our previous days at Epcot! Enjoy! :)

Dinner on Chinese New year. For some reason the waitress didn't recommend me trying the more challenging dishes. I think it was because my shirt was set to 'stupid'.

This would be an awesome drinking game, except for the landings. If you don't know what I'm talking about you clearly haven't seen the people hanging around the British pavilion.

That bench was the most comfortable place to rest in Morocco.

http://i463.photobucket.com/albums/qq354/kdhorton08/DSC02295.jpg

This is great if you've gained weight but don't want to show it. If the kids were using their masks you would have no idea they were there at all

I'm starting to think of fun things for the kids for our 16 hour drive in a month- yup, just a month to go! :woohoo:

Sheree and Shawna- Can't wait to read all about your trips!!!

A couple of suggestions for spending time in the car -

STICKERS!!! we have a great little dollar store near our house and they sell sticker books for a buck each!

finger puppets!!!

pipe cleaners - let them bend and twist till they get bored!

alphabet game - find something that starts with "A" then "B" and so on! it will take up at least an hour because where are you gonna find something that starts with "Q" in the middle of nowhere?

variation on the above for smaller kids - colour game - find something "red" then "blue" etc!

surprise bags - I do this for my kids when we go on long car trips and they love it! Prepare bags in advance for each child to give to them at every 100 miles or so! I use paper lunch bags and put in different little things like stickers and a sticker book, crayins and a small colouring book, snacks, etc!

break up the time with a couple movies a couple naps and a few food/rest/potty breaks and you will good to go!

We do 13 hr car trips EVERY summer to my SILs house so my kids are seasoned travellers!

CHAPTER 7: A Long Awaited VERY Special Breakfast AND Our Last day at The Magic Kingdom

I am trying so very hard to NOT be sad as I write about this, our very last day in the parks! :sad1:

This day will begin quite early again as we have, as the title mentions, a LONG AWAITED VERY SPECIAL BREAKFAST to attend this morning! :cool1: Does anybody want to wager a guess as to where it will be????? ;) NO??? Well, I will just have to tell you then! ;)

We will be dining at 1900 Park Fare!!!!! :yay: :cheer2: :dance3:

The girls are SUPER excited about this breakfast! They chose this one based on 3 things - Mary Poppins, Winnie the Pooh and THE FOOD! :lmao: Yes my 8 & 6 year old daughters were actually drooling as I read the menu to them! :rotfl:

Our ADR is for 8am so we will need to be up and going by 6:30 at the latest so we can catch a bus to MK and then ride the Monorail or boat over to the Grand Floridian! Since I know my husband so very well, it will most likely be the Monorail! ;)

After our breakfast is complete we will head over to MK and do as much as is humanly posible by about noon. At that point we will head back to POFQ for some much needed rest and to begin the dreaded horrer of PACKING :scared1:

At about 4ish or 5ish we will head on back to MK as there is PM EMH there that evening! :cool1: We will grab some chow somewhere inside the park, maybe Cosmic Rays???, ride some rides, grab a spot for Wishes and enjoy that and then at 8pm will enjoy 3 MORE HOURS of MAGIC KINGDOM BLISS!!!!! :cool1:  :yay: :woohoo:

When we are finally kicked out of the park, we will drag our weary carcasses back to our beautiful resort, sleep for a few hours and then....Oh that is a story for another chapter though isn't it? ;)

up next: the dreaded goodbye :sad2:

Thanks for the car ride suggestions! I already have put together a little backpack for each of them filled with a few surprises. I forgot about stickers though- gotta get some to throw in there. We play I Spy lots in the car and sing songs and such. They did REALLY well last January and I'm hoping this trip goes just as smoothly.

Of course I do have to fit non-disney stuff in there as well! :rolleyes1 general household chores and I promised myself I would use some of that time to get back o the gym! :dance3:

It was VERY cool to see it! :cool1: One of the sponsers is Royal Bank. We just happened to be standing near a branch and some volunteers were handing out tambourine noisemakers to ALL the waiting onlookers. We got some of those! A little while later a Coca Cola truck came by and was passing out flags and small bottles of Coke to the kids in the crowd! :thumbsup2
The runner we saw was one of our local High school teachers! :)

I also got to see the torch again today from the window of my gym while I was working out! At that point it was on its way out of the city towards Manitoba! :)

Just a little jealous of your 30 hours of bliss this week. I had a new little one start today so I am definitely ready for this trip. :crazy2: I have all 6 napping now and Andrew is in school. Enjoy those 30 hours for me!

Oooh Ooooh a DISmeet!!!! Pick me! Pick me!!!! :lmao: Our dinner at Coral Reef is at 4:35 and we will be hanging around Epcot until Illuminations starts. Perhaps we can pick a place to watch them together! The 27th is the ONLY day I actually have a plan for!

Oh all right! You may have the pleaseure of meeting me too! ;) Keep working on that plan girl, we just have to find a time to meet up! :)

I bet you're relieved!! Have you started packing yet??? ;)

Well.....sort of! ;)

Nat is home sick today with a nasty head cold so she and I went through her summer clothes bin and picked out some outfits that might be good for our trip. I threw them in the wash and will put them in a suitcase when they are dry.

My "packing room" also doubles as our In Law suite and the In Laws will be here tomorrow night so I can't start packing until after they leave! ;)

We are trying to take as little checked bags as possible! Maybe 1 big and one small. I just found out that there are (so far, knock on wood) no baggage restrictions for people flying domestically within the states so we should be fine for taking on our carry on bags! :thumbsup2

Yes, it did finally come in today's mail! :) Glad to have it although now I am wondering why I was so anxious to have it? :confused3 I suppose it just makes the trip that much more real! :) I am not sure why but I am not really excited yet!

I have been so busy helping other people with their trips that I haven't had a chance to really get excited about our own! :upsidedow

Natalie should be able to go back to school tomorrow so I will have some time to myself to get a few things done. Maybe I will get some lists made! :thumbsup2

Hi Kim! :wave2:
I'm 13 pages late, but I'm here! Not sure how I missed your report from the beginning. :confused3 Anyway...
I'm loving your PTR! :goodvibes Your plans sound great. And Ken, you crack me up!
I hope you love POFQ. We stayed there a while back (2002?) and really enjoyed it. And I'm glad to know we're not the only family who can't sleep in while at WDW! We're too excited to sleep! :cool1:

Well by golly we gotta get you there! Go make some lists. Take a look at those park maps and picture your girls faces at each of their favorite attractions. Don't forget to think about a couple of meets with your fellow DIS friends- THAT should get you in the Disney Mood!!!!

Maybe a few bouncy friends will help...

HEY PALS AND GALS!!! :goodvibes

Hope I haven't lost any of you! So sorry I have been so A-WOL lately! Transitioning into my life as a less busy lady has been more busy than I thought it would be! :lmao:

It turns out that I will still be doing some childcare during the week but far less than I was doing before SO I will still have lots of time to devote to the many other things that are important in my life! :thumbsup2

Let's see now...where did I leave off? hmmm.......oh yeah, our last day...WAH! :sad2:

Since we will have been up so late the night before, we will probably sleep in as late as we can! Unfortunately that will only be until about 8am!

Our flight is set to depart from MCO at about 12:45 pm I believe so that means we will have to catch our DME shuttle at about 9:30 or so!

I assume there will be a flurry of last minute packing up and gathering of objects scattered around the room! We will acquire for our selves some breakfast at some point and make sure that all our DDP credits have been used up too!

We will depart from POFQ sad I am sure but knowing that some day (don't know when :sad1:) we hope to go back again! ;)

Upon arrival at the airport we will do all the necessary check in things and proceed to check our luggage (Sun Country does not participate in RAC). Once that is all taken care of we will head to the food court to acquire some lunch and coffee. Last year we ate at McDonalds. This year I hope to improve upon the quality of nummies we consume!

After eating we will make our way to our gate and await our return flight back to the COLDNESS!!!

We will be staying another night in Minneapolis and driving home the next day! :)

So, my friends...there it is... that is what I THINK will happen on our trip! I wonder how it will really go?

up next: packing mania and my version of organization!

You will love the French Quarter, and your daughters will adore the pool. The first time we stayed there my son was 6 and he has always referred to it as the King Triton Pool, the slide is so much fun. The resort is so quaint, never having to walk mare than 10 minutes to get anywhere. Have a great trip!

This part sounds so sad. I hate that last morning. Usually by the end of a trip I'm ready to get back home, but gee, for some reason that's not the case when leaving Disney! I don't suppose that happens to anyone else around here?

So what date and time are you scheduled to arrive back in Mpls??? Hmmmm.

I know! I am sad right now just thinking about it! Disney seems to be the only place I never want to go home from! When we walked out of the Magic Kingdom for the last time last year, I felt like throwing myself to the ground and having a big ole temper tantrum right there on the ground! :lmao:

Our flight gets into MSP at 3:15pm on Monday February 1st! We are planning another trip to MOA that night as well! ;) Might even go to IKEA too! :cool1:

When we got our schoolbread we also got a Cloudberry Horn. I loved the horn so much more than the schoolbread. You definitely need to try schoolbread, to just say you have, and you may like it... I like pastries etc. and was not a fan of the schoolbread.

On my list... Strawberry Shortcake at Sunshine Seasons in Epcot FW.
Strawberry Shorotcake sundae at Mrs. Pott's in MK is also very yummy, very large and very much worth the snack credit.

Don't forget those cupcakes at Starring Rolls.

OOOH you're making me hungry. Wonder where I could find a chocolate croissant or a sweet cream cheese pretzel around here?

Actually we get Schwan's delivery and they have a sweet cream cheese pretzel that I keep forgetting to try. Next time. I know it wouldn't be as good as at MK (cuz all food tastes better at WDW), but it would help get me through until the next trip!

How's the packing going??? ;)

There were a lot of good looking cookies at the Main Street bakery I saw in someone's PTR. There was one shortbread shaped like a Mickey with the ears dipped in chocolate!! YUMMM!!

I will have to go find a picture of that Cloudberry Horn - it sounds interesting! I think the only reason I want to try school bread is just so that I can say that I HAVE tried it! As far as the cupcakes at DHS, we are plkanning to have luch at Starring rolls on our DHS day so those ginormous cupcakes will be a part of our CS lunch that day! :cool1:

I totally know how you feel! I am so overwhelmed by packing right now! There are piles of clothes and suitcases ALL OVER my living room! :headache: We were trying to avoid too many baggage fees but trying to cram all our clothes into just a few bags is stressing me out! Plus we are bringing boxes of Pop Tarts and Granola bars for breakfast plus all the liquidy things like sunscreen and toothpaste that HAVE to go into checked luggage - Aaaahhhhhh! My brain hurts! :upsidedow

I am REALLY looking forward to this vacation now!!! Once I am in the car on Sunday morning, I will be fine! Until then I will be a basket case of stress and lists! :faint:

I think for supper on Monday night I will be having a Dole Whip and some Corn Dog nuggets! :woohoo:

I LOVE Schwan's! We used to have it here for a bit a long time ago! Ken's sister gets it out on their farm - she always gets extra when we are there for our visit every summer! I absolutely adore their Ice Cream Sandwiches! so yummy!

As I said above, packing right now is VERY stressful! :headache: I think I might have to go to square 1 and start all over agin! I just finished getting all the girls clothes into baggies and now I am secind guessing that idea - it actually seems to take up more space! Aaaarrggghhhhh!

We need a bag for our overnight stay in MSP, bags for the planes, carry ons, checked luggage - It is all just too much right now! Accuweather is NOT helping either - they keep changing the forecast on me! :headache:

Today is my day for packing frenzy. I want to take too much, simple because I am worried the weather will change at any time!
Once I know what I am taking I then want to be sure all is laundered and clean!
Only to help matters I developed a cold last night!
Positive note, it should be gone before Disney and not during!

I took a break to check the weather forcast - and that rain they were calling for is now gone... hard to tell the weather I think until we get there. I am a cold person to begin with, so I am packing for all extremes

Better get back to it!

Just try to do what you can and then take breaks...that is what I had to do...I did my food/toiletry suitcase first...then the morning we left I just put my blowdryer and my makeup bag in there and it was ready to go....
I also did the kids one at a time--suitcase, then they helped me with the backpack. I did my stuff and my carry-on last...Mike did his own because we don't agree on how to pack:rotfl:! So, he does his own bags...we just decided to go ahead and pack what we needed even if we had to pay for it...it's just too hard to try to cram it all in the carry-ons!!!!

Thanks for the encouragement Ladies! :thumbsup2

I am starting to make headway! Progress, FINALLY!!! :yay:

We sat down yesterday and sorted out ALL THE STUFF that needed doing this week and the packing that needed to be done!

My brilliant husband came up with the idea of putting each job/chore/item on a piece of paper and pinned onto a pinboard so that we could remove each item as it was done! :thumbsup2

It has given me perspective and lets me see that it is possible to do all that needs doing and that I won't go stark raving mad over the next 6 days! :rotfl2:

So far, I have mine and the girls travel clothes picked out for our drive to Minneapolis on Sunday, and our over night bag for Minneapolis is almost 75% packed!

I have most of their travel amusement stuff collected but can't pack it yet as they are using their school bags as carry on and those won't be available until they are finished school on Friday!

Our toiletries bag is somewhat packed but toothbrushes/toothpaste, deodorant etc will have to be added at the last minute as we will ned to use those things on Sunday morning!

There are still many piles of clothes all over the place because I want to wait until at least Thursday or Friday to do the final packing of our Florida clothes to have a more accurate idea of what the weather will be like! It is changing drastically every day so it is really hard to tell!

I shall keep plugging away at it! A little bit at a time! Lots of breaks in between so I don't get overwhelmed! :)

as far as toothpaste, toothbrushes, and deoderant...i just buy the travel ones at Wal-Mart...then when we are done I either put them in the travel bin or just throw them away....you are only suppose to keep toothbrushes for 3 months anyway, and if we aren't going anywhere soon I just throw them out!! Sure makes packing easier!!

I am watching the weather like a hawk. There apparently is a snowstorm a-comin'! :scared1: If we think it might be a problem, we just very well might leave here earlier or maybe even tomorrow night! So they will not be getting to meet Kim and family. I may still go, especially because I don't have a way to contact her. I gave her my numbers, but I don't want to sit here and have her wonder why I'm late. I'm hoping she hops on the boards somehow. I pm'ed her.

Anyone have a cell # for her??? PM me if you do!
Thanks!!

Hi all - just wanted to let you know that Kim and family made it to Minneapolis today. They drove about 8 hours from their home and we got a call from Kim around 2:30. Since my kiddos were on the sick side (Sarah was feeling better by then), I went to meet them by myself.

We met at the Mall of America at Lego land, so her kids could play while we visited. Let me tell you, they are the NICEST family!!! Her kids were so sweet and polite and they had little gifts for my girls. Very thoughtful! By the way Kim, I'd love a pair of those Olympic mittens, can you send me some??

Anyway, I did not get a picture of their whole family - Ken was the photographer. Here are the pics he took with my camera.

Natalie was sort of hiding behind Wall-E!! They had just been to the Disney store!

I wore my Canada shirt in their honor. The girls were so cute and excited about their trip. I told them to say hi to Mickey for me (Natalie said she would!) They are super nice and polite. The whole family is fabulous! (No they didn't bribe me to say that on their PTR!)
We visited for around a half hour, and I had to get home and check on my kids and watch the Vikings game. (It's not over yet!) But we made plans to try to meet up again on their way back from WDW!! Hopefully we can all go this time and have dinner together! Then I will get to hear all about their trip first! Our daughters are going to exchange Girl Scout cookies. They have Girl Guides in Canada and their cookies are different and they don't have as many. We are in the ordering stages here, so I said I'd make sure they get some from us!!
It was a great visit, even though it was too short!
They are off on an early morning flight tomorrow.
My kids are feeling much better and eating a bit of BRAT food. So far so good. Whew!

TTFN!

Great pictures Sheree! Thanks for posting them.

Kim- I hope you guys have a safe trip down to Orlando. I can't wait to hear all about it when you get back!

I must say, I'm a bit jealous. First, Sheree and Shawna are at WDW at the same time and get to meet up. Now, Sheree and Kim get to meet up at the MOA! These are all the Snowbirds I got to meet last January. I feel so left out. :sad1:

I'M BAAA-AACCKKK!!!!!

We had a fabulous time! It was sooooo Magical! Had lots of great things happen! I will be sure to fill everybody in on all the details!

Thanks so much Sheree for filling the gals in on our progress! We really loved visiting with you guys! Dinner last night was SO much fun! :thumbsup2

I will be getting to my TR in a few days. We came home to some sad news My Nana is at the departure gate of her earthly adventure. She is ready to go home to Jesus and see her Mama and sisters again! Good for her. Sad for us.

We will need some time to get through this process so please keep us in your thoughts and prayers over the next few days! I will be sure to check in as often as is possible!

Thanks for hanging in there with me and I promise to get to the TR as soon as possible! :)

Kim I'm glad to hear you are home safely. I'm so sorry to hear about your Nana. A friend of mine sent me a quote shortly after losing my Pop and it has always brought me comfort knowing that he was at peace.

"I'll think of her as smiling...for what else does one do in the presence of God."

My prayers are with you and your family as you say goodbye.

I am only sad for me cause I know that she will be at peace without any more pain or discomfort! She will be able to see and walk and dance and do all that things that she was missing here! :)

Thanks for the hugs!

Oh Kim!! I am so sorry about your Nana!!!! I feel for you--I remember keenly how I felt when I lost my Granny! The comfort that comes from knowing she is going to be with her Lord and Savior is such a blessing!! It does help to know that pain and limitations are over..and that she is going to be reunited with her family that is already there. I will be praying for you and your family--Love you!
