OK! We are back from our best trip ever! :woohoo: Why was it the best you might ask?! Well, some could say it was ignoring reservations that I was up at 4am to make months before so that we could continue to sample EVERY Food booth item. It could have been the fact we kept falling into the same Ditch over and over again! Maybe it was the two Wine View Lounges and all the classes that were all very worth the price to us. We think it's because of all this and the fact that we met some amazing people that will turn into life long friends - and we found a new trip mascot a few days in! ;) So come along for the pictorial journey with us. Well, at least what we can post! :thumbsup2

Our 1st restaurant review will be for Kouzzina - we arrived the night before and had a few booth items, some Ditch time(that we will include at a later date) and a drink with friends but we will start here!

We had a 7:30am ADR that we missed due to the fact that I was sleeping at 7:30am in Orlando is 4:30am in San Diego. We made it by 8 am and they were happy to see us, sat us right away and only had 6 other tables filled the whole time we were in the place.
We were told to order the Sangria but we were out till 1 am having a drink and a great get to know you the night before so we went for the pressed pot coffee!
http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t201/chelsi0422/WDW%202009/WDW2009foodandwine036.jpg

Oh wonderful Coffee - help me start the day!
http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t201/chelsi0422/WDW%202009/WDW2009foodandwine037.jpg

We went into this vacation saying we would try and split items (so we could eat more - I mean try more) so we picked the fruit plate that came with greek yogurt!

last healthy thing we will eat!

http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t201/chelsi0422/WDW%202009/WDW2009foodandwine038.jpg

I have to say this was wonderful! The yogurt was like breakfast cheese and the fruit was FRESH! Fruit at Disney is much like the Disney bacon - Never crispy and never satisfying! Not this ,it was perfect! Sweet, juicy and not a 4 day old banana to be seen! ()

Then we had the Stacked Kouzzina Breakfast-Two Poached Eggs, Kalamata Olive Toast, Artichoke Spread, and Sweet Potato Hash with choice of Bacon or Chicken Sausage
http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t201/chelsi0422/WDW%202009/WDW2009foodandwine039.jpg

This was better then I had hoped! Eggs poached perfect, Olive toast Fantastic, Artichoke was garlicky enough to scare away Dracula and the hash was SO GOOD! We opted for the chicken sausage and our server told us it was 95% fat-free, not that I care on vacation but it was amazing to me that it tasted as good as it did being low in fat!

So a bit of non-food porn but when Jason and I booked our trip in November of last year (thank you DVC) we thought we would take our red-eye out but when we saw so many friendies coming at that time and the miracle that Jason didn't have to be away most of the month, we called to see if we could add a day to our trip. Parting of the clouds and the rainbow showed - one room at the Boardwalk with a pool view and then the rest switch to a standard view.

So Pool View Day 1

http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t201/chelsi0422/WDW%202009/WDW2009foodandwine006.jpg

Standard View 9 days -or the look and see what bus it is now room!

http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t201/chelsi0422/WDW%202009/WDW2009foodandwine388.jpg

The Standard view was very quiet and we didn't have to share a wall with the one side. It was just going from a postcard of a view to the Magical Express docking station was funny to us! :lmao:

OK! So after my Kouzinna breakfast it was time to head into Epcot and see the festival center! I love the festival center!! The air conditioning is always perfect, the bathrooms are clean and quiet and I can get a glass of wine at 9am! Sweet wonder that it Disney Food and Wine Festival!

Wine in hand we picked up our class tickets for the day from the Disney mis-information station (thank you Brenda!) and headed out to do some rides until the Rope Drop of the Food Booths! :yay:

A quick comment about rope drop and the 11 am Food Booth scramble.

1st, Thank you to Cork, New Zealand, Santiago, and Rio for opening up to 15 minutes early on somedays so we could get our food fun on.

2nd, For those who felt it necessary to run into the world showcase at rope drop ... What were you running to???:confused3 Just curious. Besides I can't run without spilling the wine sample from the previous booths!

And then, I see a comment about pancake batter from Costco that squirts out of a can and I just lose it. I was at Costco a few hours ago. And I had never seen said squirty batter before. It looked like whipped cream cans, and yet, the concept seemed a bit scary. Just wanted to share how funny I found your reference to said batter.

OK! On with the day!
We headed over to the Festival Center for back to back culinery demos. We booked the Todd English at because as much as we enjoy drinks and apps at Blue Zoo we didn't think the price of the signature dinner was worth it for us. After reading and hearing a lot of reviews of it, I know we made the right choice!

Tickets for the demo!
http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t201/chelsi0422/WDW%202009/WDW2009foodandwine128.jpg

We were told when we picked up he tickets to arrive and get in line at least 1/2 hour a head of time. Since we didn't feel the need to see how orange his fake tan was going to be up close and person :rotfl2:,we got in line 15 minutes before. Lots of people a head of us and lots behind. Not a bad seat in the house in my opinion and they do have TV screens if you need them!

Menu -
http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t201/chelsi0422/WDW%202009/WDW2009foodandwine130.jpg

Four Story Hill Farm Dry Aged Beef with Anson Mills Corn Polenta, Seasonal Mushroom Ragout and Swiss Chard. Served with Figge Cellers Syrah.

We were seated 2nd section back. Great view and we happend to be next to-
Lori and the only person I know who I know who can rock a "soylet green" t-shirt!:thumbsup2

Mr. Figge came out at discussed his wine and the sample came out - We were told to take a sip and save some for the food. No I didn't take a picture because I was scared the wine would evaporate with the flash there was so little! For $5 I didn't expect a glass of wine or even a 1/2. When we go to wine country and do tasting I know what you receive but this was in a cup the size of an ant jacuzzi. It got more embarrassing when Todd English came out and was making fun of the amount poured -bad!:sad2: It was a very nice wine and Mr. Figge(-pudding:lmao: )was a good speaker.

Then Pam started to gush and you knew who was about to arrive - Yes, direct from a two hour selling spree on QVC - TODD ENGLISH!

http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t201/chelsi0422/WDW%202009/WDW2009foodandwine135.jpg

He was like a game show host and almost as bronze as George Hamilton!:rotfl2:
We talked a lot about the meat and mushrooms which I remember nothing of because of someone - :rolleyes1 who made me laugh all the way through!
Finally we got to eat -
http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t201/chelsi0422/WDW%202009/WDW2009foodandwine141.jpg

The food was wonderful, big sample and the wine did work well with it!

Here is Todd, Pam, and Figge taking questions at the end!
http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t201/chelsi0422/WDW%202009/WDW2009foodandwine144.jpg

All and all it was a lot of fun and worth $5 or even $8 if we would not have had the early ticket price for TIW!

After he was signing his book and had maybe 5 people in line. They told us he was more then happy to sign our menus also so we went a head and did that because I didn't want his book! He wasn't as happy that I was just getting the menu signed but oh well! :rotfl:

Menu
Chicken Piquant with a Barbie glass of Moet Chandon Rose!
http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t201/chelsi0422/WDW%202009/WDW2009foodandwine154.jpg

We again had a nice talk about from the wine distributer for Moet this time and he talked about how Americans see sparkling wine as a special occasion wine and we should be drinking it more often. As he said this I thought - well, send me a case or two and I'd be happy to promote that attitude at my house! :lmao:

Then Pam introduced Chef Link.
http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t201/chelsi0422/WDW%202009/WDW2009foodandwine157.jpg

He was much more soft spoken then Todd English and HE ACTUALLY COOKED! :scared1::lmao: He showed us how to cut up a chicken and it was amazing to see someone skilled able to disassemble a bird in a minute. After he went on to talk about home cooking in New Orleans. Jason and I enjoyed him very much!
Now the food!
Chicken Piquant!
http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t201/chelsi0422/WDW%202009/WDW2009foodandwine159.jpg

This was SO good. Right amount of spice and the most amazing thing, He made the chicken taste like pork! I tend to bag on chicken more then I should. I like it but it's week day food, I make chicken 10,000 ways during the week. It's easy, cheap and alright. This was GREAT! It was so great that we purchased the cookbook and we made it on Halloween! It was EASY and Wonderful.

http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t201/chelsi0422/WDW%202009/WDW2009foodandwine164.jpg

With very full stomachs we went back to check into our new room and rest for dinner. Flying Fish next! :dance3:

Glad your demos were good - we enjoyed ours as well

Also, your Koussina breakfast looked a lot better than our dinner there ;)

lastly, that picture from The Ditch makes me regret going there so early in the day - there were nigh shenanigans going on at that time ... just Tequila right as it hit noon :lmao:

I have to admit I did find Toddy quite charming even with the eerie orangy glow! :guilty: Although he was much less than charming for the signature dinner.

It's neat that he you got him to sign your menu, I wasn't buying the book just for his signature!

We were seated up front with a young gentleman who was much more excited than all the gals to see the Todd in person! He did have a neat idea, he has a chef's coat that he gets signed by the celeb chefs. He was literally giddy, because he had a saved the front chest portion for Todd to sign! Even though he had 2 of his books at home, he purchased another to be assured of getting his hearthrob's sigge!

Ok! After a clean up Jason and I went to our ADR for Flying Fish - yes, folks we can still eat!

:rotfl2::rotfl2:

We arrived when they opened and had a great table near the kitchen and bar. It never got packed that night and the service was wonderful!

http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t201/chelsi0422/WDW%202009/WDW2009foodandwine167.jpg

We tried the Sparkling Wine flight -$20.00

Iron Horse Brut Rose -Sonoma

Moet White Star -France

Lucien Albrecht Brut- France -Alsace

http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t201/chelsi0422/WDW%202009/WDW2009foodandwine168.jpg
I liked them all but I love sparkling roses so the Iron Rose was my favorite!

Then the chef brought over an amuse. He acted like he had remembered us from the year before and we have visited Flying Fish many times but I think
we were being confused with someone else. He was very sweet and it was fun talking to him! The amuse was a potato pancake with smoked salmon and yummy fishy eggs!http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t201/chelsi0422/WDW%202009/WDW2009foodandwine169.jpg

Since we had eaten all day we split everything, which is normal for us!:lmao:

We started with Our Chef's Special Thunder Appetizer: Spicy Tuna Roll $14.00

http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t201/chelsi0422/WDW%202009/WDW2009foodandwine170.jpg

It was good, not spicy but good!

Then we got - Fresh Mozzarella di Bufala, Yellow Beefsteak and Tiny Grape Tomatoes - Radicchio, Balsamico Syrup, Exotic Peppercorns, tiny basil, and Sicilian Olio Verde $15.00

http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t201/chelsi0422/WDW%202009/WDW2009foodandwine173.jpg

We love this - the tomatoes taste like they do when you grow them yourself and the cheese is SO YUMMY!

For dinner we chose the Oak-grilled Hand-harvested Maine Scallops -- Pumpkin and Mascarpone-laced Risotto di Carnarolli, Prosciutto di Parma Cracklins $36.00

http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t201/chelsi0422/WDW%202009/WDW2009foodandwine174.jpg

Then we had cappuccinos and split the Banana Napoleon with Mascarpone Cheese and Caramel!
http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t201/chelsi0422/WDW%202009/WDW2009foodandwine177.jpg

http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t201/chelsi0422/WDW%202009/WDW2009foodandwine180.jpg
This was AMAZING! Not too sweet and super crunchy! I wish I had it right now!

WOW! We ate a lot and that is only the 1st day! We did meet Jay and Brenda for a drink this night but having such a good time we forgot to take a picture!
More to come! Thanks for reading!

Just curious we were at WDW during Food and Wine but only did a few stations in Epcot as we have young children- next year we are thinking of going for a long just adults weekend- where is the festival center in Epcot- we probably walked right by it- thanks!

Loving your reviews so far. Your demos looked like a lot of fun, especially the Todd English one.

And Flying Fish looked wonderful! Glad you had a nice dinner. I also went there one night and had that tomato/mozzarella salad and the red snapper with the pumpkin risotto, and some fabulous apple tart thingy for dessert that was my favorite dessert of the trip. I wish I could have dinner there tomorrow!

I love the idea of a DIS meet at the Ditch. We'll have to plan that for next October, hopefully our dates will overlap :thumbsup2
I went out for Mexican food for dinner tonight (not that there's any real Mexican food around here...) but they definitely didn't have any margaritas on their menu like the Ditch, so I just stuck with coke:lmao:

I think he ended up making the same drink as the week before - his cordial version of a long island ice tea for Mary Ann and a gin and tonic (I know, boring) for me.

It was truly an awesome trip and amazing to meet some of our favorite Dis board people. Boy, I wish I was there right now for the final weekend and to see a band I really love - Los Lobos.

It was great that they gave us a ten minute "warning" that Taylor Dayne was starting so we could get as far away as possible - I was telling the guy at the Sam Adams booth to hurry up :rotfl2:

This tasted great but I think someone at Disney was playing a joke with the size of sausage to bun! This was the most PG picture we had from this booth!

http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t201/chelsi0422/WDW%202009%202/WDW2009foodandwine262.jpg

It was chicken and rice and A LOT of it! It was done well but nothing unusual!

Then it was time for Greg Richie from Emeril's Tchoup-Choup with Coppolas Vorte Sante wines

http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t201/chelsi0422/WDW%202009%202/WDW2009foodandwine243.jpg

http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t201/chelsi0422/WDW%202009%202/WDW2009foodandwine252.jpg

Chef Richie seemed like a very nice person and he talked about the restaurant since he had taken over - after Pam had finished gushing. Jason and I have eaten at Tchoup Chop in the past but not since Chef Richie took over. The food we had was amazing. We were excited to go to the demo but had hoped for more then pork dumplings. They were good but I guess I had expected more from him. The wine was not something I like to drink. It was a BIG buttery Chardonnay from California (in a little tiny glass)

All in all this was OK but again not our favorite!

I agree the Fisherman's was great. We were really surprised how good that etouffee was this year!

The Votre Sante was big & buttery? I know it's passe' but sometimes I'm really looking for a big buttery chard & it's getting harder to find.

Not passe' just not what I like but I thought it would be something I would pick up for Jason's Mom who LOVES that type of big and buttery chard. I would look for it and also they have one called director's cut that is on the same level of butter.

I always say - drink what you love. People who take it all so seriously have to remember one thing -

It's all just fermented grape juice!

No worries, I didn't think you were talking to me. I do understand about wine people making you feel cheap - I think they do that to try and make some strange illusion about wine. It's horrible!!! I was at an event once and asked the price of a wine and the person pouring looked like I just spit in his glass! I just laughed at him and said well, I guess I won't be buying any!:rotfl:
I personally love the Prosecco you brought to the party! It's my morning breakfast at the Festival!:rotfl2: We have a place near us called San Diego Wine Company and they have all these amazing finds on all types of really great wine! We just found a Cava for $6 that is fantastic!

Time For - Party for the Senses or how we paid to sit in a cage! :rotfl:

As anyone who has ever read a comment from me before knows, Jason and I love us some Party for the Senses! This is the 6th year in a row we have attended at least one weekend of our trip, with most vacations packing (and I mean packing) in a double header that leaves me happy - yet wondering how I can do that much food damage to myself in 2 1/2 hours! We have never been disappointed in a PFTS, but we also look at it for different things than some I have seen posted.

#1 We have never needed a seat and have never had a problem with someone telling us we couldn't "borrow" space at a stand-up stable to enjoy our food. We understand some people do need a table, I am just talking for us!

#2 Some weeks the food is better than others depending on tastes but I have never had one PFTS when we walked out thinking - "Boy! All that food really stunk a monkey!" Most of the time I walk away wondering why I can't have the recipe to 1/2 the items made!

#3 When we book events we look at it as money spent and it is our job to mess it up. Yes, the rude pushing of the past bothered me but I am also on my one big vacation a year and if I wasn't able to handle an occasional cattle call then I wouldn't be at the Happiest Place on Earth spending my time and money. I have been pushed and shoved way more trying to get a coffee near rope drop at MGM - sorry Hollywood Studios - then I have ever been at PFTS!

This all said when the special events came out this year we looked at other dinners and nothing did it for us so we went and booked our usual two weekends! We didn't know what to expect but being the kids who didn't want to be the only one's without a Wii under the Christmas tree, we also booked the Wine View Lounge for both nights.

On with the show - Jason and I never got "the call" to tell us what to do or when to show up but we knew, being Disney they would have a sign! Low and behold - SIGN
http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t201/chelsi0422/WDW%202009%202/PFTS2009/WDW2009foodandwine268.jpg

This is me after check in - It was off to the left by the coffee cart. You check in, get a wrist band and a magnet that was strong enough to pull fillings out. This was to identify you when they let you in early and walked in and out of the WVL area. They told us we could come back at 6 and they would be letting us in. We came back a few minutes before and they had already started letting people in. At this point you walk into what I used to call Holding Area 2 (outside gate being Holding Area 1); and were offered the signature drink of PFTS this year - a glass of Prosecco and Hibiscus syrup with a Hibiscus flower in it! The drink was nice, not too sweet and I saw people taking as many as they wanted. I was having one!:goodvibes

Drinks!

http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t201/chelsi0422/WDW%202009%202/PFTS2009/WDW2009foodandwine283.jpg

After a few minutes here, you are asked to walk over to the far side of the room and they check you off another list and give you a piece of paper with your name. Your party was then individually escorted to the Wine View Area and seated at your own private table. Your glass and plate were also waiting for you. You meet the person assigned to your table for the evening. They bring you water, explain that you have a full premium bar and they were happy to bring you anything you would like on top off the beverages out in the room. They really took great care of us within the WVL before, during and after PFTS.

http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t201/chelsi0422/WDW%202009%202/PFTS2009/WDW2009foodandwine291.jpg

After this you had about a 1/2 hour to eat and drink in the room until they let the rest of the Party People in! The week was considered "Classical" as a theme, something that on this week I don't think anyone payed close attention to. The food was good just not themed. They did have a band playing classical music which was a nice touch and I have to say for me better then the scary Cirque people running after me! :rotfl2:

I have some of our favorites for pictures -

All in all it was a great night. We over ate and drank as usual and I thought the food was better than the year before. I did think for this week that the wines were lacking WAY below the level in the past but lots of different alcohol - made up for it this time. The wines the following week were better but I hope that more attention is paid to that area of the party next year. We didn't spend much time at our table but it was nice to have a place to rest and leave my coat. We know that if they offer the WVL again we would definitely pay for it. Just being able to go in early and avoid the cattle call was a plus but if you are doing it just for the table, they had more than enough seating for everyone without the up charge!

When we left we received our glass to take home and this exciting bad of CWP (Crap with Purchace :lmao:)

I know that she has already posted some great pictures of that night and her cake but Jason and I wanted to take time to -
Thank You Brenda and Jay - not only did you make up our forever cool buttons and start this whole food and booze tour going for a lot of us this year but you then had a great get together where we were allowed to meet so many wonderful people! It was a perfect night and we were talking and having such a good time we regret not taking pictures with everyone!

Day Three - Sunday October 18th - Victoria and Albert's or what I like to call DO I NEED TO BUY A JACKET? IT'S COLD!:lmao:

We left Epcot for the 1st time! The main reason was we had dinner reservations with Friends at V&A that night and as you can see Jason and I cannot be trusted with food and booze at EPCOT! :rotfl2: I had to talk him out of the French Regional Lunch that day for goodness! :rotfl:
So we knew we could go light at Hollywood Studios!

So we walked on over and I was shivering! THIS IS FLORIDA!?! I have never been cold here in October in my life. I don't usually need a coat till I am back on the plane home! Lucky I did have a small jacket but - as you can see I was still COLD!

http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t201/chelsi0422/Vic%20and%20Als%20Day/WDW2009foodandwine391.jpg

Jason and I feel that this cold spell was brought on by the Mayan Calendar Predictions and that the end is coming - this is why we don't mind eating our weight worth of food on vacation! :rotfl2: Who needs a liver - it's all over in 2012!:rotfl:

So we rode my favorite ride at HS The Great Movie Ride (Great is in the title - how could it be bad?) and walked around until our lunch reservations at Brown Derby!
http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t201/chelsi0422/Vic%20and%20Als%20Day/WDW2009foodandwine418.jpg

If it's not because of the Mayan Calendar then the cold weather is our fault ... the last time it was that cold in FL when we were there in October was when Jon and Grimace joined us for vacation. Coincidence that X&Y arrived on the same day as this cold front?

I THINK NOT! :rotfl2:

The soup looks tasty ... maybe on a future trip we will keep our lunch ADR for the Brown Derby. I still sturggle with their menu, though; it just seems very limited and pricey. I think we'd be happier with the F&W booths. ;)

OK! After a Nap (OH YEA!) and some down time - A.K.A. wine in the room! We got ready for V&A!

BriarRosie - Lori contacted us in May and noticed that a few of us had our 40th Birthday this year and offered to try and set up a dinner at Victoria and Albert's! This turned out to be one of the best nights of the trip and all I have to say is anyone else eating in the dining room that night - "We would say we were sorry but it was too much FUN!" :wizard:

Plate - not for sale - taken away as soon as they seat you so you don't take a free gift! :)

And I agree ... we were having so much fun ... there were times that I thought no one else was even in the restaurant because it seemed like they were all whispering when they even bothered to speak with each other. Jason just said so much for a "formal review of V&A":rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t201/chelsi0422/Vic%20and%20Als%20Day/WDW2009foodandwine439.jpg

I think this was my Favorite of the night! It was amazing!

I like the more informal approach to this review ... that way people who might think V&A is too stuffy or refined or "high-class" will know that all with cash to spend are welcome here. ;););)

I had to request Send in the Clowns ... it was a moral imperative. :lmao: Although I did feel bad for the harpsit when we all laughed through her lovely rendition of the song ... it's just that I had Krusty the Klown singing the lyrics in my head and well, I have a hard time not sharing the mirth when King Giggle knocks on my brain.

Hi Chelsi! I am really behind, so let's see, what did I miss. PFTS looks great and it seemed like the wine view lounge worked out pretty well. I have never been to PFTS but I think I just might have to try that next year. In the past no one wanted to go with me (too expensive...) and this year I just wasn't sure how I would feel doing it by myself. Well, I guess I have a while to think about if I want to try it next year.

Nice pictures of Brenda's party! That was a really fun night!

I've never been to Hollywood Brown Derby but your food looked good. Honestly that it my least favorite park and I don't really spend too much time there anymore so I know how you feel.

Sounds like you all had a lot of fun at V&A. Can't wait for the rest of the review:thumbsup2

Oh, I'm probably the one to blame for the cold weather. After all, it was just as cold last year when I was at F&W so I definitely think it's me:goodvibes I'm sure since I complained about it being cold these last 2 years that next year I will be there for a heat wave:rotfl:

V&A Part 2

I am back and we are on to the CHEESE! Jason and I both got this, I know something else was offered but when I hear the word cheese the rest of the "or so and so is offered" sounds like Charlie Browns Teacher - wa wa wa ..:rotfl2:

http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t201/chelsi0422/Vic%20and%20Als%20Day/WDW2009foodandwine444.jpg

Colston Bassett Stilton, Couch Farms Goat, 36 month aged Parmigiano-Reggiano, and Epoisses (or as I called it stinky socks!)

All were great but for my true love you can't beat the Stilton! It was perfect!

We all got the coffee - I guess now they offer a billion kinds but we went with what they serve with the dinner. It's really good!

We have all seen it before but it's so cool!
http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t201/chelsi0422/Vic%20and%20Als%20Day/WDW2009foodandwine445.jpg

Time for dessert - I usually let Jason pick what we get for sweets because I would rather have french fries - I like starch and salt and he is the sweets person! See why we are together?!:lovestruc

So he picked the trio of chocolate for himself -
Tanzanie Chocolate Pyramid, Hawaiian Kona Chocolate Souffle, and Peruvian Chocolate Ice Cream on Puff Pastry!

http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t201/chelsi0422/Vic%20and%20Als%20Day/WDW2009foodandwine447.jpg

Our favorite out of the three was the thing that looked like the chocolate eye lash! :rotfl: The ice cream was wonderful!

My dessert was Meyer Lemon and Blood Orange Purse with Blackberry-Violet Sherbet

http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t201/chelsi0422/Vic%20and%20Als%20Day/WDW2009foodandwine446.jpg

I have to say the purse wasn't very lemon at all and just really sweet - I loved the sherbet - it tasted like violet candy!
At this point we are 4 hours into our night and they bring out the end of the night sweets - I am sure they were also thinking "are they leaving yet?":rotfl2: It's not that we were obnoxious - we were just laughing A LOT! Most people ate and left, some hardly looked across the table at each other!

These are the get the heck out candies!

I am so happy we did this and so grateful to BriarRosie for setting it all up and making it happen. She even had Happy 40th on all us 40th people's menus! Very thoughtful and sweet! 2nd course I had the Main Diver Scallop with Zellwood Corn
http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t201/chelsi0422/Vic%20and%20Als%20Day/WDW2009foodandwine437.jpg
Perfect scallop - beautiful and sweet!

Jason had the King Salmon with Asparagus,Crab and Bearnaise
http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t201/chelsi0422/Vic%20and%20Als%20Day/WDW2009foodandwine438.jpg
I knew Jason would get this when I saw the menu - "does it come with a rich sauce? I'll take it!" :lmao:

How do you decide between the scallops & the king salmon with really rich sauce :confused3 OMG they both look to die for good!

This was really good but the wine with it was AMAZING! a baby amarone! Baby lamb - baby wine - GET IN MY BELLY! I want my baby back baby back.. oops sorry! :lmao:

:lmao:

We all got the coffee - I guess now they offer a billion kinds but we went with what they serve with the dinner. It's really good!

We have all seen it before but it's so cool!
http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t201/chelsi0422/Vic%20and%20Als%20Day/WDW2009foodandwine445.jpg

Time for dessert - I usually let Jason pick what we get for sweets because I would rather have french fries - I like starch and salt and he is the sweets person! See why we are together?!:lovestruc

So he picked the trio of chocolate for himself -
Tanzanie Chocolate Pyramid, Hawaiian Kona Chocolate Souffle, and Peruvian Chocolate Ice Cream on Puff Pastry!

http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t201/chelsi0422/Vic%20and%20Als%20Day/WDW2009foodandwine447.jpg

Our favorite out of the three was the thing that looked like the chocolate eye lash! :rotfl: The ice cream was wonderful!

At this point we are 4 hours into our night and they bring out the end of the night sweets - I am sure they were also thinking "are they leaving yet?":rotfl2: It's not that we were obnoxious - we were just laughing A LOT! Most people ate and left, some hardly looked across the table at each other!

These are the get the heck out candies!
http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t201/chelsi0422/Vic%20and%20Als%20Day/WDW2009foodandwine455.jpg

Day 4 Out late with Friends so what do we need?! That's right more food booths!

So with a later start Jason and I are back at Epcot to proceed on our eating adventure!

This time it's Greece who opens early!
http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t201/chelsi0422/Day%204/WDW2009foodandwine477.jpg

• Greek Salad with Pita Bread $2.75 Boutari Moschofilero $3.50,
http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t201/chelsi0422/Day%204/WDW2009foodandwine478.jpg

http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t201/chelsi0422/Day%204/WDW2009foodandwine475.jpg

This was a large portion and was REALLY SALTY! I like salt but it was a bit much!

Next up Canada-
http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t201/chelsi0422/Day%204/WDW2009foodandwine481.jpg

I usually avoid Canada like the plague! The smell that comes away from that booth at some points about kills me - strong fishy smell on a HOT day is not the making of a happy me! I also like the Cheddar Cheese soup but I think I am also over it. Jason looks at me every time I say this like "keep it down or we will get kicked out of the park!" but I can't help it! This year we heard rumblings from our friend Jay that the sausage was good so .. here it is!

• Canadian Cheddar Cheese Soup $3.75
• Spicy Chicken Sausage with Sweet Corn Polenta $3.75
Paul Bosc Estate Vineyard Chardonnay $4.25

http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t201/chelsi0422/Day%204/WDW2009foodandwine482.jpg

http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t201/chelsi0422/Day%204/WDW2009foodandwine483.jpg

See the soup - don't take away my Disney membership we had it! :rotfl2: It was the usual soup, cheesy -pepper goodness!
The sausage was GREAT - I have to say thinking back it was one of my top three of the festival! I loved the onion jam they put on it, the polenta was good and the sausage had a good kick to it! Great hang-over food! :lmao:
The wine on the other hand tasted like AMMONIA :scared1: It was horrible! It was a dumper!

After that it was back to Mexico for -
http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t201/chelsi0422/Day%204/WDW2009foodandwine484.jpg

• Tostada de Pollo (Corn Tortillas Filled with Chipotle Chicken) $4.00
• Mousse de Piña y Coco $3.00

http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t201/chelsi0422/Day%204/WDW2009foodandwine486.jpg

The Tostada was a good crunchy beany fun filled couple of bites!
Jason loved the Mousse - it tasted like coconut whipped cream!

Back for more later!

I'm booked at Kidani right now but plan on calling right at 7 months and switching to Beach Club or Boardwalk if available, otherwise I will wait list. I've never stayed at either of those resorts and I figured F&W would be the perfect time so I hope I can get in.

I own BCV, so I'm able to book it now (I bought it for that reason), but if I wait until July for the other weekends, I'm probably going to be out at Kidani myself (actually hoping for Old Key West, it's bigger and closer). So this will be my stroll over to Epcot weekend for sure.

Only problem I anticipate is that I'm flying on Columbus Day but I can get started looking for flights early.

This tasted like a 50/50 bar - I don't like 50/50 bars :headache: But It had sugar and Jason loved it!
Next up - San Juan, Puerto Rico
• Ham Croquette/Croquettas de Jamon $3.25

http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t201/chelsi0422/Day%204/WDW2009foodandwine510.jpg

These were ham fish stick with thousand island dressing! :lmao: They were not my favorite thing but also not horrible!

We didn't get Ice Cream but we did play in the truck!

Off to Japan to Try the Tuna Sensation!
http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t201/chelsi0422/Day%204/WDW2009foodandwine527.jpg

We both liked this a lot! Avocado and Tuna goodness! Loved the Sesame dressing :thumbsup2:thumbsup2 two thumbs up!

As we walked by Hopes and Barley we both stood and looked at the menu! We knew we wanted to try the Festival Ale. We always seem to like it! The food has us in a quandary - The Crab Cake is always mushy, I order it and then I think why didn't we just wait for Flying Fish crispy goodness?! Jason was saying we should get it so up to the booth I go and as I am waiting I look over to see a man SPITTING A CRAB CAKE BITE BACK ON HIS PLATE?!?!?! :scared::sad2::scared1: I have a pretty good stomach but I can't handle seeing stuff like that! NEEDLESS to say - I ordered the Lobster Roll for Jason and got my beer!

http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t201/chelsi0422/Day%204/WDW2009foodandwine533.jpg

The Lobster roll was better then last year - according to Jason I was still in Crab Cake hell but still not worth the 7.25 price! We also again loved the Festival Beer! I am not a huge beer drinker but did like this a lot!

Then we went back to the Ditch before heading out to try a couple more Margaritas!!!! - Hey I had to wash away the crab cake guy!

http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t201/chelsi0422/Day%204/WDW2009foodandwine542.jpg

This was the Jalapeno Margarita -Spicy and wonderful
and the Blood Orange! Sweet and tart and perfect!

On our way back to the Boardwalk to clean up and rest we saw my favorite t-shirt of the trip so I took a picture!

Camel butt ... that should be a middle eastern beer. :lmao:

No milk punch tonight but I am drinking a fabulous Italian Pinot Noir ... Feudo Arancio Pinot Noir ... from Sicily.

The label claims this is an elegant wine that embodies the intensity of Sicily. I don't really know about that since I've never been there, but Fat Tony did knock on our front door after we pulled the cork -- he was looking for some collection money. :confused3

OK ... I couldn't wait any longer ... had to make the first batch of milk punch tonight. It's good but I think it's better when it chills over-night in refrigerator and "seasons" a bit.

Jay was making fun of me because I forgot whether or not we had brandy this weekend so I bought another bottle. Turns out we had three bottles after this last purchase! So tonight he says, "After this bottle and the next bottle, there's only one bottle left! You'd better get to the store and buy some more before we run out!" :lmao:

So let's end this day! California Grill 5:30 ADR's

This is our first time back to California Grill in years. Jason and I got engaged right after out 1st meal here 80 years ago or so and that night we had an amazing meal, service was spot on, and it was quiet! Since we have been back once with friends and it was horrible! The Food was cold and bad, the room was noisy and kids were running around every nook and cranny you could see! I vowed never to step into the place again -being an cranky pants that I be ! I then started hearing rumbles that the food was good again and people talked about a quiet room called the Wine Room, hmm WINE? Room? Quiet? So we gave it a shot! Our early reservations are for two reasons. One - it was a late night non-MNSSHP and I don't need to see the flipping fireworks from the top! I mean if you don't see them live and in person how do you get that horrible Wishes song stuck in your head for months after?? :rotfl2:

We arrived at the Contemporary at 5:15 pm -
Jason want's a DVC here because it's called BLT because he says anything named after a Bacon -Lettuce and Tomato sandwich has to be good!

http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t201/chelsi0422/Day%204/WDW2009foodandwine544.jpg

We checked in and taken upstairs - at the desk we asked for the Wine Room which they said would be no problem! So we waited in the bar for a few moments until our table was ready!

OK! This was a piece of heaven! The room is so quiet even when full! You also have amazing views of Epcot and Animal Kingdom! I went out to use the restroom after we placed our order for the 1st course and the restaurant was already 1/2 full. The noise level when you walk through the glass doors to the main room was unbelievably loud. It was just normal talking and people eating at this point! I really recommend trying for the Wine Room area if you are having a night when you are with people you want to talk to or have a romantic slower time. It's worth the wait! Heck- If it's day 8 of your 10 day trip with family and you have been wondering "why did I do this to myself?" Go with the main room! :rotfl2:

We told our waiter we didn't know how much we could eat because we had been at the food and wine festival all day eating, so we hoped we could order a course at a time with some wine and see how things progressed. He was very accommodating and offered to bring out wines for us to try with what we chose!

Here we are before the wine and food!
http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t201/chelsi0422/Day%204/WDW2009foodandwine558.jpg

1st course

http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t201/chelsi0422/Day%204/WDW2009foodandwine560.jpg

I wish I had one right now! It was so good!!! The pork was like bits of pork belly! It was bacon-lisous!!! It wasn't too spicy but it had some kick!

Wines to go with - Jason and I ended up with a 1/2 glass of each he suggested and split them! The wine pairings he did were spot on!
http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t201/chelsi0422/Day%204/WDW2009foodandwine564.jpg

Heirloom Beets with Laura Chanel Goat Cheese and Pumpkin See Vinaigrette!
http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t201/chelsi0422/Day%204/WDW2009foodandwine566.jpg

At this point we are both full but Jason wants dessert and coffee before we head over to see the Magic Kingdom!

This is the chorus on the guitar hero song that I was telling you about:

I'm stuck in coma, stuck in a neverending sleep.
Some day I will wake up, and realize I made up everything.

But as the story goes, I heard "I'm sucking a donut ..."

So I've re-written the chorus for us:

Ahem ...

"I'm sucking a donut; a deep-fried doughball that's tasty and sweet.
Stuff it with foie gras, and now my gut worm's replete."

BTW ... I also very much enjoyed your CA Grill review and just about spat coffee at the cat when I read that piece of advice about eating in the main room with family when on day 8 of your 10 vacation. :rotfl2:

I must have been channeling you that night!

I give this advise to all - including myself!
:rotfl2:

This is the chorus on the guitar hero song that I was telling you about:

I'm stuck in coma, stuck in a neverending sleep.
Some day I will wake up, and realize I made up everything.

But as the story goes, I heard "I'm sucking a donut ..."

So I've re-written the chorus for us:

Ahem ...

"I'm sucking a donut; a deep-fried doughball that's tasty and sweet.
Stuff it with foie gras, and now my gut worm's replete."

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

:yay: It's catchy! :lmao:By the way I am sending you something privatly about your gut worm!:rotfl2:

I was thinking more along the lines of Lainie Kazan. But it's still an awesome sushi roll! I do like the Rankin' Bass thing, though. Catherine should do that. :thumbsup2 I was just ROFL when I saw the Rankin Bass references though! :rotfl2:

LOVE Rankin and Bass! They are masters of clay! :cool1:
I was laughing because I thought I was reading the same thing twice. Because I was reading it twice! Chelsi repeated the same paragraph!

Bring it sistah! I need to show Jay their website ... tomorrow night when we can look forward to a four-day weekend with little or no family. :thumbsup2

I liked the looks of the caviar sampler ... only $185 for something like three or four varieties. :worship:
