Bring it sistah! I need to show Jay their website ... tomorrow night when we can look forward to a four-day weekend with little or no family. :thumbsup2
I liked the looks of the caviar sampler ... only $185 for something like three or four varieties. :worship:

Hi Chelsi!
Great review of California Grill! Now I think I know why we missed each other that night -- you were in the wine room (which I have to admit, I know it exists, I'm just not really sure where it is:confused3). I was at the bar by around 7 and I kept scanning the restaurant to look for you guys. It was crazy, busy there though so I just figured there was no way we'd see each other. I may have to ask to be seated there next time -- sounds like it would be a much quieter meal. The main room is definitely loud!
Glad you enjoyed your meal there -- mine was great too and I plan on going back next October as well:thumbsup2
By the way, I'm jealous that you're going back to WDW again so soon -- and you'll actually be there to celebrate my birthday, so you'll have to have a drink for me:goodvibes I've never been to WDW during the holidays but am considering going next year for my birthday. I'll be curious to hear how the crowds are. For a fleeting moment I considered going the week between Christmas and New Year's this year since I am already off of work, but then sanity struck and I realized there was no way I wanted to deal with those crowds. Hope you have a great time and looking forward to more foodie reviews!

I am sorry we missed you also! By the time we were leaving we looked for you in the seats but is was crazy busy and we didn't see anyone we knew! The wine room is all the way at the back, farthest away from the bar!
When is your Birthday? I will let you know about crowds. We have only been for Thanksgiving and then the 1st week of December. I expect it to be busy this time but the holiday stuff s just so cool! We only have 4 full days and have to take a red-eye out to do it but we had the points and Jason had the time so .. we are crazy. We did this once for the Star Wars event too. That was the most crowded we have ever seen - lets see what this is like!
HAPPY THANKSGIVING EVERYONE!:lovestruc

Day 5 or The Day that fell into the Ditch!
Again not wanting to have a day away from Epcot and the food booths Jason and I are back - We did ride Sum of all Thrills this morning and it was a good time! I didn't take pictures because we were not eating - :lmao: - but we do recommend it!
Here we are with Rafiki on our way back to the World Showcase
http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t201/chelsi0422/dy%205/WDW2009foodandwine607.jpg
So we headed back to the booths and picked Mexico to start with! As we are standing in line we get the happy surprise of Jay and Brenda - who we tried to meet for a drink the night before but we got caught on a broken down Haunted Mansion for a 1/2 hour and we missed our booze!- They were headed the same way around the "world" so we now had ourselves a party!
1st Food of the Day -
• Quesadilla con Chorizo $3.75
Dos Equis Beer $4.50 - You know we don't always drink beer but when we go to the Food and Wine Festival and are at Mexico and they have crappy wine - we prefer Dos Equis!:rotfl2: (our apologies to the most interesting man in the world!)

When you are with this kind of crowd and when I say crowd I mean eaters of biblical proportions choices need to be made!
Us making choices
http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t201/chelsi0422/dy%205/WDW2009foodandwine609.jpg
Food, Food, Wine? Wine, Beer, Food? Food,Wine, Food, Beer! :rotfl2:
:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:
Choices made!
• Taste of Spain (Serrano Ham, Chorizo, Manchego, Olives, Tomato Bread) $4.25
• Crema Catalana $3.00
Poema Cava Brut (was shy and chose not to be pictured at this moment - truth be told I drank it while Jason's was taking photos :cutie:)
http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t201/chelsi0422/dy%205/WDW2009foodandwine610.jpg
The Taste of Spain was Meaty goodness! I love pork, cheese, olives and bread! This is how I achieve my Rubanesque figure! :lmao:
The Crema Catalana was a Lemon Creme Brulee! It was very tasty!
Here is a cute picture of Jay and Brenda with all our Spain-y Goodness!

At this point Brenda and Jay had a class at the Welcome Center so we said see you later to our Bestest Food Friendies and forged on our eating path!
1st we did go see the Trolls!
We were told we are not the first to go this way NOR WOULD WE BE THE LAST! :rotfl2:
I love this 1970's painting - they make you think all men in Norway look like Chuck Norris! :lmao:
http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t201/chelsi0422/dy%205/WDW2009foodandwine616.jpg
The Trolls made us hungry (as you can see a slight wind will do the same! :lmao:) so off to Cape Town!
http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t201/chelsi0422/dy%205/WDW2009foodandwine618.jpg
Cape Town Food Line 5 people long DO-DA DO-DA! Meat with Sweet Potatoes with sauce is a must DO-DA DO-DA!
• Seared Beef Tenderloin with Sweet Potato Purée, Mango Barbecue Sauce $4.75
http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t201/chelsi0422/dy%205/WDW2009foodandwine622.jpg
We loved this! It was Meat and POTATOES! How really could it have been bad! The meat was tender and the potatoes were creamy!
Then it was off to (yes! I have another song!) One night in Bangkok and the Soup had no Oysters - Just chicken goodness and a beer!:lmao:
http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t201/chelsi0422/dy%205/WDW2009foodandwine624.jpg
• Chicken and Coconut Soup, with Mushrooms, Lemongrass & Ginger $3.25
Singha Beer $5.50
This was disappointing! We love Thai food and this was just OK! No spice and not a lot of flavor!
One more booth(and song) MY BOLOGNA !!!! WE HAVE AQUA PANNA! DU DUNA DU DUANA(sung to my Sharona:lmao:) We Got CANNELLONA -I mean Cannelloni!:rotfl2:
http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t201/chelsi0422/dy%205/WDW2009foodandwine629.jpg
• Cannelloni $4.50
Chianti Placido $4.00
http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t201/chelsi0422/dy%205/WDW2009foodandwine632.jpg
This was cheesy wonderfulness! I want one now! It was also a huge portion!

Hard to come up with them while you're walking around drinking. But when one is home drinking it works.
Time flies, doesn’t seem a minute
Since the World Showcase had the food fiends in it
Bangkok, no one wants to dine there
Even all the locals won’t get into the line there
No icewine, no Regale, no champagne, just one beer
One beer in Bangkok is the best they offer
I guess in Thailand there is not much wine
One beer in Bangkok won’t put cash in coffer
They might have to pay people to get in line
Even a snack credit won’t get them in line
One kiosk’s very like another
When you’ve had your share of booze samples, brother
Bangkok soup, not a chance, it’s 90 degrees out here
They don’t even have a wine, that's what it's all about here
Whadda ya mean?
You get one clouded, diluted, stinkin wine…
Big shrimp, too much spice
Little white wine with that shrimp would have been nice
Who cares?
Bet you chocolate stogies the papaya salad’s not as bad as the pirogies
I’ll taste your beer before you taste mine, sunshine

Day 5 Part Duex - Let's Dive Head 1st in the Ditch
So we were did we leave off.. eating around the world, fun with Jay and Brenda, oh yea - we are off to the Puglian Wine Class!
http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t201/chelsi0422/dy%205/WDW2009foodandwine650.jpg
We were scared about this one! Seems the cruise director for this class had a bad habit of not showing. We almost said forget it about going but we did waddle on over with all thoughts that we would be $5 richer when they didn't show!
Low and behold - The mysterious disappearing Puglian Wine Talkers! Not to be confused with the Puglian Wine Walkers found in Circus of the Stars!:lmao:
http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t201/chelsi0422/dy%205/WDW2009foodandwine654.jpg
We drank some wine that was OK - the talk was short but all and all the people who booked the event and it was canceled didn't miss much!
The wines -
http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t201/chelsi0422/dy%205/WDW2009foodandwine649.jpg
Not knowing what we wanted to do next I looked at my phone and had a message from Brenda saying they were going to try and get a seat at the new tequila bar and if we wanted to wander on over and have a margarita (or 6)! This sounded like a fun idea so we walk on to Mexico-land. This is when life at WDW gets a little ... hmmm... shall we say blurry? BLURRY that is a good word! When we walk in Brenda and Jay have a seat and are enjoying a cocktail with CDTommie and his wonderful wife, who we had the pleasure of meeting at PFTS and Brenda's Birthday Bash. We sit down and well .. I will give you a photo journey by National Booz-o-Graphics! :rotfl2:
Here are Brenda and I at the start of the afternoon -

Disney got all the drinks in this place right! They are all excellent and full of tequila goodness. See that little silver shaker?! That is full of your refill for the classic!
You know how it goes - You meet friends at a bar, you order a drink, you order another drink and some may even order a third or dare I say a fourth.. then the next thing you know you have a Godzilla on the table and you have a strangers Birthday hat on your head! :confused3 What this doesn't happen to all of you???! :rotfl2::rotfl2:
Godzilla - purchased by Jay and Brenda for their collection and bravely brought out to show the drunks, I mean the friends at the table!
http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t201/chelsi0422/dy%205/WDW2009foodandwine664.jpg
The Birthday girl and her friend had come for the day from Tampa to get the free birthday in. Brenda - hopped up on tequila spotted the birthday girls shiny hat and next thing we know we are pulling them over to our table, Brenda's trying to buy her shots and we all have her hat on our head! What?? This doesn't happen to you all either?!!! I think I see 12 steps in our future! Anyway -:lmao:
Here is Susan - the friend of the birthday girl and poor thing also the designated driver sitting in and getting to know the drunk table!:rotfl2:

Well at this point Brenda starts to set up a "Look at me do a drunk funny picture!" When she does a drunk funny picture and spills water all over the table - I just asked Jason if this was what happened and all I got was - "yea, something like that happened!":rotfl2::rotfl2:
So this is the picture that was being set up before the spilling incident!

At this point something happened to us at Disney that never happens! We received free FOOD from the bar (and water -Lots and Lots of water):rotfl2::rotfl2: For some reason unknown to us the kind people that ran the bar thought we all might need something besides tequila in our bellies!
So Disney tip #564 -if your on a tight budget just get drunk at the Ditch - you will then receive a complimentary order of chips and salsa plus all the water you can drink! That's one for the guide books!
Water is not as good as tequila!

:worship: Awesome Catharine! :worship:

Day 5 Part Duex - Let's Dive Head 1st in the Ditch

The classic Margarita!
http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t201/chelsi0422/dy%205/WDW2009foodandwine659.jpg

So this is the picture that was being set up before the spilling incident!
http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t201/chelsi0422/dy%205/WDW2009foodandwine668.jpg

Noooo...haven't gotten to that yet. I just did a minor update a couple days ago, the breakfast at the Formerly Known as Gacky place and further adventures in the Ditch. ;)

I was going to ask if you had checked VGC. Hope that works out! :goodvibes
Hi Chelsi! I am just catching up on your reviews. Loved reading about your day at the Ditch. Looks like you guys had a lot of fun and I'm bummed I missed out on it!
Sorry that you had to cancel your December trip. I guess you won't be able to have a margarita at the Ditch for my birthday after all. You'll just have to have one in CA instead. I know I'll be having one here:thumbsup2 Hope you were able to schedule something else to use up your points. Disneyland sounds like fun. I haven't been there in about 20 years :scared1: I keep saying that I'd like to go out there but WDW always wins out.

Sorry for not updating sooner. Christmas and some other stuff have been keeping me busy! I just read Brenda's New Zoo Review! We have booked a NIGHT at DVC Grand Californian. Seems that weekdays worth of points for a preferred studio is one night at California:eek: so we went all out and got a two bed-room. The balcony is supposed to over-look California Adventure. We have dinner reservations at Napa Rose Sunday and are taking our best friends as a Christmas treat - plus we have the room! She loves Disney and has been to the Food and Wine fest with us most years. He could never walk into Disney again and be fine!:rotfl2: He's fun and gets into it when he goes, he would just rather backpack through Alaska or climb a mountain! I say they don't have a bar on top of that mountain, why would I climb it?! :lmao: I will take pictures and post for those who want to see!

Day 6 - Yes! We will go to Raglan Road twice this day Thank You!
Jason and I woke up early (still can't believe that one after the wonderful night we had with Jay, Brenda, Sledge and the Ditch:lmao:) and thought we might head out to see something other the Epcot this morning. The heat had not fully returned so we talked and said that Animal Kingdom would be a good choice. I love this park - it's beautiful but we are usually done after a couple hours and never eat here! We have tried to fill the day with things to do long enough to at least get a drink and a snack but as usual by 10:30 we are ready to leave!
http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t201/chelsi0422/WDW2009foodandwine717.jpg
So leaving we throw caution to the wind and say what ever bus comes 1st that is the place we will have lunch or near that area! 1st bus - Port Orleans! Jason has never seen that resort so we go to look around and take the water taxi to Downtown Disney!
http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t201/chelsi0422/WDW2009foodandwine730.jpg
If you have never taken the water taxi to Downtown Disney it is worth it to head over! It's a beautiful trip and you get to see the new Tree Houses. The Captain explained they have had trouble with the tree house gusts because they feel so secluded and leave the curtains open while being in different stages of nakedness! I looked but saw nothing! :lmao:

When we arrived it was quite and besides T-Rex Cafe you could have had your picks of food places. We head into our personal favorite Raglan Road! We have never had a bad meal here and love the look and feel of the place. We could have been seated but chose to sit at the bar!
Us at the bar!

YES! I ate some before the picture was taken! Send me to the Dis police! I way hungry! :goodvibes The steak salad was really good. The meat was tender and the dressing was not over done. We think the Fish and Chips are wonderful and the best on property!

After lunch we head back to Epcot because we have a Tokyo Dining Class at 2! We arrived at bit early and Jason wanted a snack! I guess his other leg had been emptied! :rotfl2::rotfl2:
No line at Ireland!
• Warm Chocolate Lava Cake with Bailey's Ganache $2.75
http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t201/chelsi0422/WDW2009foodandwine750.jpg
This was fantastic - hot gooey and rich. It looks small but it was loaded with fudgey goodness!
Off to Tokyo Dining Class!
This is one reservation we made and then day of we were like - "well you wanted to do this!" "NO you wanted to do this!" .. so went went not expecting much.
When we arrived we found it was a sushi class and they were doing a Caterpillar Roll. They had it paired with a Pinot Noir.
http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t201/chelsi0422/WDW2009foodandwine752.jpg
I love sushi but it's really something I enjoy having someone else do for me. I knew I wasn't going to leave this class with the "lets get the big expensive knife and make it myself" bug! The other hard part is that I will eat most anything except raw Salmon. I think I have read too much about the risks and even though everyone one around me eats it - I wont. Eye worms are not my friend! :3dglasses:laughing:
So that being said here is the piece our table gets with all the Salmon goodness I wanted! :rotfl2:
http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t201/chelsi0422/WDW2009foodandwine756.jpg
Jason got most of mine. It was beautiful and fresh but again I am my own worst enemy on this one!
After - I wanted a snack since I didn't eat my Sushi!
http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t201/chelsi0422/WDW2009foodandwine765.jpg
• Seared Barramundi with Blistered Cherry Tomatoes, Arugula and Lemon Oil $4.50
http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t201/chelsi0422/WDW2009foodandwine769.jpg
This was good but I remembered that I liked the chilled Barramundi better the year before!
Then we spotted something that we had not seen - At the donkey cart it Italy! BOMBOLONI!
http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t201/chelsi0422/WDW2009foodandwine770.jpg
They are Italian Donuts filled with fruit or Nutella - These came in three Nutella, Apricot, and Raspberry
http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t201/chelsi0422/WDW2009foodandwine771.jpg
These were HUGE!!! They couldn't fit them in the same container! All were wonderful but the best was the Nutella or maybe I just like writing Nutella!:rotfl2:
At this point we head back to the room. It was about to rain and we had a bottle of Sparkling Wine we had purchased earlier in the week ready to drink. What better way to enjoy our balcony over looking the bus stop then watching everyone run from the rain with wine in our hands! :rotfl2:

At this point we get a call from Brenda and Jay - they are in our lobby waiting for X and Y to have a couple drinks and want to know if we want to meet them at Raglan Road or Paradiso 37 for drinks after. Since our room not only comes with a view of the bus but is 15 doors away from the lobby we go and wait with them. In my socks and holding a glass of wine we surprise Jay and Brenda who are "patently waiting for X&Y" to arrive. :lmao: At this point we decided to go with them to Raglan Road and if reservations can be moved, worm our way into there dining plans. When we arrive they tell us it would be an extra 40 minutes so Jason and I take our favorite place at the bar and have dinner! We say we ill meet up with them after they finish getting River-danced!:lmao: We also felt bad because Sledge had a bad hang-over and didn't join us at Raglan Road during the day! He had to come along! :lmao:
Jason and I order drinks
Tucher Hefeweiss and a Murphy's Red
http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t201/chelsi0422/WDW2009foodandwine792.jpg
Sledge! That's my Hefeweiss!
http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t201/chelsi0422/WDW2009foodandwine793.jpg
Then Sledge orders a Bushmills flight!
http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t201/chelsi0422/WDW2009foodandwine801.jpg
http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t201/chelsi0422/WDW2009foodandwine802.jpg
Once Sledge starts he is a party animal. He was flirting with all the girls tap dancing on the tables - He's telling bad jokes - but everyone loves him so all is OK! We knew we better get some food in him before he was way out of hand so we ordered the -
Appetiser D'Lirrah for Two - our Dalkey Battered Sausages, Georges Bank Scallops, Guinness Glazed Ribs, and Chicken Lickin' Skewers $26.00
http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t201/chelsi0422/WDW2009foodandwine803.jpg
http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t201/chelsi0422/WDW2009foodandwine806.jpg
http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t201/chelsi0422/WDW2009foodandwine807.jpg
This was all very tasty. I think the ribs and the Scallops were our favorites!
Then Sledge orders a Guinness!
http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t201/chelsi0422/WDW2009foodandwine816.jpg
http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t201/chelsi0422/WDW2009foodandwine818.jpg
At this point he starts trying to pour his own beer!
http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t201/chelsi0422/WDW2009foodandwine819.jpg
and gets behind the bar!~ BAD DRUNK SKULL THING!:headache:
http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t201/chelsi0422/WDW2009foodandwine820.jpg
Thank goodness Jay and Brenda have finished dinner and want to leave! I think Raglan Road was ready for Sledge to go home!
So we head over to Paradiso 37 for a night cap!
None of us had been in here and all wanted to try it! It was very pretty and besides 4 other tables it was dead.
The Bar
http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t201/chelsi0422/WDW2009foodandwine832.jpg
We grab a table - it was 10:30 and the waiter said they closed at 11! 11??? Not much pleasure in pleasure island left now is there? They did have entertainment - some country singer on a guitar singing "Baby got Back" while all the kids sang along!:rotfl2::eek::rotfl2: I don't know if I should laugh or cry!!!!
I order the house Margarita-
http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t201/chelsi0422/WDW2009foodandwine821.jpg
Now I know I have been at the Ditch all week but these were horrible drinks. I think mine was all sugar. It was just gross! Jason ordered a Irish Coffee - they acted like they had never heard of it and then instead of saying -we don't make those came back with a tumbler of coffee with some brown booze in it! UGH!:headache:
We all picked to split the -
Mini Ice Cream Cones - four waffle cones of vanilla, chocolate, strawberry and cookies & cream ice creams, topped with sprinkles $6.99
http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t201/chelsi0422/WDW2009foodandwine824.jpg
They were tiny and the ice cream was nothing special- even Sledge was not thrilled!

Well, I am back trying to get this finished before I see Santa's boots on my roof! :rotfl2:
The Next day Oct 22nd! - You guessed it we had been away from the food booths too long! Besides we had a Chopin Vodka class - well actually we didn't. This was our only free non-class day and in a boozy haze I thought I remembered that Brenda and Jay had this day booked for Chopin! Turns out I was wrong BUT with a little of that famous Disney Customer service and the fact I was giving up a Saturday class for a Thursday they not only let us switch but Brenda and Jay as well!
So 1st off to the booths!
Santiago Chile was a booth we had had nothing at yet so ..
http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t201/chelsi0422/Dec%2012/WDW2009foodandwine841.jpg
• Rock Shrimp Ceviche $4.75
• Corn and Cheese Arepa $3.00
Sauvignon Blanc $2.50
http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t201/chelsi0422/Dec%2012/WDW2009foodandwine844.jpg
The Ceviche was good - not great but good and we really enjoyed the Arepa!
Greece

• Chicken Souvlaki with Tzatziki $4.00
http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t201/chelsi0422/Dec%2012/WDW2009foodandwine847.jpg
We really liked this and always meant to go back but the line was always long! I remember the wine being to sweet for me and Jason still having it for the next booth!
Back to Canada so Jason could try the salmon!
It was better this year! It still smells like every cat in Florida should come running and it makes me not want to eat anything from Canada -land!:rotfl:
http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t201/chelsi0422/Dec%2012/WDW2009foodandwine849.jpg
At this point we get a call from our two favorite food pals Jay and Brenda that things are going on in China-land and to come see -
http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t201/chelsi0422/Dec%2012/WDW2009foodandwine853.jpg
Well - we waited and waited and waited and they started talking about a New Adventures Tour so we left! We all wanted to eat and this was talking too long! :rotfl2:
So we all went to Australia
• Grilled Lamb Chop, Red Wine Sauce, Murray River Sea Salt $5.50
• Lamington $3.00

12-10-2009, 05:40 PM
Then it's back to Italy so I can get prosecco, Jay and Brenda can try the do-nuts and Jason can get a meat clot :rotfl2:I mean Meatball!
http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t201/chelsi0422/Dec%2012/WDW2009foodandwine857.jpg
I tried this because Brenda said it was good for a meatball and it was but it was still a meatball! :lmao:
So then something happened in our conversation - Brenda mentioned that she has always wanted a shot of Aquavit and they sold it at the Akershus Royal Banquet Hall Princess Lunch but she was sure they wouldn't give her a to go shot. Always up for a challenge especially when it involves booze and princesses :rotfl: Jason thinks he can get her one! I just shake my head and start betting on the chances! Jason 1st talks to the poor 20 something boy and girl checking in reservations while being slammed by stray strollers and putting up with eye-bleeding noise all while having to wear a form of lederhosen! If I were them I would have taken a backhand to the be-boozer trying to get a to go sippy of booze but some people -people in lederhosen- find Jason charming and convincing. They want to share the local booze or they want to pass him off to the next woman up on the Disney totem poll so they say wait here!
Jason and Brenda waiting here!
http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t201/chelsi0422/Dec%2012/WDW2009foodandwine859.jpg
The mini-manager says they cannot have booze leave the restaurant because of their liquor law but she will see if we can all have a shot if we come in and do it inside!??!!! So all 4 of us stunned booze heads get past the families waiting to be seated and wait for our shots to be served as children are lined up to meet Belle! :scared1:
At this point we wait a few minutes and see her in the back talking to the head manager. She takes one look at us and we finally get the answer I have been expecting all along! NO!!!!!!!!!:rotfl2:
Mini manager comes back, very sorry and explains that her manager said we could not just buy booze from them! Well, it makes a good story!

http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t201/chelsi0422/Dec%2012/WDW2009foodandwine863.jpg
So then the class. It is a marketing person for Chopin! She showed us a film on
why Chopin is better because it's made from potatoes and not grain like most vodkas and then tell about the "perfect martini" and they show how to make it. It is all full of yummy blue cheese stuffed olives and my little olive and cheese and booze loving heart gets a flutter! Then when the film is done she explains she didn't want to make us drunk so we were not getting that martini - we were getting a strawberry balsamic martini?!
http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t201/chelsi0422/Dec%2012/WDW2009foodandwine862.jpg
So - don't want us drink but we still get two 1/2 shots of vodka and a vodka martini?! Last time I checked strawberry juice wasn't the all powerful OZ that stopped the effects of alcohol, so why show us how to make one and then give us another??? :confused3
The half shots were - Grey Goose (which is what I have usually) and Chopin. I have to say being able to taste them side by side the Chopin was a smoother and better tasting vodka! I am convinced! The martini was too sweet and I just dumped my Grey Goose into it to make it taste better!
I know these two!

You forgot to mention that we were sort of hiding from X&Y this day. In all fairness we'd left Boma and our guests because the Crohn goblin was making me feel really icky. We were walking through Epcot and I started to feel better ... was it the gentle exercise or the sweet aroma of that special food 'n' booze scented air that Epcot pumps through the World Showcase? We'll never know. :rolleyes1
All I can say is that I started to feel better and better and the next thing I knew we were begging for aquavit in Norway.
Why didn't you share your backstage troll idea with everyone, Chelsi? That still has the power to bring me to helpless laughter tears ... in fact ... I'm laughing right now. :rotfl2:

Were you going to post anything from the Crew's Cup Lounge? And the Dance Hall?
Oh, and I snorted coffee when I saw the picture of Sledge in the grass with that mini bottle of Cirroc. What did you ... er, I mean he ... what did he think of it?
1st.. just got our electricity back on -total power out for the area and no reason!
Umm I don't have a picture from that night that would hold a story together!
and He LOVED it!;)

I hate it when the power goes out for no reason at all ... actually around here our satellite dish likes to black out on perfectly cloudless, beautiful days. :confused3
Good point ... I don't think our pictures from that night tell a coherent story either. :lmao:
I am glad to know that Sledge enjoyed the cirroc ... it's good on its own and it makes a mean martini!

We left Jay and Brenda so they could pack a little and rest. We both had ADR's that night - us at Flying Fish since it would be our last night to dine at a restaurant (PFTS tomorrow!) and they had Jiko! They called us and wanted to know if we would want to go with them to Jiko instead. We said we would LOVVVVVVVVVVVVE to join you and planned to meet in the lobby at the Boardwalk at 5:30!
When we met them they had a wonderful idea! Since we were not able to get a 4 top at Jiko or Flying Fish - why don't we head for a Blue Zoo night and sit in the bar! This was perfect! We had not been yet and love the drinks, they had but the Meat Puppet had made a mess of their signature dinner and Sledge could go because it was loud enough to be a Sledge friendly environment!
Jay and Brenda waiting for our response to the new plans!

All I have to say is the evening was perfect! We were sad to see them leave and wish they lived closer! I have never not made it to so many ADR's on a trip and never regretted missing one! Thank you Jason and Brenda for making this our bestest trip to WDW ever - We love you guys! :lovestruc

I get that sometimes service is slow or you have a bad night. This was different. The restaurant was not full, maybe half full. Our waiter was not helpful when we had questions and for the most part not around. Jason ordered the chefs tasting menu with wine and not only did he switch a wine without asking they forgot a course all together. They poured the wine but no food. He finally asked after he was served his main and they didn't say much just brought him a plate and acted like it wasn't a big deal. After waiting a 1/2 hour for our desserts after ordering them, we tried to cancel by flagging our waiter down. Instead he saw us, had someone else bring them out and after 10 more minutes came to see how my "famous" Guy Fieri Hot Chocolate was which I replied COLD! At that time he just picked up my plate, didn't ask if I wanted anything else, and returned with a check. He did take the dessert off but his attitude was horrible! Jason is writing a letter. The meal was not inexpensive in the least and we expected the price but not the service. We should have said something then but we had guests and wanted to see the fireworks. I will let you know if we ever hear anything! OK! Now the food!

Bummer. Here is a picture of their cheese plate. I always take one random food porn photo at Disneys. Disneies? :confused3 What is the plural of Disney?

Perhaps it's Disnii? Or following in the footsteps of moose, perhaps it just stays Disney?:lmao:
Beautiful room Chelsi! And what an amazing view! I can't wait to hear about dinner....I saw a Disneyland special with Guy Fieri about a week ago, and he and his family had dinner at Napa Rose, and it looked fabulous!
Thanks! I wish we could have had a Dis-friendie meet here! It was too cool!

The food looks fabulous but I'm sorry the service stunk! That can really ruin a nice restaurant for me. I'm with you, I understand slow and even mistakes but I don't understand a poor attitude. I hope you hear back from Disney.

It will be interesting to see if we do. I usually only write nice notes. I want them to know how good the food we had was. I don't what things bad for them in this economy! I do wish I had that lamb again for dinner tonight!

I'm sorry the service was so bad at Napa Rose - no excuse for that at all - but the food has me drooling down my chin as I type. :cloud9: And I think I would have cried if that wonderful hot chockie & donut dessert had been served cold to me. :sad1:
I hope you guys get a response from Disney - you deserve an apology at the very minimum.

We're heading to Disneyland in March. For our first day, we're supposed to get in before noon, so we're debating between doing Disneyland with dinner whenever at the Jazz Kitchen...or exploring DTD and doing an early dinner (like 5) at Napa Rose. We'll have some serious Jetlag going on. What would you recommend. Is the food really spectacular at Napa Rose and not to be missed? Should we do it another day when we wouldn't be so tired??

Hello! March will be a great and quiet time to go! Napa Rose during busy times doesn't open till 5:30. I am not sure if it opens a bit later in slower times - you should ask. If your going with jet lag I would wait. The meal even when the service is spot on takes a while plus the lighting is just right to make you fall head first asleep in your wine! :lmao: The food is wonderful but I think you might be too tired to enjoy it! Have FUN!

I just had the tasting menu on Thursday night, it was excellent! Rather than write to the GC, you might send it to Andrew Sutton the head chef. He really cares about his customers and is a great guy. I've done the Napa Rose Cooking School with him for two years.
As far as good service, every time I've eaten there, I've sat at the Chef's Counter. I've always had excellent service there, and we also got a bonus Mushroom Soup "Cappucino" from the chef. Besides the excellent meal the best part was Chef Sutton asked me what I wanted to learn about at next year's class and gave me his card to email him any ideas!
I would seriously reccomend eating at this restaurant for anyone who loves great food!
Thanks for the pics, now I don't have to bother posting mine!

I'd wait until another day. The first time I ate there, we were luckily staying at the hotel, but I was sooooo tired, after we ate some huge seafood appetizer, I had to leave my SO there finish the entree that I had ordered because I was literally falling asleep in my plate. You want to be conscious for this meal!

Okey dokey, here it goes, not much different from yours...we sat at the Chef's counter like I always do because I love the interaction with Chef Sutton. At first he wasn't out there and I was very bummed, but after an hour or so he showed up, even though the staff didn't really expect him.
We opted for the tasting menu, but we split it between the two of us. they split it in the kitchen. For us this was almost plenty of food, I did order a second dessert...It IS the holidays!
http://i915.photobucket.com/albums/ac352/franandaj/IMG_2101.jpg
So we started with this amuse bouche, "what she said" date and proscuitto and something, very good.
http://i915.photobucket.com/albums/ac352/franandaj/IMG_2081.jpg
The breads are great and served in such an imaginative bowl. I love the crispy flat bread.
http://i915.photobucket.com/albums/ac352/franandaj/IMG_2084.jpg
I love the view from here.
http://i915.photobucket.com/albums/ac352/franandaj/IMG_2090.jpg
We watched them plate up lots of these scallop appetizers. They were in the cookbook I got, but I can't make those potato chip things. I tried this appetizer last new years eve and I was great, just wish I had some of the cross cut potato thingys!
http://i915.photobucket.com/albums/ac352/franandaj/IMG_2079.jpg
Our first course was lobster & cauliflower, normally I don't like cauliflower, but it was very good and well seasoned.
http://i915.photobucket.com/albums/ac352/franandaj/IMG_2085.jpg
http://i915.photobucket.com/albums/ac352/franandaj/IMG_2087.jpg
http://i915.photobucket.com/albums/ac352/franandaj/IMG_2088.jpg
So we had a braised veal cheek instead of lamb, it was amazing, it was plated over a small chunk of polenta, and came with a deep fried egg yolk that was still runny, I don't know how they did that, I tried to get a good picture, but it is a bit fuzzy.
http://i915.photobucket.com/albums/ac352/franandaj/IMG_2091.jpg
http://i915.photobucket.com/albums/ac352/franandaj/IMG_2092.jpg
Once the chef showed up, he remembered us from past visits and the cooking school and gave us a complimentary mushroom cappucino, (he did this for the other guests too, so good reason to sit there!)
http://i915.photobucket.com/albums/ac352/franandaj/IMG_2095.jpg
http://i915.photobucket.com/albums/ac352/franandaj/IMG_2096.jpg
http://i915.photobucket.com/albums/ac352/franandaj/IMG_2098.jpg
Then we got our goose as seen on the Guy Fieri Special. By this time my camera battery had died, so the picture you see is someone's random goose that I watched the serving station for until someone finally had one and jumped up to snatch this picture, ours were halved so not quite this big.
http://i915.photobucket.com/albums/ac352/franandaj/IMG_2100.jpg
I missed taking a picture of the dessert that came with the tasting menu, but we were still a little hungry and I wanted to try that Coco thing, didn't know it came with donuts. It was hot when we got it and so yummy. I ate most of the donuts, and hot chocolate, but got up to photograph the goose while I had some left, ran into friends and by the time I got back my SO had finished it off. Good thing, that much sugar and I would have been in a tizzy!
