This, my comrades is a story of great luck and great drive. :drive: It may also be a story of great stupidity  but that will only be known in the next month and a half.

You see, we are simple folks. :flower3: We are paycheck to paycheck people but we have heart. :thumbsup2 We have ambition. We have gumption.

This is also what rednecks say about why they race their Aunt Edna's old Buick on the back dirt roads after a 24 pack of Uncle Cletus's moonshine :drinking1 and a thunder bumper down by the hollar.

If that makes any sense to you than you might be a redneck. :snooty:

We are not quite that gumption filled. We are actually not from the South either. I have only been to a Piggly Wiggly once and was thrown off by the word buggy. :confused3

Are you rattled yet? Are you wondering why this bonified multiple personality case is talking out loud like you can hear me?

The reason is simple.

I feel like a red neck at times. I feel like I have an inner red neck just itchin to spread it's wings like the Swine Flu. Take over everything. :rolleyes1

Or at least the Poly. :smooth:

Not so big on World Domination. (nation... nation...:mic: sounding over a loud speaker at a WWF match....not that I have watched that since Hulk Hogan wasn't such a Desperate Housewives mess.) ;)

But I am big on the Poly. (Actually I am just big everywhere right now and thus the weight loss ticker but that is for my friend Richard Simmons fans and not for you Anthony Bourdain fans.)

I have dreamed of the Poly since first laying eyes on her. I have eaten in her restaurants and drank my pineapple filled beverages with the umbrellas trying to fit in. I have swam at her pools and lounged on her beaches. :beach: I have used her facilities and showered in the volcano. I have done everything short of actually having a room there and now...the Piggly Wiggly God's have spoken. :listen:

(K - you got me there again - it is Wal-Mart and Target bags but for effect they do not sound sexy do they?:sad2:)

My soon to be better half just got a part time job at the Disney Store and that means Cast Member discounts.

They have a doosey available for the Holidays and that means we can have 6 nights at the Poly for about $1,800 including the regular Dining Plan. :cheer2::cool1:

So for now, I will be hobnobbing in my head with the Rockefeller's and the Trumps. Or at least those who can afford to stay there with actual luggage. ;)

If it doesn't work out for money - we will downgrade our hotel stay but for now baby - we are planning on the Poly. If you don't plan to succeed you plan to fail and I am not a failure. No matter what my 3rd grade art teacher said! :artist:

Up next: The FamDamily.

This is the Family. The Peeps going. The ones we love to love or love to throttle given the day of the week. ;)

Me - Dawn - 38 years old and hoping to make it to 100!
I am a big smart @#ss and pray I never offend anyone but know it is plausible. I work with Silpada Designs Jewelry and LOVE my job. Young Mom and young married and thus did not know myself very well. After almost 16 years it was time to move on and find myself. Little did that know it would also mean finding Dan!

Dan - 40 and the greatest guy I could hope for. Both for myself and for a role model to my kids.
Literally I had told my BF, when the kids Dad and I separated, the criteria of my dream man and he is it. Shows you it pays to dream.

He is a Senior Corporate Trainer for a communications company and now...part time Disney cast member! The latter we have to thank for such a great deal. It definitely means his value there is much higher than his hourly pay! ;)

We met and have not looked back. Planning on getting married next summer at Disney's Vero Beach and truly - just a lifetime of happiness. We are honest with one another and call each other out at times but I wouldn't want it any other way.

Treyner and I - This is a perfect picture to show you the kind of kid he is. Loving, caring and full of surprise always.

He is in Colorado now at a school he planned on staying at. He was offered full scholarships at many other schools but picked this one for soccer and the coach in particular. The coach left a few weeks before pre-season to coach a pro team in India. :scared1: To say the rest has been a mess is an understatement. He is looking at different schools as we speak and will probably change schools at semester. I have really been proud of the way he has handled everything thrown at him this first semester of college. Being 30 hours from home and making friends and deciding to leave is one I would not wish on anyone.

He knows he is cute, the girls know he is cute but most of all they love him for his compassionate nature. And his smart mouth. Not sure which wins out some days!

Carsyn - 16 and needing to get her license! :worship:

Carsyn on first day of school this year.

She is my daughter and she is an amazing person. 11th grade and can drive me batty like no one else ever will and at the same time I stand and look at her in awe.

She has her head on straight about boys and the world in general. Her goals are to work with kids or possible law enforcement. She is too practical at times (she doesn't have her license because she wants to get better at parking while I would have figured that out after I got my license!) for her age and she loves impacting others.

She is my homebody for the most part - that may change once she drives - and she loves to sit back and analyze people and situations.

Baylor - Taller then me this year and a sense of humor that is bigger than himself.

Waiting for a ride to start at MOA.

Baylor is the most considerate of them. He will look for something when we are out shopping that is just for me or the house. He is the first to say please and thank you and he is appreciative of everything, always.

He is also the strongest kid. Bravest and has the best attitude towards adversity. He was burned in an accident last Halloween and he has gone through more crud than anyone should have to with grafting and rehab. We had a rough few weeks at the start but he is all boy and all about moving past a situation and always making the best of it. He never blames people for his choices and I appreciate that strength.

He taught this family how much we love each other and brought us closer than I thought possible through this past year and this trip is a celebration of one year of Healing. That word is powerful and broad. Never underestimate healing.

I wanted to give you some insight to this group because the dynamics to each will always define the trip. We are goofy and silly and downright over the top in what we are willing to do compared to many but it works for us.

Hope you come and stay and if you want to know us better - the TR from last Dec is linked below!

I am reading your last pre trip report, it keeps me busy while waiting for your next TR update and now I get to read this one too.
Piggly Wiggly does have a sexier ring to it then walmart or Target, you made the right luggage choice! Just add a styrofoam cooler to that and you are really red neckin it.
This is off topic while being on topic, My sister is having a hysterectomy, (off topic) we came up with a list of things she can do with the old uterus, I never even thought to add to the list that it could be used as a carryon (that makes it on topic) Would you call the uterus luggage redneck or shabby chic?

Those are great pictures of your kids.

Our grocery stores are called HEB, kind sounds boring right? NOT SO! The story behind the store.
The Poor man that stared our grocery stores out here's name is.....wait for it..... Henry E. Butts, yup you heard me....Butts.
I'm thinkin that if my name was Butts, I would name my store HEB too!

I had the priviledge of working in the Capitol this year during session for one of our state Reps., and Mr. Butts son or grandson I forget now....came in and turned out to be the nicest most humble man you could meet! He brought in all kinds of goodies and treats from one of his beautiful Whole Foods type stores and then in turn sent us a thank you card for our time spent with him while he was there.
Then again, I guess with a name like Butts it probably puts you in mind of wanting to be humble, otherwise everyone would think you were making a butt of yourself!! :rotfl2: Sorry I couldn't resist!

I only want a couple million, that's not too much to ask, I have made deals with God, so far he hasn't accepted any of my offers, but I won't give up. Again - like I wrote above - he could have gone easy like I would have and done a clothing line for chubbies called, "Big Butts," or a bra company called, "Chest Butt's" or an girdle underwear line called, "Pushin up Your Butts" it would have beat out Spanx if he would have only thought of it!
I guess with a name like Butts it probably puts you in mind of wanting to be humble, otherwise everyone would think you were making a butt of yourself!! :rotfl2: Sorry I couldn't resist!
You are a riot! :rotfl2:
I can't wait for more Poly is my Dream!
So you are saying we dream the same? That is kinda personal while we are in the first stages of gettin to know ya. Let's take it slow.

What's your favorite color? :rotfl:
I am so totally loving your hair like this!! And I love this picture, your not trying to be anything but loving the moment. :lovestruc:cloud9: I love it!
It was a total surprise and he did catch me off guard and I adore that picture. I hardly have any up in my home of me but that one is on the mantle.
I agree. Someone insane might say they didn't like this hair do.:lovestruc
Creeper. :lmao:
DAWN! How did I miss that you started a PTR?? I guess I was busy at the emergency room. ;) I'm here now and I'm in!
What?! I am going to have to investigate on why in your thread!
You are going to loooooove the Poly!! :lovestruc
Please God let it happen! :worship:
Hiya! I know I'm a bit late to the party, but I followed you over here from your trip report. We'll be in the World from December 12-22, and I was wondering if you had figured out what park you'll be in on what days? I'd love to say hello one day, because aren't DIS stalkers just the best? :rotfl:
Will get up the itenerary today and would love a meet! maybe we should do an adult night meet for thode that can or breakfast!
I admit it I've been stalking. But you joined in September so not too long! Not like the creeper above!:surfweb: I've been along for your other ptr and your tr and all the trauma of Baylor's and your incredible families coping skills and true devotion to each other.:lovestruc

mine is Dan too and we've shared 25 incredible, crazy, heartbreaking and wonderful years and I love him more today than I did then. He, like your Dan, is my soulmate. That makes me look so forward to the future! Thank you for sharing that! Thanks for bringing us along.:thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2 wouldn't miss it!
Really I am sincirre when I tell you guys that means the world to me.

I love that on the HEB products it has H.E. Butts' signature on all the packaging!! :lmao:
Does he have a picture of his better side?
Dawn - I, too, am a stalker, er I mean lurker. I may have commented at one point on your TR at some point, maybe. :rolleyes1 I've laughed and cried, and sometimes cried from laughing, from reading your reports!! :lovestruc your TRs and your families strength in the face of adversity!
Thanks for comming out and letting me know you are here!

I grew up in a small town in Texas that had a Piggly Wiggly and I still call grocery carts, buggies!!! So I think I might be redneck enough to join in on this TR! :rotfl2:
I am honored to be in your presence. :yoda:
I am soooo super jealous of that deal at Poly. I'm thinking I need to go down to the Disney Outlet store near by and see if they need part time relief workers!! Those discounts are insane!!!
can't hurt to try - he applied and it took over a month to find out if he got it![/

Can't wait to see what all y'all've got planned for this trip and will be rushing over to your Dec 08 TR now, to read your new posts!!! :goodvibes
Hope to see you there!
The Poly, one day I will have a stay at the Poly, or WL. We are not there yet - saving and stealing to get there for sure!
Aside from how unbelievable caring Dan is right now, just how much did his stock go up when he got that Disney store job? Did he tell you he was applying?

I actually was in there and asked if they were hiring and got him the application since we had talked about him getting a part time job. But now, even though the discounts and tickets are not quite as good as in Florida at WDW itself, it has brought his stock through the roof. He grew sexier by leaps and bounds! I tell him I want him for his Mickey. :rolleyes1

HI!!!! I'm here!! So excited for this tr!!

What colleges are Treyner looking at now?? How's Carsyn enjoying her junior year? That's so crazy that she doesn't want her license until she parks better!! But good for her!! How's Baylor doing?

Can't wait for more!

P.S. I have seen a Kum n Go in person. If I can remember where it is, I will take a picture! I can't believe they wanted to name their stores that!

Yeah you found us! :cool1:

#1 - Treyner is looking at a few more NCAAII schools in South Carolina and has been offered full rides to a few NAIA schools in NE.
#2 - She is good for the most part but in deep doo doo from me - lost her glasses though and needs them because she has an irretation on her eyes from contacts. Guess what she is getting as an early Christmas gift! Just bought them last Sept. :headache:
#3 Baylor is good - hitting some stores tonight to get him jeans - he has high water pangs now! :lmao:

Have a Great Day!

How fabulous you get to stay at the Poly! :lovestruc I'd love to, but since we live down the street, never gonna happen.

Since the Pig started in Memphis in 1916, and I grew up there, Memphis, not the Pig, :cool2: there's a replica of the first store in the Pink Palace museum which was built buy the founder as his private residence but he never lived in. How's that for a run on sentence? :rolleyes1 Much cooler store than the one's they have now.

Dawn,

I don't post very often on trip reports. I usually just suck the information that I need out of them, get my Disney fix and move on (that doesn't really paint a very pretty picture of me, does it). But I've been drawn into your previous report and I'm thrilled to see a new one in the works. Your family is amazing. I hope that my boys (they are still pretty young) have as close of a relationship as your kids do with you and each other. It has been a real treat getting to hear all your family's adventures. Thank you!

I totally understand. People stay here at the Mall of America hotels and I envy them to just go and shop and go and drink and go and shop again. Can't justify it here.

How on earth did I miss the start of this PTR and not get here until page 4? Seriously, work is interferring in my DIS time. I'm going to have to talk to my Artistic Director about this.

Dawn - I think you are using an incorrect term. My father informs me (and he would know) that in Minnesota, we are NOT rednecks, we are Jack Pine Savages. Same concept, its just that we have to deal with the cold and snow and don't have great bbq or something. :confused3

I live in Texas but we don't have HEB - we only have Central Market (which is the "fancy" Whole-Foods style HEB store). :snooty: It does sell HEB products though and my husband, who is from New Jersey, didn't believe me when I told him what it stood for. Yep, we live right in Dallas, about a mile from downtown actually. The Central Markets are nice but it's one of those places where you walk out with two bags of groceries for $60 or more!

And just for the record, I do have an older sister...we're not related right? :lmao: Surely no one would describe me as a PITA....:rolleyes1

Since you mentioned the Tampon Lady, (which by the way that story in your TR was hilarious) I wanted to say that the scented Tampons make great air freshners, I have one hanging in my car as we speak. I hung a few in Jim's closet, he didn't like that at all bu tdid admit it masked the stinky feet odor of his shoes.

I told Kent that your man got a P/T job at the Disney store, I went on and on about how great Dan is to support your Disney habit, and how much his stock went up, I would kill for a man like that etc...etc... He never said a word the whole time, and when I was done with my rant, (It was quite a rant too, I just gave you the short version) anyway, once I finished my rant, he took out his wallet and gave me $100. I smiled and told him it was a start.;)

Last night Dan was sitting at the computer as we tried to figure out what Day where and WDW page showed that Princess Necrophilia (What's her tukkus from the new toad movie comming out) was going to be at WDW soon to meet and greet.

Dan goes, "Oh - no - she will be there - I told some customers she would not because that is what I was told."

:confused3

The fact he knew who she was and I didn't and went all Disney in caring for the customer was so funny. He explained to me who she was and this will be our new relationship.

I am more about the tickets, hotels and the park - he can fill me in about the details! :rotfl2:

Morning - I hate daylight savings because I always wake up at the same time...:scared1:

Here is the recent conundrum...

How do we get to Orlando and back?

We have reservattion the 17th - 23nd departing the 23rd.

Baylor will be in TeamBoat Springs, CO from the 14th - 18th for winter burn camp. Knew this about 2 months ago and just got ticket info from the camp. (They book and pay for all the kids expenses and flights.)

He arrives in MN the 18th at 4:10 p.m. from Denver and we can get him on a plane at 5:00 to Orlando for $180 one way right now arriving at MCO at 9 p.m. Since Christmas is the week after that weekend and flying = way expensive.

Flying from Denver to MCO was more expensive and no direct flight and a 2-3 hour layover in Atlanta or Chicago and flying solo from 11 am - he got into MCO at 9 pm anyway.

I am okay with him flying solo from Mpls to MCO direct - the nurses flying with him would make sure he got to his next flight area before leaving with the rest of the kids for luggage. Plus this means my sister could pick up his suitcases and we would not be in Florida with winter ski gear. I would have his Florida bag with me - so all we would do is pick him up at MCO. Either with a car or ride the Magical express there and back with him. He has a cell phone and he has been there enough times that he could get from terminal to luggage while being on the phone with me the whole time.

Treyner thinks he is done with finals on the 15th. We could fly him to MCO one way for about $120 from Durango, CO on the 17th.

Dan, Carsyn and I could fly on the 16th at 5 p.m. and stay cheap or at the Poly for a night. Flights are $95 versus the next day almost $50 more pp one way.

Back is easy - Sun Country is $122 pp on the 23rd - all of us together.

#2 option we looked at was driving down to Florida flying back or flying down and driving back. Renting a car one way to Florida means they want you to pay for mileage since they want cars out of Florida and not in. Florida to MN no mileage.

Cost of the rental itself one way is about $130. Plus about $250 for gas.

We would have to fly Treyner and Baylor no matter what down, so add $280 on to that also.

#3 Renting both ways - means about $250 for rental plus about $500 in gas plus the $280 for Baylor and Treyner one way flight.

#4 Is fixing brakes on our Van and getting a diagnostic test (which has 212,000 miles - we bought this summer for $2,000 and drove it to Florida and back in June and Colorado and back in August. Runs good otherwise but for how much longer?) It is not a Grand or extended version so truly, leg room is an issue for Treyner and Baylor if we leave both 2nd row captain chairs in. We tried removing them for Colorado and just having the bench seat but then ran into the issue of 3 adults on the bench seat and Carsyn and her comfort.

Carsyn had kidney/bladder surgery in March and they implanted a pacemaker like device for her bladder in her upper tukkus area - it gets sore after sitting/leaning on it after awhile so the bench seat is not dooable for her at all long term.

We could fly Treyner home to MN from Colorado with his luggage on the 16th morning - he could dump most of his stuff at home and leave with us driving on the 16th afternoon with only 4 people in the van and fly Carsyn home or Treyner home on the 23rd and the rest drive back so not as squished.

I am so confused on what to do.

Driving our own car would only be about $450 in gas but we have to Fly Baylor in at $180 no matter what.

If Treyner flew to MN - his Dad is paying for it so that lessons my OOP.

The thing killing me right now is this - I want to have some time at the Poly for enjoyment of the resort. How much am I gonna have arriving just for the days at the parks and leaving right after? The answer is none. So why pay the extra money for the Poly if we will not enjoy it?

I have an open house today for Silpada and hope it goes well. If I can just build my business bigger this month it will all be okay - and no money stress...argh!

Hope I made any sense at all with this rambling - trying to make sure I have it sorted in my head to make sure i make the right decesion!

Dizneydawn

Real Costs:
Flying everyone round trip to MCO from all over and back home is:
$1290

Driving everyone down minus Baylor and driving everyone back:
$680 + brakes and diagnostic test - but brakes would need to get done sooner or later.

Flying everyone down and Renting a car back is:
$1080

If we drive - we are leaving the night of the 15th - getting there the morning of the 17th - staying somewhere the night of the 16th - Dan has free hotel stay - to have the 17th & 18th at the Poly.

Pick up Baylor at Airport the night of the 18th - leave the morning of the 23rd to get home the 24th - drive straight through back.

I don't think we can justify flying right now - the huge issue is where Treyner will end up for college second semester and what the cost will be getting him there with his vehicle and flying him back to Durango with an adult to drive him to his next college (SC or NE) - if we did not have that big expense waiting for us - it would be much easier to spend double flying...

Or if I was a stripper - that could help as well....

Kay - so when did you find the original and glad you felt the need to come out of the screen today!

Hmmm...last week I found your trip report - must have been through your signature on someone else's report but I have no idea whose...then when the TR mentioned Baylor's burn I had to go back and read the PTR to get the whole story. OCD, who me?

Thanks for the welcome!

Hmmm, I think I would drive everyone down for the money and fly one person back...maybe have them draw straws to see who gets to fly! Three uncomfortable teenagers doesn't sound like a fun drive. And I would still stay at the Poly if you can swing it, you'll be able to spend time there I think even if you spend most of the days at the park. Certainly on MK day it would be easy to go back to the Poly for a few hours in the middle of the day.

Only other thing about driving, you live in the frozen tundra right? So is there a chance you would have to face icy roads that might delay your trip?

Oh can I fly with Baylor or Treyner? I'm closer to DIA, so I'll probably have to go with Baylor. That's okay though! I'm sure we would have lots of fun as he told me about all the stuff he learns in school (At a school that actually shows Captain Condom, I'm sure there is more interesting stuff!) and we could of course, eat bacon. (If you couldn't tell...I really like bacon.)

When is Treyner's last day of school this semester? Is there any way you all could fly out but he could drive his car out to Orlando? And then you wouldn't have to make a seperate trip back to CO and then have more room in the cars since you all 5 could spread out between 2 instead?

If there's any way to fly, I would try and do that. I can't imagine the trip from MN to FL with 3 kids stuffed in the car!! How much would it cost to get the brakes fixed? Is there anyone who would give you money towards that for a Christmas present?

If you do drive, go ahead and plan your route to go through Knoxville, please! :rotfl:

Hi! Jumping over from your TR!

If I were you, I think I would fly Treyner home from CO then all drive down together and fly Baylor down. I think that would probably be easiest.

Want to make a stop in NYC and pick me up along the way? :rotfl: It's goregous at Christmas! :santa::love:

But just my opinion!

Brianna?!?! :rotfl2: Just kidding, I know your not my little sister, and I'm sure your not a PITA. Your to cool for school baby! :cool1:

I have no idea what happened but I replied to all this yesterday with snappy wit and sarcasm and this morning - I am re-reading and find out my reply went to Neverland! So I will try it again!

"Hi! I'd like to purchase five annual passes. And I'll be paying in one dollar bills."

I don't have a spot to put my dimes and quarters when I am dancing so don't expect change!:lmao:
Ah, the smell of undeodorised people :lovestruc :rotfl2:

Or if you prefer the look of those who do not shave underarms regularly and have clumpy, white, deodarant balls stuck there! :scared1:
Don't you tease me - if Tampon Person isn't at Universal whilst im there im going to be so disappointed! :lmao:

I have a mission for you! Everyone has standard Universal pics...

You can walk up to random people and ask if they have atam, pon in their purse - like a scavenger hunt - then take a pic with them and the tampon and post them here!

That would be a flippin riot!

Who thinks Kelly should do this? Raise your hand!

See Kelly - we are in unison! (Did you really raise your hand or did you think about it and decide - why am I being controlled by some crack head on the boards? :rotfl2:

:confused3Now that's a complicated math problem....flying always seems easier it always amazes me Florida is only 3 hours away...Don't forget the flyer miles might mean a free flight in the future....can't wait for your itinerary details.
Jess - I know! Seriously! UGH! I want to fly and the drive may prove the deal breaker so drive vs not going = drive! I don't think I would be so opposed but we just drove 12,000 miles this summer and I am not a over the road semi driver!
Hmmm...last week I found your trip report - must have been through your signature on someone else's report but I have no idea whose...then when the TR mentioned Baylor's burn I had to go back and read the PTR to get the whole story. OCD, who me?
I am the same way. My ex hates it. If something doesn't add up or something doesn't make sense I cannot let it go.

He uses the word @nal. :confused3:rolleyes1:rotfl:
Thanks for the welcome!
I am really excited you are here!
Hmmm, I think I would drive everyone down for the money and fly one person back...maybe have them draw straws to see who gets to fly! Dan is thinking he is hot stuff right now cause that was his idea! Three uncomfortable teenagers doesn't sound like a fun drive. And I would still stay at the Poly if you can swing it, you'll be able to spend time there I think even if you spend most of the days at the park. Agreed!
Only other thing about driving, you live in the frozen tundra right? So is there a chance you would have to face icy roads that might delay your trip?
That would seriously stink. Or the car breaking down!
Oh can I fly with Baylor or Treyner? I'm closer to DIA, so I'll probably have to go with Baylor. That's okay though! I read this to Baylor last night and he thinks you are so funny!
When is Treyner's last day of school this semester? Is there any way you all could fly out but he could drive his car out to Orlando? And then you wouldn't have to make a seperate trip back to CO and then have more room in the cars since you all 5 could spread out between 2 instead?
The issue with that is he will have an entirely packed Jeep cooming from Colorado. We are actually talking about flying Dan down there or his Dad - on the 14th is plausible and leaving that night after finals and driving to his next school. That would be either in Omaha or SC. Then me meeting them there. It would be about a 4 hour longer drive either way but at least we would not have to know we have to go back to Colorado after Christmas to get his stuff. We could leave his car either place at friends or family until school starts.
If there's any way to fly, I would try and do that. I can't imagine the trip from MN to FL with 3 kids stuffed in the car!! How much would it cost to get the brakes fixed? Is there anyone who would give you money towards that for a Christmas present?
Let me introduce you to my family.

1st - They do not get Disney at all.
2nd - They like to spend $100 on useless gifts they want you to have versus even $10 to put towards what you need/want.
If you do drive, go ahead and plan your route to go through Knoxville, please! :rotfl:

I am looking at that actually. We might need a place to store a car! :rolleyes

Hi! Jumping over from your TR!

Exactly! I just want to know the whole story - do you do this with commercials too? Because I am always talking to the TV about how the commercial makes no sense...and my husband says, "Liz, it is just a commercial!" Although I do now have him with me in telling the AT&T rollover minute lady to shut up! I can't believe her family doesn't use all those extra minutes telling everyone what a witch-with-a-b she is!

So on my TR I talked about my sister and the fact I wish I could make up my own family.

This lead me to a brain fart and I think I like the idea. Stand back as I know it is scary!

What if we had a huge Secret Santa Swap here? :santa:

Here is my thoughts:

#1 - have all interested e-mail me their info (Dis name, real name (can be first only) and address and a few things about yourself.

I will coordinate a secret Santa Exchange.

I will draw names out of bucket and you will be assigned a person to buy a gift for. I will forward to your e-mai,l the info I rec'd on the person you have.

This way you can know them a bit better and maybe get some ideas on what they would like.

#2 We can set the dollar limmit - I was thinking anywhere from $15-20 max OOP - value is based on how great of a deal you want to find! I also think that made items like cookies or what have you are awesome for those crafty people out there!

#3 If you commit to doing this - you need to honor that commitment because I don't want anyone left out who is expecting a nice surprise.

#4 Gifts must be mailed by Dec 11th to ensure good timing.

#5 If you want to send something to someone else/kid or adult of someone on here - send me an e-mail also and I will okay it with the party receiving it and let you know if that is kosher.

For example - I only have one niece to buy for and I truly love giving gifts so if money allows - I would love to send an extra something to someone.

I was thinking of doing a kid exchange as well but I know with the economy that can get a bit much and some here do not have kids and I would not want them to feel left out if they wish to give.

Most important to me -
I think that it doesn't matter what faith you follow or what your beliefs are - reaching out in a gesture of good will and kindness is always welcomed and not something most see - so I hope you all understand the spirit in which this is offered up and if you can participate - awesome and if you cannot/choose not to - no hard feelings at all.

If you wish to participate - let me know please.

My email is Dizneydreamz@yahoo.com - please list "Secret Santa" in the Subject line so I know it is not spam! :thumbsup2

Or so my dad says the man can fix anything with duct tape and lagbolts. Anyway my son is 20 and he is an only child by his choice. We asked he said nooooo and after him we are sure we made the right choice. He's not a bad kid just unmotivated very smart but confused.Maybe he will grow up eventually keeping my fingers crossed. He is going to stay home and take care of the menagerie while we are at WDW. DH and I are celebrating 25 years together while we are down there. We met on Dec. 3rd 1984 forever ago we've been married 23 1/2 years and he is my soulmate. You wanted to know more about us. Had enough???? :thumbsup2

I am glad you will have some alone time. Never enough info!

Don't make me come down there and slap you for being too quiet! OK! :hyper2::chat::hyper2::chat:

That would probably involve hijaking a moped like on Dumb and Dumber!:moped: The mental images that come with this sentence..... :rotfl:

Morning babe. Thank you for understanding that I need to write sometimes! Awwww.

If you ever call me Ma'am you can kiss your lover time buh bye! ;)I know! What's with this ma'am thing?!? Aren't we the same age?

He is a hit and run kind of guy - enjoy!

See...right there it could be taken out of context but I so meant his posts...I am going to duct tape my own mouth shut now...:rolleyes1

I knew you would be so start quilting some toaster covers! :scared1:

Actually I envy people who can sew or knit or even latch hook. I made a pillow that was in the shape of a sundae in 6th grade and the cherry on the top, looked like a nipple. :rotfl2:

My mom can emroider and I love getting new dishtowels (the white soft kind) with stuff. Although she rarely does that.

I want an old fashioned tree upstairs this year (minus new fashioned lights cause I am not putting candles on my tree branches) and am trying to convince Dan how fun it would be to string popcorn. I id did it Treyner's second Christmas and swore my head off as I jabbed my hand 2 bazillion times with the darn needle....go around the hull you idiot...AROUND!:upsidedow

Ladies, I meant no disrepect at all. That is not my personality. I was simply replying as I had been taught by a family of military. Ma'am and sir was expected. More informalities were not allowed either in an age difference or in an opposite sex situation. I also was not allowed to call my family by name with out a title. Dawn still makes fun of me for saying "Uncle Curt" instead of Curt.

I truly apologize if I have offended anyone. :confused3

All they are is a small blanket to sit on for parades and metal cold benches at Seaworld and such, altho I don't think I bought enough material for those attributes, butt I love the picture and btw I loved Sally's red glasses. They are just easier to tote around then a full size blanket. Anything to make the pack lighter.

I said, "I had a question."
He said, "What?"
I said, "I don't remember!" :rotfl2: Then laughed like I had just seen pink elephants dancing on parade!

In other world news...I friggin want to just stay at WDW for Christmas to be happy versus dealing with extended family :headache:!

Also - I know this isn't a WISH thread but I am going to ask all my friends to help hold me accountable for food intake. I got the excersize part down - loving H20 aerobics, (6 hours and 20 minutes a week thank you!) I am meeting with a personal trainer this week and that will help. I am sucking butt though at my food choices so since it is my thread - I am going to post my food/sparkpeople totals here to each night!

If you don't see them - call me on it. I need to be on target 7 days a week from now till the wedding to be at goal and also I would actually love to be AT Disney and find a shirt that fits without finding the biggest size they carry.

If I lose 20 pounds before then - that would be a size down.

(And for crying in the beer - I can eat twenty pounds of food a week :sad2: so how can I not loose that! )

K - so now I am off to get the installment done on the TR and back here for the dining resies we have and which parks at what day saga!:cool2:

I can crochet-learned to do this when I quit smoking years ago-had to have something to do with my hands and time without going insane, the hands part worked out, still out on if I'm still sane-and I can sew some things but haven't done it in years. I use to make my DS's costumes for halloween, until he realized that the store bought one's were cooler. Why is it that we want what we don't have, I would have killed for my mom to make me a costume! :confused3
I love the idea of an old-fashion tree I want to see pictures if your able do it. I'm a little on the controlling side when it comes to the Christmas trees.....we have two living areas, one upstairs <kids play room/ t.v. computer room> and one downstairs. The kids tree is up, and my tree... ahem, :rolleyes1sorry...the family tree is downstairs.
I decorate the downstairs one of course, and the kids can decorate how ever they want with the upstairs.
In all honesty I kinda "supervise" the up stairs decorating too. ;) Just not when they're looking.

:confused3

NO WAY! Not offended here....if a bunch of smart @sses like us can read Dawn's reports and not be incensed ;) <you know I love you Dawn>along with her funny comments....then I think I can speak for everyone else here and say that no one was offended. Shoot! It takes a lot more than that to offend me, trust me! (I think everyone was trying to give you hard time)
Dan, I live in Texas, everyone is Ma'am-Sir or Ms.-Mr. What-ever-your-name-is, so no worries. Chill, Jelly man.....as Crush would say. :)

I just finished making my dis badges and I am sooo excited they turned out really cute. As you know I am an eeyore fan and I had the toughest time finding Eeyore stickers that weren't puffy ( you can't laminate when they are puffy I tried) But I found the cutest stickers in the Hallmark store today. Way cool. Wish I knew how to post pictures to show you but I am a computer illiterate . I just had to tell someone my family all think I am nuts. I also found the coolest Mickey material to make but blankets for our trip I can,t wait to see how they turn out.:woohoo:

Oooh, I would love to see what you made, I'll keep my eyes open for Eeyore stickers in the future non-puffy of course. ;) See if you can get someone to help you up load some pictures on photo bucket and then onto here so we can see your new goods that your making. I bet the crafty people on the Disboards would love to see it too.

But I see you meant a gift exhange between kids. My bad.

The picture of the lovely voluptuous ladies in their bikini's...nice Dawn, where do you ge these pics from?:lmao: I sent that one to my son Jim, cause he loves big butts and he cannot lie.

Dawn!! I totally know what you mean about wanting to be able to buy a shirt at Disney that isn't the biggest size they have. Heck, last year was the first year I ever remember finding a woman's shirt larger than a XXL. They finally had 1, 2 and 3 x shirts and hoodies etc. But it would be so nice to not dig around at fifteen stores to find the one design you like in the size you fit in. So I'm your huckleberry! I'll be glad to help in anyway, WISH board or not!

I'm doing WW with hubby and have the food counting down but suck at the exercise. Funny what comes easier to some than others. I guess I need to find a place for water aerobics since you seem to be enjoying it so much!! Have lost 12 lbs in about a month. Not Biggest Loser standards but I feel it's something that I can do slowly but surely and hopefully not pack back on as soon as I LOOK at a cookie.

Good luck!!!!!

Now where's your food journal for the day, missy?! :snooty:

ok.... now I'm all caught up over here too!
I know what you mean about the Poly being your dream resort. We are staying at the Wilderness Lodge for the first time in 4 weeks. It has been DH's dream since he stepped foot in it on our honeymoon. We got a good deal, nothing spectacular and amazing but good enough for us to book it! We will be there from Dec. 6- 11th and I'm hoping for low crowds (although not too low according to DH... is there such a thing as too low??). Anyway I'm loving your report over here too!

I'm an Arbonne Consultant, and I know of what you speak! Personal Freedom is the best, isn't it? Your children look great, Bailor is so inspiring! I'm glad he's doing well.

I am from Minnesota too - funny that you don't shop at Piggly Wiggly (gotta love that name) MN and North Dakota are the only places I've seen Piggly Wiggly!

You know I'm totally in for helping you with your weight goals, and I know what you mean about trying to find a shirt..... I'm actually past finding a shirt or use to be before Disney bought the stores back. Now I actually have the option to by a 3 X although I find myself not wanting to,:sad2: it's hard to buy clothes that I know I should be smaller for. I did recently buy some tinker bell pj's for our trip in May....I knew they were going to be to small because the size on the tag reads bigger than they fit, so I figured it would give me incentive to lose at least to the point of being able to wear Disney clothes again. I am down about 14 lbs. and not because I've tried, I just cut out drinking caffeinated non-diet sodas, which isn't a huge deal since I usually didn't drink more than two-three a day, but at least it's a start. :yay: So Tink pj's here I come! ;)
By the way Dawn, I ate breakfast today, I forgot to tell you when we talked, and I ate a healthy breakfast!! 1 package of Go Lean Oatmeal, with 2 tbs. of ground flax and a cup of blueberries. I did good! It's not huge, but it's a start. :cheer2: I know your going to get to your goal, you've got all of us to support you and it sounds like there are some others on here in the same boat, we can all help one another! :yay:

I grew up the same way...and I have a friend whose 13 and 15 year-old-daughters still call me Miss Elizabeth. Of course we are southern.

In law school one of my friends (also from Texas, we went to school up east) said "yes sir" to one of our professors and he thought she was kidding and thanked her for the false sign of respect.

Something that matters...cause we are beginning to sound like a Sally Jesse eppisode and I do not want to break out my big ole Red Glasses....

I used to have a pair of those glasses in high school!

Those sound like a great idea. :thumbsup2

Initials at the bottom corner? Those were the days!

Funny side note - so I am logging everything on sparkpeople - including the pickle that went with my sandwich at lunch - and here is why I know God gave us stupid people for entertainment!

Great Value (WalMart brand) Kosher dill spears - have only 5 calories in it. Then you travel up to serving size - and guess what?

That is 5 calories for 3/4 of a spear! :confused3:lmao:

Who the He11 eats 3/4 of a spear is question #1. #2 is I want to know which of your three friends will you submit to being the stump eater when 4 of you are hanging out at a picnic next summer and only want to eat 1 serving? With 4 people there is 4 servings in 3 pickles.

Do you cut the 1/4 off or do you just bite it off and spit the nub in her hand? Maybe her mouth like a mama bird? :scared1:

The scary part is that some dumb @ss is making more money than me because they have "food controller" or "food scientist" after their name.

That is a great conversation for Thanksgiving. Put your relish tray out with only 3/4 spears on them and then toothpick 3 nubs together seperately. It would be a riot to have a hidden camera in the kitchen to see peoples reaction!

Food totals for yesterday :

Total Consumed Allowed Left
CALORIES 1,400 1,200 - 1,550 0 - 150
CARBS 195 163 - 236 0 - 41
FAT 47 32 - 56 0 - 9
PROTEIN 53 60 - 12 7- 74

Did well yesterday but what killed me was sodium!

Need to never buy artificial crud again in anything because even if it allows you to eat within your range for everything else - sodium is so high it will kill you.

Last night made popcorn on the stove - brought it downstairs as we watched a family movie - did not have hot cocoa that I made for everyone else - and then started eating it.

Anout 4 handfulls in - thought - WTHeck am I doing and stopped. No measure means no mouth!

That was a victory for me!

Anyway - I am up early and off to water aerobics boot camp at 7:15! I am not sure if I will do my regular class after or not. Depends if I am dead!

:scared1:

Serving sizes drive me insane!!!

Did you know that Uno's Pizzo puts things on its less than 500 calories menu based on the serving size being half of what they put on your plate?? And 1 POP Tart is a serving so why do they package two together?

3/4 of a pickle is the silliest thing I've ever heard, though!

Yes! There are so many stupid ones - muffins where the serving size is 1/3 of a muffin. And at Pei Wei every dish is 2.5 servings, and they don't include rice in the calorie counts.

I bought some chip dip today and the serving size is 1/2 TEASPOON.....ok, I'd like to meet the person who has the will power to only eat 1/2 a tespoon of french onion and bacon dip....that's barely enough for one "dip".

Chips are funny too!! They all say something along the lines of 14 "crisps" or chips or whatever. First of all, more power to the person who does count them out, but there are always so many broken ones. Do those people like try to fit them together and see if they can make a somewhat whole chip to count?

Yes. :lmao: Although in my calorie math 3 halves equals one whole.

Actually, when I am really "on" with my eating, I weigh most things instead of counting them out.

But considering that I ate McDonald's french fries at midnight last night, this is obviously not one of those times.

A mini TR that has nothing to do with Disney...June 2009 - Sioux Falls, SD

This past summer we put over 12,000 miles on the van :drive: and were in the car more than out. 3 kids all in traveling soccer meant a lot of weeknights gone but Treyner played on a state team so all of his games were out of state. Indiana, Illinois, Wisconsin and he made the Regional playoffs in Sioux Falls, SD.

We had bought a tent to try and save money on hotels for a lot of the summer and only ended up using it for this weekend! I love camping though so can't wait till next summer and more time to spend at campgrounds.

I went with Treyner, Carsyn, Baylor and Carsyn's friend Leah.
http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s129/dizneydawn/Sioux%20Falls%20June%202009/P1020288.jpg

Dan had to work that weekend (Father's Day) and it turned out that only the younger kids and I needed to stay in the tent. Treyner, needed to stay with the team at a 4 star hotel. So I paid $50 a night for him to share the room with 3 other guys and $20 a night for our campsite. Sweet.

When we bought the van, we knew the air conditioner did not work. Dan is pretty mechanical though, so he fixed it and we took the van out sans Dan on it's maiden voyage. :boat: Left about 11 am when we had planned on a 8 am departure. The one ready, besides me, on time, was Leah, who lives next door. :sad2:

We made it 30 minutes away and everyone was hungry and I decided I had no want to unload a cooler already. Hit Subway/Taco Bell and as Treyner re-started the van to leave we had a problem Houston. (Did I mention we parked right in front of the door? Like 2 feet from the door and now it is lunch hour.)

Treyner starts the van and a huge explosion of steam and goo flew up from under the hood, missing by inches a few women in heels walking into Taco Bell. :scared1:

Treyner opens up the hood and becomes Inspector Gadget.

Why do men do that? Just because they have a passion for cars does not equate to a doctorate in mechanics. They look under the hood like they are expecting to have an answer and are perplexed when they don't.

I love to cook. I have 20 million cookbooks. I watch the Food Network and Travel channel, yet if someone throws a zebra carcass on my kitchen floor I am not going to walk around it, inspecting every angle and deciding how to make it a delish evening meal. popcorn::

A guy walked by and said he would drive us to his mechanic. Sounded good. What it turned out to be was the new AC compressor that Dan and Treyner had just put in, blew a seal and for $15 he put a new seal on it but thought it needed an overhaul again to have AC. That would be 2 hours at least and about $200.

No thanks. We had a 5 hour drive ahead still, were already running late and how hot could it be in June?

Freakin Hot. :beach: That's how hot.

We drove straight there, taking the shorter mileage route via highway vs. the freeway.

Mistake #2. Road construction that took us 40 miles further.

Treyner kept shooting me looks :furious: and I kept telling him he could walk. :tiptoe:

We finally arrived at Palisades State Park outside of Sioux Falls. I knew Treyner was the only one who had a clue how to put the darn thing up. It's a pretty big tent - sleeps 6-8 with 2 rooms.

The campsite was close to the showers and very nice and as we drove in, I saw a good omen in my world.

http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s129/dizneydawn/Sioux%20Falls%20June%202009/P1020289.jpg

The campsite was amazing. No pool but a river within a huge row of rock walls. Stunning. The tournament/Treyner's hotel was about 20 minutes from our campground. We explored the area and let the kids play in the river before we dropped Treyner off.

http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s129/dizneydawn/Sioux%20Falls%20June%202009/P1020296.jpg

http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s129/dizneydawn/Sioux%20Falls%20June%202009/P1020292.jpg

http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s129/dizneydawn/Sioux%20Falls%20June%202009/P1020301.jpg

As the kids were walking along the river, all of a sudden I hear Baylor yell, "Oh, no." Then I see Treyner chucking down the river after something. :confused3

Word gets back to me that Baylor lost his flip flop in the water and it is heading down stream fast. Now I had said, put on your tennis shoes and Baylor looses a single flip flop as regularly as a 1st grader looses teeth. :teeth:

Treyner is alongside the river, Baylor hobbling through the river because of the rocks. He was smart and grabbed a walking stick and threw his remaining flip flop onto the shore.

I am sure he can kiss it goodbye and the girls are being typical hens and clucking their disdain on how dumb boys can be.

http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s129/dizneydawn/Sioux%20Falls%20June%202009/P1020308.jpg

http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s129/dizneydawn/Sioux%20Falls%20June%202009/P1020300.jpg
Leah would kill me for not putting on her "normal" pic!

All of a sudden Treyner shouts a war cry of victory and holds up the flip flop. He is about 40 yards down river by now and has to meander his way back through the boulders. He threatened to shove Baylor in the water if he lost it again!
http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s129/dizneydawn/Sioux%20Falls%20June%202009/P1020304.jpg

http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s129/dizneydawn/Sioux%20Falls%20June%202009/P1020299.jpg

http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s129/dizneydawn/Sioux%20Falls%20June%202009/P1020302.jpg

We got all our belongings and all of us back into the car and then found Treyner's hotel. Dropped him off and told him we would see him the next day at his first game. Next door was a Hy-Vee grocery store and the 4 of us went in to get some staples. I was not expecting to find a huge Deli though, and they had a special for $5 per person to eat a salad buffet.

Again, I decide it would be nice to just have this and then eat at the campsite the rest of the trip. They had over 20 choices of salads and appetizers and for $5 pp - I could not pass it up. Food was good including their Swedish Meatballs.

Up next - Games, the falls and Devils gulch.

I would never ever ever drive without A/C. I'd sooner walk. Although, given where I live...I could usually do without the heater, so I probably would have made the same choice up there in the tundra. (sorry, I don't even know what a tundra is, I just like to say it.)

Great pictures, looks like an awesome trip! We always camped on road trips when we were young (hence the Ft. Wilderness stay in 1976) - we had a pop-up trailer. I think we sold it after we moved to Texas because it was too hot to camp in the summer.

I would never ever ever drive without A/C. I'd sooner walk. June here is usually in the upper 70's low 80's and maybe a crazy low 90's one or two days. My luck this was the start of Armagedan and it was 98 the whole 5 days we were there. Although, given where I live...I could usually do without the heater, so I probably would have made the same choice up there in the tundra. (sorry, I don't even know what a tundra is, I just like to say it.)
We are not super flat like a tundra - that is more North Dakota and Iowa - just depends on where in the state you are.

Nope. Although parts of my @ss have still not recovered! :rotfl:

We actually had a great time but 2 days after geeting home from SD we left for Florida and then 1 week after Florida we left for the Canadian Border. Then 2 weeks later we left for Colorado (28 hours one way) so if it would have been split up it would have been better. Florida might have been the only trip I would have flown for but $400 gas was cheaper than $1400 air flight and it was drive or not see our friends from Ireland - so drove we did.

Oh sweetie, you missed out! I just graduated in June 09 and we would always do stuff like that. In October, we had Spirit Week the whole week before Homecoming and each day was a different theme. Each year the themes for the days were different but some were, Decade Day (different grades were different decades), Superhero Day, Dress to Impress, Pajama Day, Opposite Day (same as Gender Bender - girls wear guys clothes, guys wear girls clothes), Color Wars (freshman wore yellow, sophomores red, juniors green and seniors blue) and "Raider Pride" Day where everyone wore school apparel or blue and white, which were our school colors. Everyone got SO into spirit week. Everyone dressed up and it was so fun!

It has been 16 years since I was that heavy, it's been up and down since then. Mostly lost on weight watchers or straight calorie counting. And I have a crappy metabolism so I have to work out, which I know you already do! Usually I am happy if I can buy clothes in the "regular" department...I am a 16 now so no room to move up, I need to get back in a routine. Once in a while I will stop eating white starches and sugar or I will stop drinking, but that is always a temporary thing. Giving up wine is the hardest thing for me to do nowadays. :headache:

Look, I learned something today! Tundra=flat. I live in a state where we call hills mountains so I know flat. And the last time I went camping, we only went for one night so we opened the sun roof, rolled down all the windows, threw a mosquito net over top and slept in our SUV. :rotfl: When it got too hot one of us would reach forward and turn on the a/c for a minute.

I have a gift certificate that my MIL gave me a while back to take a knitting class, (one of the nicest things she's has ever done for me) there's enough money on the gift certificate for lessons and to buy some needles and some yarn, I really need to get to it. Let me know if you get into a class, I can come up there with my sewing machine and you can teach me all your new sewing tricks, and I can teach you to knit! :thumbsup2

You sound a lot like me in that respect, I finally came to a place in my life that I decided to stop beating myself up over something that isn't going to change over night. The more I beat up on myself the worse I felt, then the more I wanted to eat certain things to comfort myself. Vicious circle, huh?
I use to have this internal nagging voice going on inside my head that told me I had to hurry up and do this, and hurry up and get this done....it always had me anxious and in knots about me not getting to certain things.
Of course some of those things were my weight, eating right, exercising or anything else that I needed to do. Finally one day when having one of my many conversations with God, the light bulb came on  to stop what I was doing....I had to trust more in Him to take care of the things that were in the way of me getting certain things done in my life, rather than trying to do everything in my own power.
He showed me there were things that needed nurturing, some things that needed healing, and some things that needed spiritual decluttering if you will before some of the pieces would come into place or barriers that I had been beating my head against for so long would finally come down.
Once I understood that, it's kinda been an easy process, s....l....o....w , but easy. ;) My timing has never worked out....but His is always perfect, go figure.

All of our days were made up by our student government and stuff so maybe they just weren't into Gender Bender days? :confused3 Sometimes they tried to get TOO creative and had like "Salad Dressing Day" where you could be 1000 Island and dress tropical, or Ranch and dress Western, etc.

Did your school do them just for fun or did they give out points between the classes and stuff? We had points and everyone got so into it and it was great!!

Hi Dawn,
Way to go on working out and calorie counting, I have never been a calorie counter cause my math sux, or I'm just too lazy, well both really, I love dill pickle spears, I just scrape off the juicy goodness and leave the pickle carcass though, I guess that's my way of counting calories. I'm still in physical therapy 3 days a week for 1 and 1/2 hours each session, I call that my workout. But dang it why aint I skinny yet?

I liked your camping story, I used to camp with my parents all the time as a kid, it's funny though, I had a boney little @ss and stick like legs but I could sleep on rocks and sticks never feeling a thing, now here I am and have the consistancy of bubble for a body but yet I lay on the tent floor, even with a pool float under my sleeping bag and I can feel every leave and shard of grass. Why is that? (I know you will have a great answer for that)
Are you ready for Turkey day?

Hahahaha Salad Dressing Day is very funny. We had points, but our homeroom teachers were the ones who totaled them up and some of them, esp the AP teachers, just couldn't be bothered with it, so the points weren't always accurate. And the school made sure the seniors always won. So all in all, our points system was pointless. It was mostly just for fun!

Ours was so pointless too. They really just had outfits of the day for points and then would have eating contests during lunch and stuff like that!! (Thank goodness I never had to do an eating contest...this one poor girl had to do hot dogs and they took her picture and put it in the yearbook! Its bad!) Seniors always came in first, then juniors, then freshmen, then sophomores. I think they always thought the upperclass deserved 1st and 2nd and maybe they didn't want to make the freshmen sad by being last? :rotfl: It always has been that way though!

Okay! Hi everyone and I am back in a 1/2 @ss way.

I appreciate everyone's kind words and I am starting to feel better. Was born with my right kidney not functioning and spent from March 96-Feb 98 in the hopsital almost 2-3 weeks each month before my 1st kidney surgery. Many since then and not all the big issues are worked out. Never fails taht I get an infection right around TOM (sorry if TMI but tough sh!t :lmao: you asked for it) and when it is a bad infection - my TOM is impacted and just misserable. Should be a few more days of torture and then finish up meds next week and then better. Not new for me but this infection is worse than usual and all the stupid stress from stuff doesn't help.

Good news is that I have some progress to report!

#1 Treyner's Dad is flying to Colorado to drive with Treyner on December 15th. They will drive home if he goes to the school in Nebraska. (only 6 hours away and doesn't start till end of January.) If he goes to Anderson University in SC - he and his Dad will drive to Knoxville (Thanks Shannon! :worship:) and leave his Jeep there. Treyner will then fly to Orlando to meet us - his Dad will fly home.

#2 We decided to fly to Orlando. Too much rigamaroll with everyone in different directions. Plus Dan now has to work out of state the 14th, 15th and morning of the 16th so driving just completely got screwed up.

Now we arrive on December 18th and depart December 24th. Will purchase airline tickets this week.

Tentative plans: Dan and I will fly in early and get there by 11 am so we can get rooms situated and a few surprises ready for the kids. I do not want to arrive at 1 a.m. and try and get the longhouse we want and then be ready for the parks the next day after getting things situated.

Carsyn will go to school that day and then my sister will pick her up and take her to the airport - she will meet up with Baylor - (she can carry his bag in with her at no charge) and they will fly together to Orlando on the 5 pm flight - ariving in Orlando at 11:15 p.m.

(bonus is that way my sister will be there to get Baylor's bag anyway that will be comming in from Colorado.)

They can manuvere magical express just fine together at 16 and almost 14 so I am not worried at all.

Treyner will be decided on when he flies in when he knows where he flies in from.

#3 Anderson College lost on Sunday in OT so the coach there should be giving Treyner a call soon to arrange a visit. I am guessing the first week of December. I want this part over so we know where he is heading next.

#4 Carsyn got her braces off this morning and she is so happy she may have also won the lottery and is hiding it! ;) We had a great weekend and she is really growing up. Making good and thoughtful choices and I am so proud of her! I will post a picture of her tonight or tom!

#5 - We still have a reservation at the Poly but in 2 weeks if money does not fall from the sky - we will have to change it to somewhere else. The flights are going to add $1,000 to the budget and if I have to choose for less days in Florida and drive or stay at a moderate or value and fly - I want my days there! I am okay either way. Huge relief jjust to get the lagistics ready to get there.

#6 Party went just okay yesterday - have a great recruit lead so that would be fantastic if I can make that work!

Need to go and get new reservations since we will be there different days for dining. Will post that tonight as well!

My sister was born with partial use of one kidney and had to have the tubes from kidney to bladder replaced cause they didn't work so I know exactly what you are going thru. We almost lost her several times growing up, she is fine now and hasn't had many problems lately thank god, I feel for you, wish I could fix it just like I felt with Jen.

Your sis and I sound like we have similar issues. I also had a right uretal (the tubes that connect the bladder to the kidneys) re-implantation in 98 and several stints put in since.

My biggest issue was that it went not diagnosed till I had 3 kids and now - they say I should not have had any because of the damage done.

Glad I did not know because I would not want to change them being here at all - but I have also passed on some genetic garbage to my kids I might not have chosen to do if I would have known. Carsyn just had kidney surgery in March and April.

My mom miscarried between me and my sis and almost died so the drs. gave her a drug to stop her from losing Jen and it caused all the problems, my mom feels guilt all the time . Jen had 2 healthy children and my mother is to say the least obsessed with them my niece is the spitting image of my sis only healthy and I know my mom feel very strongly about that. Let me tell you how bad it is, my mom is 67 and she is going para-sailing in Disney this week because my niece wants to go. Go figure, I personally think she's nutz but what do I know.I can't get her to drive over to my house alone, she's afraid she will get lost.
I'm glad you got to have your kids too they are great and I can't wait to see Carsyn without braces, she's gonna be a knockout, my son already says she's a hottie but he's too old for her. Hope treynor get the school he want and Baylor has a blast at camp, Don't worry if you don't get Poly as long as it's Disney you guys will have a blast, but I'll pray for a 40% off pin for you how's that.:wizard::wizard:Wish we were going together.

Everyone...Just Talked to Anderson College and guess what?

The coach asked for Treyner to come there! He will not be flying there to visit - coach said he knew enough about Treyner that he wants him there. He said, "Why uys waste $1,000 here for a 3 day campus tour when I know we want to give him a shot, he knows he wants to be here more than Nebraska and what does he have to lose? If he hates it here or we say he can't walk and chew gum, he heads to a full ride next fall at Dana.

So now we have the plans! Shannnon I will call you later and you better be ready for a visitor! :worship::cool1:

I am so excited for him and so proud of what he can do when he wants something. This was all on him and he is making some very adult decessions.

26 hours accross the US and leaving a college he scouted for over a year to go somewhere he has never seen before is pretty ballsy.

K - things are falling together finally!:thumbsup2

Update - (please don't throw shoes at the screen!) We are back to driving again - minus Baylor who is flying still from Minneapolis to Orlando on the 18th. Kids want to see Anderson, Treyner would like to scope out things a bit also so we will drive down on the 16th - get to Knoxville on the 17th and meet Treyner. Leave the morning of the 18th and get to Orlando about 4 p.m. Baylor gets in at 9:30 p.m.

Leave for home the morning of the 23rd - (lose one day at the Poly but that is a big chunk of money so actually makes it more affordable! :thumbsup2) go to Anderson - either spend the night or head out and get a few hours further and then - get home around 6:30 on the 24th - same time as if we flew.

We have no Christmas plans - so we can arrive at whatever time we get here. Stop and see anything we choose along the way!

I am so excited about Treyner and the kids are psyched about his new location. Close to the beach! Me too actually since there might be a chance he stays out that way and Dan and I have always said we want to relocate out there in about 10 years. Maybe the universe is connecting! Now we just have to get Carsyn to start looking east!

I think you just raised him right so he knows his mind, way to go. You are gonna have fun driving and it's not like your not used to it. We look at the drive as part of the adventure and this one ends in Disney how much better can you get.:cool1:

YAY!!! :cool1:

I'm super excited for Treyner. I will definitely have to go watch him play. :) Make your plans and then let me know. I can NOT wait to meet y'all! You're welcome here ANY time!! The rock slide makes it a little longer drive, but it's still quite doable.

Can't wait to hear from you!!

Anderson is in SC - the northern part. He will be less than 10 from Disney and about 5 from Hilton Head. He is already scheming to use my DVC points! :lmao:

Now we just have to pray it goes well there and he can stay put!:worship:

Anderson is in eastern South Carolina, about 5 hours from myrtle beach; 8 1/2 hours to orlando; 3 1/2 hours from knoxville (although right now it's 4 1/2 hours because of the rock slide), and about 30 minutes from my alma mater Clemson, SC.

(oops, sorry Dawn, we were posting at the same time. My kids are taking a quiz...)

That's an awesome costume! He has plenty of time to figure out a Scuba Steve costume for next year. Not sure if I missed a post, but what did Baylor and Carsyn get dressed as this year?

Congratulations to Treyner! I hope he loves it.

I was busy my senior year of college and didn't have time to look at grad schools so ended up going to law school at a place I had never been until I got off the plane the day before registration. Granted I was a little older (not much, I was 20), but it worked out great. :thumbsup2

Baylor went as a scary clown with mechanics jump suit and blood all over and Carsyn had an 80's outfit rockin! I will post pics!

Thanks for those words. I am glad we are driving now - I will feel a bit better seeing the school first hand. Have a mental pic of where he is and look the coach in the eye to let him know if my son is not in good hands I will send Shannn there to kick the cr@p out of him.;)

Wow! That's a private Christian College isn't it?
Being that he's moving into a school in the second part of the year he may feel like the people there will be a bit on the snotty side (they've made new friends from the start of the year, they some times make outsiders feel....well just that) which doesn't bode well for a bunch of Christian kids, does it?
Knowing a little of his personality, and his good looks thrown in...it will be no time before he's making friends. My neighbor's daughter transfered mid year to a private Christian college and had a hard time feeling like anyone wanted her to "join in," for those same reasons I mentioned. It's not right, but it can happen, so tell Treyner to just be aware that it can feel off at first, and that it will take some time to feel like he's apart of things.

Now we just have to pray it goes well there and he can stay put!:worship: He will. The transition, as with any transition is never fun, just rest in knowing that he has so much going for him that he's bound to make it work. The fact that he has his team right away will help get him started, his great personality, charm and handsome face will get him in the door quicker than most. :3dglasses

He get's that from you, you know. I've never been one to describe a woman as "ballsy".....but he's been able to make these huge changes and do it with great determination and great confidence, because he's watched an incredible woman do it. ::yes::
He's watched a woman who had what she didn't want in her life and because it wasn't working she changed it.....good, bad, right, wrong or indifferent, you went after what you wanted and made your situation into what you wanted and needed.
Without Treyner seeing you do this, he may not have had the courage to make the huge changes he's made, your a good mom Dawn, and your an amazing woman....through adversity you still make things happen, you still go for your dream and NEVER have you let it beat you or take you down, your a fighter!
By heaven or high water you'll make it grabbing that brass ring baby, you'll finish the race! Your babies have seen that!
THAT, my dear sweet, funny, friend is why your boy can make these decisions, and changes without batting an eye....he's had you as the example.
I love you lady :lovestruc, keep up the amazing work.

Hysterical! My DH works at a local restaurant/bar and this year's winner of the halloween costume contest was a guy dressed as Ace Ventura in the scene where he went to the home for the mentally ill. With the tutu and the even crazier hair. :lmao:

I just told him that and he said he looked for a tutu but could not find one in his size!

Millie - Thank you for the great words and the encouragement and belief in me and my parenting. I value your friendship and love ya right back!

Update - Treyner hit huge pothole that had a rock in it - end result - he needs $350 in work to his car. I think Carribean Beach Resort is calling! ;)

Erica

I get it - cause really - I am blessed to be there - greedy is what I feel right now.

So a few pieces of food for thought this day.

#1 Carsyn passed her drivers exam! :worship::cool1: Can we all say..."FREEEDOM!" In our best Braveheart cry! I am having a great day!

#2 To celebrate we went to lunch - a rarity for this house and esp just her and I...and it was chinese (and my @ss will be bloated for 3 weeks form the sodium....and guess what - I did not enjoy it that much and now have gut rot so I will not be eating that again! So it is a good sign my taste buds are changing along with my attitude towards excersize and nutrition! k - that was the longest side not in the history of man kind...:rolleyes1) and guess what my fortune said? I kept it so I could share with you all.

"You shouldn't overspend at the moment. Frugality is important."

Can you see where this is heading?

Then we went to a thrift store we have frequented in the past and got really good deals from and is associated with a church we enjoy attending.

Carsyn and I decided since our families are a bunch of butt munchers right now - and that means no Holiday gatherings for extended family and less gifts to give to people who don't need anything anyway - so instead of giving to Toys for Tots like ususal - we are adopting a whole family of 5.

It is a family that both parents lost their jobs in the past 2 months, they have a 19 year old son and just had a sister of the Mom - drop off 2 kids on their doorstep. So now, no job and 2 more mouths to feed.

How can I justify spending $500 plus more on the Poly? We are going, we will have a great time and right now that $500 could go to another family who is in need of things beyond the desire to stay at my dream hotel. It will happen. Truthfully though, I will feel better about my life using that money to help another family than us staying Deluxe.

That is where I am at today - my luck is that the Carribean will be full, Off to make some calls.

Hope my blabbing makes sense to you all! :flower3:

UGH....they are saying all mods are full and now I am seeing about value...and...they say that the code was for the QS plan -not the Basic plan.

He is saying nobody understands that. I am not happy - I am hoping the will honor what has been told to me by 4 different CM's - I wrote down their names so hopefully that will help.

UGH
