I will keep a list of families participating in the FE (fish extender) exchange on this page. I should be able to edit it regularly. I will PM all the participants the personalized info as we approach the sailing date.

If you would like to participate please PM me or post your information on the thread. FE exchange is lots of fun when several families participate. Also, if you already contacted me, but don't see your name, please let me know. I don't get to check the boards everyday, and I would hate to miss someones message.

Happy Halloween. Only 2 big holidays left til we cruise!!! I'm off to the Disney Store and other stores in hopes of finding some clearance princess dresses and pirate gear!

Found a cute little pirate costume for $7 at walmart for DD:yay:. Also hit the Disney store and picked up a cute Belle tiara for $4 and some snow white shoes to go with her snow white dress for $7. Very excited to get that stuff done.:woohoo: DH and DS are just going to wear some t-shirts w/ a rib cage on them and maybe a skull cap & eye patch. So I've gotten my pirate night shopping done.:yay: It's starting to feel like it's getting closer to vacation time.:woohoo:

pirate:I did the same thing... found myself a "lady" (yes I use the word loosly) pirate dress. Elizabeth (DD-11) was a pirate for Halloween and Kari can use the outfit from our last cruise. Last time DH went pretty casual...thinking of picking up a hat for him... Wonder if they will still be available when it all goes to 75% off???pirate:pirate:

just ordered a couple of cute dresses from Kohls.com. I've never ordered clothing online before so this should be interesting:laughing:. Found a Palo Brunch dress and a Formal night dress. God I hope they fit:rolleyes1. Should we be posting on this thread or the previous thread:confused3. I figured this one was taking over the last one since many cruisers on that one have had to xl their cruise. 76 days and counting:dance3::woohoo::yay:

I figured we were just moving over to this thread. Did some one post in the index thread?

I have not thought about what we are going to wear. I'm up about 5-10 pounds since my last cruise so the formal dresses that I wear on that cruise might not fit. I have no clue what my girls are going to wear for the forum night. Guess I should start looking around for dresses for them. I don't think they have any formalish dress that fit, unless they wear their princess costumes.

Hello everyone,

I think I introduced myself last time

http://i127.photobucket.com/albums/p139/swimchick1984/DSC_0018.jpg

This is myself and my husband. We will be joining you on the cruise. I am down for the DISMEET I will have to ask the husband if he will want to come. i have feeling he may just want to go do his own thing.

Was thinking of buying this dress for formal night, do you think that it's to formal?

Oh I would also love to do fish extenders, it's just me and DH I am 25 and he is 31.

Oh, LOVE the dress:thumbsup2! I don't think it's too formal. Last year I wore a long evening gown. This year I'm going w/a "tea length" dress. There were a variety of different styles on formal night.

Ok that dress it is :). I am so excited. However, I have soooooo much going on between now and the cruise. I am making and wrapping presents that have to be sent by the end of November.

Thats because my unit is sending me to Japan the first two weeks of december. If I have a day off and find myself in Tokyo I may just wander off to Tokyo Disneyland.:banana::banana:

Then anywhere from 1-6 days after I get back from japan is the best day of the whole entire year. What day might you ask is that???? The day DH is back from Iraq.:love::love::cloud9::cloud9::cloud9::cloud9: Yep Cloud 9 day. :)

Then its like 2 short weeks and we will be on our way to Disney. I'm so excited. (Hmm I just watched Transformers 2 and had a flash of bumblebee in my head when I typed that)

A moderator has been informed of the need to combine the two threads and redirect to this one, just hasn't happened yet.

---So, did our booking tonight! We got the Sunday Palo brunch, Thursday Palo dinner, a Cabana massage for two, as well as a second massage for DH on day one. Especially excited about getting the Cabana massage. There were two bookings left and I snagged one of them!

I also ordered a 60s inspired black tea length that I thought would be great for formal night. It's straight out of mad-men, crinoline and all. I just hope that when the website says size 12, it's my size 12 and not a 12 that's actually an 8 .

For those talking about trying to loose weight, I'm right there with you on the desire front (I too, had surgery that had me gaining a lot of weight). Not sure it will happen, but the desire is there. I'd love to have the guts to wear a two piece again.

Found a Palo Brunch dress

What is appropriate for Palo brunch? In my head I'm picturing nice Easter dresses.

I think I need to get a checklist of what is what each night, so I am dressed as correctly (as in fun fun fun) as I can be.

I agree... I am actually hoping I have booked Palo on formal night, so I don't need so many dresses:rolleyes: We have a brunch booked, and although I have never been, I'm thinking a pretty sundress is appropriate. Actually, I was being earnest in the fun fun fun part! I love dressing up, but don't get to nearly enough. I'm hoping that I DIDN't book Palo on formal or semi-formal night! Of course, I might still show up on cruise casual nights all dressed up--just 'cause.

I felt so bad for you when I saw that post about having problems booking, I wonder if it's because of the Dream? I ran into the same problem you were talking about a couple of times, but it didn't last.

I showed DH that video of the water coaster and he wants to go, NOW, doesn't want to wait for the actual boat to be ready.

we have Palo on Thursday at 7:30 - will that mess up any shows? I wonder if I should try to make it earlier (if I even can) Love shows! I am a frustrated actress (just ask my family!).

Welcome swimchick1984 - I just want to thank you and hubby for your service. It can't be easy having him gone and my thoughts are with you!!:thanks: you too truly deserve a wonderful vacation and I hope it is filled with lots of pixie dust!

I didn't make any excursion reservations - like I said on the last thread - we are doing the Bernards Tour in St. Martin and I am really struggling with St. Thomas. I want to go to St. John, but I really think with the kids (9 and 5) that will be a lot of travel time for a short time on the beach. I am contemplating doing the Doubloon snorkel. We'll see...

Speaking of snorkels, we just got the kids their own (complete with fins!) and they practiced this Sunday (indoor pool). We have a little work to do with the 5 year old:goodvibes: but he'll get there.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Most likely not a problem. If you check past personal navigators you can see the show times for each night. I think the permanent shows run on the same nights and times for each eastern cruise.

I "lucked" across a clearance at a local store last week -summer leftovers 90% off - couldn't believe it.:woohoo: Kiddos are getting new snorkels, flippers, and masks with their surprise cruise this Christmas. My dh (Joe) and I (Julie) are coming on this cruise as well. I actually wanted to do the Western cruise, but this one was $200 cheaper per person- so Eastern we go. It's my first cruise, so I won't know what I'm missing anyway. :rotfl2:

I would love to do the DIS meet. My dh probably will want to do his own thing as well. This cruise is a birthday gift to my dh. Keeping it a secret is killing all of us. The kids know about it and I'm really afraid one of them is going to leak something out. :scared1:

We are all planning on giving him stuff for the cruise for christmas. He's going to think we're crazy when he opens up an under water camera in Dec.:rotfl: We're from the coldest part of Utah where it can be -20 this time of year. I'm telling dh about the cruise on his birthday (Jan. 9), so he'll have a full week to prepare to go. I called his boss yesterday to make sure he could get the time off work. She thought it was great. (BTW- dh boss is also my sil- so I felt okay about calling her.lol)

I'll post a picture of us as soon as I can figure it out.

So far I have planned:
CC- parasailing
St. Maarten- 2 flags tour
St. Thomas- catamaran sail and snorkel
Wed. night Palo at 7:00

As this is my first cruise, I really just hope I'm not messing everything up completely.

Also- we have cat. 12 GTY rooms. When and how do you get your room assignments for this? Do they email you or something??:confused3

How fun! Is it just you and your DH or on the kids going as well? If the kids are going, how old are they?

You seem more planned then I am. I have no clue what we are going to do while in port. I think we are just going to do a beach on St. Maarteen. Not sure about St Thomas. I had wanted to do St. John's but not sure it is worth the time to get there with two 4 year olds. Last time we went to St. Thomas on a cruise with the girls we did an aquarium then a beach.

DH booked us a couples massage as a surprise, but I saw it when I went online to fill out our passport info. We also have Palo booked for the 4th night of the cruise, but think we might cancel it, or change it to the 5th night if we can. By the time we went to book Palo, there was no more spots for tea or brunch.

I wanted Palo for a brunch, but they were gone when I looked too.
The kids are not coming with us. This is our romantic retreat. We have 7 kids between us (his, mine, and ours) and a week break would be welcome. I homeschool the kids, so they get LOTS of mommy time. :) We just took them to WDW for a week in Sept, so they don't feel too deprived with us going without them. If we like cruising and I don't end up seasick the whole time, we'll plan our next cruise with the whole family. THAt will be awesome!!

Julie, I am soooo impressed that 7 kids can keep a secret. It's all my DH and I can do not to spill the beans to our kids:laughing: If you want a brunch at Palo you can go to Rockin' Bar D when you board to try to snag another ressie. This is the first time I have actually booked online, and we have always been able to get ressies at Palo fairly close to our desired times.

Lucy, glad you four are joining the thread. DH and I haven't decided on excursions yet. Why Bernards? I know other fellow cruisers are also using them. They must be doing something right.:thumbsup2

I wonder how full this cruise is??? I am not sure that I 100% love our room location (Cat 9 room 2128) so I go on every day to check #'s and the same ones seem to pop up. St Martin and St. Thomas were both very warm last year. Definitely warm enough to swim. Castaway Cay was warm, but I found it too cold to swim. My kids on the other hand had NO problem getting in the water there:thumbsup2

I completely agree with hgon! We have always found that the islands (St. Thomas and St Maarten) and always PERFECT for us! It gets around 80 and there are no bugs and typically a beautiful breeze. CC does get a little bit chilly and it is too cold for me to get in the water, but DH and kids jump in no problem! We still wear bathing suits (like low 70 degrees), but I make sure I have lots of towels to warm everyone up when they get out of the water! :rotfl:

We have always worn light jackets during the sailaway party, but it still feel warm compared to the temps we are leaving in MD!! :lmao:

I made it to Toys R Us this morning for "doorbusters". Christmas shopping is well underway:banana: I hope I'll be finished by the end of day on Black Friday (of course that is a 12 hour day for me:lmao:)

What happened to the Nordstroms dress??? I liked that one. Got my dresses in the mail from Kohls today.......and they fit:yay::dance3::banana:. I've NEVER ordered online for clothing before. :

I did for the first time last week, and it got delivered to the wrong place! or stolen, one or the other. Will find out after tuesday what happened.

hgon76 - Thanks for the welcome

Bunless - I'm jelous

All I've been doing since we booked the cruise is looking at dresses for formal night. DD has grown "more womanly" since our last cruise and can't even fit in my formals. I don't want something too grown up either! I'm hoping that there will be some good sales after the end of the year.

I look forward to getting to know everyone

I'm just going "closet shopping" for my dresses:goodvibes
I'm all about holiday shopping right now. My youngest also has a December birthday and I think I am getting him a DS lite so that is more $$$!!
I also want to get a new camcorder before Christmas (and before the cruise!) so I think any dresses for me will be out of the question. I won't be as formal as some of you, but that's OK. If anyone has a great camcorder they would recommend - let me know. I would love a small one that is HD and has removable memory.

This weekend has been beautiful in Ohio - perfect fall weather - so we have all been spending lots of time outside. In Cleveland, you never know when the sun will disappear for months at a time!

I'm also closet shopping. Hopefully I can lose about ten pounds before the cruise and be able to wear the dresses I wore last time I cruised.
Here are the 2 dresses that I'm hoping to fit into and pick from:

So what is everyone's favorite Disney movie? and do you have a particular reason it is a favorite?

My favorite I would say is Mulan, I dont have any special reason really. Maybe because I am in the Army and so is she. And its also all about women power and she does not take any flak. :thumbsup2

AimeeJ
11-11-2009, 12:41 AM
I second the vote for Mulan. It is my favorite because of the role reversals. When I was a kid my favorite fairytale was Petronella (about a princess who rescues a prince from an evil magician with a great twist at the end). I also love the soundtrack.

I didn't know that their were videos of the parties on youtube, lol. I will have to check them out!

I'm going to go with The Little Mermaid--a rebellious young woman who wants to spread her wings, and a father who just doesn't understand. Plus, every time I hear Part Of Your World, I get all misty.

We're back from Disneyland now! DH kept encouraging me to 'go and rub their noses in it'--talking about MY telling YOU ALL about being at Disneyland. They were doing a lot of the taping for the Christmas parade while we were there (had a Seacrest sighting--DH yelled out 'Can I get you a cookie!'). We were on Tom Sawyer's Island while they were taping 'Princess Tiana's Showboat Jubilee'. I'll have to watch the parade this year just to see if we're on there (normally, we're still asleep). It was fun, everyday going in and seeing more and more Christmas decorations up. I just wish that the tree was up in the Grand Californian lobby--that one is always so beautiful. It was our first DVC trip, and while we were *obviously* sold before, we officially are loving it now, even if our theme park view was obstructed (j/k we don't really get up in arms about that sort of thing). I'll post a couple of photos later on sometime.

We got back and YAY! my dress was here! It fits, even have to take in the shoulders a bit, happy day!

This weekend, I also found a dress for pirate night. Grey jersey sundress, with the girly pirate logo on the bottom.

In another month, I think I'll go closet shopping to see what actually fits!

Are you doing early or late seating? We are doing late. I'm hoping it works out. My last cruise with my girls(Carnival cruise) we did early seating and I hated it. The evening was way too long and there was not time in the afternoon. Of course we might have that same problem is all the shows are before dinner.

We're doing late seating. I hope that I don't hate it. We usually eat at around 6:30-7:00. I figured that the early seating would have more kids and the later one would have more adults. I don't know if that's true- and I like kids anyway. So, I guess I'll be happy either way. lol.

Hello All,

I booked this cruise the end of last month but haven't had a chance to jump in on the thread till now. My sailing party will be me (Bill) and two sisters (Maggie & Marilyn).

I wonder how full this cruise is??? I am not sure that I 100% love our room location (Cat 9 room 2128) so I go on every day to check #'s and the same ones seem to pop up... Just wanted to mention that not all available cabins show up in the list of cabin choices in the DCL online booking process. You may want to call DCL (or your travel agent if that's how you booked) and see if other choices are available.

Also wanted to mention that there is a military discount available for this cruise, so if there are any military members sailing in your group you may want to contact DCL or your travel agent and try to take advantage of that perk.

Looking forward to sailing with all of you!

Pacific Northwest Ballet, it's a mixed bill--Jiri Kylian's 'Petite Morte', a wonderful young German choreographer Marco Goecke's 'Mopey', a new ballet by Val Canaparoli 'Seasons', and a suite of dances from 'West Side Story'. I went to the dress rehearsal last week because I knew I'd only be able to go to one show--I usually go to two.

If you didn't guess, my tag-name is a reference to my not having a ballet bun. I'm a ballet teacher (I run a school). There's a ballet board where I have the name BunlessInSeattle.

As a former dancer, I could go for the rest of my life without seeing another Nutcracker. I blame the year that I did thirty shows in one season. Prior to this year, I've only had one year in the past 15 that I haven't participated in one in some way. This year we had to cancel the one I produce for our school, and while the reasons where not good ones, in a way I'm grateful for the respite for a year. It's almost like a mini-sabbatical.

Welcome tekmnky!

Disney makes things so easy that as long as there are no computer malfunctions (even Pixie Dust can't keep that from happening) that port operations are incredibly smooth. The biggest problem occures when guest forget their proof of citizenship or bring the wrong thing. If you are using a birth certificate for citizenship remember that the hospital one with those cute footprints is not official! Nothing sadder than a family denied boarding because they did not bring the correct ID.

One of my best friends was a solo performer on the Wonder for a couple of contracts, I get all the dirt and more.

There is much more drama onboard the ship, LOL.

I have to get my girls dresses. Just not sure what type I want to get them.

When our girls were small I dressed them in "formal" princess dresses...TOO CUTE! ... But alas, my girls are growing up and I doubt Kari (DD-9) would even consider wearing her Snow White dress in public :sad2: So, I'm hoping to find some "left over" party dresses after the holidays. They will probably be very cheap (and of course very picked over) by Jan 2nd.:rolleyes1

About the Garmin/Tom Tom/ Magellan. Gotta say I love my Garmin (we call her "Gretchen"). As one who could get lost in a paper bag she has saved my butt many times:goodvibes. It is a Garmin Nuvi 265wt with lifetime free traffic and bluetooth. At first I bought the smaller screen (3.5 inches) but then I traded it in for the 4.3 inch. I did lots of research on GPS and finally bought it on Amazon with free shipping. I just checked and it's about $193 right now. In fact, I am buying another one for my in-laws for Christmas (after using Gretchen they decided they had to have one!) Just my $.02.

For the black friday sales, go to http://www.blackfriday.info. You can find all the ads that have been released there, and even information on those stores having pre-blackfriday sales. It's already saved me quite a bit of money for the holiday season. Walmart had a pre-black friday sale last weekend.

DH has a Garmin C550 ( i think that is the number). My MIL, my parents and my sister all have the same one. It is so easy to use. It has a built in bluetooth, says the street names during the directions. I don't know if Garmin still makes it, but it works great. It does not have the traffic updates (it could but it cost extra each month and it is not worth it to us)

Thanks to all of you who posted answers to my question on the navigation system.:thumbsup2 I will continue to scan the black friday ads for a deal. It really is amazing how many web sites have the ads posted already. They are a little difficult to navigate themselves ;)

Just an extra FYI, I was checking the prices of our cruise today and both Cat 12GTY and cat 11 were available for booking. We were originally booked as Cat 10 (interior) I like to get us "on the boat" as cheap as possible, so I called , and DCL allowed me to "back down" to a cat 12 gty room. Saved almost $900!!! :cool1::cool1::cool1:Just in time for the holidays:santa::santa: The CM was extremely helpful and I was allowed to use the pin code that I originally booked under. Just wanted to let you know some savings may be available to you all. Good luck!!!

Another note that I should have mentioned earlier. Late dining is not the problem it once was. When our girls were small they literally fell asleep at the table before we could get through the meal. Now, if you choose, DCL will allow them time to eat in the dining rooms with the family then pick them up and take them to kids club. Servers will bring the kids food first. Then a Kids club castmember will come to each dining room each night to allow parents to check them into kids club without leaving the dining room. I LOVE THIS!! Kids get the good meal, but can still enjoy the children's programming. Parents get to enjoy the entire meal without tired whiney kids (I'm sure mine were the only ones to ever whine at the table)

Sooo...anyone have big weekend plans? Not too much here. Friends over tonight, nephew's 4th birthday party tomorrow night, then the mad rush to cook and clean for Thanksgiving at my house begins. I will probably have
about 25  for dinner. To make things just a little more hectic, I am in charge of the harvest festival in my daughter's third grade class on Tuesday. But I have to say - I love the holiday season!

Speaking of the holiday season - I am the queen of coupons/promo codes and I wanted to pass this one on. If you are making photo cards for the holiday, seehere.com (fuji film's photo website) is having a promotion for 50 free 4x8 photo cards. No shipping - totally free. You just make the cards then type in freebies4mom-1109 in the promo code section. I just did this yesterday - can't beat the price!!! The promo ends Nov. 30th. I hope it's ok to post this - I don't work for them or anything - I just get excited about free stuff. Told my whole bunco group about it last night...

Sooo...anyone have big weekend plans? Tonight, I'm taking donuts to a friends film shoot. I always get tagged for that since I work near the only gluten free bakery in the state which is an hour away from Seattle--you'd think it would be IN the city, but no, it's in the boonies. Other than that, just a couple of workouts and decorating for the holidays.

Does buying a new car today count? I know, what am I thinking??? :rolleyes1 We had planned on waiting till after we retuned from the cruise to buy the car but the dealer offered to make payments until Feb so we figured "Why not". I got a Kia Soul + and it is too cute. Now DD says she has to get her license. She is the only 15 year old I have ever known who was not in line on their birthday to get their permit. That will show me to get a car she thinks is cool.

Other than that it is just DD's weekend to volunteer at the zoo.

Cool, were getting two new cars when we move in April so I am excited about that. Don't worry the only reason I got my driver's license is because my permit was expiring, I really didn't care about driving either.

My weekend plans involve sleeping, watching tv, and going to go see blind side. Of course there is the normal chores :laundy: but thats about it.

I saw new moon last night, I thought it was really good, it was nice to see a book that was not my favorite of the series translated really well into a movie. Anyone else find the actor who plays Edward ugly, i don't know he just seems to overact all his scenes and is not really that good. Jacob overacted a little bit but I thought he was really good, is it bad that I think a 17 year old is a cuttie? He was way ripped.

There was also one surprise actress, Dakota Fanning, she was who I totally pictured as her character, she did an awesome job pulling off the scary kid like vampire.

I was so disappointed in Twilight that I'll wait for New Moon on DVD. I tend to always prefer the books anyway. I think Robert Pattinson was much better as Cedric in Harry Potter and his look in the movie flattered his features better also. As for admiring Jacob, I won't tell if you won't mention I almost flew to London to see Daniel Ratcliff in Equis, :rotfl2:

The kids know about the Disney World trip next year, but not about the cruise in January. Although some people in my family have slipped in front of them:rolleyes1, which goes right over DD7's head. Gotta love how oblivious they are at that age:lmao:. However, I think my DS14 more or less knows. He had a not so great report card and he's in high school. So, I sat him down and told him we are planning a trip (didn't tell him its a DCL cruise), and if he has any chance of going he'd better bring up his grades or they won't let me take him out of school for 3 days. But, that combined with the slips of some:rolleyes1, I suspect he's got a pretty good idea:idea:.

I think our kids are still unaware of our trip. Still counting on it being a Christmas "gift".
That's great that you now get a Disney (land) trip too. I'm sure that will make for some fabulous memories for everyone.
Last summer we had the "extended family" vacation to Disney world. DMiL, 2 DSiLs, DBiL, 3 nieces, and our family of 4. It was the first trip for the nieces and I was elected to plan it all. I absolutely stressed myself out, because I wanted everyone to love Disney World as much as I do. Ultimately I figured out that each family needed to go where they wanted, when they wanted. It is just hard to move that many people at one time. :confused3 If anything when you have a group of kiddos you learn to go with the flow:hippie:
There were some "tense" moments, but everyone is glad we went. The kids still talk about everything we did while we were there. The memories of that trip will stay with out kids for life and that is really what matters. Have fun with the planning, but don't stress like me:rolleyes1

I just noticed this today. Sorry, I didn't get back to you sooner. We booked Bernards Tours in St Martin. www.bernardstours.com We used him last year and many in our group thought it was the best part of the entire trip. It was $35pp and that included: a stop for souvies, a stop to look at and hold sea urchins, about 1 1/2-2 hours at the beach to swim, then to Maho beach (the beach at the airport), he times it so you can see the planes take off/land if at all possible, then another quick unexpected stop for a new camera (mine had an unfortunate run in with a wave):sad2:, then back to the ship (there is still plenty of time to shop their also at the shops on the pier). And his van was fully stocked with beer, water, juice, soda, and rum punch (all free of charge). Of course the $35pp is w/o the tip. We tipped about $50 (2 families of 4 : $25 each family) So totally worth it!:thumbsup2. And in light of everything that has gone on at the other ports (robberies), I have to say that at no time did we feel one bit unsafe. His tours have a great reputation.

Joe and I have also booked with Bernard looking forward to it.

In St. Thomas we are booked with a private sail to St. John which includes lunch and snacks if anyone is interested in joining us please pm me right now it is just the two of us and he really needs 6 people to go on the trip to cover his expenses. It is called rumbaba charters and I found their info over on "cruise critic".

I had just messaged Bunless about that. We need to decide on a cut off. I think 1 month is fair. What do you think?

We arrive at port as soon as we are able (determined by our shuttle time). When you check in at the port you will be assigned a boarding pass with a number. Disney boards everyone with boarding pass #1 first then #2 etc. You will not have access to your room right away, but you will be able to board early. More experienced DCL cruisers help me out here...I'm thinking we've been on board as early as 11:30 am, but I just don't really recall.:confused3

It sounds like the 3 o'clocks have it!
Now for where to meet...

We're flying in the night before and will be staying on points at a non-view (cheaper) room at Animal Kingdom. Then we'll take the Disney shuttle from WDW, it's just the two of us, so the price is sort of a wash compared to car rental--and we don't need to change seatings or get reservations for anything. It also seems an easy way to do it--do they play a video on the cruise shuttle like they do from the airport to WDW?

We were going to stay at AKL but now we are renting a car when we get there on Friday AM and staying at the Inn at Cocoa Beach We usually get to the port around 10-10:30 if we want to upgrade which I think we may try for this time We will drop the car off at Budget and take their shuttle over to the port

I am not sure if we are staying in Orlando or closer to the port - I am working on getting free tickets to Kennedy Space Center so if I get those - that will make the decision easy!

My husband travels a lot so we will be staying at a Marriott in either location.

We also have a rental car and I think we will be getting to the port early because I may try for an upgrade (unless I get touched with some pixie dust beforehand:wizard:)

What time is everyone planing on getting to the ship?

That depends on if I work the night before and if I'm done packing. Sure, living 30 min from the port sounds nice but that just means you can put everything off until the last moment. :rolleyes1 I am really going to try not to have to work Friday night, though. (12 hour night shift at the hospital) We plan to arrive around noon. That seems to work well. With the airport and resorts able to check people in now, I do not feel the need to beat the busses. I don't know how things are now, but at the begining of the year we were getting very few early boarding cards for port check-ins. Our numbers basicly were starting at group 4.

More experienced DCL cruisers help me out here...I'm thinking we've been on board as early as 11:30 am, but I just don't really recall.

Here is the inside scoop ;) ;) Check in starts about 10 - 10:30 am (Most CMs are eating lunch from 10 - 10:30). They try really hard to start boarding at 11:45 am and 95% of the time there is no problem. However, sometimes things do run late. Think about it - the last of 2,700 people leave the ship at 10 am and an hour fourty-five min later they start letting 2,700 people back on the ship. I still find the logistics of it amaizing.

On St. Marteen, we're doing Bernard's, but doing a private tour for just the two of us. We'd like to see the island, but not that into shopping or going to the beach (of course, that might change since I realized there are European beaches there...which I love!).

For the question about a changed itinerary, in my email from Bernard he said that if the ship doesn't come, we don't pay.

FE's are just a way to spread magic among friends. Think of it like a secret santa (or not secret if you prefer). Everyone who wants to participate just needs to let Shellcruiser know by 12/15. We then give small gifts of your choice to our fellow cruisers during the trip. People do lots of different things such as candy, things from the region they are from or crafty people do homemade things. It is the thought, not the gift that counts. It is very fun to come back to your stateroom and find a little surprise waiting. We call it a fish extender exchange because by your stateroom door is a small fish that CMs use to leave "mail" and we put some kind of hanger on it for people to place gifts in. Again, people get as crafty as they want with this. I've seen everything from canvas bags and decorated shoe hangers to very personalized creative works. There are even people on ebay that sell them.

I'm getting my gifts together now, so throw your name in the hat, I've got plenty to go around. :goodvibes

I'm doing Bernard's too! Sounds like we'll have a great group!

I don't know how to do the quote thing - so for those of you wondering how to get free tickets to the Kennedy Space Center - just email your local congressperson - they have the ability to get a certain amount of free tickets for their constituents. I have gotten a few emails from my congresswoman's office and they are waiting for the January tickets - so keep your fingers crossed for me!

I'm just not sure what we are doing on St Thomas. I really would love to go to St. John, but I am still deciding.

Bernards is awesome! We did it last year & are doing it again. Last year we were a group of 8 & paid the regular price, but ended up w/ a "private" van tour for just the 8 of us. We had John for our driver. He was awesome! I'm hoping we get him again. I missed out on St John last year because we planned on doing it on our own but got nervous about taking off to another island on our own. And we got off the ship a little later than planned so we headed over to Sapphire beach. I am NOT missing St John again. From what I hear it really is an amazingly beautiful island. So we're going against our "no expensive ship excursion" rule & doing the St John snorkel.

AimeeJ did a great job explaining the exchange. I'm copying some of what Sarah and Janice compiled from one of my past cruises. You can find several links/ threads with people showing off their homemade fish extenders and homemade gifts. I would tell you what I have given in the past, but who knows, I may just do it again...so I'm keeping my little secret;)
If you want to know what I'm making you need to sign up.:rotfl: For those who are thinking there's not enough time to make gifts... don't worry... some folks give candy, pencils, pens, etc. (even had one friend who left shooters for the adults:rolleyes1) Dollar Tree and Oriental trading can be your friend:lmao: It's just fun to come back to your cabin and find a little extra magic waiting for you.

Fish Extender Examples: Remember.....no more than EIGHT INCHES WIDE!

You would bring enough gifts for each person or cabin who signs up. Some folks make big gifts (like scrapbook pages, mini-albums, etc) which they would leave 1 per cabin. Some folks give candies, tatoos, pencils, goodie bags, etc. specifically for each person.
As FE coordinator I will send you a list of everyone who is participating and their room numbers. I will include the gender and ages of children participating so everyone can plan appropriately. It is up to each participant to distribute the goodies that they brought for the other participants. There is no set time to pass items out. In the past I have split my list and delivered to 2 or 3 cabins each day until I am finished. I do NOT try to go to all cabins at once.
If by some chance we get lots more participants in the next week, we could divide into 2 separate FE groups so as not to overwhelm anyone.

I've been watching the cat 12 gty forum too. When I saw the upgrades posted for williamson JA and ljcrochet, I went to the DCL site. We have been placed in a cat 9:cool1::cloud9::cool1: We are on the first deck so I guess we will have the small portholes, but that's a-o-k with me. It's nice to have the larger room. At least on the lower level we may have easy disembarkations on the islands.

I will see you on Deck 1. I had check for a cabin assigment on Friday, it was not there. Then I saw that williamson JA, had a cabin on saturday. Check again and saw mine. I think this is the lowest deck I have ever been on, and the first time cruising with a port hole (or 2 little portholes). I am so glad that i'm next door to my MIL's cabin, since my DD's have told us that they plan on sleeping in her cabin all cruise. Not sure what will happen, but at least we are next door. Last time we cruised with MIL, we had inside cabins that shared the inside wall, so she was directly behind us.

 I love you guys! I just checked our stateroom assignments last week and had resigned myself to have to wait a couple of more weeks but after reading your posts I saw we have ours too. :cool1: We got an upgrade from Cat 6 to Cat 5 # 7098. I love the location. I feel sprinkled with pixie dust. :wizard:

For those who are on Deck 1, we stayed in 1060 once and really enjoyed it. There is very little traffic on that Deck. Just becareful because you can't get to the room from the aft stairs/elevators and after having a couple of those drinks of the day it can be difficult to remember why you can't get to the room. :lmao: Not that we know that from experience. :rolleyes1

BTW - no small print problems here.

Your family was one of the ones I was worried about, I know my parents are starting to have 'small print' problems. It's good to know that (is it your or your DHs?) isn't!

Yes, me too! I wish some more people would sign up so I have an excuse to make more.:flower3: It is my dad who is the Disney nut. Funny enough, for years he could not understand why I visited WDW every year. Then I moved to Florida and draged him to the Animal Kingdom and he has been hooked ever since. :rotfl:

Our Christmas is going to be celebrated on Dec 19th when our oldest daughter gets married We still have sooo much to do and so little time left!!

I remember how crazy things got right before my wedding day, but then we had an unexpected guest - Hurricaine Willma! :scared1: Somehow things all seem to come together in the end.

I am writing to all of you from the future. It is currently 740 am on monday I think the 7th not to sure:. I just got off shift so when I saw 7:40 i THOUGHT IT WAS pm not am. I was confused. Now I am going. Just farting around on the internet then going to rack out in my bunk.

I wish that I could go to Tokyo Disney while I am here but it looks like I will not get a day off, and the fact that I am no where near Tokyo.

I think I understand, but then I got use to crazy time changes when my brother was overseas. :thumbsup2 Hawaii is a heck of a lot closer to Tokyo than Florida, I know I would want to sneak a trip in if I could. ;)

I have to make four at a time, so I'll have extras anyway... maybe I'll bring the extras and just offer them to anyone who wants. Honestly, we're doing the FE more because we like the idea of sneaking around and gifting, not because we want the gifts ourselves--well, maybe DH does. I'm the one who sneaks around to wrap christmas gifts months ahead of time, but when asked if I want anything myself, I can never think of anything.

I went to AC Moore last night and bought our family supply of "Dis-green" t-shirts.:thumbsup2 Think I will try to make them this week while kiddos are at school. Do we have a "themed picture" to use? I found some iron on letters with skull/crossbones on them.-plan to use them to put our names on the back of the tees. Does that sound too middle school???:lmao:

:lmao: There would be NO WAY in %#$* DH would do a matching shirt thing either. I was shocked when he put the pirate hat, eye patch, and hoop earring on for Pirate Night on our last cruise! Of course, that was after a day of drinking it up on St. Martin!:lmao: If I can get a few in him:drinking1 before we leave for port...............maybe:thumbsup2. Almost down to a month to go:goodvibes. Unfortunately my goal of hitting the gym hardcore until that time has been interupted by Xmas parties, shopping, wrapping gifts, basketball practices (& a trip to the ER after a basketball injury to DS-:headache: 7 stitches). I can't say I planned to hit the gym hardcore (my core hasn't even been firm much less hard since DD-11 came into being ) but I have started running again. I have this crazy idea that I want to run the Castaway Cay 5K. So this week I went back to the gym:rolleyes1 I find 1 mile is my current ability... so if I add 1/10 mile each day:teacher: ... Just an update... So, my dh found out about his surprise birthday trip. I've found that having 4 kids in the house is NOT good for keeping secrets. At any rate, he is thrilled to be going on our first cruise and is helping me pick some great excursions.

We have been a quiet bunch as of late. Must be the holiday season catching up with everyone. :santa:

I know that most of you are knee deep in snow and cold weather but it was a balmy 80 F here by the port today (at least a 30 min drive from the port). If it wasn't night, I would be thinking of turning the AC on. :hippie: I'm doing my best to keep the weather nice for y'all.

Finished up my door magnets and FE gifts today. I guess I really need to think about packing next.

The only good thing I can say about my diet is I'm not gaining.

Sorry he found out but keeping the kids quiet this long had to be an accomplishment. You can still suprise him with something special on the ship.

His name is Louis, the only reason I know that was because we saw the Princess and the Frog section filmed at Disneyland for the Christmas Parade. I got to hear the Louis shout outs many, many, many times.

I know several people were interested in doing this but we had already taken the remaining 4 places. Well, best laid plans and all that. My husband took a headfirst dive down some concrete steps and broke his wrist. We will said anyhow but he certainly won't be able to navigate a sailboat. So we just cancelled 4 places on that tour, if anyone wants to grab it.
