Hi everyone,

We've booked to stay at the Sequoia Lodge 9th-11th Nov and have booked to stay in a 'normal' (rather than Montana) room. I just wondered whether anyone has stayed there in either type of room, and has any opinion as to whether the upgrade is worth it (I'm assuming that we could upgrade when we arrive if we change our minds??) I look forward to your thoughts!!

Hi:goodvibes
We stayed in a Montana room last year, I can't really compare as we have not stayed in a normal room but I think staying in the main building is a real plus. Being able to nip down to the shop or going to breakfast without going outside is the main advantage to me, especially in colder weather! The addition of the minibar is hit and miss, it is too expensive! But it may be of some value to some people.

We are staying in a Montana room again this year, and can't wait! However having said all that about not having to go outside, we are staying at the Cheyenne as well as we love the theming; so we are stuck going outside to use the hotel amenities there anyway! We prefer the Cheyenne to the Newport! Tied with the Seqouia Ithink though.

Have you looked into Lakeview rooms? We loved it, it was really nice having the view.
Either way it is a great hotel, but if you want to get back to the hotel and not have to go outside again, and be closer to your room (we were 2 minutes walk to reception) then upgrading is a serious consideration. Sorry if this post seems to say not a great deal in a longwinded way! I am using my phone so editing is a pain!

Have stayed in both.
We were in Yellowstone Lodge which is literally 2 minutes walk mostly under cover from the main hotel reception.
From our rooms to breakfast room it was probably about the same walking distance as our Montana room was which was on the first floor of the hotel.
At the end of the day our lodge room was considerably closer when walking back to the hotel than the hotel entrance was and if I were booking a SL lodge again I would probably request the same building.
I can't say that I noticed any other differences, there may have been a hairdrier in the Monatan rooms, not sure.
Our Montana rooms were a free upgrade, if the hotels not busy you may very well get one too.
Enjoy your stay. :)

Have stayed in both also,

We were in Sierra Lodge in the summer, and did not notice the walk to breakfast, we went straight on to the park from there, so we were not walking back and forth.

Enjoy :)
