Just got back from the family's first visit to WDW (8 days) and Cocoa Beach (5 days..we saw NASA, swam in the WARM Atlantic Ocean, went on a Manatees cruise & an airboat ride). I have been on these boards for over a year reading and posting. We got an illumnitations cruise following the directions on this board (waking up at 4 AM California time to make reservation!) and it was GREAT! We stayed at BWV (again, based on recommendations here since we had older teenagers) and it worked out wonderful! Our 20yrdd and 17 yrds had a wonderful time! Staying on property is the only way to go.
We used preferred points for a BW view. Unfortunately, didn't get it. We ended up on the 2nd floor overlooking the pool...while this is not necessarily a bad thing, we found that it was too close to the pool. I think even if you have to walk to a standard view, the quiet of looking out at the parking lot would be worth the savings in points.
Anyway, once again to everyone on this board, thank you for helping me put together a GREAT family vacation.
Wish we had DVC on the West Coast to use our points!
