Donna and I will be headed to your area this summer. Should be after the 4th of July. We could use some advice on where to stay. We would love to have a meet while there. We will have our daughters with us. Hope to see you there.

I am looking into doing the Rock N Roll Chicago Half Marathon next year so if you happen to be there the weekend of 8/1/10 I may just join you all for a meet.

I am so excited! I will have to pick my vacation in just over a week - when my co-worker returns from WDW! :lmao:
I will need to sort out some dates soon. DH has to make it into a business trip to come with us. If he can't come I will break the drive up into 2 days...likely stay near Windsor :rolleyes1
I will keep my eyes out for hitchhikers with tiara's and LGMH visible!

Yes! I'm always up for a Chicago area DIS meet!
Unfortunately, I don't have any idea where you should stay. Maybe one of those trip advisor sites could help.

Count Jason and I in too!! Gosh, we miss all of you!!
Where you should stay all depends on what you want to do! You say you are coming right after the 4th of July? If you come on July 5th you could make it for the last day of Taste of Chicago :).

Dear Becky,
I am visiting Chicago around New Year's Eve for a family wedding.
Very excited
I will share my research here.
It would be great to get the local oppinion.
We are staying in Rockland, IL
because that's where the wedding & reception are being held.
I am looking into CityPass and family friendly actitivies. DH wants to see the Willis Tower (formerly the Sears Tower). Trip advisor has me scared :scared1:
Did you know the Lincoln Park Zoo is free!?

Today I am researching Navy Pier. It looks very cool!

We'd love to meet up with you in July, it's a great time to be here!
I know of other DIS'ers who want to go to Taste of Chicago as well, so getting here a day or two before the 4th (the huge Chicago firework display is always July 3rd, btw) or the day after is highly recommended.
As far as places to stay... not sure but I'll do a bit of research too!
We love love love Chicago and know it very well, I hope we can find time to do a couple things together :)
Is it obvious I love showing off my city?
Might not have gotten the games, but we're still second to none.
Oh, and please don't call it Willis Tower  ;)

I've only been to Chicago twice. Both for DIS meets at Doorway to Dreams. I'd love to take in more of the Chicago than just Woodfield Mall!:rotfl: (Jaime did a great job of showing off the better Berwyn area.:goodvibes:thumbsup2)

I'm never a tourist in my own city, and that's a shame!
I've also never done the Taste of Chicago. The crowds usually keep me from attending. I'd need some convincing to go next year.

I LOVE Chicago! My Mom and Stepdad lived up there for 4 years in Palatine. I would spend summers up there. We used to go to Long Grove and Lou Malnati's. I have been to the Museums and Shedd's. I loved Navy Pier and the SEARS tower. I also really liked Gurnee Mills but have not been there in a really long time.

You really need to see more than just Woodfield (and Berwyn, haven't been to that suburb yet)! Hopefully we can change that sooner rather than later :)

That's what I like to hear!

Crowds can be bad, but if you go there right when it starts (11am) it's really manageable up until about 12:30-1pm... but by then you've already made the rounds a couple times.
It'd be fun going down there with friends :) (it's usually just us, or us and my mom)
Edit: My mom lives in Palatine too, Becky; and we love Long Grove, we were there just two weekends ago!

DD is in school right up to June 29. Yep, last day is a MONDAY. UGH.
Don't know if we can do anything that early as I have been known to have my last dance commitments for the summer in the first week of July.
Time will tell.
My day is blah so I think I will go do some research... figure out where DH's office is in case he can come. :goodvibes

YES! I agree! Whenever you have more time we need to take you out on the town!!

And don't forget to buy your Taste of Chicago tickets before hand at Dominick's this saves you 1.50 per strip of 11 tickets. This really adds up! Especially if you are Jason's mom, I think she bought close to 30 strips last year! We had a lot to eat! popcorn::
Depending on where/when, DH and I may even come play! He's been wanting to do a Chicago trip for awhile now...:thumbsup2
OOOOOOhhhh!!! YAY!!! Come play with us, anytime, anywhere! We miss you!
