It all began many moons ago....

Doesn't that sound better than, I'm not quite sure when or how it happened?

Ok, so many moons ago...I guess it was 3 moons...oh wait...how many moons are in a year?? I don't remember learning that one...hmmm....so if theres 12 moons in a year 12X3 =36?

Ok, I think I've got it now.....Many moons ago, 36 to be precise , I took my family on our first trip to WDW. during the plane ride to Florida, I broke my tooth on a cracker that must have been made during the stone age, and recently recovered and passed off as food.

I spent my first 3 days at WDW in severe pain which resulted in my first taxi ride ever (scared the crap out of me) to an angel of a dentist who put me on antibiotics and pain meds.

I then spent the remainder of the trip in a wheelchair because the meds made me very loopy and slightly dizzy. I have a very low tollerance for pain meds so I was on my own little high.

If you're wondering why I needed to explain all of that, I give you exibit A..

http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q240/winkers_photos/100_3145-1.jpg

yep, that's me, high on disneyworld and pain meds.

I even tried to do the same pose the next year, but it's missing that crazy eyed look..

A few months after that trip I started following Jordan's (jordanyosh....if you haven't checked him out you should!!....as soon as you're done here) pre trip report.

I had recently been to my sister's wedding where we made a huge flat of my brother who was in Chile and unable to be there....

http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q240/winkers_photos/dani1.jpg

We had a ton of fun poseing with him...including taking him through the carl's jr. drive through.

Somewhere along the way in Jordan's pre tr, I said he should take me with him on his trip and it eventually evolved into me sending him a flat winkers.

Little did I know what a flat craze would spawn from that! it was hysterical, to see all the things Jordan managed to do with flat winky....I believe I was near a gorilla butt and a toilet within the same day.

It was only natural that he send me a flat jordan for my next trip. My kids thought it was the best thing ever. They fought over who's turn it was to pose with fj. He added hours of fun to our vacation.

http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q240/winkers_photos/100_4484.jpg

Looks like Flat Jordy knew something was rotten in Denmark....

http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q240/winkers_photos/100_4435.jpg

After that trip FJ became a rockstar in my family! He's bigger than the Jonas Brothers and Hannah Montana combined!!

Now it's a few moons later and for the first time ever...the flats are meeting in 4D!!!

This meeting of the flats could cause the giant golf ball to fall off it's axis and go rolling into mission space....WHEN WORLDS COLLIDE!

up next....the who, what, when , why and how.

Moses Lake....I swore I'd never live here for more than a year or 2....that was 15 years ago.

I miss mountains and green....it's just flat and brown here.

Sadly, I can affirm that is true having driven through there many a time. My poor sisters car broke down outside of there on the way to Couer D'Alene last summer. She tried to get them to tow it to Ellensburg but it was outside her mileage limit so Moses Lake it was.

As a result I had lunch at the DQ there in July on a surprise road trip. Since her car was out of commission she still had to get back to CDA to pick up my nephew from camp and a road trip to the 'Kan was born. It was as good a lunch stop as any.

Man it's not there!

And well, in the middle of no where.

You do have potholes, the gorge and the dunes nearby so that's something. It always amazes me how it's like being in a different country weather wise the minute you start to cross the mountains. We have a cabin (aka shack, on the river, outhouse and all) in North Bend and even the weather difference from that to home (Lake Forest Park) is a bit mind boggling at times.

potholes...yuck, you couldn't pay me to swim in that water
gorge....never actually been to a concert there, but we get all the drunks afterwards.]
dunes...it's just a bunch of sand

Whenever someone asks where I'm from and I say Washington, oh and then they always sady D.C.?, then I say no the state....and then they tell me how green and pretty it is there...then I have to say yes it is, except for about a 100 mile radius that is brown and ugly.

Well...I've never been to Potholes and am too old to go to the Gorge (never did either ) but I have had a lot of fun at those Dunes.

Of course, it was college. A bunch of sand was highly entertaining.

Well you don't get our soggy muddy days so that's a silver lining, right? You are actually closer to Spokane....do you go there much?

It's so funny, I had such a negative image of it based on no good reason other than people from Seattle pick on Spokane, and I had a good friend from there who picked on it herself. We spent the night there on our surprise road trip, my kids had SO much fun in the afternoon/evening we were there they think Spokane is a really cool town.

The details...

They say "the devil's in the details"....I'm not sure what that means...glenn?....

To me it means I will become obsessed with the details and end up with 50 different itenerary versions.

This year the details will be a little simpilar because it's just dh and I.

In 2006 D.Jay and I made our first trip to WDW. It was going to be a one time deal. We live in Washington so it's a long trip. Well, after about 2 hours of being there we knew we had to take our kids.

2007 came and we surprised our kids with a trip. Again, it was going to be a one time thing....I ended up needing a dentist and pain pills, which messed up our vacation.

2008...and we had to have a re-do! I was really sad when that ended because I knew it sould be at least 3 years before we could return.

2009....we took the kids and mother in law....are you seeing a pattern here?

After that trip I KNEW we wouldn't be able to afford going for at least another year because of remodeling our house.
Then disney released the buy4 get 3 deal.....which means I'm saving money by going!

Which brings us to our next vacation....

Feb 3-10th just D.Jay and I .

We're staying at CBR, which I'm really excited about.

This trip should be more relaxing because we know what we really want to see and do. Plus without kids or the mother in law....it should be free of drama!

my kids cleaning is pretty rare!
When my mom comes to visit, I always go into the cleaning freak mode. I grew up in a spotless house that could have been in better homes and gardens. So when my Mom comes I try to pretend like my house is just as spotless....it's not a mess, but there are nights I don't get to the dishes...She would have to be on death's doorstep to leave dishes untill the morning.

anyhoo....several years ago, my Mom was here on a visit when Bailie pipped up with "Grandma, whenever you visit we have to clean the house". She made it sound like it was a pig sty the rest of the year.

On previous trips, I've planned and planned and planned somemore. Studied the hours of each park and agonized over where to eat and getting up at 3a.m. to make the adr's.

I guess I'm slipping....or becoming a little more normal...depending on who you ask.

I have 3 months till the trip and I'm only on my 1st draft of the itenerary.
I've decided that this trip will be drama free and full of relaxing. That should be interesting because we've never taken a relaxing vacation.

But this time feels different. Since it's just the 2 of us and we've been several times before, I don't feel the need to cram as much into the time as possible.
We know what are our must do's are and what we don't need to worry about.

This trip, I'm not focused on every ropedrop......we'll see how well that goes.;)

So here's the first draft....I'm sure it will change a few if not many times...I'm still waiting for the hours to be released.:headache:

Feb 4th..DHS
dinner @ Raglan Road with Rosie!

Feb 5th..Animal Kingdom
Dinner Chef Defrance....I just hope I don't have to pronounce it correctly to be seated..

Feb 6th..free morning
Dinner @ Kona
Dis meet at MK in the evening

Feb 7th..Epcot F.W.

dinner Tuotto Italia
free evening

Feb 8th..Free morning
World showcase in evening
dinner @ Kouzzina with Jordan and Rosie

Feb 9th..MK morning
dinner @ Tony's

It's still pretty basic but I'm sure that will change with time and my ocd-ness.

Of all the parks DHS is my least favorite. I'm not sure what it is but it just doesn't have the same feel as the others.
I never feel relaxed here because I'm always running from one end to the other and trying to co-ordinate with the show schedules.

That being said....it is still Disney.

We've never spent more than a day here and we usually leave around 5.
This time there are even fewer things we want to do, so it'll only be a half day.

On our first trip, we had the crappiest flights EVER and ended up with 3 plane changes and a delay in Charlotte NC because of lightening storms in Orlando. It was sometime after midnight by the time we got into MCO and after 2 by the time we got to bed.
but we had a schedule to keep!
So, with about 2 hours of sleep we were at DHS for ropedrop. It was pouring all day, but we were so excited to be there that it didn't matter.

I'm looking forward to sleeping in our first day and missing the cattle drive Disney calls rope drop.

Here's what we plan to do...

TOT....which d.jay will claim he has to go potty just as we get in line, and then I'll tell him too bad. He can go after.

RRC....repeat previous scenario

TSM...by now he can't possibly have any more pee in him.;)

We really enjoyed DHS (then MGM) on our first visit. For some reason it felt a little different but maybe (and likely) it was just that it wasn't insanely crowded. We struggle with it this time due to the crowds and the flow (of which it really has none). But there are a lot of really great things to do and see....I just need to figure out a way to make it flow better for us. I like your list, hopefully the FP gods and wait times will make it possible to do all of that in a half day. Too funny about needing to pee....

Do you have better flights this time? We had crappy ones last trip as well and it stole 2 full days from my trip.

I'll be silently cursing you all 3 hours of church while that stupid song is on continuous replay.:headache:

Gaaaaahhhhhh!!!

Life in the winkers home is insane right now! We have contractors working all day. the old shingles on our house have been stripped.....today they are replacing all of the windows, which means I had to have everything 2 feet away from all of the windows.
thank heavens mother nature decided to co-operate with us...it's a sunn 55 here today. but inside is freezing cold from all the windows being torn out and the front door always open.

I can't wait to see the transformation. We've lived here for 10 years and the house still has most of the original stuff from the 50's. Including my fancy metal cabinets which I will happily take a sledge hammer to in about a month.:thumbsup2

We also have 2 schizophrenic daucshunds who bark like crazy anytime the air moves. They're pinned in the kitchen so they aren't under foot and it's driving them nuts.

On top of all that....I'm sick. I'm slightly feverish with crud in my lungs and the shakes from guzzling redebull....which I thought is supposed to give you wings.

So, that's where I've been lately. I'm taking a little sanity break now to drink another redbull and contemplate the mess my house is right now.

Oh, and I'm also thinking about adding an extra day to our trip.....I guess I better talk to D.Jay about that.

Oh wow!! I don't envy the noise and chaos you are going through right now at all. I'm SOOOOO glad we are finally finished with our remodel. You need to take before and after pictures so we can see!! popcorn::

You also need to trash the red bull and grab some water!! You don't need to get sick and have something lingering till February! Remember, no one is allowed to get sick this trip!! I absolutely REFUSE!!!

All I have to say is that I'm over-the-top happy for you that your schizoid daschsunds don't have diarrhea anymore- or do they??!! Cuz, that might call for yet another redbull and a Prozac to wash it down with... Just sayin'...

Cool!! Adding another day. Not to enable or anything, but I added 3. I might add they are solo (so far). Is POP calling your name? You could tell d.jay it'd only be like $40 a night... :rolleyes1

I didn't get any recent "before" of the outside of the house, but I'll take one today of half way and then one after.
I'm so frustrated right now because I can't get anything done, and it's worse with the kids all home today.
I very rarely drink red bull, but with this cold I just want to lay down and sleep, which is impossible with construction going on...they started at 7 this morning.

Hello Winkers!

The problem with DHS is that it is not Universal. :lmao: Once you've been to Universal Studios the jig is up. If it wasn't for 50's PTC, Tot, and RnRC, I wouldn't go either. But as you said, it is still Disney. OK, and it does look awesome at night.

Wow, you are updating the whole house!?? Poor puppies. :rotfl2: We put our little boogers in the basement while our windows were being replaced. They still barked. Then they lost their ever-lovin' minds trying to sniff out the culprets when we let them back upstairs.

I hope you feel better soon.

I haven't traveled to the dark side .....universal. I think we'll go after the Harry Potter thing is done.

My dogs don't mind our contractors because they are neighboors that they know. Sophie went out of her mind because the couch was pulled away from the window so she couldn't see what was going on out there. she whined untill it got put back.

Nor I with de-pukified walls. It wasn't actually that, but sure looked like it. You know, that disguesting place behind where you put your trash can? Painted up that wall, and it's looking might purty! Moved the trash can too. Now if someone really does need to puke, they'll likely miss, cuz now they will have to open the cupboard under the sink, pull out the trashcan, etc....
Yeah, it's a regular love fest! And it's a wall.

I've read your previous TRs and laughed hysterically. Not at the amount of pain you had to endure, of course, but the fun your family had. They remind me a lot of my family and the craziness that ensues when everyone gets together, especially for a Disney World trip.

Anyways, I was excited when I saw tonight that you were planning another trip, and looking forward to reading about it. Then saw you'll be down there the same times my friends and I will (except we're leaving on the 9th). So exciting!! 70 days and counting!! Then I noticed that there is like a whole group of you meeting, most of whom I've read TRs from. So I guess what I'm really saying is that I would like to warn you and apologize now if some crazy red head starts screaming and running towards any of you wanting autographs. :rolleyes1 I really am a nice person, just slightly insane all of the time. :goodvibes

I'm alive! things are really crazy here with the remodeling. My house is a total disaster and it's driving me nuts.

I told everyone this year thanksgiving will be at McDonald's, because half of my kitchen is tore up and the other half has stuff stacked on it. Today I'm hiding in my room for awhile so I can pretend everything is clean and calm.

The only thing keeping me sane is thinking about our trip!

:lmao: I had one table that held a loaf of bread, my microwave, toaster, cereal boxes, and paper plates, cups & utensils. We ate take out.....A LOT!

Kinda figured that's what was going on.

the trip will be here soon enough.

YES IT WILL!! EYE ON THE PRIZE CHERIE!! Or in your case, 2 PRIZES!! A trip AND a new kitchen. :thumbsup2 Not bad.

Another lurker coming out of lurkdom. Lurketude? Lurktation? Whatever.

:goodvibes

:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

You should join us for one of the dis meets! My brain is to frazzled from the pounding and nailguns right now, to tell you exactly when it is. Our contractors like to get an EARLY start.:headache:

We may just try. That is if I don't tell them what we're doing. They have already given me full power to plan as I wanted. Bad move on their part!

!
sounds like my set-up. we're about to only having the beds to sit on because everything else is slowly being covered up.
I had to stay in my room most of the day because it drives me crazy to look at the mess and not be able to do anything about it.

How long is it healthy to be hidding in your room to avoid looking at a mess you can't do anything about?

At this point, I'm afraid it's going to end with me on the Oprah show in the middle of an intervention.

They'll find me either in a cornor twitching or hugging my new fridge, which is the only organized space in this house right now.

What's scary, is it's going to get worse. It'll be all sorts of crazy when they take out the staircase and flip it, so it's going the other direction.

Luckily, none of my family are huge lovers of turkey...so they're all ok with no big dinner tomorrow. Ok, so I bribbed them with junk food, but they're all happy and I just might be able to retain what little bit of my sanity is left.

I have a too do list a mile long, but when there's clutter around me I don't work well.

hmmm, maybe I need the Oprah intervention after all.

I couldn't do it. The control freak in me would break down and they'd have to lock me up. Jeff and I really should have remodeled my house when we got married. But the prospect of doing so with 2 full time jobs and 4 kids was just more than we could take. Building is a whole lot easier if you aren't living in the house yet!

You are a stronger woman than I!

My friends and I arrive the evening of Feb 3rd and leaving the evening of 9th. I started a PTR like 4 months ago, and it got abandoned. Waaaaaayyyyyyyy too early to keep my attention. May pick it back up, but probably won't have much time for it with my work schedule. There do seem to be more and more people going this Feb... Hopefully that doesn't mean crazy crowds at the parks.

In my effort to maintain sanity, I decided to go shopping.

Note to self....avoid walmart the day before thanksgiving.

I made a stop at the dollar store, one of my favorite places to shop. While I was in there I made the mistake of reaching for something, and SNAP...by bra strap broke.

Of course, I had on a t-shirt and no coat or jacket. I had a basket full of goodies that I didn't want to part with, so I quickly headed for the checkout. With every step, I could feel gravity taking hold and making me look a little lop-sidded.

I was able to make it to my car before my compass' were pointing in completly different directions. I looked around and then quickly tried to adjust things.

I was never "indecent" but there was a little scooping and swooshing going on. I got things back to normal and then reached to turn on the ignition.

As my eyes moved to the rear view mirror they were stopped by a slight movement from the car across from me.

There with a look close to this.... was a teenage boy sitting and looking at me in horror.

Our thanksgiving feast consisted of bbq sandwiches, chips and all sorts of snack foods. I think it was the best ever. We snacked and watched UP, which made me cry harder than the first time I saw it.

This has been the most relaxing thanksgiving ever. Normally, I'm stressed all morning and then spend the rest of the day cleaning up after the meal.

Our usual tradition is to go around the table and everyone say at least one thing they're thankful for, this year I put everyone's name on a piece of paper and then passed them around for everyone to write something they were thankful for about that person.

I couldn't believe the heart felt thoughts my kids put down for eachother. It's easy to forget what awesome kids I have, when they're fighting and annoying eachother.
Watching each of their faces as we read the papers out loud was priceless. So for christmas, I'm going to frame the papers and hang them in their rooms.

It made me realize how much I take the people in my life for granted and don't express how I feel often enough.

So, to all my dis friends....thank you! You have all touched my life in more ways than I would have thought possible when I first joined. You are like my personal cheering section and therapist all rolled into one!

Around 8:30 I was done with my shopping. I was at about 28 hours with no sleep. I went home, threatened my family with a slow painful death if they woke me up, and went to bed.

I am not leaving MK after I arrive at 1pm. I may run out to greet Wendy and Derek when they get to the resort at around 6pm...other than that, I'm game for just about anything.

Maybe we should start a group therapy session-

Wanted: Counselor for Pole Dancer Wannabe's, Distraught-over-no-end-of-trip-tradition DISsers, and those who've been assaulted by Pluto. Must have large sense of humor, and a big heart. Salary low, (they have no money left- it's all gone to the Mouse) benefits: Free advice on binder making. Risk: Quite large; people will wonder after some time, "What happened to you?".

My aunt sent this to me and I had to share! It took me at least 30 minutes to stop laughing after I read it.

ONLY A MAN WOULD ATTEMPT THIS

Just try reading this without laughing till you cry!!!

Pocket Tazer Stun Gun, a great gift for the wife. A guy who purchased his lovely wife a pocket Tazer for their anniversary submitted this:

Last weekend I saw something at Larry's Pistol & Pawn Shop that sparked my interest. The occasion was our 15th anniversary and I was looking for a little something extra for my wife Julie. What I came across was a 100,000-volt, pocket/purse- sized tazer. The effects of the tazer were supposed to be short lived, with no long-term adverse affect on your assailant, allowing her adequate time to retreat to safety....??

WAY TOO COOL!

Long story short, I bought the device and brought it home.. I loaded two AAA batteries in the darn thing and pushed the button. Nothing! I was disappointed. I learned, however, that if I pushed the button and pressed it against a metal surface at the same time; I'd get the blue arc of electricity darting back and forth between the prongs.

AWESOME!!!

Unfortunately, I have yet to explain to Julie what that burn spot is on the face of her microwave.

Okay, so I was home alone with this new toy, thinking to myself that it couldn't be all that bad with only two triple-A batteries, right? There I sat in my recliner, my cat Gracie looking on intently (trusting little soul) while I was reading the directions and thinking that I really needed to try this thing out on a flesh & blood moving target. I must admit I thought about zapping Gracie (for a fraction of a second) and thought better of it. She is such a sweet cat. But, if I was going to give this thing to my wife to protect herself against a mugger, I did want some assurance that it would work as advertised.. Am I wrong?

So, there I sat in a pair of shorts and a tank top with my reading glasses perched delicately on the bridge of my nose, directions in one hand, and tazer in another. The directions said that a one-second burst would shock and disorient your assailant; a two-second burst was supposed to cause muscle spasms and a major loss of bodily control; a three-second burst would purportedly make your assailant flop on the ground like a fish out of water. Any burst longer than three seconds would be wasting the batteries.

All the while I'm looking at this little device measuring about 5" long, less than 3/4 inch in circumference; pretty cute really and (loaded with two itsy, bitsy triple-A batteries) thinking to myself, 'no possible way!' What happened next is almost beyond description, but I'll do my best.. .?

I'm sitting there alone, Gracie looking on with her head cocked to one side as to say, 'don't do it dip****,' reasoning that a one second burst from such a tiny little ole thing couldn't hurt all that bad. I decided to give myself a one second burst just for heck of it. I touched the prongs to my naked thigh, pushed the button, and . . .. . . . . .

HOLY MOTHER OF GOD . . WEAPONS OF MASS DESTRUCTION . . . WHAT THE HELL!!!

I'm pretty sure Jessie Ventura ran in through the side door, picked me up in the recliner, then body slammed us both on the carpet, over and over and over again. I vaguely recall waking up on my side in the fetal position, with tears in my eyes, body soaking wet, both nipples on fire, testicles nowhere to be found, with my left arm tucked under my body in the oddest position, and tingling in my legs? The cat was making meowing sounds I had never heard before, clinging to a picture frame hanging above the fireplace, obviously in an attempt to avoid getting slammed by my body flopping all over the living room.

Note: If you ever feel compelled to 'mug' yourself with a tazer, one note of caution: there is no such thing as a one second burst when you zap yourself! You will not let go of that thing until it is dislodged from your hand by a violent thrashing about on the floor.. A three second burst would be considered conservative?

IT HURT LIKE HELL!!!

A minute or so later (I can't be sure, as time was a relative thing at that point), I collected my wits (what little I had left), sat up and surveyed the landscape. My bent reading glasses were on the mantel of the fireplace. The recliner was upside down and about 8 feet or so from where it originally was. My triceps, right thigh and both nipples were still twitching. My face felt like it had been shot up with Novocain, and my bottom lip weighed 88 lbs. I had no control over the drooling.

Apparently I pooped on myself, but was too numb to know for sure and my sense of smell was gone. I saw a faint smoke cloud above my head which I believe came from my hair. I'm still looking for my nuts and I'm offering a significant reward for their safe return!

P.S. My wife, can't stop laughing about my experience, loved the gift, and now regularly threatens me with it!
If you think education is difficult, try being stupid !!!
