So we have 31 days before the cruise sets sail. Who's sailing with us?

I'll start. I'm Allison, cruising with my DH Mark and our 9 yo DD Mackenzie.
And we can't wait to get on board!!! :cool1::cool1:

Hey Bev. My DD looked at your dog's picture the other day and said "Wow that looks just like our BC!! It could be his sister." I told her that I had already asked about it because it looks so much like ours. :goodvibes

I think I will need to bring a picture of our pooch along to show you. :)

Oh and for any new posters or lurkers. There are only 2 people on the cruise that know each other (sisters - Steph and Jen). The rest of us have never met but love to chat. So come and chat with us and don't be shy! :)

We are a family of 6 and looking forward to our first disney cruise - we are surprising the kids and hoping to pull it off until we are at the port. The only tricky part is we have to travel from Southern California to Orlando on Friday (11/27) which may be hard to do without answering questions as to exactly where we are going!! Thinking we will tell them daddy has a business trip in Florida so it sounds kind of boring. Can't WAIT to see how excited they are (and me too!) when we board the ship!!!

We have three girls (ages almost 9, 7 and 4) and one son (age 3).

Looking forward to a fun family week - just hoping nobody gets seasick!!

I asked MJ to do it but she didn't so I'm glad you sent another note.
Where did you get him & how old is he? Ours is a full border collie that we got from a rescue group 3 years ago now. So he is probably around 4.5 years old. He and his sister were abandoned in an apartment in Pittsburgh. The neighbors called immediately and got them picked up. The sister was adopted out of the shelter in Pitts. and mine ended up at Glen Highland Farm in upstate NY. They are a BC rescue group. He's an amazing dog and he even plays hide and seek. Dopey dog. :goodvibes

I'll try to copy/paste my GTKY piece from the other thread.

Wow - My copy/paste actually worked!!

General GTKY…
1. Where do you live?
Beautiful, scenic New Jersey. And yes, there are beautiful sections of Jersey so stop laughing.
2. Are you married? How long?
Married 11 years this past March but together over 15.
3. Do you have any children? Ages?
We have one beautiful DD together, aged 9. I have 3 stepdaughters (30, 21, and 19) and one GD, 6.
4. Do you have any pets?
Oh honey, we have a house full. I recommend never marrying someone who is as big an animal lover as you. We have 3 dogs - 1 rescue Border Collie, 1 puggle (dumb as a brick), and one mutt from the shelter (part Australian Cattle dog and part hound dog we think). The last one is smart but all puppy and has a hard time controlling herself.
Let's not forget the kitties. We have 2 regular old housecats and have captured the ferral kittens that were birthed in the backyard of the abandoned house across the street. They have been living in our bedroom. DH keeps threatening to send them to the pound but he adores them and plays with the one all the time. The white one is coming around but the little black one is still very skittish. DD has named them so I believe that brings the total cat count to 4.
And let's not forget the hermit crabs. Last I checked, we had 4. That reminds me that I need to clean their cage. Hmm, maybe tonight. So is it any wonder that DD wants to be a veterinarian.
5. What do you do for a living? Work? Stay at home?
We have reversed roles in our home. DH is disabled and is the SAHD. Of course they found out at school that he can fix, repair or build anything so he is there frequently "volunteering".
I work in the financial services industry as a Compliance Officer for the Commodities Trading Division for a large foreign bank.
6. What is your favorite movie?
The Wizard of Oz.
7. What is your favorite book?
Hmm, not really sure I have a favorite. I like romance novels because I have a long train ride and they let me zone out. I like the Sookie Stackhouse series (True Blood). I also have gotten into the numerous vampire series that are popping up all over. Well, except for Twilight. Do I really care about teenage angst???
8. What is/are your favorite TV show(s)?
House, House and more House. DH loves this show so it is on constantly. We watch NCIS, the Mentalist, Monk. Guess you can see a pattern here.
9. What is your favorite food?
Anything chocolately or sweet.
10. What type of music do you listen to? Do you have a favorite group/singer/band etc.?
I'm a Jersey girl so obviously I love The Boss (Springsteen for those that don't know), U2, and Pink.
11. Where did you do your schooling from?
Got my BA from Drew University in Madison, NJ and my MBA from LaSalle University in Philly.
12. Do you like sports? What's your favorite football team?
I don't really watch professional sports any more. I don't have the time.
13. How many siblings do you have?
2 sisters, one older and one younger.
14. Did you always want to be a XXX? (your profession)
I still haven't figured out what I want to be when I grow up. I'll keep you posted though.
15. What do you like to do in your spare time?
Who has spare time?? Seriously though I volunteer at DD's school as much as possible and I'm a GS leader. And we love to travel to Disney.
16. Any interesting places that you've traveled to lately?
We did the Eastern Carribbean cruise earlier in the year and loved it.
17. Any particular cuisines or dishes that you like the most?
Eggplant and scallops but not at the same time.
18. What is your attitude when it comes to money? Are you a spender or a saver?
I like to be a saver but somehow always end up a spender. I've got to work on that.
19. What does your name mean?
No idea and I'm too lazy to Wiki.
20. When is your birthday?
September 26th but you're not getting the year!!
21. What is your zodiac sign?
That makes me a Libra.
22. What are your preferences when it comes to clothes and fashion?
Now that I've lost weight I love to shop. Ann Taylor Loft is my favorite.
23. Are you an introvert or an extrovert?
I'd probably say introvert but after answering this I certainly feel quite extroverted. Is that a word?
24. Are you an outdoors person?
Yep. Love to camp and hike.
25. Are you an adventurous person by nature or do you prefer playing it safe?
Somewhat on the safe side but more adventerous than DH.
26. How was your childhood like?
Sweet. DM was a SAHM. GM lived with us. We camped every summer in ME and loved it.
27. Post a recent picture of yourself.... Hmm, let's see if I can copy that from the other thread.

Alison is a given name (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Given_name) for a female (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Female). It was originally a medieval (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Middle_Ages) Norman (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Norman_language) nickname (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nickname) for Alice (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alice_(given_name)), meaning "truth," "noble,"[1] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alison_(name)#cite_note-0) or "noble type."

Jeffrey is a common English name. It is most commonly spelled as Jeffrey, but sometimes spelled with one f as in Jefrey. The name Geoffrey is the precursor to Jeffrey, and Godfrey in turn a precursor to that, from the German "Gottfried," meaning "God's peace" or "Divine peace."

Hi, everyone! I am so glad to see you've accomplished what I tried a little while ago. I do think we may see others posting here on a thread that is a bit less overwhelming. :)

As for introductions,

I am Cam and my DH is Howard. We are doing this cruise without our DD21 and DS16 as both will be in the midst of preparing for finals (college and high school). We are travelling in connecting cabins with our dear friends Judy and Charlie. Howard and I have done the Magic Western 2 times previously and Eastern once. We have also sailed on the Wonder twice. We love Disney cruises!

Looking forward to getting to know everyone better in the next month.

3. Do you have any children? Ages?
3 kids, 10 year old girl, 7 year old boy, 5 year old girl.

4. Do you have any pets?
A dog that was a pkg deal with my husband. I'm so evil--I'm NOT a dog person--she's 13 and I joke that it will be just my luck to be the owner of the Guiness Book of World Records "oldest dog". I have a cat--Swiper--who I adore. I can't help it--I'm a cat person not a dog person.

5. What do you do for a living? Work? Stay at home?
I'm a stay at home mom but all my kids go to school now.

6. What is your favorite movie?
Princess Bride. I don't typically like kids' movies but I'm dying for Where the Wild Things Are. If it's half as good as the trailers make it looks it might be my new favorite

A Trip to the Stars by Nicholas Christopher.

8. What is/are your favorite TV show(s)?
My favorite ever is 6 Feet Under, then Freaks and Geeks. I watch Desperate Housewives every week as well as Grey's Anatomy. I love to hate the shows that follow those too--Private Practice and Brothers and Sisters. We're watching Weeds through Netflix right now.

9. What is your favorite food?
Cheesecake?

10. What type of music do you listen to? Do you have a favorite group/singer/band etc.?
I mostly listen to hippie music--Grateful Dead tops it all. Spent years of my life following Phish. Most likely to end up on the digital audio player these days: Wilco or Radiohead...I do branch out a bit and consider my musical taste pretty diverse.

Went to three different colleges for undergrad and graduated from Goddard College. Went back and got my MA there as well.

12. Do you like sports? What's your favorite football team?

Very introverted but I've learned the skills of an extrovert over the years--still really wears me out though.

24. Are you an outdoors person?
Somewhat. I like to snowboard, take easy hikes with the kids, canoe, sail, bike, garden...but I'm not a super outdoorsy type either.

SHELLEY

Gender: Feminine & Masculine
Usage: English (http://www.behindthename.com/nmc/eng.php) Pronounced: SHEL-ee [key] (http://www.behindthename.com/pronunciation.php)

From a surname which was originally derived from a place name meaning "clearing on a bank" in Old English (http://www.behindthename.com/glossary/view/old_english). Two famous bearers of the surname were Percy Bysshe Shelley (1792-1822), a romantic poet whose works include 'Adonais' and 'Ozymandias', and Mary Shelley (1797-1851), his wife, the author of the horror story 'Frankenstein'. As a feminine given name, it came into general use after the 1940s.

Jennifer is a female (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Female) given name (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Given_name); it became a common first name for females in English-speaking countries during the 20th century. The name Jennifer is a Cornish (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cornish_language) variant of Guinevere (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guinevere),[1] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jennifer_(given_name)#cite_note-p332-0) which is a Norman (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Norman_language)-derived Middle English (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Middle_English) form of the Old Welsh (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Old_Welsh) Gwenhwyfar (gwen: white, fair + hwyfar: smooth, soft).[2] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jennifer_(given_name)#cite_note-p276-1) Despite the name's similarity to the Old English words jenefer, genefer and jinifer, which were all variants of Juniper (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Juniper_(given_name)) and used to describe the juniper tree,[3] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jennifer_(given_name)#cite_note-2) there is no evidence that it was derived from these.[citation needed (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Citation_needed)]
The name has been in use since the 18th century.[1] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jennifer_(given_name)#cite_note-p332-0) Before 1906 the name was fairly uncommon, but it became popular after George Bernard Shaw (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/George_Bernard_Shaw) used it for the main female character in The Doctor's Dilemma (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Doctor%27s_Dilemma).[citation needed (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Citation_needed)] It gained even more popularity in the 1970s. Though its popularity is often attributed to the novel (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Love_Story_(novel)) and film Love Story (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Love_Story_(1970_film)),[citation needed (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Citation_needed)] Jennifer was already the number 3 name given to baby girls in the United States (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States) in 1969, the year before the book and movie were released. Jennifer was the single most popular name for American girls from 1970 to 1984.[4] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jennifer_(given_name)#cite_note-3) It is also popular for Hispanic (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hispanic) females. Since the early 1990s it has remained common, but considerably less so. Diminutives include Jen (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jen) (Jenn), Jenny (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jenny_(given_name)) (Jennie, Jenni), and Jenna (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jenna).
In contrast, "Guinevere (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guinevere)" itself is at present a rather rare first name, considered "old-fashioned" - a fate shared with "Lancelot (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lancelot)" and other Arthurian names (except for that of Arthur (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arthur) himself, still very common and popular).
The protagonist in the 1938 novel "Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Miss_Pettigrew_Lives_for_a_Day)" is very self-conscious about being named "Guinevere", which goes along with her being depicted as an unworldly curate's daughter who wears old-fashioned clothing and is very confused and intimidated by the world of 1930's London.

Erin,
I never noticed your favorite food is pierogies. You would do well in my town as its quite Polish. We even have Polish priests. :goodvibes The older ladies at church get together and make pierogies and sell them after mass. The younger ones are only allowed to pinch the dough closed. You are never allowed to be part of the "secret recipe" group if you're under 60. :rotfl2: We just had a whole conversation on pierogies at school last night and where to get the best ones. :goodvibes

i LOVE our new thred! Come on out everyone! If you're on this cruise...we want to meet you. It'll be fun! Like the others said, everyone posting met on this board (well I met my sister Jen aka DisneyCrunch when
I was born hehe)...so it's not too late to get to chatting so that you can have some "friends" on board. All are welcome....Introduce yourself!

I can't believe it's in a month. Hurrrrrrry up! I need tropical breezes--this rainy day bites...

To recap:
Stephanie, Married to Matt with 3 kidlets: DD 6, DS 3, and DD 13 months

Yep. We have been together for 11 years, married for 7. Our Anniversary is May 11th.

4. Do you have any pets?
Two cats. Jasper, and Harris. I always wanted a dog growing up, but my parents would never let me get one. Now that I'm an adult I think they are too much work... I'm happy with the kitties...but I admit they don't get treated as my "babies" now that I have human babies they've been bumped...

5. What do you do for a living? Work? Stay at home?
I have an AS in Early Childhood Education, and a BA in Psychology. Before kids I was a nanny for years, as well as working in a childcare facility. Ever since the birth of my first I've been a SAHM. Let's see...I LOVE CW shows: One Tree Hill, Gossip Girl, 90210. How I Met Your Mother, Desperate Housewives, Reality TV: Big Brother, So You Think You Can Dance, Bachelor/ette...basically I can get sucked into most reality TV....with the exception of Surviror. For some reason I can't stand that show. I also don't watch any of the crime/dr. shows.

9. What is your favorite food?
Mmmmm....Food. I LOVE food. Mexican food (well tex-mex) is prolly my favorite, but I also like italian...and SWEETS! Give me chocolate and I'm a happy camper.

10. What type of music do you listen to? Do you have a favorite group/singer/band etc.?

11. Where did you do your schooling from?
I went to a community college, and then commuted to a state school.

12. Do you like sports? What's your favorite football team?

13. How many siblings do you have?
One sister...2 years and 9 months older than me. That's Jen (AKA DisneyCrunch)

14. Did you always want to be a XXX? (your profession)
Yes, I always knew I wanted to be a SAHM, and to work with children before that. If I could hand pick a profession to jump into after the kids are in school (without having to go back to school myself) I'd love to be a labor and delivery nurse.

15. What do you like to do in your spare time?
What's spare time?? hehe...I enjoy going to the movies, out to eat, out dancing....etc. With the kidlets, and this economy I don't get to do that often.

16. Any interesting places that you've traveled to lately?
We went to Old Orchard Beach Maine last month. We go there 2X a year and stay at a hotel on the beach. The kids love it there...and in September we go with Matt's parents, and his Grandmother and Aunt.

17. Any particular cuisines or dishes that you like the most?
I guess I answered that one above...

18. What is your attitude when it comes to money? Are you a spender or a saver?
I'd like to be a saver...but I'm too much of an instant gratification kinda gal. Plus...there isn't much to be saving these days...

19. What does your name mean?
From Wikipedia...lol...
Stephanie is a female name. Stephanie comes from the Greek name "Stefanos" (Στέφανος) meaning "crown".[1] Feminine forms of Stephen in other languages include the Italian Stefania, the Portuguese Estefânia, and the Spanish Estefanía. So...we've shared some details about ourselves....now lets share some about our kids/fellow cruisers. I realize not everyone has kids...so I didn't leave it at just that. If you'd like to share some of your own interests/the interests of the ppl cruising with you please feel free!

DH: Matt 33
My hubby isn't much of a Disney fanatic. He went on his first trip to the World with me and my parents (sis, hubby and her first born)..when we were in our early 20's. His second trip was last year with our first 2 kidlets (I was preggers with our youngest) He's been on two RC cruises and liked both, plus his boss is very much into Disney, and DCL...so I think he talked up the customer service. Also (like most parents) he's really excited for the kids to have an amazing time--seeing things through their eyes is AWESOME. :) This cruise was a gift to us...so of course we're thrilled to be able to go ANYWHERE...and the fact that it's a DISNEY cruise...is the icing on the cake!! He's not much of a sports man (neither watching or playing) he's more the enjoy a nice movie at home/partake in anything water: beach, boat, pool etc./outdoors camping picnicing type. I think he will enjoy sitting on the balcony smoking a cigar, and looking at the water the most during this vacay. That and taking the kids swimming....:) and of course...EATING...and having some drinks!

My 6 year old DD is in first grade this year and onto everything Hannah Montana. Sadly she's kids outgrown the whole Princess stuff...but I'm hoping being on the cruise she will still have that little place in her heart that shines through when she sees them. ;) I always joke that she's 6 going on 16 because I can barely even influence what outfits she wears these days. Can someone tell her to slooooow down please! She did cheer for the first time this year...and although she wants to be the extroverted performing type--it's really not in her bones. I am proud to see her come out of her shell more and more as she tries new adventures. She is also into gymnastics, and takes lessons once a week. Overall....as I mentioned above she can be very shy, and sensitive...but of she makes a "friend" or has a familiar face around...it can really make all the difference.

My 3 year old (well he will be 4 Feb. 22nd) is much more social than his big sister. He goes to preschool a few hours a day twice a week, and LOVES it (unlike big sis...she kinda cried the whole time when she was 3...doh). The teachers say he's "like an old man" in that he'll just pull up a chair next to you and start chatting away. He especially likes teenage boys...I think they always are doing something cool...so he approaches them and tries to get them to play with him. ;) Even though he's very social he sometimes has a hard time with peers (what 3 year old doesn't ?) and when it comes to sharing he's either REALLY good. Or really not so good at it...lol...I always say he's my child of extremes. When he's being good (and I am using this term reeeeeeeeeally lightly) he's rrrrrrrreally good...and when he's in a "mood" he can be very challenging. :) I think he will enjoy the kids activities and I hope he makes a friend...as big sis...and the cousins are in the upper age group.

My ity bity is 13 months...will be 14 months when we cruise. Being the 3rd she's pertty used to going with the flow. I think she's going to LOVE all the characters...and hopefully she'll enjoy Flounders Nursery enough to go a few times. She's never been in a daycare setting...so it's anyone's guess how she'll do. I'm thinking the only way she'll stay asleep there in the evenings would be in a stroller...so we may be trying that if we want an hour to ourselves here and there....;) She's pretty new to this whole walking thing...so it'll be funny to see her with her "sea" legs....teehee

I was going to share a pic...but I don't think I have a recent one of all of em together...I'll see what I can drum up...:)

Share some details are your wee ones/shipmates!!!!

Let's do another GTKY type thing...
So...we've shared some details about ourselves....now lets share some about our kids/fellow cruisers. I realize not everyone has kids...so I didn't leave it at just that. If you'd like to share some of your own interests/the interests of the ppl cruising with you please feel free!

DW - Although she has a DISboard name , she doesn't post here much. But she loves Disney almost as much as I do. She is Greek (I saw someone who likes Greek food) and we are planning to visit the family (aunts, uncles, cousins) next year before a Med cruise as my wife is the only one in the USA these days since her parents passed and she is an only child. She came to our marriage a relatively reluctant traveler - she loved it but always questioned why another trip. But after 15 years, I've broken her down and she is right in the swing of things with me. Ready to hit the road whenever we can. She works part time as a healthcare administrator for a huge medical system - best of both worlds for her.

DD11 - My oldest is the shy one of the two but she is an incredibly smart kid with a great sense of humor. She is way over the princesses - never really liked them at all - but she watches the Disney Channel shows, though she has begun to move toward Teen Nick :scared1: and other more teenage stuff. She's also the athlete in the family. She is a competitive swimmer and she also takes more than 4 hours of dance every week. She has performed solos the past two years and is in a performance group that actually danced at WDW last June. She's also a daddy's girl, but don't tell her that.

DD5 - the firecracker in the crew. Emotional, chatty and funny too. And sometimes a major pain in the neck. :lmao: You will hear her coming a mile away. But she helps keep me young, I guess. As an older dad that's a good thing. She loves everything Disney but especially princesses. She wil stand in line 5 times on the cruise - even in her pajamas - to see Cinderella. She dances too and also takes gymnastics and is taking swimming lessons so she can start swimming on swim team with her sister. She is totally mommy's girl. And she knows it.

That's my crew in a nutshell.

DH is a Telecom administrator. He worked his way up in the company starting in quality control, then presystems, then he got into computers, then the phone system. We enjoy camping, riding our motorcycles and all things Disney. He is the quiet one in the family. On our cruise last year we went to the night club and there were 2 comedians. DH is great at keeping a staight face and that drove them nuts. The used him as their straight man, trying to get him to crack a smile and laugh. It didn't work, but they had me hysterical. It was so bad I almost wet myself. We were celebrities on the ship the next day. Lots of people we had never met, as well as some of our fellow disers, who had been there recognized us.
We have talked over the years about going to work for Disney when we retire and the time is getting closer. A few more years yet, but hopefully the time will go fast.:thumbsup2

Hello...I'm on the Nov 28 Magic Western Caribbean cruise . First time cruising with Disney. I'm a divorced mom, age 39, traveling with my two children...daughter, 17, and son, 12. We are so excited! Are there any other single parents traveling with kids? I'd like to meet some single adults to socialize with. My friend @ work is a Disney addict and talked me into taking a Disney cruise this year. She also directed me to this site to meet some of my fellow cruisers. I have cruised before with Carnival and Royal Caribbean. I have only heard wonderful things about the Disney cruises and I'm getting more excited as our sail date draws nearer.
:welcome:
Hi, and welcome to the Disboards. We are having a board meet on the first day on the ship in the Promenade lounge at 2:45 p.m. Come on out and meet the fellow cruisers. I think there is one single parent in our group. Her friend is the one posting and is also traveling with them. And the DD is much younger than yours. Of course there may be more people lurking that we're unaware of.

So welcome to the group and feel free to post any thoughts, questions or just tell us about your day. We're a pretty easy going group. :thumbsup2

And okay, I'll jump in with the GTKY stuff some more.

Me - Mom, Wife, Compliance officer, Girl Scout leader. That about sums it up. :lmao: No time for anything else. :goodvibes I work in NYC. Love the environment, hate the commute. Love to camp, especially FW.

DH - Stay at home dad due to being disabled. We've actually reversed roles. He is a plumber by trade but not your typical toilet guy. He used to repair large, industrial pumps. He can create, build, repair, fix, juryrig just about anything. His nickname is MacGyver. The school loves him (small, Catholic one). They found out about his skills and if he walks down the hallway he is dragged into classrooms to fix things. :goodvibes Anyway, he rides his motorcycle when he can, loves to flea market and camp. The original Disney fan. He recalls camping at FW when it first opened and pretty much spent most of his childhood at Disney. He's the one that got me hooked. So if you want to hear stories, he's the guy to go to.

DD - She's 9. Smart kid, sweet kid and a hidden sharp wit that she only takes out when she needs it (or at least we're working on that:goodvibes). It sometimes gets her in trouble and sometimes has me laughing so hard that my stomach hurts (don't tell her I said that). She loves, loves, loves to dance. She takes 3 classes a week and would take more if it fit into her schedule. She made the dance team this past summer and got to dance with at Ellis Island. She also takes Karate and has just started basketball. Oh yeah and of course girl scouts. She liked princesses but was never really "into them". Give her a good power ranger any day of the week. :goodvibes

Welcome! As Allison mentioned, we are having a cruisemates meet on the first day (Saturday) at 2:45 p.m. in the Promenade Lounge. This will give folks a chance to meet and kids to hook up with others their age before the boat drill, sailaway party and all the fun begins. Join us. Just send an email to me at jeffd99@yahoo.com with your names and ages of kids as I am compiling a list that I'll send out a couple of weeks before the cruise.

Allison
It's too bad our girls will be in different groups at the clubs since they seem to have a lot in common. Sports, dance, girl scouts, shyness, wit, a little princess aversion... Well maybe they can hook up at the pool or playing ping pong or hoops together.

Not to steal from Allison, but...

One Month from Today and we'll be sailing toward Key West
Southernmost point of the US
Duval Street
Amazing sunsets
Snorkeling
Shopping
Mallory Pier and all the weirdness there
Sloppy Joe's Bar
Ernest Hemingway's house
Six toed cats
Wild roosters
Key Lime Pie

Maybe you have a Palo brunch reservation.
Getting into the rhythm of life on the ship.

I'm getting to be too excited to sleep.

Jeff - I was thinking we would stay on the ship at Key West and enjoy pools. Anything on the list above that is fun for younger families? We have Palo that morning and thinking kids will enjoy pools and maybe kids clubs for a bit. Since you are the veteran, curious your feedback on Key West.

Oh we have been there done that with Key West so we actually booked a snorkeling excursion. I'd say you don't miss much by staying on the ship. But it's really really easy to just slip off for an hour or so and get a piece of key lime pie. Last year, we actually went to the aquarium which was really nice for the kids. They had a touch tank, demonstrations, we saw sharks, and a bunch of other stuff. If you've never been, you should get off the ship for just a short period of time and then get back and enjoy the pools. That's what we did last year.

The kids...hmm...

David is 11 1/2. He's loved all things Disney since he was little. We actually used the Disney Cruise we took when he was a toddler as an incentive for potty- trining (Mickey doesn't like diapers, we'd tell him, you have to use the potty to go to the kids club...). Of course, being a pre-teen now and all,he won't admit to loving Disney quite as much, but deep inside he still does. He's pretty active- soccer, Boy Scouts, gymnastics, and dance. He takes a combo class tap, ballet and hip-hop and he just joined a local competitive team for hiphop. His 15 minuts (seconds?) of fame came a few years ago while we were on vacation at Atlantis. Regis and Kelly were filming there that week and he got picked to be in their "Dancing with the Fans" segment. Spent half a week learning the dance with a Broadway choreographer in a conference room instead of going on the water slides. Pretty cool- hubby put the clip on Utube. We never know what we're going to get with him. Sometimes he's shy and very moody- other times very lively and bouncing off the walls.

Eliana is 6 going on 16. She's a real character. She loves the princesses and Hannah Montana and especially loves dressing up, imaginative play, etc. A real actress in training. She spent last night at David's dance class Halloween party jumping all around hamming it up in front of all the older kids. She does soccer and gymnastics too, but more for the social aspect and to just be able to let out a little extra energy than for the "sport" of it. She's really looking forward to the kids clubs!

Hubby- well, he likes both cruises and Disney but thinks I'm a little crazy with it all. He's a fun guy, much more of an extrovert than I am. He does computer IT stuff for an online travel agency.

It's great to see some new "faces" WELCOME!!! Stick around :yay:

More GTKY:

I'm a stay at home mom. Have been for almost 11 years now. I usually have a part time job to keep me busy--I made pizza for awhile and right now I am on hiatus from a job at a cool cafe where I barista up the best espresso drniks known to man (at least I'm humble ) and dole out amazing hand made pastries...I fancy myself a coffee snob as well as a beer snob. I hate the winter and don't know why I live in VT (actually I know why: because my hubby likes it here and it's not too far from my sister and parents in CT) Some of my favorite subjects are birth, parenting, and education though I don't suggest getting me started :lmao: I'm looking forward to an insane winter with three Disney vacations (I don't know whose life I just woke up in cause it's not mine!) and lots of snowboarding. I really hope to find work doing anything--even scrubbing toilets :lmao:-- for a software company in the next year.

Hubby is working as a pizza maker right now--not a sign of what he wants to do with his life as much as it is a sign of the state of the job market in VT. He's spent most of the last 10 years working for a big ski mountain in our area in a few different positions but usually one in which he spent the bulk of the day on his snowboard. His dream is to open a skateboard park and I encourage him every single day to move forward move forward move forward.

My oldest, she's almost 11. She's one in a million that kid. ;) She's a total spitfire although she's mellowed quite a bit in her "old age." She was born on x-mas--the first grandchild on both sides--my husband's parents are Jewish...It's just like her. :lmao: She is also a big dancer--hip hop these days although she isn't taking any classes--she's chosen gymnastics classes at the moment. She's a tiny little thing (you'll guess her to be 8) and she's all energy, muscle, and grace. She's an extreme extreme extrovert, she's everything "girl", and she never stops moving OR talking. She's my polar opposite in so many ways and yet I see myself in her all the time too. :lovestruc

My middle is my sweet boy who is 7. He's my most sensitive kid, but you wouldn't always know it (especially by the way he acts towards his little sister these days ) He has a lot of rules for the way things should be and if you break these rules he's quite offended--unfortunately he won't tell you the rules :lmao:. He's shy till he warms up to you but it doesn't take long. He loves--LIVES--to skateboard and he's really good at it for a wee dude. He's very artistic and he adores "nature"--plants and bugs and critters. I think he's the most like me of all my kids.

My third--my 5 year old daughter-- is a total nutcake. She is hilarious and so fun and can also be so infuriating! :yay::crazy::flower3::littleangel: She's whip smart--too smart for her own good I think. She has these curls and these big blue eyes and she totally suckers people in. Watch out for her :rotfl2: She likes a lot of what her older siblings like. She's all energy too, like her big sister--her energy is just a bit more chaotic. She's very social and loves making new friends. She's really looking forward to meeting some princesses. :cheer2: She just came over and asked me to insert that smiley :goodvibes She hasn't settled into any real solid "interests" but she loves to try new things and puts herself fully into whatever she does. She's a really happy person :lovestruc

My kids all go to the same small independent school. It isn't graded and they spend a lot of the day together moving in and out of different activities...so if you ask them what grade they're in you'll either get a :upsidedow:sad2: or a long explanation.

this is our first :dance3::welcome:Welcome!!! We have lots of girls on this cruise! Mine is 9 and she's emailed a couple of times with Disneycrunch's DD. Steph - My DH deleted the last email so Kenzie owes your DD an email. She's so mad at her father I might end getting her a gmail account. :rotfl2:

Anyway, back to the welcome! We have a meet scheduled at 2:45 p.m. in the Promenade Lounge. Email jd99 - jeffd99@yahoo.com if you'd like to attend. He's the expert Disney cruiser. I've been one cruise and we loved it so much we are going back.

Nessa if running the FE spreadsheet. Hmm, she hasn't been on since we started the new thread but I did send her the link. I'll send her a PM to see if she can come and post over here. Actually, now that I think about it you don't have enough posts to send a PM. Let me know if you definitely want in and I will send her the details. I will need your cabin number so we can put you on the list and you already provided the details of your family.

So welcome and feel free to ask any questions you want!!! And read further up the thread and if you'd like you can answer the GTKY (getting to know you) questions that were posted on the first page.

My husband is currently DROOLING all over the website and my son might just pass out dead when he sees it.

How doable is it, do you know? Are they allowed to bring boards on board? Is it far from the ship? I'll keep looking into it too. My son already asked "Are there any skateparks on the cruise?" We laughed cause we thought there was no way. Craziness. If this works out you're gonna be a hero :woohoo:;):worship::)

So...we've shared some details about ourselves....now lets share some about our kids/fellow cruisers. I realize not everyone has kids...so I didn't leave it at just that. If you'd like to share some of your own interests/the interests of the ppl cruising with you please feel free!

O.K. here we go.

Me - DM (Dear Mom) 44 Telecom System Designer (Disneyholic-your hubby and I could probably talk for hours but we will be on VACATION!!:banana: I bowl on a girls league every week and DH and I bowl every other weekend. I also sing and really love karaoke so you will probably find me there on the ship at some point.

DH Pat - 40 Cement Truck Driver and enjoys hunting small birds and deer. He has 2 black labs that are his boy children. He's also into cars and fixing them. He keeps really busy with that since we haven't had a new car in 10 years!

DD Abby - 7 (will be 8 in Dec.) Very much like mommy! An extrovert - wants to be a singer and dancer when she grows up. Loves meeting new kids and likes to be in charge. She is in 2nd grade and is in dance lessons and gymnastics. That's about all mommy has time for.

DD Annemarie 5 - She is the pleaser of the group. Very sweet child who would give you anything if you asked. She is in Kindergarten and loves to be in school and be with friends. She is also in dance lessons but I'm thinking this will be the last year. Not into it as much as the other one. She did gymnastics this year too. Again, that's about all mommy could handle in one year.

Morning all! Happy Friday!!! party: And boy I need this vacation. We've had 3 senior people resign at work, one of them being my immediate manager. His boss just told me "I've looked at the vacation schedule and while it may take some extra work ahead of time I've decided you can keep your vacation.":faint: I'm thinking that it's a good thing because otherwise I might be in jail on assault charges. Just sayin... :rolleyes1 Let's not punish the one that DIDN'T quit.

Oh yeah, and I'm a compliance officer on a trading desk. It's not like I'm the only available heart surgeon on the east coast or something. No one dies if I'm out of the office. The company still runs without me here. (sshh, don't tell anyone that)
So on that note, I asked for half a day on Nov. 25th and I'm working from home that morning! We will be on the road by 1 p.m. headed for WDW!!!:banana::banana:

And Shell - My DD also owes your DD an email. She loves to chat and looks forward to receiving them she just never gets around to typing the actual email itself.

Ackjtal - If you'd like your 9 yo DD to email mine, just let me know. She only emails on weekends though because she's managed to get herself too busy during the week. :rotfl: Just post a note on here and I will PM you my email addy. I'm sure you can receive them, just not send them.

And yeah, new people. :goodvibes Great idea to start the new thread!!

I have noticed several kids have December bdays -including my oldest daugher that turns 9 on Dec 28th. Thinking we might look into the Christmas cruise for next year so she can celebrate turning double digits on the ship! Only problem is it is a small fortune!

Happy Friday - we leave for Orlando 4 weeks from today - we will be at the airport about this time on Fri, Nov 27th!

So awesome to see the new faces!!!!

Hey BoundforDisney, it looks like skateboards are on the "no no" list for stuff allowed on the ship... BUT the place rents boards. You might want to look into it if your GS is going to want to buy one there...I wonder if there would be some way to check it till you got back home, etc...MY husband is beside himself--the park is REALLY amazing. My son still doesn't know. Are you just going to take a taxi?

I'd love to hear what excursions people are taking if you'd all like to share...We still are really undecided (well except the skatepark now)

Nice to see some new faces! Dive in....

Add me to the "lets go now!" list...

Well.....maybe not riiiiiiiiiight now. I'm still hacking up a lung from a cold...so I guess I could stand to get a little better before going. I'm getting nervous with the 3 kids, and this being sickville time of year...*fingers crossed*....I need every one to be healthy for this cruise. What did you suggest I give them Jen??

What's everyone doing for Halloween? We went trick-or-treating at the Town Hall this morning with playgroup. We got too much candy already. Ya see...I'm trying to lose weight and as the Maxine Hallmark character reminds..."Fun size candybars do NOT make for a fun sized butt....;)" ....I keep dipping into the stash. Plus, tomorrow we go
TorTing at the nursing home, then to a party, then TorTing in my parents neighborhood. Ohhhh the candy.

We still have to carve our pumpkin once Belle gets off the bus...Then it's off for some ME time....out to dinner and drinks with my BFF to celebrate my B-day!!!!!! YAY!!!!! Can you tell I'm excited. I can go to the bathroom....alone.childless.without anyone. nobody.zip.zero.just.me....hehe....Don't get me wrong...I'm thankful to be able to stay home with my kids, and I love them dearly...blah....blah....blah...but they drive me stark raving mad sometimes...and I cherish nights like tonight.....:)

What fun plans do you have for the weekend?

I still haven't started packing....but I do have most of MY dinner attire planned...:) Thats about the extent though. I really am going to start packing the summer stuff...it's just hard when it's been so cold. It is going to be hot, right? PLEASE tell me it's going to be hot!!!! Anyone cruise this similiar cruise this time of year?

DisneyMommaSteph

Oh...and I have not looked at the Dream yet. Jen keeps telling me I should. I'm scared that if I look at it, I'll want to go on it....;)

We live out in the country so we only get a couple of trick or treater's. We take the kids to a friend's neighborhood which is out in the country too but the houses are closer together. The men and women take turns each year pulling the trailer around with the 4-wheeler while the other half stays in the garage and has their own treats :drinking1

The girls already have a huge mixing bowl full of candy! I brought some to work today so others could eat it. I agree with you Steph....not so much fun when you can't fit into your jeans the next week!

Allison, I can't believe your boss would even consider not letting you take your vacation! Doesn't he understand cancellation policies? Has he/she never been on a vacation? Or maybe he/she makes enough money that the cancellation fee's don't matter. Well not me Sista! I'm going to be busy up until the time we go and right when we get back. Projects are being put on hold until I get back. I haven't been on vacation for 3 years and NOTHING...NOTHING I say is going to stop me! I'm with ya Jeff - Let's go now!

You are definitely having PM problems because I sent you the link to the new thread. I didn't want you to have to look for us. :confused3 Did you do something and have your PM ability taken away from you?? Has this group of cruisers become the bad boy(girl) thread of the dis? :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Happy Halloween everyone!! It's raining this morning. :sad2: Hopefully things will clear up for tonight. DD has a big schedule planned for today. 5 p.m. - trunk or treat at the high school (who thought of this?? :confused3), 6 p.m. at a friend's house for 90 minutes and back to our house for some fast trick or treating around our neighborhood. And the kicker is that she only likes plain Hershey bars and m&ms. I'll end up taking everything to the office. :rotfl2: I think she really just likes the quest. :lmao:

And now for the cruise update -

One month from today we will be in Grand Cayman!!! :cool1::cool1::cool1:

Well, hello again! I am finally starting to get excited about the upcoming cruise. Allison's announcements are helping too! I briefly introduced myself a while back, but now that I've signed up for FE's and stuff I figure I better just do the GTKY too. So, here it goes:

12. Do you like sports? What's your favorite team? Not really into sports. Can handle baseball. Will watch nascar.

13. How many siblings do you have? 2 older sisters and brother, and 8 step brothers.

14. Did you always want to be a XXX? (your profession) Still don't know what I want to be when I grow up.. lol

hmm might say, maybe :rotfl: I think I have sorted it now. I don't know if you guys have ever ventured over to the main wedding section but the DCL bride thread can get very heated at times :lmao: it sounds worse than it is but basically all the previous DCL brides were very well taken care of and now with all the cost cutting & lay offs at DFTW the current DCL brides have had a tough time and it causes friction lets say :lmao: I generally leave well enough alone but sometimes :rolleyes1

Jess got your email thanks :)

I just have three questions and then we are finished

1) Has anyone heard from Morgan's Mommy are they still participating as I need stateroom numbers (and guest details would be good too) but room number a must :thumbsup2

2) Have we had any new cruises join the new thread?

3) Don are you still GTY? two of our cabins are still GTY but I am hoping to get numbers for them today.

I'm up early due to the time change so...

One month from today we will be in Cozumel!! :cool1::cool1:

:banana:We're swimming with the Dolphins on Coz so we are extra excited!!!:banana:

We started geting outfits ready yesterday. Now I need to iron :scared1: and then pack them in the suitcase. I also purchased my dress for formal night. Well actually I purchased 3 and brought them home to get opinions. DH told me to keep 2 but I already have a dress I purchased last spring so I'll return 2 today. But I really like all 3. And no, I have no place to wear them or else I would keep them. I lost weight and I actually like buying clothes now. I'm in big trouble. :rotfl2::rotfl2:

Happy Sunday all! I'm back to the store to return stuff, yeah right return stuff. :rolleyes1

Oh yeah, and go buy your pirate costumes today everybody!! 50% off at all Halloween stores!!

Just back from a 10 hour day at Disneyland. My mother in law was visiting from Colorado and wanted to take the kids - but my youngest daughter was coming of a 3 day fever so she and my son stayed back with DH so I was lucky to just have my 7 & 8 year olds with DMIL. So nice to be stroller free at the park! And must say makes me VERY excited for the cruise. The girls were so excited to see the princesses and other characters and I can't wait to see how excited they are for a whole week of Disney!

Going through photos and then to bed - busy week.

You can do breakfast and lunch either way. There are sit down opportunities, buffet opportunities and grab and go as well. Whatever you choose.

DisneyMommaSteph
11-02-2009, 03:06 PM
Jeff....are there specific seating times for breakfast according to dinner seating (main, late etc.) Did that make sense?? lol...Or are there just certain bfast hours at the sit down restaurants? I only see people talking about the bfast buffet, and quick service...never sit down bfast/lunch....

I can't believe we're in the final "weeks" countdown!!! AAAAAAAHHHH! I could burst with excitement!

I tried to change our cabins today (because when we booked the DCL CM told me that we were "close to each other"...when really we were on opposite sides of the boat...*doh*) so that we would be closer to my sister and her family...The online reservation system has a tab that says you can change your stateroom and that shows you which ones are available in your category. Fine. So Jen and I both go online and we plan to switch to two cabins right next door to each other. We chose them, and press save. Then Jen notices that the her stateroom reverts back to the original number next time she logs in. Mine switches one down from the original one.

UGH. I had originally planned to do it on the phone because Jen was leary of the online system. I was confident it would work online. I guess I was wrong....hehe...

I called (I tried earlier and it was busy, then an hr wait--I didn't realize everyone was calling to book the Dream)...and she said she couldn't see the two staterooms that were showing available next to each other and that the best she could do would be 3 rooms down. Fine. I book that. Sadly, the "new" room she gave me has a connecting room....but someone is already in it. Who would want a connecting room if they aren't going with anyone??? There are plenty of Cat. 8's available...can't they move that person...?? ;) Anywho--we're closer to each other now...and I guess I'll just keep checking back to see if the other rooms becomes available....

I.

Only two days do you have a specific seating time for breakfast -- the day of the character breakfast which happens BASED on your dinner seating and the sad sad day of debarkation. Otherwise, you are free to find breakfast whereever and however you want. Even room service (though not for hot breakfast unless you are in concierge).

You need the luggage tags that are in the docs. As long as you check in on line, and you're not using Disney transport then you're good to go. Luggage tags are a must though as it has your room number on it.

PM's are private messages. You need I think 10 posts before you can do this. When you have 10 posts try left clicking on the user name and there will be a drop down menu with Private messaging as one of the options. Hi everyone!

Just booked an August 2011 5 night double dip on the new ship - the Disney Dream. It's a long way off but I found out today I could book starting today so I thought I should. :lmao:

:cool1::banana::banana:Okay, I'm officially jealous. :rotfl2:
We're still trying to figure out our dates. We may book while we're on the cruise as we're not looking for the maiden voyage or anything like that. And 2011 seems so far away. Crazy!!!

PM's are private messages. You need I think 10 posts before you can do this. When you have 10 posts try left clicking on the user name and there will be a drop down menu with Private messaging as one of the options. Click on it and it will take you to another screen where you can send a message to that person.

Thanks so much:cutie:

I must admit i am a little lost when it comes to this stuff but i am getting better:yay:

Did you want me to PM Nessa your information about your family for the FE list or are you not going to participate? We've had a few new families join our thread and now I'm lost. :goodvibes I really need this vacation!!

Oh, I can answer the question about ship boarding though. Those passes don't get you on the ship. You get your boarding number/pass when you get to the terminal in Port Canaveral. Hope that helps. :thumbsup2

This is my first post. There is me, DH Nick, DD Josey who is 12 and DD Jessica who is 8. We booked this cruise in June of 2008. Needless to say, our DD's are now having trouble sleeping. This will be our second cruise and I am ready to book our third.

I am almost giddy,:rotfl: and now DH is catching up with us.

And in case you didn't know or realize, be sure to go online and fill out all the paperwork ahead of time and print them out. It will save alot of time at check in. If you already knew then this is just a reminder to everyone who hasn't done it yet!

Any questions, ask away. Someone on here probably has the answer and if they don't they will probably find them for you. That way we all learn.

At the beginning of the thread there is a Getting To Know You (GTKY) question list. It is our way to get to know a little about everyone in our group. There is also going to be a DisMeet of our little group in the Promenade lounge at 2:45 on the first day. There is also a Fish Extender (FE)(small) gift exchange being set up for those who want to do it. Nessa is in charge of that. She needs a PM (private message) of your information, but as of now your do not have enough posts to do that, so either keep posting to get up to 10 posts or put the information on here and someone will get the information to her.

Promenade Lounge Cruisemeet Reminder
Since there have been so many new families posting to the thread, I wanted to remind everyone that we will have a mini-meet at the Promenade Lounge on the first day at 2:45 p.m. just in advance of the boat drill.

It's a great way to meet some new people and have familiar faces to look for around the ship. More importantly it's a great way for kids to meet up and have a familiar face when they go to the clubs for the first time. Sometimes the kids agree to meet at a certain time on the first day at whichever club they are in so that they can have a "friend" that first time. They may not hang together the rest of the cruise (although often my DD finds an instant friend this way) but they at least have someone familiar for that first time in the club, lab, ocean quest or stack. It really seems to help ease the anxiety for the shy ones (like my DD).

Anyway, if you'd like to join us for the meet and haven't done so already, please send an EMAIL to me at jeffd99@yahoo.com. I'm compiling a list which I will send out in the next few days to everyone participating. Just send your name, your significant other's name and your kids' names and ages along with your hometown.

Thanks! It's getting close.

The downside being the last full day of cruising and that sad sad walk back to the ship after a day in the sun...My DD already told me that she's going to cry when she gets off the ship again. She got sad and started crying when she told me, telling me how sad she was that the trip had to end. :goodvibes I had to remind her that we hadn't even gotten on the boat yet. :rotfl2:

YAY and Welcome to all the new faces....Yes, yes...we LOVE reading the GYKY's....so if you're just joining us...we'd love to read yours!!!

Yes....good reminder Jessica. Also....(as dumb as this may sound) you have to remember to PRINT the Docs...Just filling them out online isn't enough, you have to have them in hand.

I got my little UPS package of cruise Docs today. A little anticlimactic because I switched room numbers yesterday...so the luggage tags aren't even going to be used...;) Since we're staying at the hotel at the port the night before, we'd justr put those tags on for the boarding of the cruise (since we're not using transportation).. Without those tags we'd never see our bags in our room, right?? hehe

Also...in the docs is says embarkation is at 1:00pm???

Oh, ok. We're taking the 10am shuttle from the Rad. at the Port...so I was hoping that was just a general time...but they would actual let peeps on earlier. I got worried because I though most people mentioned it being 12 that they "say" you can go on (with it being more like 11:30-45)...

As far as being sad to get off the boat...
I find myself getting sad just reading peoples trip reports, and seeing them come to an end...it's just so sad. I too have to remind myself that I haven't even left yet...;) I'm worried I'm going to go through withdrawls, and I don't see us being able to afford another cruise in the near future. Luckily we're going to the World in January......

DD8 is very shy. I was already thinking the meet would be good for her. DD12 doesn't have any idea that there are strangers. She is like me and will talk to anyone. I am not sure I have enough time to pull off FE gifts. Is that something for everyone everyday, or just what ever I can work into my schedule?

Just back from a little FE shopping!! Found some fun stuff but hoping to get the final count of kids (and age/gender) plus adult only staterooms to make sure I have enough and appropriate for ages.

Now on to the packing...... (or at least making sure we have what we need)!!

Please come to the meet so they can meet each other and make plans for playing in the kid's club. My DD is an only child so she is chatting with two girls that are also on the cruise. Of course she hasn't gotten on the computer in awhile to email anyone back but...:rolleyes1. Anyway, bring your DD.

Disneyholic gave you a great link. But for a quick summation (because I'm always too lazy to read :rotfl2:), you get a list of cabins and leave little gifts for them once during the cruise. This doesn't need to be a daily event. Once during the cruise is fine. It's up to you what you put in it. We are doing smally toys for the kids and 2 things for each family that are from NJ. We are getting close to finalizing the list so if you think you want to participate please let us know as soon as possible.

And feel free to ask as many questions as you want. :thumbsup2

Also I have received the emails with changes – sorry about the kids ages muck up guys I will fix it up & re send on Sat if that’s ok, as we may have another 4 families by then.

Also someone asked a question about rooms with no kids – just look at column C – this details all the travellers in a cabin and their ages - So for example my cell has DH – 35 & Me-30, and that's it, so no kids !

But we can add an addition column that has Kids Y/N if that would make it easier for people, just let me now.

Thanks

We went to Manitoulin Island a few years back and crossed the land bridge to go across country to Niagara Falls. I seem to remember seeing signs for North Bay as we went through. Saw my first Black Bear on that trip and also saw the beginning of the Northern Lights, but by the next night we were too far south to see them again. What we saw was beautiful, but hadn't gone to full color till after we went to bed, so we could get up early the next morning to drive.

Documents are sent via UPS to you or your travel agent if you used one. To track your documents you need your cruise reservation number, your country & your zipcode (if using a travel agent, their zipcode) to put into this link
http://wwwapps.ups.com/WebTracking/reference?loc=en_US

Your reservation number goes in the Shipment Reference box.
This will track your documents and tell you when they will be delivered. If you used a travel agent, they will get them and should call you. With the tracking, you will know when they get them.

My documents were delivered to my TA at 1:15 this afternoon. My TA called at 3 to let me know they were there. I told him I already knew:lmao:. I am picking them up tomorrow. He will probably sit me down to explain how to fill them out, just like he did last year. Last Year I already had all the stuff done online and I do this year too.

We also haved camped around our home state of PA, New Jersey and Maryland near Goddard Space Center.

We have a small pop-up camper, a full size conversion van (1993) with sofa bed, TV & vcp and 2 cabin tents (1 - 2 room 1 - 3 room). We have been know to set up the tents or the pop-up in our own yard and pretend we are camping out.:lmao:The neighbors probably think we're crazy when they see us coming out in the morning, but we're having fun, and sometimes it's the only vacation we get.

New crop of questions...

We're on deck 8 mid/aft...when I look at the deck plan there appears to be a narrow (white on the map) hallway and then a grey block in the middle of the ship that runs most of the length of the ship (minus space for elevators and stairs) What is the grey block? In other words if I walk out of my room on Deck 8 what am I looking at? A wall? Clear as mud?

Can I bring snacks off the ship for excursions?

I had one more but I forgot it! :confused3

TIA!

That is about what you are looking at although there are a few doors in the wall for crew use only to crew only areas. We were on deck 8 in a cat. 4 last year about midship. In that area, if you think about it, are the deck 9 pools. The top of the pools are level with deck 9 so the water has to be somewhere.

Okay, 3 weeks from today we are leaving to drive to Florida. I sooooo can't wait. The guy who sits across from was out with the flu at the end of last week. Came in Monday hacking up a storm. I wasn't very pleasant. :rolleyes1 His boss, who sits next to him has been out since Monday. You guessed it, sick as a dog. And today, I started feeling like crap. Oh well, if we get it hopefully it will be through the house long before we leave. And his sounded more like an upper respitory infection than the flu. :sad2:

The FE that we ordered arrived today. Not sure what DH and DD wanted but I like it. They think the pockets are too small. :confused3 Maybe they're expecting a lot of loot. :rotfl2:

And Disneyholic, I had never thought about where the water was housed below the deck. That's pretty funny!! :rotfl2::rotfl2: I hope it doesn't spring a leak Jen - just kidding. :lmao:

The sickies are about the place here as well. Hopefully *if* everyone is going to get sick it'll run through before the cruise...*crosses fingers*....Today my oldest is home with a fever and a cough. I had a cold last week...and I'm just starting to feel better. I really wish I could just live in a bubble to insure that everyone is healthy for the trip. It scares me with all these sickies...I don't want to miss it.

Did you call the town clerk yet about the birth certificate Jen?

Since I changed my room number the day the travel docs arrived will they send me a whole new set of Docs?

Hi guys! There was an article in my local paper today about how all the local schools are showing higher absentee levels due to the flu. I just hope we manage not to get sick or atleast not for the cruise. I keep telling my girls they can't get sick because we can't afford to have them out of school since I am takiing them out for 5 days for the cruise. I'll definately have to up their vitamin intake.

I am waiting for my FE to come in. I've been working on FE gifts. Just need to get final numbers so I can finish up.

Trying to finalize our excursion plans. :confused3(Nothing like leaving things to the last minute) And shopping for a formal dress today.

Hope you feel better Allison! Think I am going to go out and buy some hand santizer for the whole family to carry around.

I can't believe that we leave three weeks from today. In fact, I think we'll be in the air right now three weeks from today.

I have SO much work to do before then to wrap up a couple big projects for clients - that I don't know exactly when I will get it all done. I hope to not have to work too much on this cruise, but i can guarantee you'll see me either in the promenade lounge at night time a couple of times with my laptop and a glass of wine. Hopefully I can keep it to that.

Happy Thursday everyone!

I just learned this a few months ago... For ear infections, chop up a bit of onion, squish out and warm up the juice in the microwave, use a dropper to put a few warm drops in the ear, and it helps relieve the pain. Sounds weird and disgusting but it worked well and very quickly (within minutes) on both my kids last month. We still got antibiotics- but the onion juice helped them sleep the first night before the meds kicked in.

Right now, I've got one home with a lowgrade fever and a bit of coughing. Not sure what to make of it, but as with the rest of you, I'm glad he got it NOW and not later in the month...

Yes...but i've been there before around this time of year and never have the rates been THIS high. And while I know that staying in jersey city is cheaper, if I'm coming to NYC, I'm staying in the city. I can't get into the trip in and out plus I need the hotel as my pit stop in between meetings and hook ups with friends. I appreciate the couch offer too! :thumbsup2 I used some points to bring down the price slightly at the W in Times Square so it looks like I'll just bite the bullet and hope this trip scores me some new biz to make it worthwhile.

Oh - the W was the BEST price I could come up with because I was able to use points to have it reduced. I tried everything from the Affinia Dupont to the Marriott Marquis, the NY Hilton, Sheratons, various Kimpton properties, Crown Plaza, a couple of places in Soho, etc. etc. etc. But I am going to have at least two meetings midtown and one in Soho area so going anywhere too far away from those is not going to work. Didn't know about the World of Disney store. That IS sad. Girls are going to be sad when we come in March for the Big East Tournament as that was a beloved stop.

b/c that means we will be there a little earlier than 4

This comes from the FAQ from DCL official site:

Preparing For Your Cruise
Question:
When can I board the ship? Answer For our Bahamian and Caribbean cruises, check-in registration begins at 10:30 a.m. and embarkation begins at 1:00 p.m. All Guests must board the ship no later than 4:00 p.m. Please plan your arrival accordingly to avoid the possibility of not being permitted to sail with us. For the European and Mediterranean cruises, check-in registration and embarkation typically begins at 10:30 a.m.

That is why I was concerned about you getting there "a little before 4".

If Disney is providing the transportation then the ship has to wait for them to get you there. I am just worried for you if there is some problem with the airplane getting to the airport on time to get the bus. I'm surprised Disney is cutting it that close, too.

As someone who is anal-rentatively early for EVERYTHING, this gives me heart palpitations. :rotfl2:

And Jeff is obviously correct so don't worry about what I said. My DH and I are always the first people everywhere. He just left 30 minutes early for a dr's appt that is 3 minutes away (with traffic). :rotfl2:

Right there with you Allison. Last year we drove down and got there the night before and stayed in Cocoa Beach to make sure we were close enough to get there by 10 am. If I got there that late I would definately be having palpitations. I worry about everything.

Hey

I just read an article that says if you peel onions and put them in a bowl in the rooms in your house you won't get sick:confused3

supposedly the onions have an antibacterial and antiviral agent in them:)

and if you are already sick you are supposed to put the a sliced onion in your socks - it will draw out the poisons:scared1:

anyway i am going to try it - lets hope the dog doesn't eat the onions

While I was sitting in the waiting room waiting for my girls to finish their dental cleanings I was reading a Readers Digest article that stated that eating blueberries, spinach, broccoli and onions all help you to not get the flu. Especially red onions which had the most of the thing that helped your immune system. Thought this was cool and thought I would share. :thumbsup2

Seriously, is it time to go yet??? While I was home sick (feeling much better now), I packed. :rotfl2: Guess I wasn't too sick. Okay, I'm so busy during the week that any down time needs to be filled. So yesterday I spent all day steaming our clothes. DH had already packed himself so I just had DD and myself. Umm, except for the dress clothes, underwear and toiletries, we're all packed clothing wise. And that includes a bag for the hotel for the first 3 days and the bags for the ship. :rotfl2:

Good thing I'm feeling better. I'd be bored out of my mind. Did you guys know that there is nothing good on daytime television??? Just how much of the View can people tolerate?? :confused3

I am dying to know what’s you get ………..

I am dying to know what’s you get ………..It's really no big deal. You get the luggage tags - just colored sticky tags with your stateroom number, nothing exciting, onboard airline check-in slips and DCL transportation slips. As we are doing everything ourselves, we threw out everything but the luggage tags. The only reason I get excited is because it means that the cruise is almost here!!!!:banana:

Nope, born in the US. My father's half-brother, his half-sister, and her family are the only relatives we have in Canada. I believe my uncle has been living in NB since before I was born ... over 38 years!!

Nessa - Is the FE list closed? Are we good with the list you sent earlier in the week or did other people join? I just want to finalize everything and start packing. The cruise is just around the corner.

Oh, and everyone participating - don't forget to bring zip ties to secure your FE to your fish. We don't want any of them walking away.

jealous....I took my little walk. It's beautiful outside but once I got into the store I didn't want to leave. :goodvibes

Christmas music is playing. The decorations are up. And I was in 7th heaven. I had to remind myself not to buy anything. It was very difficult. The family is coming into the city on Sunday and I'm going to take them there. I don't think I'll be able to get DD out of the store without buying something. I know I had a hard time. Dangling all that stuff in the face of a 9 yo is just mean. :lmao: So I'll cave and buy her a little something to tide her over. I'm such a good mom. ;) :rotfl2:

I'm jealous. I even wish we had our lil Disney Store in the mall--it closed last year...so sad!

Like Jen said--I GOT PIRATE STUFF!!!!! I'm so excited at the deals I got. If you have a Target near you...RUN...don't walk...Their Halloween stuff is 90% off. Practically free! I did have to work a bit because lots of costumes were missing pieces...but for 5.00 bucks I got: Me a costume, a dress--looks like a pirate wench (regularly 24.99). The baby a pirate dress, Cohen a shirt with vest, stripped pirate pants, a belt with scull crossbones, and a head piece wrap thingy. PLUS...some brown pants, boots....miscl. stuff. THEN...I went back and got Jen the same costume as me, a dress costume for Belle, another piratey costume, pants, belt, shirt...and a few other miscl. for 8 bucks. REALLY awesome. Plus I got pirate hat/scarf/eye patch sets for ONE dollar at the $ store. Can you tell I'm excited about the bargin???

Now all I need is to kick this sinus infection...and I'm ready to pack.

Jen...Doooo eit. Make a GTKY....:)

Oh, and I forgot to add. I am still lost as to what I'm going to do "excursion" wise. I really don't see myself doing any of the DCL excusion stuff (it's been driven into my head cruising RC that the cruiseline excursins are overpriced)...but I do want to do some beaches...etc. In Key West I got some Flounders time and I think Matt and I will go to some shops/bars...and get Key Lime pie on a stick.
What's everyone else planning at the ports????

I've been reading trip reports pretty mych all day every day....lol...(yes, neglecting housework...and tending to the sick self/kiddo here and there) and I've seen some fun ideas....I just don't know what we will do....

My answers:

Do you like living where you live? (and remind us again where that is?) Vermont and not so much. It's the least of the evils as far as where I can live that's close to the rest of my family. If I could move my entire extended family it'd be to N. CA or AZ. Hubby MUST live near a ski mtn.

What's your ultimate vacation?
Part of me wishes I could go to Hawaii but part of me thinks it would ruin me. When I was a kid and we returned home from our first WDW vacation I would fall asleep every night and wish I'd wake back up at Disney. I feel Hawaii may be the adult equivalent for me and my life would never feel satisfying again unless I moved there :rotfl2:

Favorite weekend activity?
Sleeping in. In the summer I love biking with the family, hanging out on the statehouse lawn playing frisbee. In the winter I like to snowboard or snowshoe. I miss the ocean and wish I could go sailing every weekend.

Worst pet peeves?
Someone chewing with his/her mouth open. I hate it when furniture is moved even a few inches from where it should be making the angles funny. I hate it when friends leave voicemail on my phone telling me they called and to call them. That's what caller ID is for. I have very particular ways I like the dishwasher loaded. I'm relatively neurotic.

If you could have lunch with someone famous who would it be?
David Sedaris

Favorite city?
Detroit. Everyone thinks I'm crazy but it is such a beautiful city. So worn down and sad but sooooo beautiful. There are so many awesome GOOD people there.

Favorite drink? (Alcohol if that's your thing--or not if it's not.)
Beer or tequila. I am a freak for good french roast coffee.

Favorite and least favorite holidays?
Thanksgiving is my favorite and Halloween is my least favorite.

Are you a morning person?
No no no. I would be happy if I could stay up till 2 am every day and sleep until noon.

Are you a Disney nut?
Yes 100%
Some Disney questions:

Favorite Park?
Magic Kingdom hands down, but I also love Animal Kingdom.
Favorite resort?
I fell in love with AKL and we're about to stay there for the first time. Can't wait.
Favorite restaurant?
Boma (so far!) I love the Crystal Palace too.
Favorite ride?
Splash Mountain but it's always closed when we go. Soarin' is a close 2nd.
Favorite Character?
Tigger but any Pooh Characters really.

I'll fill in what I can before I'm forced to go back to work. :goodvibes

Do you like living where you live? (and remind us again where that is?)
New Jersey - And yes I do like the state. Not sure I like the town or the state politics but Jersey is an attitude that can't be replicated. The state has some incredibly beautiful parts and we like it when the tourists stay away from them. :goodvibes

What's your ultimate vacation?
Not sure I have an ultimate but I do love to travel. I'd like to take the family to Europe. I love Europe and want to share. But I guess if I had to pick an ultimate vacation it would be a visit to Disney parks around the world. :goodvibes

Favorite weekend activity?
Hanging with my family and it doesn't matter what we're doing.

Worst pet peeves?
If I listed them all no one would speak to me at the cruise meet. :rotfl2: So I'll just list my big one. I can't stand listening to people clip their nails in public places. I have no problem listening to family members do it at home or when I'm at a nail salon. But nothing creeps me out more than someone clipping their nails behind me on the train or at work. I swear those nails are going to fly into my hair or something. Oh yeah, and loud phone talkers on the train. Dude, you're not the only one on the train. Shut up because no one on the train really cares about your personal life. :headache:

If you could have lunch with someone famous who would it be?
Roy Disney

Favorite city?
New York City

Favorite drink? (Alcohol if that's your thing--or not if it's not.)
Iced Coffee

Favorite and least favorite holidays?
Christmas is the favorite. And 4th of July the least because of my psycho neighbor. I always try to schedule a vacation over the 4th. :goodvibes

Are you a morning person?
Yep. Up at 4:30 in the morning so yes I'm a morning person.

Are you a Disney nut? Yes.

Some Disney questions:

Favorite Park? Magic Kingdom
Favorite resort? Fort Wilderness Campground
Favorite restaurant? Chef Mickey even though the food isn't that great.
Favorite ride? Not sure I have a favorite but DD loves Splash Mountain and I love to go on it with her.
Favorite Character? Eeyore

Phew, got that done before I have to schlepp to my meeting.

Do you like living where you live? (and remind us again where that is?)
Illinois. Yes, I like living here, maybe not the particular city that I'm living in, but I do like to have the change of seasons and I do prefer the cooler weather. Hubby lives in Irvine and I love that city. Much too expensive to move to though so once I finally move out there we'll have to find something with a comparable feel, but more affordable.

What's your ultimate vacation?
I would really love to do the Adventures by Disney tours of Germany, the Alps and Alaska.

Favorite weekend activity?
Reading a book ... uniterrupted.

Worst pet peeves?
I agree with Eeyore'sthebest and have to say the sound of nail clippers. I also do not like the feel of them being used on myself ... I prefer to have my nails filed. What makes this even worse is the fact that I work for a foot doctor so I hear this noise day in and day out!

If you could have lunch with someone famous who would it be?
Ugh, this is tough. I guess it would have to be my favorite author, Jen Lancaster.

Favorite city?
Chicago

Favorite drink? (Alcohol if that's your thing--or not if it's not.)
Dr. Pepper or unsweetened iced tea

Favorite and least favorite holidays?
Favorite holiday - Easter, because I was born on Easter Sunday! Least favorite - Halloween.

Are you a morning person?
Yes. I believe it is physically impossible for me to sleep in.

Are you a Disney nut?
Oh, yes. Hubby and I were married in WDW, honeymooned there and visit a minimum of once to twice a year.

Some Disney questions:

Favorite Park?
Disney's Animal Kingdom

Favorite resort?
Wilderness Lodge

Favorite restaurant?
Mama Melrose

Favorite ride?
Kilamanjaro Safari

Favorite Character?
Pluto

However, I am getting completely separate gifts for adults-only staterooms. I really don't think they want the kid stuff that I bought. If a stateroom has kids in it then they won't get the adult gifts. Make sense?

Hi Jill - we have two of our girls the same age. You should consider coming to the cruisemeet so the girls can meet. I have a DD11 who will be in Ocean Quest and a DD nearly six who will be in the Oceaneer's Club.

Meet is at 2:45 p.m. on day one in the Promenade Lounge. If you want to come, just PM me with the info on everyone who will be there and your home state/province. I'll be sending out a list mid week.
