Hi gang!
I'm on the Western following your sailing. We have suggested that people call in and ask DCL for more scheduled activities on port days based on the recent reports of crimes against cruise line customers (in Nassau and Cozumel). We are not asking for things that would eliminate the shore time that some CMs get on port days, but simple things. For instance, if DCL would run 4 different movies in an 8 or 10 hour shore day instead of running the same 90 minute movie twice, that would not involve much crew time but would make something else available to us.
For those who haven't followed the threads, in the past few weeks there have been 2 reports of robbery in Nassau, one involving a DCL tour group. In addition, there was a traffic accident in Cozumel involving some people from the Magic; before the authorities arrived, those injured or killed in the accident had their personal items "disappear."

Then leave for the airport. I forgot we are traveling to Indianapolis on Black Friday. My husband doesn't seem to think that will be a problem. We are going on the busiest interstate to the biggest Indiana city on Black Friday. And, DH thinks it will be no problem. I did convince him to leave an hour earlier. I am still trying for even earlier. See you all Saturday.:dance3:
I actually realized the same thing the other day! Not only do I NOT get to shop on Black Friday, but I have to deal with traffic at 5 a.m.! What in the world was I thinking! :confused3
I think I'm loosing a hour of sleep each night the closer we get to leaving - who needs sleep anyway! I'll get to nap on the ship!! :cool1:
Here's to Kathy - wish you could've made the trip this year!

Thanks for the heads up and I'll make that call! I appreciate all your help and advice on the boards. Thanks again!
Bumping up our thread. We will be leaving tomorrow. Looking forward to meeting everyone on Saturday! Safe travels to all.

This sort of thing just happen sometimes. We were on the Mexican riviera cruise two summers ago and a HUGE storm hit us coming out of Puerto Vallarta. Ship was flooding a bit - water running down the elevator shafts. Staff took it in stride. Shut down one bank of elevators. Got out the clean up equipment and activities just continued as usual. No worries. Vacation is close!!! We leave the house in 3 hours for the airport.:banana::banana::banana:

Alright, thanks for the reassurance. The way people are talking on that thread all "I wonder about the NEXT cruise" **! :sad2:  That sounds crazy about the flooding on your cruise! My dad said one of the engines stopped working on the RCCL cruise we went on in '94 (my only other cruise)
Happy Turkey day to those who celebrate, and safe travels to all. We're in CT at my parents' everything is packed in the car...we fly out tomorrow afternoon. I can't believe it's FINALLY here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:woohoo::woohoo::woohoo::woohoo: :woohoo:

And of course I didn't buy trip insurance because of the added extra cost! Hope it really will be fixed and not a problem!

We had such a great time last week and think we all lucked out with the weather! Somehow it was easier leaving the ship with dark skies and rain but feel bad for the next cruisers. We are up to our eyeballs in laundry today but just downloaded all our photos and took a quick buzz through them (nearly 900). Such good memories for a lifetime.
Thanks everyone for all the FE surprises - that was so much fun. Nice to meet you all - and happy holidays!

Finally, home early this morning. We detoured to DTD to do some Christmas shopping. My credit cards are smoking this morning. :scared1:
I just read the report of what happened to the Magic just before we got on!!! Oh my goodness its a good thing I didn't know about that beforehand.
It was a wonderful trip. I'm so glad I got to meet so many of the disboarders. I even have a picture of Nessa and her husband. Once I upload it to photobucket I will post it. The wedding was beautiful (we peeked over our balcony) and Nessa was a beautiful bride. :bride:
Thanks for all the wonderful FE gifts. My DD has a backpack to unpack still!!

Home finally! It was snowing when our plane landed.... lol It was actually kind of a nice surprise! Loved the cruise and was so happy to meet everyone. Would love to see pics of Nessa's wedding as I don't think I ran into her at all during the cruise and she was only a few doors down!
Got on the computer first thing and started shopping for the next cruise! The Mediterranean one is at a very tempting price right now, but I'm afraid of taking the kiddies out of school for 10 days in addition to the 5 they were just out... maybe I'll go talk to our school principal and see what she says. Such a great deal though.

The Med cruise would be nice. Hmmm, maybe I'll think about that one too. We're hoping to do the Wonder next Halloween. This way we have been on both the Magic and the Wonder.
Glad to know you made it home safe.

We're baaaaaa-accck!
WOW! Did we have the best weather, or what?? We had an amazing time...and I'm so sad to be back to reality...;) My house is still rocking....hehe....
We got our first dose of reality on the way home. Our flight was canceled out of Baltimore...so we had to stay the night in a hotel (darn snow!)...and I didn't get that day of re-couping yesterday....BUT...it was worth it!!!! It's so c-c-c-c-c-old here. It's hard to imagine I was splashing in the purdy waters at Castaway Cay just 3 days ago. Ahhhh if I could bottle up that sunshine, and warmth...
I will say the upside to the snow dusting and the frigid weather is that it actually feels like CHRISTMAS IS IN 3 WEEK!!!?!?!?!? I thought the Christmas decor was nice and all on the boat...but it hardly felt like the Holiday season with the 80 degree weather, and humidity....;) I thought it was so funny when they gave egg nog, hot chocolate and sugar cookies when we got back to the boat at Castaway Cay....hehe
It was so nice meeting you all...and I loved that from the second we stepped into the terminal it was full of "friends"....I loved seeing everyone around....:) I wish we could have spent some time together...but I understand with all the hussle and bussle of the vacation. It was great to get to spend some time with you Shelley...and fam. It seemed like we were on the same "schedule"....;) Can you believe we survived the Tequila tasting?? hehe
We didn't book onboard...as we don't know if/when we'll be able to cruise in the near future...but I will say I'm already jonesin' to go back.
Belle went off to school today with tears (hey, stop that...they are going to get angry with me for pulling you out if you can't adjust back in...hehe)....and the kids are already asking to go back. It was so sad when they waved at us leaving the boat...
Today is a day full of laundry and all that fun stuff. Again, very sad to be back to reality....but I'm full of wonderful memories...and I'm feeling really satisfied that we got to do all the fun stuff we planned and anticipated....:)
Can't wait to hear the details of eveyones trip....

I don't even know where to start. The weather was fabulous. All of the crew and staff were fantastic. The fish extender gifts were wonderful. The meet and greet was great.
That doesn't even begin to describe the trip. We have looked at pictures (1300 between hubby and me). The girls think it is great that there was snow on the ground this morning and they have fresh suntans. They can't wait to see their friends to tell them all about the trip.
Thanks to everyone for the FE gifts. Like previously said, it made the trip extra special for Josey and Jessica.
I am in the process of booking a cruise for me and my two sisters for 2011. We will all have finished our college education and are planning on a huge celebration.
My family is planning on for sometime, just have to think about all the options first. (There are so many)

According to the reports there was a fire in the smokestack on Wednesday when they were leaving St. Thomas. Apparently they lost power and were effectively "dead in the water". One of the reports said that the fire doors closed as well. After about an hour the power was back on.
Then someone said the stabilizers were out of for the rest of the trip making for a rough ride. And to top it off, due to high winds on Friday, they had a problem docking in CC. Apparently tried 3 times before they were successful around 12:45. They had to serve lunch on board.
But on a positive note, they passed within shouting distance of the Wonder and had a horn war. :thumbsup2
So this would now explain why they kept saying that we had fabulous weather and travel conditions. It's amazing that the crew never let on to the ship's previous problems. It always amazes me how they make you feel that you are the first ones to get on the boat. :lovestruc

Hey everyone! It's so good to be back in New York! :headache: Snow, ice, freezing temps. Wasn't just a few short days ago I had my beach chair in the waves on Serenity Bay?? :cloud9:
We had a fabulous time. Excellent stateroom, wonderful servers, great food, amazing shows. We rebooked the 7 day Eastern for fall of 2011 but might change it. My husband has a keen interest in the Med cruise. 'S OK by me! :thumbsup2
The one bad thing was I got terribly sick. Still am actually. A wicked sinus infection, which I had never had before. I was feverish and had chills and stayed in our stateroom sleeping for so long I missed the character breakfast and the new show (which I can't think of the name of right now). My friend who was in the stateroom next to us also got a sinus infection. We had asked our stateroom host (who was A-M-A-zing, BTW) to have the a/c turned up since our room was so hot at night and we think we might have caught something from the recurculated air. Strange that we both did the same thing and now both have the same issues. But who knows, really. It could have been anything I suppose. :confused3
Stephanie - So happy to have met you! :yay:
Hey everyone. My first chance to check in and say hi. It was great to meet so many of the folks on this cruise and thank you all for the great fish extender gifts. It was always fun to come back to the room and see what was there.
We booked a couple of new cruises on the ship - have 5 future cruises booked right now - but we know we are canceling one of them for sure, possibly two. Just like having the dates held in the cabin we want at the discount before making final plans. We have this same week's sailing booked as of now for next year and Turkey week for 2011 but not sure if we will keep one or both (or none). We are cruising the Med in August 2010 for sure and we have two Dream sailings booked but may only keep one of them.
I'm now in NYC (hi Allison!) on biz but back home tomorrow. Girls seem to have developed bad colds as of this morning which is a real bummer.
I'll post some pics eventually here but just wanted to say welcome home to the cold, the snow, the rain and the ice for so many of us. yippee.

Hi Jeff! Welcome back. I'll email you some pictures that I have of the girls at the beach! I have to tell you that running into you guys in GC was a huge hit with Mackenzie. She is still talking about that day. And of course I had fun hanging out with adults!! :)
We have one other cruise booked right now. We are doing a 4 night on the Wonder departing on Halloween 2010. We haven't been on it and wanted to sail before it moved West. We also want to book a couple of back to backs on the Dream. But as I'm treating the family (including parents), I didn't want to bite the bullet on board without first consulting with them. It's supposed to be a 50th anniversary trip for them. DSis(s) are supposed to come but I have a feeling that I will end up paying for their cabins as well in order to facilitate this. They love to travel...at my expense.
I hope Lizzie and Emily are feeling better sooner. Kenzie started with the stuffy nose last night. Hopefully it will pass quickly.

The Grand Caymen beaches were my FAVORITE!!! :) I was so bummed with the waves at Cozumel....
Aubrey had a cold with a bad croupy cough....Jen's youngest has a bad cold too. I hate to see the kids sick...but I'm SO grateful that everyone was healthy for the trip...I was stressing about that before hand.
We don't have any future cruises booked...*sniff sniff*....and in all actuality the next time we get to cruise will prolly be just the adults on a Royal Caribbean (just soooo much cheaper, especially without having to fly)...I do hope to take the kids on another Disney Cruise someday...as they are still begging to go back....:)

It was great putting faces to names at the meet. We did run into a few of you later, but I am horrible remembering names. I remember faces better. I remember running into SuzanneCat and Mina and 2 others, but can't recall the names right now.
We took the Autotrain home on Sunday which gave us an extra day of WDW. We took in MK & the Osbourne family lights at DH on Saturday. We got home around 3 on Monday.
Had to go back to work on Tuesday all day to make up for taking off Monday. Now I have off till 5 tonight. Trying to catch up on the laundry and other unpacking. I had a lot of laundry left from before we left. I feel like I'm never going to catch up, but it was all worth it.
Was there a family in the Fish Extender group called "The Hodgson Boys"?
We didn't go in on the FE so I don't know who was on the list. On the last night of the cruise we came back to the room and found a bag hanging on our door with "Happy Sailing from: The Hodgson Boys". The items in the bag seem to be from Australia, so I suspect someone in Nessa's group. We were just down the hall from her. We ran into her and her new husband the night of their wedding. She looked beautiful in her Wedding Dress and I might add, he was very handsome too.
We rebooked onboard for May 29, 2011 on the Dream for a 5 night CC double-dip. It seems a long way off, but so did this trip when we booked it and now it's over already. Had a great time & great memories.

Hey guys! It was nice to meet some of you! Bean really hit it off with some of the kids and we had fun "bumping into" some of you guys around the ship and the ports :goodvibes There were many of you who we met the first day and wished we could have seen more of--I think the kids could have had a lot of fun together (and us too!) I wish we had planned more get togethers throughout the week...
Anyone writing a trip report? I might do a very brief one I haven't decided yet.
Boundfordisney, I was bummed that I didn't meet you at the get together in the promenade and couldn't send the skaters off together. Were you at the meet up? Did you make it to the park? Hubby and son did and they had a blast! They didn't see anyone (literally) else there but they were done by noon cause of the heat (they got there at 9:30) so we were thinking maybe with a teenager you guys took up the late shift :confused3 ;)

She's been using her HSM water bottle at basketball practice. :thumbsup2
And I believe you met my DH in the adult area by the pool. He was the smoker in the ECV that was having those problems with that couple.

Oh how cool! You know I thought you were on the disboards because you mentioned the ship had a brig and a morgue! :rotfl2:
Turns out that the couple that was harassing DH was flagged by Disney. They weren't allowed to order any more alcohol. Apparently they were in the adult area attempting to get people to buy them drinks. And one of the other people DH was chatting with told him that the woman was purposely trying to fall down in the bathroom and hurt herself so she could sue Disney. :sad2:
And to make it even worse, these weren't young adults. He said they were easily in their 50s and their son that was with them was 31. :sad2:

OMG - How did I miss this? I didn't spend a lot of time at the adult pool but I did go there a number of times. Didn't notice this kind of bad behaviour, but I did notice a lot of parents having their kids come into the pool area to "meet" them. First time I've seen that before since my kids are never allowed there.

Hello All,
Had a great time on the cruise, all of us did. As for those intoxicated adults, I saw them several times when I would retrieve my Mom from the smoking area. They were intoxicated from the moment they woke up till the moment they passed out. At one point the male did a face plant on the deck as he was so intoxicated (he was escourted back to his room in a wheelchair by Disney). I heard his wife had to receive IV treatment for her behavior. They never went to any dining rooms, left the ship, nor any shows. Not sure why they chose Disney. Can't image what their bar bill was. By the way, they are both bus drivers for a school district in PA (watch out).
Great to meet so many of you,
Kim

We landed in snow but otherwise the trip home was fine. We even got over to the Kennedy Space center for a few hours after leaving the Magic. It was so nice meeting everyone- thanks for all the cool FE gifts, too! I know Eliana had a great time with Erin, Kim. I have some cute photos to email you- just finishing photoshopping everything today and tomorrow... Thank you all for all the good hints and advice too- we had a fabulous time and the kids are of course already asking when we can go back (not sure, exactly, but maybe sometime after David's Bar Mitzvah (May 2011).
Just curious, is there a separate place to post photos from the trip?

Suzanne,
Erin has already been asking me to set up an email address for her so she can try and get in touch with Eliana. Amazing how quickly they can form friendships. I have a nice picture of the 2 of them on the stairs also. Not sure where to post pictures, but hopefully someone will know. Keep in touch.

It's so c-c-c-c-c-old here. It's hard to imagine I was splashing in the purdy waters at Castaway Cay just 3 days ago. Ahhhh if I could bottle up that sunshine, and warmth...
Can't wait to hear the details of eveyones trip....
Sorry I haven't been able to check in earlier. I flew to Chicago Sunday night and just got home. Leave Monday for Sioux Falls, SD - yeah. Why can't I go to warm places in the winter? :confused3 It managed to get above 0 today....yes I said 0!! What a shock to go from 80's to 0! Annemarie was crying during the last night during the show. She was also sniffling when we were walking down the gangway. She's the sentimental one obviously. Really enjoyed spending time with you and Jen too. I think I would've been a gonner if I would've had one more tequila! I think we will have a wait at least 2 years before we go again. Really like the idea of an adult one. Hey Steph....there's an idea!

Hey shelly! :)
Hey, did anyone ever hear the story with the crew member who had to be taken off the ship by the coast guard? We watched the cutter come up to the ship etc--it was wild. I hope the person is okay.

All I heard was what they announced overhead - that a crew member fell ill overnight and needed hospital attention. I couldn't find anything on the internet. I hope he/she is o.k. too!
I'm hoping to win the lottery tonight so that I can have my stateroom attendant move in with us. I REALLY miss having someone clean up after me every day! Denita rocks!

I even have a picture of Nessa and her husband. Once I upload it to photobucket I will post it. The wedding was beautiful (we peeked over our balcony) and Nessa was a beautiful bride. :bride:
I can't wait to see them. I didn't get a chance to meet her at all during the cruise. Thanks for doing that!

Hey Shelly!
Yeah...we're eyeballin' a RC cruise, for just the adults...you should join us....:) We haven't gone anywhere without the little since Belle was 2 (5 day cruise)...I think we're about due...;)
Hiya everyone else! How are you adjusting back to real life?? It's though...but we're getting in the Holiday spirit...embracing the freezy temps...hehe
I wrote a lil trip report. Feel free to share any of your pics over there--I'd love to see em'...

My 10 days at WDW after were great also.:woohoo:
Talked to the Capt and all he would say was the man needed surgery and they had received word it went well.

That is real strange, we talked to the Captain too and he said that within an hour of being back on the mainland he was much better! Mmmm...
