OK, Double dip cruisers! Here's our new thread.

I was just getting ready to do the same thing but you beat me to it. Great minds think alike, huh?

we also will be on the cruise my DH, DS 8 and DD 5.

Hi-We are brand new to the site and so excited to be going on this cruise!!

:welcome: Great to have y'all along. Don't forget to PM me with your google contact info so I can invite you to the spreadsheet.

Speaking of the spreadsheet, I'm sure y'all noticed I didn't get to summarizing the numbers yet. I'm going to do that this morning. I spent a wonderful day with King Charming driving around looking for houses. I feel much better now because most of the places we stopped I was able to say "yep... called about that one and it's $XXX a month". But there were a couple of new ones out in this one neighborhood that I keep being drawn back to. And we found a cute little house on a corner lot that has a fenced back yard and everything else. We called on Saturday about it and then yesterday just before KC was going to leave to head back to Tallahassee the agent called us so we were able to go look into it. The bedrooms are tiny but that's okay because each boy would have his own. It's a perfect little place!!!

Now I just have to go talk to the bosses at work and find out whether they're going to convert my contract-to-hire to hire or not. I can't sign a lease not knowing that I have a job. It's going to be a tough conversation (mainly because I know I'm not as technically advanced as they thought I was when we interviewed) but it has to be had. I sure hope it works out well. This would be an EXCELLENT place for me to learn all these technical details that I haven't learned all these years. But if it doesn't, now's the time to know. I'm pretty sure they're going to hire me on but the question is are they willing to pay enough to make the move worth it. We're still at a point where I can move back to Tallahassee if we need to. Being a HYPERMOMMY you know I'm fretting but I keep trying to convince myself to just leave it all in God's hands. I'm trying........

And then after the guys left I didn't get to the spreadsheet because I had an idea of what to do with my website and I worked on that. You should have seen how surprised I was when they called to let me know they were home okay. They made great time, yes, but I couldn't believe the time went by so fast either. Guess that's what happens when you're enjoying what you do, huh?

Did I get anything done on FEs or SMs or magnets for the door or any of that? Nope..... Guess I'll be hanging out at Kinko's the night before the cruise, huh? LOL

But I'm about to get the spreadsheet summarized in the next post so I'll be a good girl this morning.

Hi there!

Something strange happened to the spreadsheet. Some of the totals were gone and some of the header columns had personal info in them (i.e., as if a person had put their kids names in the header column or something). I have a feeling that maybe someone filled out the original questionnaire thing (remember that... back when the spreadsheet was just a spreadsheet and not the Hydra workbook it is now?) and that google's program doesn't work as well as we thought it might with new information going in through the questionnnaire.

Anyway... I believe I've put things back to right and that these are correct numbers. To answer everyone's first question... no, the FE numbers were not messed up at all so these should be accurate as far as the info we have at this moment.

Anyone have any good last minute tips on cruise items to pack that will make life easier like the over the door shoe holder for the bathroom.

Prayers for you Linda that all will be well.

Thanks for fixing up the spreadsheet Denise. I also tried my hand at fixing it, but I'm not sure if it carried through to the original sheet.

:sick::sick::sick: Yankees!!! Gaack. Go Phillies!!!

This is our last full week until we leave for WDW. Got all the summer clothes laundered yesterday. Will finish up the FE gifts and pack the mailing box in a couple of days. Got to get my vacation notebook pulled together with all the documents and then visit with the girls' teachers to get all their vacation homework this week. Being realistic that they won't work on it at WDW or the cruise, I'm going to mail it all to Grandma. :lmao: They can work on in while we're there during Thanksgiving week. Finally, packing this weekend!

Sending special dust your way!

I want to remind everyone of a few things we have going on for the cruise. On every deck one stateroom has been assigned to host a message board for updates. If your stateroom number changes please jot the new stateroom number on your decks message board. The stateroom numbers are listed inside your mini navigator.

The Mini-navigators will be available when you pick up your lanyards. Due to the cost of printing, there will be a limited amount available. I hope to have them available on the internet for downloading by friday of this week.

We are also hosting 2 book exchanges. One for Children and one for adults. After the cruise, the books will be donated to the ships crew or childrens areas. Please bring a book or two and drop them off in the bags hanging outside stateroom # 7558 (kids) and #2578 adults. :woohoo: Magazines are also welcome!! (vacation reading!!)

If your stateroom number has changed and you have not already updated the spreadsheet please to so ASAP. I am trying to make the mini-navs available on line by this weekend.

The lanyards are now closed. I have them bagged, tagged, and sealed!

If you have any questions please PM me!

See you real soon!!!!

HI! Ok, I have tried to figure out what FE and SM's are. Sorry I am so green on this, just learning the ropes. Can anyone help me out?

FE = Fish Extenders They are a multi pocket fabric dohickey that hangs on the metal fish just outside your stateroom door. They are original to the disboards started by Epcotkilterfan during the 2005 panama canal cruise.
Most are homemade, some people just decorate a tote bag, others have them custom made. (see ebay).

SM = Secret Mickey This is a gift exchange like "secret santa" I know you had to sign up for it on the spreadsheet, but don't know if its closed.

Hope this helps, I will try to post a couple of links for you as well.

How could the Yankees lose like that!!!!! I am totally rooting for them on Saturday. Before you all wonder what happened to my mind, I just have to say that my newfound love of the Yankees involves $$$$. Yes, DH has advised me that if the Angels win tomorrow, his BFF has tickets to game 7 at Yankee stadium. They plan to take a red-eye out to New York on Saturday night after the game if the Angels win (my B-day no less!!!). I know this little jaunt will cost a pretty penny and since we are in the middle of swimming pool construction and are leaving for a 10 day vacation in a few weeks, the extra expense is causing me great anxiety :headache:. What is it with boys and their sports? Anyone have a $$$ tree they can lend me? :flower3:

:cheer2: GO YANKEES :cheer2:

You know as I was watching last night I kept thinking about you and your DH.

Thanks again, everyone. Scans are over and easypeasey, now the wait until results, hopefully by the doc appointment tomorrow morning.

The best part was sitting in the sun outside the imaging place for an hour while I waited for dh to collect me. I LOVE sunshine and we haven't seen much lately.

Welcome aboard new people!

Cynthia, Thanks for your hard work on navs/lanyards/message boards - you really did so much!

Sounds like a great strategy - send the homework to Grandma and let HER deal with it! lol

Well, I will officially go on record - I am an Indians fan (yeah, poor me but being a Browns fan these days is even harder) and it is too difficult for me to say anything nice about the Yankees. So, I just won't care and you all have a grand time with all of it. Someday - it will be my turn!

:hippie: peace and relaxation to all.

My biggest tips: single dollar bills for room service, night light for bathroom with built in air freshener and extra outlet (Target), clothes pins for bathing suits, a bottle of liquid anti bacterial soap for bathroom (I hate gross bars)...OTD shoehanger a must. I am trying a new tip that I found on the boards...3M hooks for lanyards. I like the lanyards hanging up so they don't tangle. Hope this helps a little...

Tide instant stain removal pen
Starbucks Via (if you're persnickity about your coffee like me)

Our middle son spent a year in Croatia as an exchange student - putting him on that plane was one of the most difficult things I have ever done - and then watching him walk up the steps and disappear inside - tore me up. But, it was SO good for him - he did me proud, just as your son is doing you. We had email (will you?) and we could call sometimes too. The time will pass faster than you think.

That must be hard. Well, he's giving back to society, what a proud mama you must be!

I'm having a rough day as well. Those who's been on this thread for a while may remember my poor dog having a stroke back in March. This morning we found her unresponsive again. The doc thinks it's internal (tumor or fluid buildup) so more tests or "diagnostics" as she calls it. So far this year, our vet bill could more than pay for this cruise... THEN, on my way to work, I hit the center median while making a left turn and blew two tires.

Hugs, pixie dust and prayers to all who are hurting or anxious.:grouphug:

I want to tell you about this cool travel toothbrush holder I got at the Container Store. It sounds strange to get excited over a toothbrush holder, but this one is triangular and the top fits into the bottom when its open so it makes a base that your toothbrush can stand up in! In these days of plastic glasses in the bathroom, you can't just stand your toothbrush up in a glass anymore, they fall over. It wasn't expensive, but I love mine.

I put together my medicine bag (gallon zip lock) this weekend. Pepto, benedryl, nyquil, daycare, motrin, tylenol, tums, bandaids, robitussin and ace bandage. I hope we won't need any of it, but better to have on hand just in case.

Re-reading this I sound like a stick in the mud. I promise I'm not, these are just a few hints I thought I would pass along.

And, for anyone interested in countdown information, 17, Cheshire Cat.:rotfl: For our newbies, see post 3504 of previous thread.

Did anyone book Boatswain Beach online to get the 20% off and Free Transportation?

I book it for myself and my DD(10). We are paying $54.00 which is alot cheaper than Disney. When I asked about the Fee transportation, I found out that the bus does not leave until 10:00am. I was hoping to get there a lot earlier than that. It opens at 8:30am. I was wondering if anyone else who was going is going to try and attemp the bus system. I heard that you can get there on the public bus for $2.50 per person. I am not sure if I am brave enough to try it on my own with just my daughter. What are other people doing?

Thanks

I want to go to the turtle farm with our grandkids, but DH is going snorkeling in the morning. I'm afraid to not go with Disney. I don't want to be left behind in case of the bus breaking down or traffic jam.:confused3
He might give up the snorkeling and go with us. We have to check the times of everything.

The public bus is easypeasey! If the bus you're on breaks down, there'll be another one in 15 minutes. It's about a 10 minute walk to the bus depot from the tender doc. The starter will ask where you want to go and tell you which bus to get on. We got on and rode it out to H*!! and back just for the fun of it. We sure got an earful about the politics of GC, lol.

Gang. I need dust, prayers and whatever else you've got to spare. Thank heavens my cat scans didn't show anyting dire. But I do have pneumonia. We leave for Florida on Saturday. Doc doesn't want me to go. I'M GOING! Please send dust.

pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust: You take it easy, you hear??? You are to do nothing for the rest of the week, except some light packing. Make sure you take lots of extra meds with you! And you are not to do any excursions until you feel 100% better. You may only lounge around the adult pool or on deck 4. Drink lots of fluids. NO walking around in the hot sun young lady!!

Boatloads of pixie dust are on the way. There isn't anything they can give you for medicine either (I had that once, coughed up all ten toes). Can you just take it easy on the drive down? How insistant was he? You need to take it super easy on the way down. But, what trouble can you get in riding in a car???

I'll be celebrating my 28th on the 15th at Castaway Cay. Couldn't have asked for a better place lol.

I feel like my wife(Haley) and I are cheating. We just got back from our Honeymoon on the 19th and are on the way back before a month has passed, lol.

Ohhh sounds like a great way to finish off the month!

We were thinking of doing boatswain on our own too. We were just going to cab it there from port. I've been on the fence about Boatswain. Some have loved it, then I heard some stuff on tripadvisor that said it really smelled (literally). Not sure about if we're going to end up buying it online or not. We were also going to do Chankanaaub in Cozumel on our own too.

Welcome! To see a list of the group activities, click on the link in my signature. Be sure to join us for the Official DISMeet on Saturday at 2 pm in the Promenade Lounge. You will need a google account (you can get one for free at the google website if you don't already have one) to access the workbook. PM me with your google email and I will send you a link to the workbook. The Secret Mickey is closed, but you still may be able to get into the FE gift exchange.

We need 4 more people or 2 more couples to book the private room for 6pm!
We have until noon today so one last chance to toss your name in the hat....

Good Morning, everyone! Day shift, checking in.

Welcome new folks. Better late than never :) Too bad you missed all those months of fabulous exciting interesting conversations:rotfl: We've already filled one thread.

SO glad I finished and packed all the FE gifts, SM gifts, Kitchen box for DVC, evening clothes bag etc over the last 3 weeks. All I have to do is unplug and pack the computer, toss in my toiletries, and walk out the door. But please, keep the pixie dust coming! I see the pulmonologist on Thursday.

Happy day, all!

Linda - THANKS for starting the new thread!! I knew I'd miss the original one hitting page 250, and I was right. :)

Welcome and Congrats to those joining us for the cruise.

Ones less day till we depart.

Oh, it looks like we've got 3 people (including myself) that have been picked as hosts for the DCL House Party!!! Hopefully all of us will get our party packs before we have to leave for the cruise. There is myself, Tara, and one other person (sorry, I forgot your name).... is there anyone else in this crasy group that's been selected as a host???

Anyway, I'm going to be late for work now...... Oh well....

Good Morning! And another day closer. Didn't do much in the way of cruise stuff last night, just some general house stuff. David got the suitcases aired out and the don't smell (musty or febrezy) so that worked out well. I guess tonight I should cover Drew's bed again and be sure that I have what is needed and not more than what is needed (or maybe it is too late to change me at this point).

Linda - REST, rest, rest, rest - and then take a nap! Sending pixie dust and prayers for your steady improvement. That is all we can ask for.

Not much else happening - supposed to be nice today and tomorrow. Upper 50's and no rain. It would be nice to get the leaves up but I am not sure that will happen as they are still super wet.

Have a great day - I will check in later.

Thanks to all of you who have added last minute things we need for the cruise. It is very helpful.

Thanks to those of you who helped explain the FE and SM stuff to a newbie! What fun!!

So, since I'm new, am I missing anything?

1. Get (or make) a fish extender
2. Buy or make FE gifts
2. Make fun door magnets
3. Bring books for the book exchanges
4. Oh, and start packing now

My thoughts and pixie dust are coming your way to those of you need a little extra during this time!:cheer2: Everyone else, stay healthy!

On the scrapbooker's forum here, they have a thread on dcl scrapbooking. I haven't even really thought about layouts yet. I'm still working on my autograph/ journal book. I definitely scrapbook, but I've converted to digital right now. I would love to exchange ideas after the cruise. but I've got none so far.

Scrapper here! I've done a bunch of DCL albums, but they're all different. I second going over to the scrapbooking board in Creative Community and do a search for cruise pages. There are some really talented women over there.

Cruises are pretty easy to scrap - even in advance if you want to - because you have the same topics on every cruise - At port, the boarding photo, Parties (or each one individually), shows (or each one individually), seen around the ship, a page for each port or more if you do something interesting, FOOD or each restaurant, Palo, Dessert buffet, pirate buffet, then there are all the food outlets around the pool, SPA if you do that, bingo, galley tour, towel animals, sleeping on deck, pools, basically everything! A couple of my early cruises ran to two books! lol.

Gail I had a two hour nap this afternoon. will that do? I'll find the strenght to get to quiet cove!

Yes, they are good guys - if I do say so myself.

And NO ONE PANIC! Linda is absolutely correct. Plan your work and work your plan (yeah, that comes from scouts somewhere). Prioritize and do what you say every day and you will be ready when the time comes. While I don't like coming home to a messy house - so far I seem to have lived anyway ;).
If I get packed this weekend except for that last minute stuff you just can't do until the last minute, I will be a happy girl. Good Morning, everyone!

Somehow, I MUST get off this ungodly early schedule by the time we cruise. There is absolutely NOTHING to do on ship at 4 am.

today, I have the pulmonologist, and then lunch with my lawyer / friend - whom I have turned into a Disney addict too, lol. Then home for a nap. I am thrilled to report that this morning when I tested my breathing - the 'low' number was at what the 'high' number has been for a few months. This is GOOD NEWS.

It's a good thing we're driving. I have 35 lbs of FE Stuff
They get their very own suitcase.

Oh yeah. My DH has one of those HUGE rolling dufflebags for his ski trips. I've got that sucker LOADED - two pails full of stuff for the little girls who are traveling with us on the St Croix cruise, a collapsable cooler filled with diet tonic water (not available on ship, but must be consumed for foot cramps) one end has a box of FE gifts, the other end has a box of secret mickey gifts plus glow sticks. Then there are three pairs of outgrown shorts to give to a friend. . . the scrapbook pages for the swap on St. Croix cruise. . . in short ALL stuff to either consume or give away.

Then there's a huge suitcase full of all our evening/ dinner clothes and shoes for us and the teddy bears. I'm shrinking out of most of mine and will have to use pins for this one last wearing, but then - it too, will be available to give away before I leave the ship.

Two suitcases of regular clothes for the cruise. A suitcase of clothes for WDW. An extra dufflebag for overflow.

Then I have an equally huge bag of stuff to lug to Jacksonville from the estate of my aunt to my cousin, a cooler full of hand picked apples and two boxes of "only available here" provisions for the same cousin.

Then there's the book bag - we'll be on the road a month, so we'll go through a lot of books. That won't come on the ship.

"Kitchen Box" for our stay in the villas after the cruise and for a week in the residence inns before the cruise, and picnics on the road. That won't come on the ship.

The lunch cooler with drinks and food for the road.

Dh's back pack with clothes/shaving kit for the road.

The rolling computer duffle bag - with my clothes for the road, med bag, toiletries, cpap, cables, computer, extra camera gear.

Tote bag with the trip book, binoculars, camera, maps, etc.
Pillows and a blanket.
Map/book basket with the car books in.

Is it any wonder we drive a Grand Caravan with most of the seats folded down?

Happy day, all!.

glindamood

Elderfam - ever consider mailing a box to the ship? Works great for me. All the FE stuff for both trips is gone already.

With the baggage fees - we will only have 3 suitcases and two roll aboards. Not that I am crazy about taking stuff that way but a girl has to do what a girl has to do. Funny, fuel is way down so why they continue to charge is a wonder to me.

Disney Dream - it will be exciting to watch but I won't cruise on her until she has been sailing for several months - and if she is only going to do the 3 and 4 day trips, it will be longer than that. When we went to Alaska, we sailed Princess on a new ship and they just didn't have the kinks worked out yet - and it was like the 6th or 7th sailing.

Have a grand day everyone.

Woo hoo! The Dream is unveiled today. I'll be watching the webcast this afternoon. I'm sure that we'll sail it eventually (either that or the Fantasy). But only when one of them starts doing at least 7-night cruises.

Happy day, all!.

popcorn::popcorn:: Patiently waiting to here some MORE good news. Hope you had a nice visit with your friend and got good news from the pulmonologist.

Okay, people, talk me off the ledge...:scared1::scared1:

My DH has just been told that he has to go to Sweden on a business trip Nov. 8th returning Nov. 15th. We've managed to switch it to Nov. 13th. But here's the rub - he will have to meet us in Orlando. I will need to drive to Rochester from Ottawa and fly to Orlando on my own with the 2 kidlets. I will need to cross the border from Canada with the 2 kidlets. I will need to bring all his luggage as well because he'll be travelling with his business attire....

Feeling a little panicky....I don't like last minute changes...all the things start running through my head like what if he can't make the connecting flights...what if he misses the boat....what if...what if....

Need some encouraging words - I figure you guys can relate to an Obsessive Compulsive Vacation Planner like myself!!! ARGGHHH!!

OK. TAKE A DEEP BREATH! YOU CAN DO THIS.

You are not some 20 year old any more - You are a MOM and that means you have SKILLS!

Enlist your children to help you. The big one entertains the little one. Make a list. of what needs to be done.

Allow extra time for every step.

If you need advice - you've got access to plenty of it right here.

ALL *WILL* BE WELL.

THANK YOU! THE DUST WORKED!

I am remarkably better today - still exhausted, but better. Pulmonologist did NOT say anything about not going - said take the rest of the antibiotics but not more than that for fear of developing resistance. Have another scan in 2 months to make sure it is all gone. We leave on Saturday. I AM SO GRATEFUL FOR YOUR HELP, GANG

Hey gang-

Think I stressed myself out as well. I have been under the weather the last couple of days. If I don't feel better tomorrow, I'm going to go to the doctor. DH has been out of town the last couple of days. He comes back tonight, but leaves Monday to California for 3 nights. He was gone for a week earlier in the month. Gotta crank out 60 halloween treat bags tonight for the boys. Between, birthday goody bags halloween and all their extracurriculars and being sick I have fallen a little behind with cruise stuff. I just may tell the boys this weekend about the trip so that I can incorporate their help. Can you believe I still have an uncarved pumpkin? It has been so hot anyway here if I did carve it last weekend, it would be pretty nasty by now.

So, everybody no more stressing out. It is what it is. We need healthy people on this trip.

Everyone take care.

Did a lot of that when DH was really sick before his transplant. Being the Queen of Rationalization, what worked for me was to take the attitude that this was a challenge that I was going to handle easily. I enlisted the girls help, rolled up my sleeves, and made my plans. Take your "what ifs" and make contingency plans for them, within reason, and then let them go. Check in with the skycaps at the airport so that you don't have to shlep all the luggage. If they aren't available, use a luggage cart. Grab a luggage cart or porter at the airport in Orlando to help you with your luggage. It will be OK, you can do this!

 I think we all need to get over our SuperMom syndrome (myself included). :laundy: Rather than carving our pumpkins, which is a tedious mess, we let the girls draw theirs. The pumpkins last much longer since they're not carved and it requires little effort or supervision on the parent's part. Prioritize, do the critical stuff first, and let the little stuff go. I agree, it is what it is. We are all going to have a great time on the cruise, regardless of how many magnets we have on our doors, how many matching shirts we wear, and what kind of FE gifts we give away. We'll be together doing a Disney cruise, and that's what's important. :grouphug:

Sounds like alot of us are getting sick before the cruise. My son woke up with a runny noise and a slight cough, but some juice breakfast and rest seems to be better. But now I feel feverish and had a sneeze attack. I work on the ramp with airplanes and here at lax it has been super windy. That doesn't help.
Hope everyone gets well. There's still time before the cruise to kick this cold shouldn't be a problem.:hippie: peace and relaxation starts in T-5 working days...

Now I have to figure out the legal documentation for travelling with my kidlets on my own across the border and get it done before DH leaves. JetBlue has been very helpful regarding the flights and I'm sure I'll be able to handle the rest. As a good friend said at the bus stop at lunchtime, "If anyone can handle it, you can..." so thanks again for the words of encouragement..

Sounds like your DH has been having the same schedule as me for business travel. I am just glad today was my last trip before vacation. I can't imagine one that close though. However, I bet you are doing most of the packing and that isn't something he usually does?

My dad takes the boys back and forth to Canada by himself during the summer when they stay with him in Michigan. I usually provide a notarized letter authorizing him to take the kids back and forth during a designated period, it is signed by both my DH and myself. That was the recommendation that I got off the immigration website for entry/exit of minors.

I am mailing a large flat-rate priority mail box, which is 12x12x6. This is the only thing that made sense to mail from a cost point of view, as it will only cost $10.35 to mail from Seattle to the ship, regardless of weight. I priced how much it would cost to mail a regular box that weighed the same and it was $35. At that price, it would be cheaper to pay to check another bag.

WOW! Sending stay healthy and get better vibes to EVERYONE. I hope the dog is better, the lungs are better and the sinuses are better (did I miss anything? Sorry if I did).

Handling the trip solo IS do-able. Take deep breaths and extra time and you should be good. Lists are your friend!

I always play the next-week-at-this-time game (and the last-week-at-this-time) game. However, my game is "2 weeks from now..." :cool1:

I have to decide what, if anything, I want to mail down to the ship. Hmmm.

Made it home from what could have been Drew's last soccer game. He is thinking about not playing next year. But, I also heard the coaches talking about maybe another game next week - I hope it is before Thursday if they have one. Kind of sad as I enjoy watching him play.

Well, take care everyone, rest, go to the doc if necessary and get well - we are going on a cruise really soon and you need to be well!!!

Lisa, you can do it! Remember, you are Canadian. ;) And if you can survive in that puzzle palace called Ottawa (or as we Department of National Defense employees call it - Disneyland-on-the-Rideau), you can survive anything. :lmao:

I like doing the where-will-we-be-in-two-weeks game as well: two weeks from right now, we will be at the MK taking in MVMCP. :cloud9:

35 pounds of FE stuff???? :scared1: This is one reason we opted out of the FE thing. First off, I am not that organized, and second, we are attempting to travel as light as possible this trip. We are basically packing clothes for 5 days - we can do laundry just before leaving BLT, and again mid-cruise. DS and I are doing the tux rental thing thru Cruiseline Formal to save the hassle of packing a suit. This cruise for us is all about family time and max relaxation.

We all went and got our seasonal flu shots on Saturday, and I got my H1N1 shot this afternoon (and DW and the critter-kids get theirs on Monday) so we should be good to go. Got our dining ressies made at WDW and all the pre-cruise paperwork and passports are all in one place. Probably start packing suitcases with summer stuff next week.

Somebody save me a seat in the Quiet Cove Cafe and the first coffee is on me...

Hi all-

Some of you may have seen a plea to help parents celebrating their 40th wedding anniversary on the cruise. The parents don't read the board, but their daughter is trying to plan some extra pixie dust for them. pixiedust:

Mom (MsTxMom) has come up with a fun idea! We're going to make an FE for the celebrating couple. If you have a spare gift and wouldn't mind dropping it in their bag, that would be fantastic! PM me for the stateroom if you'd like to help!

And now, back to your regularly planned packing and "two-weeks-from-right-now" games!

Michelle

PS - two weeks from right now, we'll be frantically making sure our suitcases are less than 50 pounds and trying to convince ourselves we have to go to bed since we have a 6am flight in the morning...

Sure wish I could play the 2 weeks game and smile. I'm trying hard to remember where I'll be living 2 weeks from now! So that means we WILL be moving to Mickey town soon. Hyper got the seal of approval from her boss, and will be hired perm, so the "let's fill another box" game has begun in ernest. While you wise folks are out playing w/ Mickey pre-cruise, I'll be lugging cartons of junk (and some stuff) around Florida.

We are getting down to the home stretch, and I can't wait to meet you nice people. So don't do anything stupid/courageous/dangerous etc that will make you show up in a cast. Tink's dust is some pretty powerful stuff, but it don't fix everything. Stay healthy, get healthy, whatever you got to do, 'cause we got some serious partying to do. You really don't want to be the person we all raise a glass to as we wish you were here.

Wow!!! And I thought we were a chatty group on the last thread. 8 pages since Sunday?!?!?!?! Good Lawd!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :rotfl2:

Everyone that has access to the spreadsheet should be getting an email inviting them to access the miniNav that Cynthia (Elderfam - did I get the real name right?) produced. It looks wonderful!!!! And I know that one of the other Pixie Duster ladies helped her but I can't for the life of me remember who did. I'm so sorry not to be able to give proper credit where due. Please forgive me. :worship:

I'll also be making it available as a download from our private site. As soon as the girl that hosts the site for me has a chance to get back to me and remind me what my password for FTP'ing is so I can get it up there. :rolleyes1

Denise-

Thank you so much for updating the spreadsheet. You have been such a busy person lately between househunting and the new job. Bet you can't wait to get on the ship.

Abso-freakin-lutely!!!! Y'all let me know where's the best place to get smoothies the moment we arrive? And also, do smoothies cost extra? If they do it's gonna be orange juice and my little flask!!! But if smoothies are free, it's gonna be smoothies and my little flask! Notice a pattern? :rotfl2: I figure vodka goes with everything, huh?

Anyone have any good last minute tips on cruise items to pack that will make life easier like the over the door shoe holder for the bathroom.

If you have anyone that will be required to be at a certain place at a certain time (i.e., teenagers who are expected to show up for dinner :rolleyes1) bring watches as there are like NO clocks on the ship.

Being realistic that they won't work on it at WDW or the cruise, I'm going to mail it all to Grandma.

What a great idea!!!! Wish I could send my kids off to Grandma and them get their work done. But I have my doubts that even God himself could get my eldest to take his schoolwork seriously. Arrrrrggggghhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!! But I contacted their new school yesterday and we're going to have to get transcripts from Florida Virtual and have a meeting with the principal. The youngest is easy -- we know what grade he's going in. But the eldest has been homeschooled for a couple of years and is currently taking 8th grade and 9th grade classes so we need to meet with the principal to figure out what grade to put him in.

Just one more thing we'll have to be looking at doing before the cruise. :scared1:

Just wanted to say nice games to all you Angel Fans. It was a great series and you put up a heck of a fight.
You have a great team:thumbsup2

Yeah... what he said. (you're such a good example for me xxcell!).

Well, I will officially go on record - I am an Indians fan (yeah, poor me but being a Browns fan these days is even harder) and it is too difficult for me to say anything nice about the Yankees. So, I just won't care and you all have a grand time with all of it. Someday - it will be my turn!

Well, I guess nobody's perfect, huh?

/me ducking and running!

3M hooks for lanyards. I like the lanyards hanging up so they don't tangle.

That sounds like a fantastic idea!!!! I think we'll try it too.

We leave tomorrow morning to take my son on his 2 year mission. It has been a really hard weekend for this Mom! My eyes are swollen and my heart hurts...looking forward to some "Magic" in a few weeks!

((((((((((((((((( HUGS )))))))))))))))))))))

That must be so hard. How ya holding up?

I'm having a rough day as well. Those who's been on this thread for a while may remember my poor dog having a stroke back in March. This morning we found her unresponsive again. The doc thinks it's internal (tumor or fluid buildup) so more tests or "diagnostics" as she calls it. So far this year, our vet bill could more than pay for this cruise... THEN, on my way to work, I hit the center median while making a left turn and blew two tires.

Oh no!!!!!! So sorry to hear about the issues you had on Monday. How's the puppy?

I put together my medicine bag (gallon zip lock) this weekend. Pepto, benedryl, nyquil, daycare, motrin, tylenol, tums, bandaids, robitussin and ace bandage. I hope we won't need any of it, but better to have on hand just in case.

...

And, for anyone interested in countdown information, 17, Cheshire Cat.:rotfl: For our newbies, see post 3504 of previous thread.

Yeah, I have to start putting mine together too. We didn't need any of it last time but from what I hear they charge if you need any meds on the ship... ugh! But you know, as expensive as meds can be (yes, I'm being cheap -- you wouldn't beLIEVE what they want for an electric company deposit around here) I was thinking.... I could add another sheet to the workbook and mark who's bringing what meds. Then if any of us find we need something but didn't bring it maybe we could bum some from someone that did? Or, one person could bring some immodium and someone else could bring some pepto and someone else could bring XXX and someone else could bring YYY. Would that be something y'all would be interested in? Maybe I'm just being cheap?

You may only lounge around the adult pool or on deck 4. Drink lots of fluids. NO walking around in the hot sun young lady!!

And some of them have to be nonalcoholic as long as you're sick. Some of them...... :rotfl2:

I thought it was when you went to the submarine races that the problems occured. :lmao: I always miss some of the fun! DANG!!

Yeah, I'm trying to figure out exactly how much trouble you can get in while driving. It's the parking that was always the problem when I was a kid. Maybe I just wasn't adventurous enough????

Hello! Just found this thread. DH and I will be on this cruise celebrating our 29th wedding anniversary. Looks like I missed the fun activities, but I'd be interested in knowing who is going (spreadsheet??? can't find it), and if there are any "open" times to meet with this group.

:welcome::welcome::welcome::welcome:
So I know you've already been told about the spreadsheet. We also have a "private" site (not behind a firewall but I'm careful who gets the address). I'm careful with it because we have pictures on there of our kids and ourselves. We also have games and some side discussions (Vicki, I believe it was you that practically challenged KC to a pinball match, right? ... check for my reply on the pinball thing).

And if you need anything else just let us know. The folks on this thread are incredible and everyone will gladly help in any way they can.

Snow is falling heavy in Denver-Can't wait for the sun on the cruise!

Hmmmmmmm.... no snow here <evil grin>
/me ducking and running

Quick question-Any scrapbookers on this cruise? Do you have any suggestions for pages/ideas??

I scrapped the last cruise. I ended up putting our entire trip report in the scrapbook because I just LOVED KC's writing style. If you're interested in looking over any of my pages they're at http://s268.photobucket.com/albums/jj18/hypermommy_2007/Cruise%20Scrapbook/

Taking the kids for the H1N1 shot this afternoon - figured we might as well get it now. DH is home sick but I don't think it's that specific flu...but of course, I'm not a doctor ... just a mom....

I think at this point we're going to hold off on flu shots until we get back. I'd hate any of the guys to get sick on the cruise. I just hope we're making the right decision. This parenting thing can be so difficult sometimes, eh?

By the way, anyone thinking about hitching a ride on the Disney Dream? I hear they are having a big reveal tomorrow.

Oh, I am soooooooooooo tempted by the Dream now. I saw a picture online of the new waterslide they're going to have (the AquaDuck) that has a clear tube that extends over the side of the ship! And the inside staterooms would be fun with the new virtual portholes. Bet you see Nemo swim by a time or two! And I would love to check out the new Enchanted Forest restaurant. Bet that'll be wonderful!!!

Okay, people, talk me off the ledge...:scared1::scared1:

You'll be just fine!!! Remember, if you need any help once you get to Orlando, I will be MORE THAN HAPPY to help in whatever way I can. Just let me know so I can make sure I'm there! I can entertain kids, schlep luggage, provide comic relief, whatever helps!

Going to Dr. tomm, Annie swears I have a sinus infection again. Was trying to delay Dr., cause I hate going and am a big baby:sad1

And no I am not sick cause the Yankess lost, I couldn't even watch the game:sad2:

What'd the doc say? Flying with a sinus infection would not be cool at all.

And our beloved boys won last night. I know it wasn't looking good when I went to bed at about 9. But they apparently pulled it out.

I know they'd better win.... do you know how much <stuff> we're going to have to take from our fellow darling Double Dippers if the boys slack off and <gulp> lose?

THANK YOU! THE DUST WORKED!

Excellent news!!! Glad to know you're feeling better.

Think I stressed myself out as well. I have been under the weather the last couple of days. If I don't feel better tomorrow, I'm going to go to the doctor.

Did you end up at the doc's? What was the result?

Neener, go Phillies!!

Neener back! :rotfl2:

the funny thing is my mom was a single mom with 2 girls and she did a great job of course, look how I turned out :rotfl2::rotfl2:....so I know that I can do it.

No, no, no... fingers, no...

Can not......... tease......... poor............ Lisa............about...........how.............sh e...........turned.............out.

Oh girl... you should know me better by now than to leave me an opening like that. :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

Nah, seriously you turned out great (but you know I have to tease you!). You'll do fine!!!!!

You told that to our wonderful sons too, right? I swear their last words are gonna be "hey y'all, watch this!"

Lisa, you can do it! Remember, you are Canadian. ;) And if you can survive in that puzzle palace called Ottawa (or as we Department of National Defense employees call it - Disneyland-on-the-Rideau), you can survive anything. :lmao:

Ain't that the truth!! Well, I've been up since 5:30 a.m. thinking about "stuff" - and I like my sleep so this is not normal.:rotfl::rotfl:

Michelle (mrp4352) - I'll participate in the secret FE - I've got their stateroom# 'cause I've made them some magnets.

Cynthia (Elderfam) - What an AWESOME job on the Mini-Nav!!! You have done an outstanding job!! Thanks so very much!!

Bamfield - Thanks for the document advice - we're going to put together a notarized letter - chances are they won't even ask for it but it would be one less worry.

Hypermommy - I've sent you a PM.

Have a great day everyone!!

Good Morning everybody!

I *will * need that stateroom number for fe delivery - i've made sure I have extras.

Somehow, I don't recollect seeing that website, did I? The spreadsheet yes, how did I miss the site? Or is it just the old lady brain kicking in?

Off to look at the mini nav! Happy Day all.

Oh and PIXIE DUST to those who need it - I'm not mentioning names because the two cruises have melded in my mind and I don't want y'all wondering "whozat?"

Just a heads up to everyone on deck 8. Due to a cabin change(thanks Mom!), we are in 8034, not 8538. So if you are looking for the message board, that's where it will be. The cabin number is correct in the list of cabins and on the FE map.

Now There's a plan! After all, Woobie IS my cousin, right, Woobie?
:cutie:

Sounds like a plan to me!! Now to convince the baby. She's permanently attached to me (mommy's girl). It takes a while for her to even go w/daddy sometimes.

Hypermom - smoothies DO cost more (ask my wallet from last cruise. Kids LOVED them at dinner). :rotfl: Good luck with the move.

Denise - congrats on the hire status, and good luck with the move. Hopefully you won't have any problems and everything will just fall into place.

KC - good luck with all those boxes. I can honestly say I do not envy you. Moving is such a chore.

To everyone - TGIF, although I appear to be in the office working an install, I will be done shortly and can head out for a visit to the bank (travelers checks) and the grocery store.

And - two weeks from today - I will be at Castaway Cay! We have the jet skis booked at 11:00 and I am really looking forward to that. Then we will lunch and head over to SB. Time can officailly slow down in my book - this will all be over before I know it.

Could you please take a minute to respond to the person that sent you your assignment and let us know you got your SM - even if you did that once so we have a clean slate to work from. We just want to be sure that everyone has been covered. Thanks!

Hey everyone. I know the cruise is getting close but I wanted to share an App for the iPhone that my husband created for our NEW iPhones (which I now love BTW). It is a DCL countdown timer for our DD cruise! If you are interested in checking it out please go to (it on his company's website):

http://www.zoeticinteractive.com/dc

If you like and want it for your iPhone, you are welcome to it:

Once you have it up and running on the iPhone browser, you can click on the "+" symbol on the bottom to make a home screen icon so that you can have easy access to it. It's a nifty little app that countdowns to Nov 14th down to the second :rotfl:! (Based on EST)

Wow, I've missed a lot! Bronchitis has taken me down this week, but at least I tested swine flu negative.

Seems there are others here doing the antibiotic dance - hope you are feeling better, lindababe!

The Mini-Navigators look awesome. I just printed mine. Woo-hoo!

I had hoped to have had my FE gifts shipped out by then end of the week, but that is just not going to happen. I'm flying solo here, as my better half has been in Japan and Korea all week. I always have such great timing when I get sick! I didn't even start packing yet...that was supposed to happen this week, too. :headache:

I am glad to hear that Denise is looking at permanent hire - very good news!

And to binky1 - sorry to hear that your getting to the boat adventure got more adventurous. I know that you'll be able to make it all work, though.

I hope you're feeling a LOT better. Just do what you have to do to get by, and leave the rest, without guilt. like people have been telling me - we need YOU on the boat, healthy. the FE gifts are unimportant. At least you're two weeks out, rather than one - that gives you time.

Gail, when do you guys leave?

I can't get over how great that mini-nav is. I wish two things - one that my eyes were a little bit better :3dglasses, and two - that we had hired YOU to do one for the previous cruise! LOVED the format to print into a real book. Loved the marked up maps. LOVED the logical 'celebrations' summary!!!

Isn't that mini nav the BEST? We don't have a colored printer but I wll get someone to print me a color copy for a keepsake. I will use and mark up the black & white that I have. I have 2 options when duplexing and of course, it was the second option but worked like a charm.

Linda - we leave for Nick and Cara's next Thursday, taking lasagna dinner and spending the night there and then we fly out on the 6th. We are staying at SSR for the night, renting a car on Saturday morning, stopping for beer and Pepsi and will head over to the port. I want to stop and see Shirley before we board but then we will be right there. Can't miss lunch in PC.

Hi Michelle-

I have been in contact with their daughter Patti. I have several magnets made up for them for their door. The FE is a great idea. I was going to give them a little something as well.

Well-reluctantly went to the doctor today. I have the flu, not swine flu. I had gotten the seasonal flu shot a couple of weeks ago. Ray came back last night and he has a sinus infection. We both have scripts being filled. better now than right before we go. Chris-the youngest now has a cough and runny nose.

I did manage to crank out the 58 halloween goodie bags for the classes yesterday and take them in. I had to bow out of the halloween parties at school today.

Needless to say, the painting or drawing on the pumpkin is sounding better and better. there's just no time to carve now. Their soccer jamboree is tonight and between the 2 older boys-5 games tomorrow.

The mini navs look great.

Denise congrat on the perm hire at the job.

I'm glad to hear others are recovering.

I need to go lay down again. Hopefully I can catch up some more later. Take care everyone.

The mini-navs are amazing!!! Thank you SO much elderfam and mrp!!! :worship::worship:

Where will we be 1 week from today? Today's answer - Magic Kingdom!!

Denise & KC - congrats on the permanent position. Yes, moving sucks but you sure have a nice reward coming at ya in 2 weeks.

Pixie dust for good health to all. If it comes down to resting vs doing FE gifts and such, opt for rest. We want YOU on the cruise, not your stuff. :flower3:

I'm working on the travel notebook today, getting all our paperwork in order, and taking care of all the November bills today since we're going to be gone all month.

I showed the girls pictures of the Dream last night. We all can't wait to go on the new ship. I think we'll wait until the Fantasy starts sailing in 2012 so that we can do a 7-night on the new ships. Looks like you'll find me at the re-booking center on our cruise. :thumbsup2

Hey there!

I was just sitting here prepping FE stuff (yeah, I'm finally getting around to it) and realized I never finished the graphic for the dolphin excursion. Y'all had some great suggestions as to what to change. I'd probably be able to finish it up tonight or tomorrow if you'll be kind enough to remind me what your suggestions were. Please?

Here's the graphic again as it stands now.

http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/jj18/hypermommy_2007/Dolphins.jpg

Maybe the dolphin Ds are too much? I could just change all the lettering to Disney font and move it around.

In fact that was so easy to do that I just threw it together. What do y'all think of this one?

http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/jj18/hypermommy_2007/Dolphinscopy2.jpg
Maybe it should be "dive with dolphins" instead of "do the dolphins".... maybe it's just me but that just doesn't sound right, ya know?

Anyway.... lemme know what you think of either one and I'll get it finished up and available to everyone to iron-on to a t-shirt if you want to.

Well, another week down. We leave Thursday - only 3 more work days and I will be out of here. My plan is to get packed this weekend, except for that last minute stuff that can't go in until the last minute - and I am working on paring that down as best I can too. Since we won't see our check through bags until later in the day on Friday, I can't trust them to have anything I might need as soon as we arrive so that will all have to go in the carry-ons. That can sort of be a scary thought - guess I will need my quart zip lock bag at the ready.

I am off to run errands to day - POURED most of the day yesterday and windy too. I just didn't want to do the grocery store in that. Better today so I will get that taken care of - another thing off my list! Enjoy your weekend and HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

BOO! Happy Halloween. I feel like such a scrooge. I'm so not in to it this year. Just get me on the boat already.

Baby keeps talking about the big boat, the airplane and everyone who's coming. This will get old way before it's time to go. I figured she was too little to fixate on it. Guess the Mouse has his ways.

I have to add my kudos to the mini-nav. GREAT work. Thanks!

I realize now that I could pack so much lighter if I didn't have to bring so many things-that-make-me-look-presentable (aka toiletries). Ugh. I can't imagine if I was high maintenance (DH agrees that I'm not, so no comments from the peanut gallery :rotfl:).

I had a PM request for this information on Secert Mickys so I thought I would copy it here as well - now it is part of this thread as well.
The news on Secret Mickey's has finally arrived. Sandiegosusie and I have talked (well, typed) and this is what we have come up with.

1. SM is open to adults - assignments will be made ladies to ladies and the guys to guys.

2. At least three deliveries should be made with a total $$ amount to be spent around $35.00 (that is total for all gifts).

3. Hypermommy added a tab on our group spreadsheet - if you wish to participate, please fill out a line and add anything you think helpful in additional columns. Better yet, if we have missed something, let me know and I can add a column specifically for the subject.

4. Those of you with guaranteed rooms, please let us know once you get your cabin number. Those that choose to upgrade at the port, call my cabin so that I can get the info to your SM.

5. The cutoff for participation is 10/20. That will give us time to make the connections and let everyone know who their SM is by the end of October.

6. The "reveal" will take place at our group lunch in Lumiere's on Thursday. If you can't attend, please let your SM know who you were.

Well, I think that covers it. Any questions - please let me know. I can't wait!

Well, the Teddy Bears can't carry carryons, and I need a hand free for the cane, so we have more luggage and fewer carryons! It's up to 6 bags and a box, now.

LOL @ Teddy Bears. I swear our luggage procreates over night when we're not looking.

Where will we be 1 week from today? Today's answer - Universal Studios.

Anyone else having trouble figuring out what to get for teenaged FE stuff? I've got some cutesy stuff for the kids (hope I have enough) and some stuff for the adults (although I had to scale back on my idea because quadrupling the lamination would have gotten expensive!). But I'm having the hardest time figuring out what to do with the teenagers. I thought about something like business cards with the logo and they could write their email addresses in but then I figured there might be problems with that in 2 ways. Most of them probably just put that info into their phones these days, right? And #2 I don't want to be responsible if some parent doesn't want her teen sharing that info. So now I'm still trying to figure out what to do. :scared1:

Maybe the dolphin Ds are too much? I could just change all the lettering to Disney font and move it around.

In fact that was so easy to do that I just threw it together. What do y'all think of this one?

Maybe it should be "dive with dolphins" instead of "do the dolphins".... maybe it's just me but that just doesn't sound right, ya know?

Anyway.... lemme know what you think of either one and I'll get it finished up and available to everyone to iron-on to a t-shirt if you want to.

Ladies, I printed out the MiniNav today, and it is truly a Thing of Wonder (or Magic as the case may be). Excellent work.

Spent all evening after trick-or-treating with the girls printing out maps to complete my travel notebook. I proudly showed the notebook to DH who said, "Now that's obsessive compulsive! Good morning! Hope you have a wonderful day. Are you going down 95? If so you'll be passing through SC tomorrow right? Say hello to my homestate for me!!!

Suitably excited? That's not what I'd call it. Somewhat in panic mode, actually! I had to rethink the FE stuff for adults because I just couldn't afford to get everything laminated. I may still try to figure out some way to use the other graphics I came up with because I just love how they turned out. Wonder how everyone would feel about "fridge magnet kits" where you'd have to get them laminated and put a piece of a magnet on yourselves. It's a bit cheap and hokey, I know... but the electric deposit just won't wait.

Denise, I love the kit idea. But you might look at a roll of clear contact paper. We used it last year for luggage tags. You just put your picture between two sheets and trim!

We went out with the Grandkids last night with a trial run of our pirate costumes. We had a great time. My little darlings were a cat (6 year old), a witch (4) and Stitch (2 and a half). The Stitch is type casting I tell ya!

I'm at the office, I have to get some things done so I can leave in 12 days (Jiminy Cricket says so!). Y'all have a great day!!

Good evening everyone. Two suitcases packed (except I need to wiegh them) and will do the final one Tuesday evening. I did keep several things out - hooray for me. I even thought that maybe I could get it all in just 2 checked bags but I don't think so. I guess it depends on their weight.

Nothing much else to report. DH has scouts tonight and I should try and get the vac run one last time before we go - tonight would be good since Ben and Kristie are coming for dinner tomorrow night. Three more days of work and we will be on the road.

Take care and either stay healthy or get healthy. Rest and drink plenty of liquids everyone. No stressing as that just adds to it.

Hello Everyone,
Hope you all had a great Halloween weekend!

I took some of the feedback and last minute updates and reworked the mini-nav a bit. I increased the font size so it should be easier to read, and added the room numbers that had been sent the last 48 hours.:surfweb:

I do NOT plan on making any more changes so you can feel free to print away just as soon as it's updated on-line. (Give it about 24 hours or so)

I got so much done this weekend....don't know what I'm going to do for the next week and a half!:confused3 This just might be the first trip i've never had to pull an all nighter before we left! Who knew a 2 year old could get me organized!:rotfl2:

Linda - I hope the drive today wasn't too bad. I thought about you as I went through my day thinking I would rather be packing and doing laundry than riding, riding, riding (can you tell, not my favorite activity but I would do it to get to the port if needed). I am still thinking I can do this in 2 checked bags with our two carry ons. I did send a box ahead, remember?? But, I need a way to weigh the dang things so that is my task for tomorrow and they if I find a way, they can go Tuesday to be checked.

I got the discount for the Castaway Cay Getaway Package (float/tube, snorkel equipment, bike), but the discount is available for the individual float/tube rentals, snorkel equipment rentals, and bike rentals as well.

I'm just guessing, but I think the regular 1 day rental for the Getaway Package was $32 per adult...and the 2-day price was $40 for adult...only $8 for the 2nd day!

The supervisor on the phone said that anyone could call ahead and book over the phone, or it will be available on the ship...but it won't be online. I'm not sure why, and she didn't give me an explanation...because I know it was offered online to previous Double Dip cruises.

Hey, if any of y'all plan to go to the beach before/after the cruise I wanted to let you know that you need to be aware of the rip current danger that's been going on around here. It's been on the local news for a few weeks but apparently they're really bad right now due to the current weather patterns. Two guys this weekend (separate incidents) were in waist deep water and got pulled out. One died and one almost did. They have information posted at the beach about how to get out of a rip current if you get caught (don't panic [which would be the hard part for me] and swim parallel to the shore until you get out of the current) and the news is advising that you swim in front of a life guard station. Now I'm not trying to alarm anyone, but I just thought I'd best mention it since it's been on the local news so much lately.

Oh speaking of the news, they just did the local traffic report. It's great to hear them talk about how I4 is clear all the way out to "the attractions" and knowing that means THE HAPPIEST PLACE ON EARTH IS THAT CLOSE!!!!! :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

Not having one at all would be better than having a blank piece of paper! I saw it - but it wasn't my forture. But, maybe a blank page to write on was how it was supposed to be taken. I had not thought of that in a long time.

Well, 3 days of work (2 if you don't count today) and 3 more sleeps before we head to Nick and Cara's. I will try and get my travelers checks today. Ben and Kristie are coming to dinner this evening and bringing me another suitcase in case I decide I need it. Just can't decide....

If you are up for a challenge, you can swap the paper yourself. Just practice in black and white first. I do it a lot at home when I have multiple pages to print.

That's what I did too. Worked like a charm.

Where will we be 1 week from today? Today's answer - Epcot, World Showcase doing Kim Possible missions. Tom & Becky have birthday/anniversary dinner at Shula's, girls going to Camp Dolphin.

Lots of packing completed yesterday. It's my first time using the packing cubes and I really like them. It really helps to organize everything and by rolling the clothes I can fit a lot more in the same space. I used a Pack It Flat Folder for all my collared camp shirts. Loved that too. Then it dawned on me that I forgot to leave out the shirt that I'm going to wear on Wednesday when we fly down. Doh! :rolleyes1

Mini navigators...

I just want to remind everyone that due to donations :goodvibesfrom our fellow shipmates, I have been able to print one per stateroom! They will be available when you pick up your lanyards. Hope this helps...

I plan on wearing a lime green top and sitting near the TV across from the giant Mickey ears. I have very short hair and Harry Potter eyeglasses...don't think I will be to hard to find. ( WOW, I sound like a Dork!...Maybe my daughters are right...I left "cool" back in the '80's!!)

A week from today will be a sea day for me - rest and relaxation wil be on tap.

Packing cubes - I can easily get over the weight limit without any "aids" so I don't use them. I am fearful now that one if over 50 lbs but tomorrow we shall see - PakMail will weigh them for me. If they are at least in the low 40's - I will hae saved myself $50! Gotta love that.

Well - the travelers checks are purchased. And, if I behave, nothing will go on my credit card (well, unless we book another trip that is) so I should be golden.

Take care everyone and have a nice afternoon.

Hi all-
I have a favor to ask. As some of you know, my DH and I will be renewing our vows onboard on Thurs. It will just be my DH, DS, DD and I. We will have a DCL photographer. But I was wondering if anyone could help us out and either videotape or take some extra pictures for us. It will be on Thurs (at sea day) at 4pm. It will probably be about 30 - 45 mins. I have the videocamera or camera. Your family would be welcome to join is if they would like and we could pay like $50. Is there anyone that could please help us out? We would really appreciate it. Thanks!

That's how he relaxes from the road. We have a routine - it's helped us stay married for 40 years, lol.

 I had NO idea that double sided printing was even possible! I guess it will be scissors and staples for me!

If your printer takes the paper straight through - ie loads on the back comes out the front -try this

* when you click print and the window opens where you can set the printing properties, down on the left you'll see a thing that says something like "Print whole document" . If you click that it will drop down two choices print odd pages and print even pages.

*Click print even pages. Let it print completely. Pick up the whole stack.

*DO NOT TURN IT or reorder it. Put it back in the paper tray blank side up. click print odd pages. And it will come out two sided. Then simply fold in the middle and it should be properly ordered.

We did the Kim Possible in July. It really is alot of fun! We didn't get to do all the countries, so we're hoping to do the rest this next trip. Have fun! United Kingdom was the most fun!

Being such an organized packer to begin with, I was skeptical about whether packing cubes would be worth it. After packing them, I think that they are worth it. I like how they compartmentalize things in your suitcase and they do make packing easier. I have 3 cubes that are each filled with 1 complete outfit for me and the girls (DH was not interested in using them, so his loss) and I will put 1 in each of our 3 suitcases. That way, if one suitcase is lost, that unfortunate person will have 2 other outfits in the other suitcases to tide them over until the wandering suitcase shows up. The rest of the cubes I just filled with each person's clothing. They are all stacked up in the dining room now, so I don't have to contend with lots of open suitcases scattered all over the floor for a few days before we leave. I've been using the skinny ones for all our electronic paraphernalia and other miscellaneous stuff that tends to get shoved helter-skelter into the suitcases and carryons.

We're excited about doing the Kim Possible missions. The girls love doing these kind of scavenger hunts.

Linda, glad the first leg of trip went well. Will you make it to Orlando tomorrow?

Hi, I'm sure you are all very excited for your cruise in a little over a week. I'm on the cruise right before you so I know how you feel...we leave in a few days!

Anyway, someone on the cruise before me (on it right now), has generously offered to leave their beach toys for me. They don't want to have to bring them back.

I am posting here to do the same for you.

I have no idea what exactly the toys are, or any guarantee that I will actually get them. But hey, its worth a try.

Please PM me with your cabin number and the ages of your children. First PM wins If it all works out the items will either be waiting for you in your cabin or at guest services.

All I ask is
1 - that you have young children
2 - that you do the same and offer them to someone on the next cruise after you.

Thanks!
Paula

Someone mentioned it earlier, and it's a great idea (to prevent everybody from bringing everything). While it's probably a good idea for each family to have bandaids, pepto, aloe, and seasickness meds, not everybody needs to travel with a portable drug store. DW will bring a large assortment of common remedies, and if we could again organize one or two rooms per deck for this, maybe there would be more room in the suitcases of others for souvenirs.

Whatda ya think?

I just sent KC a request to print out the mini-nav for us. Wonder if he'll see this and know that this is the way I'd like them to be printed. Hmmmmmm...... :rotfl2:

I plan on wearing a lime green top and sitting near the TV across from the giant Mickey ears. I have very short hair and Harry Potter eyeglasses...don't think I will be to hard to find. ( WOW, I sound like a Dork!...Maybe my daughters are right...I left "cool" back in the '80's!!)

Nah, don't think of it that way. I'm looking at my dorkdom in a different manner. Yes, my guys think I'm a dork too, although the words they use are quite different.... "fail" figures prominently in it these days but that'll change soon I'm sure because I'm starting to understand them... just like pwnage and getting pwned (poned) is now gone. But the way I'm looking at it, I'm rapidly approaching the Red Hat age... where I can throw on my red hat and not care what the rest of the world thinks. :rotfl2:

You guys are all so sweet, I got tears in my eyes. :goodvibes :goodvibes Thank you!!!

And some of us didn't even get a chance to volunteer. But I'm more than willing to take pics for you. I could take them with my camera and email 'em to you if you want.

Just turned in the rental application and got it approved yesterday. I knew it was going to be approved but it was still a great feeling when the agent called and told me that it would be. I'll be signing a lease on Wednesday and we move in next week. I won't have internet at home for the first couple of weeks (which is okay because one of those weeks I won't even be home! :rotfl2:). I've been looking around at i'net/tv options and I REALLY want this FiOS thing that Verizon offers. From what I was reading about it, it's like having Twitter and Facebook right on your tv and you can chat with friends while you watch tv. Sounds soooooo cool! But alas, it's not available yet where I am. I have to find out when it'll be available, though. Might be worth waiting for.

Other than that, we started a cruise pile on the dining room table this weekend. Of course, as KC says, the hardest challenge right now is to make sure we don't pack away in boxes something that should go in a suitcase instead. Arrrrrrrrrggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!! I am SOOOOOOOOOOOO looking forward to Serenity Bay!!! :scared1::eek::scared1::eek:

Not surprised there - moving at the best of times is totally stressful - but with you being in another town and KC being in total control of the packing must be even worse!

I remember well - if I packed every box, I knew where things were. The man could lug and tote all he wanted to, but what went *IN* the boxes was mine all mine.

Now that half the contents of the car have been downloaded at my cousin's house, we're prepared to rearrange the contents into "cruise" and "No cruise" piles. D'ya think I can safely leave the fleece liner to my windbreaker in the car?

Today, a little sight seeing and a visit to the nice big local scrapbook store!!! I'm so excited.

Happy day, all!

I wouldn't... how much can it weigh and how much room can it take up? Like my mom always told me, "better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it". Wonder if she knew she was prepping me to "be prepared" (since I have 2 sons that have been in Scouting). :rotfl2:

Hey, one other thing, y'all.... and please understand that I am not knocking Cynthia in any way shape or form. The work she did to get the mini-navs together is just simply amazing!!!! But I've been notified by at least one person that their cabin number is wrong. Heck... only one cabin number wrong? Y'all would hate to have seen all the mistakes I would make!!!! Anyway, I'd like to ask everyone to doublecheck their information in the mini-nav and let us know on here if there's any changes we need to ink into our versions. And Cynthia, again, I'm not knocking your work at all. What you pulled off was simply amazing!!!!

In fact, I'd like to take this moment to invite everyone to offer up a drink of the day to all our pixie dusters. What these women have taken their own time to do to make our time on the Magic even more magical is just wonderful! I'd like to invite everyone to buy a drink of the day for Gail (glindamood), Becky (Mousemom11), Michelle (MRP4532), Susie (SanDiegoSusie), and Cynthia (Elderfam). Well-Virginia I was going to volunteer, but alot of our wonderful cruisers have already stepped up to the plate. I'm here if you still need me.

My 2 oldest boys loved the Kim Possible mission. Now they want to go to Epcot all the time. My 5 yr old I think I was still too young or he was just too hot and didn't want to do it anymore.

Someone mentioned it earlier, and it's a great idea (to prevent everybody from bringing everything). I'm feeling human again.:yay::yay: No pumpkin got carved this year, but the boys didnt seem to mind. NO cruise stuff got accomplished this weekend. I felt so bad that we didn't get to trick or treat that long because of the way I was feeling, that I did tell the boys about the cruise. I had put a letter and boarding passes in halloween money envelopes along with their other goodies. They were so happy that they are going on the Mickey boat (and not have school for 2 weeks.)

Judy, glad to hear that you are feeling better! And I loved your announcement. I'll bet the boys are so excited. :thumbsup2

Where will we be 1 week from today? Today's answer - Wet-n-Wild

I just finished our SW boarding check-in for tomorrow's flights. We're golden - got all "A" boarding passes.

DD 9 was so excited last night that she had to go sleep on the couch because her head hurt if slept on the pillow in her room. Don't ask - her brand of logic defies analysis.

Busy, busy day today. Got a few things to finish at work and then get a massage to work out all the kinks caused by packing. Home for more packing. Pick up the girls at school and then swing by the office to mail their homework to Grandma's house. Home to finish packing and hit the hay early. Flight out is at 6 am tomorrow, car service will be here at 4 am, which means I need to roll out of bed around 2 am. :scared1: :scared1: :scared1: Only for Disney would I do that!!

We were left off the FE list on the mini-nav. We are photocjr in rooms 6612-6614. I put up the info on the spreedsheet a month or two ago. I hope we didn't cause any problems for everyone, I really only wanted my DS3 Jacob to get a few things in his FE. This was our first attempt at the FE so I hope everyone likes our little gifts.

No problem. I just changed the FE Delivery plan spreadsheet and printed it out again.

You trusted your stuff to Canada Post???? :scared1::scared1::scared1:

BTW, Canadians here (room 8502), but you can keep the Mountie and bring me a large double-double instead. :lmao::lmao::lmao:

Yeah, yeah, I know but since it was going to cost 2 x as much to ship by UPS or Fedex or even Purolator, I figured I would bite the bullet (so to speak) and put my faith in CP.....if they don't show, they'll be paying for the envelopes when I send all the FE gifts to everyone's home addresses.....

I will not be bringing along any hot Mounties - unless he wants to carry my luggage and bring me DODs - oh wait, that's what my DH is for :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:..... and no, claiming to be related to a Canadian does not count - you must prove that maple syrup runs thru your veins and you actually know what a double-double is....

photocjr - no worries, I caught it on the spreadsheet so Jacob will be surprised....

A big :grouphug: to all our Pixie Dusters - including you Hypermommy - you have all made the waiting for this cruise go by super quick!!! Can't wait to meet you all!!

Cheers,
Lisa

We were left off the FE list on the mini-nav. We are photocjr in rooms 6612-6614. I put up the info on the spreedsheet a month or two ago. I hope we didn't cause any problems for everyone, I really only wanted my DS3 Jacob to get a few things in his FE. This was our first attempt at the FE so I hope everyone likes our little gifts.
We are on that cheat sheet that got sent around by email just in the wrong room numbers.

Thanks and sorry if we caused any problems.:hippie:

No stressing. I based it on glindamood's map and the google spreadsheet.

No prob. It's updated. I expect that there will be more changes between now and our dismeet on Sat :)

Happy Tuesday afternoon! No worries on the cabin changes - if anyone else has them, please post in red so that we all catch them. And then I will need someone to tell me at the DIS meet what changed as after we leave SSR, there will be no internet for me.

We had some of that fluffy white stuff this morning - on my car anyway. The ground is still too warm for it to stick (must be that blanket of leaves covering it) but it was there. The sky still looks like it could snow but hopefully nothing will happen.

Take care - stay healthy and I will check back later.

OK guys, am I crazy? Let me explain first...

We have sailed in 6060 twice before. Loved the location...proximity to the midship elevator/stairs, midship both vertically and horizontally, and MOST OF ALL only one floor up from the kids clubs. Our daughter had sign-in/out privileges on our cruises, and she would page us and go directly to our room that was just up the stairs. We knew she could get there on her own without getting lost because it was so close. Also, several in the family are prone to motion sickness, and this location seems to have worked for us.

So for this cruise, "our" cabin wasn't available. We chose one right across the hall, 6558...same basic location on opposite side of the ship. Our son will have sign in/out privileges this time, and we feel comfortable with him getting to this cabin on his own.

So why am I crazy? Well this morning when I went to check on my reservation at the DCL site, there was a different stateroom listed...8560. I checked my Passporter and realized that this was an upgrade to a category 4, so I should be excited, right? But I'm concerned about the location right under the pools (the only stateroom review on the DIS says they wouldn't stay there again because of the noise from above), and also because it's down a long hallway 3 floors up from the kids clubs and might be harder for my son to find on his own. Motion sickness is also a concern because it's on a higher deck. I know the stateroom is a little bigger, but I'm just not sure of the location for us.

Am I crazy to NOT want this particular upgrade?

I would love a cat 4 upgrade...

My grandparents are from Canada. But my mom and I were born here in Los Angeles. Does that count. 6612-6614

We were very particular about our rooms too and I totally understand (ours may not be the best, but we are close to the same spot as the last cruise, so we know what to expect). Maybe you could make a little map for your son to keep in his lanyard? Most of all though, enjoy the upgrade!! :woohoo:It will probably be just fine. You could bring ear plugs just in case too. :thumbsup2

Well, we were in 8586 once (courtesy of Grandma Jane) and, while there was some noise in the mornings, after that first morning, I never heard it - or any other sounds. As far as your son finding his way - that will be up to you as you know him best. Maybe walk with him the first few times and see how he does/feels about it.

And, congrats on the upgrade. I keep checking our cabin and we are still in our cat. 11. The best thing is that I don't have to pack and move between cruises though so I will be happy - after all, I am going on a cruise with my DIS friends and the Mickster - I couldn't feel luckier.

And on another note - went to weigh my luggage today and one bag is 38 and the other is 36 so that leaves me enough space for what is left to pack and I just saved $50.00! Gotta love that!

I forgot to thank everyone who tried to help me print out the MiniNav. Unfortunately, I am beyond help  !!!! I still ended up using the scissors and staples route. Huge thanks to everyone who helped plan out our little adventure. Can't wait to meet you all. Just wish I had even a tiny bit of the talent you all possess. Happy packing!!!!

I think I read somewhere that there are bikes with training wheels at CC, right? I'm going crazy. I'm like thinking over every detail. I can't wait for next friday to come, then I can relax....

I think I saw a picture on someone's trip report (nenners1 ??) that they have bikes with training wheels. So, I think you will be OK on that front. :thumbsup2

I am UPSing 1 box tomorrow...think we can fit it all in! 1 week from tomorrow we leave. This weekend will be the rest of the packing. The girls carry-ons are done with the exception of Sarah's homework. Found a steal on GB games. Twin pack: Cinderella and Ariel (which will fit in the DS) for $10 at Best Buy!

Anyone else flown SW across the country? Not sure what to pack for snacks...

This weekend will be fun finishing it all! Good luck to everyone traveling in the next few days...Linda, glad you made it safe. What's the forecast in Florida for next week?
