View Full Version : Non-DVC Children taking up our spots!

How dare they! Non-DVC children pay similar money for admission and same price to stay at a DVC resort? Unbelievable!

I saw a bunch of auctions on Ebay where even non-DVC children are allowed to accompany their parents to a DVC resort.

Can you believe that non-DVC children can go to Disney World during Christmas too?! The audacity! The parks and resorts are crowded as it is, we don't need non-DVC children taking up OUR chilred's precious spots.

If non-DVC children keeps coming to Disney World, Disney will make a rule that bans all children or adjust the point schedule so that it costs more to visit during school holidays.

What do you think we should do about this?

Call me stupid (watch it!) but I don't understand this this topic? Is this a joke or what?

Beachangel, you are not stupid. This is only a joke.

I thought that that's what some posters like to do here? Make up stuff about other people and try to complain to Disney about it. Maybe I'm imagining things. LOL

ttsui01: I think I know what you are trying to do but I think your humor is going to fall on deaf ears right now in this forum. People are pretty uptight right now. Don't be surprised if you get some sarcastic comments.

Children are like phonecalls - they always come in pairs.

Don't worry one_cat. I think I can handle any comments going my way. I also know that my brand of humor is a bit eccentric for most people, but I'm sure there'll be others who "get" it. As long as I've convinced one person how ridiculous the whole renting "problem" was, I'll be happy.

Who are your profiling as non-DVC child?
For example, our nephew and a family friend accompanied us on our last trip, are they non-DVC children?

I got it!! Made me laugh as soon as I started reading it, and still will smile at the thought of it. Great sense of humor!! I luv it!! ;)

ttsui01...I feel your pain, brother! Something definitely MUST be done about those non-DVC kids. They are ruining our vacations. You know, I can spot one a mile away too. They have a certain...umm....odor to them, don't you agree? It's really quite unappealing.

Unfortunately, I don't think complaining is going to do us any good. You know, eBay will allow ANYONE to buy and sell. And complaining to Disney will fall on deaf Mickey ears. They are way too busy, anyway, thinking of new and exciting ways to tear down old attractions that we love, for new ones. Nope, I think we have to come up with some proposals which we draw up and present to them, thus doing most of the work. I'm sure they'll have them implemented quickly as they, like us, would like to keep the non-DVC riffraff to a minimum.

I've been kicking around a couple ideas...what do you think? ->

New policy allowing only DVC-kids to get the curbside seats for parades. Imagineers can easily develop some sort of sensors which they embed in the curbs....ones that pick up on that odor, perhaps. Any non-authorized fanny receives a non-lethal electric shock.

Special Fast Pass-like privileges for our kids, where they can cut in front of any non-DVC kid in line (attraction, food service, store, transportation), with the option of taking whatever meal or souvenir they are buying.

Similar to what you said, drastically marking up ticket prices, hotel rates etc for families with non-DVC children. Although I'd take it a little further in tripling the cost of sunblock, child size rain ponchos, diapers, baby aspirin and other necessities, when they are intended for use by non-DVC kids.

A policy where non-DVC kids can only buy reject Mickey ears that the CM's screwed up while embroidering our kids names. (misspells, non-centered etc.)

A special bin of 3D glasses set aside for nonDVC-kids at MuppetVision 3D, It's Tough to be a Bug and Honey I Shrunk the Audience. These will consist of glasses that our kids break while impatiently sitting through the pre-show or ones where they smear the lenses with sticky fingerprints resulting in something more like ...2 and a half D experience.

Look these over and see what else you can come up with. I'm sure this approach is better than simply complaining, as that seems to offend people, as I've been reading. We can present it first at the next member association meeting.

I think electro-cuffs should do the job of keeping those kids out ;)

Electro-cuffs....good idea. They could slap some blinking LED's on them and sell them to those non-DVC kids at night during the Electric Parade. I suppose they could give them away, but might as well make a buck or two....their money's green, ain't it? Proceeds could be funneled into a Free Length of Stay Passes for DVC Members Fund. Somethings gotta be done about us DVC old timers no longer getting the free passes!

Apparently not funny to some!! I got banished from the Trip Reports board for a while, until I chatted with one of the WebMasters. (Alex, a cool guy) It seems there are a number of folks on here with zero sense of humor. Granted my posts WERE a bit over-the-top. Maybe we'll have to start a new forum for those who like things-Disney, but don't go around with the proverbial hair across their..ummm....rectum.

If you get a chance, go to the Trip Reports section, read the well written posts by joedisney (a friend of mine). Then read some of the overflowingly gushy, warm and fuzzy responses he was getting. They're so sweet, I got a cavity just by reading them. I mean, this was just crying out for some negative humor!

LOL. Agreed! I don't mind the outpour of joy and happiness, but sometimes it gets to the point of a cult response when you post something negative or differ in your opinion. The only thing I can say to those people is "RELAX!"

I think that instead of trying to ban non-DVC children from Our Resorts, we should make use of them. We could post them at all of the entrances to the buildings to make sure that no one takes extra towels from the pool back to their room, thus raising dues(!!!) for all of Us.

With a little creativity and Disney Magic, I think we can turn these intruders into an asset, instead of the drain on resources and impediment to getting Our desired reservations that they are now.

Another good point. I think we can use both approaches. Smaller non-DVC kids should be given the electro-cuffs, since they would not be much use to us. We could allow the older ones into the resort for towel security, as well as other menial chores in and around the World. I was thinking a system to balance out the lack of Fast Pass on some of the rides in the parks. For example, we all know the line for the Dumbo ride can get obscenely long and it doesn't have Fast Pass. We could implement a system where a pool of these older non-DVC children could be corralled into an area next to the ride. DVC members could select one of them to stand in line for the hour or so, holding our place. Also, getting wet on Splash Mountain is fun. Getting the seat of your pants soaked through to your underwear, before the ride even starts because some clown stomped his wet sneaker on the seat, is not. Use those non-DVC kids as seat wipers, I say. And how many times have we had to truck our tired butts over to Olivia's at OKW or down to ESPN at the BWV for a snack, after you've returned "home" from a long day of Park hopping? Those non-DVC kids have legs...use them as delivery persons....and the kicker is, we won't even have to tip them!!

I'm sorry if I offend the posters, but something about this thread makes me uncomfortable. I understood the original tongue-in-cheek humor, but fear it has taken a turn for the worse. Maybe if you were to 'joke' about abusing the parents rather than the children... Naw, either way, this isn't funny IN MY OPINION.

(And, I'm already relaxed, so no need to tell me to do so. Thanks anyways.)

Just curious if I'm the only one who feels this way.... (And again, I am not trying to offend those of you who find this funny.... Really!)

Okay, perhaps I'm one of those people with 'hair across their rectum" as you so elequoently put it, but having worked with abused children at one point, I can not find any humor in this, no matter what the intent. You are correct in that you should consider finding another forum where humor like this is more appreciated. Based on the complaints I'm getting, it's not welcome here, and after reading the thread, I'm forced to agree. I'm locking this thread because it serves no real purpose, and in my opinion, is a lousy waste of bandwidth.
