Last year many of us on the gardening thread planted a coneflower in memory of Sylvia, who we lost to cancer :( We have had a very harsh spring in Chicago and the plant was very slow in its blooming process.

I had quite a few dis people at my home a week or so ago for a meet. I kept hoping the flower would bloom so I could show it to all the disers who were here and share the story about it. It did not make it in time. Exactly two days after the meet the flower bloomed! It is wonderful and I have it surrounded with bright marigolds :) After thinking about this I think having all those disers sharing and enjoying each other here caused it to bloom :) JMHO of course :D

I think so also. :)

I also planted a plant in memory of Sylvia, mine was a white astilbe. Although I never meet Sylvia I think of her daily as I pass this plant, sometimes lightly running my fingers over the plant as I pass by.

This past week I did some work in the garden where the astilbe grows. The plant now has a dry river bed running along side and a small bridge next to it.
