We are going back to Disney in 2011. I am pregnant with a little girl for just a few more weeks. She will just be too young to do autographs when we take her for the first time. It is killing me to not go back for that long! DS and I just keep trying to find reasons to go back sooner. :rotfl: Anyway, I thought it would be cute to make an autograph quilt! I read about it in the All Ears newsletter and it just stuck with me. But I haven't sewn in quite some time and am just now getting back into it. I have forgotten almost everything! What sort of fabric should I get to take with us? I figure if I start collecting it now it won't seem as expensive when we go. Plus I will have the stroller to haul it around in! I plan to cut the fabric in squares and put those in a hoop or on a clipboard for them to sign on. I will get permanent fabric pens right before the trip. After I get home I will piece it all together and quilt it. Does this sound reasonable? Any suggestions?

I am planning on making one for my DGD. I bought some white Kona cotton fabric to use for the siggies. It has a nice weight and texture to it.
Someone posted somewhere on this site not to use fabric pens as they are hard for the characters to write with so they suggested Sharpies.

Happy sewing and signature collecting. :goodvibes

Thanks for the advice about the Sharpies. Maybe I could just sew over the, sort of embroider over, the autographs. Think that would work?

Embroidering over the autographs sounds like a great idea. I would suggest that you use the sharpie rub-a-dub laundry marker, or if you stick with regular sharpies only use black. The colors are nice, but I have found some fade away and the black stays.
