Got back about 2 weeks ago and thought some people might enjoy these pictures! We were in a 1 bedroom in Kidani. It was room 7763 and it was categorized as a standard view, but I thought we had a great view!!! It was quite a hike to the lobby, but I didn't mind because I felt lucky to have a slight savannah view. :goodvibes We had a car as well so we could park in Pumbaa and take the elevator right up to our room and avoid the long walk. We absolutely fell in love with Kidani and can't wait to go back! Only complaint...the gym is way too small. Each time I went all the machines were already taken. :headache:
Taken from the balcony:

This guy made me laugh. He seemed to always be hiding in there. Maybe because it was so hot!!

Oops, I found one more view picture!
My family made endless fun of me for how excited I got about this. I just thought it was really cool! I mean, how often do you get to sit on a balcony and look at that?! It's Expedition Everest and the tree of life looking to the right off our balcony.

I didn't get a picture of the sleeper chair and the sleep sofa both opened, but when they were open the corners definitely touched and there was very little walking space. A very angsty 18 year old was sleeping in the fold out chair and I was given specific instructions not to touch her bed so I don't have a picture of the chair folded up either. I was trying to keep the peace! She did say it was very comfortable.

Awesome...this is the pic I want to save to share with those who say AKV is "so far removed from everything"....and "out in the boondocks" and other similar comments I've heard etc. I've actually heard some comments to the effect of it's "like staying offsite" :confused3 . Anyway, thanks for sharing and glad u had a nice vacation.

Looks like you had an awesome view, not only able to see savannah but also the theme park icons! That view is way better than my Jambo Savannah View in April, all we saw was one antelope and an ostrich once in a while! Of course that was the period of time when they were gradually reintroducing the animals to Sunset Savannah.

Feel free to share it anytime! Like staying offsite???!!! That's crazy. In what offsite hotel do I get to have a Lion King themed bathroom!
Thanks for all the comments. I guess we really lucked out with that view! The only thing I can think is that our flight didn't land until after midnight and it was close to 2am when we checked in. Maybe all the standard views had already been given out and this is what they had left! There were definitely no giraffes or any other animals like that visible from our balcony so maybe that's why it wasn't savannah view? :confused3 All we saw were okapi, those grey animals, and an occasional big black bird or 2. Either way, we felt very lucky! :goodvibes

I have a standard 1 bedroom booked now...maybe I'll put in a request for that room #. Exactly how far of a hike was it to the lobby and Jambo? My mom will be in a wheelchair, so pushing her is exhausting at times, but this would be a great surprise if we actually were able to see animals...might be worth it.

Great pics! We're planning on booking AKV for our 5 year anniversary in 2011. (We've already booked a MK view at BLT for 2010)

So you had a "standard view" room and it was actually a Savanna view? I think they may have given you that one as a gift. Standard view is supposed to be pool or parking lot at Kidani. How great that you got to see the Okapi from your room!:thumbsup2

Thanks for the great pics! It was so exciting seeing the two Okapi(s). And I agree with you that it's exciting that you could see Expedition Everest and the Tree of Life in the distance. We bring our binoculars so we can see stuff like that.
I have to agree with dianeschlicht that you may have gotten an upgrade (wow) to a savanna view room.

That is one amazing view! I love EE, ToL & all the animals.
What were you far from the lobby? I'm thinking you were almost all the way down near the north end of the resort.

Wow - what a great view. :goodvibes And thanks for sharing the pics of the 1 Bedroom Villa because that's what we would be booking when we finally get to stay at AKV. :cutie:

Thank you for sharing such wonderful pictures of Kidani. I would have been surprised with that view knowing I had booked a standard. Looks like you had a little bit of pixie dust at 2AM.

We definitely booked a standard view because we had exactly the right amount of points for a standard...no extra! I just pulled out the confirmation letter because I was starting to second guess myself. It too says standard view! I really think it was the whole that's what they had left at 2am. Maybe they would have had a real standard view open in the morning, but at that point that's all they had. :confused3 The CM checking us in didn't mention anything about an upgrade, she just said "let me get you to a room as quickly as possible...you all look tired!" The walk to the lobby wasn't horrible or anything and certainly not any kind of a problem. Just noticeable, kwim? Looking at the map it looks like we were almost at the very end of the building, but not quite.
It was always my understanding that when you book using points there really are no upgrades so I'm not quite sure what happened! We'll call it pixie dust and consider ourselves blessed! :wizard: :woohoo:

Thanks for posting these pictures. We're staying there in December and I'd been wondering how I could babyproof the room a bit but I didn't know what kind of knobs were on the doors and cabinets. Now I know what to bring.:goodvibes

Thank you so much for the photos I really enjoyed them. I have few questions, maybe you could help? Are the safes a fairly good size or is there very limited space? Also what floor were you on you seemed so close to the animals. I heard that if you are on the 2nd floor you can hear noise from the underground parking...did you have this trouble? Actually how was the room for noise in general? Is it fairly sound proof? Thank you and congrats on the wonderful view. :)

We were on the third floor. I never heard any noise from the garage or our neighbors or anything really. You can definitely hear the people in the master bedroom talking from out on the sleep sofa so it's not sound proof between those 2 doors. I really can't comment on the safe as we didn't use it. Maybe someone else knows.
