Drive from DLR to US?

How long does it take to drive from DLR to US? We are planning a trip for the end of June 2010, and will probably stay at the Disneyland hotel.

We would actually like to spend several days in the Hollywood/LA area (a day at US, a couple of days seeing other sights, and possibly seeing a show in LA). Does it make more sense to stay in a LA/Hollywood hotel for a few nights, then head to DLR for a few nights? I like the idea of not having to switch hotels, but don't want to spend hours driving in the car either.

We have never been to Southern CA, so would appreciate any advice!:)

It depends on when you go. It can be anywhere from about 45 minutes to 2 hours or more depending on traffic.

I am also planning a trip for next summer using the City pass. Is US north of DL? We are only going to spend one day at US after we visit DL and then head south to San Diego. Should we change hotels to go to US?

Universal in north of Disneyland.

Disneyland to Universal is about 30 miles.
Disneyland to San Diego is anout 100 miles.
San Diego to Universal is about 130 miles.
