Take a look at these 2 burgers...

One of these burgers was purchased in 1996 and has been kept at room temperature since then. The other is fresh. Can you tell wich is wich?

There have been a lot of e-coli stories lately. One in the NYT, and also on Larry King. After I read the NYT article I started to seriously rethink my consumption of ground beef. Ick.

The one on the left is the old one?? :eek: Wow, I was 100% convinced it was the other one. It's got more appealing color to it.

I'm hungry.

OMG that's disgusting. I hate fast food chains, but that is still grosser than hell.

How come the bread didn't mold? Don't tell me. I don't want to know.

Methinks it's preservatives. Have you ever noticed some of the slightly pricier loaves of bread in grocery stores have a 2nd inner wrapper around the loaf underneath the outer wrapper? It's because those breads tend to not have any preservatives in them and need a little extra protection so they don't get moldy. I'm guessing the Mickey-Dee's buns have a ridiculous amount of preservatives. :rolleyes:

Mmmmmmmmm........preservatiiiiiiiiiiiives. popcorn::

Here's an experiment: Buy a loaf of a "regular" national brand white bread, and then buy a loaf of a "premium" brand white bread with an inner wrapper. You'll probably notice the texture of the "regular" bread seems a bit more synthetic. (That's the only word I can think of to describe it.) And if you really feel adventurous, leave one slice of each out on a plate and see which one deteriorates first. :thumbsup2

SOOO ironic, I'm seriously debating on going vegetarian. I've done it for a month or so..but because I live w/ a teenager, its' hard. I'm reading Jane Velez-Mitchell's new book " i want" and besides being an AWESOME book on recovery from several addictions, she talks about being a vegan. After looking at that gross meat, I think you just helped me! ;)

I'd make a great middle child. I'm good at fading into the background for months at a time and then doing things people don't expect me to do. :rolleyes:

MM, my wife is a middle. ::yes::

I think you'd make a great little brother. THERE. You've been adopted! :eek: You should be very worried now. Older sisters are wicked bossy. Prepare yourself.

I'm sorry to hear that things are still not really good with you. :( It's good that you are feeling better though. Your eyes? Are those issues all taken care of now, at least as far as you can tell?

No way! I don't do "youngest kid" well. :snooty: Someone will have to teach me not to play with matches.

Thank you. Things aren't anywhere near as bad as they were. My eye started acting up again last week, but it seems to have subsided for the time being. (I have no idea what's going on with it. :confused3)

There used to be an old prank/joke... something about a lit match, blown out then immediately touched to... the punch line was 'EEEEK A BALD HEADED MOUSE!!' Yeah, well. I never claimed to be a joke teller.

Where's the kid brother? Hey, don't you need to go to the store for ice cream or something? :teeth: As the elder brother Rob will give you the money...
