We are moving our Cruise from May to This Cruise!

It will be myself, my Mom, and my Grandma!

My mom and I did the 4 night 2 weeks ago, and had a blast. This will be my grandma's 1st cruise ever!!!

We are hoping to get the same room we had booked for May in a Cat 6 :)

We are booked for this cruise -- first time ever cruisers!

It will be me (Big Mama), DH, DD14, DD10, and DD4 (that's how old they will be when we go).

Also coming are my mom (Nana) and dad (Papa) and sister, Aunt T.

I can't get enough of the cruise boards. We are so excited!

Nana, Papa and Aunt T are in a cat 11, and we are in a cat 4.

Welcome!!!!

I'm glad there are others to share in the excitement for the cruise!!!

Right now its just My mom and I my Grandma is still deciding LOL. But in the last 2 weeks we have come into about $600 for our cruise that we didn't have to shell out "Free" money whoohooo!

If you have questions about this cruise let me know we did the same itinerary just this December and will answer any questions you have. Also I can share my photos if you all would like it?

Ok So I figure I can post a few photos a week to keep us tied over until we cruise!

Since we can't cruise until we get through the ears I figure I'll start with a photo of that!

This will be our first cruise and our first disney cruise. It will be me, my husband, 6 year old daughter, 13yo son, and our other daughter will have her sweet sixteen birthday onboard! We are going to celebrate her big day onboard and also our 16th wedding anniversary. We cannot wait to go!!! We want to know all the ins and outs so we can have the magical dream vacation we are dreaming of.

As far as where I'm From --Originally CT but I moved to Central Florida (within 50 minutes of Port Canaveral and about 12 mins from Epcot ;) ) in Sept 2008!

I understand your excitement for your first cruise and to have a birthday and anniversary on board is fantastic!!!!

What seating is everyone? We are late dining!

Normangirls
02-10-2010, 04:52 PM
We are definitely going with the early seating. I know a lot of people said it really cuts into your day, having to be ready and at dinner by 5:45 (or thereabouts), but I am one mean mama -- I make my kids keep to bedtimes, even on vacation! If I let them stay up too late, it can get very ugle very quickly.

Since there are eight of us going, does anyone know how we will be seated? I assume we'll all be together, at a table for eight?

aacmt5
02-11-2010, 05:35 PM
I found the answer to the question about table settings, they have 4, 6, 8, 10 top tables. You may or may not be seated with other people. You can request to have your own table, you may or may not get it.

I am starting to find my way around these threads to answer some of my questions!:rotfl:

Yes, but what if I want to request a table AWAY from my family? :)

omalley1118
02-22-2010, 06:42 PM
Do you have to sign up for dining??? We got this cruise free when we joined DVC last year. I have not heard one thing from them since we signed up for the cruise.

I agree with "mean mama". My kids are still little at 6 and 8, and I firmly believe in keeping bedtimes.

Our First Cruise it was a table for 6 and we were 3 separate families, Second Cruise it was a table of 8 but only 6 of us showed up. Both Cruises we were a party of 2.

OK, I asked for and got early dining!!!! Now, what table size???? Personally, I enjoy meeting others. Of course, that can back-fire!! My DH is a bit on the shy side and would probably prefer a table for 4, as we are a family of 4...

I cannot wait until this cruise!!!!! It's going to be so much fun. My next door neighbor has been 3 times, so she's a font of info.

We will be staying at Bay Lake Towers from 10-30 until the day of the cruise. Is anyone else going to the Parks first???

OMalley1118

LivingtheWDWdream
02-28-2010, 10:25 PM
Omalley- you can request a table to yourselves if you wish but i'd gather you'd be at a table for either 6 or 8. They try to put people with similar family sizes or kids ages etc but if you get onboard you could ask to change if you find that its not a good fit.

Also I live 1 exit away from WDW so if there were a Pre Cruise Meet I would be up for one!

We finally told the girls (DD13, DD9, and DD4) about the trip, and watched the planning DVD last night.

I really stressed that a lot that happens on a cruise depends on the weather. So if we didn't get to go to CC (heaven forbids a thousand times) they will be disappointed but not completely taken by surprise.

But they are so so so excited!

DH keeps acting like he doesn't want to go (boats/ships really do make him nervous), so they kept pointing out things they thought he'd like -- menu items, the sports bar, etc. He would say things like, "Oh, I don't like steak anymore, so I'm not going" and "I've decided sports are boring so I don't want to go to a sports bar." What a dork.

So, I'm starting my trip-planning binder. I think I'll go to Hobby Lobby tonight to but some nautical-themed paper!

Hi folks. Just found this thread, we booked about two weeks ago and this will be our second cruise. Staying in a cat 6 with a veranda which was a must for us. Our first cruise was with DVC points in a cat 4 but we did cash with Dreams Unlimited this time. We prefer the early dining so we get into the show then have time after to walk the decks. The DW and I sat at a 6 person table with two other couples the whole cruise. The other couples had done cruises before and gave us many great tips. We were disappointed with Nassau and probably won't leave the ship this time when in that port. We are really looking forward to Castaway Cay and all the improvements.

Welcome!!!! Glad to have others joining us!

We are changing to Main Dining my Travel Agent is working on that today for us, we decided to give it a try see how we like it compared to Second Seating.

This way we can at least get spots for the pirate party since Second Seating cuts it so close there were no seats available by the time we made it to deck 9 and 10.

Focusing on the cruise now is taking my mind off the fact that I was let go from my job on thursday :( and now have to try and find a job again. But I think it was a blessing in disguise as the work environment was really toxic to my stress levels so maybe this was a good thing.

Please PM Me if you would like to do the Fish Extender Exchange!

Please Include Stateroom, and number of people in the stateroom!

Now How it was done on my last cruise was that each person was assigned a Delievery Day and either AM or PM for Delivery. Only you will know what day/time your set for that way its a surprise for everyone as to when things arrive!

Is that ok or any suggestions as to how we want to do it?

Could we just do it at our convenience? On our cruise, everyone delivered whenever they wanted to. My DD and I had to break it up into 2 separate outings. There were quite a few to deliver. I'll PM ya our stateroom info....

Hi everyone, my family and I are going on this cruise also... We are very excited, we have had it planned for over a year now, and it is approaching quicker than we ever expected...

This will be me and my Husbands 3rd Disney Cruise. This will only be the second one for my twin Daughters that will almost be 3 at time of Cruise. (Me and my hubby went for our Honeymoon)

We have invited all of my extended family also, so my parents and two sisters with their family will also be coming. (They are all first time Cruisers)

I would like to be able to use this Forum as a place to get to know other people that will be on the same cruise. And hopefully get some great information that will help the cruise more enjoyable.

I am interested in a FE, but had a question or two..

How many people normally join in on a FE? just want to know how many gifts you think we might need to bring?

Have you ever had it where you just join the kids in the FE and not the adults. I was thinking of talking to my sister about joining, but I am sure she won't be interested, but I might be able to get her DD (10) and DD (7) to do it.

How in the world do you find them on Ebay, I did a basic search, and got nothing, maybe I need your "person" who can make them.

let me know..........

Welcome to the Group!

Right now its just 2 families (mine and another) doing the Fish Extender Exchange. on my last cruise we had maybe 20 it depends on how many want to join in to do it? But we did 2 gifts (we were close to xmas) so 1 was a Holiday themed Rubber Duck and the other was an Inflatable Beach Ball with a snowman inside that we found on Oriental trading. We gave 1 of each item to each stateroom who participated. Some folks made things, some bought things, some had gift bags, some had just 1 item. Its a personal decision on what you want to give.

Now in terms of the YES it sounds like that is at Disney World and since its during our cruise not sure how one would be able to do both? Sounds like a lot of fun though!

Normangirls
07-02-2010, 08:56 AM
The DISer who is arranging the YES program hasn't locked in the dates yet, and there is a chance they will have to go ahead with it while we are on the cruise, but they are still considering doing it on the 12th or 13th.

Welcome to the DIS!!!!!!

I live in Orlando, its torture knowing I could be at the port in 45 minutes but they won't let me on the ship! Trust me I asked if they felt giving the last time to let a homesick DCL lover on the ship for free and well their reaction was more like this ... :lmao::lmao::lmao: So I guess I'll have to wait until November :scared: seems so far yet so close.

Fish Extender Exchanges- If you want to participate just send me a PM with your stateroom, how many adults/children so I can add you to the list.

What you do, its a personal decision as to what you give and a surprise as to what you get in return. You hang on your Fish on the outside of your room, either a Fish Extender Pocket banner or a bag, or something to have your gifts put into. There is a DIS'er who sells them on Ebay but I made mine it was pretty easy but if you aren't crafty or don't want to spend an arm and a leg. I saw people using everything from reusable bags that you use from grocery shops or gift bags.

Then once it gets closer to the cruise and we have an idea of how many will actually participate and after final payment dates so we know most won't be canceling I will send everyone a copy of the spreadsheet which will tell you what staterooms are participating, number of kids/adults so you can make sure you have enough gifts.

I put adults/kids on the spreadsheet as on past cruises some people liked to put 1 item for adults, 1 for kids, so want to make sure if someone chooses to do that they are able to plan.

On our last cruise we did 2 gifts per room, the first was an inflatable beach ball with a snowman on the inside, and a holiday themed rubber duck it was close to the holidays so it fit the time of year perfectly. Nothing was overly expensive this is just meant to be a fun way to interact with fellow cruisers.

One DIS'er in the gift shop got non paper magnetic post cards and wrote a nice little message to each cruiser and did a small goody bag with stickers, and notepads all disney themed.

So it can be Disney Related, cruise related, not related to anything disney or cruises, its up to your imagination.

Then you can deliver your gifts at your leisure whenever you feel up to it. The only night I would recommend not doing is the last night of the cruise, maybe early in the day as later everyone is busy busy getting ready for dinner packing etc but its all up to your preference.

I hope I explained it right/enough :)

Does anyone know the best time to get to the Port? I know they don't open the doors till like 1pm or something, but how long does it take to check in etc... and is it better to give yourself some extra time to hang out and look around?

LivingtheWDWdream

We got there for 10am and they weren't open for check in yet so we were ushered to a waiting area and led over when they were ready for us around 10:30 am. We were able to check in with very little lines and were able to get chairs to wait and sit in and take photos of the terminal then around Noon they opened the gangway for us to cross onto the Wonder and onto our home for the next 4 nights.

Next time we will probably arrive around 11am. so we won't have to wait as long in the terminal but we want to be on and done with lunch by 1pm to make sure we have time to go arrange our spa/dining reservations as we like to wait until we board for the spa stuff to see what specials are being run.

That is so funny, We love Disney and a cruise is the perfect thing for little kids. (Sleep where you eat and play) unlike Disney where you have to travel like 30 minutes to get back to your room to take a nap etc... But of course we are doing Disney after the Cruise too..

We also took a cruise for our Honeymoon so it is also the perfect place for adults.. Kinda awesome how they can make it the perfect place for you, no matter what age you are :rotfl:

Just booked this cruise and we are in for the FE! My friend and I are taking a break from work and husbands to have a girls trip. I will PM the needed info over.

This will by my 5th Disney Cruise and Jessica's first! So we are celebrating my birthday while on board and her just being on board one of the best cruise ships ever. (The other being the Magic!)

See you all soon!

Tracy (me) and Jessica

Today I went to the craft store . . . ok 3 of them and gathered up some stuff for making the fish extender and magnets. I am so excited. How I wish we were sailing next week. Nov 7th will have to do! At least I will get to celebrate my Birthday on the ship! I think on our sea day! How relaxing.

Not sure if we are making a new FE but we may just use the same one we had last cruise.

How exciting to be celebrating your birthday on board! Happy birthday to you!

As much time as it takes me to make the FE I wish I could use our last one. I personalized the last one with all our names so it won't work. I figured for this one though I will just make it a girly one and then in the future if I go on more girls only cruises I will be set.

Since I do not sew well I make mine all with iron on adhesive tape and it is slow going, but it keeps me busy doing something for the trip so that is fun!

Ok Folks, final payment for 75 days out is coming up around the 20th I believe of August can I just say how excited i am that its getting so close!

Fish extender List....Please if your interested in joining please send me a PM with your stateroom, number of adults, number of children by the 24th of August so that I can get the list out to those particpating I know of some who are handmaking gifts and I know it takes time to do that.

How I will work the FE list... Last day to get info is Aug 24th, I will finalize the list and I will send out via PM the list along with my email address so that if it doesn't work on your end you can email me and I can forward it that way. If after the 24th we have late joiners to the cruise or wanting to join I will PRIVATE Message all those who were on the original list to see if any objections to any one being added and if no objections we can add others this way we can accommodate as many as possible but also get moving with our gifts! This is how my FE exchange was run last year (by a different dis'er).

I am hoping to go down to Port Canveral on Thursday to see the Wonder pull out to sea dependant on weather I miss her so much!

We are getting ready to make our payment. We could have made reservations on the 90 day mark but we rather not part with the money so soon LOL.....since we aren't fussy about Palo or spa reservations if we get something we do if not oh well. We can try when we board the ship did that last time and ended up at Palo's twice and brunch!

We are go with the flow and since the only stop we are getting off at is Castaway Cay for half a day we will be just doing our own thing.

I have sent everyone a PM if you did not receive one from me I already have your email address if you did get one from me if you could get me a form of contact for you soon as I am almost at the deadline for the FE list being sent out.

We are making our Final Payment on Friday whoohoo!

We have 36 people total particpating in the FE with 13 of those being kids! Going to be a LOT of fun for sure!

Also I just want to confirm that we DO NOT want to assign delivery days and want to just deliver whenever Correct?

We are PAID IN FULL :yay::yay::yay::yay::yay: Our funds got deposited into our account earlier then we thought and we had our TA pay off the balance today!!!! 20 minutes later we were booked for Palo Brunch, Palo Dinner, and 2 spa treatments. Got everything we hoped to get and at pretty decent times.

I hope those who have to wait until 75 day mark to make reservations are just as lucky. I was doubtful on ours as we could have booked at the 90 day mark but our funds weren't open until this week to us.

Now to just sit not so patiently for Nov 7th to get here!

We lucked out on our first cruise it was a 7 night so we had more chances to see everything so we got hooked on Palo's and then on our cruise on the Wonder in 2009 they really spoiled us! We didn't have any Palo reservations (booked cruise 3 weeks out) as none were left got onboard, booked 1st night and waitlisted for the next night. We were able to go twice!! Brunch had been completely booked and they squeezed us in! We were taken well care of by Michael from the Philipines and by Peitro and we are hoping to see them this cruise if they haven't been moved to the Dream (possible Michael has been on the Magic and Wonder's opening team for training of new staff) to thank them again for making that last cruise so WONDERful.

This trip we are doing dinner the last night, and brunch on the sea day. We will waitlist again for 1 more dinner since the main dining rooms are ok for us but we just get more out of Palo. If we don't get Palo again for dinner that is ok.

OK OK when Disney sent me my email about it being time to book things I changed my mind! I decided that since my husband and I are celebrating our anniversary we should plan at least one special meal alone so I booked us Palo for brunch. It seems like alot of good things have been posted about Palo's brunch and we wont miss dinner in the dining rooms with the rest of the family. I very excited now!

I'd be up for a meet! On past Cruises we had DISmeets on board just before the Safety Drill a quick hello chat a while then we headed up to get our lifevests and it was a nice way to start the cruise. Usually around 2:45-3:00 time frame to meet up.

Being in Orlando I would say we could meet up before or after but I am going to school full time and I will have to get all my work done before we leave because when we get back I get off the ship go home change and head out to my biology class (fun way to get back from a cruise right LOL) so I am not sure how I'll be fixed time wise on the 6th. So Onboard would be better for me.

Our Palo brunch is at 10 am too!

We didnt book any excursions, I am thinking of Ardastra Gardens in Nassau but think we will just take a cab there and back. It will be our oldest's 16 birthday so we will see what she wants to do, I know she will want to stop in the Hard Rock Cafe in Nassau and get a charm for her bracelet!

On Castaway Cay we are planning on snorkeling, but i think we are going to bring our own snorkle gear, If not I am sure it wont be a problem just walking up and renting, right?

My mom is making FE for us, and I am in charge of the FE gifts. The kids are excited to be helping come up with ideas for gifts.

We just cant wait to go.

I am afraid of fish I am not planning on going in but I would think they'd have equipment available if you don't bring yours.

We are having a hard time deciding what to do for the FE too many great options. We'll see what we end up with!

I can't wait for Brunch! and we changed our dinner to Nassau night instead of the last night so that we can have the meals spaced out.

There is a HardRock Cafe in Nassau? my sister was just asking if they had one of those in Downtown Disney she could go to.. she will be excited to know there is one in Nassau.

Last time we went to Castaway Cay, our shore excursions got cancelled so we just went up to the rental place and rented snorkle gear, it was 25 bucks and they said they never run out, so I am sure you can do the same.

Can't wait

YAY!!!! We decided to use the one from last year to save on costs.

I started back to school today talked to my professor as I'll end up missing 2 classes due to the cruise and I'll now miss 1 class and make up 1 class in her other class she was awesome about it!

Now just need 1 more professor to not be cranky about it if there is a test that night I'll have to hope they drop the lowest score and take a 0. yuck!

But since my priorities messed up anyways I'll take the 0 and have a Konk Kooler instead! LOL

Sorry about them getting stricter, college professors are usually pretty easy going at my school but the class I have to make up is an interactive language course for Sign Language so if I don't make it up I will be really messed up since my major is Sign Language Interpretation so I'm just glad she will let me make up what I miss.

Fish Extender - FE there are many threads in the Cruise forum about them but the general premise is you hang something on the decorative fish outside your stateroom that has pockets or a bag of some sort whatever your preference. Those who sign up for a FE exchange gets a list of the staterooms and number of people participating. Those who participate go around and drop little gifts off to each stateroom as a way to interact with those who are sailing along with you. Example of gifts I got on our last cruise: Rubber Duckies, Bubbles, Bookmarks, notepads, disney post cards, candy from places that are special to where the person was from, ornaments, beach balls. Its just fun things that brighten a day. Little bits of Magic. We held sign ups and the list has been sent out but if anyone wants to join I'll have to ask those who signed up to see if its a possibility to add more as some were making gifts for the exchange some were buying things and have to make sure its not impossible to add anyone. So If your interested Please send me a PM and I will ask the group if its possible to add on now.

Glad your able to go on the Cruise and in terms of a Meet on our last cruise we met just before the Safety Drill as most were on board by then, we then had just enough time to get to our rooms to get our life vests and get to our muster stations.

If we would like to set up a meet I'd prefer the first day as I don't know what our plans will end up working out the other days as we are last minute see what feels right people.

Yeah I think about it constantly but I have to focus on school, this semester's courses are really intense for learning and If I don't pay attention I'll miss a lot and will have to repeat courses again! So you all will have to be extra excited for me ;)

I have been thinking about the Meet on Board Idea:

How about DIS Meeting at the Promenade Lounge around 2:15-2:30 for say 20 minutes that will give us enough time to chit chat and take photos if wanted and then when its time for the Safety drill we can then head on out to do that and the Sailaway party. Most people are on board by then and this way you have time to check out your room, and you have time to get ready for sailaway, safety party, and early dining :)

Let me know what everyone thinks!

The Width is only 8 inches but we made our pockets deeper to make up for it so that there was plenty of room for things to be put in them. but 8 inches is as wide as the wall where the fish is located can handle.

We are so excited...We get to start our Cruise Vacation a day early! We were able to get a room at the Country Inn & Suites for Saturday night. So we will go early check in drop our bags then go spend some time by the Canal watching the Magic sail out then have a nice dinner at Rusty's or Grill's!

It's really getting closer!

Good for you! We are also flying in on Saturday and staying at SSR. The countdown is on and it is not going fast enough!:cool1:

We only have to drive but glad you get to fly in a day early and enjoy a nice evening at SSR and Disney! We stayed in 2007 at SSR as part of a Guest Recovery Stay (really really horrible experience at the Poly but Disney made it up to us) and we LOVED SSR. We were in Congress Park the walkway to DTD was right there, the view was really nice and it was quiet :)

Yeah definitely not going fast enough. I am battling a cold right now, better now then closer to the cruise that is for sure! I am getting bombarded at school with work and frankly all I want to do is curl up on a lounge chair, listen to the waves crash on the beach and sip a konk Kooler on Serenity Bay is that too much to ask? LOL

hi ho hi ho its off to school I go...

Amy

Count us in! :woohoo:

I'm So excited I could BURST just BURST!!!!!

One of my BFF's is my TA she has booked many trips and cruises for us and she specializes in Disney. Knows most of the agents on a first name basis and well she was able to get the Florida Resident Rates that just came out today applied to our cruise WHOOHOO!!! We saved $518 (just the two of us cruising) and we keep the same room and there is just over a month until we get onboard! Today is AWESOME!

Helps me forget how stressful school has been in an instant, and how crummy I have felt all week with a cold! I just saved $$$$ so its all goooood!

Just had to share my excitement.

LOL and I don't mind this I have really nothing else to Plan for this cruise so it gives me something to plan plus I LOVE to use excel and to organize so I in my Type A personality made it so you have it in order top to bottom from highest deck to lowest deck number and in order from Port Forward to Port Aft then Starboard Forward to Starboard Aft so that you can go along in order :D Learned hard way after last cruise from running 1 end to the other 18 times and up and down all decks 12 times.

in 44 days I can probably color cordinate it LOL....aren't you glad I have school to keep me busy now?

Hi
Can any experienced cruisers tell us the difference between booking the port or starboard side of the ship? We were allocated the starboard side by Disney reservations. Any thoughts? :confused3

LivingtheWDWdream
09-29-2010, 09:20 PM
We love starboard, have sailed on that side twice so far and have always enjoyed the views from there. This cruise the location where we wanted our room they only had Port Side left so we will see how that compares.

But you should enjoy being on the Right side of the ship (starboard-right) a lot!

We are staying onboard the ship, we may take the scooter we are renting down to get my mom's and I's passport stamped and buy a few souvinears but won't stay on the island very long.

I was looking at some link that was posted here on the DIS that tells you what ships will be in port the same day you are. We are VERY lucky we aren't on the cruise after ours. Nassau will have 17,000 people in port compared to about 4,000 on our cruise date.

Only two ships in Nassau ours and a Carnival Ship.

10-06-2010, 05:55 PM
That is good to know Amy about the other ships. Definitely will make anytime on land more enjoyable knowing that it is less crowded than it will be the following week! Ditto that for us - we just aren't interested in doing any excursions or spending time in Nassau. We probably feel that way because its our first cruise and we're just excited to stay on the ship.

The last few months have been sheer crap at work, but fortunately evertything that is going on has a deadline of November 1st, so I know that: (1) I will be done before vacation, and (2) I will need a vacation!

DH talked to our girls' Principals this week about taking them out of school. We've done this every year, but DD14 is in high school now and I was a bit concerned (but I was also adamant that regardless, we were going to take our vacation). But it went really well, no problems, so that's one more thing taken care of.

Now to start packing...

So the funeral and wake went well, we will miss her for sure but we are getting through it.

We are packing for the cruise each day we pull out more things we think we need, then we will go through it all and take out half of it before we even put it all in the suitcases. I can't believe how slow time seems to be taking but I know once we hit teens then single digits time is going to fly by!

My father he lives 45 mins from us, got a temporary job Thursday night overnight! It was a one night job, it was unloading the Disney Magic after it arrived in port from its Dry Dock. They took off everything that they had removed, but wanted to keep as their property I guess. He said they had large cargo boxes on the top deck that they had to remove by a crane!!!

I was completely jealous but then I remember that we can rub it in his face that we are on the cruise in about 22 days!!! LOL So we got the better deal. A little funny ha ha moment, he put his lunch down on what was at the time an empty forklift, while he was talking to us, and he didn't notice someone get in it. They drove off with his lunch bag! ha ha....he got it back but he had to chase the guy down!

How is everyone else doing on preparations for the cruise?

You are inspiring me to get it in gear. I spent the morning getting suitcases out and ready, going over my (numerous!) checklists, and now I'm headed to WalMart for new socks for everyone  !

I need to sort things by time-of-use: one small suitcase is just for toiletries, one suitcase for 11/6 at CIS, cruise carry-ons, cruise checked luggage, and then WDW luggage (we're at the World for eight days after the cruise). It's a challenge even for someone a little OCD like me.

I'm trying to decide how much to put in carry-ons versus in checked luggage. I know to put anything we need the afternoon of 11/7 (meds, swimsuits, sunscreen, etc.) in our carry-on, as well as bottles of water (and any other liquids;)). Am I missing anything?

Hi all! We just booked this cruise while on the Wonder!;)

Just wanted to say "HI" before heading back to read and catch up!

We are Lori and Rick. We moved from New Orleans to Orlando earlier this year.

Off to read, but just wondering is there a meet and is there a FE exchange? I know we're late to the thread but would love to participate if there is. If not, then that's ok too- we'll just be happy to be back on the boat again!

Ok, off to read and then head up for Palo brunch!:thumbsup2

I moved to Orlando in 2008 from CT and love it but with my major may end up back in CT due to the job opportunities I can find there LOL!!

For those who are going to be at Disney before the cruise I hope you all have a Magical time! I have classes that I am doubling up on to make up for the classes I am missing during the cruise so unfortunately I can't jump into the parks the week before or the days after the cruise :(

But if anyone is going to stay in Port Canaveral the night before if you want to have dinner or meet up let us know we are staying at the Country Inn and Suites and doing dinner at Rusty's on the canal and would love to have company!

1 suitcase is already full, got our dress shoes bought yesterday, all our incidentals are bought and packed now just have to wait until closer to the cruise to wash and pack the clothes we are currently using but want to bring. Also got our swim shoes for Castaway Cay.

We went to the Prime outlets yesterday to the Character Warehouse since it was close to the easy spirit outlet and boy did we find 2 great DCL prints! My bedroom is done in DCL decor and these will make great additions!

http://iamgrumpy.smugmug.com/photos/1060667963_vFRTN-M.jpgThis one was $10.99 and is already matted just have to get a frame for it.

http://iamgrumpy.smugmug.com/photos/1060668089_5r5QN-M.jpgThis one was $11.99 but it is 2ft by 3 ft and I'll have to get it matted and framed or at least just framed.

Both were sold originally for over $30 when they were onboard.

Just found this thread.
This is our first Disney cruise.
What do most people wear on the dress up night? We are at Disney 6 days before hand and this time of year have learned to bring warm clothes too. Hoping a shirt and tie for hubby would be dressy enough. Suit cases are getting full. lol.

On dressy night, a shirt slacks and tie should be more then enough. Its more like "sunday best" not formal formal but just higher then Casual.

Called DCL today (in all honesty also called yesterday and the day before :lmao::lmao:) this time though I remembered to ask about what Movies will be showing!!

Of course they have to say subject to change but in most likelyhood these will be shown:

Toy Story 3 in 3D
Oceans
Sorcerer's Apprentice
Step Up In 3D
You Again
Secretariat

I'm not sure what will be the movie shown in the Walt Disney Theater for the night that has no stage show but i'm hoping for either Toy story 3 or Secretariat. I have no interest in Sorcerer's Apprentice or Step up in 3D.

Thought you might care to know :) 13 days!!!

Anyone planning to rebook for another cruise while onboard?

We are hoping to book a 7 night on the Fantasy the sailing after my 30th Birthday in May :) Its a repeat itinerary for us but it will give us 3 whole sea days to explore the ship, plus we will only be getting off the ship to do some shopping so most likely have half a day of exploring it as well on port days!

Whoooohooooooooooo! LOL

We went on this cruise last November too and hadn't planned on another so soon as this but when we added points on to our DVC we got this cruise for free. What kind of specials should/would we expect if we were to re-book?

LivingtheWDWdream
10-26-2010, 12:31 PM
Well since they changed the deposit to 20% down, onboard they are only requiring you put 10% down as a deposit, you also get 10% off and based on your CC level you get an OBC.

We want to book the May 19th 7 night and 20% would end up being $600+ for a deposit if we book now on land. If we wait until we are on board its only $300 if not less since we will get 10% off the price which if I calculated it correctly would bring it down to under $3K for a verandah. So the deposit may just be under $300. Plus we get an Onboard credit from DCL, and I will email my confirmation to my TA whose agency is giving an additional OBC until 11/9 so if I email her on the 8th I get that OBC as well!!

Plus if our plans change we can change the date of the cruise and still have the 10% discount applied but would have to pay the difference of deposit if the cost of the cruise is higher then what we had booked. (still only 10% though) When you pay in full that is when the other 10% would be paid.

So we have been planning this cruise for 2 years now, and so we have had plenty of time to think of what to bring what we need etc.. but now that it is getting down to "last minute" I keep thinking I am forgetting something..

So I wanted to ask others what they are packing that is not your normal every day stuff like clothing, fish extender stuff etc.

Example: we decided to bring a few "GLOW" things for the kids at night so we didn't have to buy it there...

LivingtheWDWdream

We bring an over the door shoe rack so that we can put all our bathroom necessities in it and free up the counter space. We also bring a power strip to plug all our chargers in since we have 3 alone just for the cameras, plus the laptop, cellphone and other items that need a plug. Since there is very few outlets in the stateroom.

We found at walmart a cheap basic alarm clock that is no bigger then a deck of cards it lights up so we can use it for the alarm as well as a night light.

Traveling with 2 DS's and a DH I am bringing a small air freshener this time, sunblock is a must, since I need to drink bottled water I am bringing some of those single serve powders that you add to them. Call me crazy but I also bring a great beach read to sit on deck and read....:dance3:

Had to go back to Orlando Prime Outlets to exchange my mom's new shoes for the next size so 1 less thing to do but we have so much to do and so little time to do it.

Oh and the *fix* before the cruise where something always needs repair, replacing, or something similar...my car's battery to the tune of $150 stupid ford's and their expensive repairs. Saturday it goes in we are fingers crossed that it lasts that long. eek!

I printed out a sign for my mom's ecv that we rented for the cruise so that noone tries to drive off with it!

I have to work on her Halloween outfit for her WORK tonight, as well as her Halloween treats (mini carmel apples) but I should be working on the last part of the FE gifts I have which is what I can't do onboard because I need scissors and well I doubt those will make it onboard! I'll have to work on the last of the FE stuff Sunday.

Saturday we are doing our Pre-Cruise Pampering pedicure's and manicures for both of us. Buy 1 get 1 free :D Love new spa specials!

I hope everyone has a great weekend and we are sooooooo excited and sooooooo Ready for the cruise!

Lori- Its a new spa called Aisha Day Spa I believe its over in Hunter's Creek near Publix off John Young and Town Center Blvd.

They had a giant sign out a few weeks ago stating get a pedicure and they will give you a manicure for free. On the website it said new clients get 10% off so either way we will save money.

Most of the models project Tomas as a strengthening Cat 1 to Cat 3 coming into Haiti on Thursday night to Friday morning. That puts it far enough west that the cruise should be fine. Unfortunately it will bring more misery to Haiti.:grouphug:

Good idea about official packing day. No school here today either so sounds like a good plan. Question for anyone who can answer. Usually we go right to the port and the cruise line handles all of our luggage. We are staying at SSR Saturday night do we take our luggage directly to our cabin when we board or how does that work? Thanks everyone:dance3::dance3::dance3: 5 more days!! :cool1::cool1::cool1:

If you are driving yourself to the port what we did last year was we went and dropped the bags off with the luggage handlers, and I went in and started the check in process. My mother then went and parked the car as she was driving. She then met me in the terminal.

We are taking the shuttle from CI&S so when they drop us off we will check our bags in with Luggage Services and then head on in to the terminal. The bags either way will be dropped off by our stateroom before 5 or 6pm.

If you are taking the Disney transportation I believe you just bring it down to the bell services and it gets taken from there by DCL but I haven't taken the DCL transfers before so I am not 100% sure how that works.

May want to search the Cruise Main Forum and see if that has been asked before and what to expect.

Thanks for letting me know the time zone!

Packing is underway and I have another question, do they have irons in the room or should we pack one?

LivingtheWDWdream
11-02-2010, 05:09 PM
I don't remember seeing one but let me check not in the rooms themselves but they do have them for use in the Laundry rooms (no charge) and they also have ironing boards in the laundry rooms as well.

Laundry rooms are located on Decks 2, 6, and 7. Across from rooms: 2096, 6588, and 7590.

From what I have read and been told irons and steamers are prohibited for safety reasons in the staterooms. So they have the Irons in the Laundry room for you to use.

Also you can have your items dry cleaned, and pressed through Disney but they charge for that Valet Service.

Oooh, a question I know the answer to!

You cannot bring an iron on board, and they do not provide them in the cabins (all for safety reasons). There is an iron in the laundry room. Or I think you can have things sent out to be pressed.

Well, I got some not so great news this weekend... This cruise was for my husband's return from deployment and due to unforseen circumstances they are now delayed several days (they were supposed to get home tomorrow and even the commander told us it was ok to book this cruise)... So we were a little let down because we thought we'd have to cancel completely... A member of our party talked to a super nice DCL manager about the situation and he was kind enough to switch us to the week after since it was a military thing and I had documentation. (Although, I'm sure that's not the norm) I'm sad we won't be cruising with you all, but I hope you have an amazing time! :goodvibes
