Since there have been recent threads that confusingly make it seem that taking pictures is more important than buying gear, I think it's time to have a gear greed thread.
What photography related stuff do you want for Christmas?
I'm hoping that Santa brings a Canon 85mm f/1.8 lens.

Canon 10-20 wide angle please.

I'll actually be getting my Christmas present a bit early (about Thanksgiving). I'm getting the Nikon D3000 with both the 18-55 mm VR lens and the 55-200 mm VR lens.
This will be my introduction into DSLR's.
Hopefully in the future I'll have the need / ability to move onto something stronger, but this seems like a great camera to start with (as well as getting back into photography in general).
Only about 5 weeks left!

Some items can't wait for Christmas (like a cable release for our G11).
For Christmas a Canon 55-250 would be nice to continue adding to my lightweight kit. If the elves actually produce a Canon 15-85 by then it might also be a nice present (for DW). She also wants a 10-22. And precious minerals from the Earth...
Santa wears a brown suit and drives a big brown truck. ;) I don't write letters to him, I just type in 16 digits and month/year.

An Oly E3 or E30. I've been on Santa's nice list for most of the year but those may be a stretch at this time.

I'm trying to decide between the Canon 24-105 f/4 L IS or the 24 - 70 f/2.8 L....hard decisions!

A D3000 and a carbon fiber tripod
I really want a Rolleiflex 2.8F- I've been good but not holding my breath for much from Santa this year. :rolleyes1

I'm hoping for the Nikon 80-200 f/2.8, but I know that's not going to happen. So, based on some photos I've been editing----some calibration software for my computer. :thumbsup2
Sigma 70-200mm f/2.8 HSM and 1.4x TC... been telling my wife all year that's all I want but it's still a lot of $$$ now that we have little ones and the lens it replaces will only cover 1/5 the cost... so I'm not sure it'll happen.

I don't expect Santa to bring any photography gear this year for Christmas. I would love a nice G series Canon and a waterproof case for our honeymoon, but my hopes aren't high.
My next purchase will likely be a 70-200 f/2.8, but that's probably a year or so away from now. Too many other big (necessary) purchases to be made in the interim.

For your upcoming wedding, are you registered at B&H? :)

At some point, seems like almost all Canon owners face that decision. Good luck. Both are great lenses.

What do I want, or what am I realistically going to get?
Want: Canon 70-200mm, probably the f/2.8 but maybe f/4
Getting: the goose-egg
Well, I'm currently facing redundancy at the end of January... but if I can get anything sorted out before then (or maybe even just "good vibes") then I'll be hoping Santa might bring a Canon 5D Mk II

I have tried to be good this year! ;)
If Santa is reading I would like a K-7, a Pentax 16-45mm f/4 or maybe even a Bigma!
Also, if Santa could deliver a few weeks early, we will be in the world from December 6th to 12th!
Might as well dream big!!!:thumbsup2

Well, Santa came early when he brought my 24-70 2.8 and my 80-200 2.8, but if the elves are working overtime this year, I would be thrilled with a D700

I hope the economy gets better so business will get better and then I can get a D700!

I feel that I have been extra good this year and would love to have the Canon 35mm f/1.4L and/or a Lensbaby for Christmas. HOWEVER, given my equipment spends this year, I'd consider myself very fortunate to get a replacement lens cap.

Well Santa is helping me swap my Sony kit for a Canon, so here's my xmas list...
T1i body
18-200 IS
Sigma 30mm f/1.4 HSM
85mm f/1.8 USM
With all this I think I'll be squared away for my Disney trip in January! =)

So would it be frowned upon to skip the photo gear and ask for a down payment and go ahead to plan a new Disney trip next year????? :rolleyes1
I figure once Santa's involved, there's no changing of minds allowed, even if it IS refundable........

Ditto!! But who knows if that's going to happen. I'll probably ask for money towards my fund for that lens- part of which I'm using to rent both in the spring so I can decide!
Tokina 11-16 was originally on the list but now it's looking like I'll be buying that one as a present to myself ;)
Next year the list may consist of a 40D or 50D.

I'll add to my list.
Gitzo GT5541LS Tripod
Sachtler FSB-6 Fluid Head
Canon 24mm TSE lens
Canon 100-400mm lens
Canon 400mm f/2.8 lens
I haven't been that good this year, so I don't expect anything other than the Canon 85mm f/1.8 lens mentioned in my original post. I hoping to get more of the other items this spring when bonus time (hopefully) roles around. Well, I can't imagine that I'll get the 400m f/2.8 ($7,000!), but I have a decent shot at the others.

I want of these (http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/800622963-USE/Canon_2527A001_Super_Telephoto_1200mm_f_5_6L.html) too, just because. I'm not sure how often I'd use a 36 pound lens, but it would be nice to have just in case. It would certainly to the pressure off of getting a spot up close for Wishes.

Hey, let me know when they have a buy one get one free sale!! I can't swing the 120k, but 60 would be no problem! :lmao:

Wow!
After seeing that I guess the one question that comes to mind is:
Should I buy a new house, or a new lens? :rotfl:

I'll play. Santa reads my Amazon wish list which is full of goodies......
Tokina 35mm f2.8
Tokina 10-17mm Fisheye
Tamron 28-75mm f2.8
I'd be willing to bet that at least ONE of these will appear under my tree. DH, err, Santa is pretty giving around Christmas-time.
Last Christmas I got the 50D, there's nowhere for me to go but glass now :)!

Here's a lucky guy that B&H picked to field test that lens: http://www.video.bhphotovideo.com/?skin=oneclip&autoplay=true&fr_story=FRdamp354531
Another idea for that 1200mm lens: use it during Wishes to get a close-up photo of Tinkerbell (and spoil any Tinkerbell secrets ;) ).

Santa'a paypal account is looking as fat as a Christmas goose. Some of my old toys did quite well finding home's with new girls and boys.
I'm thinking a 5D MKII might be delivered by a B&H elf in time for a Disney holiday trip. A pair of Cybersyncs would be nice too.

I'm looking at the new Tamron 17-50mm 2.8
I'd also like that Sigma 30mm.
I *need* a new tripod.
I'd like some other gear as well... like some good triggers, umbrella for OCF.
I bought my 70-200mm 2.8L from money I had saved from my sessions. I love it. I don't think I have it calibrated on my 50d exactly right, though, and I'm still getting used to it, as I'm fine shooting at 1/100 with my other lenses, but this one is so heavy. When I am perfectly steady or on a tripod, it's amazing. Hand-holding.. gawd. It feels like you're holding a 5lb bag of sugar on the front end. Still, I think the micro-adjustment on the body isn't exact, but I can't seem to get it better. It's all weird. I was thinking about sending the body and lens to Canon so they can do it for me. Same with my nifty. It's bugging me. LOL Can y'all tell?

I'd love a Nikon 24-70mm 2.8 and the 70-200mm 2.8 but realistically either the Tamron 28-75mm 2.8 or the Nikon 85mm 1.8.

If it's Santa then I'd place a request for a Sony 70-400mm f/4-5.6 G lens and a Zeiss 135mm 1.8 I won't get greedy and ask for the 300 f/2.8 G lens though. :rotfl:
Otherwise I think he may show up early with a tripod strap or bag. It would be nice if he'd throw in a memory card or two and a case that would fit a Canon D10. And I wouldn't mind a new ball head that doesn't give me fits with the quick release plate. :headache:

My Tamron 28-70mm stays on my camera 75% of the time. It's very sharp and such a good value for the quality.

I think the best I can hope for this year is a good tripod. I would love a new lens but I have promised myself I would learn to better use this camera before investing further.
I am signed up for a few classes too.
