This year we've seen a lot of slugs...any tips on how to get rid of them?

Slugs are evil!

Two things. There's Sevin. Check the label to make sure slugs won't like it. My Mom likes to mix dtergent and water and spray down affetced areas. I can't remember who the big Tide fan is. There's someone on here who swears by mixing Tide detergent and water for boxelder bugs. It might work for slugs, too.

The product is called Escar-go. It takes care of the slugs but doesnt kill good bugs.

I ran into some slugs earlier this season when moving some bricks that we had stored up. I usually pick them up with a little shovel and throw them into the street. This time, however, I just sort of had them fall off the bricks onto the hot asphalt driveway on what was a very hot day and they sorta just shriveled up and died.

Only one problem. I love walking around barefoot and wouldn't you know it, I not only stepped on a dead one but it wedged in that little concave spot where all the toes join the foot. :earseek: YUKKIEE!!!! GROSS, GET IT OFF MEEE!!!! I freaked out BIG time!!

So, if you take my advice and throw them in a hot area to dry up, make sure you don't walk barefoot there!!! :(

I have heard from the local garden center that if you put a shallow container of beer around the area that slugs are eating they will disappear. Have not tried it because of the dog and little kids we have around but may be worth a try.

Hi cgcw, welcome!! :)

I've tried the beer trick too cgcw. I never found it to be that effective, besides, it's a waste of good beer! :) It just occurred to me that maybe it never worked on my slugs because it was diet beer.....

Pentex, one year I spread wood ash around the base of the hostas, another year crushed eggshells. I've also put down slug bait. Guess who one in the end..........those slimy slugs!

Tulirose, yuck, that is gross!!!

Amid, does the Escar-go really work?
