We would like to join as well. Is there still time? I am completely new to this...Will there be a master list of all cabins and number of kids/adults participating?

Just let me know if there is something I can do to help.

Orojean and newbies! Welcome!!

As we get closer we may have room assignments...and we will do our best to provide a master list but sometimes rooms switch, so some of the fun part will be having the kids search the halls for Fish Extenders! :) We are planning on flying over the day of the cruise so we'll be so jetlagged I think we'll be passed out on the beds and hopefully not miss the safety drill! :) As we get closer we'll figure it out!!

I thought I heard that stingmom moved to a later cruise in May, need to recheck that...

Thanks!

Tentatively signing up...am flying alone with my dd so will need to be careful of luggage restrictions. One child, Christy, age 9. Don't have room # yet since we are Cat 12 gty -- hoping for a nice pixie dust upgrade! :wizard:

Has it been decided if we are doing gifts per cabin or per person... also if gifts are being given out multiple times on the cruise or just once? My preference would be to do just the kids and to have distribution one or two times.

I would like to to just kids as well. Maybe those who want to add adults can trade with each other and the rest of us can just do kids.

Hi all,
We are snowbound for the week in SNOWY SNOWY SNOWY Maryland, (over 5 feet in one week) so I'm trying to catch up on some computer stuff.

We want to do the FE.
We'll have four kids with us ages 9,6,3,1. Looks like my sister and neice will be doing this too. No cabin number yet as we're a guaranteed cabin. Hoping for a REALLY good upgrade!

Off to shovel the driveway again!!!

We would like to join in as well, if it is still possible. My DH and I are without youngsters this trip. We are retired and cruising by ourselves.:cheer2: But I would like to do FE's for the kids. Perhaps one or two days. That way my carryon bag won't be too heavy.

I am heading to the Mouse for a short visit March 3 - 8 at WDW and hope to find some new ideas. :cool1:

No not too late at all!! I've been swamped with life (son's tonsillectomy, building construction, science tournaments...:))I'll get y'all added asap!!

I will set a sign up date on the front page...I think we should say 30 days before sailing so people don't have to run out and get more stuff...

And just one token/item per traveler once for the trip is all I had planned on, you are welcome to 'extend' more..but with luggage restrictions, it's understandable!! :)

Thanks all!!

Ok so I've ummed and arrrred for ages about doing this and finally decided that I have to. I would always be wondering what fun it would have been if I didn't do it and would never know. Also the kids really want to do it so please count us in :)

We are Daniel aged 12, Amy aged 4 and Mum and Dad.

Is there a full list of people, names and ages yet?

We haven't got a room number yet, not sure when we will get it but will let you know when we do.

Oooow I am so excited now, more so than the kids :banana:

Tara, I hope all went well with your son's surgery. You must be up to your neck with homeschool projects at the moment, I'm used to you posting more....hurry back!

Looking forward to everyone having their stateroom numbers and having a complete list so we can shop for our FE gifts, that will mean the cruise is that much closer!

strawberryblonde! :rotfl: I have to laugh! My life has been sideswiped by activities the past few weeks...my husband likes to call it the perfect storm! :) I tried to put down on paper all that I was being asked to do for different events (co-leader on 4 major events, 2 camping trips, son got bronchitis on top of healing from tonsils, birthdays, contracting the pool and deck build, teaching, giving SAT's to 4-6th graders, father-daughter dance, speech & debate tournaments, teenpact 4 day event, and still more!!) my last biggest event ends April 24th so I will have a week to breathe before the cruise....oh, nother birthday on April 26th, so let's just say after April 30th, I can breathe...oh wait, need to finish sewing Fish Extender and get gifts...oh and pack!

I'm breathing, breathing!! :) What do you guys think about having a cut-off about 3 weeks prior to cruise (later/earlier?) and please don't worry if you buy some things and don't have enough for everyone, it will be just fun if folks get 1 item during the week! I know we don't count on getting stuff, just that extra, WOW! We're on a Disney cruise and look at how nice everyone is!! :)

I'm on a 2 night campout this weekend, then I can get back on Dis and add names to the list....plumber is coming right now to reroute my well lines that were broken with the pool build, I have to go feed the horses and move them to another pasture so plumber can get in.... my days! :)

Can't wait to cruuuuuuuise with you guys!!

I am getting slightly excited now! Tomorrow I am going to go and get the bits I need for the Fish Extender. I am not very craft so I am praying it turns out ok. Infact when I say I'm not very crafty, I struggle to sew a button on a blouse, so this will be a major task for me :rotfl2:
I have already started making a few gifts. I know exactly what I am doing for the kids and the adults but I won't tell you because I wouldn't want to ruin the surprise.

Okay cruise friends... I was FE inspired. It must be the snowy, windy, cold weather. I am getting so excited for this trip. I did it - I made the FE. 3 hours - no joke - at G Street Fabrics and AC Moore looking for all the right supplies. I was a crafter in a sea of quilt makers. They pitied me and helped me out. I mostly used fabric bonding tape that you iron and did not sew a stitch. So happy. It looks decent and I think it won't completely fall apart until at least day 7 (ha!). No good deed goes unpunished... twins quickly lost appreciation and were fighting about whose name would have to be on the bottom. After to listening to this on and off for the two days I worked on FE, one kid realized that having the bottom tier would allow easier access to gifts. Should be an interesting trip...

Wow well done on completing your FE :woohoo::woohoo:

I am going to go and get my bits today to start mine. I thought it would be quite easy but now I'm not so sure. I really should learn to thread a needle to start with :rotfl2:

Does anyone think there will be many more FE families joining us or do you think this will be it now? Just thinking about starting the gifts.

My DH and I do not expect gifts. The kids need to be taken care of, so they have a MAGICAL trip. I just enjoy crafting.

Congratulations on finishing your FE. My FE is also made with bonding tape. I think of it as the crafters' version of duct tape.

Hey so we have our room number too. It is 1067. We may try to change that when we get to the port. There are three of us. Mark, Tara, parents and Connor who is eight. Connor's fish extender is just one pocket with Goofy on it that says Cruisin with Goofy and his name. Just the fact that we are getting the final list for fish extenders is exciting. We are getting soooo close.

We went to the dollar store bought a banner, some Easter purses, some letters and princess and pirate wood decorations and used our hot glue gun to put it all together. I think it turned out pretty good for and hours worth of work and $7.

I'm going to try and post a link to a pic. I think I may use this when we get home as a place to leave them notes, allowence etc on our refrigerator.

I couldn't post a link but I put a pic up on facebook.

Room 6134 for the two of us.

I finally found some magnetic tape. I'm going with a Mediterranean look on the door, with characters from 'Ratatouille'.

My FE uses a Minnie red polka dot background. I found some sturdy heavy paper with a plastic coating that should survive lots of handling, and then put the two pockets on that. The gussets were a problem for me, but I figure that I will want to try something different for the next cruise anyway. As long as it survives this one, I'm okay.:cloud9:

I've not done this before either, our last disney cruise was nearly 4 years ago and FE wasn't on as many cruises like it is now. My daughter is passing out goodie bags to every person on the list, my son is passing out to all the kids and I'm passing something to each adult.....over 14 pounds , I was trying to keep the weight down! They are both excited about it and it is adding to the experience for us, so glad we are doing this!

Officially closed to Fish Extenders!!

Now it's time to pull together all the lists/rooms...I know several of you have posted your rooms on here (thank you!)....if you do not mind, could you each send me a private message with the number doing fish extenders in your party and your room number? (Some have changed since the start of this thread and I am pretty protective about personal information, so I don't like posting our family's room number on a public place)....once I have all the responses I will private message each of you with the completed list and the coordinating room numbers.

If I do not hear from you within the next week, I will send you a message asking for the information, we all get busy and sometimes I can go a week before I check! :) But, hope to be here every couple of days as we get closer!

CAN'T WAIT for the Med!!! :)

So so so excited now. I had a great idea for my extender but have had to change my plans as I needed some Mickey mouse shorts and have looked everywhere including in Disney last week and can't find any anywhere

Hey all!

I have 3 more that need to send me room numbers, but if they are a go then

we have 28 children and 8 (14 adults) rooms

where parents/grandparents/retirees will be participating, on the email I will break it down with names/ages..I'm just creating one pocket for the room with my parents so they would just need one gift, if you're a couple and only request one item rather than 2 let me know and I'll put that on the notes...my parents have no idea I'm doing this, so just anything they receive will be that much more exciting...

I hope to have responses back from the 3 I'm missing rooms for and we'll be ready to send out complete list! :)

thanks!

Tara,
Just pm'd you room #'s for myself and my sister.

Finally got my FE bought yesterday. I'm not at all crafty with this kind of stuff and am lucky to sew on a button. Was just planning to bring a paper Disney gift bag but found a post-Easter clearance at Target yesterday - they had some very cute small felt bags with flowers on them for 25 cents each! Bought two and will stitch the handle from one to the back of the other, add some Disney stickers and call it good! :thumbsup2

Note to all - I added a pocket for myself since it was so cheap and will look nicer than just a single bag hanging on our fish. Also, I know some folks are giving to everyone and some are doing gifts for the adults -- but I really want the focus on the kids so please don't feel any obligation to put something in my pocket.

One suggestion I read on another thread was to leave many of the excess gifts for your stateroom host/hostess. Poster said that they were VERY appreciative to receive a gift and it lightened the load returning home.

Knowing that most of us are dealing with luggage and weight restrictions on this cruise, I wouldn't be surprised if the FE gifts are smaller and less elaborate than those given on the cruises out of the US.
LOL, I've been collecting "goodies" as I see sales, but realized, I need to cull through what I've got due to luggage restrictions.

Our gifts are all very light. I knew most would have weight restrictions so have brought wisely. My kids are really excited about this and at the moment it is the most exciting thing for them :)

26 children, 7 rooms with participating adults..that's the final count, I have room numbers for all...I have tried to send PM's by your username but it keeps saying none can be found! UGH! So if you will email me your email address I'll send you the room list! The only room I don't have is from Orojean, she may be out of town or off line rightnow so hopefully we'll hear from her soon!

My email is lmhall2000@yahoo.com Thanks!!

We need to work out who will be giving out gifts and when. So if I start by saying there are 14 rooms and 10 days. So if 10 of us can commit to a day each then everyone will get a gift each day.

So here goes:

Participant Gift Distribution day

Disney-lover Day 2

For people with more than one gift to hand out, please just select one day. Extra gifts can be given out on any day. If you copy the list and paste it into your reply with your day then people won't get confused as to which days are filled. Hope that makes sense.

I'll probably be getting on the ship in early afternoon, so could take day 1.
However, all the FE might not be up yet....depending on when people board and how unpacking goes. If I not, I'll just do those the next day.

It's a nice idea to spread it out over the days but if that doesn't work for everyone, I think that's OK to just distribute whenever it's convenient or if your gift is geared to a specific day (ie Pirate night). Whether we receive a gift a day or several in one day and none the next, it will still be fun!

Also, unless she changed her mind, Stingmom decided not to do the FE so we are down to 13 cabins.

We were hoping to do ours late the first night as well. We thought maybe some of the kids could use ours during the cruise. No worries if you want us to do it another night, however.

No the first night will be great. I just thought if we could do different days it would keep the surprises coming for the whole time. I know some will be doing more than I lot of gifts as well so hopefully all days will be covered.

We can cover day 3 and 5 (Malta and Naples). I'm choosing early on rather than late as I expect our gifts will be used up during the cruise, so as to not cause any weight in luggage on the trip home :)

Thanks! Thoughtful of you to take the lead on this :thumbsup2. I probably won't mention this to the kids though....I'll just promote our days as a great time to make deliveries ;). This way, they won't expect things to turn out a certain way and will still feel all a mystery to them. Plus, things may not go according to plan :rotfl:

I won't be telling my kids either. I just thought it would be nice to spread the gifts over the whole time rather than get them all at once. That way the kids will get lots of little surprises rather than one big one.

My kids are really excited about doing this. I have brought them a few pins each as well so will wrap them and put them in their pockets. It will be nicer than just giving them in the room.

I was not following this well at all. I will take day 4. or day 9. We have three busy days planned in a row. It may just be when we have the time. Was there a master list made with our room numbers?
