Does anyone know if there are views that can be requested through MS for studios at Grand Californian? I just booked for May and thought about it ... and if there are views I can ask for outside of general, I'm sure it would not hurt to request.

I don't know if the views can be requested ahead of time, but we made a request when we checked in for the PP view. IMHO, all of the views that I've seen so far (maybe with the exception of a ground floor room) have been awesome, and I'd actually be happy with any of them!
Our view last trip, from a PP view room:

I actually may request a pool view room next stay, more serene, and the pools are beautiful lit up at night. :goodvibes

Wow! That is an awesome view!!! I went ahead and emailed a request to MS for either a PP or pool view. I hope they can oblige. Thanks so much for sharing!

There are 3 views at GCV. The Paradise Pier view, the Redwood Trail view (woodsy - overlooking the park redwood trail play area) and the pool view.
Definitely request ahead of time. I was not able to change at check in but didn't really care either.
Here's pics of the pool view I had from my 4th floor studio.

Over Columbus Day weekend I stayed in a studio with a theme park view. Although I loved it, I found it noisy day and night on the balcony. Screams and music during the day, deliveries and work at night. There is also a lot of construction going on right now too. I think until The Little Mermaid ride is built and the World of Color is completed I would request the pool view. It is a lovely area and you can see a bit of the Magic Kingdom fireworks from that side too!

I think KAT4DISNEY had the same studio room as we did. :) Our pool view room was nice and quiet. This is the view of the fireworks from our balcony.

Nice one of the fireworks! I never was at the room during that time - always in the parks watching with the masses!!! :goodvibes

Does anyone know if the FLOOR matters when requesting a view? I've requested a PP view (my family will LOVE the "action") but do the lower floors have a good view just like the upper floors?? Should I call back and clarify my request, or leave it at PP view?:confused3
Thanks!

Wideeyedwonder--
Your view is PERFECT! What floor were you on? Any tips for us? We'll be visiting in May.

Ours was a fifth floor 2 bedroom lock-off (1-br + studio connected with a lockable door), 5002 and 5004 (or something like that).
As for tips, well, the biggest one would be to not let our glowing reviews of the GCVs set your expectations TOO high...but then again, I REALLY REALLY like staying at the hotel rooms at the Grand, and the Villas blow the hotel rooms out of the water! :goodvibes
If you don't regularly visit DLR, the best tips can be found here:
http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1072276
And, always remember that DLR is as walking resort; in other words, you can really get by with just parking your car when you arrive, and not seeing it again until you leave...everything (the hotels, DD, DL, CA) is within walking distance...and, in the case of the GCVs and DD and CA, just FIVE MINUTES walking distance! Use that to your advantage to avoid the "comando" style park visits...if it gets too hot or crowded, come back to The Grand for some down time or a dip in one of the pools...and a nice cool drink. Then, after you re-charge, attack the parks again!
We've bought enough points to allow us two visits a year, 3 nights each, and we're 99 days away from our next visit (in late January!)
