Hi all,

Thinking about updating our camcorder to a little diddy digital one as we find our old Canon a little cumbersome and bulky. Do you have any recommendations??

Many thanks,

Lisa

Hi!
First thing you should do is try a couple in a shop. Some of the really small ones look great & are really light but some people find them awkward to use. The more "traditional" shaped ones are almost as small these days but are easier to handle. Then, once you've find a size you like, buy a couple of camcorder mags & see what they recommend. They also usually carry ads where you can get the camcorders much cheaper than on the high street. Don't rush into it. If you're not too fussed about having the very latest model, you can usually get the older version at very reduced prices.
Finally, get a Digital one! Anything else will be obselete soon (IMHO) & when you do make sure it is DV in & out. That means you can edit the film on your OC really easily. Trust me, it's worth it!
Let me know if you want any more specific advice, I'll see what I can do!
Lenny
PS in case you hadn't guessed, I'm on the hunt for one myself at the mo!

The Sony PC range (PC 8, 9 101, etc) or the JVC P3 are all excellent small cameras. Great picture and sound, long battery life, easy to carry around and simple to use. Visit http://www.whatcamcorder.net or http://www.camuser.co.uk for info and reviews. Both these magazines will have lots of advertisers offering prices far lower than High Street dealers.

Just seen a Canon MV5 for £629 - are they any good??? I'm just off to study the magazines so I'll have a look for any reviews. Do you think we'll be able to sell our old camcorder on Ebay, it's a Canon UCX 30Hi?
