I feel like I haven't been around here much lately. Occasionally post something or a response from time to time but that's about it. Even Facebook has been hurting. :) And my blog? Haven't written in it in 3 months. :sad2:

We been feverishly working on our new home. The I never realized first off, how anal retentive I am when it comes to painting. I also never realized that my partner likes to use the "I have carpul tunnel" excuse for NOT painting. I could kill him if I didn't love him so much. Even so, I'd probably follow behind him, fixing his painting mistakes.

We've completed the den and kitchen. Everything is painted, artwork hung, art glass put out, etc. The hallways have been completed and our guestroom (aka Disney room) is almost completed and ready for guests. :) As long as they promise not to defile the Mickey bedding if/when we buy it. We finally have a place for all of our collections, pins, artwork, vintage items (bought a 1961 map), etc.

Only thing left is the front livingroom and bathroom, then we'll be finished downstairs and ready to start decorating for our Housewarming/Christmas party on Dec 5th. BTW, y'all are invited! (says that knowing no one lives in Dallas except for a couple) but seriously anyone is welcome!

That leaves getting whatever we can done upstairs before the party. What gets done, gets done. If it doesn't? I'm not going to stress about it.

The reason I'm panicking, is that we have enough decorating to do for Christmas that it usually takes us 2 weeks to complete, not to mention cleaning and organizing food/drinks for the party.

Ok, I'm totally now freaked myself out. I think we bit off more then we can chew.

Oh and when did I hit the 1000 mark for posts around here? Did someone forget to order the cake?

Oh Mr. Z you may very well be in trouble! :teeth: I may be in Dallas that week! LOL. Wouldn't that be wild? (Just say yes. I'd never have the courage to show up). LOL.

I like your explanations, but would far prefer photos of this lovely sounding place! :teeth:

The photos of the house are stunning. Absolutely gorgeous. And Mr. and Mr. Z are delightful company.

We need to make a plan for our next lunch. Or dinner. Or breakfast. Or whatever.

DVC~OKW~96, we would love to meet you when you are here! Of course I leave for WDW on 12/3 so I am going to miss the party. :guilty: But if you are around earlier that week we should at least try to get everyone together to say hello! :)

I feel your pain buddy!

I ended up doing all the painting here myself, sometimes its just easier. I sent Shrek on erronds!

Last year I had to cut back on the decorations, something just had to give.

And my best advice....put the holiday decorations away in reverse order! Now that I actually have time to decorate again, its not fun digging past all of the Christmas stuff to find the Halloween stuff! :sad2:

Aw thanks everyone. :) I just feel so out of touch the last month. With work being hell (and getting worse through the end of the year) and all we have to do, looks like I'm going to be a little out of touch until after the party. I'll make sure I come back to say Hi as often as I can. :)

We keep inviting friends to come over to see us, but I think they're afraid we'll throw a paintbrush into their hand or something.

Which by the way, DVC, if you decide you do want to meet, you are more then welcome to stop by. :) Let me know and I can send you an evite.

Elizabeth, we would love to meet you some weekend for brunch/lunch or whatever. It was great seeing you! I'm not sure what our weekend looks like, but I think we're swamped. I'll let you know if we take a break from everything.

I'll get some pictures uploaded soon so I can show y'all our progress.

DH is off Saturdays, so brunch or lunch would be perfect! :thumbsup2 We are busy during the week because DS has so much stuff going on, but our weekends are mostly open. Just let me know what works for you guys. :)

Let me talk to the hubby and see if we can take a break maybe for Brunch at Mama's Diner or something.

Ask the hubby and I receive. He's so efficient. Here's a couple before and after of the Den.

LOL maybe you've been busy too? I missed you too!

I'll tell Steven. That's the first painting that he did regarding the passing of one of his close friends last winter. It's what got him started painting. www.smfloyd.com

I just wanted to chime in and say that everything is beautiful. I love wood floors. After you are all done and the busy holidays have passed maybe we should set up a date to meet somewhere in between Houston and Dallas. I live in Katy, which is just west of Houston. I have never been to a Dis meet, but would like to meet others from this forum.
I will be heading to WDW in 17 days for my 36th birthday and after that there are the holidays. Probably too busy for everyone to even think about doing anything before then.

I hope everyone is doing well. I need to post more. I was just starting to get to know everyone.

You want mind numbing-
Try suede effect paint - one mistake and you have to start a wall all over.
No kidding.
No going back to fix it.
If you see a mistake you have to do the whole wall again.

Well, I won't be going - I just called member services and everything is booked up! I could have gotten a 1 bedroom at BWV for 3 days in the middle but nothing else. I was even willing to stay at a moderate but those are full too. Actually I'm heading to WDW in a couple hours so maybe I'll try again when I get home, hopefully something will open up.

Availability is sucky. I have looked a couple of times to see if we could downgrade since this is a cash trip for us, and there is NOTHING. I thought once we got past the 45 day mark there might be cancellations, but nothing has opened up. :confused3 So whatever. We'll keep our savanna view bunk bed room and deal with it. At least we got an AP rate.

You're more then welcome! We finished 80% of it last night. Then steven found a few more vintage disney items on Ebay and then found a mickey mouse pull chain for the ceiling fan. (big eye roll)

I live in Texas too, further south in Houston, and I for one welcome this seattle weather. I know it won't last forever, but OMG IT'S NOT 100+!!!!!!!! :)

I love these few months when I can keep my windows open 24/7 (unless it rains) and not run an AC nor a heater!

ok enough soapboxing about cooler weather. :)

North Houston here in The Woodlands....sometimes feels like south Dallas. Run year round here mostly in weather that is hot and humid so love the few times a year that we get Seattle like weather. :thumbsup2

Woohoo! More Texans.

I love the heat and I do have to say that the cooler temps are great, but I'm just sick of the rain. Since October 1st, I think it's rained every day except 3. Feel like we need to build an ark. But Houston? You guys have worse humidity then we do. Going outside in the summer is like taking a hot bath. Minus the bubbles.

Give me his address girl! He won't know what hit him.

Anyhoo, back to pictures. Here's the downstairs guestroom that we've almost finished and is now where we put all of our Disney stuff. Still have some stuff coming in the mail, others still in boxes. We're having to pick and choose now.

Thanks guys! But no matter what we do, the room is probably going to look a "tad" bit cluttered if we're not careful. On the big blank wall, we still have our Pin shadowboxes and our Shag 50th Anniversary prints....

Right now, Steven and I have been obsessed with DL Opening day and 1955-1965 vintage items. Recently we bought a 1941 Fantasia Movie program, 1955 opening day book sold at the park that's full of photo's (looks like postcards), a 1960 Brer Bear statue and a 1971 Song of the South movie lobby poster, 1958 Disneyland Hotel ashtray and a 1979 mickey mouse lamp. :)

We need to stop!
