I have always gone with my son or, this upcoming trip, my two nephews. Never been on one with just adults. My husband is not a big disney fan at all. :confused3
Last night some friends came by and Mike saw my Unofficial Guide book on the kitchen table. He quickly grabbed his wife, Tammy, and showed her. He asked me all excited if I was planning a trip. I said yes I am going in January and asked him if they wanted to come with us. He tried to get me to change it to February but that will never do. Anyway, we are going to try to work on a trip sometime with just the 4 of us or, if we can work it out, with all our kids. They range in age from 16 to early 20s. I think it would be so much fun but have never done this. Anyone ever done something like this?

We do this all the time. Probably the last 12 or 13 times we went to Disney it was adults only. We have a blast!
Sometimes it's just me and my best friend - total Disney nuts the whole way. Sometimes it's me, DH, best friend and my parents. My dad and DH are not huge Disney fans, but they love us so by default kinda have to love Disney - or at least tolerate it. They never really look forward to the trip, but always have a good time. The last trip (3 weeks ago) was 9 adults, no children. Me, DH, 22yo son, best friend, parents, sister, plus brother and his girl (we met her for the first time on this trip!). Again - totally awesome time had by all! My parents even went a few days by themselves to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary (a gift by us kids - and they BOTH had a great time).
It's a different trip with just adults, but it can be way better in lots of ways. Not so much whining, ability to get a break from each other if there's too much "together time", you don't have to be responsible for others, etc. The only downfall I've ever found - and it's minor and you can't avoid it even with children - is that everyone's personality is fully grown. It's hard sometimes to please everyone. If you want to go to it's a small world, but someone else hates it, unless you're all very aware that sometimes you do stuff because you love the people, not the activity, or you're all willing to sit something out while the others do it, it can get stressful. Luckily, our core vacationing group of 5 really seems to have this down pat. We all speak up about our personal "must-dos" and we all work to make them happen.
I would totally recommend an all adults trip. Works great for us - but we all love each other and will do stuff to make each other happy. If you have a selfish, bratty "kid" in your group of adults, it can make for a crappy trip, though, so think about how you all get along, plan accordingly and say Hi to Mickey for me!

Sure adults go to Disney! My parents have gone by themselves before and are going again in December. My friend and I are going in January. You never get too old for the magic! ;)
Have a great trip and happy planning!

You should try it. Our kids are grown and "not into the WDW thing anymore", so all our trips are adults only now. While going with children has it's own special magic, there's a magic to just going with your spouse as well. You get to experience more of the relaxing aspects of WDW.

We bought into DVC when I was 15 or so. I'm now 20 so yes, all of our recent trips are "adult-only" trips. In fact, I will be going to Disney with my parents and bff (also 20) this Jan. This bff also went with me and my parents on my h.s. graduation trip (we got a 2 bdr villa at BCV) and had a marvelous time. If you choose to go with older teens, it'll be a great time. The Disney magic is still in all of us, and we enjoy the attractions and educational experiences (Epcot is our fave park). When we go, we try to incorporate a lot of leisure time to get away from our busy everyday lives. Think pool time, time for shopping in DTD, and lots of time to eat at table service restaurants- think things that you prob wouldn't be able to enjoy as much with younger kids. Have fun!

Table service lunch and dinner, lots of Signature Dining.
Adult beverages
Behind the scenes tours
At MK:
Late evening EMH (less strollers)
No Fantasyland or Toontown

At Epcot:
World Showcase Entertainment! (Off Kilter, British Invasion, MoRockin, etc.)
Rose & Crown
Soarin' (FastPass, of course!)
M:S green team
Spaceship Earth
American Adventure
Le Cellier
At Hollywood Studios:

Great Movie Ride
Mulch, Sweat & Shears
50's Prime Time cocktail lounge

Of course everyone is different, but this is what I love to do on an adult's only trip. :goodvibes

Our last trip was all adults (my bro over 21)
But just as fun! Plus it was great, we could go to a lounge and have an adult beverage and have no worries. Plus we can split up and make plans to meet again if you get tired of hanging out together.
Just me and my hubby in Jan 2010 and we are so excited. OK, Me more then him.. haha
But we are going to stop and smell the roses and really take in things.
Like EPcot World Showcase....
And have some great food...
It's different with no kids but you have lots of kids to watch and really take in how cute they are - getting to talk to them and their parents in line, but you get to move on.... and they have their kids... HAHA (no offense to anyone) I love kids..and love watching them at Disneyworld... OMG too much fun....
You'd never regret it...

I haven't been to WDW with a child since I WAS one. My last 4 trips have been adults only. However, we are planning a trip for 2011 with the in-laws who have 4 children. So I'll get to see their Disney enjoyment and then leave when I've had enough. :rotfl:

It's just me and my husband. We have always gone to WDW without kids (except this last time with a grand gathering) We like it much better.

I've done 3 adults only trips, and am doing 2 more this year!
I'm 24 and some of these trips I've done with friends. Last April I went with my 80 year old grandmother, and the 2 of us are leaving in 9 days for another trip!
Disney doesn't care what numerical age you are! It's for everyone!

My wife and I have gone 4 times, just the two of us. After each trip, when people asked me how it was, I always say the same thing:
"Disney World is no place for children!"
You can and will have a wonderful time.
(note: we're taking our DD2 this December for the first time, but we've been there enough times that we won't be disappointed if we miss things by taking it slow)

My dh and I went in February to celebrate our anniversary alone and had a great time. Although...we went non-stop with no one to have to slow down for! I went with friends last month and dh and I are going for 4 days next month. We love taking our kids, but it is a lot of fun to go, just us, as well. For one thing...we can actually ride thrill rides TOGETHER, lol.

My husband and I have taken several trips with just the two of us to both DL and WDW. We love it! We've also gone with another couple several times. My sister and I surprised our other sister with a trip for her 50th bday - it was like one long slumber party!

Love the no whining...no dealing with over-tired kids...schedule at our pace. Have been on 6 adults only trips over the last couple of years (well some of "the kids" were with us on some of the trips, but the kids were all 18-28 yrs. old.. A couple of trips were just DH & I) We go on most rides, including Fantasyland in the MK. We love the stage shows, the movies in Epcot countries, the singers, the street performances. We love being able to go on what kids would call boring rides (TTA) and boring attractions (HoP) Love restaurants with adult beverages.
Now I'd love to take a grandkid(s) there when & if I have any (hint to my adult children!!!) but have to say the trips once the kids were grown were way more fun than when they were young.

I've only gone with children about four times and we're talking 100 plus visits over 10 years. If you are into Disney you do not need to bring children to enjoy a Disney park.

I've been there 4 times in the last 2 years and has been my wife, my mom, a friend of mine and myself lol..
Next Oct will be our first time with kids and I actually think it will be really cool since I've been there done that so I wont care about doing stuff and can 100% focus on the KIDS!!
It's gonna be AWESOME!!!

Since DH and I don't have kids yet so yes! It can be taught! I mean done (sorry Genie slipped out) I'm planning another adults only trip for us next year, and a friend of mine and I are planning a girls-only trip for the 2 of us. At least when we finally do have kids, we can not worry about not doing this or that-we already have!

I've only been with children/grandchildren twice in the last seven trips. Of the five trips I currently have planned, one involves children.

My DH & I went every year for the first 5 years of our marriage before we had kids. Then we just kept on going with kids in tow. This is the first time in 6 years we will go without the kiddos. SOOOOO excited! Just us & another couple!!! We were Disney freaks before we had kids anyway!!! Leaving in ONE WEEK!!!!!

oh adults only is great fun. We used to go as a couple to Disneyland all the time. then the kids came along. They actually only went to Disney with us, because I made them go. Now they are 15 and stay home while DH and I have had our first adults only trip this past January. So much more fun with just adults. We are going again in 20 days yahooooooooo:banana:

From a week long trip. A gang went to celebrate our 2 year Anniversary.
At home they are the Friday Night Supper Club...we take turns and host dinner on Friday Nights.
Everyone stayed together in a Grand Villa at Old Key West. Since my DH and I are the Disney Freaks...we planned and managed the trip.
We had a Schedule of Daily Activity (what Park and ADR) posted on the Fridge each day. We also put together a Photo Scavenger Hunt for the 4 other
couples to do.
At the end of the week, we all went our separate ways for some "couple" time.
They loved it and it was a great trip!
No Kids (under the age of 44) involved....just BIG kids!

My husband and I are going for our anniversary in February. Neither one of us has been to Disney since we were kids, but for us, it made the most sense in terms of going somewhere on vacation. My DH would be bored out of his mind sitting on a beach in the Carribbean :confused3, we don't gamble, so Vegas holds no allure, and I was interested in going somewhere I wouldn't have to do a lot of thinking once I got there The only other destinations we were interested in were in Europe and that's too expensive.
At Disney there will be a ton of things that we're both interested in doing. We will get to stay at a beautiful resort (CSR) and we're doing the DxDP so we are booking lots of signature restaurants.
This is also going to give a chance to scope the place out before we bring our DS, 2, down sometime in the (not too distant???) future.

Dh and I have gone consistently since 1986 for our honeymoon. My sister told me how much fun she had at Epcot and I said...Why not! We've gone consistently throughout the years.
Yes, we've gone to other places...CA..to Disneyland...:)...Grand Canyon, Bryce, Zion...Las Vegas...DC, Canada, Aruba, Bahamas on DCL. Although we enjoyed these trips...we always return to DW...We've always enjoyed our trips and DW will always be an option we can't pass on.

Looking forward to my December trip, just me and my mom. No children. There will be no fuss in the morning about getting up. Can move at a more leisurely pace. No whining to go on rides, even though I don't want to. I'm a rides wuss and for health reasons my mom can't do them. Can do all the shows and people watching I want to. :woohoo:

Last year we went for the first time with another couple. During the day we each did our own thing and then met for dinner. It worked out well with this strategy.

I went solo the first few times; lately it seems a lot more people want me to take them with me. I am taking two girls this year who are in college and work at the local watering hole where I eat all the time.
It is fun to share the experience with someone, especially who has never been before. They get to see things that they normally wouldn't see on a first-time trip, because they now have a wonderful tour guide.
I try to go with the flow and let them experience it for themselves, but do make sure we have ADR's, etc. so they get the full experience of the meals.
The girls I am taking this year are all excited about our ADR's - they said they like the fact they know they are in for a different dining experience each night!princess:

My girlfriends and I take an annual trip!! It's the best! You are allowed to be the child and aren't responsible for anyone else's fun but your own!! Not an experience to be missed!!!

I went with my girlfriend this year and will probably do so again next year. I imagine it must be way more stressful going with children, with only two adults we had no issues sticking to plans, getting up early, getting bored, tired or sidetracked so we managed to cover ground a lot quicker and see a lot more. The other alternative is to opt for a slower, hassle free pace but we felt the greatest advantage was how we could get to see so much and be a bit more selective about the attractions we went on(although we tried to go on everything once).
Adults get a lot out of dining at the better places as well.

I'd DEFINETLY recommend the adult only trip. Since my father's not really big on Disney, and since I'm OBSESSED with all things Disney :thumbsup2 my mother and I (I'm 22) try to go for a four day trip each year during the last week of August - first three weeks of September period when they have the included meal deal at a fantastic rate!
We've done Disney both ways, by ourselves and with younger children, and I'll say that the adult only trip is a much calmer trip for us. We're able to go much longer, see a lot more attractions, and go at our own pace, staying as little or as long as we want. :goodvibes
It's actually really nice to go and not constantly hear in a whiney voice, "I'm hot...", "I'm hungry...", "I'm tired...", "I don't wanna go on that ride...", "I WANNA RIDE SMALL WORLD AGAIN!!" (After you've ridden it 12 times already... :lmao:)

This will be our second time all adult disney trip, its great!
We are going in Sept 2010 there will be 6 adults (me and my DB-25, my parents and his mom and family friend all 55+)
We will do all the parks but enjoy meals out in some of WDW fantastic restaurants (including chef mickey's character Breakfast of course, never too old for that:rolleyes1).
We are planning on doing the wine tasting in Jiko's, which you couldn't do with children.
We would deffinatley recommend adults only!:cool1:
