This is Thread #30 of the BOB threads and our cruise starts this Saturday.

Welcome to the "I'm with B.O.B., are you?" Cruise Thread. This cruise has been dubbed the BOB cruise because there are so many cruisers who are celebrating something on board and because of this, it was originally called Bash On the Boat which eventually got shortened to B.O.B. There actually is no one named Bob on this cruise (our KK1 Bob is sadly not joining us this time) but I'm sure all the non-bobers on this cruise would love to be with Bob too :goodvibes

If you're new to our group, you're not alone. Several of us have sailed together before (on the 10/20/07 Western Cruise - a.k.a. Konked Kruisers) and several more are new. To indicate the ones new to the group, we have put an * infront of their DIS name.

The following is the same as the other first posts. For those of you new to our DIS Meet thread - WELCOME. There is plenty of good info in this post.

As usual, I'll be back here to update this post periodically. I will try to keep important information up here for all to reference as well as for all our new friends who come to cruise with us. If something of importance comes up, PM me and I will add the link.

We have dubbed this cruise "The Bash on the Boat" because so many people are celebrating birthdays or anniversaries on this cruise. You will also see "KK2" in the title. As you will read, many of us just sailed together on the 10/20/07 Western Cruise. So, with many of us returning here, we are dubbing this KK2. For those of you who didn't sail with us, please don't feel that you are not part of the group. We are a very open and welcoming/friendly bunch. We had such a great cruise last time, but feel it will be even better this time. Come along and enjoy the fun. Here are links to posts that we found important through this and the previous threads.

TRACKING YOUR DOCS
About 2 weeks before your cruise follow this UPS link.
http://wwwapps.ups.com/WebTracking/reference?loc=en_US

In the shipping reference put your cruise confirmation #. In the zip code put your zip or if you used a travel agent put their zip.

This will track your documents. It will give you up to date delivery information. If you used a travel agent it will be sent to them and they will have to get it to you. Most of the stuff that is in the pack you can do online ahead of time now.

As of August 13th, 2009, Dis Tag participation is CLOSED. In order to give everyone sufficient time to buy and prepare their Dis Tag gifts, we needed to have a cut off date and that date is now passed.

If you have any questions or concerns about Dis Tag, please PM Karen Mouse or millerpjm.

In case anyone is wondering what the FO game we play here on the B.O.B. cruise meets thread, here is the explanation:
FO is a game (for lack of a better description) that was started on the Konked Kruiser thread that some of us belonged to for the October 07 cruise. The term FO was started by afeg.

Anyway, the game in a nutshell....if you post, and your post is the beginning of a page, then you try to get the second post on the page also. It means you have started a "Fresh One".

Now, this isn't always as easy as it seems - if there are multiple posters on at the same time, and someone else gets the second post, you don't get to "claim the FO". The 40 second rule between postings comes into play.

And finally here are two very handy links for your cruise...

Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party Tips and Tricks

Remember, you can gain entry to MK as early as 4pm on the day you are attending MNSSHP. Use the turnstyles to the very right-hand side
and don't forget to get your wristbands and TOT bags when you enter!

Here's some tips for those of you who have never gone....

-Get there as early as 4pm, use the entrance at the very far right. Make sure they give you your wrist band and trick-or-treat bag!

-Between 5pm and 7pm is the best time to do the rides as most people are leaving the park!

-If you think you will be there until the end of the party, do the second parade as it is less busy. During the first parade, do the rides as everyone is at the parade.

-If you are watching the first parade, make sure you claim your spot about an hour before the parade!

-Watch the fireworks near the hub/tommorowland entrance to get a good view of the witch flying down from the castle! (The witch takes Tink's place during mnsshp)

-Check out the storefront windows along Main Street, they are decorated for Halloween!

-Make sure to ride Haunted Mansion, it is a totally different atmosphere there during the party.

-You can only buy the mnnshp merchandise (pins, t-shirts, music) during mnsshp party hours, so if you want something party specific, check the stores after 7pm.

-If you want to see characters, there's tons in Tomorrowland (near Carousel of Progress usually) and Fantasyland! Some are only ever seen during the party!

-Don't waste your time getting your fortune told, it's cheesy and the lines can take forever!

-If you want lots of candy, stop by the treat stations near the end of the night, they usually give out handfulls then!

-Make sure to enjoy the atmosphere on Main Street USA and the entrance area, especially if you got there at 4pm when the Halloween decorations weren't all up!

Saw your post about the cats and the luggage. Ours will be doing the same as soon as we make some progress on packing! Matthew hates it, but I do better packing the night before. I'll need to wash some things Thursday, so I can't pack completely. But we are starting a staging area!

I know what you mean, Beth. We put everything in the family room downstairs.. to minimize the "intrusion" I usually wait till the last minute too, but it seemed easier packing ahead for summer when it's getting cold here now! :) The cats are so funny about the luggage.. they KNOW something's up!

Mornin' all....

Wow, thread 30 already!

I need some ideas.....I don't have any of those plastic zip ties that people recommend to attach my FE to keep it from wandering off. I don't really want to go out and buy a package just to have one for the cruise. Anyone have any suggestions about how else to keep my FE from wandering?

I've probably got one you can have Jen. Ask me when we're on board.

Good morning everyone...

I didn't make it on the thread too much last night. I just wasn't feeling doing anything that required a lot of concentration. I guess I was mentally lazy. I am at the point of the week where the cruise seems close but yet so far away.

Anyway, Elaine packed up Jay last night and told me that I need to pack today/tonight. I am working today, but don't have too much to do so I will probably come home and do some housework, yardwork and packing done.

Each kid is going to have a small suitcase and Elaine and I will share a large one. We will also have a garment bag. We will probably only have to check 2 bags coming home on Airtran. I will probably just check all of them on JetBlue going down.

Lets do a roll call for the Radisson DISmeet. I am thinking 8:00 or so will be primetime after we all get dinner and do any shopping in the Cocoa Beach area.

My family will be there!

I accidentally posted this on Cass' trip report. I had a tab open for "compose a message" for her thread and this thread and I got them confused. :lmao: Once it posted I saw the different color background and thought, "uh oh, I screwed up!"

Just one here but all papers are in chronological order.

Ok, quick question. I printed out the form that goes along with the cruise contract. That includes all of the signature stuff and credit card information. Is that 5 page or so packet all I need to bring along with my passports?

As far as I know you only need the signature pages.

As I look at it, that appears to be the case. In any case, I'll bring my entire docs packet so we will be fine.

Hi Mary
Saw your post just as Nancy and I were leaving to do some last minute errands.
Thanks for the Bon Voyage. Its to bad you guys weren't able to join us . You sure will be missed.

Wait, I think there is just one as soon as you get on the Beachline at MCO and head to the Cape. I remember it now because I had a slow car and I had to "nail" it to get moving out of the toll booth.

We'd love to join you all but I think we won't be in the area until at least 9pm, so don't count on us.....

Ditto. Our flight gets in about 6 and we will be staying at the Embassey Suites and I have no idea how far that is from the Radisson. We will see everyone at the terminal.

I so hate sports, luckily Bob doesn't watch TOO much

My son doesn't like them at all either, he's ultra geek. Too busy building computers and fixing them and gaming.
No sports though.
I told him he'd make some girl very happy one day:hug:

Douglas only watches 49ers games and he watches them on Tivo so he fast-forwards half the game. Perfect!

So I had this weird dream that I was at Walmart people watching and then I was shopping with a friend who kept putting really strange things in my cart so that when I was checking out I had to omit half of it. Then I walked up to the United check-in (you know, the one at every Walmart) and didn't have my driver's license so I tried to use a Costco card and they wouldn't take it. I was really upset about it of course. Thankfully, Douglas woke me up at this point. Why can't I have nice dreams about vacations?

Well said. It was Joanne who talked us into booking this trip in September 2008, right after we got off the Wonder while we were still in that mindset!

Ok, before too many people head to Florida, I want to ask a question. I know that many are not staying at the Radisson, but are still coming to the DISmeet on Friday night.

We will be there as well.

That's quite a dream. Usually I split up our outfits when I pack but this time all of Dan's dinner clothes are in tone suitcase so if it should get lost on the way down he can't eat!!! Seriously, I guess he'd have to go in shorts or buy something really expensive on the ship!

Where are you staying tomorrow night Dan? We will be in Portland Thursday around 6:00 PM.

We are staying at the Hampton Inn by the mall because we have a 6AM flight on Thurs. By the time you get to Portland we will be in FL at OKW.

Saw your post about the cats and the luggage. Ours will be doing the same as soon as we make some progress on packing! Matthew hates it, but I do better packing the night before. I'll need to wash some things Thursday, so I can't pack completely. But we are starting a staging area!

Yup, me too.
I'll be packing Thursday, I hate to pack early. I'm better at last minute.
Also because one of my cats will be laying all over stuff and then there's the ferret.... she'll be in and out of everything and stealing stuff as I put it in:rotfl:

How do you measure, a time so dear
in daylights

in inches,
in miles of laughter and smiles
in 600, 4thousand 800 seconds
how do you measure

I've got us packed for pretty much any weather. What to leave out??? :confused3

I know what you mean about not knowing what to take and what to leave. We were there once in eb & it was so cold, below normal temps they kept saying. But then it could be hotter than normal too. Layers I guess.

Thanks for the compliments on the lyrical 5000th post. :thumbsup2:goodvibes

I just spent the last two hours redeeming our cans and bottles that have collected in our garage over the past year. I was not able to cash the receipts in yet as there was a long line at the customer service booth and I didn't feel like waiting after being there all afternoon, but I am guessing I the kids will have $40-$50 dollars to split for their own spending. I consider the State of Connecticut to be their annual savings account for vacations! :lmao:

Speaking of which, I have to sign our passports and fill in the current info page in pencil.

I am usually an overpacker, but with the baggage fees, I tried very hard not to over pack. Now, of course, I'm worried that I haven't packed enough! Especially after reading Cass's report about how cold it has been. Too funny Paige. I just told Chuck this morning that I had a dream that I forgot to pack part of my formal wear. I checked the suitcase and sure enough, I did forget to pack it!! :scared1:

I am sure you guys (and gals) are running around like crazy getting the last minute things taken care of before you head to the port later this week for you wonderful vacations.

Just wanted to wish all of you a great cruise and ask that you not use up all the warm air, sunshine and pixie dust as you will be turning the Magic over to me upon your return for my 7 days at sea.

Have a WONDERFUL cruise, can't wait to read all your trip reports when you get back. Enjoy and travel safe

Thanks! Hope you have a wonderful cruise also:hug:

Seasons of Fun---in a week...

600, 4thousand 800 seconds
600 4thousand moments so dear
600 4 thousand 800 seconds
How do you measure, a time so dear
in daylights
in sunsets
in midnights (Rockn Bar D)
in cups or smoothies
in inches,
in miles of laughter and smiles
in 600, 4thousand 800 seconds
how do you measure
a week on a cruise?

How about fun????
How about fun????
How about fun???
Measuring fun

Season of Funnnnnnnnn
Season of Funnnnnnnnn

600,4 thousand 800 seconds
600,4 thousand moments so dear
600 4thousand 800 seconds

or (Courtesty of JetBlue Airways)

So if you dare to find me,
Look to the southern sky
as someone told me lately
Everyone deserves a chance to fly!
But I'm not flying solo
I'm certainly not flyin free!
To those I'll see,
Take a message back from me
Tell them I'm defying gravity
on my way to the cruise
Defying Gravity!
And soon we'll be there in the end
And nobody, or swine flu or cold
is ever gonna bring me Down

(Chorus fills in
I hope your happy,
Look at him, he's giddy
Join him!
Join me,
And I'll see, You on the the cruise! (mega crescendo)
oh ah ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh (my best Idina Menzel imimatation)

Cool!:thumbsup2

Chris, you are my new best friend!!!! Two broadway adaptations in one poem!! Yay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (Love me some Rent AND Wicked - probably because I'm a HUGE Idina Menzel fan... even saw her in concert last year here in Richmond)

:worship::worship::worship::worship::worship:

O! Didn't know second part was from Wicked. Haven't seen it yet but I've read both books and loved them.
Waiting to see the play sometime.

Just a quick post to say safe travels to all. It has been a long time coming but finally here.

See everyone on the ship, or before if our paths cross.

Oh, and happy anniversary to the KKers. 2 years ago today we sailed on KK1. And actually at this time 2 years ago, we were at the Mickey Pool meet. Seems like just yesterday.

Yay Jeff! Glad to "see" you! :goodvibes
See you for real in a few days!:woohoo:

Howdy y'all! I'm sitting at the salon with my girls getting our toes done! They are getting fingernails done now.... But we had some good girl bonding time!

I may be skipping work for the next 2 days. I'm not feeling great and i think some naps would help alot!!! May also pull girls oi of school to make sure they stay well!
