Welcome- I have done some knitting- mainly scarves though and I haven't used a pattern for them- I just make them as far across as I want and then as long as i want.

I would suggest the website ralvery.com for knitting- my sister-in-law does a lot of knitting and I know she gets patterns and help from there.

I'm a knitting newbie too! :thumbsup2

Ravelry.com is definitely a wonderful place to find patterns, as well as see feedback and examples from others who have used them. I'm currently working on a very simply scarf pattern that I found there. There is also knittinghelp.com for some assistance with basics. They even have videos of demonstrations.

Good luck with your projects!

ETA: I haven't used the knitPro (http://www.microrevolt.org/knitPro/) page to print out any patterns yet, but I've played around with it and I've seen photos of knit/crochet work that people have created using it. You can upload any photo to create a pattern, so you could probably upload pics with Disney characters in them and get some patterns to play around with!
