So I made it over to the event today (and so did one other LI Diser as well :)). It was crazy crowded at the Roosevelt Field Mall today, it reminded me of the upcoming Christmas shopping season. First we went over to where the "party" was. They had a D.J., Mickey, Donald and Daisy (not sure where Minnie was:confused3) and they were giving away Doorway to Dreams Mickey ears. This was happening right in front of the Disney store. Here is a pic of the Mickey ears:

Here are pics of the characters:

After we got our Mickey ears and hung out for a while we decided to go upstairs to where the "store" is located. It's in the Nordstrom wing on the 2nd floor. You definitely can not miss it! Here is a picture of the facade (it changes color) and the entrance:

We peeked in and were told they were giving 45 minute presentations. All we had to do was fill out a card with our name, phone, address, and email. We would then be entered into a drawing to win a week anywhere in the world with DVC's sister timeshare properties. We decided to do it. Disney already has all of our info anyways, what the hey! We waited about 5 minutes and then were escorted into a small "theater". The woman doing the presentation was extremely bubbly (of course!) and she stated she was from Orlando and came especially for the event. Upon entering you get a "portfolio" with a pen, pad, and point charts for Bay Lake Towers and AKL Villas. Here is a picture of the portfolio (its really nice!):

You are then shown a short (2-3 min) film featuring the DVC resorts and Vero Beach and Hilton Head. There was a heavy emphasis on Bay Lake Towers. After that she then goes into the point system, talks about price a little bit. And basically tries to convince you to buy DVC for the "value". There were two families in the presentation that were already DVC members, and I am not sure why they were there. But anyways, after that we were taken in the back to see the model of the one bedroom suite and studio for Bay Lake Towers. We were then free to roam around, ask questions, and of course meet with a DVC agent to discuss purchasing. We left after we saw the model and were not pressured at all to buy.

They are not a hard sell and I recommend anyone who is curious to go because I really got a better understanding of how DVC works. I know right now we are not going to buy into it but we are considering it for the near future so it was good to have that info. And oh yeah, I got a pin for answering a question right:

It was fun and gave me a little bit of a Disney feel. We didn't go to the World this year so I was happy to get a piece of the magic so close to home :goodvibes

*Sorry the pics are blurry, they were taken with my Blackberry

Awesome. Thanks for the report.

I'm crazy curious about this place and about DVC. There is no way I'm going to purchase into DVC (my wife is not on board with the Disney vacation thing), but I'd love to go to satisfy my curiosity and get the "magic touch" so close to home.

Another awesome thing for a taste of the magic, you can pin trade with the CM's at the store! :thumbsup2

I noticed that...the woman running the session asked if anyone was a pin trader.

I highly recommend you go and bring your wife. My fiance was skeptical but after the presentation he is now saying we will definitely do this within the next few years. And if not, its 45 minutes of Disney, so what could be bad about that? :thumbsup2

Oh, I'll go. My wife will not. And if I were to bring up purchasing DVC she will either laugh in my face or tear my trachea out with her bare hands.

Thought you'd be interested in seeing the Official Disney Parks video on this event.

Anyone been there recently? Have the crowds died down?

Thanks for posting that Chad! I am actually headed over to Roosevelt Field today to do some shopping so I will try to check out the store to see if it's crowded. FYI though, Roosevelt Field Mall is ALWAYS crowded

They've had some big events at the original Doorway to Dreams in the suburban Chicago mall. That Deevy See character has been out here a few times. I have fun at the events, even though I don't buy more points. It's fun to see what incentives they're offering for add-ons, though.

:rotfl: OK OK..

Unfortunately I didn't make it over to Roosevelt Field today but I will keep an eye out next time I am there. Andrea (kimisabella on the boards) may possibly be doing a DIS event there. She told me that a few weeks ago. If I hear anymore details I will let you know.
