View Full Version : 9 days away from check-in, can I add DDP
Where's Pluto?

So, in hind sight, I am rethinking about the dining plan. We did it last year, and as I looked thru my receipts from last year (amazingly I still have them), I'm thinking it will save us money again. So here are my details, and I'd like an opinion if its worth adding and what you think the cost might be:
Currently have a room only reservation at CR using 40% pin code
Seasonal Passholders
Members of our party are me, dh, dd (5) and ds (9months)
Already have ADR's booked
If we add the plan, we'd add the deluxe plan (which we did last year), cause on some days we have (2) sit down meals.
Also have TIW card
We will be in the world for 4 nights/5 days.
I think I've seen on here that it can be done, and that I'd have to add tickets even though I already have them? How much are the tickets?
Thanks in advance for your answers, I know I should have made up my mind by now, but I am a last minute kind of person! :worship:

This is a math problem!! Math is NOT my strong suit!!
but I love the dis, and I read a lot of posts - because I thought about NOT getting the DP - so from my research, because you have the 40% off code - to add the DP you will have to cancel that reservation and then rebook - the Dining plan can only be added to "packages" (unless you are staying as a DVC member on points)
so you'd need to book a package (is free dining code available during your dates? and you want to upgrade free to the deluxe?)
because you have the TIW card and a 40% off code, most people will tell you you are getting a better deal this way!!
so relax - you are going to Disney!! You'll have the perfect vacation!! :wizard:

You would be booking a WDTC package, and then need to cancel your room only.
What is paid on your room only res cannot be transferred to the package.
Best if you just call or go on line and see what pricing you can get for a package.
However if I had the room only at a 40% discount and the TiW, I would just stick to that.
Making a room only into a package it is not really as easy as just adding tickets and dining. And if you don't want tickets, then you would even need to book a ticketless package for AP-ers.

The 40% discount would also have to apply to a package reservation, or you'd lose it, because you'd have to convert your reservation from a room only to a package (you'd also have to pay it off as soon as you convert it, if you were planning on paying it off at check-in). Not sure if the code you used applies to room-only reservations or if it would also apply to a package. Some of them do and some of them don't.
When you convert to a package, you will also have to add tickets for each member of your party. There's a lot of different pricing on the tickets. Depends on what you want. If you're passholders, you can buy a one-day ticket for everybody, and apply it toward renewing your passes when you do that. You can also ask about the availability of a ticketless package for AP holders, which would be the way to go. AP holders should really only have to buy tickets if they want the free dining promotion (which has expired).
