Its been years since Ive owned a sewing machine. In high school i took a quilting class and made several quilts (trip around the world, log cabin, double irish chain). I want to buy a new sewing maching and get into sewing clothes and accessories. Can anyone point me to good sewing websites to get started? Also, any hints on where and how you get your fabric and supplies cheap? I want to get some cheaper fabric for practicing. Thanks for any input you might have. Im hoping to go to disney next year with home made costumes, bags and clothes.

Joann's is going to have a pretty good sale on fabrics starting on Sunday.
Check out the Disboutiquers thread on the Disney for families board. They have a lot of good info and very talented sewers on it.
Also YouCanMakeThis.com is a good site to check out too.

Happy sewing. :goodvibes

I have been purchasing fabrics from my local thift stores and have
come across some great finds.
The prices can't be beat, I've even sold some of my
finds on Ebay, the ones I couldn't use.

Go to JoAnn's and sign up to receive their flier in the mail. Every time it comes there is at least one 40% off coupon. A lot of times they have a coupon celebration and I get at least 10 40% coupons. That is a great savings!

Other than that....for practice fabrics I would look at the discount scrap fabric at your local Walmart. I have gotten some for as little as 50 cents. I don't care what it looks like if I am just going to practice on it.
