Any campground recommendations would be helpful.

Are you planning a trip to Cedar Point? If so, that is the place to stay. If not....your choices aren't so good. Only ones I could recommend are Bayshore in Sandusky and East Harbor State Park in Marblehead (about 20 miles west)

possibly - not sure. I was looking at the KOA but it had bad reviews. Are you familiar with this area? What other tourist sites are within an hours driving distance? I'm assuming I won't want to stay for a whole week at an amusement park (unless it would be disney, of course :goodvibes). Thinking we could do Rock/Roll Hall of Fame and Cleveland Zoo maybe? Definately will look into the state park you recommended.

If you are coming "in season" May-Aug. you might want to check out our local islands in Lake Erie. Kelly's Island & Put-in-Bay. Both are accessible by a short ferry ride. Good day trips for families. However once the sun goes down the party crowd arrives. 2 hrs south of Sandusky (follow RT 250) will take you to one of the largest Amish communities in the country. Well worth spending the day. Berlin, Kidron, Mt. Hope, Charm are some of the local Amish towns. If you go to Cleveland for the Rock n Roll Hall of fame another interesting stop is the West 25th St. farmers market. Open Mon, Weds, Fri. Come hungry. Not only do they have fresh produce but some very good ethnic bakeries and butcher shops all under one roof.

While you are there, make sure you visit Callahan's Auto Parts museum.

We've stayed at Bayshore... fairly close to Cedar Point but the sites are VERY tiny and one on top of another.....
