We are stopped at "Southern Gates RV Park & Campground" off of I-75 exit 92 at Arabi, GA..

It is a old, well taken care of, pet friendly, clean,cable TV, has a pool, and a FISHING POND !! [
When you check in they give you homemade cookies and big milk bones for the puppies, :thumbsup2 And the folk are real friendly.

I would recommand this RV Park.

You must have brought these cold temperatures with ya. We have gone from record heat to record cold. Also, the FT has gone from empty to super-packed this past weekend. I could not believe how crowded it was this weekend. There was a grand gathering in our loop and it was packed with kids, bikes and golf carts. Of course nobody had lights on the bikes so it was tough maneauvering after dark in the loop. It was crazy. My car got hit twice by kids on bikes so we're not real happy now; kinda scratched up the door.

Yeah, I went looking for TCD also but he was never there. His site was sure decorated. Think I saw him on the golf cart once with one of his daughters but they were gone before I could say hi.

Let's hope it warms up alittle and the crowds stay away.

Went to Epcot today,, I've seen it much more busy,,but it wasnt slow by any means. had a great time,,and we did Sum of All thrills,,my son thought it was kinda lame,,I really enjoy'd it, :thumbsup2 The woman tending the front of the line told me so far no one has puked.
And right now after riding thru the Fort for our last of the evening ride, I think the Fort is a average of about 3/4 full.
There is a drainage ditch right behind our site, and I do mean it is a drainage ditch,,it's bout 2 to 2 1/2 feet deep,,but I did manage to catch about a 10 inch bass outta it, :lmao:,,if D can get the photo bucket to work we'll try to post some pics. It hit bout 73 or so today,,spose to hit 80 tomorrow, if it does hit 80 I may try the new Fort waterpark :woohoo:
Right now loop 100 and 700 seem to have the most decorations up.
We watched the firewerks thru the trees tonight while we walked the puppies, very nice !

Of course we didn't get where we requested so we are in 800 in the back where I had to take the dish out in the woods to get a signal so I could watch my Phillies win the championship! We may be moving tomorrow where I can get a better signal for the Worlds Series so we didn't even put the awning out yet.

Tonight we went to the campfire/singalong,,roasted mallows and hotdogs,left before the movie, which was Monsters Inc.
We had a bit of a time gettn the buggy parked at the campfire, Edgar (CM) helped us ,he was a really great guy,:thumbsup2

Didnt catch any fish today,,but didnt fish but a short while anyways.

I'm sure gonna check out the new Fort waterpark tomorrow and the hottub at the cabins,,the main pool was busy when we went by it tonight, but the cabins pool was DEAD !

And the Fort is over 3/4 full as I make this post tonight, :scared1:
They said it was gonna be another packed weekend.

Last night we smelled something not right in the camper,,(no it wasnt me Fort'n) and then Braden found it, smoke and fry'n com'n from the fuse box , :scared1: First thought,,the converter. Disney sent out maintenance to check the electric box , it was fine. We called mobile RV Maintenance, said he couldnt come til this morning,,and Disney offered us a CABIN to stay in for the night,,FOR FREE !! The RV repair came , fix'd the prob,,turned out to be wiring.

Okay, so today we fished with John,Erica, and Matt. Denise and Matt caught the fish today,,bream,,way cool, :thumbsup2
Then we all went swimming at the new Fort waterpark,,again,,WAY COOL !
Talk'd toRailmail again today, they have to go home tomorrow,,bummer.

Frank - we've used Camping Connection in the past for on site RV repair at the Fort. We've found them to be very good, and reasonably priced. How do you assess RV Mobile Repair? It's always good to have a back-up!

It was a good day yeasterday (except for the bus service) we went to the MK and had a great time. No waits longer than 10 min on most stuff and no shoulder to shoulder crowds. we got a golden pass from one of the transportation guys because of the long bus wait so we used it on splash mt. There was a party at the MK last night and it looked like it was gonna be a busy night with people streeming in with costumes (a lot of Capt. Jacks). well we will hang out here today and Kathy and Bailey will swim and i will do my Camping World run. I hope some Disers can come by tonight at get together between the 600 and the Meadow near the fishing dock.

A absolute beautiful morning at the Fort!! I MEAN !!

RV Mobile Repair,,the night of the trouble, he advised us what to do,,shut everything cept for 12 volt so we'd have lights. He came the next morning, RIGHT ON TIME :thumbsup2. He did a complete check of the fuse box , converter, and all of the wiring there-in. He did a excellent job of explain'n the problem, what he needed to do, he was very pro, quick, and reasonable price under the circumstan for the offer of the cabince. I WOULD use him again.

As for the cabin offer to stay in,,it was very late when all this happened, they sent a fellow down with a key to a cabin to stay in,,the night was REALLY beautiful, so we decided to open the windows an stay in the camper,,we called them at the front desk, thanked them for their thoughtfulness and declined the key.
As often as Disney upsets me, sometimes the do come thru, :thumbsup2

That may not be necessarily true. So far the only ones that are actually in the group reservation that have arrived is John. There are a few others arriving today that are actually in the group reservation. Those are the ones that should be in 400.

As I said before, there are a grand total of 24 sites that actually booked in the group reservation all arriving different dates with the most over Halloween weekend. By just weeding through all the threads, there are least that many families or more that indicated they would be there that time frame and booked outside the group reservation., so no, not everyone will be in the group loop.

It sounds like the weather is looking great!!! and everyone is having a wonderful time!!

Sounds like a similar problem we had when we stayed in the Fort - our converter did quit and we found out when the lights dimmed and our battery went dead, fridge control stopped (you would have thought the 120 volt would keep the fridge going, but I guess that controller was still 12 volt). The front desk directed us to an RV parts place out in Kissimee that had better prices than I expected. Swapped out the converter and everything was fine after that, just lost about 4 hours of the afternoon.

We had a great time, but then that's a given. Got to visit with Frank (born2fish) and Denise a couple of times and really enjoyed talking with them. It's good to put a face with our on-line chats. :surfweb: We sure hated to leave, but that's the way it goes.

Well, we drove all the way home after leaving the fort. Had a couple of instances on the freeway but kept on movin'. Pulled in the driveway at 12:30 am and realized that the place was dark as a dungeon, no security light, no landscape lights, security system wouldn't respond, garage door no open, guess what.......no juice!! :scared1: Well crap, we haven't had a power failure in over two years and naturally it has to happen when we're gone. DW called the power company and they called us back in about 5 minutes. I did some troubleshooting over the phone but no results. So, in less than an hour later a technician appears in the driveway. Turns out some poor squirrel has fried himself and blew a fuse in the transformer behind the house. And of course we're the only house on that transformer, so no one in the neighborhood has reported it. By 1:30 the yard is lit up like a Christmas tree and we're inspecting for damage. Security system tells us that power was lost at 11:44 am on Wed. Weather has been cool and freezers are full of still-frozen food, what a relief. :woohoo: So, today has been the normal catch-up of laundry :laundy:, yard-work, etc. We're already planning our next trip to the fort. Reservations were made last month and we'll be back in Dec. 2010.

What a GLORIOUS day this is , has been , still to come!

Last night a buncha fiends happened down at the marina to watch the fireworks, meet in the park lot, shot the bull, then being two hours past my bedtime, I headed to da camper. But from what I hear , there are a few fine folk who found their way to Seabee's site and try'd to teach each other how to , shall we say, how to drink "ice-coffee" party style, :banana:

This morn Rog, Jeff, an I went fish'n, and yes we actually caught a fish !:thumbsup2 I being the techno tard I am will havta let someone else post pics.

John went to AK, ran into the Wild Bunch, Rog went to MK today, Jeff went to the MK, we went swimming and are now headed out to eat.
Tomorrow we are headed to DHS and Rog may show to :confused3,

I havnt met up with Denny yet but hes over by John, we got to meet Whipperwhil (thats not how its spelled, but you know)I love her 60 rolls of ducttape w/ a gallon of glue, and they are really nice (but sick) folk, got the yuk stuff for a day or so.

Last night a few folk just kinda happened over at Johns site. Lornaduck came by for a breif hello, as did Cajunpeach. Tigger,n Bama (Kelly) was there, The Great Gonzo(Richard), Kagoguen (Keven), an Homebrew (Denny),an TnBob and can't forget his sweety granddaughter Bailey . And a part of Wild Bunch came by for a quick visit,,Kelly was not feel'n her best last night.

I can tell you that a lotta fiends hit parks yesterday,,D Braden an I hung at the Fort. We went to the Fort waterpark (had to do some sliding) and then to the pool cabins pool,,where we met a couple women (from the great state of Texas)who told us about one of the best places to learn about the Fort an Disney, the CAMPING DISBOARDS! She said she's never joined or posted but has lurked for a few years to find her info ,,and thats when we mention'd we do the boards too..I'm always amazed when I meet regular lurkers who don't post.

From loop'n last night I'd guess the Fort is bout 1/2 to 2/3 full, :confused3 Closer to 1/2 .

"Y'all" are some of the nicest, funniest people I've ever met and I can't wait for the next time we can get together. Denise - I'm sorry I wasn't able to stop to say good bye before I left. That whole 5:00 am fishing thing (or should I say "5:00 am sitting on the dock chit-chatting because it was pre-coffee and I was not functioning very well and couldn't fish" thing) really threw me for a loop and I had to go back to the cabin and sleep.

Yes,, the fish'n has been, very decent,,VERY fun,, I' have gottn to fish with Pirate Jeff, BDR, Rvusa, Scott, Denise Matt ,Erica, and sorta Karla. All good fish'n buddies,:thumbsup2

We made it home 11pm last night. How bitter sweet. Missing The Fort and the Fiends, glad the drive was over. Got The TT unpacked came in to post while waiting for the TT fairy :wizard:to come by and clean, guess she is busy. :lmao: I'll get some pix and my version of a TR posted as soon as I get some of the million things done I need to do. :laundy:

Well we are home from the Fort. And not because we want to be. I am how ever very grateful to have had the time I had there to spend with my lovely wife and son, gett'n to meet all the awesome fiends,, who are really awesome friends.
It is really amazing to me that today there still a genuine old fashion camaraderie amongst a group of folk, that can rarely be found in todays time. I have met many of those folk and am proud call them friends. There are some that I was not able to meet, but not because I didnt try or didn't want to, it just didnt work out. I'm sure there will always be another time. There are also some fine folk who couldnt come to this event, and I missed them (Auntie), and others who couldnt make it that I wish could have.
All I can say, if you have the opportunity to make a GG or to meet any of these fine folk,,do it,,its worth it.

TIDBITS FROM THE FORT :

1. BDRog won the fishing award for catch'n the biggest fish while at the Fort,,close 2'nd was Scot, Ami's husband (Mr.PolynesianPixie)

2. The coffee at the Meadows does in fact really SUCK as reported by ftwildernessguy.

3.The new Fort waterpark is very nice as are the new hot tubs. I'd swear there were folk from OTHER resorts swimm'n in the Fort pool.

We are so sorry that we didn't have more time to meet and spend with fellow Diser's. Our family comes over for this week and we have to spend time with them. I meet many new fiends and wish I had met more.
I do want to thank Carol for all the work she did for our group reservation and hosting the GG on the 31st, even if I didn't get over there. She did a great job for us.
If anyone is interested in going over July 4th 2010 I would consider looking into a group reservation for us, let me know. If we can get a break on price, why not do it that way again. Also let's start planning next Oct.
