Posting here as I have recently been diagnosed with GERD and I believe weight loss is suggested to help deal with it.
Anyone here dealing with this health issue as well as trying to lose weight? and I was wondering if it has helped?
If doing one will help with the other, that would be fantastic! :)

I can attest to the positive of eating less, thereby losing weight, to help my GERD. I have put on some of those pounds I've lost, so it continues to be a battle.
What I've found that works better for me is smaller portions and more eating times. The goal is to make 6 small meals and you will find that it is amazing. Be mindful that total calories in for the day (eating) must be less than total calories out (exercising/moving). You don't want to eat for at least 3 hours before lying down. If you can elevate the head of your bed, better. It does not work with DH and me in the same bed.
I've managed to cut beverages to non carbonated, and mostly water. Only an occassional fizzy lifting drink. Chocolate is minimal and I've discontinued pepperment and gum. I miss the things we are not supposed to eat, but have been mostly doing well with that.
Hope you find the success that will make it easy for you to feel better.

Well, thanks for that. As it stands, I feel awful. None of the meds or diet changes, cutting out foods, have done anything for me yet. It's been three weeks since the diagnosis, and I actually feel worse now than I did before I went to the Dr. Even drinking water bothers me. :(
I have been feeling so lousy that I haven't been eating very much at any meal, but I'll try the 6 meal thing. THX, lori
