That's right everyone, I am going back to Disney World!

First off, :welcome: to yet another one of my pre-trip reports. These things get kind of addicting don't they?! If you haven't read my other TRs, I'm Sarah and a big lover of all things Disney (this is the first time I've had 2 TRs going at once...I'm working on finishing my summer report which you can check out HERE (http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2268856)). As you can tell from my signature, I've been to Disney World several times and never get tired of the magic. Like so many fellow DISers I usually start thinking about going back as soon as a trip is over. :teeth:

Over the years we've taken a lot of family trips but as my sisters and I got older it was harder to plan trips when we could all go at the same time (mostly in part to conflicting school schedules!). So, like my title says, this trip is just going to be me and my dad. It's our "spring break", if you will. I know some people cringe at the thought of going during peak times but we've done it before and really, it's not all that bad. Yes, it's crowded but definitely doable.

I hope you decide to join in on all the fun! Less than 6 months to go!

That's 2 people in one day,
I don't know if my heart can take it.
Callie called me this morning said she is going to WDW for spring break
with her roommates.
One of the girls parents have a timeshare in Orlando and
they are going to:

1. Drive-ug.
2. Go to Universal
3. Go to the beach.
4. Go to WDW:cool1:

I'm suppose to plan, I mean, find out the hours and best days.
I think they will do okay, because they plan on doing the parks during the week, and I personally don't think the parks are crowded during the week, it's mainly the weekends.

Um,
now to hear your plans.
Ya think I should go along and be a chaperone?

OK, so here are a few of the basics for this trip:

The cast:
Already covered that, just me and my dad. My sister and mom will have just been there in January (strangely, so will Dad...he's getting his money's worth out of his AP!) and my other sister will sadly still be in school.

Dad asked if I wanted to go by myself, and while I think that could be interesting I figured I'd probably end up getting sad being there alone. :sad1:

The dates:
When we first made these reservations, we had them for April 2-10 at Saratoga Springs, a Friday through Saturday. Sounds great right? Well, there were two little problems with that:

1.) We'd be gone over Easter and my mom wouldn't be very happy if we were out of town.

2.) The Brewers' home opener is April 5. :rotfl: Some of you might know we're big Brewer fans and go to quite a few games. In fact, we briefly considered waiting until June to do a Disney trip since they're playing out in Anaheim...hello Disneyland! That idea was short lived...It might sound stupid but after missing this year's home opener I kind of want to go again next year.

So with those things in mind, the latest we could leave is the 6th. I still wanted to get an extra day or two so Dad ended up calling DVC to see if there was any possibility of adding on a couple nights. After all, we're talking about Easter/Spring Break here and there's always the chance nothing would be available. Luckily, it turned out to not be a problem. We ended up getting April 6-12, 2010. Five whole days in Disney World!

The resort:
Like I said, our reservation was originally made for Saratoga Springs since that's our home resort. When the 7-month window rolled around and we were able to check the availability of other resorts, Dad asked me what my first choices would be: I said Old Key West and Kidani Village.

I was pretty surprised when he told me that we could pretty much get any DVC resort for those dates. In the end, we got a savannah view room at Kidani Village!!! Even though we've stayed at the Animal Kingdom Lodge, I'm really excited to see the new villas, even moreso after seeing some pictures in other people's TRs (that means you, brookelizabeth!). And there's nothing like looking out your window and seeing a giraffe!

We booked our flights yesterday on two different airlines...and it only cost $200 both ways! :woohoo:

Honestly though, I'm not excited...:teeth:

wow that is crazy how soon you are going back!!!!!

you are starting to sound like me hehe :) Have you consiered doing a CP or PI after school? You'd be in heaven being able to go to WDW when you wanted!! I know of people that were miserable working at WDW but on their days off it was heaven knowing it was free to go to WDW and an ocean was an hour away!

I've stayed at AKL and saw that giraffe out my window, it's pretty cool!!!!!

Hey Sarah if you ever end up going solo, let me know!!!! I can pop down for a weekend pretty easily...;)

In fact I'm considering March 8-12 (ish) since that's my spring break....but so far if I go it will be solo. I actually kind of like to idea of trying Disney solo....except for the cost! I've traveled solo in Europe and while meals can get lonely, I like not having to consult with anyone else and just doing whatever I feel like, right when I want! I'm just waiting for some new discount codes to come out...or hopefully a PIN!!!

Well I think that is a sign then that you need to go! haha! We were so surprised the airfare was so low for that time of year.

If the Harry Potter stuff is open by the time we go (which I'm not counting on :sad2:) I'd love to go back to Universal too.

haha, I know, we've actually had these reservations for a while now but just officially decided to go.

I did consider doing the CP the semester after I student taught (isn't that what you did?) but stupidly didn't. :sad2: My cousin's doing one of the PIs now and she loves it...she's actually trying to extend it until June.

When we were there last May they were still doing all the construction so we didn't see too many animals out our window. But I do think towards the end of the trip I saw a giraffe too. :goodvibes

YAY!! How exciting! Yes, I thought about going alone too b/c no one else wanted to come and my parents said they'd send me. Sounds like a good idea until you realize it would be very lonely!!

I don't blame you about the Brewers opener! My parents used to take me out of school for the Indians home opener and even in college I flew home to see it. I don't know what is going to happen this year when I probably have to get a "real" job and won't be able to go :( So I know what you mean about missing it!!!!! We always try to do side trips to and go see them on the road and check out things in other cities - you should do it!!

I am SOOOO JEALOUS OF KIDANI!!! You are going to love it. I only stayed at AKL but looking at the savannah every morning was just very relaxing and peaceful. if you love animals you will just love it. How exciting!!!!

Aww, just a few weeks earlier than us. Too bad I'm not still at Marquette because that's when their spring break is. But you'll be there over my dad and sister's birthdays. hehe

I know, on our trip last Dec. when I went to meet the fairies alone even that kind of stunk, and that was just for an hour!

haha yeah, we've only been to a couple home openers but I did skip class a couple years ago. Emma has yet to go to one and being the die-hard she is...LOL! After going to Philly this year and seeing their stadium it would be a lot of fun to go to a road game. Though we've taken a few sports-related trips before and usually we are a curse to our teams. :rotfl::rolleyes:

The new villas should be awesome...can't wait!

I was thinking of a way to make this PTR a little more interesting. When we go to Disney World, we aren't really obsessive about planning. We don't make a lot of ADRs and we usually don't decide which park we want to go to until the day before. LOL! Maybe that's what happens when you've been so many times...

It turns out that this trip is my "sweet sixteen" of Disney World trips. Crazy, huh?! I know a lot of Disney fans have to put up with people asking "You're going to Disney World again?!" or "Don't you ever get sick of it?" For me, no, I don't ever get sick of it. It's always changing and I just have so many memories from all our previous trips. So I thought it would be fun to post some "Top 10" lists of favorite things (both in the theme parks and just Disney in general)...things that keep us turning to Disney time and time again, things that I always look forward to each and every trip. I guess I should give a shout-out to Lady Lallie because I kind of got the idea from her Disney warm fuzzies she's doing in her PTR (thanks LL!). :thumbsup2 Feel free to share your own favorites!

I now present to you...

Sarah's Disney Top Tens! :wizard:

TOP TEN FAVORITE ATTRACTIONS

10. It's A Small World
Yeah, a lot of people can't stand this ride but I like it! It's one of the rides I remember the most from some of our first trips to Disney World. Plus it's a Disney classic. :thumbsup2

9. Test Track
I remember waiting close to two hours to ride this when it first opened. Always thrilling!
http://photos-b.ak.fbcdn.net/photos-ak-sf2p/v252/193/8/20305212/n20305212_33510445_7556.jpg

8. Dinosaur
Even though parts of the ride scare the you-know-what out of me it's always a must-do.

7. Peter Pan's Flight
Another Disney classic. Even though it doesn't have the thrill factor that some of the other attractions do it's still an enjoyable ride. I also love how it's different from the other dark rides in that you get to "fly" through the story.

6. Kilamanjaro Safaris
I think it's so cool how you can go to Florida and get to see so many of these amazing animals up close.

5. The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror
I have to admit this was not one of my favorites when I first rode it. Like one of my tags says, I'm kind of a wimp when it comes to thrill rides and I remember holding on for dear life the first time I went on TOT. But after a few tries, I started to like it more and more. The whole story is so neat and when you drop those 13 stories it's actually pretty amusing! Love it!
http://photos-b.ak.fbcdn.net/photos-ak-snc1/v1447/193/8/20305212/n20305212_34373393_1865.jpg

4. Expedition Everest
Another great attraction with amazing theming. You definitely get a rush when you come plummeting down the mountain backwards and the Yeti's pretty cool too. ;)

3. Big Thunder Mountain Railroad
This was the first roller coaster I ever went on so for that reason it holds a special place in my heart. I think I was 10 years old at the time and remember walking up to the ride with my heart racing because I was so scared. I ended up loving it and it's one of those rides we always try to do a couple of times each trip.

2. Toy Story Mania
I think this one's pretty self-explanatory! TSM is so addicting, you just want to ride it over and over and over.
http://photos-g.ak.fbcdn.net/photos-ak-sf2p/v252/193/8/20305212/n20305212_33510346_9483.jpg

1. Soarin'
In all honesty I think this is probably one of the greatest Disney attractions EVER. We first rode it in Disneyland and when I heard they were building it at Epcot I was sooo excited. On our trip in 2005 they were doing the previews for it and we were lucky enough to get on. Even my mom, who is not into a lot of the bigger rides, loved it. The scenery is amazing and I love the soundtrack too. It's also so neat coming off and hearing everyone clap. Seriously, what other attraction gets an applause?! If I could work at any attraction it would without a doubt be Soarin. :thumbsup2

How could I have missed this? You have been posting over on my pTR, and I never noticed you had one going. OMG, I feel bad.

On the Kidani topic, it is absolutely AMAZING!!!!! We love it so much and are happy it is our home resort. It truly is fantastic.

It's so cool that you and your dad are taking this trip together. I seem to be the only one in my family (outside of Bryan and the boys) that feels so strongly about WDW.

I love your top 10. It really is difficult sometimes to narrow it down. I was thinking about doing something along those lines for a countdown for the boys once the trip got closer. I was thinking for each number they remove there would be an attraction they enjoy underneath. I agree about Soarin. I just about died the other day. My sister and I went into Bath & Body Works because they were having an awesome sale. Well, I smelled a lotion called Rainkissed Leaves. OMG! I immediately got images of being on Soaring and imagining that moment you fly over the ocean and they filter in the smell of the ocean. IT SMELLS JUST LIKE IT! I had to buy some just so I could smell it over and over again.

Everything looks great! I can't wait to hear more.

Nah, don't feel bad. Glad you found me though!

I'm jealous Kidani is your home resort. We stayed at the AKL last May and loved it so I'm excited to see the new villas.

OK, that is so funny you mention Soarin and B&BW. I actually have some of that rainkissed leaves lotion and never even thought about Soarin! Yesterday we went to Pier One and they had some home fragrance stuff...my sister smelled one of them and told me to smell it and asked if it reminded me of anything. I said no and she said "Well, it reminds me of Soarin." Then as soon as she mentioned that I could totally understand what she was saying. It was called "oceans" and it made me think of the ocean scene too! I should've bought it...hehe

Love the top 10 list! I need to start thinking of things like this to keep my PTR interesting as well!

I know, I do like the graphics but as annoying as Stacey could be I grew to really like her and all those quotes. "HEADS UP, HAIRPIN TURN!" (sorry, couldn't resist...:rotfl:) Hmm, maybe that should be my next Top Ten list, favorite Stacey quotes!

you don't have that link by chance do you!? My brother would die to see that lol

Here's a couple of them...the old Stacey version and then only the best resort TV loop ever, the one with the Zip-A-Dee-Do-Dah...Tip for Today! LOVE IT!

I'm here now! :yay:

I'm glad my pictures helped fuel the "need" for Kidani. :goodvibes I will have MANY, MANY more on my TR after our December trip. :thumbsup2

I love your Top 10! What a great idea. I might have to borrow it....if I ever get around to updating my PTR.

Yay, you found me!

I can't wait to see all your pictures from your Dec. trip! But the ones you have in your current TR are awesome.

Caught up. I love your top ten list! I googled Stacey and found the old show on veoh. It was a crappy version so maybe someone has a better one out there, but sooo fun to watch!

Just posted the resort TV links above! :thumbsup2

Happy Friday!

Since I'm not at school today (I came home yesterday feeling pretty crummy so I decided to take the day off) and it's miserable outside I thought I'd do another update.

As I've mentioned before we're Disney veterans so now part of the fun for us is exploring all the little secrets in the parks. And what better way to do that than to take a tour?! In one of the issues of Celebrations magazine there was an article about some of the different tours that Disney World offers and some of them sound really interesting. Dad and I are thinking about doing one of them on our trip. There are two that I'm most interested in:

1. Backstage Safari Tour
Obviously this one takes place at the Animal Kingdom and according to the Disney World website the tour is "a 3-hour insider's look at the innovative ways that Disney Cast Members care for its animal inhabitants." Since I love animals and the Animal Kingdom this one could be a lot of fun!

2. Disney's Keys to the Kingdom Tour
This one is a little bit longer and gives a history of Walt Disney World. One of the things that is intriguing about this tour is that you get to see some backstage areas including the Utilidors! I've always wondered what those were like...

I don't think you can sign up for anything until 180 days out, like ADRs but it's something to consider. Plus it'd be helpful to get the park hours so we could figure out when we might want to do something like that.

So what do you guys think? Have any of you done a tour before? What did you think of it?

I have done both, not official ones but they were a part of my training at MK and AK. I LOVED the historical aspect of MK. My trainer is a tour guide of Keys..Claire is her name. and she set up our tour as if we were on Keys but she went more indepth with our group. We discussed EVERYTHING under the sun. The only thing we did not see was the castle suite but I was lucky enough to see it when I worked at BBB. You get to see the tunnels but they are nothing to write home on. They do indeed smell, leak, and we have subway! The main areas where the CMs typically are (cafe, dressing rooms, etc.) I don't think they show you on the tour so hopefully not all of the magic will be ruined!!!

Safari is really cool. My friend took the tour with her mom and she worked at AKL but took the AK tour with us as training. She said the tour was very similar. The backstage areas at AK are huge and do ride bikes to get from place to place!! If they do an extended safari it's really cool to not hear the voiceover but to actually have someone explain hidden things!! You get a water bottle too so I mean that is cool!

Well, hope that helps a bit. If I were to personally pay for one, I would do more MK. I enjoy the historical aspect. I love animals but MK is MK and enough said!

Thanks for all of your input! That really helps a lot. The one reason why we are talking about the AK tour is because we think that the rest of my family might be interested in the KTTK tour so it might be better to save that one. Who knows though. I'd love to do them both!

Surprisingly, I haven't done either one of those. But, we really want to do the Keys to the Kingdom Tour in June.

Yeah, the only tour we've ever done is the Family Magic Tour. It'd be fun to do another one.

Hey! Loved your top ten list! Might have to steal it for my PTR if I ever decide to post on it, haha!

I've thought about the Keys to the Kingdom tour but then I didn't know if it would "spoil" the magic or not. The one at AK sounds amazing, though!!!

I've only done one tour, the Segway around Epcot - and it was great! Both you have here interest me, and I hope we'll be able to do another tour at some point....we probably could have figured in something for December because we'll have the built in babysitters (grandma and grandpa!), but - all well! Good reason for another trip! :goodvibes

I think I would like KTTK a tad more because I'm a history nerd. BUT, if you think your whole family will want to do KTTK, go AK! It sounds just amazing!

Yeah, part of me wonders if it would spoil the magic but the other part of me doesn't really care. LOL! I think it would still be really interesting.

The Segway tour does seem fun too. Maybe when Henry is a little older you guys could do the Family Magic Tour...that one was great for kids (and even us older kids too, hehe)!

Yeah, we'll just have to decide what we want to do. It might turn out that Dad and I are the only ones interested in doing a tour!

Hi there! Thanks for commenting on my PTR. I'm really excited to see that you're writing one too! What do you teach?

I really liked your Top 10 list, especially since you explained it instead of just writing out the names of the rides. Haha, is that too teacher-y of me? I love those details!

I would LOVE to experience the Keys to the Kingdom tour! Have you read The Hidden Magic of WDW? I absolutely love it because there are only so many books I can read that describe the rides. I love the extra info. I'll have much more to look for in April!

Hey Rachel! Thanks for commenting on MY PTR. hehe I am certified for 1st-8th grade. Right now I'm just subbing (hoping either a long-term or full-time position comes around) but I would love to teach first, second, or third grade. I think the younger kids are so cute. :goodvibes

haha, no, that is not too teacher-y of you to say that. That's actually kind of why I did explain myself! :rotfl:

I haven't read the Hidden Magic book but have read all the Imagineering Field Guides. I have one of the trivia books but haven't read the whole thing. It's so interesting reading about all the extra details and then actually seeing it all in the parks. Makes you appreciate it even more. :thumbsup2

UGGGGHHH, I am so mad, I just had a whole update typed up and it wouldn't post! Guess I'll have to do some of it later. :sad2:

I did want to share this though because I thought it was pretty interesting. I just saw a blog that mentioned a new show at the Magic Kingdom called "Tiana's Showboat Jubilee". In case you don't know, Tiana is the newest Disney princess from The Princess and the Frog. All I can say is this show looks sooo cool and I can't wait to see the movie when it comes out! It seems like it's going to be done in the style of all the "classic" Disney movies like Cinderella and Aladdin. I wonder how long they'll keep the show running...:confused3

Here's the link to the blog: Tiana's Showboat Jubilee (http://www.disunplugged.com/2009/10/26/tianas-showboat-jubilee-debuts-at-disneys-magic-kingdom/)

Also I think we might try making some ADRs tomorrow since they're going back to the 180-day mark. The only one I want right now is Tony's at the Magic Kingdom. We haven't eaten there in so long and every time we try to get it nothing's available. So wish us luck!

up next: Another Top Ten List!

Good luck w/ADR's!

I saw the thing about that show and I don't know what to think about it. The Disney Store here has a ton of stuff for the movie and it is set up the same as all of the "classic" princess movie stuff. I didn't know it was at MK too! I thought it was just at Disneyland?! Anyways, I will check it out and let you know how it is!

Can't wait for the next list!

I can't offer anything extra about the tours since we haven't done any of them.;) However, I look forward to hearing what you have to say about them.

I have been reading about the new show for Tiana. I think we would probably skip it, but I think that would change if I had a daughter.

Good luck with your Tony's ADR in the AM.:goodvibes

Well, bad news about the ADRs. Today was the first day that they changed back to the 180 days out thing so both the phone lines and the website were all tied up. :sad2: It really stinks because there must've been that many more people with everyone who is less than 180 days but not quite at 90 days. Grrrr. Guess we'll have to keep trying. If we can't get it, it won't be too big a deal. But I have to give you guys credit who all do the dining plan and you've got to make half a dozen or so reservations! That's crazy! It's hard enough for us to get one! :rotfl: Oh well. I'm thinking though we should probably decide soon which tour we want to do. Don't want to run into any trouble with that either.

So that's my trip-related news for the day. Now onto my next Top Ten List!

As I've mentioned before, I'm not just a Disney World fan, I'm a Disney fan. I love anything and everything Disney and when I say that I'm not joking. Part of that is being a fan of Disney movies. We all know that over the years Disney has created some awesome movies. I'll share my favorites in another list but one of the things that makes movies so memorable is the music. This is only going to contain movie music...theme park music can be a separate list. ;) So here we go:

Sarah's Top Ten Disney Songs!!

(if you're in the mood for some Disney tunes just click the name of the song ;))

10."Let's Go Fly a Kite" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UGaTfGHELV4&feature=related) (Mary Poppins)

I was never really a fan of Mary Poppins but after seeing the Broadway show I gained a new appreciation for it. The Broadway version of this song was amazing but the original's pretty good too. I love the line "let's go fly a kite and seeend it soooooaring!" Makes me think of Soarin...

9."Once Upon a Dream" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C-6fYCMqSN4) (Sleeping Beauty)

Again, not a huge Sleeping Beauty fan but I do like this song.

8. "We're All In This Together" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NDHYZtwjFTs) (High School Musical)
Yes, that is right, I'm including a HSM song in my list. As cheesy as the movies may be I'm not going to lie, the music is pretty catchy. They even played this one at my college graduation.

7. "Zip A Dee Doo Dah" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LcxYwwIL5zQ) (Song of the South)
I think when you hear this one almost everybody would immediately think of Disney. If only they would release the movie now. :guilty:

6. "Under the Sea" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jgA2xo0HYrE) (The Little Mermaid)
Just one of those Disney classics. :thumbsup2

5. "I Just Can't Wait to be King" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YGIoRUlzE2Q) (The Lion King)
This was always my favorite song from the Lion King. I remember when we first got the soundtrack I would listen to it over and over and over again.

4. "So Close" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UtMM2PXBm5M) by Jon McLaughlin (Enchanted)
A lot of people might not even recognize this song but it's definitely one of my favorites. It was actually nominated for an Academy Award after Enchanted came out. It's such a cute song and if you listen to the video, the instrumentals around the 2 min. mark are amazing. The only word I can think of to describe it is sweeping (does that sound weird?! :confused3). But I love love love this one.

3. "A Whole New World" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-kl4hJ4j48s&feature=related) (Aladdin)
This is just another one of those great Disney classics. And it's one of the best parts of the movie!

2. "Ever Ever After" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-nRGC720Qak&feature=related) by Carrie Underwood (Enchanted)
First off, Carrie Underwood is one of my favorite American Idol winners. Second of all, this song is just so upbeat and happy it's hard not to enjoy it.

And my all-time favorite Disney song is...

1. "When You Wish Upon A Star" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cWjpi9vOxkg) (Pinocchio)
I don't know how anyone can be a Disney fan cannot like this song. It's used in everything from commercials to the movie openings. While looking at the video comments on youtube, one person said that it's like Disney's anthem. I think that pretty much sums it all up.

So did I miss any good ones? What are your favorites?

YAY for a new Top Ten List! I may have to borrow your idea in the future :thumbsup2

I love "So Close"! It's such a mushy, romantic song that I would definitely consider as a wedding song! Haha, not that I'm getting married any time soon.

I like how you put the links there! One of my favorites that's not on your list is "Bonjour" from Beauty & the Beast. My favorite part is when the baker goes, "Marie! The baguettes! Hurry up!" When I imagine my debut on Broadway , I'm singing that song.

The Segway tour does seem fun too. Maybe when Henry is a little older you guys could do the Family Magic Tour...that one was great for kids (and even us older kids too, hehe)!

What a great idea! I'm going to have to keep that in mind - he'll be old enough before we even know it!

That is awful about being unable to make ONE ADR!!! Ugh. What a headache. I'm sure you'll get it if you keep trying though, I bet people today are just booking whatever, and things will shift around in time. Overall, I'm still glad they went back to the 180 days versus 90 though, after this first initial mess, it will get better.

I've actually never thought about what my favorite Disney songs are! I think "When you Wish Upon a Star" is up there though - makes me think of Wishes and gives me goosebumps!!! :rotfl: I also love "Under the Sea", my cousin and I made up a dance in the swimming pool to that song when we were younger-we still laugh about that, and can remember certain moves to it!!!! :lmao:

I love this top ten list. Thanks for the youtube links.... I'll look at each one of them when I'm home from work. :goodvibes I have favorites for two different reasons. Either I grew up loving them personally, or I love them because my children love them.

One Jump Ahead (Aladdin)
A Dream is a Wish Your Heart Makes (Cinderella)
I'll Make a Man Out of You (Mulan)
Everybody Wants to Be a Cat (Aristocats)
Go the Distance (Hercules)
I Will Go Sailing No More (Toy Story)
When She Loved Me (Toy Story II)
Bare Neccessities (Jungle Book)

I like your list! But you are missing pretty much every song from Cinderella and I love all of those! I want "So This Is Love" to be my wedding song...well first I need to find a boyfriend hahaha! You've got some good ones on your list too. It's so hard to choose! When She Loved Me is so sad!

The other day I had my ipod with me when I was going to school and I kid you not, literally every song was a Disney song (except for maybe 2). It was kinda spooky.

Sorry to hear about your ADR's. I'm anxious to see which tour you decide to go on! If I had enough time on this trip I would've LOVED to do the Animal Kingdom one.

Yes, I agree with the Ashley Tisdale version of "Kiss the Girl." A couple weeks ago at school the class I was subbing in was watching The Lion King and at the very beginning when they sing Circle of Life I was like geez this song is awesome. That whole opening scene is WOW. :worship:

I AGREE! That's my other favorite part of the song! Haha, the only issue I have with that scene is that sheep eats a piece of the page. It bothered me ... uhhh, botherS me so much! Haha, I don't want a sheep eating a corner and ruining my book!

I just love that she gets a free book. Haha, that really enticed me as a kid. And even now! I think I need to watch the music video now except for the fact that my dad's in the kitchen, and he's going to wonder what I'm doing when I should be getting ready for work ... ;)

YES! Some day we will have a DIS meet. That would be so fun!!!

BOO! Sorry to hear you had issues w/ your ADRs. It sounds like it was a nightmare! Have you had any luck today? I wish there was an easier, less stressful way of getting ADRs. It's so intense! :rotfl:

Loving your top 10 lists! I'd have to add:

"Be Our Guest" - Beauty and the Beast
"Poor Unfortunate Souls" - Little Mermaid (Love me some Ursula!!)
"Zip A Dee Doo Dah" - Songs of the South
"Bibbidi Bobbidi Boo" - Cinderalla

I love Disney music!!!

I'm going to post an ADR update soon...;)

I like the ones you added too. Disney music is awesome. At camp last year they had a CD of Disney songs and all of the staff would sing every song. haha!

Happy Teacher's Convention!! Two days of no school!

ADR UPDATE
I was subbing today (they had a huge Halloween parade...SOOOOO CUTE!) but when I got home there was some good news. Dad tried calling again today for ADRs and was finally able to get through. Apparently there were not a lot of openings at Tony's (must be a popular choice!) but we were able to get something. Woo hoo! It's a little later than we would like but atleast we got something for the time being. I still think it's crazy how you have to think about dining so far in advance.

TOUR UPDATE
We were also talking about the tours and I think I want to do the Animal Kingdom one. The Keys to the Kingdom tour is a little bit longer so that would take up a good chunk of one of our park days. I think we are going to save that for some other time when we're there for more than five whole days.

RANDOM
I also got something in the mail today for the Disney Visa card saying I was preapproved for one so I might try applying for one of those. I've always wanted a Disney credit card...haha! Plus it said that I'd get a $200 rewards card that could be applied towards Disney merchandise including park tickets. I'm going to be needing a new park ticket for this trip. So we'll see.

Have a great weekend and Happy Halloween!

yay you got an ADR!!!!! My CM site was back up and working today but it did not have the cast holiday discount option avalible for use so I ended up emailing WDW and they responded saying that IT has not been able to upload the pages to the CM site yet but to call wdw-cast to make my dining reservations. Ugh! I would just like to print out my confirm numbers and/or have the freedom to make changes but whatever I'm glad I got what I got and hopefully they figure their mess out!!!

I have a Disney Visa card and I LOVEEEE mine!! I've had it since I started college about 6 years ago for "emergency" reasons only and gas and groceries. Now that I have a big girl job I tend to use it more to get points to use towards the trips :) I know my aunt and uncle saved up and were able to use theirs for the entire trip except flights and still had points left over for gift shops!!

Woo! Glad to hear you got Tony's. I've never been there. What's it like?

I love to listed to Live 365 (http://www.live365.com/cgi-bin/directory.cgi?genre=search&searchdesc=disney+world&x=0&y=0). They have a DIS station, and some other stations that feature nothing but Disney music. The best part...they have ride audio too, so one minute you'll hear something from Beauty and the Beast and the next you'll be listening to the entire (old) audio from TTA! :lovestruc

You have to register for Live 365, but it's free! You can pay to have commercial free radio, but the commercials really aren't that long so they don't bother me. I'm listening to Fantasmic! right now. So cool!

Oh, and I have a Disney Visa too. I use it to pay utilities, cable, etc...and then turn around and pay it off in full. I've earned so many points this way! I just wish it was more than 1%. Still...nice to earn Disney points!!

My son got one in the mail too, I told him to apply so I could have the $200 gift card.:rotfl: Ya, that went over real well.

Happy teacher convention day.
I'm surprised the convention was still on this morning, ya know with the swine flu in all.

I wish Disney would make up it's mind with the ADR's. But I am really looking forward to making mine on-line, if and when I return. I'm waiting for the announcement for the Tri-athalan, nothing yet. But I can now run 2 minutes with 5 minutes intervals walks. Yesterday, I rode my bike 7 miles, and then did the 3 mile run/walk. I was a pile of sweat when I finished.

Have a Happy Halloween.

Your son should get it, then you'd have an excuse to go back. ;)

Yeah, it seems like all the teachers I've talked to don't even go to the convention. My sister's student teaching this semester and she said the teachers at her school had a work day today and then have tomorrow off. I think once I have a full-time position I am going to say forget convention, I'm going to WDW. :rotfl: Just kidding.

If and when you return?! Don't say that! Are you still planning on going in April 2011?

This is random, but I just found something that gave me the giggles!

I went back to my User CP subscribed threads list because I wanted to find the thread about the trolls in Norway (the little ones that they hide). Since I realized that we'll be there during the Flower & Garden Festival, I got excited about it and checked to see if there was any info that I didn't quite pay attention to the first time since I didn't expect to ever see it.

The last post was from you! Haha, I just thought it was funny, I don't know why :goodvibes

Hi guys! Sorry I've really been slacking lately in updating my PTR (and my TR for that matter). Finally we have something worth mentioning! My dad told me he booked us for the Animal Kingdom tour. Woo hoo! I'm so excited for that...it should be a lot of fun. I briefly mentioned what it's all about a few posts back but here's the full description from the Disney World official site:

Do you love animals? Are you curious how Disney's Animal Kingdom theme park looks after more than 1,700 animals representing 250 different species?

Find out how on this behind-the-scenes walking tour that offers a revealing look at the new and creative ways Disney's wildlife specialists meet the unique challenges of animal care and behavioróall while running a lushly landscaped Disney Theme Park and promoting wildlife conservation.

Get up close to a variety of spectacular and majestic animals in their backstage habitats. Talk with animal keepers as you visit the Animal Nutrition Center, explore the state-of-the-art veterinary hospital and discover other backstage facilities. Learn the story of how every day 3 tons of food is prepared, distributed and fed to the animal residents of Disney's Animal Kingdom theme park.

Seeing as I do love animals, this should be right up my alley. :thumbsup2

 Flight back home in the late afternoon (I guess that's a good thing we'll get a few extra hours in WDW!)
:wizard: Start planning for Spring Break 2011! :thumbsup2

Like I said this is pretty rough...the April park hours are out but who knows where we'll go each day.

And random but guess who got their Disney Visa credit card today?! :teeth:

Oh yeah, I also was curious if anybody has heard anything else about The Wizarding World of Harry Potter opening. I know they've been saying spring 2010 and I would LOVE for it to be open when we go but somehow I doubt that'll be the case...Just wondering though, so if anybody has any more info please share!

Have a good night!

Well, not like it was any surprise it was going to be going on while we're there but I saw they released the official dates for the Flower and Garden Festival!

The festival will run MARCH 3 - MAY 16, 2010. Seems like it ends a little earlier than it has in the past. I wonder what the theme will be...:scratchin

When we were there last May the F&GF was going on and it was so neat seeing all the flowers and topiaries. I'll leave you with a few pictures!

The festival will run MARCH 3 - MAY 16, 2010. Seems like it ends a little earlier than it has in the past. I wonder what the theme will be...

They actually extended the Flower and Garden Show the last 2 years.
It used to be done by April 20.

Love these pictures! Can I ask everyone's opinion on the crowds and cost of going to WDW during March? After December 2010, I would love to go again in March of 2012 once Fantasyland is done. How does March compare to August?

Yeah, I have a feeling it's probably the same on the safari tour but who knows.

Pictures are not allowed on the Backstage Safari Tour.

Your Flower and Garden Festival pics are so so so good! I've been lurking on the photography board for the past few days because it's interesting to see the different perspectives for the pictures of the same ol' spots. I really likes yours! I like that you zoomed in some or you didn't take them from the front like everyone else would. Good job! Haha, my picture taking skills need work so I hope to take good ones when I'm there!

Glad you like the pictures.

What time of March are you thinking about going? I wouldn't think it would be too bad unless there are early spring breaks. :confused3 As far as weather goes, I would definitely say March is better than August. It's warm and you don't have to worry about hurricanes. Sorry, I probably didn't help much.

Well I guess I'm getting way ahead of myself. I was just thinking the F&G Festival would be a great time to go. We've done four August trips now so I'd like to try different times without too much interruption to the kids school schedules. But hey... I've got a few years to plan that out.

Yeah, I hear ya on that. When we were younger we'd always go in Jan. or whatever but once my sisters and I got older my parents didn't like taking us out of school. We've been lucky now to get to go during so many different times of the year. I think the only months we've never been now are June, July, September, and November!

:cool1: Did someone have a baby? and want to stay home longer? The gym teacher at our h.s. and his wife are expecting a baby anyday now. He took 2 weeks off. His wife works in Slinger and she is taking a 4 month leave of absentence, when she goes back to work her dh is going to take a 4 month leave and then it will be summer, so the baby won't have to go to a babysitter till the start of school next Fall.

Yeah, it sounds like the teacher must've had the baby Thursday night. I got a call from the principal and she wanted me to come in Friday but I already had another assignment already so I'm going to start tomorrow already. And keep working there until the end of February. :yay::yay:

I mean, Disney is great and if you're less than 5 months so am I* but I know that the job situation must have been stressful for you (recently checked the teacher thread on the CB too). Woohoo!!!

And of course, I'm looking forward to your next Top Ten list! They're so much fun to read!

They've been pretty good. State testing is going on right now so I had to give that to a group of 5th graders and then 4th grade starts today. I've also been doing a lot of observing/getting to know the kids and other teachers. It's also nice that I only have to drive 15 minutes to get to school (much closer than the other district I was working in)!

OK, I should be finishing up my TR but I really don't want it to end . Instead I'll do another Top Ten list since it seems so many people are interested in that. hehe

For this one I am going to go back to the theme parks. Whenever we go to Disney World, there are always certain things I look forward to seeing. Or you just experience those sights from a brand new perspective. So I now present to you...

Sarah's Top Ten Sights/Views in Disney World!!

Had to steal a couple pictures along the way...

10. The Disney World entrance
http://photos-g.ak.fbcdn.net/photos-ak-snc1/v1447/193/8/20305212/n20305212_34373382_9189.jpg

Pretty self-explanatory. Every time we go I always get excited about driving through the arch because that means our trip is officially getting started!

9. The view as you climb Expedition Everest

http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2187/2425386914_deb6460926.jpg

Sadly I don't have a picture of this, partly because I'm too chicken to pull out my camera. But it's so cool on that first incline on EE when you can see the entire park. Maybe getting a photo should be a goal for April?!

8. Seeing the elephants on Kilimanjaro Safaris

http://photos-g.ak.fbcdn.net/photos-ak-sf2p/v252/193/8/20305212/n20305212_33510153_1168.jpg

I think elephants are so cute so it's always exciting to see them on the safari. There was one safari we went on when we saw atleast five of them!

7. A monorail gliding through Epcot

http://photos-c.ak.fbcdn.net/photos-ak-sf2p/v16/193/8/20305212/n20305212_30160699_3910.jpg

Not really sure why I like this one. Maybe it's just because I love the monorail and they seem kind of Epcot-ish. That doesn't even make sense, does it?...:confused3:rotfl:

6. The Boardwalk at night

http://photos-c.ak.fbcdn.net/photos-ak-snc1/v1639/193/8/20305212/n20305212_34376018_9530.jpg

There's just something about the Boardwalk being all lit up that makes it come to life. It seems so much more festive!

5. The entrance to Hollywood Studios

You might not think that the entrance to DHS is anything special but to really appreciate it you need to take one of the boats. On our trip last Dec. when we stayed at the Beach Club, we took one of the boats over to the Studios...something we had never done. I know I talked a lot about the view you get in that TR because it's just amazing! It's like you don't see anything and then you turn the corner and see all the icons of the park. Definitely gets you excited for the day. Sadly I don't have a picture of this one. :sad2:

4. The Magic Kingdom entrance

http://photos-h.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc1/hs141.snc1/5210_604908147264_20305212_35615424_989922_n.jpg

This one's very similar to the DHS entrance in that you need to see it coming on one of the boats. It's just a completely different view of the entrance that pretty much captures all of the excitement/hustle and bustle of the park.

3. The World Showcase pavilions during Illuminations

(THIS IS NOT MY PICTURE)
http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2004/2434523146_6cd56acf7c.jpg

One of the best parts of Illuminations is when they light up all of the pavilions. Kind of gives you chills. :goodvibes

2. Cinderella Castle

We've seen it as a big pink birthday cake...
http://photos-b.ak.fbcdn.net/photos-ak-sf2p/v65/193/8/20305212/n20305212_31587455_6515.jpg

Decked out in gold for the Happiest Celebration on Earth...
http://photos-e.ak.fbcdn.net/photos-ak-sf2p/v16/193/8/20305212/n20305212_30160702_4785.jpg

Glimmering like an ice palace...
http://photos-g.ak.fbcdn.net/photos-ak-snc1/v1447/193/8/20305212/n20305212_34374096_6127.jpg

And in its original beauty...
http://photos-f.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc1/hs141.snc1/5210_604908192174_20305212_35615433_7132795_n.jpg

I really wonder how many pictures of the castle I've taken over the years because I'm sure it's a ridiculous amount. But can anybody really help it? It's like the icon of Disney.

And my all-time favorite sight in Walt Disney World is....

1. Main Street USA!!!

http://photos-g.ak.fbcdn.net/photos-ak-sf2p/v252/193/8/20305212/n20305212_33510617_4875.jpg

One of the things I look forward to on each trip is getting that first glimpse of Cinderella Castle after coming around that bend. But Main Street is amazing too. It just makes you feel like you're home with the stores, balloon vendors, Photopass photographers, etc. There's nothing like it. :goodvibes

So what are your favorite sights in Disney World? popcorn::

And of course, I enjoyed your Top 10! Several of my favorite sites are the same as yours, Main Street USA would have to be #1 for me as well. I love entering MK and seeing it all...:cloud9:

I also love the monorail going through Epcot. Especially riding it through Epcot. It's very Epcot-ish. :goodvibes

I think another favorite view of mine is seeing my first Disney bus. Since we use that transportation SO MUCH during the trip, seeing the first one just secures in me that we are truly there!! :hyper:

The F&GF is great. It's kind of funny because when we used to go over spring break a lot it would be going on but that was before I knew about it. I'll look at our old pictures and notice all the topiaries/displays in the background. haha!

I love seeing the Tree of Life and everything on that climb. It's amazing how much you can see!

Hmm, that would be a good list. Let's see...I'd say these:

MK- Pirates, Splash Mountain, Peter Pan (classic!)
Epcot- Soarin, Test Track, Maelstrom
DHS- Toy Story Mania, Tower of Terror, Great Movie Ride (you have to do atleast one of the classics at each park. haha)
AK- Kilimanjaro Safaris, Dinosaur, Expedition Everest

OK I just realized pretty much all of these attractions were on my Top Ten attractions list.

Yeah, it's just so frustrating. Obviously I'd still rather have a full-time permanent job but I am not going to complain about knowing where I'll be going for the next few months. Hopefully it'll lead to something for next year then...

And yeah, a DIS meet would be so fun! We don't really plan out each day too much either...we're usually pretty flexible. Heck, there are some days we don't decide where we're going until the night before.

I understand the pain from it, at least vicariously. Weird's job right now is temporary. They're extending it again because they want to keep him there, but there's a hiring freeze. He's working as a technician at his school; he worked there during all his years of college so they know he's reliable. That's why it was shaky whether or not he would go to WDW with us because of financial reasons. It's terrible having everything up in the air, but we're very grateful that at least he has something for the right here and now.

Haha, we decide what park we're going to late the night before we actually go. We're probably only going to do MK and Epcot (possibly DHS with just Weird and my brother). We'll also be at DTD for one of the days. Who knows ... maybe we'll have a chance for a DIS meet despite our wacky lack of planning traditions!

YAY! I'm glad it's working out for you right now. I hope it can turn into something permanent if possible. A 15-minute drive is great! I'm about 20 minutes from my school, and at the end of the day, it's really nice to know that I don't have to commute or drive for an hour.

And my all-time favorite sight in Walt Disney World is.... 1. Main Street USA!!!

YES! I totally agree with Main Street! I love going over to the Photography board and seeing people's pictures of Main Street. The colors are amazing. It looks so inviting; I'm so excited to be able to examine it carefully in April.

One of my favorite sights is seeing the TTA as you're going up the platform and things start coming into view. The anticipation of being on the same level as the ride just thrills me. Then when I finally see it, all that happiness just rushes everywhere around me! Haha, so much so that I have to be careful that I don't fall on the moving platform.

GREAT top ten list! These are the PTRs that I love to read! Stuff about the parks and how you feel about them. Like I said before, we don't plan out our days or make ADR's so these are super fun. I look forward to borrowing your idea :goodvibes

Yeah, I guess I should be lucky that with teaching there is an opportunity like subbing whereas with other jobs there might be nothing. :confused3

Once it gets closer to April maybe we can figure something out for a DIS meet. :thumbsup2

I would love for it to turn into something permanent. The whole subbing thing is kind of getting old!

We have this one book called Treasure Hunts (or something like that) that kind of leads you to all the hidden stuff/details in all the parks and resorts. We have yet to use it. I really want to try to find some of that stuff this time!

LOL about the TTA! I can't wait to ride that again since it was closed this last trip.

Glad you like the list and I can't wait to see yours. :)

Oooh, you should audition for AIE!

I will audition one day. I'm just not interested right now because I don't want to cut in to my park time when I haven't done DHS in 10 years! On one hand I feel kind of guilty. I don't actually want the dream ticket to audition for AI, I just want to say I performed on stage at Disney! :rotfl:

Great list of attractions for a newbie! Especially the one I'm thinking of bc he's not going to ride Mission Space.

LOL, yeah, I bet that would be so cool to be on the stage. I know that I would never do it because 1.) I can't sing and 2.) I'd probably make a fool of myself. But when we saw the show I thought it was really neat how they had a photopass guy taking pictures of them. What a neat keepsake!

ha, that sounds like me! I just can't bring myself to try M:S. :scared1:

Oh my gosh! I just realized that I've seen the Happiest Celebration on Earth castle and I feel like it wasn't that long ago! What year was it?! I also remember that the first time I went back to Disney in a long time after going for years in a row, the castle was pink and I was NOT happy!!

I will have to check out the entrance to DHS from the boat next month.

My top 10 would be almost the same as yours but instead of elephants on the safari I would say the lions. And I'd also add seeing the tigers on the Maharajah Jungle Trek!! I got amazing pictures of them one trip where they were walking around, playing with each other, and then one went into the water and was playing around. It was SO cute!

The HCOE was 2005-06. At the time I thought the castle cake was so cool. LOL!

Yes, you will definitely have to do the boat...it is quite a sight! :thumbsup2

If I ever saw the lions doing anything I might have them on my list. But like I said before all they ever seem to be doing is lying around.

ha, that sounds like me! I just can't bring myself to try M:S. :scared1:

M:S is AMAZING! On one hand I want to say try it...you might be missing out on something fun. But on the other, knowing how many people react unfavorably, I would say that you don't want to risk feeling poorly for part of your trip! Maybe if you're ever in Future World in the afternoon of a last day of a trip?

It's just so difficult to predict unless you've been on something that pushes that many G's on you. But now I understand why some people aren't cut out to be astronauts!

The first time I went to ride M:S I was pretty scared. My ex bf took me and he kept telling me about how "its the only ride in all of Disney that supplies barf bags!" He had me really worked up about it, but after I got off I thought it was the most awesome thing ever!!! Well that and EE, and Splash Mountain, and Soarin', and Space Mountain...and well yeah you get the idea. :rotfl:

Yeah, part of me wants to try it but the other part of me keeps saying no way. I am not too fond of any of those motion simulator rides (the Jimmy Neutron thing at Universal Studios almost made me sick!). If I do ever decide to do it I'm definitely starting on the wimp side! LOL. It's really the only thrill ride I've never done. Who knows, I swore I'd never do TOT or RNRC and now those are two of my favorites so maybe I'd end up liking M:S.

I just tried TOT for the first time and I don't think I'll be on going on it again. It really scared me, not knowing when the drop(s) would come. The actual drop wasn't THAT bad...but not knowing really freaks me out! RnRC was awesome though. Funny how people like some big rides and not others.

The Hidden Magic of Walt Disney World!!! I've read in other people's TRs that it's a pretty good book so I finally caved and bought one. One of the things we are hoping to do on this trip is try to look for some of those hidden secrets in the parks. I've only flipped through it a little bit so far but it seems really interesting! One of the most interesting things I've read so far is that the only real flag on Main Street is the one in that center plaza (near the Roy and Minnie statue) where they do the flag retreat. It said that all the other ones, like on the buildings, aren't considered real so they don't have to take them down each night per US Custom (so they might be missing a star or stripe). Crazy, huh?! Can't wait to read more. popcorn::

I also thought I'd go ahead and do my next Top Ten List since there's not much more to report on. So for this list I decided to do...

Sarah's Top Ten Disney Movies!!

As I mentioned in my favorite songs list, I'm not just a fan of the parks. I love ALL things Disney. :goodvibes And there sure are some great movies to help when you need a little Disney fix. These aren't going to be in any particular order. I'm going to try and organize them by category. So here we go...

Favorite Disney Classic: Peter Pan
http://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h172/wfbdukegirl03/peter_pan.jpg

I was so excited when this one finally came out on DVD. Nothing like a little faith, trust, and pixie dust. :goodvibes

Favorite Princess movie: Cinderella

http://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h172/wfbdukegirl03/cinderellaposter.jpg

So obviously this one's a classic too but Cinderella is my favorite Disney princess princess:. It has some great songs in it too and you've gotta love the happily ever after. Side note, how cool is the retro poster?!

Favorite Sports movie: Miracle

http://www.empiremovies.com/images/posters/miracle-movie.jpg

Even though I am a sports fan I am not really into hockey but this movie is awesome. If you don't know, it's the story of the US hockey team in the 1980 Olympics. And if you don't know how the story goes, the US, a team made up of amateur players ends up beating the Soviets, who were made up of professional hockey players. The US then went on to win the gold medal. I wasn't born yet during those Olympics but I remember when we first saw it Dad told us stories about how exciting it was. Ahhh, it's just a feel-good story. :thumbsup2

Favorite Disney Channel movie: High School Musical

http://www.skylinepictures.com/Movies_Posters_High_School_Musical_mpc37_large.jpg

I really don't think Disney knew what a phenomenon this franchise would end up being. It might be really cheesy but it's another feel-good movie that makes you happy. Way better than some of the other junk out there these days! Oh yes, and the music's not too bad either. ;) If I was 12 years old I'd probably be in love with Zac Efron.

Favorite movie based on a book:
There's actually two here, not sure which one I like more.

So #1 is The Princess Diaries
http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3469/3354259867_f6a1bf1762.jpg

The Princess Diaries tells the story of Mia Thermopolis (played by Anne Hathaway), a normal teenager who ends up finding she's the princess of the made-up country of Genovia. Such a cute story and I love the ending.

#2 is The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian
http://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h172/wfbdukegirl03/princecaspianposter.jpg

I'm actually kind of surprised I got into this one, which tells the story of the Pevensie kids and their return to Narnia. My sister ended up buying the first movie (The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe) and it was actually pretty good. We decided to go see Prince Caspian when it came out and I liked this one too. Lots of action. After seeing it I had to go out and buy the book (which is now in my growing collection of kids books for when I get my own classroom!).

Favorite Pixar movie: Finding Nemo
http://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h172/wfbdukegirl03/finding_nemo_ver2.jpg

Funny story to go with this: When I first met my roommate for my freshman year of college, one of the first things I told her was that I was a huge Disney fan.:rolleyes: She said that she, her sister and mom went to see Finding Nemo and thought it was really cute. My family ended up going to see it on the Fourth of July that year. It was immediately my favorite Pixar movie and still is. Really, I don't think there has been a bad Pixar movie but Nemo is totally awesome, dude (sorry, couldn't resist). I love the animation, the characters, pretty much everything. So cute.

Favorite Recent Classic: Aladdin
http://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h172/wfbdukegirl03/aladdin_ver3.jpg
So to be considered a "recent classic", it had to be one of those movies in the late 1980s-early 1990s when they just released all of those hits. :worship: I'm sure a lot of people would choose The Lion King for this one and I probably would too (but I HATE the part when Mufasa dies. Poor Simba!! :sad1:...I know, I'm such a dork). So instead I'm going with Aladdin. One of the best things about Aladdin is the music. (Random note, I really can't wait to see The Princess and the Frog which will return to those classic musicals.)

Favorite Live-Action movie: Pirates of the Caribbean
http://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h172/wfbdukegirl03/potc.jpg
OK, I'm not going to lie, parts of these movies kind of confuse me but they're still entertaining. One of the best scenes (I think it's in Dead Man's Chest) is when Jack Sparrow and Will Turner are in that giant wheel fighting and it's just rolling through the jungle. :lmao:

Favorite Animated/Live Action movie: Enchanted
http://i64.photobucket.com/albums/h172/wfbdukegirl03/EnchantedMoviePoster_001.jpg
Hmm, I'm not really sure how many choices there'd be for animation and live action but Enchanted is definitely the best. Cute movie, great music, and it also has a lot of other Disney references within it (like the Bella Notte restaurant, the idea that Giselle has to eat a poisonous apple, etc.).

Feel free to share your favorites! It's so hard to narrow it down there's so many good ones. :)

I was disappointed in HSM. I just thought it was up to Disney par. I was kinda bored with it.

My top Disney movies are:
The Little Mermaid!!! Some of the absolute best Disney music of all time!
Beauty and the Beast - again, really awesome music.
Aladdin - can you tell I like the Alan Menken stuff?
Enchanted - more Alan Menken :) I also adored Amy Adams in this film.
Pirates of the Caribbean - Johnny Depp  I also love the score - I have some of it as my ringtone.
Ratatouille - I love anything French, like to cook, and I used to have a pet rat, so the chances of me not liking this were minimal. :rotfl:
Mary Poppins - Love Julie Andrews and Dick Van **** in this!
Cinderella - such a classic..I watched it a lot growing up. When we were little, if you asked my sister what she wanted to be when she grew up, she answered "Cinderella".

Nice list. Looks like you hit two of my all-time favorites- Cinderella and Enchanted. Aladdin and Princess Diaries are pretty high too, and Peter Pan is a classic. You left out a few that would definitely have made it into my Top 5- Beauty and the Beast, Little Mermaid and Mary Poppins. And surprisingly, Nemo has never been one of my favorite PIXAR movies. It is good (Iím with you, I donít think thereís ever been a bad PIXAR movie) but I think Toy Storyís my #1.

Iím almost embarrassed to say it, but I did like High School Musical even even got the soundtrack and DVD when they first came out. Wasnít a big fan of 2 or 3 though.

Last year it was in April.
I really don't care, cause I get to go to WDW.
I'm trying to get my dh to use some of his vacation days, but he hasn't said anything yet.
I looked up airline flights, and wrote them down and told him to tell the person who books everything, what "I" want again.:rotfl:

Did you see the new resort that was built by Bonnet Creek-I'm thinking of booking one nite there. All other rooms are really expensive because it is Spring Break Season. Maybe I should stop chattering and start my own pre-trip.

Just wanted to wish everyone a

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!

Is anybody watching the Macy's parade? There is going to be a new Mickey balloon to promote the new Cruise Line ships.

Oh yes and if anybody happens to watch the Old Spice Classic today you guys can think of me. ;)

Have a great day!

I saw the Mickey cruise balloon! Awesome! The parade this year was kinda bad...the singers they had were terrible. Don't they usually have like, popular people!?

I love your list. Now you have me wanting to go watch all of those movies since Ohio is super boring! I agree about Cinderella - sometimes I feel like her! (Like yesterday when I was told do start doing the dishes while my family played board games.) Pirates is awesome, Peter Pan is good - I love the lost boys!!

Seeing that balloon made me want to go on a cruise. Oh wait, I've been wanting to go on a cruise for a long time now. I bet the new ship is going to be awesome. As for the parade there really weren't any big names in it. :confused3 Dad was saying a while ago how the cast of Glee (my new favorite show BTW...hehe) was supposed to be in it but then they said no because Glee is a FOX show and they didn't want to promote another network's show.

I really am wanting to watch Miracle now, especially with the Olympics coming up so soon.

I love Miracle but....let me just say that I was not a hockey person. But after I did an internship with an NHL team (because they were the only professional team that was accepting undergraduates as interns) a few years ago, I love it even more! I still don't totally understand the sport, but I LOVE watching it. So when I watched Miracle after doing the internship, it was SO much more exciting!! I can't wait for the Olympics!!

Yeah, I think I've been to maybe 2 hockey games in my lifetime...just don't follow it. :confused3 That is so cool you interned in the NHL. My sister's going to school for business (she wants to go into sports business) so she'd love to do something like that. Right now she's a game day ambassador for MU. :thumbsup2

Hey DIS friends!

Hope everyone had a nice Thanksgiving weekend. Thursday was a busy day for us...spent it visiting family and cheering on the Packers/Marquette then I was so lucky to get to work on Black Friday and yesterday too. I can't believe it's already Sunday. I am not ready to go back to school tomorrow. :sad2: The good news is that it's only about 3 1/2 weeks until Christmas break! Then right after Christmas I can start my 100-day countdown...we hit the 100 day mark on December 27. Is that sad that I already figured that out?!

Anyways, no major updates as of right now. I got my Disney Rewards points now so I'll have to start thinking about buying my new park ticket. It'll be nice to put those points (aka $200!!!) towards that.

I know I've mentioned this several times but this was also the weekend of the Old Spice Classic in Disney World that my Golden Eagles were playing in. They had an off-day yesterday so the team got to go to the parks. If you need a good laugh, check out this video (if the link doesn't go directly to the video click on the one that says MU Mens Basketball Magic):

http://www.youtube.com/muathletics#p/u/1/QRkvPIwFTbA

LOVE IT! I am especially proud that they know the words to Miley Cyrus' "Party in the USA." :rotfl::rotfl: PS, they're playing in the championship game tonight! I'm hoping that if they win Mickey will give them a trophy. :teeth:

Have a good rest of your weekend!

I'm in for some Wisconsin Disney TR fun.

I enjoy the top ten lists. the top ten views/sights got me thinking.

I think my #1 would be the Monorail going through Epcot.

100% of my Disney nostalgia comes from Epcot. I feel more "at home" there than anywhere else in the world. When I go, I will be snapping a picture of a monorail crossing in front of Spaceship Earth. I don't care if the cliche police do arrest me.

Well, in all honesty MU should have won...but maybe not when you blow a 17-point lead.:mad::mad: But still it was a good showing in the tournament considering we have like no experience so hopefully that's a good sign for the rest of the season. *crosses fingers*

Happy Friday!

So my sister just reminded me (well, she didn't really need to remind me, haha) that last year at this time we were just about ready to go to Disney World. :sad1: We're both kind of bummed thinking about it. We had so much fun staying at the Beach Club Villas and getting to go to our first Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party. I'm also getting jealous because so many people on here are either in WDW now or going soon. :snooty: In honor of the holidays coming up I thought I'd share some pictures (maybe a couple a day??) from that trip...gotta keep this PTR interesting, haha! Enjoy!

Those pictures make me wish I could go to WDW at Christmastime. Originally, that had been my family's plan, but my mom hates really big crowds; and then, my best friend had agreed to go with me in 2010 but it works out better for us if we go in October instead. Oh well--someday! The Beach Club looks beautiful though. Which resort has your favorite decorations at Christmastime?

It is totally worth going for the holidays atleast once. If you can go before Christmas, that's an awesome time because all the decorations are up and the crowds aren't bad at all...that's what we did last year. But yeah, we've also been AFTER Christmas and sometimes the crowds can be insane. We were at Epcot on NYE in '07 and some of the waits were over 200 min. :scared1:

As for which resort is my favorite, it's really hard to say. All of them have really cool decorations! I think last year we were able to get to almost all of the deluxe resorts. :thumbsup2

Sarah,
thanks for posting the link to youtube on MU, they did well in the tournament, too bad they didn't win. I have to be honest, I didn't watch the games, but they were on in the house so I was kept informed of the results. Your trip back to WDW will come quickly, brrrrrrrrrr it's cold here, so I'm sure you are looking forward to heading back to FL.
Did you go to the clubhouse sale, there are some good bargains for Brewer fans.

You're welcome! They did do surprisingly well which kind of made me even more mad we weren't able to go. If only it weren't over Thanksgiving we definitely would have been there.

I didn't go to the clubhouse sale but I heard that was going on. We went to the sale a couple years ago and found some stuff for $1...perfect for our trip to Arizona for spring training!

Thanks for the BC pics from Christmas. We'll get down there at one time to see the decorations, but it will probably be a while before that happens. I get a little DIsney Depression when I pass the travel dates from the previous year or the dates of a cancelled trip. I think at this time I was/would be doing this.

Can't wait to read more. popcorn::

I absolutely LOVE Hidden Magic! When my brother asked what I wanted for my birthday, I said that book and Chicken Soup for the Teacher's Soul. I've read both of them twice through already! The second time I read Hidden Magic, I started mentally compiling a list of things that I wanted to look for. Then the list got too long! I think I'm going to have to write them down and keep it limited. I should look for only a few since there should be many trips in the future to find them all!

As for your top 10 Disney movies list ... I like how you divided it up into categories. My favorite Disney channel movie now would probably be HSM3. Hehe, I think it was the best out of the 3. I didn't like HSM2 at all.

I'm also getting jealous because so many people on here are either in WDW now or going soon. :snooty:

My colleague is going on Christmas Day! And they got reservations for CRT for New Year's Day! That means the first meal that she and her husband and their little girl (she's in 3rd grade) get to eat in 2010 is in Cinderella's Castle! Haha, it makes my countdown seem sad. But it does make me feel better that because their trip is sooner, their trip is also almost over. I'll have something to keep me going until April.

I love having another Disney fanatic at work! She's actually the administrative assistant so yesterday before I went back upstairs for parent teacher conferences after eating lunch, she told me to stop by her computer. She had the Thomas Kinkade painting as her desktop since she just bought the smaller version (http://ep.yimg.com/ca/I/gallerydirectart_2082_288071049). She was pointing out all the other little characters within that Cinderella scene! I wish I could've stayed there to talk to her about Disney instead of back to my room to talk to parents!

I'd think I have to agree with you, HSM3 was the best. I liked them all but HSM2 was my least favorite. My favorite part of HSM3 is the ending at their graduation and they all hold hands and start skipping away. LOL! :rotfl: Oh yeah, and the scene in the junkyard...:rolleyes1

Going on Christmas Day?! That's cool...wonder what the crowds will be like then. What a great start to the year too. :thumbsup2 We've been there over New Year's and I have to admit it's a lot of fun saying you were in Disney World for the new year.

Happy St. Nick! Does anybody else celebrate this? It seems like there are a lot of people who haven't heard of it...but it's really popular around here. We all have a stocking (I guess some people just put out shoes but our mom made stockings for me and my sisters when we were babies :)) and then we get little treats. This year I got some candy, a couple gift cards, and an ornament. That's another tradition that we have...ever since we were little we get a new ornament each year. So you can imagine the collection we have now!

Anyways, here's another Disney Christmas picture since I didn't post one yesterday...The Osborne Lights! If you've never seen these in person it's so hard to describe. Pictures really don't do it justice. So awesome!

Hi DIS friends!

I've been really bad at updating this PTR lately...still not much as far as planning goes. I've been reading my Hidden Magic book and learning lots about all those secrets found in the parks. Just reading it makes you appreciate all the work and creativity that goes into the attractions. I'll have to post a list of some of the most interesting things/things I want to look for on our trip.

Hope everyone's been staying warm. It's been pretty cold here the past couple days! :cold: Makes me want to go to Florida even more. But we're getting closer to the 100 day countdown, yippee!

I'll leave you with another Christmas picture of the day. I really want to go again next December. Over the weekend I asked Dad if we had enough Vacation Club points to do that. I don't even care about the crowds, I just want to go see the decorations again. Is another trip in the works? Well...no, but hey, I am working on it! haha

One more thing...do any of you remember the old Honey I Shrunk the Audience preshow? The one with True Colors? The other day Dad showed me a video he found on youtube of that show. We all liked it better than the newer one. Enjoy!

No major trip news (still ) but I did receive my Disney Dream Rewards Dollars card yesterday. A while ago I mentioned how I got something in the mail for the Disney Visa and one of the incentives to opening an account was that you'd receive 200 dream reward dollars after your first purchase. In other words, I'd get $200 to spend on Disney stuff! I'm going to put it toward my park ticket fund. I was planning on getting a 10-day park hopper with no expiration but a couple of times Dad has said something about getting an annual pass. If I did that, that would be helpful if some of us do decide to go next December. Maybe I should just get an AP and that way I'd have to plan another trip to get my money's worth. haha! We'll see though.

I also wanted to share this story that was in the paper this morning. A lady from around here made it into the Guiness Book of World Records for her Winnie-the-Pooh collection. The story has a picture as well and let me say, it is quite impressive!:eek: Wonder if she is a DISer...here's the link if you're interested.

And last but not least some more Christmas pictures! This time we head to Epcot. I could be wrong but I think I read that they don't have these anymore this year. :confused3 Does anybody know for sure?

Totally random but I just got an email from the Disney Store about the newest arrivals from the parks. One of them is the monorail t-shirt! I must have it. haha!

http://www.disneystore.com/new-arrivals-walt-disney-world-resort-monorail-mickey-mouse-tee-for-men/p/1258267/303200/

I love that shirt too! I've said I'm going to buy it on every trip, but have yet to do so...maybe this one!

:thumbsup2

I LOVE Miracle!!! Such a great movie! I'm not into sports at all, but this one-wow, such a great storyline and I love that it's based on a true story. And that same coach also worked at St. Cloud State where I went to college! :thumbsup2

Then right after Christmas I can start my 100-day countdown...we hit the 100 day mark on December 27. Is that sad that I already figured that out?!

No, completely normal. ::yes:: (at lest for around here....;))

I am LOVING all your Christmas pictures. Aieeeeeeeeeee! 13 days for me!! I can't believe it!!

You are RIGHT. :sad2: No arches this year! I'm SO BUMMED! They are down for refurb. Couldn't they do that in January when they took them down?!?! :confused3

haha, that sounds like me! I keep saying the next one, the next one.

I agree, the fact that it's based on a true story makes it even better. Kinda makes me wish I was born when it really happened.

Sooo jealous for 13 days!

Hmm, that is strange that they are down for refurb. Why not do it before Christmas (or after like you said). :confused3

That picture of the woman with all her Pooh stuff is CRAZY! Haha, they should have set the picture up so that it looked like ET in the midst of all the stuffed animals. I like the 2 baby Poohs that are to the left of her feet in the picture. So cute!

And just because there was a recent question about one of the students at school having lice, I can't imagine the cleanup she'd have to do if she had a kid with lice! She'd have to put ALL of the stuffed animals into bags! Yeah, that was just a random thought that came to my mind when I saw all those plushies!

Even though you don't have trip-related news, I still look forward to all your updates! :yay:

It's been a while since I posted. I am loving the regular Christmas pictures. I had heard about not having Lights of Wonder this year. Supposedly, it wasn't working when it came out of storage.

BTW, I think I would die if it were 30 degrees here as the high of the day.

Ahhh, well if that's the case then I guess it makes sense to be down for refurbishment.

Even though it was 30 degrees this weekend it felt so warm compared to what it was on Thursday and Friday! We had to have indoor recess because the wind chill was below zero.

Holy Pooh! That woman clearly has an affinity for Pooh. I wonder what the world record is for pins?

Wow, that is so cool you earned 200 reward points just for making one purchase...SWEET!!

Boo!! That stinks they took the arches away at Epcot. I thought they were so pretty. Bummer.

I know!!! I wonder what the pin record would be. I thought I had a lot but then I saw some other people's collections...and OMG!!! :scared1: It's frightening thinking about how much $$$$ some of these collections are worth (heck it's bad enough thinking about how much I've blown on pins ).

haha, yep, that was pretty much the only reason I got the Disney Visa. OK, not really but it was a big deciding factor.

Hopefully the arches will be back next year. :thumbsup2

Glad you had fun on your trip! I love going over the holidays. I'll have to look and see when Christmas is and try to figure out when schools' winter breaks will be to see if I could go.

As for the DVC points, when you purchase a contract, you buy a certain number of points. Ours has 250. I was talking to Dad the other day about it and he sort of explained how it all works. It can get kind of complicated with borrowing/banking but generally you "pay" for your trip with the points. As you can probably guess the time you visit determines the number of points you have to use...in other words, during peak seasons (aka Christmas) we have to use a lot more. Hopefully that makes a little bit of sense but that's the basic gist of it. The nice thing is that with the points it turns out to be a lot cheaper than if you were staying at one of the resorts without DVC!

Happy Wednesday! 5 1/2 days until winter break! :yay:

I just realized that if this was last year we'd be getting ready to board the plane for our trip. :sad2::sad2::sad2: Wish I was going again! Thought I'd share a couple more pictures...this time they're from the Grand Floridian! We took the monorail to the GF and Polynesian before going to MVMCP to see some of the decorations. Awww I want to go. :sad2: Sorry for the whining. LOL. Enjoy!

Awww isn't the GF just gorgeous at Christmas?

Thanks for explaining the DVC points. My mom and I were killing time before our flight and checked out the model room at the Boardwalk. The guy working was really nice and wasn't pushy at all. My mom kept asking him questions about it then mentioned something to my dad when we got back! Now that I know how it works a little better, maybe I can convince them.

Can't wait for the next top ten!!

It sure is!

Isn't the model room nice? We went in there on our trip last Dec. Really made me want to stay there. That would be awesome if you could convince them about DVC! I never in a million years thought we'd be members!

Top Ten list will hopefully be up this weekend!

Hey guys! Quick update/life update.

Tomorrow is my sister's college graduation. Can't believe she's already done (that also makes me feel really old because that means I've been out of school for almost two years :scared1::sad2:). Anyways, once she is done student teaching in January she and my parents are going to Disney World to celebrate (without me and my other sister...grrrr). Please head over to her PTR and tell her CONGRATULATIONS and check out their trip plans! :thumbsup2

Time to go out and finish up my Christmas shopping before the MU game this afternoon! Nothing like waiting until the last minute. I'm hoping to get my new top ten list up tonight. It's going to be a good one!

Have a great weekend!

OK, so as promised here comes my next Top Ten list!

As you know all to well by now, we've been going to Disney World as long as I can remember. We went for the first time when I was five years old  and each time we go I love it even more. Since we've taken so many trips, we've seen a lot of attractions come and go. I thought for this list I'd share some of my favorite attractions of years past. So here goes...click on the name of the attraction to see a youtube video!

Sarah's Top Ten Extinct Disney attractions!

10. Mousekemaze
This was a little attraction in Mickey's Starland that my sisters and I loved. It was basically a kid-sized maze with these water spouts in them and everyone would run around trying to cover up the spouts. LOL! Really pointless but hey, we were little and thought it was a blast. I'll have to see if I can find the picture of me in it and upload it.

9. Pasta Piazza
OK, so this is not really an attraction, just a restaurant at Epcot. It used to be where the Electric Umbrella is now and it was sooo good. Best part was Mickey shaped pasta. :thumbsup2

8. Mickey's Starland Show (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aqOE5SmtwT0&feature=PlayList&p=AF5854589C39CBDD&playnext=1&playnext_from=PL&index=18)
Before Toontown Fair came about, it was called Mickey's Starland. We saw this show on one of our first trips and being that I was 5 or so, I LOVED this show...it was pretty much based off all the old Disney Afternoon shows like Gummi Bears and Tale Spin. I was so obsessed with the girl who was the host (strangely enough, I think her name was Stacy! haha! ETA: OK, just watched some of the video, the girl's name was not Stacy it was CJ. CJ, Stacy, sounds kind of the same...) that I kind of wanted to be her. I couldn't wait to go see it again on our next trip so I could see her. Well, guess what they decided to do? Get a new girl! That definitely disappointed me.

7. Aladdin Parade (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d2d6YsC0MPo)
In the early-mid '90s MGM always had parades for the newest movies. I remember them having other parades for Mulan and Toy Story. The Aladdin one was fun. It had some neat floats, like the elephant version of Abu with Aladdin and Jasmine riding atop on the magic carpet. If you've ever seen the Full House episodes in Disney World, the huge genie that Michelle awakens to become "princess for a day" was in that parade. :rotfl:

6. Legend of the Lion King (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZrfhR0Cx3WE&feature=related)
Formerly where Philharmagic is now. LOTLK was an amazing show that featured HUGE puppets and it of course told the story of The Lion King.

5. The Skyway (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6NGlRPdYyzw)
Kind of like the TTA, it was just one of those relaxing rides. Plus it was pretty cool getting to see the Magic Kingdom from the air!

4. Tapestry of Dreams Parade (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=76puPqtXFqQ)
We only saw this once but it was such a cool parade with all those larger-than-life puppets. And again, it had a great soundtrack!

3. Mr. Toad's Wild Ride (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8CtBFmVN02I)
Mr. Toad isn't totally extinct since they still have it at Disneyland but I still miss it at Disney World. Don't get me wrong, I love The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh but Mr. Toad's Wild Ride was a classic! The one scene I remember the most is where you're in your car and get "hit" by a train!

2. Remember the Magic Parade (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bOsX44fIly4&feature=related)
This was the parade for Disney World's 25th anniversary and I think this might be when I first really got the Disney bug. Not really sure why but I think the song might've had something to do with it. Soooo cute. "Your heart could just take wing, you could live out all your dreams, no matter how no matter when, you reach that world again...it's like a dream come true, that lives inside of you...it's time to remember the magic!" Totally random but I have the song on my ipod and was listening to it the other day, thinking how I am so going to go to Disney World when they have their 50th anniversary. haha!

1. The Original Journey Into Imagination!!! (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TI2VcQRMOM0)
As we all know there have been a couple refurbishments to this attraction but NEITHER of them compare to the original with Dreamfinder and of course Figment! For those of you who never got to see that version, trust me, it was AWESOME! Plus the old version of the ImageWorks (kind of like the What If? Labs they have now or whatever the heck they're called) was way better. The things I remember the most was a station where you could do a computer painting of Figment and/or Dreamfinder and then these huge pin tables...don't know what you'd call them but they had these pins on them that when you pushed on them they'd move and you could make handprints and stuff. Ahhh I miss it. :sad2: Definitely tops the list of Extinct Disney. :thumbsup2

In other news my sister was watching our recording of that Disney holiday show they had on HGTV and apparently said something to Dad how Disney World is so pretty at Christmas. Of course now he thinks that it is my doing and trying to get other people to go. He said something to Mom about how some of us want to go next December...so we will see what happens...popcorn::

It's funny because lately I've been thinking about all the extinct Disney attractions too! It was mainly because as I was watching a video about the plans for expanding Fantasyland and getting rid of Toon Town that I remembered about Mickey's Starland! I remembered the pictures I took with my cousins in front of those teeny tiny storefronts. I've been telling myself to dig out the photo albums for a while now!

I've never had Mickey shaped pasta before .... I think I should buy some when Weird and I are married so that we can have random Disney nights (dinner and a movie)!

Haha, I love how I don't remember the Aladdin parade (we didn't really watch parades), but once you mentioned Full House, I knew exactly what you were talking about.

I LOVEDDD Legend of the Lion King! I'm happy you put the link because I remembered that show so clearly being where Philharmagic is, but I wasn't sure if it was just my imagination! Haha, I have very vivid dreams, and sometimes I'm not sure if a memory I have is real or from a dream.

And I JUST mentioned the Skyway to Weird last night! I think it would be so cool to see the tops of the buildings and all of that now. When I was younger, I didn't think about looking at how the park was planned and laid out. I would love to examine it now.

As for Mr. Toad's Wild Ride, I remember being scared of it and somewhat squinting on the ride. I couldn't remember why because I knew there was a scene where we went through a library or something and then the town. It was a jerkier ride, and I remember thinking that I didn't like how the cars/vehicles kept me so exposed. I wanted HM doom buggies for some protection. It wasn't until I searched on YouTube for the ride did I see why it was so scary to me! That scene in hell? OY! That's frightening!

Lastly, I do miss the original Figment ride! I remember standing on line for it and the Dreamfinder came out for pictures with a little Figment (a puppet). When I went to take a picture, the Dreamfinder made Figment pull my cap off, but because my ponytail went through the back, it ended up messing up my hair instead of simply coming off. I laughed and then walked away grumbling that he messed up my hair, haha. Of course, I don't even have that picture now because that was the year that the water bottle spilled in my mom's bag and got on our camera :headache: Nowadays, Figment is the main character and he's HUGE! No way, he should still be a little creature!

I going to watch the link you posted for the original Figment now. Haha, YouTube is great for these Disney things!

This was an awesome list! I think it might be one of my favorite because of all the memories of my childhood it brought up!

Oh yeah, and as I watch the video, I remember that that's where I learned the phrase "figment of your imagination." I should so have a lesson of just Disney vocabulary words! The other day we had vagabond, and I always give an extra credit (2 points on the test) for those who find out what Disney song uses that word (title of the song and movie). Hehe, do you know?

Haha, yes, I'm commenting again ... hope you don't mind! I was skimming through the description of the original ride on Wikipedia and I saw this:

The Literature room was mostly focused on suspenseful tales and had Dreamfinder playing a massive organ with words coming out of it, words that turned into their meanings, a massive book featuring the raven from Edgar Allan Poeís poem cawing menacingly, and books of horrible monsters Figment tried to keep closed.

That's SO COOL! I'm doing a section on Poe and it would've been so cool to mention this! Of course, my students are too young to know it.

And lastly ... for real, I think this is lastly ... I saw the end of the video shows the picture you could have taken with Dreamfinder and Figment! Oh the memories!

I remember the little store fronts too! We have a few pictures of us by those. :goodvibes

I want to buy Mickey shaped pasta too. Or I guess I should say Mickeyroni...that's how they market it! :rotfl:

Yep, Legend of the Lion King was definitely a real show.

We got our picture taken with Dreamfinder and Figment. I remember when we met them (only because we have it on video) that we were playing with those jumping fountains so my hands were all wet so I was afraid to shake Dreamfinder's hand. He didn't even care though. haha!

Hehe, do you know?

haha, funny you ask if I know because as soon as I saw that I started thinking about which song it was. It's Can You Feel the Love Tonight, right?!

Haha, yes, I'm commenting again ... hope you don't mind! I was skimming through the description of the original ride on Wikipedia and I saw this:

That's SO COOL! I'm doing a section on Poe and it would've been so cool to mention this! Of course, my students are too young to know it.

And lastly ... for real, I think this is lastly ... I saw the end of the video shows the picture you could have taken with Dreamfinder and Figment! Oh the memories!

That is really interesting! And I think I remember that part of the ride too!

Hey Sarah. Just got back from WDW and I've been trying to catch up on everyone's reports. Love the new Top 10. Brings back so many memories- especially Mickey's Starland and the Aladdin Parade.

Congrats on the 100 day mark.

Hey Sarah, I just got back from my trip and was happy to see a new top ten! Although, I must admit, I don't recall a lot of those things. I distinctly remember my mom freaking out while we rode the Skyway though. :rotfl: She doesn't like heights!

It was?! I thought it was where EU was.

Here's an excerpt from Wikipedia:

"In an effort to keep Epcot updated and vital, CommuniCore was closed in January 1994 to be redesigned into Innoventions, a more eclectic and wild take on a Science and Technology pavilion. Thus, in 1994, the Stargate became the Electric Umbrella, and the Sunrise Terrace was divided into the Pasta Piazza Ristorante and Fountain View Espresso and Bakery. In 2001, Pasta Piazza closed; the space sat vacant until 2006, when it was converted into the Epcot Character Connection (now Epcot Character Spot). "

Even though I never experienced the "old Disney World", I love reading about it! Disney history is always so interesting, and it really makes you wonder why they get rid of some things that they do---and makes me wonder what is something that we love now that will disappear???? Great list! :goodvibes

Yeah, it's funny watching our old home videos and seeing some of the old stuff too. Like at Epcot, seeing the World of Motion (part of the ride went outside very briefly) in Test Track's spot. Crazy!

Getting closer to 100 days and then double digits! Wish I was as close as you though. So jealous!

Sadly, I was not able to go to WDW until I was older - honeymoon. The only time I went as a kid was whn I was almost 3, so a lot of what you mentioned in your favorite extincts I was never able to see. However, bryan and I were able to watch the Tapestry of Nations parade in Epcot on our honeymoon in 2000. I absolutely loved it, and the soundtrack was awesome.

Congrats to your sis for her graduation too!

BTW, you did a great job explaining how DVC points work.

Hope everyone had a great Christmas! It was a busy couple of days around here. Pretty much our entire family lives in the area so on Christmas Eve we went to my uncle's house and celebrated. Then on Christmas morning we opened our gifts from Santa ;) and went over to my grandma's because she always has breakfast at her place. And then in the afternoon we went over to my cousin's house to celebrate with my dad's side of the family. It was a lot of fun seeing everyone but the only bad thing is now I'm getting a cold. :sad2: Atleast I still have a week of vacation left. :thumbsup2

Anyways, does anybody remember what today is? Anybody?

No?

Then I'll just have to remind you...

ONLY 100 DAYS UNTIL DISNEY WORLD!!!!

Yippee!!! That means tomorrow we'll be in the double digits. haha Can't wait for April. Here are a few of the things I'm looking forward to most:

1. Getting to stay at Kidani Village.
We stayed at the AKL in '08 and loved it so I can't wait to see what Kidani is like, especially after reading some other TRs and seeing Kristen's (xoktenox) pictures!

2. The Backstage Safari Tour.
I love Animal Kingdom so I'm really curious to see some of the behind the scenes magic at the park. Should be a blast!

3. Five whole days in Disney World!!
OK, so to some people that might not sound like a big deal but since our last few trips have been shorter (I know, I'm so deprived ) it'll be nice to have that extra day to spend in the parks. Woo hoo!

4. The Flower and Garden Festival.
Again, on our trip in '08 the F&GF was going on at Epcot and it was so cool seeing all of the topiaries/other displays all over the park. Some of them are amazing!

5. Riding the refurbished Space Mountain.
SM was closed on our August trip so we didn't get to ride it. Even if the refurb isn't all that great I'm still interested to see if there are any changes. It looks like they take your picture on the ride now though!

Can't wait!

Same here, we used to go for a week at a time but now that we're older it's harder to do with everyone's schedules. So 5 full days will be great along with our travel days since our flight gets there early and leaves late coming home! :cool1:

I'm going to WDW in February, and I wish it was April, can you image that?
I'm just afraid it is going to be cold.
Anyways, is Cat's new resturant on the Boardwalk-can you make an ADR through WDW or do I need to call the resturant.
I'm trying to convince my dh to take an earlier flight on Wednesday, and possible make a ADR for later in the evening.
I don't want to eat at the Ritz, everything is over priced and the food really isn't that good.

Boo on the cold.
Isn't it funny that you probably caught it from a relative and not the kids?
I had our teacher/principal walk in my office last week Monday and tell me she was there to spread her germs, and then she actually sneezed on me. I was so upset last Monday, but luckily I didn't get a cold. Who does that.

Hope you enjoyed your Christmas. It was fun getting to see everyone...it was the first time in years that all of my cousins were there. One of them lives in California and came home this year and my other cousin, the one who is doing one of the PIs in Disney World flew home that night. It was funny because she came in still wearing her WDW work ID.

I am sure we'll really enjoy Kidani. Ahhh I can't wait! :cool1:

We went once in February and it was kind of chilly. We have home videos of us all wearing jackets and gloves. But then we've also been in Dec. and Jan. and it's been really nice. Hopefully it won't be too bad. And atleast you won't have to worry about crowds.

I'm not sure about the new restaurant but I'm pretty sure you can make ADRs through WDW.

Who knows who I got it from. At first I thought it was just allergies to their cats. :confused3 Whoa, she actually sneezed on you?! That is crazy!! :scared1:

Hey everyone! We're officially in the double digits...yay!!!!:banana::banana:

No trip updates but yesterday Dad, Claire, and I went to see The Princess and the Frog. I was really looking forward to seeing this movie. I couldn't wait to see another Disney movie in the classic musical style and it definitely didn't disappoint. I won't give anything away in case you haven't seen it but it was a really cute story. The animation was great and the music was pretty catchy too. I've been singing various lines over and over in my head.:rolleyes: My favorite is "Down in New Orleans." If you haven't seen it yet I definitely recommend it. There were also previews for Toy Story 3 and the next Disney Nature movie called Oceans. That looks really cool too (I still have to see Earth...).

I also signed up to get reminders to register for the Give a Day, Get a Day program. I think that could be really fun to do. It'll be interesting to see what types of volunteer opportunities they'll have. Chances are we won't be able to do it quick enough to use the ticket in April but hey, that's all the more reason to go back, right? We might (and I say might) go ahead and make a reservation for next December...Dad was asking me yesterday what days I'd want to go if we did. :yay::yay: We can't make reservations until 11 months out for Saratoga Springs so we'll have to wait until the end of January. Now I just have to convince some other people to go.

Have a great day!

YAY!!!! Soon we'll both be on our way! What are your dates again (I suppose I could just go look in your PTR...haha!).

Haha, it's okay. I actually just recently checked your dates too because I couldn't remember! I mean, I know we're during the same week, but I didn't remember exactly. We should be leaving NY on April 3rd. We're driving down so we'll get to Florida on Sunday, April 4th. It's really only about 5 full days in Florida because chances are we'll leave that Saturday. Oh dear, then it means going back to work the following Monday!

Maybe we'll be in the same place at the same time! I hope

I don't know that Weird and I are going to see The Princess and the Frog. I don't know if it's because we're not drawn to the movie or if we just hate movie theaters that much! Haha. I really do NOT like sitting in movie theaters. I can never get comfortable, and I always worry that I'll have to use the bathroom! That's why DVDs are my friends ... love the ability to pause (which we do all the time when Weird and I are watching one because I ALWAYS have to go to the bathroom!). Plus, I have this strange tendency to let my mind wander when watching movies so I miss out on parts. That's why I need subtitles. Reading keeps me focused. Haha, I'm just odd. But anyway, the movie will definitely be one we get on DVD!

I'll go with you! Hehe ;)
