Topic: Vintage Disney
This one is a bit different... Dig through those old photos. Let's see your photos from past trips, the older the better. Same rules apply, Disney parks, resorts, etc. only please. Please add a brief description of when and where the photo was taken. If the photo was taken by someone else in your party, thats fine for this week.
Pictures should be as original as possible with minimal editing. This week we expect old photos and understand that technical quality (color, exposure, etc) wont be up to its normal level here, dont worry about it. As always scans of slides and prints are find. If digital still defines vintage to you, so be it. Please post your entry by midnight Sunday, October 18 to ensure it will be included in voting. Make sure your entry is within the 800x600 size limit, be aware some photo hosting sites that resize for you (like photobucket) dont produce accurate results.
For more information see: Contest Rules (http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1679394)
Next week's contest topic will be:Restaurants, Food and Drink

Circa early 1960's, as you can tell I did not care how scary Mickey & Minnie looked.

Magic Kingdom circa 1999. Only photo I could find I'm not utterly ashamed to post.
Based on the boxes of photos I just went though, I believe that Central Florida and Anaheim, CA experienced some sort of weird weather pattern priror to the mid 2000's when I got my first decent digital camera. This patter caused everything to look blurry or have odd lighting streaks throughout and that all parades were conducted with performers and characters with their backs to the audience.
Sheesh, I dont know why I even kept 90% of those prints. I guess I figured at the time I'd paid for 'em I should keep 'em.

I wish I could say I had some older ones, but seeing as our first trip EVER was in 2001, this is the best I've got.
It was my twins' first trip, and DS did NOT want to stop for a picture - he wanted to get down to the rides, dammit. :lmao: Little did we know back then, he had it right! As newbs, we stopped for way too many pictures on the way IN, lol.

My first visit in 1979 (eeeks - 30 years ago!) was as a chaperone with a Teen Club from the junior high I taught at. I took very few pictures on this 6 day spring break trip which included 2 days at the Magic Kingdom, 1 day at Wet and Wild, 1 at Sea World and 2 days of travel by bus. At least it was free!
The picture below is of the Richard Irvine and do they still allow people to sit in lawn chairs on the bow?

My other "vintage" WDW pictures are posted in other DIS threads starting here. (http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1117864&page=71)

I've found that most of my old prints look really bad when scanned, but I do have this old gem from '87. We were celebrating the 10-year anniversary of our first trip to WDW. That's me on the far left. Yeah. The one with the hair.

Terrible scan of a crummy picture taken with my little Kodak instamatic, circa 1978(?), but I loved the skyway thingie (is that what it was called?)

Nothing to add - my oldest digital WDW shots are from March 2005, lol. Prior to that they would all be in boxes at my parent's house and very small and not suitable for scanning, I'm sure. But it is always fun to see these theads. My first trip was around 1981 when I was naught but 2 years old and it was Christmas - I don't remember any of it, but I've seen the pictures... the tiny, 2x2 square pictures, lol.

My uncle billy (on fence) and me (sitting) circa late 1973/early 1974, in Frontierland...roughly in front of the train station approximately where Splash Mountain now stands. Behind us in the open field is where Big Thunder Mountain now stands. Off to our right is the Rivers of America and Tom Sawyer Island boat dock. Some of those totem poles are still hidden in Frontierland, just built up around and grown in:

It was our 3rd trip back to what had become our new favorite place - Walt Disney World...we took an annual drive down from New Jersey with my grandmother (a 3+ day trip back then, what with no I-95 completed all the way through!) ever since attending the opening month in 1971. Not too long after this trip, my grandmother decided to move to Florida (1974), and after 2 years living in California with my mother (Disneyland years!!), she decided to move to Florida too in 1976. From then on, it was 3 or 4 trips a year to Disney World...and I haven't had a year yet from 1971 to present without visiting Disney parks.

My parents have pictures of me there in the mid-'70s but 1) I don't have 'em online and 2) eek! the things even kids were wearing in the '70s!
Here's a shot of the castle in 1995 - the last trip taken without my wife. I may even have been completely solo (drove up while visiting my parent's condo), but I don't remember for sure. Taken with my K1000 and probably my super-cheap Craig 35-70 zoom. This is via Kodak Photo CD; the negatives are in my pile of negs to scan, as which point I could tell you what the film was, too.
