Hi all...I am thinking about using the DDP for the first time. But here the catch.....sometimes I only want an appetizer at dinner and not an entree....would disney let me order an appetizer and not an entree?

Probably. Some might not (Restaurants that are not run by Disney sometimes tend to be a little more strict about the dining plan than Disney restaurants according to most reports). But if you prefer appetizers to entrees and you will be paying for the dining plan, you may want to consider if it is still a good value for you to purchase a dining plan that includes TS restaurants. Much of the value of the TS credits is tied to the entree price. If you just want the dining plan for convenience and you're not worried about saving money, then you will probably be OK ordering an appetizer instead of an entree in most places.

Yes I get what you mean about the TS, but we are going to have 3 or 4 of our 7 meals that are pricey...Akershus princess meal, Ohana (maybe twice at dinner) and candle light processional at Epcots Chef de France. All of those meals are fixed, buffet type (except Chef de France) but they are all fixed price. We are only there 7 - 8 days, and already we have 4 dinners scheduled that will cost close to the price of DDP for the day except we don't get counter service lunch! I was thinking on the days we go and order off the menu I might want something lighter? Maybe?

Also you can not trade a dessert for an appetizer, right? I think I read before you can not??

Thanks!

It's best to ask your server at each restaurant. We were on the DXDDP last week and at Planet Hollywood my DH asked if he could get an appetizer instead of an entree and was denied. On the DXDDP you do get an app but he wanted 2 apps and no entree. Seemed odd to me cause it would be cheaper for the restaurant but whatever. We also ran into a similar scenario at Raglan Road; there were some apps that we couldn't order on the DXDDP even using both our appetizer credits. I found it very confusing.

No, you can not exchange a dessert for an appetizer (not even for health reasons---diabetics, etc.).

Also not all restaurants will let you order an appetizer instead of an entree. I was on the DxDDP Sept 26th-Oct 4th and wanted two appetizers at Chef's de France, instead of an appetizer and entree. They would not let me.:confused3

Last week DH ordered two appies at Raglan Road, with no problem. In the past we have order 2 appies at Chefs de France, but maybe they have changed their policy.
